alright i haven’t watched TOH since it ended and i’m gonna be honest i thought all the hexside stuff was boring and i didn’t pay much attention to the coven stuff. oops

Art style breakdown /tutorial(??)

Some friends asked so here we go : disclaimer im bad at explaining (so feel free to send an ask or smth)

Final art (long read so theres a timelapse at the end)

If its not for something important (commissions), i dont usually make a lineart for a drawing but just clean up the sketch , it wont be used anyway

I usually separate them by colors , mostly so i can Alpha lock them and not worry about coloring over parts

When coloring i use a soft airbrush to have gradients within the shading , so its not one solid color . How i shade is very blocky , lots of triangles lol (if im using CSP i love using the lasso fill tool ) but there are parts especially in the skin where I keep it smooth and blended, usually nose and cheek area . Using an asaro head is usually a good start to learning how to shade faces with planes in mind

Depends on the character, but I like adding shadows on the lashes/brows itself , make it look solid and 3d , it makes the eyes pop more imo

Using multiply layer to make the shadows darker for more contrast

At some point I’d merge everything together so i can just paint in one layer, easier to fix things with liquify too ; if im in CSP i keep the separate layers in one folder just in case i need em later but i cant really do that in Procreate cos of layer limits

This is the part where i make the shading more painterly .,To make the shading look sharper , i like adding lines on the edges .

The fun part : adding the ✨

This is the part where I add textures , either from texture images or with screentone/hatching brushes. This is also around the part where i add the character’s accessories and stuff like scars and freckles (its just easier to add smaller things near the end than having them accidentally painted over at the start)

Whenever I feel like the drawing looks too much of a similar shade / temperature , I use a gradient map+layer effects (masked) on parts to give it variety . Technically you can do this by just having a layer effect on and manually adding colors but gradient maps make me go “ooooh didnt think of that color there “

CSP also has a posterization filter that i like using when i feel like some part looks too smooth to me.

I sometimes add in sketchy lines , and seeing how cool it looks in Marvel Rivals art ive been adding it more lol

My friend just suggested a scenario to me and I need someone just as or more deprived than me to tell me if it’s a hot scenario or if therapy is needed….

Yandere Stepson is obsessed with the idea of stealing you from his dad. Example given to me; he listens while you and your husband get it on and is determined to outdo him because you are clearly faking it with him

Ooooh ngl im not a big fan of the stepson / stepmom trope just because i don't like the idea of dating someone younger than I am.

But I can definitely see the vision!

Like just trying to be a good wife to your new husband, but it's so hard when his oldest son who just graduated college still lives with him to help around the house and save up money like his father encourages.

Despite everything looking great with your husband and stepson on the outside, you quickly notice there's something off with them. The competiveness, the subtle insults they throw at each other. The jabs he throws at his father for marrying a younger woman like you (not that he blames you at all!). But you decide not to say anything and try and help them instead.

And at first, you think nothing of the subtle brushes against from the stepson as you walk past each other or the way his hand seems to linger on your arm or on your lower back when he's guiding you to show you something. Or the way that you coincidentally saw him walking past the room you just stepped out of in just a robe after your nightly "lovemaking" secession with your husband, trying to hide your disappointment.

You try to deny the tension between the two of you, seeing the way he looks at you during the little "family" dinners. The smug smile on his face when he catches your eyes lingering on him while he's outside working, taking off his shirt and using it to wipe the sweat off his face and chest, muscles flexing as he does. And the way he's always complimenting you, not letting you do things for yourself, kissing the top of your hand, opening the doors for youand helping you out around the kitchen when you cook. Things your husband never does for you that you only wish that he would.

Then your husband has to go on a business trip, and you can see your stepson standing behind him with a small smile on his face as you panic a little bit, knowing something's going to happen.

A few hours after he left, you're back inside, washing the dishes when you feel hands grasp your waist and pull you against them.

You gasp, already knowing who it is. You're about to tell him to stop, that this isn't appropriate. Until he leans down and starts kissing your neck, making you drop the dish that you were holding onto as he sucks on a sensitive spot on your neck. It's like all self-control breaks. Besides, you think it'll happen just this one time, a dirty secret that you'll take to your grave.

And it's not like your husband is the most faithful man on those business trips of his, both of you know that. So you finally turn around and wrap your arms around his neck as he pushes you against the counter and captures your lips into a kiss.

Yandere stepson worships the ground that you walk on, showering you with love and affection and so much pleasure that you barely realize how long it's been since you've last seen his father. <3

Komahina; really fun but also kinda overshadows other fun ships, along with the issue of characterization being a bit flanderized, but very fun in basically all forms 8/10

Oumasai; interesting fact the reason i call it oumasai instead of saiouma is because 1. Kokichi tops and I refuse to budge on this. and 2. to help keep it out of the much more popular tag when I'm complaining. Anyways 90% of it's terrible but that 10% can be pretty damn good though, please become less popular, constant bad characterization 3/10

Ishimondo; classic, maybe too much of a classic, way too hard to find other ships with these two, however ishimaru did in fact get mondo on his knees in that sauna so i can't exactly say they are wrong, alas i got into danganronpa at like 13-14 and i was too young to really appreciate this ship and has kinda made it not something i ever really reach for 7/10

Naegiri; also a classic, I love them, they are so cute, they love each other so much and the memes are great, genuinely amazing, plenty of room for fluff angst and crack. Adorable but also not something I tend to overly reach for over other ships however am more likely to casually see it and go "HELL YEAH" and read a 40k fic, 8/10

Kaimaki; long time fans know I am not the biggest Maki fan, she's grown on me over the year, but the more canon a ship gets the harder it is for it to keep my interest without some other detail, and Kaimaki, does not have that other detail, I don't mind reading it if it catches my fancy, though I think I prefer it unrequited on Kaito's end, is 'aight 6/10

Saimatsu; similar problem as kaimaki of thhe more canon the ship the harder to keep my attention HOWEVER saimatsu is also a fucking comedy because they both kinda bring out the unhinged in the other and also the angst does make me really sad, so its good even if its not what im reaching for. 8/10

Naegami; 14 year old me was fucking obsessed with this ship, I have since calmed down. Thank god. Honestly overexposure made it a bit stale to me I think, like it's FUN don't get me wrong, I love Togami being a fucking freak about this little peasant little guy, but it's a bit generic "soft with mean" shipping I feel, very much "baby's first rivalry ship" for me 6/10

Oumota; oh that's the good shit, that's the good shit, the angst, the drama, the competitiveness, the assisted suicide, the secrets taken to the grave, the totally for real kiss in the hangar, the, pun intended, amalgamation of them in the final trial. The fact their love hotels line up, the fact they balance each other out. The hilarity of Maki and Shuichi's faces if they found out these two are dating, Ohhh my god, ooooh my god 10/10

Fuyupeko; another classic that falls under "the more canon it is, the harder it is for me to get into it" also Peko just...isn't super interesting to me, like don't get me wrong she's still great, but she's definitely a character I don't think of as often. I love the art for it though, fanartist go HARD and i love it, it's just overall missing that friction or interesting twist I want with my ships, tends to lean too domestic. 6/10

Kamukoma; pretty fun! I kinda grew a bit out of this one as well but sometimes you want komaeda being the absolute fucking dramatic worst with his cringe loser emotionless emo boyfriend, and that's a lot of fun. Good for angst, especially more cracky angst at times. Very funny when Hajime after the fact is like "HEY W HAT" 7/10
