Ok but, regarding TMAGP 27, I can't stop thinking about Jonah writing, after sending Archibald to a certain death, "It is done, and I am surprised to find how little remorse I feel." It reminds me of his statement in MAG 160:

"The discovery, not simply of the dark and horrible reality of the world in which you live, but that you would quite willingly doom that world and confine the billions in it to an eternity of terror and suffering, all to ensure your own happiness, to place yourself beyond pain and death and fear. (...) It is an awful thing to know about yourself."

I will never get tired of little details about his life being revealed (regardless of the timeline/dimension) because the parallel between his discovery of the supernatural world and the discovery of his own true self and the things he's capable of is so interesting and compelling to me.

Along with the knowledge of the horrors that exist in his world comes the horror of the realization that he might be capable of anything to stop feeling scared and vulnerable, to put himself over everybody else if necessary. Every time curiosity leads him into a new experiment, a new sacrifice in the name of knowledge, he lets go a little bit of himself and his morality. And then, as it happened with Archibald, and as it happened with Barnabas in another world, he feels surprised of how easy it was. Of how he doesn't feel regret or grief, how at most he finds himself thinking that it was all a pity. So it becomes even easier each time, he finds freedom in it, as he also mentions in MAG 160— and one sacrifice after another, it all becomes incredibly simple. There is no fear of losing himself, only the fear of death and pain remains, and only after that process of two hundreds years can one condemn the world for his own sake.

The progressive descent into evil of Jonah Magnus, slowly exposed through statements and letters, will never stop being one of the more interesting parts of this podcast imo.

A week after the event has (officially) ended, most works have likely been submitted - which means it's time for some light stats =D

The 17 wonderful podficcers who participated have made 66 works in exactly 66 fandoms! A special shout out goes to @kbirbpods this year, who made 21 pods all by faerself. And then one more in collaboration!

45 of those 66 fandoms were unique*, making this the most varied Poly Podweek yet! But this year wasn't just a celebration of podfic and polyamorous relationships, but apparently also crossovers - that 1:1 ratio was only possible because of 14 crossover works!

As always, unique fandoms in this context means that different versions of the same franchise were considered separate, however, different adaptations and parent tags were not. Eg. ‘Wiedźmin | The Witcher - All Media Types’ and 'Wiedźmin | The Witcher (Video Game)’ would be considered as one fandom, whereas 'Star Wars Prequel Trilogy’ and 'Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ would be two.

Continuing the trend of spreading love amongst more fandoms than ever - sometimes at the same time! - this is the first year a single fandom wasn't far more represented than any other. In fact, multiple DC properties were vying for the top spot, so it only seemed fair to give it to DCU as a whole, with 17 pods!

Together all the works amounted to 19 hours and 27 minutes worth of podfic - the perfect amount for the next little while!

And there you have it, everybody, another Poly Podweek in numbers. Once again, thank you everybody who participated for making this event what it is!

GCSE DRAMAAAAAA

Amanita hummed happily to themself, gathering flowers into their arms. Why were they gathering flowers? Well, they had to give them to someone. They couldn't remember who, so they figured they'd better just give some flowers to everyone they could find. And everybody liked flowers, right?

A pair of voices sliced through the air. Ah, there were their first targets! Listening carefully, they recognized the voices as Caity and... and...

They saw the red-and-black clown come around the corner. Right, Clown. They picked out a rose and a sunflower, then darted up to the pair. "Hey!"

Clown stopped, his shoulders hunching. "Oh... Hi, Amanita," he said flatly.

Caity, meanwhile, smiled at them. "Hey, Nita! Whatcha got there?"

"I was... I picked flowers." They held the sunflower out to Caity first.

She accepted it happily, tucking it into her hair and telling them, "It's so pretty! Thank you."

Clown tried to slip away, but they quickly handed him the rose. "Don't..." They paused. "For you too."

"Ah." He shoved it into his inventory. "I like black roses better."

Caity shot him a look. Maybe confused? Amanita was confused too, but they started to realize something as he walked away.

They turned to Caity, frowning. "Why does Clown- Why does he hate me? Did I do... or, well- forget something?"

She hesitated. "I don't know... I mean, I don't think he hates you. I dunno why he would. But I don't know him very well."

"Hmmm." Amanita looked down at the bouquet in their hands. "Okay. Bye."

Then they walked away, collecting flowers as they went and thinking of a plan.

Someone who knew Clown better. They tried to remember people they'd seen him with. They thought he didn't have many friends. Maddie? Was she his friend? Or was it Kab...?

Well, they could see Kab right now. She was in a house. Probably her house, actually. They looked down at their bundle of flowers. She liked blue, right? She was wearing blue. This blue bell-shaped flower would be good.

With flower in hand, focusing on the thing they had to ask Kab, they walked up to the door and knocked.

"Oh, shit- Be there in a second," Kab called, and Amanita heard the sounds of several things being knocked over. Or shoved into a chest. Or both. They covered their ears to dull the noise.

Once it had ended, Kab opened the door. "Oh, hi, lil' buddy!" She grinned. "You've got a flower for me?"

They nodded, tossing it to her. "It's- I'm trying to... Uh..." Oh, the one thing they had come to ask. "Shit."

Kab snickered. "Aren't you, like, ten? Oh, you probably learned that from me... Pyro's gonna be pissed."

Amanita tilted their head. "But... Not important," they decided abruptly. "I remember. Why does... Yeah, why does Clown hate me?"

She stiffened angrily. "How am I supposed to know? Probably 'cause he's a stupid asshole," she snapped. "Don't- Just don't worry about him, okay? His opinion doesn't matter."

"Oh." They drooped slightly. "But he keeps... avoiding me. You weren't the- I was wrong."

"What's that supposed to-" Kab stopped herself, taking a deep breath. Her voice was strained, but calmer when she asked, "Wrong about what, lil' buddy?"

"I wanted- I thought you were his friend," Amanita explained. "Well, it kind of... I mixed you up. With, uh, Maddie?"

"Ah." Her expression darkened. "Right. Maddie is his friend! Yes, right, of course she is," Kab spat.

...She was definitely angry at them. But they weren't sure why. "Do you... Kab, do you hate Clown?"

"I do. I really do. I hate his smug fuckin' face and his stupid words and the way he's taking away my-" Again, she stopped herself. This time, she didn't start talking again until she'd turned around and went back to what she was doing before Amanita had come over.

They were almost going to leave when she quietly said, "You should stay away from him, Amanita. Maybe it's better if he doesn't like you. I don't... I don't want to know what he could do to you."

Some strange feeling congealed in their gut. Were they angry, too? "I'm... sorry. For asking," they told her flatly.

Kab's head snapped towards them. "Lil' buddy, wait-"

They ignored her, shoving their way out the door and running into the field.

There were a couple of people nearby. Pyro and Rae. They didn't think they'd given them flowers yet. But suddenly, they didn't even want to give out flowers any more. They just wanted to go lay down for a while.

Columbo shows up to ask you if you saw anything the night of the murder. What seemingly unrelated topic do you talk about that gives him The Clue?

I show him how to make a pour over (this is a man who clearly has never drank anything besides percolator coffee) and I mention that yes, the victim did always drink their coffee black. So it’s kind of weird there was that milk spilled in his kitchen, isn’t it?

im 31, almost 32. the other day a poet was blasted online because at her "big age", she had written a poem about feeling unloved. top comment was "this woman is 29 by the way." this woman is too old to still be useful, by the way. she has to behave better . maybe if she was a good wife and mother she could stop existing loudly, and the story could continue on without her. this woman has served her purpose, by the way. she's so cringe, by the way. at 29 - so old! - she still hasn't figured out that her existence should be one of shame.

All the environments look so fun. Still World regions that possibly reflect the overworked regions. I want to discover their secrets.

Inktober 2023: Day 25-31

Finally...

Finish it!

Since I'm not doing NaNoWriMo this year (due to certain postponed real-life responsibility), I'll tidy this Inktober 2023 post series when I get the time and mood--and stories behind each drawing, perhaps.

Btw, having this "batch drawing" pattern is really enlightening. Apparently, my imagination-to-drawing transferring skill is faaaaaaar from "close enough". But at the same time, I'm glad that the vivid ideas from my mind got realized at all.

Also, it gave me time long enough to find good inspirations and short enough to prevent me from doubting the popping ideas and ending up not drawing anything. Probably the best middle-ground decision I've ever made for such project.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the journey and its results.

And still, would love to hear any thoughts on your interpretations, whether you like them or not, or share your own experience with this year's Inktober. Anything you would like to say to me :)

Being someone who read Under The Red Hood and came out with the firm belief that, for Jason, it's not about killing Joker, it's about Jason wanting proof Batman would choose him over the Joker (bc shelia chose the joker). Makes seeing any other media where it's all about just wanting the Joker dead is a teeny bit frustrating. to be honest

Jason could've killed the Joker himself, really, really easily. Jason kidnaps the Joker before the confrontation. I can't open my comic for a reference right now, but it felt like he had the Joker for quite a bit before the confrontation. He had him. He beat him up with a crowbar. He had every single opportunity to kill the Joker himself, but he didn't because that wasn't his goal. Make no mistake, he did plan for the Joker to be dead by the end of it, but do you see what im trying to say here

Edit: If I knew this post was gonna get 1000+ notes I would've tried to word it better or something, this was a rant I made on the way to the grocery store 😭

It's not about making Batman kill either. When Batman says he won't kill, Jason adjusts and goes, 'Let ME kill the Joker or kill me to stop me' instead. The test is all about Batman choosing him. The whole final confrontation is Jason's first death again. The parent, The Joker, and the explosives. It even ends with Jason unable to move as a bomb goes off right next to him again because the parent didn't choose Jason. And instead tried finding an option that'd benefit them and (consequencely) letting the Joker walk, again, lol, lmao <-in agony
