Okay, here it is! I'm so shook it came out this good (thank you zone outs) but I'm sure I'll be making changes later because, as everyone knows, it's only after you submit something that the errors become apparent. XD Also, please ignore the 7, I write random things when I'm stuck on how to proceed with a drawing and this 7 came out so perfect I didn't want to erase it when I was done. Seeing your recent work made me curious as to how you pick your colors? I always feel like mine are too flat.

ok im going to try and figure out how to break down my thinking process

i guess the first question is. what do you want your art to feel like? i dont say "look like" cause sometimes i fall into the trap of obsessing over a painting being one for one PERFECT while "feel like" helps me think about atmosphere

heres a some paintings with a few of the inpso color palletes i wanted them to "feel" like

Heres an example of how i would give myself a jumping off point.

In this homumiko painting i started off by thinking about how i wanted something that feels like a Jules Chéret poster.

Now the next question is. What are the rules to these set of paintings?

the use of pure primary colors, blue tends to be in the bg while yellow and red are the focal point

for this i wanted only the red dress to be the focal point with yellows being a less saturated and blue still being the bg. this means since herlock is the focal point mikotoba has to be muted. but i wanted to tie him and herlock together so made the flower in his hair the same color as the dress

Meanwhile my lastest otacon is a bit more complicated cause now we're dealing with lighting but again,

what are the rules to this set of nature paintings?

shadow areas are bluer

places where light hits the main figure will be an intense yellow

skin will be redder with darker areas being saturated red/brown and areas closer to the light source start skewing towards yellow

this is when we start getting into color theory and THAT is a whole nother can of worms. but its extremely helpful when trying to figure out how to add colors that arent in the inspo you picked out or figuring out what the FUCK is happing in pieces like this

those patches of purples in this are just a very specific type of red/orange grey tones matched in a way to make it feel like its blue. IT MAKES ME WANT TO SCREAM

i actually tried to attempt to figure it out while working on my pin up ryuu piece......

i hope that helped a little? I tend to stick to late 1800s/early 1900s art cause thats just my personal preference. so the colors im gonna pick are gonna limited a very specific way (if ur into history its really fun breaking down why certain colors appear in certain time periods and how styles evolved as more paints became readily available. or painting for portraits vs painting for mass printing vs painting for animated movies affects an artists pallete. or maybe u dont give a shit? in that case...ignore this....)

BUDLEY EXOTIC ESCAPADEEE!! I LOVE HIMM!! He's doing the zesty hand pose because he's zesty as fuck!! Also, I decided to stick to the actual style of the show, so I drew his jawline and hat as it is in the original design as opposed to how I would normally draw them.

MONTEZ!!! Not much to say about this one tbh, except that I still HATE drawing faces!!

ZEMMA!!! Definitely not one of my strongest pieces when it comes to the anatomy, but I still kinda love it. Plus, I got to experiment with Emma's hair and casual clothing. Also I just love how I switched Emma's scrunchie for Zee's hair tie and vice versa.

Here's Juliaaa!! This is probably the only drawing where I didn't hate drawing the backgrounds. Also this is my first time drawing Julia, and I gave her some earrings. Not much to say tbh.

MORE ZEE!!!! This drawing was originally just going to be a sketch for a friend of mine, but I eventually decided to turn it into a drawing and I'm very happy with it. And I know the heart hands aren't exactly "heart-shaped", but I tried my best.

Oooh, yikes... this drawing... I don't think it's necessarily horrible but I don't think it's great either. Drawing MK was a fucking nightmare, I did not have fun with this one. Originally I didn't want to draw the backgrounds but instead copy and paste the bg from the og show, but it looked horrible. I'm not sure if I'll draw her again...

ZEE AS A HOCKEY BRO!!! Aside from some small issues I have with it, I really liked how this one turned out!!! Now normally before I draw them digitally, I make a sketch first and trace over it on my drawing tablet. That wasn't the case with the raccoon logo, I designed it right out of my ass and I just love how it looks. I tried to make the jersey look baggy and I hope it translated well. Also the colours I used were from a bitmoji.

And here's Brad... Oh... I don't think this drawing is b(r)ad but... I just don't like the face. Also I really do not know if the anatomy is good with the neck connecting to the head. That's something that always confuses me, but I think I'm improving with my arm/hand anatomy, I think?

And finally, my YouTooz designs. As of now, I've only drawn 7 characters, Wayne, Raj, Zee (With Olivia von trashpanda), Millie, Ripper, Emma, and Caleb (With 2 additional variants of Ripper & Millie). I won't go over my descriptions for each of them, but I really do want to continue with these, it's been a long time. Maybe Bowie or MK are next? Those two seem like they'd be hard to make, so I'd rather finish them now than later.

My favorite bendy song, i had different versions of this song as an animatic for inky mystery (i want to animate it but i dont have enough skills to do it yet and its quite long) but there's this one particular version in my head where in WitchBrew was singing chorus 1, Mayhem and Not-Cup had their hands as if spinning the cog with Cuphead and Holly on it.

(Watch the mv first so u can get what im saying lol)This one is where Cuphead is henry and alice angel was holly-turning-to-mayhem. Mayhem taunts cuphead about the fact that he didnt manage to save holly from the cog

Alice's Tango (You will be mine) by chi chi

Literally just Mayhem dancing tango with Not-cup. He might be newly possessed since i imagined this with him having a bitter expression. (Compared to the art ones where he is smiling af lol) But yea, but him frowning or smiling and dancing with mayhem is still him dancing with mayhem, no matter whoch expression you or i choose lol

All eyes on me (squigglydigg's verison)

I love the og one, Or3o's version, but the og one's for sarah, it had some sweet evil girl tone in it. Whereas Squigglydigg's ver had Alice with a kind of that evil woman voice which is suiting mayhem. Its about her capturing the questers, tying them to a chair and make them watch her sing as they show her that they suppressed her from the cog. Cuphead manages to escape (Oh no no no no babe, hey!;- this is the part of the song where she caught cuphead loose from his ties) and i then she becomes insane as she sing and captures him back while pointing at him, blaming him for uhh everything...? *shrugs* lol

Are you proud of me now? (DAGames)

Ah yes, also one of my favorite songs. This is about holly and cuphead pulling the cog in replacement of audrey and the ink machine in DAGames mv. They bury the pressure that is put on them the the bg figures (Holly: bendy, fanny and cuphead. Cuphead: vicious,fanny, holly and mayhem) and then Mayhem is trying to pull Cuphead into madness when a memory ball revealed that holly is mayhem that is fully influenced by the cog. Cuphead back steps as mayhem is trying to get at him.

Lemme tell ya bud, giving this into detail is quite hard, but i told ya this the best that i can

Now onto the non-bendy songs!

Show yourself (frozen 2)

Hehe, quite weird to see a disney song here eh? XD but basically, this song is about Holly discovering the powers of the cog and some runes in some kind of old hidden Micco Cave. She followed the light where it leads her to Lukahd singing her and transforming her into Mayhem. The questers appeared at the end of the song and Mayhem raind down a cloud of runes she summoned. Cuphead was left flabbergasted at what happened. Alice's angel runes and bendy's demon magic protects them from the attack.

A sad song (we the kings)

This one is based from the Gala heartbreak. Holly goes into full mayhem which makes cuphead heartbroken as she shows bloodlust. But we also get to see Holly's pov which is cuphead laugh off and having fun with fanny and walking away from her as they talk.

And heres the most heartbreaking part; mayhem holds cuphead in a chokehold with her magic as she floats on her broom. Cuphead looks at her with teary eyes, but Mayhem showed no remorse. She was smiling ear to ear as she watched him in pain. Her memory of being holly and messing with the jokester cuphead is vanishing. She chose to ignore those aching memories because of the pain he caused.

Enchanted (taylor swift)

Aint a swiftie but ngl this song is amazing. Perfect for colly heartbreak. Again, this is based from the gala. Also goes along with the storyline of A Sad Song. But this is more on holly's pov tho. This also includes some moments from the gala, when she spied on the cupbros (cuphead hung her on a tree) etc. and then shifts to mayhem attacking cuphead with regrets carved on his glassy eyes.

All of this is kinda hard to get into detail, i tried my best and thats it. Hope u understand my explanations😅

Yes, you read that right, an fnf song XD

This one's cool cuz i imagine Notcup having a bit of characteristics from Nightmare Cuphead's form (indie cross).

I imagine him assisting Mayhem of defeating the Questers cuz they were on a hunt for them during the song. Mayhem unleashing her most horrifying abilities and Cuphead shooting blazing hot pink bullets. He still has all of the potion bullets like the chaser, lobber and peashooter etc, its just in pink.

Or possibly theyre fighting sarah, instrument boris and the night terror cuz sarah considered mayhem (and possibly notcup) as anomalies.

oh! i experiment a lot with colors and effects (most of which i don't even remember the name SOB) but i can give you a summarized version of my steb by step on how i art

first of all, the colors!

here's the og, and you can probably see that in most of my art i tend to use grays and soft colors a lot and that's because it's easier for me to pick a 'theme' if you will? like 1 bright color that pops and the rest is a lot less harsh and that's what helps me define the contrary color and base my editing on that!

like here is where i usually choose my colors! but you can pick something darker and more saturated too idk i don't think it'll affect the end result- at least as long as you can change contrast and lighting in your program. i know color theory but not enough to explain it hhh :'D <333

so now use the wind tool on photoshop (there's some free editing versions online that will work just the same) and if you don't have or wanna use Ps, firealpaca and medibang have similar enough options- use motion blur, then the curves tool to make it look liiike

this! now blur the piece from a 5 to 10 range depending on how big your piece is, then you'll have that soft fuzzy outline! put some random static on top (very low opacity) then sharpen the whole thing if your art is very small like mine here so you can see details xD

use the lighten mode on your next layer and add a blue tint to the character (and leave the pop color untouched: here the yellow bg)

if you want a vhs look! and add more line-like static (just google static images and mess with colors/edit them yourself if you can't find any good options on your art program) and change up the hues and tints/contrast if you really wanna lean into the vhs asthetic like:

these! and add a 3D effect (or chromatic aberration? i think that's what the translation is cause my settings are in french xD do look it up if you can't find it on ibispaint, clip studio or whatever program you're using!)

i really suck at explaining so i don't consider this a tutorial, but mostly me rambling about effects and editing hhh but honestly? best advice i can give you is try every single effect you can and see how it looks with hues and color changers added on top of it!

stumble upon new effects and learn how to replicate them without needing to rely on special layers or tools if you're looking to improve your coloring!! >:Dc i only use these because my version of sai doesn't have a blur tool cause i pick the colors myself in most cases now :') but as i said i'm bad at explaining so hope it kinda sorta helped? a little? hhh<3333

hey! just wanted to say i haven’t had a whole lot of motivation to draw recently (which isn’t great considering im literally an art student) but your drawing streams have been helping me get back into the swing of things! its been fun to work on stuff with them playing in the bg

that’s awesome to hear!! does my heart good to know as that was a hopeful side goal of mine for starting these streams :) i obviously wanted to encourage myself to practice more consistently but there was always a part of it that was like oh this would maybe be nice for viewers to have a consistent place to practice as well

this was fanart for a multi-animator project that's still in the works here, I didn't come up w the designs or anything but I'm proud of it honestly and I didn't really draw much during 2022 cause I was just finishing up my senior year of highschool. I should color the lineart more often ITS FUN TO DO!

I'm gonna put 2 because I wanna acknowledge more of my stufff (I gotta work on liking my stuff moreeee) I was gonna add like a bunch of designs I really liked because I am insane and did mostly wc designs and style experimentation as that was popular at the time in the community. But I actually found a bg i did for an animation that's really good wtf 2022 Max

While going through my files, I realized I struggle to like my art a lot because I'm used to having to ask myself "is it good art?". I grew up w the shit of deviantart cringe and people criticizing kids all the time for stuff so I got stuck on the mindset of I could only really like my work if it was "good" art... Anyway you learn something new everyday WOW (not everything i draw is good to me but i should still cherish it and stuff, it's just hard, i'm still horribly bitter about some stuff i drew as i was learning earlier this year. its not bad but i am overly critical. I'm working on it, I'm still getting comfortable drawing non-cat things in the first place, looking at my old stuff is helps me :])
