Black or purple! Though once I edited one of the journalist colors to fit my grumpsona, Rossay, n that was fun! I still have the files, but it went away after a game update im pretty sure.

Loominbert originally got into journalism straight out of college because they thought it'll be a good n easy job to take (cause they loved the news, interviews, and learning about what's going on). After years and years of working at GNN, they realized how draining their job has been and one day they were just like "Okay I need to find a way to prove that cryptids exist so I can quit this fuckin job and spend my time chasing after weird creatures." And like… I guess that wish came true if bugsnax could be considered cryptids??? Maybe?? Some doodles of a slightly younger Loominbert, they used to know how to smile and didn't constantly look bored out of their mind lol.

⌚: What do you think some of the grumpuses were like before events? (I.e. as kids, as teens, etc)

As a kid Floofty did Not want to have a sibling. They didn't get along with other kids their age (like 5-6) so when their parents were like "Hey look you have a brother now," with Snorpy they were sooo fuckin mad. Obviously as they got older they learned to be more chill around Snorpy; even if they were still slightly annoyed about having to be an older sibling. Snorpy however always seemed to like Floofty. He would copy everything they did and thought that they were the smartest grump in the world. Like Floofty would start talking like a thesaurus and kid Snorpy would be all like "Wowwww my sibling is so smart and cool :0!!! I need to talk like that now wowww!!!" They only actually drifted apart after the whole deal with the government n stuff, and didn't talk to one another until Snaktooth (I like to think that in game Snorpy's 28 while Floofty's 33, so they hadn't talked to one another in about 5-6 years? Probably?).

Cause it feel appropriate to mention Chandlo here, Floofty and their parents felt completely neutral about Chandlo. He was the only non-familial grump who frequently visited their home, cause the Fizzlebean parents never really invited people like coworkers or friends over to their house, and Floofty Did Not get along with any of their peers. While they did sometimes think Chandlo acted to rowdy sometimes and was very impulsive, they were glad that Snorpy had someone he truly got along with. Floofty was the only one aware of Snorpy's obvious crush on Chandlo, their parents never caught on until way after Snaktooth when Snorpy reintroduced Chandlo as his boyfriend n they were like "??? This guy??? Really??? Ok???" lol

So since I have been talking a bit about my bugsnax au recently (and probably will post some of it), I have decided to post a reference for my journalist oc! I used the official grumpus picrew to make a decent visual reference

Budleby “Buddy” M. Butterbean

27 years old (when the game story happens)

They/them, pan

Younger sibling of Elizabert Megafig (younger by 5 years)

Wanted to make a name for themselves, and that’s why they don’t use the Megafig name with any form of work

Canon height and body type

Dark grey, almost black fur. Has a thick stripe of white markings on both arms (across the biceps), as well as a white circle mark on their back

I think tails and toe beans are fun, so they have a thin tail with a hair thuft on the end which is white as well as the toe and paw beans

Their hat was a gift from Lizbert and Eggabell once they got a full time job at GNN, so they could have a proper journalist hat. They also wear a lighter brown sleeveless coat, both to hide the mark on their back, and to have many pockets for stuff they need

They have had headaches and weird dreams/nightmares since they were little, but they stopped at Snaxtooth

Decent/good relationship with all of the krew, but closer with the ones they knew before plus Triffany and the Fizzlebeans

“Adopts” both Sprout and Joey Quickbeans during their stay at Snaxtooth

Allergic to Bugsnax, but thought relativly ahead of time and had good stock of canned food and water. The water lasts the entire trip, the food does not, so they have to rely on sauce after around a month

Very helpful, usually puts others safety above their own, but has a "done with everyone" attitude at times. Uses the "catching bugsnax" excuse when they don't think they can help Filbo take down an argument (They genuinely help Filbo a lot, and they become very close both at Snaxtooth and after (no romance though since Lizbert sees Filbo as a younger brother, and Buddy sees him as a sibling as well after a while))

Looks up to Clumby as a mentor, which is why it hurt them a bit extra when they were fired, even more with the knowledge Clumby was a snakolyte and they and the krew could be in danger

Travels a lot alone, but has contacts everywhere, making it difficult for the snakolytes to make any of the krew "disappear". Travels by train or bus, but prefers their airship. The airship is named "Theseus", because they like mythology and think "the ship of Theseus" is an interesting dilemma. They look at it a bit different after Snaxtooth though-

A good cook! Very disappointed they couldn't do anything at Snaxtooth, as they neither had the materials and the others were more interested in eating bugsnax anyway, but they get to show off afterwards (Lizbert only eating meals prepared by them or Eggabell)

Still working on them as none of them have names or colours Imao (well except Bean bc they are my sona), but small rambles about them under cut!

Bean and a Bunger, bc I luv Bunger (also space filler Imao)

First Grumpus is a tall male, kinda stereotypical hippy personality. A bit like Sheilda, but I am deciding whether he likes her or if they butt heads bc he realised she’s a fraud... Fave snax are Snaquiri and Pinantula, but doesn’t actively go after them bc he’s lazy Also loves brightly coloured shirts, and has very large paws compared to most

Second Grumpus is a mid-sized gal, kinda standoffish and a very ‘ugh whatever’ tone. She can be aggressive but only resorts to physical violence as a last option (that knife is not just for show!!) Besides that she likes Grapeskeetos and Scorpenyo/Scorpeppers bc they’re ‘cool’, but her fave to eat are Sherbie and Scoopy (she has a sweet spot for ice creams)

And third Grumpus is a little floofy lady! She might be related to Gramble as a cousin (but neither realise), and she’s similar in personality to him but more outgoing and more forgiving when it comes to letting others eat Snax around her She likes all the Snax but her absolute faves are the Sweetieflies (to look at, not to eat)
