Blitzø: Hey whoa there. Let’s not get too worked up. We don’t know anything! Stolas please—

Stolas: *breathing heavily* H-he almost killed me before! Even when I had powers! He has angelic weapons! He could have! *vision starts spinning and turning red*

Blitzø: Stolas! Let’s just find Striker and talk to him!

Stolas: AND AFTER I RAISED HIS KIDS?! HE KILLS MINE?! *immediately realized what he shouted and looks over, seeing Wesson and Winnie with stunned expressions*

Blitzø: Oh…fuck…

Wesson: *goes silent*

Winnie: *begins to shake with fear* P-papa?

Stolas: Winnie…Wes…I didn’t mean—

Wesson: *runs back to his room and slams the door shut*

Winnie: *starts crying immediately and runs to Blitzø*

Blitzø: Oh Winnie Bear! It’s okay. Papa didn’t mean to be so mean. He’s just hurting right now.

Stolas: I’m so sorry my dear! I never wanted to hurt you or Wesson!

Winnie: Is it true? *sniffle* Are we…not yours?

Stolas: *reaches down and holds Winnie* I’m your Papa…I’ve loved and cared for you since you were a baby…you are my daughter in spirit…*looks at Blitzø for strength*

Blitzø: Winnie, you know how Loona is your big sister even though I’m an imp and Stolas is an owl?

Winnie: *nodding slowly* S-she was adopted.

Blitzø: Exactly. And Stolas adopted you and Wesson! *runs around and begins looking for something and then pulls it a photo album Stolas has been working on* Here! This was the day the paperwork went through!

Blitzø was busy bustling around the kitchen, a worn apron tied loosely around his waist. Winnie and Wesson were seated at the small dining table, happily munching on their pancakes. The air was filled with the warm smell of syrup and the chatter of the twins.

Blitzø: *grinning as he clears their plates* Alright, munchkins, finish up. Daddy’s gotta get you to school before they send me another one of those passive-aggressive notes about being late.

Wesson: *through a mouthful of pancake* But I like bein’ late! Then I don’t have to listen to the boring stories at the start!

Winnie: *giggling* Miss Tammy says punctuality is important!

Blitzø: *rolling his eyes, smirking* Miss Tammy also says my coffee’s too strong. What does she know?

Just as Blitzø was about to herd the kids toward their backpacks, the sound of the front door unlocking caught his attention. He froze, his sharp eyes snapping to the entrance.

The door creaked open, and Stolas stepped inside, his tall figure framed by the soft morning light. He looked exhausted, his usually pristine plumage slightly ruffled, but he wore a calm, almost practiced smile.

Stolas: *gently* Good morning, everyone.

The twins immediately perked up, their little voices chorusing a cheerful greeting.

Wesson: Papa! You’re back!

Winnie: Papa, look! We had pancakes!

Stolas crouched down, opening his arms as the twins rushed to him. He hugged them tightly, his smile soft but strained.

Stolas: *looking at them with warmth* Pancakes, hmm? That sounds delightful. I missed you both so much.

Blitzø watched from the kitchen, wiping his hands on the apron. He forced a grin, trying to push down the nervous flutter in his chest.

Blitzø: *excited* Didn’t think you’d be back so soon, feathers!

Stolas: *straightening up, his tone casual* The meeting was... shorter than expected. I wanted to see the children before they left for school.

Blitzø nodded, but there was something in Stolas’s gaze that unsettled him. It wasn’t anger, but there was a weight behind his usual warmth—a tension he couldn’t quite place.

Stolas: *after a pause, his tone light but firm* Blitzø, when you return, we need to talk. It’s important.

The words hung in the air like a storm cloud. Blitzø’s grin faltered for the briefest moment, but he quickly covered it up with a shrug.

Blitzø: *with a forced chuckle* Yeah, sure. You know where to find me.

Stolas nodded, his expression unreadable, before turning his attention back to the twins.

Stolas: *stooping to kiss their foreheads* Have a wonderful day at school, my darlings. Be good for your teachers.

Winnie: *smiling brightly* We will, Papa!

Wesson: Can I tell them we had a cowboy visit?!

Blitzø stiffened at the question, but Stolas simply raised an eyebrow, a flicker of curiosity crossing his face.

Stolas: *mildly amused* A cowboy?

Blitzø: *rushing to grab the kids’ backpacks* It’s a long story but I’ll explain when we talk later.

Stolas: Alright then.

Blitzø: Come on kids, let’s go before we’re late!

He ushered the twins out the door, their excited chatter trailing behind him. Once they were gone, Stolas stood alone in the quiet apartment, his smile fading.

He walked over to the kitchen and mindlessly began cleaning up like a good housewife. He shut his eyes and just let himself wallow in sadness for the moment.
