All three Bengal kittens have been rescued
So I made a post yesterday about how I had to catch all the stray Bengal kittens I'd be made aware of and said that I'd hopefully post the full story when I had them all. Well, it's storytime!
So some backstory here: When I was 8-12 years old my parents and I breed and raised Bengals cats. Some of you are going to get the wrong idea from that sentence so let me assure you that we were VERY responsible breeders and also a very small operation. We only ever breed three Bengals (our "queens") and we did not keep any adult male cats at the same time to breed them with. Instead, we took them all the way down to West Virginia to the lady we'd gotten our first one from and she bred them for us. During those four years we were a business, Shanti had three litters, Rosie had two, and Diamond had one. They were not over-bred and the kittens were well cared for. In fact we even fostered a mother cat who we did not own, who had EIGHT kittens which we then hand fed and raised because the mom couldn't take care of them.
That was Crystal's litter, if you happen to have been here a couple months ago and seen my post about her when she died. Crystal was 17 when she died. Shanti was 18. Rosie was 14 and I believe Diamond was 12. Diamond and Rosie only died "early" because they had health complications that we could not fix despite all our efforts and it was kinder to let them go then let them suffer.
So. We love Bengal cats. LOVE them. However, we also know just how much it costs to get one and we knew we'd never be able to afford another.
Enter a longtime family friend who works in a nearby town and has known us since our Bengal cat raising days.
Three weeks ago she sent my mom a text with a picture of a BEAUTIFUL snow Bengal who she said was living on the streets. Nobody wanted her, this beautiful little cat. So, a few days later, I ventured out to investigate and see if this cat could be caught because I am the crazy cat girl and always have been (the friend who told us about the cat even said I'd "always had a way with animals").
I get there and find out two things very quickly upon meeting this cat. One, it is a BABY. Like, not a tiny baby, but 5-6 months old. And two, it is starving. Like, it's not just hungry, I can see and feel its ribs and backbone VIVIDLY. I am immediately in love and committed to saving this precious baby.
I try and fail to capture the kitten two days in a row (and like, when I say fail, I mean that I managed to pick it up and one day get it in a crate, I just couldn't zip the crate shut fast enough before it wiggled out). On the third day I meet a woman who works where I've been trying to catch the cat and she tells me it belongs to someone. I am skeptical, but I listen because I don't want to steal someone's cat, obviously. She tells me what house she thinks the cat is from and encourages me to find out if the lady who owns it will give/sell me the cat. In light of this I put the cat crate I'd been bringing away, but stay to feed the cat. And then I find out something else that's incredibly important.
There's another Bengal kitten.
As I'm feeding the little snow a beautiful little black spotted kitten appears and demands food as well. My brain says "Bengal" but I'd never had one like this so I take pictures to show my parents and check out later. My mom recognizes it as a charcoal Bengal and is immediately in love with it.
But, we were told the snow belongs to someone, so a couple days later on my mom's half work day we head over (in the rain) to ask the people in the house if it's their cat or not. We meet a nice lady with a little girl who tells us that she has no idea who's cat it is and it isn't theirs. She tells us she'd be happy if we took it, especially if it's starving!
So the next day I return with the intent to capture the charcoal and the snow. I find a little charcoal in the parking lot I've been working out of and put some canned cat food in a crate to try and lure it. It walks right into the crate. I lock it in. One kitten down. I don't catch the snow, but hey, I got one, right? I take the kitten to the local APL to make sure it isn't microchipped and it's not! So, with the blessing of the APL I take it home.
This little dude is the friendliest, chillest Bengal I've ever met. He was SILENT when I was driving him home. I have NEVER had a Bengal be silent in a crate. He is the loviest little guy you'll ever meet, so happy to be rescued.
For the next couple days I go back and continue to befriend the little snow, making up for what we lost when I tried to catch it the first two days and it got wary of me. Then, yesterday, I'm feeding the little snow, trying to catch her, when, out of nowhere-
ANOTHER charcoal appears. I am shook. I HAD thought that the charcoal boy looked different from the one I took pictures of, but... I figured it was the lighting/environment or something! I NEVER expected there to ACTUALLY be three babies!
And then charcoal 2 walks straight into the crate just like her brother did. I have no choice but to take her home and come back for snow another day, I cannot leave this other baby here.
So I bring baby number 2 home to my equally shocked parents. She is the feistiest little cat, the exact opposite of her brother's purrsonality. She is the embodiment of chaos- but she does love hugs and cuddles.
And then today, after praying, begging, PLEADING with God to let me rescue the cat I ACTUALLY WENT TO SAVE-
I caught the little snow. She has been so excited to see me the past two days! Running right up to me chattering away for food. She's such a precious baby. She wouldn't walk into the crate, but I felt like God was telling me it was time, so as I was petting her, I scruffed her (a harmless action, especially to a kitten) put her in the crate (a non zipper one this time) and slammed the door shut. Put her in my car and drove her home, promising her the life of a princess she's always deserved.
So now, two months after our last Bengal died, God gave us three Bengal kittens. Three beautiful, STUNNING, Bengal kittens who somehow, despite having been in the streets, love hugs and cuddles and pets.
There are two girls and one boy. The girls' names are Maraly (the spirited, fiesty charcoal) and Leeli (the precious little snow with a musical voice). We haven't settled on a name for the boy yet, we're debating between Kalmar and T'challa because both are kingly and both suit him. (I suggested Kalmar obviously xD) They're all safely contained in individual crates (not cat crates, we have old dog crates/pens and a big soft-sided cat pen that they're in) on our screened in front porch, so they're very safe. They can see each other, but they've been understandably distressed so for safety they're separated unless we're out there with them.
Like, I cannot stress how funny this is. God sent me after a little snow Bengal, then made the situation drag out until I'd caught the two charcoal babies. Then easy as could be I caught the snow, the one I was ORIGINALLY THERE FOR. And all this two months after we realized we'd never have Bengals again. God truly has a sense of humor.
#cats#wholesomeness#there's some good in this world#kittens#bengal kittens#bengal cats#the wingfeather kittens#ajghklahdgjsfagjsf#kitten rescue#hopefully soon we'll have good pictures of them to post#me for years: I want a kitten so bad#God: lol okay how about three kittens#I see no downside to this#they're siblings btw#they're all the same age all bengals all in the same place the girls have the same face two are charcoals- yeah they're siblings#our adult cats are all so confused#except tansy she's 14 now and Idk if she just can't hear them or if she just. doesn't care xD#she's been around long enough to remember us having cats of all shapes and sizes#and she raised Sid from a kitten not much older than these three#but sid IS the baby and Idk if he's ever seen a kitten xD#belle and padfoot keep looking for the babies in the house they can HEAR them where ARE they#they're gonna be SO excited to have bengals to play with (after we make sure the kittens are healthy)#because they ALWAYS loved our bengals but the bengals did NOT love them xD#sid keeps coming up to the front porch steps and staring at the babies through the screen like “?!?! what u doin with the tiny cats?!”#now that I have all three I can FINALLY start enjoying having them#instead of just WORRYING over poor little leeli#I love them your honor

Daminette/Maribat Fairy Tail Au Part 2
Part 1
As the months turned into years Marinette's bond grew stronger with her spirits and her guild mates
Durning this time she gained 2 more golden gate keys, Pollen spirit of subjection, and Kaalki spirit of teleportation
Kaalki was one of Damian's favorite spirit because most of the time she eliminated the need for long travel on vehicles that make him sick
Marinette was able to use star dress with Tixx and Pollen now, but Kaalki refused to do it so far, which Marinette respected
Damian, Marinette, and Jon's team became one of the top teams in the guild
Though they didn't have an official name a lot of the other guild members called them team Hatchling much to their chagrin
Marinette also noticed that Damian was very protective of her
He still let her fight and go on missions with other people, but he was also quick to shield her or step in front of her when facing off against dark wizards
Marinette acted like she was annoyed with it sometimes, but really she was flattered and couldn't help but feel a little flustere at his actions
Jon sometimes joked that he felt like a third wheel, but never made him feel left out or unwanted
They were a tight knit team so much so that when Marinette, the youngest of the group, turned 18 they decided to pool their money and buy a house together
They ended up buying a nice 2 story house close to the guild
It had 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms
It was decided early on after Damian almost burned down the kitchen that cooking would be left to Marinette and Jon and Damian would do any repair work that was needed around the house
About a month after moving in together Marinette started to wake up with Damian in her bed
Not like that you weirdos
Marinette would go to sleep alone in her bed and wake up snuggling with Damian
Not that she minded, but she did wish that he would at least ask before he snuck in
Damian claimed no knowledge in how he got in her bed
He says that he would fall asleep in his own bed and wake up in hers
When he told his brothers they all got the same smug look
Dick: oh you're growing up so fast hatchling
Jason: I guess we should be expecting wedding bells in the future now, huh?
Tim: Should have known, you wouldn't bring just anybody back to the guild with you
Damian: What are you morons babbling about? And I brought Marinette back because she's a powerful wizard
Dick: We're talking about how you are showing all the signs of a dragon slayer whi has found his mate
Damian: WHAT?!?!
Jason: That's right Demon Spawn, it looks like you found your mate
Tim: Dick acted the exact same way when he first met Kori
Damian continued to deny it until one day he found Marinette trying on her new white sundress that flowed around her like water
Something just clicked in his brain
Marinette was his mate no doubt about it
Now he only had to tell Marinette that
And he had every intention to tell Marinette there was just never a good time
As time past the Grand Magic Games approached
This is the first year that Damian, Jon, and Marinette were competing along with Dick, Jason, and Tim
This was also the first year that Marinette's old guild was competing
Their team consisted of Adrien, Alya, Nino, Lila, Natalie, and Ms. Bustier
Unknown to the Justice League guild Grabriel had a nefarious plot cooking up
Gabriel had ordered Lila and Natalie to try and get Marinette's keys no matter what
Marinette was the only person who stood in his way of attaining the final 6 golden keys
Once he gets those keys his wish can be granted and nobody will be able to stand in his way ever again
This wasn't the first time he tried to get the keys from the blasted girl
He sent wizard after wizard to get those keys and all were defeated and either sent back or sent off to jail
He even tried to send a dark guild after the girl and that led to her joining freaking Justice League!
He hoped that with all of the choas from the Grand Magic Games that getting the keys would be easy
Oh boy was he wrong
Marinette was nervous
This would be the first time Marinette would see her old guild in about 3 years
She hoped for the best, but new she wouldn't get it
And she was proven right as her, Damian, and Jon were making her away back to their hotel after exploring the city when they were stop by her old team
Alya: Oh if it isn't the weak little wizard that abandoned us
Marinette sighing: Hey guys how is it going
Lila: Great our team's status has gone way up since you left. We should have kicked you off the team way before
Marinette: You didn't kick me out I left on my own after you abandoned me with no way to protect myself from a dangerous wizard
Nino: Dont be so dramatic dudette. It's not like you got seriously hurt or anything.
Lila: In all honesty the only downside was losing that quick clean up your spirit did. You should have really left her and the rest of your keys with us.
Lila held out her hand like she actually expected Marinette to hand over her keys to her
Marinette stepped back covering her keys with her hands
Damian stepped in front of Marinette and Jon stepped closer to her side
Damian: You know compulsive rings are illegal. Luckily for us we were trained on how to spot those and other illegal rings right away, because their weakness is awareness
Lila growled under her breath
Why couldn't Marinette make this easy for her. It's not like she even deserve those keys
Adrien glaring: And who are you?
Jon: I'm Jon her guildmate
Damian: I'm Damian her...Guildmate!
Damian wanted to say mate, but he still hadn't had that talk with her yet about it and this was definitely not how he wanted her to find out
Alya snorting: Anothe rguild actually took you in? Who did you trick to pull that off
Marinette: I didn't trick anybody! I earned my spot in Justice League!
Marinette showed off her guild mark to her ex-friends
All their jaws dropped
Damian: That's right so unless you want to make some very powerful enemies you'll leave us alone
Damian wrapped his arm around Marinette's shoulder and lead her away from her ex-guild mates with Jon on her other side running her arm in comfort
The games started the next day full of different competitions and different match ups
Marinette hadn't had to go one on one against her ex guild yet until she was put up against Lila in a match up
The two girls stood across from eachother glaring
Lila in the taunting voice how about we make this more interesting Dupen-Cheng. If I win I get your celestial keys if you win I will admit every lie I've ever told
Marinette glaring even harder: NO WAY LILA! No decent celestial wizard would trade their keys away on a bet. My spirits are my friends. No, they're more than that they're my family, I would rather die then let you touch even 1 of them!
Lila with and evil glint in her eye: So be it. If you win it's not like it would actually count. You'll just hide behind you spirits the whole time
Marinette glared at the girl wanting to prove her wrong
The battle that followed was brutal
Marinette didn't call her celestial spirits right away she used her star dress to fight Lila
She would switch between her star dresses impressing the crowd
She switch from ladybug, to black cat, to turtle, which was a soldier looking outfit, to Bee, which was black overall shorts with a yellow off the shoulder crop top striped tights and yellow converses with her hair in a bun.
Marinette finished Lila using her fox star dress creating a illusion of herself to lure Lila out and knocked her out with a blow to the back of her head
Marinette won
She felt a weight ahe didn't realize was there lift off her shoulders
She just proved that everything Lila had ever said about her and other celestial wizards wrong
She felt her teammates engulf her in a hug yelling congratulations before lifting her up and carrying her out of the stadium cheering
The rest of the games were just as exhilarating the final match up that will decide if Justice League or Miraculous Moth would win the whole tournament was between Damian and Adrien
Damian remember all the times Marinette cried over how her old team treated her and he wanted revengs
Nobody treated his mate like that and got away from it
The battle was brutal if one boy gained the upper hand the other would take it back quickly
But Damian won the match up and the tournament with a well time shadow dragon roar
Justice League piled into the stadium surrounding Damian as they cheered over their victory as Adrien was being carried out by medics
Marinette squeezed her way through the crowd reaching Damian
Marinette: Congregations Damian you did great
Damian: Thanks Ang-
Marinette cut him off with a kiss on the lips
Damian froze for a moment before wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her back enjoying every second of it
The two vaguely registered that the cheering seemed to get louder but ignored it
The guild continued the celebrate throughout the night
Most of the guild was so hungover the next day that they had to put off leaving till another day
A decision they would soon regret as they were attacked the next day by Miraculous Moth
Apparently Grabriel was tired if waiting and decided to attack Justice League whe. He thought they would be at their weakness
Miraculous Moth wasn't as powerful as as Justice League, but they had more members
It was 4 to 1
But Justice League refused to give down without a fight
The battle that followed destroyed half of the town they were in
Luckily Barry, Wally, and Kaalki were able to work together using speed and teleportation magic to get the civilians out of the town
During the climax of the battle Marinette finally learned what type of magic her former guild master possessed
He was a celestial wizard just like her
He also had 6 golden gate keys
During the fight Marinette called put Tikki and Plagg while having Wayzz star dress while Gabriel called his own spirits
Gabriel: Give up you stupid girl! You're no match for me!
Marinette hiding behind her shield: Why are you doing this?
Grabiel: To bring back my wife and to gain power over the celestial king
Marinette: You're planning on using the 12 golden gate keys to form a key for the celestial king!?! That will destroy the other spirits! IT WILL KILL THEM!!! I CAN'T LET YOU DO THIS!
Gabriel: And what are you going to do about it?
Marinette darted her eyes around trying to think of a solution when her eyes landed on Damian and she remember a spell her grandfather taught her. One that only the most powerful celestial wizards could cast, and one that must only be used in emergencies.
Marinette closed Tikki's and Plagg's gates before yelling to Damian
Marinette: DAMIAN CATCH!
Marinette threw her keys to Damian who gave her a confused looked but trusted Marinette and her apparent plan
Marinette charged towards Gabriel not dropping her star dress until the very last minutes
Marinette grabbed his keys not letting go as Gabriel tried to claw them out of his hands: Scattered these keys to the four winds. Use the stars as their guide to lead them to partners. Let them shoot across the sky like falling stars and hope that they land within good hands!
As Marinette finished her spell Gabriel's key ring exploded sending his keys across the continent.
The shock wave from the explosion pushed Marinette and Gabriel back
The shock was just what Justice League needed to end the battle and win
Gabriel: NNNOOOOO!!! What have you've done?
Marinette: I've scattered your keys and I won't let you hurt any of them ever again.
With the battle over and Miraculous Moth in custody life was able to settle down
Damian was finally able to talk to Marinette about them being mates
They started dating and 2 years in after a sorcerers' weekly article (a/n: going to do a seperate ova post telling that story) Damian marked her as his mate showing everybody they were together forever
Team Hatchlings adventures continued on for many years
Through marriage, kids, and old age the team of three remained the best of friends, Damian and Marinette welcoming Jon's wife into their team with open arms
No matter what the friends stuck together and fought for what was not only for themselves and their friends but for the future.

Circus {H.K}
Day 1 (XII)

in which two idols find their soulmates in each other after thirteen days of little comments without knowing who the other was

As the choreographer allows a break, the members of the band sit and cool down while the arguably most chaotic member sings Circus by Britney Spears quite loudly. The sound of footsteps running in the hall catches the attention of the band as someone yells, "FREE BRITNEY!" before they continue running down the hall.
Confused, Chang Nari looks around the room, her band mates equally confused before she realizes that those are the first words her soulmate says to her. She rushes to look outside the door into the hallway, unfortunately too late to see the culprit. Sighing, she walks back to her band mates and takes a sip of her water.
"What was that?" Eun asks. "My soulmate." She shrugs. Osamu spits his water out in shock. "What!?" All four members ask at the same time. "Free Britney." She says showing them her wrist. "H.K, 18, XII." Hyejin reads.
"Okay, your soulmate is eighteen, good you won't catch a case. Twelve months? Days? Minutes?" Yejun says. "Unless you keep track it's hard to tell. Mine said twelve and then the next minute it said eleven so that's how I kept track and found my soulmate twelve minutes after our concert." Osamu says.
"Duri is so amazing." Hyejin gushes over Osamu's soulmate. "Well it's been a minute and it hasn't changed so it's not minutes." Nari says. "Okay, back to practice." The choreographer says. Practice goes well and soon the band is going back to their dorm.
The bands dorm is five bedrooms so each member has their own and that proves convenient for when someone wants a guest over. Opening the door, Hyejin hears a loud meow and a hello. "Duri!" Eun yells, running to the kitchen where Duri is cooking for the band. "Nabi!" Nari yells, picking up the small kitten that ran to her.
Petting the four month old cat, Nari walks to the kitchen were everyone has gathered. "Hi, Duri!" She smiles at the older female. "Hi, Nari. Nabi was very talkative today." She smiles back. "She seems to get more and more talkative every day." Yejun says.
"She also gets more energetic each day." Hyejin says. "She's only a kitten, of course she's energetic." Nari defends. A knock on the door pulls their attention and Nari goes to open it as she's the closest. She looks out the peephole before she opens it. "Hello?" She says. "Hello, are you one of the members of H.O.N.E.Y?" He asks her.
"Yes, how can I help?" She asks. "I'm Kang Taehyun of Tomorrow x Together, we wanted to know if you guys have any time that we can meet and ask for advice? BTS recommended asking you guys for more advice if we need it." He says. "One moment." She smiles turning to face the kitchen.
"CAN SOMEONE BRING ME THE PLANNER AND A PEN AND ALSO GRAB NABI FROM ME!?" She yells. "YEAH." Eun yells back. Eun brings the planner and a pen and grabs Nabi from Nari's arms. "Okay, so, we are really busy training this week but we are available two Tuesdays from now, that's in twelve days." She says. Taehyun pulls out his phone and checks his calendar.
"We're free then, where do you want to meet?" He asks. "Just bring your band here, as long as no ones allergic to cats." She says. "None of us are, So two Tuesdays from now, here, what time?" He asks. "Two in the afternoon?" She asks. "That works, thank you." He says with a bow. "It's no problem." She smiles.
She closes the door an shoes back to the kitchen. "WE MADE IT!" She yells. "What!?" Yejun asks. "BTS recommended a newer band to us for advice." She smiles. "Ooh, what band?" Hyejin asks. "Tomorrow x Together." She answers, grabbing the pencil from next to the calendar. She finds the Tuesday that's planned and writes 'txt at 2pm'.
"Oh, oh, uhh, they have that song with morse code at the beginning that they debuted with, right?" Yejun asks Osamu. "Yeah, Crown." Osamu confirms. "They also have anti-romantic, which has a tiktok dance." Eun says. "I like Nap of a star." Hyejin says. "Two Tuesdays from now at 2pm?" Eun asks. "Yes, it's on the planner and the calendar, just like always." Nari confirms.
"Taehyun came to the door and introduced himself. He said that BTS recommended us if they needed more advice." She gushes. "You look up to them so much it's hilarious." Eun laughs. "They have over 47 million followers on instagram and they have like over 35 million monthly listeners on spotify. They have fans in probably every country, they have worked with Halsey and others, they have broken so many barriers in the Kpop world, and they have won countless awards. Why wouldn't I look up to them?" She asks.
"Your fan girl is showing, Nari." Duri laughs. "Oh well, it's not a secret I'm an army." She shrugs. Duri finishes cooking dinner and plates it for everyone before they sit and eat together. They share light conversation, just bonding as they usually do. "I'm thinking about getting a puppy." Nari says randomly after a few moments of silence.
"No you aren't." Eun says. "Yeah, I'm not. It's like that one time I said I was going to cut my hair short, I don't mean it I just said it because I thought about it." I shrug. "Do you wanna dye your hair tonight? I have leftover pink and with your black roots it'll look really good, we can just put it over the bleached part." Hyejin says. "Yes, as soon as we finish dinner that way I have time to shower and be well rested for tomorrow." She says.
After dinner, Osamu and Yejun do the dishes while Hyejin and Nari go to the bathroom and Eun goes and sits in the living room with Duri. Nari sets up her phone to do a live while Hyejin works on her hair. "Hello, hello." She waves as people start joining. "How's my day? My days been very good, we did a lot of practicing dances and then we came home and ate a nice dinner and now Hyejin is dying my hair." She says.
"What color? Pink." She answers. "I got an idea, you trust me right?" Hyejin asks her. "Yes, do whatever you want to my hair." She replies. "Favorite english word? Ricochet or maybe bodacious. I like to say words like ethereal and surreal as well though." She says.
"Something exciting that happened today? Well, today I had a fellow idol ask if their band could meet with our band and ask some advice because BTS recommended us for if they needed more advice. I was very honored." She answers.
"My bias in BTS? Not available because they're all kinda like older brothers to me." She says. "Favorite Kpop group? I like Twice and Red Velvet and Stray Kids and BTS and Blackpink and more." She answers. "What are the full names, pronouns, and ages of everyone in the band? Well, fun fact if you're ever struggling to remember one of our names just remember H.O.N.E.Y is our initials. In honey order it's Hyejin, Osamu, Nari, Eun, and Yejun. Age order it's Yejun, Osamu, Eun, Hyejin, Nari. Last names are Kim Yejun, Jeong Osamu, Lee Eun, Yun Hyejin, and Chang Nari." She answers.
"Oh I forgot to say ages and pronouns, Yejun is 25, Osamu is 25, Eun is 23, Hyejin is 20, and I'm 18. Yejun is non-binary so they/them, Osamu uses he/him, Eun is she/they, Hyejin is gender fluid so any pronouns, and I use she/her." She adds. "What ethnicity is Osamu? Half Korean half Japanese. His mom is from Japan and she moved here and met his dad." She answers.
"How many of us have found our soulmates? Just Osamu, however I believe I almost met my soulmate today because we were taking a water break and I was singing Circus by Britney Spears and someone ran past and said 'free Britney' which are the words on my wrist." She smiles. "Favorite Britney song? Probably Circus because it's really catchy." She answers.
"How was my english so good at our debut when I was only thirteen? My moms Australian and so that entire half of my family speaks English and from a young age she would make sure I could understand it. Also, my dad was moved to America for work when I was four and so we moved and lived there for eight years then we came back to South Korea when they moved him back and I became a trainee and we debuted a year later when Yejun and Osamu finished their military service." She answers.
"Are we ever going to take a break? We don't plan to, that's why BigHit had Yejun and Osamu complete their military service pre-debut." She answers. "Do I listen to the neighborhood? Yes, I like Cry Baby, Daddy Issues, and Sweater Weather." She says. "What are my soulmates initials? H.K. and we assume it's not the english way so it's surname, given name." She says.
"Why am I the main vocalist when I prefer rapping? I'm the main vocalist because I have the largest vocal range." She says. "Song that gets stuck in my head easily? A lot of them but Choke by I Dont Know How But They Found Me is stuck in my head right now." She answers. "Which band did BTS recommend us to? That's a secret but I can tell you that there's a K initial." She says.
"My soulmate? No, the K is his surname, not first." She smiles. "A question for Hyejin, soulmates initials and age?" Nari asks. "M.L. and 24." She answers. "Favorite Melanie Martinez song? High School Sweethearts." She answers. "Okay, you're hair is done. Let the dye sit for an hour and a half then wash it out." Hyejin tells her.
"Okay, hour and a half left on live. It's going to be in english now because I saw my moms in the chat and she said she likes the slight American accent I have." She says. "What collections do I have? I have a manga collection, Kpop album collection, Funko Pop collection, and a vinyl collection." She answers. "Favorite color? I like pastel purples, like lavender." She answers.
"Favorite Harry Styles song? From the Dining Table." She answers. She spends the rest of the time answering questions until her timer goes off. "Okay, I have to go shower and then I'll be going to bed so that I'm well rested for practice tomorrow. I love you all, bye!" She waves, ending the live.

A/N: Am I back from hiatus? Who knows...But I am a Tommy Shelby stan now, so here is some smut! I’ve added my permanent tag list despite you being here for Stucky but soz
Credit to gif owner.
She stuck out like a sore thumb in the middle of the Shelby Company offices. She didn’t have the right accent, the right clothes or the right attitude to work there. Her crucifix hung against her bosom, hidden beneath the baby blue dress she was wearing. She knew she didn’t fit in here. She just hastily jotted down the notes that Mr Shelby was throwing at her. She nodded her head when he finished and she left before he could snarl anything else at her. That’ what he tended to do when it came to her - snarl.
But as in her hurry to get out of his office, she didn’t watch where she was going and she gasped as she walked straight into another person. A broad chest was at her eye level, leading her to look up to see Michael Gray standing in front of her, a cocky smirk on his face. She couldn’t stop the blush that coloured her cheeks as she took a step back and mumbled her apologies.
“No need for that,” he said. He didn’t have the same accent as the rest of the Shelbys. He was posher, more put together. On the outside at least. Her heart was thumping in her chest, her mouth dry before she heard Mr Shelby open the door behind her.
“We don’t have all day for you to dawdle,” he said in that bored tone that he used when he spoke to her. She nodded, scooting around Michael and going back to her desk. Her eyes focusing on her typewriter and her typewriter only.
-----------------------------------
“Pol,” he sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “I don’t have time for your-”“She’s too young for you,” Polly snapped at Tommy, watching him follow his new secretary out of his office. Just like he did every morning.
Before he could even get his thoughts out John was blustering into the room. “I think your new secretary has eyes for our Michael.”
Tommy didn’t speak, scrubbing his hand over his face. The silence was palpable and finally, he looked up at his family before him.
“Are you ready to have this meeting or are you going to continue to gossip like old maids? G’wan I have all day,” he drawled.
-----------------------------------
She was gathering her things at the end of the day. Trying to make sure everything was in order so that Mr Shelby didn’t shout at her. She hated when he shouted at her. As she pulled her coat on, she turned to see Michael Gray standing at her desk.
“Can I help you, sir?” she asked in that soft tone that made her different from the other brash women here. What could the accountant want with her after clocking out time? Well after clocking out time...Mr Shelby didn’t work regular hours she had to remind herself every night when she walked home.
Michael just grinned at her, like a cat when they cornered a mouse. He offered her a cigarette and she quickly shook her head, watching as he placed one jauntily between his lips and lit it.
“What are you doing on Friday evening?” he asked, his eyes focused on her face. She had men try to chat her up before. She worked in a pub for many years, she was used to being leered at. But Michael wasn’t leering at her, no, he was instead examing every inch of her face. And she realised that she was just staring at him unmoving.
“Friday?” she asked again before picking up the heavy diary that sat on her desk. “Well, Mr Shel-”
“I didn’t ask about Mr Shelby, now did I?” he practically purred. “Now what are you doing at six o’clock on Friday evening.”
She inhaled softly, “I’ll be here. Or wherever Mr Shelby needs me to be.”
Michael chuckled, “Well, Mr Gray needs you to be with him. We’re going for dinner.”
She raised an eyebrow at that. “Are we?”
“Why yes, we are.”
-----------------------------------
It had been three months since she started working there and she drove him mad. She was so innocent in a sin house. The way she looked at him like a lost puppy, like she was afraid he would kick her but at the same time eager for the treat he might bestow upon her.
It had been a long time since he had been around a woman like her. Who was so delicate and fragile. Who was actually afraid of him. He wasn’t sure if he liked that she was afraid of him.
She was too young for him, Polly was right about that. And he had brushed it aside, that he was only interested in her because she was new and, well, wasn’t willing to spread her legs for him like every other woman he encountered nowadays.
However, this week she had been driving him wilder than usual. He couldn’t get her out of his mind. The smell of her perfume, the twinkle of laugh and the way she looked up at him through her eyelashes.
The laugh was not for him. No, he had only started hearing that laugh this week. When Michael started to pay attention to his new secretary. Enough attention to bring her out for dinner on Friday night. And he could no longer pretend he wasn’t jealous.
Jealous enough to call her late on Friday night to come into the office. She arrived in a pink dress, it wasn’t fancy. Not compared to what the women on the take wore. But she looked beautiful.
“Sorry Mr Shelby, I was out,” she said softly. Her eyes not meeting his. She was late, five minutes late, but still late. He had called her home and demanded she be at the office in ten minutes. She had just poured Michael a drink when the call came through. She knew it wasn’t proper to have a man in her house, but there was something about that family that made her want to be a rebel. And so she rebelled.
Tommy watched her carefully as she stood in his office, the moonlight filtering through the room. He hadn’t bothered to turn on the lights yet. He had just arrived a few moments earlier. The place was empty. No one was making bets at 10pm on a Friday.
“Did you have a good time?” he asked, making her face contort in confusion.
“Excuse me, sir?” she replied softly, watching as he pushed himself up from his desk.
“Did you and my cousin, Michael, have a good time?” he repeated lighting a cigarette.
She nodded quickly, her pinned curls bouncing against her face. It wasn’t a lie. She liked Michael, he was kind and funny. But he wasn’t...She shook that thought away.
“You know you shouldn’t mix business with pleasure,” he told her with a tut as he continued to stalk towards her. Where Michael cornered her like a cat playing with a mouse, Tommy was a tiger. There was no mistake about the power behind his movements, however minute they were.
“Why did you decide to go out with my cousin?” he asked softly, as he began to circle her.
“Because he asked me to,” came the response.
Tommy nodded as he took a drag of his cigarette, “And you are just so good at doing as you are asked. Stay late. Come in early. Come into the office in the middle of your night out. You could say no, you know that?”
She shook her head.
“Why not?”
“Because you’re my boss,’ she replied.
"And what if it was Arthur calling or Polly?”
She remained silent.
“Or your precious Michael?”
He was closer now, she could feel his body heat against her. If she reached out she could grab him.
“No, you came here because I asked you to. To come in the middle of the night to work. When you knew you would be all alone, with me.”
She didn’t respond as she felt him come up behind her. “Tell me why you came here?” he breathed in her ear.
“Because you asked me to,” she said softly, her voice shaking.
His hands were ghosting over her sides now making her heart thunder in her chest. She didn’t know what to do, but she knew she certainly didn’t want it to stop. The press of Tommy Shelby’s chest against hers, his hands skimming over her. Not touching her, no. Heaven’s no. It could not be that simple. He had to tease her, make her feel what he felt every day for the past week since Michael asked her out for dinner.
“Because I asked you,” he purred again. She could feel the vibration of his voice against her back. “Because you’re a good girl who does what she’s told. So could that I bet if I asked you to bend over my desk with your legs spread you would do it.”
She huffed out and took a step forward.
“Oh, is that a no?” he teased her. “Would you do that for Michael, then?”
“Michael wouldn’t ask me to do that. He’s a gentleman,” she retorted, turning to face him. Showing him just how flushed her cheeks were and the darkness in her eyes.
“Well good thing I’m not a gentleman, then,” Tommy replied as he closed the space between them. His lips crashed against hers in a fierce kiss. She had been kissed before, but not like this. Nothing was ever like this.
He consumed her like a black hole, the only thing that mattered in the whole world was Thomas Shelby. In fact, he was the only thing in the whole world. His hands were finally touching her, cupping her cheeks, roaming her lower back, brushing over her hips.
No, she had never been kissed like this.
Only Thomas Shelby could kiss her like this. Suddenly she was on his desk, his hands sliding up her legs, to her garter belt keeping her stockings in place. His calloused hands brushed over the sensitive skin of her thighs and she met his eyes in shock. He let his nose graze over hers, as he unclipped her garter belt. She gasped as Tommy Shelby fell to his knees.
She had never expected to see the great Thomas Shelby kneeling, let alone in front of her. He didn’t even kneel in mass. He took her simple black shoes off and then his hands were back under her skirt. Slowly, ever so slowly, he pulled her stockings off. His lips trailing kisses over the now bare skin, from her thigh to her ankle.
She whimpered as he did the same motion to her other leg. She expected him to stand now. But no, he remained kneeling in front of her. His fingers explored her thighs again, her eyes widening as he found her underwear. A wicked smirk covering his face when he hooked his fingers into them and pulled the simple garments off her.
“Mr Shelby,” she breathed, her heart thumping. She didn’t dare call him Tommy. Even with her underwear around her ankles.
“You are such a good girl,” he told her softly as he pushed her dress up. “And you are going to be a good girl for me. D’ya hear me?”
She nodded.
Tommy looked at her with a raised eyebrow,
“Yes, Mr Shelby,” she replied in a breathy voice.
“Good girl,” he breathed, his eyes pinned on her folds. She was soaked for him, he couldn’t help the pride that swelled in his chest. This good church girl, he knew she went, Polly saw her there every Sunday. She was a good girl, but that made it all the better to have her spread for him. Her pussy pulsing in eagerness for his touch.
And he indulged her. Even if just for a moment, his lips brushed over her core, her clit. He hummed as she moaned for him, it was like music to ears. Her little gasping moan. It sounded so sinful falling from the lips of a woman who prayed. He wondered would she be blaspheming tonight. He smirked as he pulled away.
She whined despite herself.
“Well, I just don’t think you deserve to be treated so kindly,” he drawled, watching her carefully. “You went out with my cousin. Did he kiss you? Did he touch you?”
She shook her head rapidly, her curls falling unpinned. He just frowned not impressed with her answer.
“Did you want him to kiss you?”
Another head shake.
“Did you want me to kiss you?”
A nod this time.
“C’mon, you’re a big girl, you can use your voice.”
“Yes, sir.”
He smirked at that. She really was an obedient girl. He wondered just how obedient she would be. He leaned back on his heels, looking up at her face.
“Well for being such a cocktease,” he said, “I think you should get a taste of your own medicine. He stood now pulling the tie off her coat that was hanging the chair facing his desk.
“Hands,” he demanded in a bored tone. She did as he asked, offering him her slender wrists in front of her. He grabbed them, spinning her around to tie her hands together behind her back. “Good.”
He frowned then realising that he had tied her up but she was still wearing that godforsaken dress. He crossed the room to his own coat and pulled out a pocket knife. She opened her mouth to protest but Tommy wagged a finger in her face. Before his knife was dragging across the straps of her good dress. It fell to her feet, leaving her in her slip and bra. But with that knife it wasn’t long until she was standing naked in the middle of Thomas Shelby’s office, her hands tied.
He was, of course, fully clothed in his immaculate three-piece wool suit. Well, he had discarded his jacket at some point, but there were still so many layers between him and her.
“Good girl,” he repeated, like a mantra. “Now where should we start. Oh, yes. On your knees, princess.”
She struggled to get down to her knees without falling face first. But she did. And by the time she was where Tommy wanted her, he had freed his cock, his hand stroking it slowly. The tip was already dripping precum and she looked up at him. She knew what he wanted to do and there was no doubt in her mind that she wanted it too. But she had never...
Before she could think too much on it, Tommy was roughly gripping her face, running his cock over the seam of her lips, like he ran cigarette over his. And she opened without complaint. She could see him smirking like a cat that got the cream when she let out a moan. He tasted so indescribably male, the saltiness of his precum on her tongue. Her eyes focused on his face as he started to fuck her face. There was no questions here, there was no doubt about what he needed and there was no doubt that she would give it to him.
Tears pricked her eyes as he hit the back of her throat over and over again. She felt him pulse against his tongue. And suddenly he was gone, her mouth empty, salvia running down the corner of her mouth. She was a mess, her red lipstick smeared, her mascara running. And Tommy thought that she was the most gorgeous creature he had ever seen.
But he didn’t speak, he didn’t show any softness as he dragged her onto her feet. He spun her around like a rag doll, pressing her down on the cool wood of his desk. “I am going to fuck you until the only name you remember is mine,” he growled in her ear. And all she could do was give a consenting nod.
His cock, soaked by her spit was brushing over the lips of her soaked pussy. She never knew she could react like this to...anything. She was dripping down her legs, her arousal coating her thighs and well down her legs now. And then her mind went blank as Tommy Shelby slid inside her. His thickness stretching her out like nothing else. She couldn’t help the moan that fell from her kiss swollen lips, it echoed around the wood-panelled office.
“Nuh-uh,” Tommy snarled in her ear, the roughness of his suit scratching against the softness of her flesh. “Good girls don’t make a sound. And you want to be a good girl. Stay quiet for me...”
She nodded her head, her arms crushed between Tommy’s chest and her back as he purred praise in her ear. But he pulled back, his hands resting on her hips as he began his assault of her pussy. He pounded into her like a man starved and she bit down on her lip to stop the screams that begged to break free. She would be a good girl for Mr Shelby. If he wanted her to be quiet she wouldn’t make a peep.
Tears rolled down her cheeks at the pleasure that coursed through her body with each stroke of his cock, with each grunt the gang leader let out and finally he leaned down, wrapping on rough hand around her neck and breathed. “Go on, baby lemme hear ya.”
That’s all she needed to let loose, she screamed loud enough to wake the dead. Words at a loss to her, she begged Tommy to fuck her over and over, screamed to god, Jesus, Mary and Joseph. And Tommy just kept fucking her rougher, harder, faster and her screams just grew and grew.
“Do you think you’ve been good enough to cum?” he growled as he felt his balls start to constrict.
She nodded, “Yes, Mr Shelby. Please, Mr Shelby.”
He hummed in thought for a moment, paused, with his cock buried deep inside her. “Have you?” he questioned again squeezing her throat.
“Please?”
“Do you go out with any of my men ever again?”
“No, sir.”
“Who is the only person you go out with?”
“You, sir.”
“And who do you belong to?”
“You, sir!”
With that one hand crept under her and found her clit. She cried out louder as he stroked it in time with his thrusts.
“Cum for me,” he growled.
And she nodded, her head falling back against Tommy’s chest as she came for him. Her walls contracting around him. Pinning him inside her, his thrusts growing shallow and sloppy as he followed her over the edge. His cum painting her walls as he tightened the grip on her neck.
It was quiet now, their breathing the only sound in the room. She could feel his heart hammering in his chest as he leaned on her back. And suddenly he had pulled out of her, the tie around her wrists gone. Tommy had tucked herself back into his trousers and slicked back his hair. A cigarette between his lips like none of this had happened.
She didn’t know what to do. Her clothes were destroyed. She started searching for her panties but to no avail. Tommy smirked as he held them up, hanging off his forefinger.
“Put your coat on, I’ll take you home,” he demanded. She nodded as she put her stockings and shoes on. Fixing her hair as she gathered her clothes and pulled her oversized winter coat on, tying it together with the fabric that tied her down just moments ago.
But it looked like Mr Shelby hadn’t meant any of that. She was just another girl in his employment that he had his way with. And she was ashamed. Ashamed he had used her like this. She followed him out to his car and he started driving in silence.
She sat up when she realised that he wasn’t going in the right direction.
“Mr Shelby, my apartment is-”
He cut her off with a smirk, “I didn’t say I was taking you home tonight. You said it yourself, you’re mine. And I am in no way finished with you. I’m going to take my time with you.”

My mom always used to say that it was good that we had mice - because it meant that we didnt have rats.
My family told this story over and over about my uncle waking up and finding a rat on his bed - it was when he decided he really needed to move
I was thinking about how the time we left, i heard rats in the walls.... just sliding down the fucking wall. And id bang on it to make them go away. For a moment i remembered it as just normal
But it wasnt. Most of my life at my house, we didnt have rats. And i was mortified when they showed up
But i just... got used to it. It bothered me... and i didnt like seeing them in the kitchen at night...but i just.... dealt with it
A hole appeared on my ceiling in the last couple years - it was the size of a the ink in a pen. My mother kept spilling stuff and it would pour into my room. I was fighting with her over it.
She broke everything that wasnt broken in the house. I started taping up the walls and the floors to keep the wolf spiders in the basement and out of rooms that i sat in
I was terried to clean the house because i knew at any moment a giant spider could come running out of where i was cleaning
The animals pissing and shitting everywhere could be changed if people didnt allow them. Shit being caked into the floorboards could be changed in my grandfather gave a fuck.
I can never show ppl the horrors that i saw because i never took pictures. I just got sick it was every few months and immediately started to clean. I didnt want to prolong the experience or resentment by taking pictures...
I didnt want to leave that house. It was my home. It will always be my home.
My creepy smelly haunted ancient falling apart infested home.
The toilets were like the first plumbing ever made when we moved in. There was black seaweed like stuff swimming at the bottom. It would overflow everytime you flushed it and pour through the living room ceiling...
he windows were disgusting and dirty and they didnt stay up on theirg own
My rooms floor was seperating from the wall. There was cat litter behind the radiator that no matter how hard i cleaned - i coildnt get - a reminder of my 18 year old cats habbits
The back door was broken. My mom put plastic on it which the cats ripped open to jump through like a doggy door - scaring the life out of me. The glass door past it didnt shut - my mom tied a leash to it and kept it closed that way. It would swing open with the wind and creek.
The ghosts scared me
The sheds were falling apart
The barn had carpenter bees
The hayfeild was next to the turnpike and two other major roads... it was loud and there was no privacy
The third feild was mostly marshland
The property was full of poisonous plants that could paralyze you and picky weeds that burned if they touched you. The small little feild at the bottom always had too many bees
The backyard sloped
But there was so much beauty. Though the crick was drying up from the houses built on the other side of the hill - i remembered the ducks and filling up water buckets and daydreaming in the tree above. Trying to get accross the rocks and my dog drinking. The big stream where i went swimming and once saw a lobster. The feild was open - multiflora rose gone to the hungry goats over the years. The trees that used to be apple trees where i sat and ate till i was full and the spot where my favorite one stood - where my mom and i had picnics.
That feeling from the back feild tbat felt like true serenity and the cool sheild from the summer heat beneath the congested bit of pine trees.
I remember my trecks down the crick - trying to jump from rock to rock
And the time i tried to stand on the ice where the marsh was - enjoying watching my family ice skate before falling and hurting my head
The quiet snowy nights that i sled down the hayfeild with my aunt
The warm fluffy feeling of a barn FULL of animals.
The sheds that alternated as storage or more room for more animals.
The path i used to take up to the barn before everything on the path fell apart
Id walk around and find peices.... things.... that my mom, me, or someone in my family had set down.... not knowing that it would never be picked up again
Our animal graveyard.... because we loved them so much...
The reminince where the big light used to shine over the ducks and backyard - when we had night parties with candles and tents and all the normal stuff a family has
The back of the house leading to the basement where my first dog used to live and my personal garden leading up to it
The dog yard with the table - the first place i played with my greatgrandmothers dog before we moved into the house
The comfort of my parking lot - knowing that im finally home
Driving to the top of the hill before getting there and looking down on my property- the send setting over the lake so beautifully.
My house was in ruins.... all my momories were there. All the love.... you could find peices of it everywhere
So i was just thinking.... how there were rats in my walls... but they ended up being just an annoying addition that i didnt put much thought into
Because id put up with a lot to keep something i love....
And idk what to do about it. Without my pets it was already hard. Watching everything i knew and loved break fall apart and be abandoned... was hard for a number of years. The place doesnt mean so much witout my animals and family - all the love that made it was a warm place. Even if i could have afforded to keep it... it wouldnt be a nice place to be alone...
But it all went so fast... just like my mom.... and i still dont know how to face that.
I always dream that im there. I always dream im with my mom.
I cant make another place full of love and warmth.... without everything and everyone that is was lost at that house....
Although its a skeliton now it still encapsulates those memories...: and while it hurt to keep remembering things that were gone... now i remember them but its not tangible

Ah yes, I'm starting this fic without even having an idea what the middle will be, Lol. How I love that. Right now I have this fic in plan and one for the Snow Queen fandom (Which practically is dead or is alive, but in Russian only) so I'm giving it here a try as I actually planned to start this one first and Snow Queen just fell into my life by accident. (As usual, a ship pulled me into the fandom along with Amy MacDonald because why not?) (I also have the interest in a Crossover between MLB and SNow Queen, because I just love the idea of RollanxGerda with their elemental powers as superheroes in a lovesquare too xD I need to outline that once I got ideas.
Additional note:
- All mentioned offsprings, classmates, and random are actual OC's of mine.
Nathaniel Kurtzberg sat on the couch of the Kurtzberg household face timing with his wife Lila Kurtzberg, which was out for a few months in Italy due to her work as an actress.
„Today really was now the last day of our recordings here. Tomorrow in the morning I will catch the train to head back to Paris. That one will go directly to France and has only one stop in Turin," Lila explained making Nathaniel nod.
„How many episodes are now in front of me until the one you recorded today?"
„Uhm I think you have 18. We are currently at 42. But you will enjoy the last few episodes, cause my character Isabella will......nah I can't spoiler you that, but you will be surprised," Lila quoted making Nathaniel frown.
„Oh now I'm curious,"
„Hey, I already told you why I had to dye my hair in black and brown lens. You have to wait for it along with the other viewers,"
„Can I at least know if it will end in a cliffhanger?"
„Duh of course. It's the end of the season, that's to keep the tension high," Lila answered. „But I can tell you there will be a few new faces and one of them you may recognize very well,"
„Who? Any of your aunts?" Nathaniel questioned making Lila shake her head.
„No it's Wayhem," Lila responded. „He will have a minor role as a class clown. He is actually pretty decent for that role. At least in the tryouts he was,"
„Thanks to Gabriel he made it there too. That's actually cool,"
„It really is," Lila agreed.
From behind the couch where Nathaniel sat appeared a small girl, which jumped up at the couch on Nathaniel causing him to yelp and the girl with the long brown hair looked at the smartphone to see the raven-haired woman on the other side of the electronic device.
„Hi mama" The girl greeted her mother, which smiled enchanted at seeing the daughter on her husband's lap.
„Hi bella, where have you been?" Lila asked at the sudden appearance of the girl.
„I think Nathalie was working on something special for you," Answered the redhead gazing into the blue eyes of the daughter, which winked back at the man. „But as it is a surprise you can't know it until you're here," „You two are being really mean," Lila joked crossing her arms pretending to be mad at the decision of the two blue-eyed family members.
„Come on pumpkin. You'll see it tomorrow when you get back. I'm sure it will blow your mind, right Nathalie?" Nathaniel asked earning a nod from the daughter.
„Well then the only thing I have to do is to wait until tomorrow," Lila added earning a nod from Nathaniel. „Has anything special changed during the time I was gone?"
„Well, what happened.....yes Sabrina is pregnant. I've heard that from Adrien. Adrien has next Friday his exam again, which he had failed two times before and I think that's it so far. Tomorrow also I will attend the first school day of Nathalie along with Luka and Kagami with their son,"
„That's great Nathy, and Nathalie I don't know what your dad said, but don't forget to brush your teeth before going to bed," Lila warned earning a nod from Nathaniel.
„We took care of it. I promised to let her watch your show tonight if you're okay with it,"
„Okay. It's actually rated 13+, but just the last few episodes I would rather not let her watch,"
„Okay it's fine," Nathaniel responded. "I'm here for her,"
„Look I'm finishing the call for now. I'm going to visit Nana before leaving,"
„Okay, be careful," Nathaniel warned making Lila chuckle.
„Don't worry with Trixx around me, I'm safe," Lila assured earning a nod from the husband.
„See you tomorrow,"
„Bye Nathy," Lila said sending Nathaniel an air kiss, then Nathaniel turned the call off and picked the remote to turn the TV on, which was showing a commercial of Wayhem holding a cereal package in his hands.
„Nutty by Nature. The new cereals for young and teens containing almonds, raisins, and walnuts. Try it out. This may contain nuts and gluten. Suggested to be served with milk or yogurt,"
„Isn't that the cereal you wanted to try out?" Nathaniel questioned sitting up on the couch, followed by Nathalie which sat beside the father.
„No, it had Ladybug on it," Nathalie mentioned earning a nod from the redhead.
„Okay, we can see it next Wednesday during shopping," Nathaniel said, then watched on the TV the logo of an Italian studio appear, then Nathaniel placed his hand on his daughter's shoulder. „Look Nathalie the show is about to start," Nathaniel said putting the TV a little louder as the logos had played a 90th themed song in the background and showed a coyote near a road in the middle of the desert howl leading to the start of the intro and a car pass by on the road, then the theme song of the show began to play which was a pop-rock remix making Nathalie dance with her head amused at the song.
„Cool," Nathalie commented afterward she smiled brightly as she recognized in the intro her mother walk towards the camera, then under her married full name was blended in and Nathalie looked up at Nathaniel, which smiled at seeing her name on the screen.
„And what do you think of mom?" Nathaniel questioned. „Doesn't she look beautiful there?"
„She is very beautiful, dad," Nathalie agreed lying her head on the father's shoulder looking at the screen seeing a different actress with a similar body and facial structures as Lila strutt towards the camera and an Italian name appear under the woman's name.
„That woman there plays the younger version of your mom," Nathaniel pointed out earning a nod from the daughter watching the camera switch back to a male younger, character who also had his actor name announced on-screen through the introduction of the show.
At the mansion of the Agreste's, Adrien Agreste along with his wife Kagami and their common son had made the first steps of their life under the same home they were in since their first part of the education.
Adrien's ten-year-old sister sat in his old bedroom watching TV along with her five-year-old nephew Elliot. The boy Elliot sat interested looking at the movie to see a male character with fire powers throwing it on a trunk to make fire, so a group of kids got reunited around it to heat their hands.
„Rocky the fire guy is so cool," Elliot commented earning a nod from the older niece.
„What about Ally the water girl?" Questioned Hope. „She's also cool,"
„Nah I prefer Rocky," Elliot defended making Hope chuckle, then see an anthropomorphic rabbit push out from the ground two walls to form a tent-like shelter.
At the entrance of the room entered Kagami wearing a white tank top and red shorts as her sleeping outfit, then she made her way towards the couch, where the two blonde Agreste's sat and she placed her hands over on Elliot's shoulder.
„Elliot, it's bedtime," Kagami announced leaning her cheek on Elliot's face making him sad. „Do I really have to go now to bed?" Elliot questioned looking up at Kagami, which nodded.
„It's almost 10 am sweetie and you know tomorrow is your first school day and no one wants to have a tired boy during the class?" Kagami stated tapping the boy on the nose.
„Can I wait until the break?" Elliot questioned watching Kagami look at her watch and at that moment the movie got into a commercial making Hope groan disappointed.
„Not again," Hope complained making Kagami chuckle.
„Look you two, what about tomorrow we all watch that movie you were looking at? You two, me and Adrien?" Suggested Kagami earning a nod from the two blondes.
„Where's Adrien?" Hope asked watching Kagami open the TV guide to check the movie title. „I haven't seen him since dinner,"
„Your brother is studying for the big exam. You know after the last two times he failed he isn't really easy to convince to stop or take a break,"
„Dad is studying too much, mom," Elliot mentioned earning a nod from the mother, which helped her son down from the couch.
„Learning about medicine isn't for everyone. Even if Daddy is giving his best," Kagami mentioned earning a nod from Elliot.
„Will school tomorrow be hard for me?" Elliot asked making Kagami shake her head.
„No, it's very easy if you pay attention and if there is something you don't understand you can always ask your teacher at the school or us," Kagami said watching Elliot grab her hand, then Kagami walked out with her son into the corridor to reach the last room, where she got into and was in the bedroom, which got altered after Hope got older and Elliot was born into the Agreste heir. His bedroom contained a bed with a night table beside him and on the left side he had a bookshelf with only a few books on it and the others remained empty for now. On the wall he had four different watches both analog and digital, each of the clocks was adjusted to the European time zone and the Japanese time zone, which had about a difference of 8 hours. Kagami watched Elliot open up the bed for himself and got into it, then grabbed from under his pillow a red panda plush making Kagami smile remembering they had got the animal from their trip to Japan two years ago. Elliot used to sleep with the plush every night after they bought it for him.
Kagami adjusted the covers of the boy and looked at the boy, which smiled at the woman afterward Kagami pecked the boy on the cheek wishing him a good night.
„Good night, my little boy,"
„Good night mom," Elliot wished watching the mother caress the boy on the forehead gently before he closed his eyes, then the woman got up and left the door half-open and walked across the corridor into the bedroom, which now was used by Adrien and Kagami to sleep. Kagami encountered Adrien sitting in front of a desk with his arms on the table reading a book about diseases. Adrien was notably close to falling asleep, then Kagami walked toward the man, which was focused on the book, then Kagami placed her hand on Adrien's shoulder shrieking him along with herself, then Adrien sighed in relief to see it was just his wife.
„Oh it's you Kagami," Adrien mentioned watching Kagami pick up the water glass on the table handing it out to Adrien, which took it to drink,
„I just brought Elliot to bed," Kagami mentioned earning a nod from Adrien, which yawned. „And you better go to bed too, get a good night of sleep, then you wake up, have a walk or a jog, take a shower, have a good breakfast and you continue your work. Give your brain a little more oxygen before you spend another day inside the house. Elliot sort of is right, we barely saw you today,"
„I'm sorry," Adrien apologized getting up walking into the bathroom to wash his face. „I have been focusing a little too much lately on the studies,"
„Half of the summer vacation," Kagami added earning a nod from Adrien, which grabbed a towel to clean his face. „Tomorrow depending on if he receives homework or not I suggested Elliot and Hope to watch the movie they didn't finish watching tomorrow. If you're okay with it, join us watching the movie. So you'll be spending a bit of time together with your son and at the same time you can give your head a break,"
„Sounds like a good idea. What's the movie about?" Adrien asked leaving the bathroom, then removed his t-shirt while Kagami closed the door behind them.
„I don't know, but the main characters seem to be some sort of superheroes with elemental powers," Kagami responded. „I think you may like it as well,"
„Okay, okay. We'll see it then," Adrien spoke getting rid of his trousers as Kagami got into the bed, followed by the blonde, which covered himself with the bed cover and looked around at Kagami, which yawned making Adrien smile and lean his forehead on his wife's, then kissed her on the nose. „Good night,"
„Good night Adrien," Wished Kagami closing her eyes along with Adrien, so they would soon fall asleep.
Luka Couffaine stood in the kitchen of their 3-room apartment putting inside a sandwich grill a piece of toast on each black surface, afterward he added on the front row a slice of cheese and on the top of it, he added ham onto it. Luka closed the grill tight so it would grill the sandwich, so he took the time the device was cooking to store the ingredients back and he took out a pack of orange juice, then filled it into two cups, then brought them to the table. Luka walked out of the kitchen towards the corridor of the apartment to spot his son Rouven Couffaine get out of the bedroom while yawning making Luka smirk.
„Morning champ," Luka greeted the boy, which made his way toward the kitchen. „Did you sleep well?"
„Yes" Rouven responded. „Is mom gone to work?"
„Yes she is, but she told me to give you kisses and wish you a good first school day," Luka mentioned. „And you don't need to worry about it, you will see Elliot and Cody there. At least you will already know two people,"
„Cool," Rouven responded sitting down, then Luka went back to the kitchen to check, if the paninis were done and saw the grill had the green light turned on, then Luka opened it to remove the paninis into a plate and placed it in the middle of the table, so Rouven could take one, while Luka took the other.
„Mmh I love this smell," Rouven commented as he took a bite from his sandwich. „Delicious,"
„What do you think will you learn today at the school?" Luka asked. „Any idea?"
„Math?" Rouven answered.
„What else?"
„Gym. Mom said I needed to pack my gym stuff," Rouven mentioned. „She forgot to help me,"
„Okay, I will help you later with it. You don't know, where mom left your notes for school per coincidence, right?"
„I don't know,"
„Alright, let me just finish my toast and I will see, what you need," Explained the father earning a nod from the boy, then Luka heard his smartphone on the counter begin to play a rock solo, followed by Rouven use his hands to pretend to play a bass, making Luka chuckle, then Luka picked up the smartphone to see his wife's name highlighted over the number.
„Hello Marinette," Luka greeted. „Rouven is already having breakfast,"
„Great, look I forgot to pack Rouven's gym clothing. Can you do that for him?"
„Sure I was about to do that after Rouven mentioned it. Was there anything more on the list except for that and the writing utensils?"
„Uhm the water and the snack box I left it inside the fridge, the writing utensils he's got it inside his satchel, books and booklets he'll receive at the school as they require a certain type of it and that's all so far....oh and the school cone. I have hidden it in the back seat of your car,"
„Okay, I will prepare everything for Rouven. See you later,"
„Bye, I love you,"
„I love you too, Marinette," Luka finished the call, then walked toward the corridor to get to the room of his son to organize the needed school material.
On Monday morning around the 9, Ivan Bruel was reaching along with his son to the elementary school.
„We're here," Ivan said looking down at the raven-haired boy. „As I see Rouven or Elliot didn't arrive yet,"
„Yes," The boy said, then watched along with the father a black sports car stop, where a man with a mustache sat and from the back seat left a brunette woman together with a blonde girl which carried her backpack, then both made their way to the schoolhouse.
„We seem a little early or everyone else is already here. What do you think of going in to see your classroom?" Ivan asked earning a nod from the boy, then the man accompanied the son to the entrance of the schoolhouse to spot a few more children along with adults surprising Ivan at the number of parents that were present to attend their children's first day of school.
„Wow, there are really many parents present. Have you seen it, Cody?" The strong man asked earning a nod from the brown-eyed boy.
„Yes," Cody responded, then noticed in front of a classroom his father's old classmate Nathaniel Kurtzberg stay looking onto a sheet, while next to him stood Nathalie Kurtzberg holding her school cone tight in her arms.
„Nathaniel, hey!" Ivan called walking along with Cody to the redhead, which smiled and held his hand out to have Ivan slap his hand on the friend. „You're going to the class of Miss.....uh.....Donner. Evangeline Donner,"
„It is Donner like give in French, not Donner like thunder in German?" Nathaniel asked showing his daughter's schedule to the tall man.
„Probably the French version," Ivan mentioned. „Can we go in already?"
„I think so. I just got here," Nathaniel responded entering into the classroom to find a few students present with their parents in the classroom, then Nathaniel widened his eyes as he recognized a few of the parental figures inside the room. „Wow, I know some of those faces look that's Leeton Sakamoto. He plays in the Parisian soccer team," Nathaniel said advising Ivan to look at the second row, where a middle-sized man stood beside the desk looking at his own son, which was showing the adult something.
„Yeah and there's River Langerak the journalist Alya works with," Ivan pointed out watching the woman take a selfie with the raven-haired daughter making Ivan smile at the deed the woman was doing.
„Uh hum," Agreed Nathaniel, then both walked their kids into the class and Nathalie sat down in the third row along with Cody.
„Do you think Elliot and Rouven will be in our class?" Nathalie asked the boy, which shrugged his shoulders.
„I don't know," Cody responded placing his school cone on the table, afterward Nathalie did the same and both leaned their backs against the wall watching a brunette woman enter along with a blonde girl into the class greeting accompanying her to the first row on the left side.
„That girl I saw before as I got here," Cody mentioned. „I think her grandpa is rich. He drives a very fast car,"
„Cool," Nathalie answered, then watched a man dressed in a police suit accompany his raven-haired son, which waved along with the dad at the present citizens, afterward a Rose Lavillant entered into the class making Nathalie smile as she recognized one of her mother's best friend enter along with a white-skinned girl with light blonde hair, making Nathalie curious.
„Whos' that girl?" Nathalie asked making Cody shrug his shoulders. Rose smiled as she recognized Nathaniel and Ivan, then meet up with the guys by embracing both with excitement.
„Oh boys I haven't seen you for so long," Rose began. „How are Lila and Myléne doing?" Questioned the blonde.
„Fine," Both men answered.
„Lila is coming today from Italy from her acting time. Have you per coincidence see the show yet?" Questioned the redhead earning a nod from the petite woman.
„Yes, I've been liking it so far. Juleka mostly," Rose responded. „Oh and I have only told Kagami about it, but I and Juleka finally made it to adopt our first child. Let me introduce you to Eireen. She's originally from Danish descendants, but her parents lost their lives in a......shipwreck,"
„Oh," Both men replied sad, then Rose patted the girl's head making her smile a little.
„She has already been for a month in our house to get to know us better. So far I think she's liking to be with us,"
„If she's interested, she can befriend Nathalie," Nathaniel mentioned. „Nathalie is my daughter. She's sitting right behind you," Explained the redhead watching the blonde girl look back at the brunette girl, which smiled a little shyly at the adopted girl.
„Hi nice to meet you," Eireen said, then Cody got up and showed Eireen the place.
„Hey you can sit with her if you want," Cody offered making Eireen shrug her shoulders.
„You don't have to go for me," Eireen mentioned making Cody shake his head.
„No, it's okay. I'll be sitting somewhere else," Cody explained making Eireen nod and sit down on the chair, followed by Cody picking up the school cone.
„Oh, I forgot your cone. Will you wait here? I will go immediately to the car to get it," Rose said making Eireen nod, then Rose ran out. Nathaniel took out his smartphone to check the time and saw a message from his wife Lila Kurtzberg.
„Are you at the school now?"
Nathaniel went down on his knees, then held his camera to Nathalie making Nathalie jokingly stick out her tongue, followed by Nathaniel making a dorky face so he could take a picture of the two.
„Shall I send it to mom?" Nathaniel asked the girl for permission which nodded, then the father got up to send the image to the mother of the girl.
„Hey Ivan, hey Nathaniel," A voice said, then Nathaniel looked aside to see Luka Couffaine come along with his son followed by Kagami with her boy Elliot.
„Hey Luka," Nathaniel greeted.
„Hey Luka, hey Kagami," Ivan greeted. „Where's Adrien?"
„He stood back to study," Kagami responded. „You know this Friday he's got the exam and hopefully he will pass it this time,"
„Oh right. I really hope he can make it this time," Mentioned the raven-haired man. „It's harsh when all your friends pass but you,"
„Yeah it really is," Kagami said, then she heard someone call her name and she looked across the classroom to see Adrien's old university friend Jin pass by together with his son. „Hey Jin, great to see you,"
„Same Kagami or should I say.....Mrs. Agreste," Jin joked doing to the woman finger pistols making the son look confused at his father's comment.
„Is that a friend of dad?" Elliot asked looking up at the mother making her nod,
„Yeah. He was with your dad in the same class about five years ago," Kagami mentioned. „Dad would probably love to see him again,"
„Let's tell Dad, " Elliot asked watching Kagami place her hand on the boy's shoulder.
„Maybe we can ask Jin to visit us after school," Kagami mentioned then Nathaniel came between the two Agreste's.
„Are you three actually coming tonight to the surprise party?" Nathaniel asked making Kagami wide her eyes and facepalm.
„Kuso, I forgot about it. I promised you to come and I also promised Elliot and Adrien to watch the movie they missed yesterday,"
„On TV?" Nathaniel questioned.
„Yeah, but we can still watch it on replay before 72 hours pass," Kagami mentioned. „I should have written all my promises down on an agenda. I've been so busy lately that I forgot it,"
„It's okay. Can happen," Luka mentioned patting Kagami on the shoulder.
The school bell rang and before the teacher entered a blonde woman entered along with a blonde boy making Luka chuckle along with Ivan, making Kagami and Nathaniel furrow their eyebrows in confusion, then Nathaniel looked at Luka questioningly.
„Hey, you're married," Nathaniel spoke, then Luka hit the friend on the shoulder.
„I know. I'm just laughing cause that's the woman who vaccinated Rouven last time at the doctor," Luka explained, then watched the class teacher enter into the classroom with a suitcase on wheels, then she gazed in surprise as she saw the full class along with their parents.
„Wow, I'm impressed," The teacher commented placing her suitcase beneath her desk. „This is the first time after ten years, where I have so many parents present on their kids' first school day,"
„It's actually a pretty good thing," Jin shouted making a few adults snicker.
„It really is. And you're the father of who?" The teacher asked.
„I'm Jin Norgay, father of Zheng Norgay," The man introduced himself approaching the son, which sat on the table next to a blonde boy.
„Alright so, as this is our very first day of school. We will be spending the first hour getting to know each other. First I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Mrs. Donner. I'm 33 years old and I was born in Bretagne. In my free time, when I'm not working I like to read and play cards with my family," The teacher introduced, then picked up a ball of yarn from her table and held it on the beginning of the threat and threw it at the first student on the first row, which was a raven-haired boy. „So you're the first one to introduce yourself to the class. You don't need to tell a lot. Your name, nationality and maybe what your parents work is a good start," Mrs. Donner suggested earning a nod from the boy.
„Hello everyone. My name is Duarte. Actually, I have two names. I'm called Duarte André. But you all can call me Duarte. Both my parents are police officers, which met at the work. I come from Portugal, but was born here in France," The boy said earning a nod from the teacher.
„And now pass the ball to the person you want and hold the thread," The teacher asked watching the girl threw the ball back at a raven-haired girl, which smiled at the boy.
„My name is Ruby Langerak. Uh.....I'm from many countries somehow....My mother is from Ireland and England. My father from Sweden and Portugal. I'm sort of from all those four countries," Ruby explained making a few students chuckle.
„Wow, that's interesting. Which languages do you speak at the home?"
„English and French for now," Ruby responded. „My mom said maybe later I could learn Swedish as it is similar to English and furthermore if I want to Portuguese,"
„I can teach you," Duarte suggested earning a nod from the raven-haired girl.
„Aww that's sweet," The teacher commented.
„And my mother is a journalist and my father works in a theatre building the stage and other important things," Ruby explained throwing the ball at Cody, which sat behind her.
„Hello my name is Kodiak, but everyone calls me Cody. I'm from France and my mother works as an actress at the theatre and my father works in the kitchen for a house, where only seniors live,"
„A retirement home?" Asked the teacher making Cody shrug his arms.
„Yes Mrs. Donner," Ivan responded making the teacher smile and Cody passed the ball to Elliot, which frowned at Cody's lazy decision.
„My name is Elliot Agreste. My father is French and my mother is Japanese. My mom works in a bureau at the animal rescue center from my father's family and my dad is at home learning for a big exam, so when he passes he can become a doctor,"
„Ah wow, that's a great idol you got there," The teacher complimented making Elliot smile and look up at Kagami, which gave the boy a thumb up. Elliot threw his ball at Nathalie, but it landed in front of Eireen, then she looked at Elliot, which shrugged his shoulders but smiled at the adopted girl to let her take the ball of yarn.
„Hello everyone. My name is Eireen, I'm from Denmark. My parents died a few years ago in a ship like in the movie with the iceberg and I was in an orphanage with other kids and got adopted this year by my mother. This year is a little special to me, cause I have for the first time in my life new people that like me and also I have now two mothers instead," Eireen said, then a few adults looked at each other bewildered at Eireen's situation.
„Did you hear that, she has two mothers" A voice said making Rose swallow at hearing that comment, then Luka noticed it and placed his hand on Rose's shoulder to comfort her.
„That's still amazing Eireen. At least you found two people that are there to help you out and take care of you. That's what matters the most, right Mrs. Donner," Luka stated earning a nod from the teacher.
„Yes you're right Mr.....,"
„Couffaine, Luka Couffaine"
„Yes thank you, Mr. Couffaine "
„Don't worry. You'll know my name in a few years," Luka said jokingly making the teacher chuckle and watch Eireen slide her ball to Nathalie.
„I'm Nathalie Kurtzberg. My dad is from Germany and works in a comic book store. My mother is from Italy and works on a TV show as an actress,"
„Oh is it from the show Isabella – The rebirth?" Questioned the teacher watching Nathalie look up at Nathaniel which nodded.
„I've seen a few episodes. I think I know who your mother is," Mrs. Donner stated watching Nathalie throw her ball across the room at the hands of a blonde girl.
„The name is Debby, short for Deborah. I'm from Spain and Scotland. My mom works as a vet assistant and my father works in a recording studio for music," The girl introduced herself earning a nod from the teacher, then she threw the ball across the room to another boy, which introduced himself to the class too, followed by others students until everyone's turn had passed.

surveys by lets-make-surveys
1 - When you wake up, do you get up straight away or do you lie around in bed for a while? Lie in bed, even on work days. I work from home, so there’s nothing to prepare or look nice for, anyway. I can stay in bed and just roll out of it and head to my desk at 9 AM to start the day.
2 - Who was the last person you video-called with? Have you done this more often since COVID hit? Video calls make me anxious, so I’ve always turned them down even when it was someone I’m close with who was trying to call, like Angela. The only person I’ve felt comfortable having video calls with was Gab but that obviously hasn’t happened in a while. I think the last people I saw on video was my dad’s family, though I was still shy and asked my mom not to put me in the shot for too long.
3 - How many times a week do you go out for food or drink? Back then I’d do it 2-3 times a week. Then Covid happened and I had to stop; but now that I’m starting to try to put in more effort to take care of myself, I try to bring myself to a coffee shop for me time at least once during weekends.
4 - Do you prefer getting takeaway or actually sitting in a restaurant and eating your meal there? Dine-in. For me ambience is a big part of eating food, and even if I had the once-in-a-lifetime chance of getting to eat the absolute best meal in the whole world, if I’m eating it alone at home I would still feel like shit.
5 - Where’s your favourite place to get takeaway coffee (or whatever your drink of choice is)? Starbucks. We have five joints in the highway I live on alone, so it’s both a personal preference and a I-don’t-really-have-a-choice type of situation haha.
6 - Do you tend to keep your phone on silent, vibrate or loud? It’s on vibrate during work days; then I’ve formed a habit of putting it on Do Not Disturb during weekends or holidays.
7 - If you have pets, when was the last time one of them annoyed you? What happened? Cooper thought my hand was a toy earlier so he was biting on it, and not in a very playful way.
8 - When was the last time you went into a bookshop? Around a week ago when I was buying presents; I needed to get my cousin the mechanical pencils and eraser she wanted for Christmas. I also came across the bookshop that Gab and I would make a habit to visit, but I didn’t go inside as I didn’t know if I was prepared for the memories that would inevitably flood back. I looked through the stuff they had on their windows, though.
9 - What was the last thing you ordered off Amazon? I don’t know if Amazon operates here. But the last thing I got from a local e-commerce app - don’t judge me HAHA - is a phone socket featuring the face of my newest K-drama crush. I placed my order literally 10 minutes ago.
10 - When was the last time you took a dog out for a walk? Is this your own dog or did you borrow someone else’s? Yesterday. Both were my family’s dogs.
11 - What jewellery do you have on at the moment? Not wearing any, haven’t worn any in a while.
12 - Do you have any products in your hair right now? What are they? Just shampoo and conditioner. I never put anything else on it; I don’t really deem hair products other than those two a necessity.
13 - Have you ever used a VPN to access foreign content online? Hahaha no. I’ve wanted to try it out, but I’ve always been paranoid that the NBI would come knocking at my door the moment I install one of those.
14 - Who was the last artist you listened to? Is this someone you’re a fan of? She’s a Korean singer named Cheeze, though she’s honestly unfamiliar to me. The song she contributed for the OST of Start-Up is my absolute favorite in the entire tracklist, and that’s how I knew of her.
15 - What was the last thing you had to drink? I’m at a cafe joint right now and they didn’t have my usual order of caramel macchiato, so I opted for a Spanish latté because it sounded new to me.
16 - When was the last time you cooked something for the first time? Did it work out the way it was supposed to? I made a Monte Cristo sandwich, if that counts as ~cooking; this was about a little more than a monthh ago. It worked out significantly better than I was expecting, given how rubbish I am in the kitchen. I lacked a couple of ingredients, like mustard for the sauce and the right kind of cheese, but I still ended up liking it.
17 - Black cats are considered to be bad luck - is this a superstition that you’ve ever believed in? Not me personally, but I know this is still widely believed in my country. It’s sad, so I approach black cats whenever I can and play with them for a bit.
18 - Would you ever eat blue cheese or do you find the idea of eating mould to be pretty repulsive? It is definitely not my favorite; I’d say 5 times out of 10 I would consume it, and the other 5 I would set it aside. I enjoy it the most in pizzas and as a sauce for chicken wings.
19 - Do you visit the dentist every six months like you should? Is that the standard schedule? Lmao. I only go when I have to.
20 - How old were you when you first used the internet? Was it dial-up or did you have access to proper broadband? I was first exposed to the internet at around the ages of 3 and 4, when my mom would use the dial-up internet to email my dad (he had just started to work abroad). For many years I thought Yahoo Mail was the only website that existed, since that’s all I saw my mom use. Eventually my dad got broadband for the family by the time I was 10, and the first website I ever looked up was YouTube.
21 - Are you old enough to remember using floppy discs? I remember those; I just never had to use them myself.
22 - When was the last time you purchased an actual DVD or CD? Andi gave me a Petals For Armor CD for Christmas, if it counts. Because they’re the most awesome fucking friend. The last DVD I bought myself was probably a Beyoncé's Life Is But A Dream, which was...holy crap, 7 whole years ago.
23 - Do you shave? Which body parts and how often? I do. I shave my underarms every few days, and my legs monthly.
24 - What’s your favourite season, and what are some of your favourite things about that season? We don’t have the usual four seasons we hear about in other countries; we only have wet and dry. Between those two, I definitely like wet more because I love the rain, and I like how cold it can get.
25 - When was the last time you burned yourself? I took a big bite of a lumpiang togue yesterday when it was still piping hot, so it felt like I almost burned my tongue and the roof of my mouth. But since I was a guest at my dad’s family’s house, I couldn’t spit it out.
26 - Have you ever been the victim of a theft or robbery? What was stolen? Did the police ever catch the person who did it? Someone stole my wallet in high school, and I never got it back. It was a small petty thing that the police didn’t need to be involved in, lol. I know my mom’s family got robbed when she was a teenager, though; the worst thing that got stolen was their grand piano :(
27 - What was the last TV show you discovered that you really liked? What was it that got you to watch it in the first place? START UP. I first heard of it from my co-workers who would mention the show here and there; and because I was new to the team and wanted to have something in common with them so that I can break the ice, I figured I should start on the show myself. Ended up getting obsessed with the show and gaining a new Korean crush altogether.
28 - Have you seen any of the live-action Disney remakes? Which one is your favourite? What about your least favourite? No, those have never looked even remotely appealing to me. I never saw the point of recycling movies that already exist and already feel magical by themselves.
29 - Do you have any exciting plans for tomorrow? If not, how are you planning to spend your day? It doesn’t sound exciting on its own, but I’m very much looking forward to be a homebody tomorrow haha. We’ve been with extended family for five days straight and I’m at a café right now for some me time, so tomorrow I can’t wait to just be at home and lounge around.
30 - Would you ever keep a working dog as a pet? Do you think it’s fair to keep dogs like huskies in flats when it’s so different to their natural environments? If the dog is already trained or certified to be a certain kind of working dog, I don’t see the point in keeping them for myself when they could be beneficial for other purposes. The only time I see myself adopting a working dog is if they’re already at the point of retirement and would need a loving home to live out their remaining years.
--
1 - Are you a fan of garlic bread? Do you eat it on its own or as part of a bigger meal? Love garlic bread; I regularly have it with my pasta and occasionally, pizza.
2 - When was the last time your area was under some kind of weather warning? Did it end up being as bad as predicted? Last month, during Typhoon Rolly. Other cities had worse experiences, but it also wasn’t sunshine and rainbows on our end. We had a blackout for around two days and I had to file for an emergency leave four days into my new job, which was super embarrassing. It didn’t flood in our street but the water was high in other areas in our village, so we couldn’t go out for a while.
3 - Do you ever buy things from charity/thrift shops? What was the last thing you bought from there? I don’t recall ever buying anything from either.
4 - The last time you got fast food, did you eat in, takeaway or go through the drive-thru? My last fast food wasssssss Jollibee, and my parents got it for takeout so that we could eat as a family at home.
5 - If you have multiple pets, do they get along with each other? Hahaha no they don’t. It’s been six months since we got Cooper but the two still don’t get along, unless it’s Kimi trying to hump him. It’s understandable; Cooper is a vibrant pup that’s super excited and play bites all the time, and on the other side is a nearly 13 year old, nearly blind, can’t-smell-as-well-as-he-used-to senior dog; and I get that Kimi’s more sensitive to sudden movements now.
6 - Do you ever buy things off eBay? If you do, do you participate in auctions or do you just use the “buy it now” option? I never go on eBay. And since I’ve never checked it out, I never understood the gimmick of the website.
7 - When you go out, do you worry that you’ve forgotten to lock the door or turn something off? Yeah, this is especially the case with locking the front door.
8 - What fruits and vegetables have you eaten so far today? Do you tend to get your “five a day”? I didn’t know five a day is a thing of some sort; but it’s only 8:47 AM and I haven’t eaten anything at all yet today.
9 - When was the last time you were in pain? What caused it and did you manage to get it sorted in the end? Last night when my back was giving me hell. As for the cause...idk, years of bad posture maybe? I was able to deal with it for a bit with the new massage pillow that my dad got for Christmas.
10 - Do you live in an area that gets lots of snow? Do you like it? If not, would you like to live somewhere that gets that cold? I would love to move somewhere that’s generally more cold. Humidity gets exhausting to deal with.
11 - What was the reason for your last doctor/hospital visit? My fever had already been lasting for a week and wasn’t showing signs of going away. No Covid symptoms, just pure hellish fever.
12 - If someone had told you that 2020 would see a global pandemic, countries going into lockdown, compulsory face masks and millions of deaths, would you have ever believed that you’d live through something like that? My personal biggest surprise for 2020 wasn’t even the pandemic. I would have had a more violent reaction if I was told I would no longer be in a relationship and be barely talking to my then-girlfriend of six years by the end of 2020.
13 - Do you prefer having the blinds/curtains open or closed when you’re at home? Does it depend on the weather or the time of day? Always closed. I don’t ever voluntarily open the curtains or windows to let the sunshine in.
14 - Do you use an ad-blocker on your computer or phone? Why/why not? I use one on my laptop because the ones on YouTube can be extremely annoying. I didn’t know it was possible to put on ad blockers on phones (is it?).
15 - Do you still use a paper diary/planner to organise your appointments and schedules? No, but I’m thinking of getting a planner again for 2021. I used to get a Starbucks planner every year just because I wanted to get into their Christmas promo hype, but I never completed any of them. Now that I’m working and am busier all around, I see the bigger need for a planner. These days, I use a Google extension called Momentum to list down my to-do tasks. My parents also got me a corkboard for Christmas on which I stick notepads with things I have to do for the day.
16 - When was the last time you charged one of your electronic items? Do you have to charge that specific item often? I’m charging my laptop now. At this point it’s always plugged in because I want to keep the cycle count low, though I’m not sure if it’s the healthiest thing to do.
17 - Have you ever thrown or broken something in a temper? Yes, definitely. I’m not normally aggressive when angry, but sometimes it happens.
18 - What does your outfit look like today? Did you pick it out for a special reason? I have on a black sundress that I didn’t change out of. I wore it yesterday when I went to a coffee shop to spend some time on my own.
19 - Do you follow any vlogs or podcasts? What is it about them that interests you? I do follow certain channels who do vlogs, but I never tune into them since most of them have gotten a little uninteresting. I’m also subscribed to several podcasts like Andi’s and Renee Young’s, but I’m not always in a podcast mood; I subscribe because I want to support them.
20 - Aside from Tumblr, what websites do you spend the most time on? Do you go through phases of visiting certain websites? I visit Twitter and YouTube the most often. I will binge Reddit every now and then, and I will get into a Wikipedia black hole at least once a week.
21 - Do you have a good relationship with your siblings? If you don’t have siblings, what about your cousins or extended family? I do not maintain a relationship with my brother after he physically assaulted me last year. My sister and I are on good terms, but we’re not close in that I can cry to her or that we know each other’s secrets. We have a very good casual relationship, and we never argue.
22 - When was the last time you were up early enough to see the sunrise? I hate the sun so I don’t really do that lol.
23 - What movie series did you last watch from start to finish? Was it one you’d seen before? I only ever do this with Twilight. I have my annual Twilight Saga marathon where I watch all five films in one afternoon hahaha.
24 - Do you still enjoy watching children’s TV programmes? What was the last one you watched? Yeah, but only the ones I watched as a kid. My cousins and I watched the Wet Painters episode of Spongebob last Christmas Eve right after we finished Midsommar.
25 - Who was the last person to tag you in something on social media? How do you know that person? I have no idea. I’ve been going in and out of deactivation, so at this point I’m sure people no longer have any clue if I’m on a certain social media website or not.
26 - What was the last thing you took a photograph of? It was a screenshot of something I wanted to show Angela.
27 - Are you a fan of giving animals human names? Sure. I certainly find it funny when pets are given incredibly ordinary human names, like Bob or Mark.
28 - When was the last time you weighed yourself? Were you happy with what the scale said? Christmas Eve eve, when I saw a weighing scale in my cousin’s room. I mean it’s what I’ve weighed for the last 5 years or so, so I have no complaints.
29 - How often do you buy yourself new clothes? What was the last clothing item you bought for yourself? Used to be a few times every month, but I have not bought anything new since before the pandemic. The last items I got were still the tops with puffed sleeves that I bought in March.
30 - What is the reason behind your mood today? Is this something you could have done something about? I’m mostly at ease; a little anxious because work continues for a certain headache of a client even though we told them our office would be on shutdown; and a little melancholic for no reason. I’m trying to combat the latter by doing my embroidery and it’s kind of helping, but the sads are still lingering.

all of them except 77, 78, 81, 92 and 96
Ember, I know this was you. I’m doing it, but that’s 93 questions you’re asking for so they’re going under a cut.
1. Talk about your first love. There have been a lot of those, so let me talk about the first one I really remember. I was in eighth grade, at the time, and she wasn’t exactly a great person looking back but she was cool and confident and she liked me, and she called me her best friend, and probably the best school-related memory I’ve ever had was her tackle-hugging me from across a classroom. I didn’t even realize I liked girls until she’d pretty much left my life completely. Maybe I’m looking at it through rose-tinted glasses now, but I think that’s okay, sometimes. 2. What’s the most beautiful songs you’ve ever heard in your opinion? Most of my favorite songs are Owl City, especially the older stuff. It has a soft, dreamlike vibe to it that I find really pretty even when it’s depressing. 3. How’s your heart feeling right now? Pretty good, I think? 4. What kind of self care is your favorite to do? The fun stuff. Bath bombs, makeup, fancy shampoo. Retail therapy actually works pretty well for me, even if a lot of the time I don’t even buy anything. 5. What’s your skincare routine? Um... Shower? 6. How did you get to be so beautiful? Natural talent and carefully learned confidence. 7. Do you have any stuffed animals? Oh, do I. I have like, seventy Webkinz, and that’s without getting into anything else. You could say I collect plushes, even if I don’t do it as actively now. I have a couple of Eevee plushes, too - I’d say I want to own all of them one day, but I’m like, 95% sure that’s not possible. 8. Best trip you’ve ever been on? Once, we went to Prince Edward Island for a week, and my mom surprised me by meeting up with my best friend’s family, who happened to have gotten a room at our hotel for one night. I think that probably wins. 9. Favorite thing about your room? That it’s starting to look like it belongs to me, even if I want to move somewhere else. 10. Opinion on love? It takes work, but it’s worth it.
11. Are you affectionate? Around people I’m comfortable with, definitely. 12. Who do you look up to? The people who have enough confidence to be unapologetically be themselves.
13. Favorite poet? Robert Frost. When I was eleven, I found a book of his poems, and I loved that book so much I didn’t pay any attention in English class at all.
14. Song that makes you happy? How about one that calms you down when you’re in a bad place? There’s a lot of songs that make me happy. Hard to go wrong with the Pokemon theme, though. As for things that calm me down... It’s Alright by Mother Mother and Misguided Ghosts by Paramore have both got me through a lot.
15. Do you play an instrument? No. I was supposed to learn piano in seventh grade, but I couldn’t read the sheet music so they never let me play, and I tried to learn guitar multiple times but it never stuck for the same reason.
16. Do you do art? Using what (pencil, watercolor, etc)? I paint, though not as often as I’d like to! Using acrylics, usually, but watercolors sometimes.
17. Do you dance? What style of dance? I took ballet as a child, til they kicked me out of class, and I still enjoy dancing but I don’t remember any of what I learned.
18. What’s your zodiac sign? Do you believe in astrology? Gemini. I think it might have some kind of truth behind it, but I’m not really one of those all-or-nothing people. It’s just for fun, you know?
19. Favorite old film? I don’t watch a lot of them. Does The Aristocats count?
20. What’s your hairstyle? It’s long and wavy. I’m getting blue highlights soon.
21. What weather is the most beautiful, in your opinion? Light rain. The kind that dries off before you get inside, when the sky is perfectly clear, but it starts falling anyway and it stops just as quickly.
22. What upsets you most about the world? That however hard we try to fix it, we’re unlikely to get very far.
23. Are you in love right now? Yes. At least, I think so.
24. Do you have a crush? If so, talk about them! I have a girlfriend. Is that the same thing? She’s cute and funny and she thinks the same things about me for some reason, and she knows exactly how much of a disaster I can be and hasn’t run away yet.
25. Do you have pets? Talk about something sweet about them! I have a cat, Little Prince. His sister died about a month ago, and she was the one who usually kept me company (total lap-cat), but ever since he’s usually either close to where I am or comes when I call him over.
26. Do you have a lucky number? Any multiple of seven, but especially fourteen. They’re my favorite numbers for the same reason.
27. Have you ever wished on a star? What about on a fallen eyelash? I try to wish on stars, when I see them. Eyelashes I’m usually more annoyed about than anything.
28. Do you believe emoji spells to work? I think anything has the potential to work, given the right amount of effort and intent. That said, I don’t think you’re going to accomplish anything drastic.
29. Do you believe in magic in general? Oh, definitely. Just look at the world we live in. How can you not believe in magic when it’s all around you? The night sky without air pollution, the sunlight dancing on the water, candy cane white hot chocolate - it’s everywhere, in everything.
30. What’s the most beautiful thing in life, In your opinion? Everything. There’s something beautiful in everything, if you look for it. Today, let’s say the feeling of sliding around on a hardwood floor in fluffy socks, dancing along to one of your favorite songs.
31. Opinion on the color pink? What about baby blue? As a kid, I hated pink. I like it now, though. Blue is my color, light blue especially (particularly with star patterns), so I’ve always liked it.
32. What instrumental sound is your favorite? Am I alloawed to say wind chimes? I’ve always thought they sounded super pretty.
33. Do you like the sound of wind? What about the sound of rain? I love them both.
34.Who makes you happy? My friends. All of them, in different ways, the people who are still in my life for various reasons. I love them.
35. What makes you happy? Light rain, strong wind, good music. My cat’s soft meow when I wake him up by accident. White peppermint hot chocolate. Fall colors, string lights, Halloween and winter holidays. Ice and snow and skating, dressing up for no apparent reason. The trick to it all is finding new things every day.
36. Imagine your ideal life, the life you wish to make, what will that look like? A house big enough for a family. A degree of some kind hanging on the wall. A life where I’m making things because that’s what I love, and I can try new things just for fun, where I don’t have to worry about money so much. The chance to get married someday, maybe.
37. Do you wear makeup? If so what’s your favorite type of makeup or specific makeup product? Favorite store to buy makeup? I do! Unless someone else is doing it for me, I generally keep to lipstick and eyeshadow. I’ve never been especially picky about what brands I use, but I usually go to Nyx because it’s on my usual route when I go on shopping trips, and I’m kind of attached now. Plus, nowhere else I’ve been in person has as many bold colours.
38. Do you wear dresses? If so what’s your favorite dress you own? I like wearing dresses. My favorite that I still have is a longer black dress, and it’s in serious need of either repair of retirement, but I got it for $20 as a cosplay outfit last year and it served its purpose. I wear it around still, sometimes, because it’s generally an easy fix.
39. Ever been heartbroken? How do you deal with it? Yeah, a few times. I vent to my friends, usually, and then I eat ice cream and listen to gnash for a while and eventually I start to feel better.
40. Who’s your closest friend? What do you love about them?
41. Introvert or extrovert? Kinda both? It’s complicated.
42. Do you like MBTI? What’s your MBTI? Is that... Fuck, is that the one with the letters? I think I got ENFP last time, and when I was younger it was INFP.
43. Would you be a fairy, a mermaid, a vampire, a siren, a or an angel? I’ve had people tell me I have ‘fae vibes’ before, so let’s go with that and hope it’s not offensive.
44. What’s the best song a friend has ever introduced to you? I don’t remember enough of them to feel good about picking one. I basically only listen to music I’m recommended now.
45. Parlez-vous français? A little, by virtue of being Canadian and having driven through Quebec. Not enough to carry on a conversation.
46. Most beautiful place you’ve been to? Prince Edward Island, hands down. It’s gorgeous.
47. Where/when do you truly feel at home? When there’s a light breeze, and the perfect song is playing, and the people I love are there. When we’re laughing with each other.
48. Does smiling put you in a better mood? Try it right now, you’re smile is gorgeous! I don’t think it does, honestly? But it does tend to happen when I’m happy.
49. Favorite shoe you own? These ankle boots I got secondhand that have little metal stars on them. I’m gonna be so upset when they finally wear out and I need new ones.
50. Can you walk in stilettos? Do you like them? God, no, I’ve tried. Any heel that’s too sharp or pointy or tall is a major problem for me. It’s part of what makes finding shoes such a pain.
51. Do you feel loved? Not always, but yeah. When I remember, or when I ask, or when I’m reminded.
52. How do you express love to those you care about? I try to tell them, but I’m also the type to engage in constant teasing. I’m the friend that punches you in the arm as a show of affection.
53. Favorite term(s) of endearment? The more creative ones. The basics don’t do much for me, honestly, but it’s more about the person saying them anyway.
54. Most romantic thing someone’s ever done for you? Make me feel like I don’t have to try so hard to feel like myself.
55. When is the happiest you’ve ever been? Walking the downtown city streets in winter. It was cold, sure, but it was gorgeous and I finally felt independent for a while.
56. Are you happy right now? Yeah, I’d say so.
57. What makes you smile? Bad jokes, among other things.
58. Do you laugh a lot? Yeah. A lot more than I used to.
59. What’s your favorite kind of aesthetic? Punk/scenecore. They’ve really influenced my more recent style choices.
60. Do you want to marry for love or for some other reason (like money)? Love, definitely.
61. What would your dream wedding look like? Do you want to get married? With someone I love, and the other people I love there too. Somewhere beautiful. I think I do, someday, but it’s not something I’m so worried about.
62. Favorite flower? Roses. Blue Moon Hybrid Tea Roses, in particular, are especially pretty.
63. Favorite artist? I don’t really have one. I do enjoy looking at art, though.
64. Favorite music artist? Owl City.
65. How kind do you think you are? Is kindness important to you? I don’t know. People seem to think I’m kinder than I believe I am. It’s important to me, yeah, to try and help people and to do nice things.
66. Ever made a playlist for someone? A few times. They were never anything special, as far as I’m concerned.
67. Do you have anything you do to physically comfort you when your sad? Such as a favorite blanket? Or a relaxing bath? Long, warm baths and cuddling with my cat. Warm blankets and stories with happy endings.
68. Early bird or night owl? Night owl. I’m a night person.
69. Morning routine? Wake up, do nothing for a while, actually get out of bed and figure out breakfast. While that’s going on, try and figure out if anything important is happening today.
70. Night routine? Get comfortable, then write or daydream til I fall asleep.
71. What is the most lovely quality a person could have in your opinion? Self-confidence and a willingness to help others.
72. Do you cry often? Does crying help you get the emotions out? Do you feel better after? I tend to hold back my feelings til they all fall out. So I end up crying at least twice a month, usually. It helps, yeah.
73. Do you like hugs? From people I feel comfortable with.
74. When was the last time you kissed someone? On the lips? Never.
75. Are you small or tall? Small. I’m 5′0.
76. Do you like wholesome memes? Yes. They’re cute.
79. Have you ever lived in a different country than you currently live in? Nope. I’ve never lived outside this city, only been on trips.
80. Do you like plane flights? Airports? I’ve only flown once, and I was two, so I don’t remember it very well.
82. The beach or a forest? Sand or bugs? Depends on the day. Today, though, forest.
83. What time of day do you tend to be in the best mood? Evening, usually.
84. Do you push yourself to act together and in a good mood even when you aren’t? Yeah, when I’m stressed.
85. Favorite kind of tree? Either maple or pine. I’m Canadian, what can I say?
86. Do you care about the health of the Earth? Yes, but there’s only so much one person can do.
87. What did you like most about your childhood, if anything? Field trips. Adulthood is sorely lacking in field trips.
88. Do you read a lot? What’s your favorite book? I used to. These days I still read, but it’s mostly fanfiction. My favorite books, though, are Tamora Pierce’s Emelan series and the first two books of Kenneth Oppel’s Silverwing trilogy.
89. What are you most nostalgic for at the moment? Trick-or-treating.
90. What’s your favorite personality trait you have? I try to let the people I love know that I love them.
91. List at least ONE thing you love about your appearance. I have pretty great hair.
93. Do you worry a lot? Constantly.
94. The dazzling lights of the city or the relaxing countryside? The city. The countryside’s nice, but the streetlights and the city skyline are what make me feel at home.
95. Ever changed the shoelaces on one of your shoes? For what reason? I actually don’t know how to tie laces, so no. I’ve never been able to pick it up. I might get someone sense to, if I could find cool enough laces.
97. Do you like doing little acts of kindness? Yeah. It feels good to make people happy, you know?
98. How’s your day/night going? Pretty good! I did just spend over an hour on this, but I finished it, so that’s an accomplishment of its own.

“What am I doing?” Hoseok asked himself.
Running a hand across his face, he leaned his cheek on his closed fist, elbow propped up on the black high table he was sitting at with his back to the door.
Shortly after you left, he had been running around to clean up the kitchen. There wasn’t much to do really, but he didn’t want you to come home and see the dirty dishes incase you got back before him.
By the time he reached the café he had five minutes to spare. Dressed in ripped denim blue jeans and a black tee-shirt tucked in at the front, he had his trusty acorn pouch attached at the hip. Usually he would be bundled up, but the café he had asked Namjoon to meet him at was kept warm during the winter, making jackets a pain to carry or wear.
A ding echoed throughout the café and with his ears perking up, Hoseok straightened up and turned to watch Namjoon. Upon inspection, the wolf hybrid’s face relaxed when he saw that the only other people here, including the staff, were hybrids.
That was the other reason Hoseok picked this café, not just because some of the best pastries he ever tasted came from here, but because the owner, Seokjin, was a good friend and a hybrid himself. A Siamese cat hybrid to be specific. While the laws had changed over the last twenty years to make it easier for hybrids to live like everyone else, there were still humans out there who thought hybrids were just fancy pets.
“Hey,” Namjoon greeted Hoseok, taking the empty seat in front of him. “I didn’t know Jin owned a café.”
That was right, sometimes Hoseok forgot the Namjoon was still somewhat new to their group of friends. It had been a year since Namjoon joined them, but it had taken the majority of that time for him to become comfortable with everyone. Hoseok felt like he knew him longer though because they had bonded easier and quicker. He liked to joke and say it was because of the dog genetics that they shared.
“Yeah, it’s kinda where us hybrids meet up for some time without the girls,” Hoseok said, leaning back in his seat.
“I was wondering why he kept saying we needed to get together at Kim Seokjin’s. I just thought he liked talking in third person occasionally.”
Hoseok laughed at Joon’s explanation, having to set his coffee back down so he wouldn’t spill it on himself. “Nope. He’s just really confident.”
Namjoon smiled, taking off the knitted hat he wore, allowing his wolf ears to straighten up again. He left the grey fingerless gloves on as well as the green jacket.
“Did Katie knit the hat?” He asked, noticing the way it looked hand made instead of store bought.
“Yeah, and the sweater I’m wearing too. She likes being able to make me things, and it’s sweet that she does it. Plus, they’re warm too.” Namjoon’s eyes had brightened at the mention of Katie, his owner, even going so far to take off his jacket for a moment so Hoseok could see the cream-colored sweater.
It made Hoseok smile, his mind wandering back to you for a moment. The thought of you wielding two knitting needles made him nervous.
Namjoon had been watching Hoseok’s face though, the corner of his lips lifting as he put his jacket back on. He knew what was happening, had gone through it himself even. Before he could question Hoseok about it, Jin appeared at their table then with a smile.
“Looks like you finally decided to come to Kim Seokjin’s,” he said to Namjoon, setting a clear glass mug down in front of him on a blue saucer.
A chuckle escaped Namjoon as he nodded in agreement. “Yeah, figured I’d come down and see the place.” His eyes glanced around at the small, but homey, café.
The counter was made out of dark oak wood, and the display case had an array of pastries and treats that had everyone’s mouthwatering due to the smells. Behind the counter were all different types of coffee and espresso machines that looked too complicated for someone who didn’t make a living selling coffee. There was a couch on the left side of the building with a few armchairs around a coffee table, the rest of the furniture being high tables. Jin even had floor to ceiling windows with the name, Kim Seokjin’s Café, written in black cursive paint on one of them.
“It’s amazing,” he complimented Jin.
The Siamese Cat hybrid beamed at the compliment, grinning from ear to ear. “Thank you! By the way Joon, that’s Devil’s Blueberry Chocolate Mocha. I have to get back to baking. Enjoy the coffee you two.”
Hoseok waved his hand as Jin walked behind the counter and went through a door, disappearing from sight. Sighing, he wrapped his hand back around his own mug and took a sip of the steaming dark roast, taking a few minutes to collect his thoughts.
Namjoon took advantage of the silence to try the, bizarre coffee Jin had brought him. The name alone had him nervous. At first glance, it looked like a plain black coffee. But when he tilted the mug, the sunlight managed to hit the drink and he was able to see the purple hues. When it finally touched his lips, he was able to taste the dark chocolate. It wasn’t rich or creamy like some mochas tended to be, and upon taking another sip, he could taste the sweetness of the blueberries. Despite its name, it was borderline angelic.
“Jin likes to experiment with his coffees,” Hoseok explained. He had the same thing happen to him when he first came to the café. “To see what works and what doesn’t.”
Namjoon nodded, wrapping the mug in his hand as he sat up. “So, what exactly happened.” He didn’t want to beat around the bush anymore, especially when he was fairly certain he knew what Hoseok was going to ask him.
Hoseok stared down at his caramel colored coffee, chewing on his lip as he wondered if this was some mistake. Maybe he was wrong and was overthinking everything. But as soon as he thought that it died off like a shriveled-up raisin. No, that wasn’t possible either. You couldn’t not be his mate. Your smile alone sent his heart racing while calming him. And every time he had you in his arms, it was like he had the key to understanding everything.
Fuck, he just needed to know. “Is it…is it possible, to know someone for years, and only recent discover that they’re your mate?” He slowly asked, only meeting Namjoon’s gaze at the end.
Only, Namjoon’s face was neutral. It was neither happy or upset and surprisingly, that helped Hoseok to relax. If Namjoon had seemed excited, then Hoseok would start to get his hopes up. If he had looked upset though, Hoseok could only imagine what would happen then.
“Well…it all depends,” Namjoon thoughtfully spoke, shifting back in his seat. “Is it possible though? Yes. Common? Not really. But when it does happen, it usually occurs because the hybrid was going through a traumatic event. It’s like when someone gets hurt really bad and their body goes in to shock, they don’t feel the pain as much until they’re in a safe place and can relax. But once they’ve calmed down and the adrenaline has left the body, they get hit full force with exactly how much pain they’re in.”
Hoseok blinked and was immediately back in the past, more specifically, three years ago. He had been homeless and starving. The Shelters that were created to help hybrids had been overfilled, and it was his fifth shelter in twelve years. Prior to that, he had been left at an Adoption Center when he was twelve years old. And if he went even further back, when he was still a pup, he had been ripped away from his parents and sold to a rich family who wanted a hybrid for their daughter.
Her name was Carly, and she truly was a sweet girl. They had grown and played together, she snuck him sweets when her parents told her not to, and they were as close as possible. Then one night, she mentioned wanting a cat and the next day he was dropped off at a shelter with his backpack hurriedly filled with his belongings. Hoseok didn’t blame Carly though, not once did he think it was her fault. Back then, the two of them had talk about wanting a real pet cat, not a hybrid, but her parents must have thought otherwise.
He stayed at the Adoption Centers until he was eighteen. By then he was an adult and was done with it all. Yes, they provided food and warm rooms, but he was older and known for being transferred multiple times. People didn’t want to adopt a hybrid who seemed to be more of a hassle then he was worth.
For a year, he was on his own. Everything he owned was in the small backpack that had been worn thin over the years. He had slept in parks, ate whatever food he found, and in an effort to blend in with the humans so as to not get sent back to a shelter, he wore hats to cover his ears and tucked his tail either under his shirts or down his pant legs, which hurt like hell at times. Rain or shine, he suffered through it all.
When he wasn’t able to find a bridge or tunnel, he was stuck in the elements. Even after three years, he still dislikes the rain. He hated the memories that were associated with it. Like how it used to soak through his clothes, and the way the wind cut through his body all the way down to the bones. He lost track of all the times his tears mingled with the rain dripping down his cheeks.
Then one day, he woke up to find himself sleeping on a cot in an open room, surrounded by other cots with hybrids on them. One of them had been reading when he woke up and explained everything.
Apparently, he had been found passed out and unresponsive and when they took off his hat, his ears were a dead giveaway. They brought him to the Homeless Center for Hybrids, but they didn’t stick around to see if he was okay. Cold, exhausted, and hungry, Hoseok accepted his fate. This was the life he meant to live.
The Homeless Center for Hybrids not only gave a place for hybrids to stay, but also worked on trying to find new and safe homes for them. It was hard, especially with how so many of them had been mistreated, but the staff only wanted was best for the hybrids. They worked long hours, doing extensive background checks on the new possible owners, and often bought things when the Homeless Center was low on funding.
Hoseok lived there for a year. He watched friends come and go as they got adopted or found ways to support themselves. To take his mind off of his own circumstance, he tended to spend his time over at the Dance Studio that was nearby.
The Dance Studio was extremely inclusive. While they offered classes that required a payment, they waived the fee for those that were unable to afford it, or sometimes even offered the same class but for free if there was a large group of people interested. They didn’t stop there. If the rooms weren’t being used to teach classes, the public was welcomed to come in and use them for their own practice. As long as you shared the same love and passion for dancing and didn’t break anything, it was fine.
That was exactly what Hoseok did. He took the free classes and eventually joined an unofficial street dance group that practiced there. It was the only thing that took his mind off of being homeless.
Then…then Sue came in to the shelter on his twenty first birthday. She was twenty and her parents had recently passed away in the accident. The staff had told him that she was looking for a friend, someone who could help fill up the silence that came with the now empty house. By accident, he saw her. The door opened just as he looked over someone’s shoulder, allowing him to see her for a split second.
She was in the waiting area sitting on one of the green chairs, her head down as she stared at her feet, arms wrapped around her stomach. She had looked so alone and scared, everything he had felt way back when he was twelve years old. It brought out a protective instinct from within that he had obviously pushed down for years.
Hoseok went home with Sue that afternoon. It took a couple months, but once he was comfortable around her, she brought him around to meet her friends and their hybrids. He remembered that day, especially when he met you. The minute he smelled your strawberry cream scent he was hugging you. At the time, you had a boyfriend and he was still adjusting to his new life. Everything was still raw for him back then.
“Hoseok?” Namjoon called out. When the hybrid didn’t answer him, he reached over and shook his shoulder.
Startled from his memories, Hoseok blinked several times in an attempt to refocus his attention. He wasn’t homeless or bouncing around in the Adoption Centers anymore. He most certainly wasn’t abandoned either.
“Are you alright?” Namjoon asked, taking a napkin out of the holder and handing it to Hoseok. “You looked really lost in thought and well… you started crying.”
Silently, Hoseok touched his cheek, surprised to find that his skin was wet with tears. Looking around, he spotted several hybrids uncomfortable shifting in their seats, glancing in his direction every now and then with their ears pulled flat against their heads. “Shit. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean…”
Namjoon just shook his head, this time placing the napkin in Hoseok’s hand. “It’s okay Hoseok. Really, it is. You just need to take a deep breath.”
“I need Strawberry,” Hoseok automatically corrected, his hand stopping on his cheek as he paused.
The wolf hybrid merely raised an eyebrow at his friend, not surprised with how quick he was to fill in your special nickname for what he wanted. “She’s single now.” He quietly said, watching Hoseok for a reaction. “It’s been three years for you Hoseok. Life has settled down for you. I’m not saying that what happened is in the past, three years isn’t that much time, but it was enough for you to be ready for the next chapter of your life. And this time, it involves her.”
Hoseok held the crumpled-up napkin his lap, trying to think of some happy thoughts to relieve the sadness he had unconsciously projected out to everyone else.
“Take it from a wolf hybrid,” Namjoon gently said, a faint smirk appearing. “We believe our mates were created from Destiny. Sue just so happened be going to study abroad for four months, and you get to stay with your best friend, who’s single. The entire scenario screams Destiny.”
Hoseok scoffed at that, but the edges of his mouth were curling up in a smile. Lifting his head, he licked his lips and looked out the window for a moment. It was still early and you wouldn’t be back from classes for at least another two hours. He drank some of his warm coffee as he sat up. “Well,” he asked, “how do I tell her she’s my mate?”
Namjoon smirked, his features looking more wolfish by the second. When their gazes met, the male hybrids shared a knowing grin. “By making her see that you’re the man she’s always wanted.”

Update on life: 6/28/2020
Happy thing: I got a new plant. If it survives long enough, I’ll name it.
I’ve been posting a lot about BLM, protests, Sars-Cov-2, tear gas, police brutality, and more of that will be coming. It’s hard to post about school when the world is on fire but also because class is all on-line and I don’t want to post zoom lectures (a photo of a fellow student or lecturer). Also time passes so slow and then suddenly it’s gone and I feel like I haven’t done anything. it’s 12:21 am, forgive me for my ramblings.
Warning: Depressing shit, animal death (peaceful), illness, every type of stress
Personal life I probably shouldn’t share on the interwebs:
My grandfather got real sick and was in the hospital for 5-6 days after going to the ER. Just this week he got sick again and refused treatment, seems to be getting better but...that’s a thing that’s happening. My sister is 7ish months pregnant and found out one of her friends knowingly exposed her to someone who came into contact with someone with a positive covid test (so two people away). She found this out while at my house, with my mom, dad, me, and both grandparents. My cousin is symptomatic and he’s immunocompromised wife has moved herself into their guest room with their 3 year old son. Dad was individually exposed by someone else. And this Monday (6/22), me and my mom were in the exam room when they put one of our cats, Tigger to sleep. He was 18 years old. They think he had a stroke sometime in the night. He couldn’t really move. We tried to see if he would pass at home, but he kept trying to drag himself around, so we took him in. Needless to say, I’m not handling things well.
School:
I re-rescheduled my NBEO exam now that availability has increased. (Just a week later, but I need an extra week after the one I’ve just had.) The original process was absolutely insane! There was a national misunderstanding on the time zone and when the sign-up would unlock. It was supposed to be EST 12:01 am but they based it off EST without DST so it was actually an hour later than we thought (so 1 am east coast). Once we were let in to the scheduler, we expected times and dates from July 27th to August 15th. Those dates technically existed...nationally. Major cities (in major states) had some dates, the location I wanted had 2 days to choose from total. Other states had nothing until the alternate dates in November! Entire states with nothing! Some people got slots that said 12 am or 4 am and a few other times. They took the slots because there was nothing else and expected it to be a glitch, only to be informed the next day that those testing sites were open 24 hours! imagine taking an 8 hour exam at midnight. (I’m awake, but not mentally aware enough to a doctoral exam). Some people signed up out of state and plan to make the drive or FLY to the test. The schools nationally made them fix it and it eventually was, mostly due to the states decreasing social distancing regulations. Not sure how this will change with certain states getting hit hard and needing to bunker down again. My school actually did something for once and actually communicated on our behalf.
The town hall committee I was on to change the summer curriculum was half effective. We got two courses to alter (read: decrease) the course load from “Bat-Shit Insane” to “We only hate you a little” but still won’t start externships until August. My state’s current ...state of things has me worried if this won’t get pushed back again, if I won’t get to graduate on time at all. With the current plan, I still get to keep all my original rotations in their original order. I’m very happy about this, but it’s bittersweet in that I’ll probably miss the birth of my niece (though at this rate, it wouldn’t be safe for me to see her for some time as a healthcare worker) and I’ll be spending my birthday alone at my first site. Usually I’d drag the family to a theater production/performance of some sort the week of my birthday, but those are all probably cancelled by now anyways. We have been told that during the in-house rotation (at school) we won’t have to wear our white coats and are allowed to finally wear scrubs and black athletic shoes if we’d like to. These are to give us a better option for heath. If we choose to wear our white coat, it must be washed on a daily basis, which just isn’t practical. Multiple copies of the same scrubs and plain t-shirts to wear underneath is more accommodating to our current needs. In a few months, I’ll be dressing in a routine uniform as a healthcare working in a pandemic that can incubate in the organ I’ve decided to specialize in.
That post about “May you live in interesting times” and finally understanding why it’s a curse/threat. Yeah, I get it now.
it’s 12:54 am now and my alarm is set for 6:30 am so I can drive out and mow my grandfather’s land. I haven’t been sleeping much lately anyways. Boards will have to wait.
(If i need to add tags to block something for you, let me know.)

Stake Through the Heart Part 2 (Branjie)- athena2
A/N: So, I finally decided to write a second part to this! You can read part 1 here. Thank you @writworm42 for the idea and for beta-ing! I hope you all enjoy, and I’d really appreciate any feedback you have!
—
Brooke had always liked rules.
She liked knowing exactly what to do in every situation, rules helping silence the anxious buzzing in her mind, calming the fingers that fidgeted when she was unsure of herself.
It was easy to know what was good and what was bad.
And Brooke always wanted to be good.
—
She can only imagine how many rules she’s breaking now, knocking on a vampire’s door, rocking on the balls of her feet and shifting a bouquet of roses from hand to hand.
She hears loud thumps on the other side of the door, followed by a screeching that makes Brooke fear a cat just met its end inside. Maybe this is a bad idea.
“I’m coming, Mary!” Vanessa calls, and Brooke can’t help but smile through her anxiety that this is wrong.
She opens the door, red dress matching the roses, and Brooke doesn’t care how wrong this is. Part of her reasons that Vanessa is good, hasn’t killed any humans and has done nothing to hurt her, and even if this is wrong, Brooke is willing to be wrong the rest of her life to keep this warmth rushing through her, this flutter in her heart.
“Are these for me?” Vanessa yanks the roses out of her hands.
“Oh, um, yeah.”
She tugs Brooke inside to put them in water, and Brooke really wishes she didn’t because the kitchen is so bright and distracting it should come with a motion-sickness warning.
Construction paper spills over the kitchen table, forming a neon-green sea for the collection of LEGO sharks chewing on Totoro playing cards in the center. The Meme Wall is going strong, and this month seems devoted to a Halloween theme, a person in all black with a pumpkin head staring at her. A Burger King cheeseburger wrapper lies crumbled on the counter beside a collection of Taco Bell sauces. Brooke peers closer and sees a sheet of Avatar: The Last Airbender notebook paper entitled “Days Before Silky Throws Out Her Trash”, currently bearing eight tally marks in between images of Appa and Aang.
The screeching resumes from somewhere in the apartment and Brooke instinctively goes for the stake under her black dress, being armed at all times one of the first rules of hunting. She had tried to come here without it, she really had, but she felt too exposed, too unprotected, leaving the house without the weight of it against her thigh.
“It’s okay, Brooke. No one’s in danger,” Vanessa says softly. She crosses to the hall and barks, “Silky, stop singing before you scare my woman away!”
Brooke grins and relaxes her grip. Focus on tonight. Focus on Vanessa.
“Why do you have a vase shaped like a hot dog?” Brooke asks as Vanessa puts the flowers inside.
“Why don’t you have a vase shaped like a hot dog is the real question.”
—
There were all kinds of rules. There were the small rules she followed at home with her parents, like putting her toys away and doing her homework before she played. These rules held when she lived with her grandparents, more strictly enforced and growing to include household chores as she got older.
There were school rules, like staying in line at lunch and being respectful, that Brooke followed so well her teachers always labelled her a pleasure to have in class, a title she got because the mere thought of doing something wrong and getting in trouble made her mouth dry out and her heart race, something the adolescent therapist her grandparents sent her to after her parents died had noticed and discussed with her.
And then, there were the most important rules of all: hunting rules.
—
“Damn, Brooke, you drive slower than my grandmother. And she rode a horse,” Vanessa teases from the passenger seat.
“I follow the speed limit,” Brooke offers in defense.
“I might turn 100 before we get to the restaurant,” she grumbles, but she smiles and eases her hand over Brooke’s thigh.
Brooke thinks of those lips and it’s enough to push down the fear. Her heart is calm as Vanessa strokes her knee.
—
The hunting rules were the most important. Though 8-year-old Brooke might have thought being late on homework (not that she ever was) was a matter of life and death, hunting rules truly were: the difference between killing an undead vampire, or winding up dead yourself.
Don’t ever let them get near your neck. Always carry a weapon. Make sure any civilians are safe before engaging in combat. If you can’t kill, wound. Flee only as a last resort.
Brooke followed all the rules, the Hunters Guild’s top worker. She kept people safe and brought down dangerous vampires.
They told her she was good.
And that was all she ever wanted to be.
—
“It’s so nice that whole ‘vampires can’t have garlic’ thing is bullshit,” Vanessa says as she crunches on her third slice of garlic bread. “I mean, could you even imagine life without garlic bread?”
“I might have to, since you’ve eaten half the loaf already,” Brooke mumbles.
“Hey!”
Brooke just smiles. They talk aimlessly until the food arrives, Vanessa describing all of her roommates in detail and listing their wildest exploits. Stories range from A’keria flashing her fangs at men that bother her, to Yvie walking around in classic vampire garb just to see the reaction, to Silky jumping off a Taco Bell roof just because she could. If it was anyone but Vanessa, Brooke would think it was made-up, but she knows Vanessa isn’t a liar. There’s something about her that Brooke trusts without question, a trust she’s never had with anyone before.
The food settles in front of them, and Brooke can tell the atmosphere is changing to something more serious, her hunter training leaving her sensitive to the slightest difference.
“So, did you always want to be a hunter?” Vanessa asks around a mouthful of meatballs.
Brooke fidgets with her fork. “I mean, I figured I would be eventually, but when I was a kid I wanted…” She smiles wistfully and shakes her head. “It’s dumb.”
“I’ve seen lots of dumb shit in my life, Brooke. Silky attaching our Slip N’ Slide to the roof is definitely in the top five. I don’t think anything about you is dumb.”
Brooke nods. She’s never had anything besides bar pick-ups and one-night stands, never shared much about herself with anyone. She takes a deep breath. “I wanted to design dance costumes.”
Her parents always said she didn’t have to hunt if she didn’t want to, but her family had hunted for generations. Brooke grew up hearing the stories of her family, all the good they did saving people, and she didn’t really see it as an option not to follow in their footsteps. Making ballet costumes was just something to push vampire legends out of her head when she was bored, or when she was tossing and turning in the spare bedroom at her grandparents’ house when her parents were on a hunt, wide-awake with fear that they wouldn’t come back to get her in the morning.
“That’s cute!” Vanessa squeals. “You danced?”
“Yeah, when I was a kid. After my parents died, and I moved in with my grandparents, I kinda just…stopped. They let me do unofficial hunter training, and that was all I really focused on.”
Training had taken the place of dancing in a way, at least in regards to her body. Brooke liked to move physically, liked having actions to follow that cleared her mind and gave her something to focus on, and if the ache in her limbs came from leaping on pointe or kicking at a punching bag, it didn’t really matter.
“That’s too bad,” Vanessa says quietly, and Brooke knows she means it. Her face heats up and she quickly shifts the attention away from herself.
“So, have you done anything exciting? I mean, you’ve been around a while.”
“You callin’ me old?” Vanessa cackles. “Nah, I’ve definitely seen some shit in my day. My parents forced me to go to these lessons where they taught me to act all ‘lady-like’. Didn’t work out for them, huh?” She roars with laughter, stabbing at another meatball as she continues. “I liked to dance, but I wasn’t too good. As for jobs, there weren’t a whole lot of options in those days. After I fell out with my parents, I kinda drifted. Helped people where I could, you know? I’d walk around looking for people in trouble and calling ambulances. I stole money from CEO’s and gave it to people that needed it, paid hospital bills and shit. I try to bring down one corporation per decade.”
Brooke knew Vanessa didn’t harm humans, but she never would have guessed all of this. She finds all her doubts destroyed to nothing. Maybe good and evil, right and wrong, didn’t always have to come down to rules.
“That’s really nice, actually.”
Vanessa shrugs. “My parents were assholes. Not even like, baby boomer assholes that destroy the economy and yell at waitresses and discriminate against people and think it’s okay if they go to church and shit. Straight-up real, murderous assholes. I don’t want to be like them.”
“I can tell you that you’re not,” Brooke ventures, sliding her hand across the table to hold Vanessa’s.
“I guess not,” she muses, gripping back. “And you’re not like those other hunters that kill without question, Brooke.”
I was though, Brooke thinks. I killed any vampire that even looked at me because of what happened to my parents. I even wanted to kill Vanessa.
Brooke knows that while Vanessa isn’t, nearly every other vampire is truly evil, killing people for fun. But she also knows now that all the killing in the world can’t bring her parents back, something she didn’t understand at 11, or even at 18 when she started. She’ll still continue to fight evil, but remember that protecting the good is what she really wanted to do all her life.
“Don’t you be overthinkin’, Brooke. Basically every vampire in the world is an asshole, I promise you that. You know how many people you’ve saved? You’re one of the good ones.”
Brooke nods. Someone like Vanessa has seen a lot, and if she sees the good in Brooke, maybe Brooke can see it in herself.
“You think we could go back to your place?” Vanessa’s voice is hopeful.
“Of course.”
Somehow Brooke still follows the speed limit, her heart faster than the car at the thought of Vanessa in her bed.
—-
Finally, there were all-purpose rules. Life rules that Brooke had been taught since she was a child rolling around in the grass and watching rabbits in her backyard.
Help other people. Be kind. Treat others how you want to be treated.
Brooke always thought she did her best to follow these, and she knows that Vanessa did too.
Though the rules Brooke has followed all her life mark Vanessa as a monster, Brooke knows in her heart that she’s not.
And she loves her.
—-
Vanessa sinks into Brooke’s mattress and her lips travel up Brooke’s collarbone, trailing soft kisses all the way that make Brooke close her eyes in delight, but then the lips brush against her neck–Don’t ever let them get near your neck, that was the first rule–and her eyes snap open. She jumps back from Vanessa and with reflexes sharpened by years of training has her fist closed around the stake in an instant, the smooth wood in her hand only intensifying the thought that she’s in a fight, that she’s in danger, and she can’t gain control of her rapid breathing.
“Hey,” Vanessa says gently, standing with her hands up. “I know you’re always in hunting mode, but you don’t need to be with me. I’m not gonna hurt you.”
She knows Vanessa won’t hurt her, but she’s the exception here. Several other vampires will hurt her, have hurt her, leaving cuts and bruises that healed and scars and fears that haven’t. But Vanessa keeps whispering that it’s okay and Brooke restores her breaths to the slow, steady rise she uses to avoid detection in the woods. She doesn’t always have to hunt. She is safe. She is still good. The stake thuds onto the dresser.
“I’m okay,” she insists to Vanessa’s worried eyes. The worry Vanessa has for her reminds Brooke that she’s safe, that she’s loved. She never imagined that love could come from a vampire, or that her body would hum with love in return.
“I’m okay,” she repeats, guiding Vanessa back to the bed and helping her pull the red dress off. “Now, where were we?”
—
“Hey, Brooke?” Vanessa hisses across the mattress.
“What?”
“You got air freshener in your bathroom?”
“Um, yeah, why?”
Vanessa leaps out of bed, whistling in relief. “Garlic doesn’t kill us but it sure does make things ugly in the bathroom.”
Brooke snorts into her pillow, waiting for Vanessa to return in a cloud of citrus air freshener before pulling her fuzzy blanket over both of them and drifting off to sleep.

Read on Ao3
Their apartment was silent as Marinette put her earrings back in and Adrien slipped on his ring. Both of them breathed a sigh of relief as their kwami blinked back into existence from the brief exchange. Not just because of the return of their companions, but because after a month of learning how their other half lived… it was nice to return home. Metaphorically speaking. Being the black cat of Paris was fun, but Marinette loved being Ladybug and she knew Adrien felt the same way.
Although… her time with Plagg always at her side did leave a lasting impact on her. Something that she needed to talk with Adrien about. She opened her mouth to speak.
“Adrien, I need to-”
“Marinette, there’s something I-”
They both blinked at each other before laughing. Adrien sat down on the couch and motioned for Marinette to take a seat beside her.
“Go ahead, bugaboo. I can wait a little while longer.”
Normally, she’d be inclined to argue for politeness sake, but she was so filled with energy and excitement and not a little fear that she eagerly took the opportunity. She sat down and leapt straight into it.
“This last month with Plagg has really opened my eyes.” The kwami tilted his head from where he sat on Adrien’s shoulder. She gave him a thumbs up. “I’ve been stuck in this weird place after my recovery - always being tentative and overly cautious.”
Adrien raised an eyebrow and had an amused smile. “The two of us seem to remember your recovery very differently. I distinctly recall having to keep an eye on you to keep you from pushing yourself too fast and hurting yourself.”
“That’s because I was frustrated! It took me a year just to return to some sort of normal living and a few more years to get back up to my old self.” She ran her fingers through her hair to push it back, give her some outlet for the remembered frustration. “But the mindset of being overly careful sunk in with me and I’ve been struggling to get out of it ever since.” She took a deep breath. “I think I’m ready to make my next big push.”
“That’s great!” Adrien reached over and squeezed her hand. “So what’s the plan? Are you going to be going to university like you’ve been thinking?”
She shook her head. “No, I’m thinking bolder. I’ve already got a good commissions business going. I have celebrity contacts and a good name in the industry. All I need to get my brand off the ground is a little push and some hard work.”
To her relief, he didn’t seem to be horrified or even shocked. In fact, it looked like he was seriously considering her plan. She’d been scared that it was too bold, that he’d accuse her of not ‘paying her dues’ to the industry.
“It’ll be hard work,” he said as he rubbed his chin, looking just past her. “But with your talents and how the field is in shambles after…” he swallowed and his eyes became distant, “...after the Agreste brand imploded.” He looked back at her. “There is definitely a vacuum right now, and plenty of room for fresh talent.”
“I’m so sorry, Adrien, I know that-” He put a finger on her lips and gently shushed her. His hand drifted to her cheek and he leaned forward to rest his forehead against hers.
“It’s okay. I’m okay,” he said softly. “I’m just glad you’ll be able to make something beautiful out of all this sorrow. Nothing would make me happier than watching you soar up to where you belong - right to the top.”
As he pulled away, she asked, “Do you think I’ll be able to pull it off?”
“It will be tough, but you’ve got the talent and you’ve got some important patrons already.” He smiled a very Chat-like grin. “And you’ve got me, with all my years of experience living in the industry.”
“Kitty, I’m not going to make you-”
“You’re not making me do anything. I want to help you succeed. I might even come out of retirement to do some modeling for you, free of charge.”
She intertwined her fingers with his. “Thank you, chaton. I appreciate- Wait.” His exact words caught up with her. “‘Come out of retirement’? What do you mean? I thought you were still modeling?”
He rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah about that… I was never really in love with it, and then with everything that’s happened since… I really just went along with it because it was all I knew.” He leaned forward and set his arms on his knees.
Scooting closer, she rubbed circles on his back. “So what changed your mind?”
“Tikki,” he said with a chuckle. “Talking with her, I realized that I have a family now, for the first time in… well, in a long time. I’ve got you, of course, but I’ve also mama Cheng and papa.” A sly smile lit up his features as he slipped an arm around her waist. “Now, while there has been plenty of benefits to moving in,” he pressed a kiss to her temple, “...I’ve also missed that sense of being surrounded by family.”
Wriggling free of his grasp with a smile, she said, “Please don’t tell me you want to move back in with them? I don’t think I can go back to my parents barging into my room at random times.”
He laughed, light and free. “No, no. I was just thinking that they’d like some extra hands at the bakery. And who knows? Business has been good for them these last couple years and they’ve been talking about opening another store lately…”
“I’m sure they’d love to have you there. I know they’ve been feeling a little down ever since we left, so I bet they’ll jump at the opportunity to have you around.” She smirked. “And if that means you learn how to make even more yummy dishes, then I’m definitely not going to complain.”
“Now I know you’ve been inspired by Plagg. You’re already thinking with your stomach.” The three of them shared a laugh while Plagg grumbled. “Before I commit to the bakery, I’ll finish up my remaining freelance contracts. While I’m there I can ask around to see if I can find some contacts for you. Maybe we can get you into a fashion show soon.”
“And I’ll be going over tomorrow to pick up some of our things that we left behind. I’ll mention you wanting to work there, maybe bug them about it.” She winked.
His wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her onto his lap. “I love it when you pun, my lady.” He leaned down to catch her lips with his.
She smiled against him. “It’s almost like I know it, centerfold.”
“Haven’t heard that one in a while.”
“Well, you won’t be a centerfold for much longer. I have to use it while it’s still relevant.”
He chuckled. “I guess you’re right.”
“Aren’t I always?”
“I won’t deny it.”
With wide, dopey grins they leaned in for another kiss when they heard a knock at the door.

Ch. 2- The Permission
Monday, July 20th. 9:45 AM.
It had been well over a month, now, and after weeks and weeks of slow-going classes, the day of summer vacation had finally arrived for the students of Shikon High. Some were already out, celebrating their newfound freedom in style, such as going to the movies with their significant other or going somewhere overseas for vacation, like Hawaii. Others decided to take advantage of being out of school in a more lackadaisical manner.
Take right now, for instance.
"Inuyasha!"
Inuyasha snored as he lied in his dark, cool bedroom, a pool of saliva forming on his pillow. The blinds were closed to keep out the sunlight and he had the lights turned off. Underneath his covers, the only article of clothing he wore were his boxers and the fake rosary necklace Kagome gave to him for his birthday earlier this spring. Miyuki, his now 3-month-old cat, lied curled up at the foot of his bed, purring softly.
"Inuyasha! Wake up, honey!"
Inuyasha groaned as he turned on his side, away from the door as he pulled another pillow over his head in an attempt to block out his mother's calls. He loved her and everything, but why couldn't she understand that he wanted to sleep in today?
"Inuyasha, get out of bed, right now! I am not going to let you sleep the whole day away!"
"Just five more minutes, Mom!" Inuyasha argued.
"...1."
"...Mom, I'm 18. Don't you think I'm a little old for that by now?"
"2."
"Mom?"
"2 1/2..."
"Okay, okay, jeez!"
To this day, he still does not know how counting to three works. Begrudgingly, though Inuyasha wanted to remain in bed, he was getting hungry. As he sat up, Miyuki suddenly opened her eyes, gave a tongue-curling yawn, and stretched out her paws, causing Inuyasha to smile as he gently stroked her from head to tail, causing her to purr. Then, the half-demon stretched his arms over his head, causing his shoulders to give off a popping sound that caused him to sigh in relief before he pushed the bedsheets off of him, then gathered some clothes from the floor: a dark red shirt that said "SANKON TESSOU" in black letters and a pair of black cargo pants before he headed to the bathroom to take a shower.
Inuyasha loved the summer...mostly because he didn't have to go to school for at least 2 months. He would spend the days just chilling out in the house or hanging out in the city with Miroku. Of course, now that Kagome was in his life, he would have to find a way to spend time with her...not that that wasn't what he was doing throughout their time spent at school.
As Inuyasha finished his shower, he attempted to tie his hair up in a bun since he knew it was going to get hotter throughout the season...except there was just one problem: it was so damn long, his fingers kept getting tangled in it.
"MOM~!!!"
True to form, his mother came and happily brushed and combed his tresses, then tied it all up in a man-bun and even secured with two hairpins. Then, she gave him a quick kiss on his cheek, causing his face to turn a light pink...but, in all seriousness, gratitude overcame his embarrassment, and in turn, he kissed his mother on her cheek, causing her to chuckle warmly as she hugged her half-demon son from behind. Inuyasha tried hard to hide the smirk forming on his cheek.
The things he did for love.
As he sat and ate breakfast with his parents, Toga glanced over at his son as he ate some grilled salmon.
"So, Inuyasha," Toga began, "have you packed everything yet?"
"What?" Inuyasha asked as he looked up from his food.
"Sweetie, don't you remember?" Izayoi asked. "We're going to our summer house in Hokkaido in a few days."
"...Oh, right," Inuyasha muttered as he took a bite out of his fried eggs.
"Well, have you?" Toga asked. "We don't wanna rush to the train because you haven't packed everything like last time."
"I'll get everything packed this time, I swear," said Inuyasha.
"And before you ask, we're taking Miyuki with us," Izayoi added.
"Thanks, Mom," said Inuyasha as he finished off his food, then carried his dishes to the sink. "Thanks for the food."
As Inuyasha went to wash the dishes, the phone rang, prompting Toga to get up and answer it.
"Hello, Taisho Residence," he said. "...Oh, hi, Kagome!"
"MINE!!" Inuyasha cried as he suddenly snatched the phone out of his father's hand and held it to his ear, striding casually to the living room. "Hey, baby girl. Nah, I'm not doing anything...except thinking of you."
Izayoi chuckled as she watched her son walk away with the phone in his hand while Toga sighed in slight irritation.
"I think it's nice that Inuyasha has someone to talk to," said Izayoi.
"Yes, except they talked last night," Toga rebuked as he sat back down at the table, "and the night before, and on Saturday, when she came over and..." He then paused. "...Actually, I don't even wanna think about what they were doing that night."
"Oh, come, Toga," said Izayoi. "We were in love, too."
"Were we this much in love?" Toga quipped. "Because I'm pretty sure there's a limit."
"Oh, stop," Izayoi chided. "I think it's sweet that they call each other...and besides, you like her, don't you?"
Toga chuckled, a smirk creasing his lips.
"I thought so," Izayoi mused...but then her face lit up. "Oh! I have a splendid idea!"
"Oh, no..." Toga muttered.
"Let's have Inuyasha invite Kagome to come to our summer house in Hokkaido with us!" Izayoi exclaimed.
"Izayoi, do you know how expensive three train passes to Hokkaido are?" asked Toga.
"I'm sure Kagome has one," said Izayoi.
"Maybe so, but what about Kagome's family?" Toga asked. "Inuyasha can't just go to her house and take her."
"I know that," Izayoi assured. "I just thought it'd be nice if she came along...and Inuyasha seems lonely without her around."
"Izayoi..." Toga started.
"Please, Big Daddy?" Izayoi asked while pursing her lips in a pout. Her secret weapon.
"...Ugh...you know I can never say no when you call me 'Big Daddy' and pout like that," the great dog demon bemoaned while Izayoi giggled, mischievously.
"If you guys are gonna kiss, I'm gonna puke!!" called Inuyasha from the other room.

11:34 AM.
Kagome was up in her bedroom, folding her laundry and putting it away. She was wearing a hot pink T-shirt with a pair of white shorts, and her hair was tied back in a ponytail with a pink scrunchie. As she put her clothes away, she picked up a red thong with black lace, causing her to giggle as her face turned red.
"Hey, that's the thong I bought you last month!"
"AAH!!" Kagome shrieked as she turned around, only to see a certain dog-eared half-demon, grinning at her toothily as he sat perched in her window, which caused her to snort as she walked up and lightly swatted his chest. "You sneak!"
"It's a gift," Inuyasha boasted as he entered the room, planting a kiss on Kagome's lips, which caused her to moan softly in his mouth before she pulled away.
"So what are you doing here?" asked Kagome.
"Actually...I'm here to talk to your Mom," said Inuyasha.
"My Mom?" Kagome repeated, tilting her head in puzzlement. "Why?"
"Well...my Mom wants you to come to our summer house in Hokkaido with us," said Inuyasha, "and...before I ask you, I have to ask if it's okay with your mom."
"What's okay with me?"
The couple turned to see Atsuko walk in.
"Oh!" she exclaimed. "Hello, Inuyasha!"
"Hi, Mrs. Higurashi," Inuyasha said as he bowed his head in greeting. "Uh...can I talk to you?"
"Of course, dear," Atsuko answered. "How about we go downstairs and I'll make you a cup of tea?"
XXX
11:40 AM.
Inuyasha sat at the table as Atsuko set down a cup of tea in front of him while Kagome's younger brother, Sota, sat next to him, watching him with bright eyes and a broad smile. Inuyasha glanced over at the 9-year-old boy before he gently ruffled his hair, causing him to laugh.
This wasn't the first time Inuyasha had been in Kagome's house. When he first started dating her earlier in the spring, Kagome brought him over so that she could introduce her to her family. Granted, it was a bit awkward at first. Inuyasha actually thought that Atsuko wouldn't like him because of his heritage, but she was all too eager to welcome him into their home. Sota grew quite fond of him, too, seeing him as an older brother figure, and Inuyasha also warmed up to him.
Kagome's grandfather...well, it took a little time, but eventually, he started to get used to him being around, as well.
"Now, Inuyasha," Atsuko said as she sat down in front of him, "what do you need to talk to me about?"
"Well, my Mom would like to invite Kagome to come with us to our summer house in Hokkaido," Inuyasha said. "We're gonna be there for at least 3 weeks. I mean...I'm not gonna make Kagome come with us if she doesn't want to...it's just that my Mom, Dad, and I thought I should get your permission before hers."
"Is that so?" Atsuko asked.
"Yes," Inuyasha replied. "So...what do you think?"
"...I have a few conditions," said Atsuko.
"O-of course!" Inuyasha replied as he sat up straight.
"First, you better keep your eyes on Kagome."
"Of course, I will, I promise!"
"Second, make sure she calls me when she gets there and at night before she goes to bed."
"Consider it done."
"And finally...if I find out that Kagome's been hurt, we're going to have words. Is that clear?"
"Yes, ma'am."
Atsuko smiled at Inuyasha, who gave her an awkward, crooked grin before she gently reached her hand over and touched his cheek, causing his face to turn light pink.
"I trust you, Inuyasha," she said. "If Kagome really loves you, I know that you'll keep her safe."
"...Of course, I will," Inuyasha nodded. "You can count on me, Mrs. Higurashi."
"Oh, sweetheart, you don't need to be formal with me," said Atsuko. "You can call me Atsuko...or Mom if you want to."
"Uh...I would call you Mom, but I don't want my Mom to get mad," Inuyasha said, sheepishly, causing Atsuko to laugh.
"What's so funny down here?" Kagome asked as she walked in.
"Nothing," Inuyasha replied. "I just got your mom's permission to bring you to Hokkaido...that is, if you want to come along."
"I'd love to go!" Kagome exclaimed. "I've never been to Hokkaido before!"
"I heard it's a little cooler in the summer over there," said Sota.
"That's why my parents and I head out there," said Inuyasha.
"Oh! I better start packing then!" Kagome exclaimed as she headed upstairs.
With that being said, she hurried up the stairs...but then she came back and gave her mother a quick hug.
"Thanks, Mom," she said.
"No problem, hon," said Atsuko as her daughter headed back upstairs while Inuyasha turned to look at her.
"Yeah," he said. "Thanks...umm...Ma."
Atsuko's eyes widened...but then she gave him a warm smile as she went up and hugged him, causing him to blush lightly at first...but then, slowly, he gently wrapped her arms around the woman while he affectionately nuzzled his cheek into her hair, causing her to chuckle softly.
I quite enjoyed this one. ^^

#TOStrong
On November 8, 2018, while other fires raged across California, and my community was reeling from a mass shooting the day before, a new threat loomed that would leave us all unable to properly mourn the loss of a friend and process all the casualties suffered at Borderline.
As we gathered at the vigil for the lives wasted in gunfire, we were unaware that in mere hours we'd have to gather our strength yet again and switch gears, some of us awakening in the middle of the night with minutes to pack our treasures and evacuate.
The Woolsey fire was coming.
Over 96,000 acres, spanning two counties, ignited with 295,000 people under mandatory evacuation. Over 1600 structures burned displacing people, farm animals, pets large and small, wildlife, and killing three people. Embers flew on gusts upwards of 60 miles an hour, jumping a freeway, racing through rugged terrain, up mountains, and down canyons of dried Chaparral and Scrub Brush— miles of ripe kindling which cannot ever be cleared or the mountains come down in deadly mudslides during the rainy season.
This is my community's natural disaster. Some have tornadoes, ice storms, floods, volcanoes, or hurricanes. We have fires followed by mudslides as our yearly natural disaster throughout our large state. This was the third experience to directly impact my family, so about once every ten years. "Why don't you move?" I hear some people say from afar. Then there was the online hate directed at this community I love. Name me a perfect place without natural disasters. There are none.
The wind changed direction, forcing us to evacuate in the middle of the night as we scrambled to pack our trunk. In the space of minutes, what would you grab? A tote of important documents I created for such emergencies: passports, social security cards, birth certificates, etc. Then wedding albums and framed pictures of my children when they were babies. The rest of my hatchback was stuffed with my kid’s lovies: ones they’d carefully chosen knowing we couldn’t save every stuffed animal. Then our pillows and sleeping bags for the evac-center cots, if any were available. Everything else: clothes, books, toys, toiletries, dishes etc. are replaceable and of little importance in a split second emergency.
We piled our two kids, two cats, and a big dog into our small hatchback and drove off into the night uncertain of when we could return.
In the middle of all this I called my sister who hadn't heard the evacuation warnings that the fire was upon her doorstep. She had just gone to bed. "Where are you?!" I said. "Home." All I remember was crying for her to leave immediately. "Get out now! Go!! Go!!" She drove by towering flames as structures around her turned to ash.
We were the lucky ones. We still had homes to come back to. Our biggest concern was poor air quality for weeks ahead; wearing our N95 masks and sadly knowing you’re smelling and breathing the ashes of other people’s loss. I can say with 100% certainty that our firemen and women are the nation's best; they get a lot of practice and work tirelessly for weeks, with little rest, putting their lives at risk.
Thank you CalFire.
Our community is strong and we pulled together to support those in need, even as our president leveled the blame at "poor forest management" despite there being no forest here, and as I’ve said many times there is no budget large enough to clear the very difficult and vast terrain, nor should that be a thought lest the mountains will bury you in your sleep from a lack of roots to hold the dirt in place.
The following images show the burn scar rebirth where the Woolsey fire stormed right into the heart of Thousand Oaks, Ca, across from our Civic Center's vigil for the victims of the Borderline shooting, in which we mourned the loss of our friend and others; young souls gone way too soon. These photos are consistent with the first image heading this post. The rebirth happened in 4 months time with our heavy rains. With all this horror it is a reminder of brighter days ahead, positive thinking, and to try to look for the good. There is always good to be found.
It is very hard to tell, but this maybe the skeleton of a Laurel Sumac.
A charred black Coast Live Oak tree that easily existed before WWI. I estimate it is near 18 meters tall and 26 meters wide after standing next to it. These are very slow growing which makes this specimen quite old.
The Civic Center is the large tan building to the left. Down from this hill is where the home from the first picture was located.
All these mountains burned, as you can see, some are still quite black on various peaks. They are apart of the Santa Monica Mountain range and descend into Malibu, which was tragically hit so hard by the Woolsey fire.
Chaparral over grows. It dries, it dies, it builds up and chokes out the beauty, but beauty lies in wait for the fire that burns out invasive species, parasitic vines, and choking poison oak. And with this fire that nurtures the soil, after such darkness and despair, a change in season.
Now these patient seeds take root, grow strong, and bloom in all their beautiful glory, witnessed by all. This cycle goes on. I use it as a metaphor for our own pain within us and trials I experience; that I can burn them out and reveal inner beauty once again. This mantra is found in the rebirth and the reason I document it. It's my meditation and it helps me cope and to know it will all be OK.

Memories
The beginning of it all
The creation of her
The death of them
Word Count: 8,520
April 14, 2001
The young lady walked in silence through the woods. She had failed. The six-month old baby in her arms was nothing more than a demon in her eyes. She had gone to every church in the city, even outside of the city. Nothing could save this child. Once she felt she had gone deep enough into the forest, she placed the baby on the ground, glaring harshly into the big brown and red eyes staring up at her in wonder. Without another thought, she left. The baby cried loudly after her.
Meanwhile, a real demon had been walking through the forest when the heart-breaking sound of a baby's cries met his ears. He turned in that direction and followed the sound. By now, the mother had been gone for roughly half an hour. The baby hadn't stopped crying since then. The demon found the baby, crouching down next to them. It was a baby girl. She had tufts of blonde hair going every which way, wearing a green dress and wrapped in a towel. Her left eye was a coffee brown, while her right was ruby red.
The demon looked into her soul, unsurprised to see that she wasn't a mortal. “A demigod,” he thought, seeing the clear godly energy her soul containted. Looking only a bit closer told him that she was a daughter of Hephaestus, but also clearly wanted by Zalgo. The young girl stared up at the demon in amazement, a tiny hand curling around one of his clawed fingers. Without another thought, the demon gently picked up the baby and took her to his mansion in the forest. Lacie Taner was the first.
January 28, 2004
An eight-year-old sat in the forest, shivering as she waited for her dad to come back. Januarys in Canada were always freezing, and at this point, her jacket had lost all its warmth. Her dad had told her to wait here for him, that he would come back for her. Scared to disobey, she did. She ran a hand over the bruise on her cheek, wincing as pain ran through her senses.
The demon had been coming home from a meeting with the other demons of the Council, when he felt a presence unfamiliar to him in the woods. The person felt like a child, and definitely not mortal. He teleported to the area the presence was coming from, appearing behind a little girl. She had light brown skin and dark brown hair, shivering from head to toe. Another demigod, this time a daughter of Demeter. He approached the child slowly, so as not to startle her. "What appears to be troubling you, child?" He asked calmly. Her eyes widened, staring up at this tall, skinny, faceless creature. Anyone else would be terrified, but she felt a sense of calm fill her, as if she knew whatever this creature was wouldn't hurt her. "D-Daddy told me to wait here. But he hasn't come back yet. He will though! E-Eventually." She felt her voice begin to die a bit as the words came out of her mouth. The demon nodded softly, almost sympathetically. "I see. Where did you get that bruise, child? He asked softly. The girl instinctively covered it. "O-Oh, uh...Daddy gave it to me."
"And why would he do that?" The demon kept the same calm, soft tone. "W-Well sometimes I mess up an' he, umm...he gets mad is all." He hummed, crouching in front of the small child. "What is your name?"
"K-Katie. Katie Gardner." It felt almost as if the demon was smiling at her as he said, "You may call me SM. If you would like, I can take you somewhere warm. I can take care of that bruise for you as well. You may wait there until your father gets back." SM said this, though he knew, just by looking at Katie's soul and what she told him, that her father had planned on leaving her out here. Katie seemed to reach that conclusion on her own, and the promise of warmth was hard to say no to. She nodded, taking SM's hand and being teleported to her new home and little sister. Katie Gardner was the second.

An eleven-year old walked through the woods. Their memories of their past life had come back half-way, but this is something they remembered very well. They looked around, finally seeing the clearing they had grown up in before. They smiled, sitting in front of the clearing and patiently waiting. It only took a few moments for someone to appear in front of them, a four year old girl with her hair in a small pigtail. "Hello! I'm Lacie! What's your name?" She said with a smile.
"Merida Knowles." They smiled back. They had shoulder-length brown hair and purple eyes, with two neon blue hearing aids in their ears.
"I'm looking for SM?" Lacie nodded, grabbing them by the arm. The mansion they loved appeared in front of them, and Lacie dragged Merida in excitedly. Katie looked up curiously from the garden before shrugging and returning to her plants. "Slendy!" Lacie shouted, running over to one door and pounding on it. "This girl named Merida wants to see you!" SM comes out with a sigh. "I understand your excitement, Lacie, but could you please not bang on my door?" Merida ran over to him, slamming into him and wrapping their arms around him. "You thought you could get rid of me so easily, well think again!" SM chuckled, putting a hand on their head. "It's a pleasure to see you again, Dalia. Or would you prefer Merida now?"
"Merida Knowles's good. I still have like half of my memories to recover, but I'll get there eventually." Lacie looked back and forth curiously. "What's goin' on?"
"Lacie, I would you to meet Merida Knowles. They are a Peculiar, with the ability to come back to life with all of his memories of her past life. In their past life, Merida was one of my Proxies, and it appears you've come back again." SM said all this with a twinge of grief in his voice. Merida nodded, a hint of grief passing over them as well, for what though, they couldn't remember yet. All they knew about how they died came from their fear of betrayal.
"You don't have to refer to me with multiple pronouns anymore by the way. I've thought about it, and I realized that I honestly couldn't care less what you refer to me as. She, him, them, I don't care." SM chuckled again. "Understood, Merida. Come, I have your room just as you left it." Merida Knowles was the third.
April 3, 2005
A twelve-year-old ran through the woods, heart pounding in her chest. Something was chasing her, a creature that had taken the form of her father. Her real father was dead in the attic of the place she had called home, killed by whatever that thing was. She didn't know what else to do but run.
Merida was taking a walk through the woods with Lacie and Katie, telling them fun stories about what had happened in the past, when they heard a scream. They immediately bolted towards the sound, Merida and Katie pulling out their daggers. The source of the sound was a girl with light brown hair and pale skin, a man standing over her. Before their eyes, the man melted into an ink-like creature with glowing white eyes. Merida yelled, grabbing the attention of the creature as they threw their dagger, hitting it directly in the chest. The creature immediately melted into an inky puddle. They walked up to the girl, kicking at the puddle and smirking. "You alright?" The girl nodded shakily.
"What...was that thing?" Merida helped her up, saying, "A sekalal. They're basically just creatures made to serve. Can turn into someone you care about in order to manipulate people. Actually..." Merida looked down at the puddle, crouching next to it and putting a finger into it. They muttered a spell, and the creature came back. The girl backed up quickly. "Don't worry. It's under my command now. Aren't you?" Merida spoke, cooing at the sekalal as if it were their pet. It didn't react.
"Could you turn into a kitty and curl up with Lacie over there?" It obeyed, melting into a black cat and rubbing against Lacie's legs. She giggled picking up the kitten and hugging it tightly to her chest, squealing happily as it licked her arms. Merida giggled, turning to the girl. "Anyway, I'm Merida. What's your name?"
"Uh..." She glanced around nervously. "Emily. Emily Underhill. Good to meet you."
"Same to you. Wanna come with us? I mean, whoever sent that sekalal after you probably isn't on our side. Which means they're bad. And you're probably not safe." Emily frowned. "But...my home. My dad—" She froze, eyes widening. Tears entered her eyes, quickly flowing down her cheeks. Merida's brow creased. They put an arm around Emily. "I'm sorry about your dad. But whatever happened to him is just even more proof that we need you to come with us. I'll explain on the way, okay Ems?" They smiled. "Can I call you Ems? It's a cute nickname." Emily sniffed, wiping away tears that refused to stop falling. "S-Sure." With that, Lacie, Katie, and Merida led her back to the mansion. Emily Underhill was the fourth.
October 2, 2005
A seven-year-old ran with Lacie into the forest from their house, blood staining their dirty clothes. They both stopped a small ways into the forest, panting. They followed Lacie a bit longer walking. Before they could ask if she was lost, she pointed towards a clearing. "The headquarters is over there! But, shh!" She put a finger to her lips. "No one can know about us. Like I said, we're a secret organization. Our leader is Mr. Slendyman, a tall, faceless man who wants to protect people like us from the demon Zalgo's possession!" The child gave Lacie a confused look, but continued to follow her. Even if they hadn't killed their family, they wouldn't have wanted to go back anyway. They weren't going to be a slave again.
Once they had gotten into the clearing, Lacie grabbed their hand and fiddled with a watch on her wrist. Blue mist began swirling around the two of them, and once it had cleared, a mansion appeared, as if it had been there all along. Lacie ran over to the building, forcing the child to run after her and inside. "Slendy! I brought Mr. Haight!" She shouted. Two people on the couch looked over at me. "Oh hey! Another boy! That's new!" Emily spoke, resting her chin on her hands and looking eagerly over at the child. Her eyes widened as she saw the blood on their clothes. "Oh...uh..." Merida quickly stood up. "It's alright. We have plenty of clothes to spare. Want me to show you?"
"Wait, is it normal for kids to show up covered in blood around here?" The child winced at Emily's volume. "Actually...kind of. Kids are easier for Zalgo to manipulate, and he often gets them to kill people around them. It's the main sign that Zalgo wants them and has gotten too close to claiming them. Can easily be taken care of, though. Don't you worry!" They smiled down at the child, who couldn't help but feel warm looking at the kind expression directed towards them. Merida let the kid wash and clothe themself before bringing them down to SM. "Here he is, sir."
"Thank you for bringing them, Merida." He responded, putting extra emphasis on them as he studied the child's soul. Merida made a quiet "oh" with their lips, before smiling and leaving the room. "What is your name, child?" They gulped, looking up at this ten-foot-tall creature, feeling nervous, yet excited at the same time. "Brian Haight." SM seemed to smile down at them. "It is a pleasure to meet you." Brian Haight was the fifth.
May 15, 2006—May 20, 2006
Six-year-old Lacie Taner and ten-year-old Katie Gardner had begun to show signs of special abilities. They had known they would start appearing, but had never known when. Lacie would accidentally summon balls of fire, and would often set objects on fire in her hands. Any plant Katie touched would automatically grow, no matter how close to death it seemed. SM pulled them aside one day to talk to them about it.
"Children, I told you before that you are children of the gods. Lacie, you are the daughter of Hephaestus, god of fire and the forge. Katie, you are the daughter of Demeter, goddess of agriculture. While this mansion is a safe place for me to educate you on controlling your abilities, there is somewhere much safer and more specified for demigods like yourselves." Lacie blinked up at SM, who she saw as more of a father figure than a mentor or master. "You mean Camp Half-Blood? That place?"
"Indeed, Lacie. Recently, Zalgo has been claiming demigods from that camp. Not only would it help you learn how to use your abilities better, it would also do us good to have a spy or two there. That way Zalgo won't be able to simply go in and out of that camp and take anyone he deems fit."
"So...you want us to go to Camp Half-Blood and...stay there? That way we can learn and Zalgo won't claim people?" Katie asked.
"Indeed." Lacie and Katie met eyes, Lacie's eyebrows creasing. "But...I don't wanna leave. I like it here. This is home." SM sighed, crouching in front of the two young girls. "You don't have to leave just yet. You may leave when you are ready."
"But I don't wanna leave at all! I wanna stay here with you, an' Brian, a-an' Emily, an'—" SM put a hand on the six-year-old's head, shushing her. "You don't have to leave, either. It is simply an option that I am giving you. I would be happy if you left, but I would also be happy if you stayed, as well. Whatever you deem fit. And even if you decide to leave to Camp Half-Blood, you will still be able to come back whenever you'd like." Lacie nodded, wiping away the tears that had started to form. Katie, on the other hand, was deep in thought.
A few days later, Katie walked down the hall, knocking on the door of SM's office and opening it. "Slendy? A-About the camp thing..." SM looked up from his work and folded his fingers together on his desk. "Come in, Katie. What would you like to ask?" Katie closed the door behind her and ran to sit on the chair in front of his desk. "I...I think I wanna go. I wanna learn more about the gods and how to fight like a Greek." SM nodded solemnly. "I understand. If you would like, you may leave at the beginning of June and stay only for the summers. There is already a proxy of Glaukos staying there, but they have said many times that they could use a bit of back-up during the summers, when the camp is full. Would that work for you?" Katie nodded.
"Do you think Lacie'll be okay with it, though? I mean, sure it's only for summers, but...we've never been apart before."
"I'm sure she will understand. She's quite bright for a six-year-old. Either way, she now has quite a few siblings that will help her through the summers without you. You need not worry about her."
At the beginning of June, Katie had her bags packed, and SM teleported her over to the forest the camp resided in. He gave her a set of rules to follow, such as "Don't tell anyone about the proxy world" and "Don't let them know where you're from.'' Once that was all said and done, Katie hugged her father figure, and ran off down the trail to camp.
May 10, 2007
An eleven-year-old ran into the forest, hands stained red. Lacie ran over, shouting, "Hey! Wait up!" She stopped in front of him, gasping for breath. "Glad that you came to the forest without me needing to direct you. I'm Lacie! What's your name?"
"Uhh..." He stared at her, confusion written across his face. "T-Timothy Sutton."
"Good to meet you! C'mon, I can take you to our headquarters! It's run by Slendy, a tall, faceless man who wants to protect people like us from Zalgo's possession!" Timothy backed away. "Y-You're joking, right? H-How are you so calm? I just killed my parents, and—" He froze, the reality of it all sinking in. "Oh god...I-I killed my parents." His voice shook, tears forming in his eyes. Lacie looked up at him, worried. "I-I don't even know what came over me. I-I just did it, and...oh god."
"That's...I'm sorry. Come on, I can take you somewhere where you'll be safe." Timothy wiped away the tears threatening to spill and nodded. Lacie took his hand and fiddled with her watch. The blue mist appeared, then disappeared, and she led him over to the clearing. The mansion appeared, and she led him in. Timothy Sutton was the sixth.

Fifteen-year-old Merida Knowles nervously knocked on fifteen-year-old Emily Underhill's door. They had been waiting for a time to confess to her. They had gone to everyone asking what she thought of them, and everyone had begged them to just confess and get the mutual pining to just stop already. They had even gone to SM, who, while he didn't say anything that pointed either way, had sounded very sly in his answer of "Merida, you know that I prefer to stay out of my proxies' business when it comes to love and match-making." So they took that as a sign. The door opened. "Oh, hey, Merry. Good to see you aren't sleeping 'til noon again." Merida laughed, trying to stop themself from going full-on gay mode as they studied her brown almost pixie cut with blonde highlights, her ocean blue eyes, big lips with some nude lipstick on, and—
They blinked, looking down at the ground. "I, uhh...just wanted to say happy birthday. Here," They brought out a CD and handed it to Emily, "it's the newest Panic! at the Disco album. I thought you'd like it." Emily gasped, smiling excitedly. "You got it for me? Aw, thank you, Merry! I love it!" She then hugged Merida. Butterflies erupted in both of their stomachs. "N-No problem, Ems. I was also wondering if you m-maybe wanna go on a walk together?"
"O-Of course! Sounds good!" Emily quickly put the album away on her desk, then walked over and linked hands with Merida. They felt their face go red, looking away quickly, not seeing how red Emily's was as well. As they walked through the living room, Lacie grinned, whispering excitedly to Brian, who simply rolled their eyes at her. Merida and Emily decided to ignore them.
They had been walking and talking for about half an hour now, and had decided to stop at their favorite spot, a small pond not too far from the mansion. They were sitting at the edge, looking out at the water, when Merida chose to bring it up. "Hey, Ems? Could I tell you something?"
"You have a crush on me?" Emily smiled slyly. Merida's heart stopped. "I-I, uh...yeah. How did you know?"
"You made it pretty obvious. I mean, come on, Merry, you're staring at me all the time. How could I not notice?"
Merida's cheeks went red. "I thought I was being subtle." Emily laughed, scooting a bit closer to them. "I guess I'm better at being subtle than you." She put a hand on theirs, smiling at them. "Merida, do you wanna be my, uh...boyfriend? Girlfriend? Whatever you prefer?" Merida smiled back, laughing a bit as red burned at their face. "I'd love to be your boygirlfriend."
She laughed, before saying nervously, "Then...can I kiss you?" Their breath stopped as they nodded nervously. Emily licked her lips, before coming even closer, and delivering a gentle kiss onto their boygirlfriend's lips. And then they were one.

A twelve-year-old came out of the blue mist with Timothy. Tim led him into the mansion, where everyone stopped for a moment and stared, wide-eyed. "Holy...wow, you look cool." The boy looked down at his shoes, trying to hide his face. "What's your name?" Emily asked. Merida smirked, shoving Emily playfully. "Ems, can't you see he's nervous?" They turned to the boy. "Ignore this idiot over here. You don't have to answer if you don't want to." Tim put a hand on his back. "He can't speak, but his name is Ermolai Stone. Hoodie, you'll have to teach him sign language." Brian nodded, looking Ermolai up and down. With that, Tim took him to SM. Ermolai Stone was the seventh.
October 10, 2009
A twelve-year-old ran away from the fire and the sounds of police sirens. Lacie followed him, saying, "Come on! I can take you to—" She wasn't able to get much farther as he passed out. Lacie gulped, crouching next to him. The sirens were getting closer. She wrapped one of his arms around her neck and fiddled with her watch. The blue mist appeared, then disappeared, taking her to the right reality. She stood up and pulled out her phone, calling Tim and asking for help getting him to the mansion.
The boy woke up in a soft bed, blankets covering his body and an ice pack on his head. He groaned, opening his eyes. Tim was sitting next to him, reading a book. "Ah, you’re awake. We were starting to worry." He stood up and took the ice pack off the boy's head, studying him for a moment. "Your name is Tobias Rogers, correct?"
"Tobias is a weird name, don't ya think? I like Toby. Toby's a good name." Tim blinked, staring down at Toby. "Uh...Toby it is, then?" Toby smiled. "Good to meet ya!" As he spoke, he felt something weird about his cheek. "Yeah, you, uh...seem to have bit through your cheek while you were running from the cops? I'm honestly surprised you didn't scream out in pain and give away your location."
"Yeah, CIPA does that. Didn't feel a thing." He looked around the room, taking in the emptiness of it. "So...where am I?"
"We'll have our leader explain everything to you. Can you stand?" Toby pulled off the blankets and stood, shrugging. "Everything seems fine to me." He stretched, a few ticks moving through his arms as a curse flew out of his mouth. Tim furrowed his eyebrows. "Do you...even remember what happened last week?" Toby gulped, memories of killing his father, and the look of horror on his mom's face, flooding through his mind. He bit at his tongue, only stopping when he tasted a bit of blood. "I don't regret it if that's what you mean. My dad was a piece of shit, and I'm glad he's dead." He went silent. "I just wish my mom hadn't seen." He mumbled. Tim nodded. "Well...we all have things we regret. Come on, I'll introduce you to our leader." Tim led Toby down the staircase. Toby Rogers was the eighth.
October 20, 2009
A fourteen-year-old was pulled into the mansion, kicking and yelling profanities, being held tightly by Tim and Brian. "Emily! We could use some help!" Tim shouted through the house. Emily rushed down the stairs, followed quickly by Merida. "What's going on?"
"He's insane, that's what’s going on! You can help him, right?" Emily gulped.
"I-I've only really done small cases of insanity. You know, like Toby or Brian."
"Hey!" Toby whined from the kitchen. "I wasn't insane! Not like this guy, that's for damn sure."
"Shut up, Toby!" Tim said, before getting head-butt in the nose. "Just try, Emily!" Emily winced, creeping closer to the teen. She put a hand on his head and concentrated while Brian tried their best to hold his head steady. Slowly, the kicking stopped, and the teen went silent, eyes rolled back in his head, unconscious. Toby peeked out to look at him. He whistled. "Can I draw on his face now that he's asleep?"
"Toby, just go to your room."
"I don't wanna!"
"Well, good to see he's settling in fine." Brian muttered under their breath as they placed the teen on the couch. Merida leaned over, studying the teen. "Geez, what happened to his face? Was he tortured or something?" Tim sighed, studying the chelsea smile carved into his face. "Zalgo must have taken his time with him. Had him go completely insane this time. Then this guy killed his parents, tried to kill his siblings, then went on a killing spree afterwards."
"No wonder he was goin' all cuckoo like that!" Toby stated, leaning over the couch and watching the teen curiously. SM came over right as a groan came from the teen's lips. "W-What happened?" He mumbled, blinking slowly. "How are you feeling?" SM asked.
"Uh..." His eyes widened as he stared up at SM. "What the fuck?" He sat up quickly and scooted away.
"Uh oh, language." Merida muttered to Emily, causing her to giggle. The teen watched everyone around him warily, pulling out a switchblade from his pocket. "Who are you? Where am I?" The switchblade suddenly went flying in the air, floating right in front of Ermolai. "Can I keep this? It looks cool." He signed.
"Go ahead." Brian signed back.
"What the hell is going on?" The teen asked, eyes wide as he stared at the floating blade.
"Uh oh, that’s two dimes in the swear jar." Emily snorted at Merida's muttering.
"Your name is Jeffery Woods, correct?"
"H-How did you—"
"If you would just come with me into my office, I'll explain everything." Jeff studied SM for a moment, before standing up and following him. Jeff Woods was the ninth.
March 21, 2010
A thirteen-year-old walked into the mansion with Jeff. "Guys! I brought that girl here like you wanted me to!" Everyone turned to look at the teen. He had dark blue eyes and raven hair that had been very clearly chopped off into a bob with a knife. Emily stood up and ran over to him. "Heya! The name's Emily! Great to meet ya, Helen!" Merida ran over and introduced themself as well. Everyone else came over to introduce themselves, before SM came and said, "Children, please give him some space. This is likely quite overwhelming for him." The teen's eyes widened, and his heart stopped. "Him? Oh...OH!" Merida's eyes widened, and they wrapped an arm around the teen's shoulders. "Dude, welcome to trans team! We got all kinds of peeps!" The teen winced, curling away from their arm. "Merida, that is quite enough. He clearly is not comfortable with being touched. Come, we may talk in my office." The teen nervously walked through the small crowd, following SM down the hall. "S-Sir? Could I just ask something?"
"Be my guest." The teen gulped. "How did you know? I've only ever told one person, and he..." He trailed off, looking down at his shoes. SM sat at his desk, studying the teen for a moment, before saying, "Demons are able to see into a person's soul. As such, we know what they prefer to be called, how they are feeling, and even small things such as their name or who they are attracted to, even if the person may not know themselves. I typically prefer to tell my proxies what pronouns they prefer, and have them figure out how they truly identify themselves. I can tell you already have it figured out, however." The teen nodded. "You would prefer we call you BP, correct?" BP nodded. "Th-That would be nice." SM nodded.
"Understood." BP Otis was the tenth.
August 5, 2010
A sixteen-year-old riding a giant bronze dragon fell from the sky in front of the mansion. Lacie's eyes widened as she stared at it, before she laughed excitedly and took off towards it. "Hey! Lace! Don't just run towards it!" Emily shouted, running after her, with Merida chasing after. The teen groaned, crawling out from under scraps of metal, his forehead cut and bleeding. He had curly brown hair and light brown skin, covered in cuts and bruises. "Oh, gods, are you okay?" Merida asked, carefully lifting up some of the metal and having Emily pull him out. The teen coughed. "Never been better." Lacie studied the dragon, hopping with excitement. "I'm gonna try and piece it back together! You take him inside and heal him up!"
"Piece it back together...wait! Be careful with Festus, okay? Make sure he doesn't get hurt!" The teen said, a pleading look in his eyes as he looked down at Lacie. Lacie nodded as if she was given a mission by the president himself. Merida and Emily helped him up, carrying him inside. "Tim! Grab the first aid kit!" Tim nodded and raced to the bathroom as the two set the teen on the kitchen counter. SM came out of his office and took the kit from Tim as he ran back out. "Allow me to heal him, Emily." Emily and Merida obediently stepped aside. Leo looked up at SM, his eyes widening. "Holy Hephaestus!" He shouted, pulling out a hammer from his toolbelt and lighting it on fire. "Calm yourself, Leo Valdez. I am not going to hurt you."
"Look man, I've dealt with enough monsters already, alright? I literally just died and came back to life."
"I understand, Leo. Please, put your hammer down." Leo raised his hammer to swing, but yelped and dropped it as he felt a badly-placed cut begin to open even more. SM slowly pulled out some gauze and began cleaning the blood from Leo's cuts as he explained the proxy world to him. Leo Valdez was the eleventh.

Seventeen-year-old Emily Underhill was walking down the hall early that morning, having just gotten up. She decided to let Merida sleep in instead of waking them up herself. As she passed SM's office, she overheard him talking to another demon. By their voice, it was clearly Aka Manah. "Are you sure it's a good idea to keep Underhill here?" Emily froze at her name, beginning to listen in. "I am certain, Ekale. So long as she doesn't find out, she will be fine."
"Are you sure? What if one of our siblings isn't aware that she's the one they have to worry about? I know you care about your proxies, and I care about mine too, but seriously, she's a bit too dangerous even for you."
"I know what I am doing, Ekale. Just because she has a dangerous ability such as this doesn't mean that she will use it against us. And so long as our siblings keep her in mind, she will not get claimed by any of them even if she does turn against us." Emily's eyes widened. What did that mean? Did that mean she could get claimed by multiple demons? She had a whole other ability that SM hadn't told her about, not trusting her with the knowledge, in fear that she'll turn against him. She felt almost betrayed. She thought SM would tell her about anything she could do to help. He had told her about how she could cure people's madness, and that proved to be a big help to the group. Why didn't SM tell her about this? With this new ability, she could actually be helpful in a battle. Then she realized.
SM was scared of her. All of the demons were scared of her.
She never asked SM about it, and decided not to try and find a way to use it. Not yet, at least. But, Emily was curious.
March 31, 2011
A fifteen-year-old floated into the mansion behind BP. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared. "A possessed human, huh? Haven't seen one of you guys in a while." Merida spoke, finishing off washing the dishes and handing them off to Emily. "It's good to meet you, too." The possessed teen spoke sarcastically. Emily laughed. "Sorry about them. When they wanna be, they're pretty up-front with stuff." Merida shoved her playfully, before walking over to the teen. "So what's your name? I'm Merida."
"I just go by Puppeteer." He hummed. BP walked over to Emily, whispering into her ear, "You might want to get rid of his insanity. He had some trouble controlling his demon when we first met. Almost killed me, actually." Emily nodded, walking up to Puppeteer and putting a hand on his forehead. "Um, excuse me, what the fu—" He then dropped onto the ground, clutching onto the wall to stay standing. "That should do the trick! Sorry about that, Pup! I just had to make sure you'll be able to control your demon!" He groaned, standing upright. "I feel...weird."
"Understandable. My power kinda does that to people." BP had already gone up to his room to draw, so Merida led Puppeteer down the hall to SM's office. "So...that BP guy...is he gay?"
"Uh...yeah? Why do you ask?"
"No reason." Merida blinked up at him, then smirked. "No reason, you say?" They felt his glare on them. "I could still kill you, you know."
They shrugged. "I'd come back." Merida opened SM's office door and let Puppeteer in, then left SM to explain to him. Puppeteer was the twelfth.
April 6, 2011
Eighteen-year-old Emily Underhill was curious. What she had heard was beginning to drive her insane. She had to know what would happen if she tried getting claimed by another demon. How to do it was another question. It wasn't until the day where Toby had used one of Leo's newest inventions in a prank that she got the idea.
She walked over to the cave nearby where the forge was kept. She had made sure Lacie was in the house with Katie before heading over. She wanted to catch Leo alone. She got to the mouth of the cave and whistled. "Heya, Leo! How's it going?" He looked up from his invention, pulling a welding mask off his face. "Oh, hey, Ems! What're you doin' here?" Emily walked into the cave, looking around at all the high-tech mechanics inside. "Just wanted to ask you for something." Leo pulled the welding mask back on, continuing his project. "Hit me."
"Do you think I could borrow that thingamajig you made? The one Toby used a few days ago?"
"You mean my Valdezatron 5000?" He reached his hand into his toolbelt, pulling out a bracelet of Celestial Bronze. "Exactly. I wanna pull a prank on a friend of mine from another group." Leo snickered mischievously.
"Sure thing." He handed it over, before saying, "Just don't lose it, alright? It's my first copy and I never make blueprints."
"That...sounds like a bad idea." He smirked. "Blueprints take the fun outta inventing, you know? Stream of consciousness style is more fun." She giggled. "Fair enough. Thanks, Pyro!" With that, she ran out to test her theory.
The bracelet disguised her proxy aura and made her look like a completely different person. She walked up to a friend of hers, a proxy of Thoth, and said, "E-Excuse me? I'm trying to find the demon Thoth. I heard he could help me get away from...everything. Do you know where he is?" Her friend saw her as a different person. She was led to Thoth and his proxies' home, and taken directly to the demon. Thoth, thinking nothing of it, simply told her what it meant to be a proxy, things that she already knew. She held out her hand, and was claimed a second time. Thoth's Mark appeared on her hand, a numbing feeling crawling up her arm. It felt weird, but she hid it easily. She thanked Thoth, then was led to her new room in the palace.
Meanwhile, SM was scolding Leo for allowing Emily to leave with his device, while Leo was trying to say that it would be fine. With a bit of reluctance, SM explained to his proxies what her second ability was, how she was a Peculiar with the ability to be claimed by multiple demons at once. How she could become as strong as a god. At this Leo paled, eyes wide. He knew just how dangerous gods could really be. "Sh-She'd use that power to help us! I know she will!" Merida spoke, smiling nervously. SM rubbed his chin, thinking. "We can only hope."
When Emily came back, she was greeted with nervous and hopeful glances. "Ems! It's so good to see you again!" Merida exclaimed, throwing their arms around her. Emily smiled, hugging them back. "It's good to see you too, Merry." When they pulled away, Merida grabbed Emily's hand and studied it. Their expression dropped. "So you did get claimed again." They spoke lightly, softly. I gulped. "Did SM tell you guys?" Brian was coming out of the office with their demon leader. "I did indeed. Emily, I can understand your curiosity but please, don't get claimed a third time. We don't know what it could do to you."
"But...SM! This could really help us fight Zalgo! I won't use it against you, I promise!" SM looked at the ground in thought. "Like I said, we don't know what this could do to you. You could go power-hungry, or even insane with this, Emily. Please don't get claimed again. I beg you." Emily's shoulders drooped. "I...I won't sir."
"...Thank you. Give Leo back his device, and you are excused." She handed it back, and Merida linked hands with her, bringing her upstairs to their room. But Emily was still curious.
May 15, 2011
A fifteen- and sixteen-year-old walked into the mansion behind Brian. The fifteen-year-old was a girl with long brown hair, holding a white cane, one used by the blind. The sixteen-year-old was a possessed human, with light grey skin, auburn hair, and empty eye sockets filled and leaking with a tar-like substance. "Oh, hey! Good to meet you guys! What're your names?" Merida spoke, smiling at the two of them. "Oh, hi!" The girl smiled, waving in their direction. "I'm Brooklyn Franches."
"Jack." The boy spoke quietly. Emily walked over to them, holding out a hand. "This might feel kinda weird, but SM makes me, so—" Jack pulled out a scalpel, his glare piercing into Emily's soul. "Uh...that's not necessary, you know." She laughed nervously.
"What were you planning to do?" Brooklyn sighed, smirking a bit. "You pulled the scalpel on her, didn't you? Put it down, she's probably not gonna hurt you." Jack watched Emily warily, not putting away his scalpel. Emily groaned, holding a hand out. The scalpel flew out of Jack's hand and into hers, and she quickly reached up to his forehead and took his madness. He stumbled, clutching his head once she had stepped away to put the scalpel on the kitchen counter. All the proxies in the room were staring wide-eyed. Merida cleared their throat nervously. "Uh...follow me! I can bring you to SM!" Jack Nicole and Brooklyn Franches were the thirteenth and fourteenth.
May 15, 2011
Eighteen-year-old Emily Underhill lied awake that night. It was so easy for her to take Jack's scalpel out of his hand. She was significantly faster than she used to be as well. She hadn't tried anything involving her new proxy of Thoth powers since SM scolded her. But seeing that display...she wanted more.
May 17, 2011
Eighteen-year-old Emily Underhill stood in front of her boygirlfriend's door. She opened it, sending a smile at them. They returned the smile, putting in their hearing aids and slipping on their boots. "Wanna go for a walk, Ems?"
"Sure thing, Merry." The two walked hand-in-hand down the hallway and out the door. A few minutes into their walk, Emily spoke.
"I've been thinking, Merida." They hummed, looking over to their girlfriend. "The proxy world...and the godly world are pretty cruel, don't you think?"
"I mean, in some ways, yeah."
"I mean, children shouldn't have to fight for their lives. Yet the gods and demons make them. They make us fight for them, when they're so much more powerful than us. That's just not fair, right?" Merida sighed. "We were born into this life. Demons like SM treat us like equals, Emily. It's not like the demons not being here would make our lives a whole lot better."
"...How do you know?" Merida gulped, slowing to a stop in front of the lake they first confessed at. "Think about it. We fight for our lives because the demons had an argument a couple hundred years ago and one doesn't want to agree with the rest! If demons didn't exist in the first place, they wouldn't be here to have that argument. And if demons didn't exist, then Namaal wouldn't have had to be chained up to prevent him from taking over the realities because he wouldn't exist in the first place!"
"There's nothing we can do about the past, Emily. Demons and gods exist, and we have to make the best out of that situation. And honestly? I like what we have here." Emily sighed. "But we don't have any real freedom. Sure we can join the mortal world and try and live normally but monsters will always come after us. And the demons will always be pulling us back into the proxy world to do odd jobs for them. There's no escape." Merida looked down at the ground. "I'm fine with that. It's how I've lived in all my past lives. Or at least the ones I remember. I'm happy with that. And I remember trying. Many times way back when. Trying to avoid being a proxy is only more dangerous. Please, just try to be happy with this. I...I honestly don't understand how you aren't satisfied with this." Emily thought for a moment, then smiled.
"I am. So long as you trust me." She stepped forward and embraced them tightly. "I love you."
"I love you, too."
June 1, 2011
Eighteen-year-old Emily Underhill walked over to Merida Knowles's bedroom, knocking and opening the door. "Merry? Could you do something for me?" Merida sat up in bed, taking their headphones off. "I'd do anything for you, Ems." Emily closed the door, sitting next to Merida.
"Could you get Leo's bracelet for me?" Merida's eyes widened, eyebrows creasing in exasperation. "Emily, come on. Not this again, please."
"I had a vision last night." She lied. "It was the mansion. We were being attacked. We'll need as much power as we can get, and I think this could really help." Merida bit their lips. "Did you really have a vision?"
"I'm sure of it." Emily placed her hands over theirs. "You trust me, don't you Merida?" They looked down at the ground, before nodding and standing up. "I do. I-I'll do it." They smiled, before kissing their girlfriend on the lips. "Meet me by the lake, okay?" Emily nodded, kissing them back.
The lake was a beautiful deep shade of blue. It was the cleanest lake you could find, as the proxies of Slenderman often used it as a swimming pool whenever they were lucky enough for it to be warm enough. Today wasn't one of those lucky days. The air was cold and crisp, and by the look of the clouds, it would likely start to rain in the next hour. Merida ran over, holding the bracelet in their hand. Emily smiled. "Thank you, Merry! Thank you so much!" She went to grab it, but Merida stepped away. "Hang on. Why do you really want this?" Emily's smile dropped. "I told you earlier. I got a vision. I wanna protect our home."
"Do you really?" Merida stared into her soul. Emily faltered.
"Fine. No, I don't. You didn't convince me last time. I'm not satisfied with this. We're just..." Her eyes widened. "Pawns! We're just pawns in these demons' game. Eventually one side will win, but what'll it cost? How many people are going to die for them?" Merida shook their head.
"Emily, what we have is good. We found a place where we're accepted. Not many places, or at least not many that I know of, would allow us to just walk around and be ourselves in public. Please, just...give me some time and hear me out. I'm gonna return this to Leo, we can head back inside, and just talk. Okay?" Emily looked at the ground, nodding. "Okay." Merida turned around. "Hey, Merry, wait." They turned back around, and Emily closed the distance between them, placing a kiss on their lips, not leaving. Merida kissed back, unaware of the knife being pulled from Emily's belt. When they pulled away, Emily spoke. "I love you, Merry." Merida hugged Emily tightly, unaware of the knife behind their back.
"I love you too, Ems."
The knife slipped through their ribs. Blood spilled out of the wound. Merida coughed up blood, the knife having slit through their lungs. Just like that, they fell limp. Dead. Emily simply picked up the bracelet, sheathed her knife, and walked away. And then there was one.
Their siblings found their body. They wept. They grieved. They punched the wall in anger. Emily was nowhere in sight. All she had left behind was a note, with words written out in Demon.
"O worr glaelea e cliut wjala wa worr socjle ef ima. Umolete."
"I will create a group where we will fight as one. Unity."
SM understood what she meant. He had Katie come home early from camp. SM had all of his proxies pray to Hades, asking him to take mercy on them, and help them find a new place to stay. He did, a bit surprised that they were praying to him of all gods. He found them somewhere underground, somewhere far away from their original home, where they could stay without fear of the newly-named Umolete finding them. They promised to give him offerings whenever they could for his kindness, and he agreed to help whenever they needed it, as well as to keep their existence hidden from the gods. The proxies gave Merida a Proxy's funeral. They each said something about them, chanted a prayer in Demon that they would be born into a happy family in their next life, then said their goodbyes. SM cut open his hand and covered their body in black blood, which slowly melted down their body into the ground. Lacie put down a grave where they lay, and they all walked back into their home in silence.
The next few days consisted of them packing their bags and emptying out the mansion, bringing their belongings to their new home, a multi-story building several feet below ground, in the US instead of Canada. It was all the way across the country from Camp Half-Blood, but at least it was safe, and had several security measures, courtesy of Leo and Lacie. Leo had been silent ever since he had found Merida dead, an unsettling change. Lacie hadn't stopped working.
June 10, 2011
The proxies of Slenderman finished moving everything they had into the new location. Now all that was left was burning the evidence that the mansion had ever existed. SM had told them with a broken heart that this is what they had to do. Several proxies had protested, but Leo and Lacie were the ones who knew they had to do it. Lacie stood in front of the mansion. The building she had called home for all eleven years of her life.
She created a ball of fire in her hand.
"L-Lacie, wait! Not yet!" Leo stuttered, grabbing her arm. Lacie pulled away. "We both knew this was coming, Leo. Come on." She came closer, walking past Merida's grave, forcing herself not to look at it. Leo's body shook, tears flooding into his eyes.
He created a ball of fire in his hand, then went to join his sister.
She looked over to him, then reached over and grabbed his hand. His grip tightened, and he looked down at the ground, tears falling down his cheeks.
The fire burned hot and heavy as it blasted from their palms, gnawing away at the wood of the mansion and destroying the place they called home. The proxies and their leader stared as the fire grew more and more for two long hours, SM making sure it didn't spread any farther than the clearing. Once their home was fully burnt down and nothing but a smoldering pile of burnt wood, ashes, and embers remained, Lacie collapsed. She sobbed, screaming out, clutching at piles of ashes and sobbing into them. Leo dropped down next to her, staring in silence at the black circle of ash. He thought about when he was a child, when he accidentally burned down his mother's mechanics shop, with her inside. His eyes watered again, tears running down his cheeks as he whimpered, choked, and wept. Their siblings behind them broke down as well, some collapsing to the ground and sobbing, others simply staring down in silence, lips quivering and breath shaking. SM looked down at the ground, then slowly approached the two children of Hephaestus. He crouched next to them.
Lacie immediately ran into his arms. After a moment's hesitation Leo did as well. He sighed, running his hands through their hair. Silent, unable to find any words to encourage or comfort them. He picked them both up, and carried them over to their fellow proxies. "Come, children. I...I understand your mourning. But it's time to move on. We have a future ahead of us. And hopefully..." He looked over at Merida's grave. The fourth time he's had to bury them. He took a deep breath, forcing his mind out of that space. "Hopefully we can build a world where no one will repeat what has happened. For now, let's rest. We have a new home, and new memories, awaiting us."
The proxies still standing helped up those still sobbing. Brian sobbing into Tim's shoulder, Brooklyn sobbing into Jack's, BP sobbing into Puppeteer's, and Jeff even allowing Toby to weep into his. Katie stood in silence, crying silently to herself. Ermolai walked silently over to her, leaning against her and hugging her with one arm and signing to her with his other. Slowly, they all made their way to SM and crowded around him. He made sure they were all ready, then teleported them to their new home. A new home, with new proxies, and new memories to be had.
