I joined the hobby with my sister in early 2003. We both got our first dolls at the same time but I hated my doll (she arrived blank) and I decided to not join the hobby because I hated the doll so much. My sister stayed active, but passed away in 2016, in which I got my first doll back when they were passing the inheritance and arranging everything. That was my reintroduction into the doll hobby, to connect with my sister in a way.

Enjoyed making friends with people in the community, generally found the community peaceful and positive. I liked playing and taking pictures of my dolls and was interested in trying OC and the biographies people posted because it looked fun.

in 2022 the rest of my family passed away in a car crash. Its been difficult for me to accept this and I keep going into states of "if this" or "if that", and I tried to connect to the hobby but I couldnt escape reality. It didnt help that my fathers side of the family were relentlessly trying to put a conservatorship on me, have me put in a mental hospital and seize control of me, my assets and finances forcing me to go to a psychiatrist and take medication just so I can have freedom and avoid them.

I decide to try and cheer myself by going to a doll event on holiday and get a chance on a doll that is coveted by a niche in the community, as in limited to a few dolls a year that you can only get in person in a certain location on certain dates by a lottery. This is a doll Ive been obsessed with getting, having won two YJA auctions for her (you arent supposed to buy them secondhand or sell them), only to have the sellers always refund the proxy. I won this doll, on my first lottery entry and I feel nothing.

I met two people and one was extremely kind, and the other that I thought I had a connection with was just disappointing to meet in person. Gossiping about people the whole time, including the person that was also there with us, always talking about why they were better than so and so because they did x. Talked about entering the lottery many times but always losing and not to get my hopes up because they dont pick nonresident foreigners. She also suggested I bring in someone to increase my chances, but I said I wanted to play fair and she shocked me when she said good answer; like it was a trick suggestion or she was waiting for an aha moment.

The pure anger on her face when I was called the winner, and then the comment about them picking the lottery winner like I was supposed to feel bad that I was picked instead of randomly chosen was weird to me. I just brushed it off as me being paranoid. Its not jealousy of the doll, but I think anger that they picked someone she saw as unworthy (me). She even called me a whale, but I just ignored the comment because I know Im not even remotely chubby back then.

Then she said something about how maybe this was the universe giving me a present because my whole family passed away a few months ago (at that time). This was the first time I told someone in the hobby about my familys passing and I felt completely emptied? deflated? by the comment. They may have not meant it to be negative, but I felt repulsed. TBH, I havent even taken the doll out of the box since getting her because I keep remembering that comment made. They probably didnt mean much, but it stuck to me. I cant even look at the doll's box without feeling sick. I just remembered this because its been a year + and I saw someone being annoyed that a oneoff winner didnt post an opening even though its been a few months, and now I feel worse because its been a year of her in the box.I was just waiting until I felt happy again so I can at least have the box opening be special. I dont know what to do because that comment; the universe giving me a doll in return of my whole family dying? I cant disassociate it and I wish I never met that person because I feel like it has made the doll hobby unenjoyable to me, but I also know its unreasonable to think this way because Ive met so many that are so nice and kind. I think Im reading into the comment more than its worth. I honestly feel pathetic for letting it affect me this much.

Sorry for writing all of this. I just wanted to get it out of my chest so I can maybe get back to normal. My friends dont like listening to this, because Im a man and am supposed to be more mature, and I also dont like holding on to anger, and I dont usually do, but I feel angry and sad all the time, when I know I should be grateful because I have a lot of blessings. Some might know who I am, and I hope they dont take it as a sign of me needing help, and more of just me venting if they read all of this, that my disinterest in a lot of things isnt them, its just Im not back to normal and I want to be.

wind velez- the wonderful oc owned by @oh-so-youre-a-nerd- is at the center of it all (hence the title into the windverse). their story is a reimagining of events following the end of book 1 of laws of attraction + incorporates characters from other choices stories (ex. crimes of passion, it lives anthology)

why do this at all? well it essentially boils down to us thinking martin deserved a better portrayal than what he got in book 2. gabe, a senior partner, being able to easily leave mcgraw byrne and essentially run them into the ground with his new startup also made no sense to me personally. (the actual case surrounding book 2 w/ the conservatorship scheme was p interesting tho, imo)

anyways...

sadie's untimely "retirement" from the firm leaves everyone else up to their necks in casework. that's where @saibug1022's oc, magnus bishop, comes in. he is mcgraw byrne's latest hire (recommended by wind)- along with joaquin morales (recommended by martin)- both brought in essentially to ease the burden on the rest of the staff

while mcgraw byrne attempts to stay afloat under the less than stellar leadership of eli byrne- there's another competitor surfacing. old friends turned rivals who've patiently waited for the day the great sadie mcgraw falls: agnes park and jina davis aka the founding partners of park & davis. and with them- is my blorbo, enid mendoza.

there's a lot left to be told; betrayals to uncover, traumas to unearth, romances to blossom, merges to be made~ it's all very exciting (to us at least lol)

(here's the ask game post. i have done 1, 3, 14, 19 for kimon and 18 & 19 for vaal so far!)

1. What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)? 

tess is a late addition that came in when i was playing around with group dynamics and tropes. i knew before that that i wanted a giant in the main cast. i also wanted someone a bit more upper class for contrast, and most of the Old Families in the city are giants because it was originally a giant city. and for the trope stuff, i didn't have anyone who outwardly matched The Heart trope stereotype (including being someone feminine). so tess started out as the idea to have a giant princess. 

2. Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind? 

yes, i created them with the rest of the six in mind. they're someone who can match leskel’s status and go against him on the court of high society.* with kimon and vaal, she catches on to their shady past and has both the motivation and the means to start digging — and then later to vouch for them. (and they were also created to be part of a medical case for kimon to solve, naturally.) arin and her i created to work together rather superficially, as in she's rich enough to have commissioned stuff from them. 

the first and biggest thing in my mind tho was to create a butch/femme pair with her and sam. 

*(i don't know how else to put this in short. the city doesn't actually exactly have a victorian high society. but you get the vibe.)

4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts? 

thing is, her backstory is a work in progress still. currently the most influential parts are like, societal and legal matters. she's under an unjust conservatorship of sorts so that an opportunistic relative can use her vote on a council of sorts, and access her resources. she also lost her immediate family to an illness she suspects to have something more to it. (it does. horror levels of more. if you've heard me talk about wandering corpse piles, that's related.) up in the air but likely that she will enter the narrative when someone close to her seems to have caught the same disease but the family doctor and the conservator dismiss her as delusional.

also, being a giant and growing up in that culture. 

8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story? 

being sharp and knowledgeable but hindered by lack of experience and a living situation that is counterproductive for getting more of it. i’m also piling all my more autistic-coded traits on her, mainly a tendency for formalism, and the “oh shit i missed this whole aspect that changes the meaning of this thing.” and we definitely share a frustration with obviously inefficient or counterproductive things and the Need To Fix. 

11. Did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation? 

yup! they're a femme lesbian. and i first planned for her to end up in a relationship with sam, but we’ll see how it goes once i actually get around to writing their story.

14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be? 

the gilded cage. she has been sheltered her whole life, controlled for a latter part of it, and it would have eaten her alive if she didn't have such a blaze of passion and determination inside her. she will break out and she will change the world if that's what it takes. but because she's been sheltered, she has a very abstract idea of freedom, and what she wants to do with it. also, she's so focused on breaking free, she tends to have tunnel vision. 

in a way they are the emotional core, first to cry and compassionate, but their compassion is driven by a sense of justice and duty that stems from their culture. love as dutiful devotion and service. but because they feel so deeply, they are also prone to harsh judgment and black and white thinking.

Polly doesn't really have time for real hobbies, but when she can, she likes to spend her brief free time hanging out with her girlfriend, and doing the things she likes to do.

She loves to make people happy, and talking to her friends! She hates being on camera or in front of a large audience, which her job necessitates.

🍎 - What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like?

Bad? Bad. She's under a conservatorship, given they essentially sold her personhood to a company for profit. She doesn't really talk to them anymore, when she can help it, even though they make a lot of business decisions for her.

Bodyguard AU (very loosely based on the Whitney Houston film) Former agent Elim Garak is (reluctantly) hired as bodyguard to a Alpha Quadrant rising  (tennis? pop? dance? film? ) star Julian Bashir. Someone is stalking/ sending threatening letters to Bashir (can be Sloan, or an OC) and Garak is convinced the young celebrity's manager, Richard Bashir, is involved in some shady backroom deals. Bashir's also hiding a secret: he was augmented as a child by his avaricious father and groomed as a child star (how dark you want to make this is up to you); we can even draw in Jack, Lauren and Sarina as former augmented child stars who were later institutionalized while their families pocketed all their money (think Britney Spears' conservatorship). Requisite scenes of Garak being bewitched by Bashir's beauty etc. They form a bond, start falling in love, shit hits the fan re: Sloan/ Richard Bashir's criminal activities. Garak takes Bashir to a safehouse on Cardassia for a short stint and it's very idyllic; Bashir meets Mila etc. Pining and angst and UST, with an eventual happy ending <3 — @irresistible-revolution

Hi! I want to create an oc with DID. Do you think I need to use a celebrity with DID? And if the answer is yes can you help me with a faceclaim that can pass for someone that's about 20 years? Thank you so much!

Hi! I don't live with DID, so I wouldn't be the best person to ask about this, but I know for rp when it comes to mental health issues I *do* live with I don't necessarily need to cast people who also live with these issues. For multiple reasons, including a big one: we shouldn't force celebrities to be open about their trauma. Especially when things like conservatorships have stripped the rights away of so many people (usually women) who have been open with even their families about their mental health.

I know there used to be an RPH run by a system, but I don't think they're active anymore. I tried searching my own blog to see if I could find the resources they'd written that I'd reblogged but I can't find it, unfortunately.

ANOTHER EDIT: The rph I was thinking of is @multiplicityrpc who is no longer active. They did write something here about face claims, but only said to use one FC for your character (the body/host) if you decide to write someone with DID, though alters can/should have FCs for reference. The authors (from the Eris system, I believe all of the authors are from the same system so that’s their perspective) didn’t mention if the FC *should also* have DID, but it appears as though it isn’t something they felt they should note.

THIRD EDIT: From an anon I got after posting this "As someone who suffers with DID I would prefer that those who don't (I hate the term singlets...) do not write characters with DID. Most people completely misunderstand the disorder, especially since my disorder has become quite a "trend" lately. Things get dehumanizing very quickly."

Ida is forced to pretend in “loving” relationship with her or suffers from cruel, out-dated treatments and punishments. Her father, mother, and stepmother are unaware of the abuse as well as Dacquoise and Silvana. Ida remains quiet about the abuse because she knows that she’ll get the blame for it. Despite their conflict, Silvana is helping her father to get custody of her mother to protect her. Silvana is in a polyamorous relationship with Griffith and Maya, the son and daughter of Marco and commanders of the White Golf Pirates fleet. Silvana and Maya recently adopted a Margarfly, a large butterfly from Oz Land, an island based on Australia, named Cherub.

Michael Joseph Callahan, the 39-year-old Winchester resident who was convicted of second-degree murder after running over a California Highway Patrol sergeant in Lake Elsinore in 2019, was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison on Friday, Oct. 1,

The sentence by Riverside County Superior Court Judge Timothy F. Freer is the maximum under the law.

Callahan tearfully apologized to Steve Licon, the officer he killed, and his family, in the French Valley courtroom.

“I hope you find forgiveness in your hearts. I’m deeply sorry for the accident I caused. I know with prayers and the Lord’s guidance I will be able to honor Steve Licon,” he said.

On April 6, 2019, Callahan followed his overnight shift at the Costco in Rancho Cucamonga with a trip to Big Al’s sports bar in Ontario, where he consumed almost four 22-ounce beers with high alcohol content and three shots of tequila, prosecutors said. Co-workers who joined Callahan at the bar and witnessed his erratic behavior begged him to let someone drive him home, but he attempted the 50-mile trip himself.

At the same time, Licon, 53, was patrolling the 15 Freeway in Lake Elsinore on his motorcycle. Visitors had crowded the area to view the poppy bloom. Licon was off his bike on the right shoulder writing a speeding ticket at 4:25 p.m. when Callahan plowed into him at 65 mph, prosecutors said. Licon was pronounced dead at Inland Valley Medical Center.

Prosecutors filed the murder charge after learning that Callahan had been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol in Orange County in 2004. Case law allowed such a charge under the implied-malice theory that Callahan, whose sentence in OC included attending Mothers Against Drunk Driving meetings, had long understood the dangers of impaired driving.

Defense attorney Kerry Armstrong argued that Callahan was “exhausted” after leaving work and that his bizarre actions that day, which including inappropriate hugging of co-workers and stealing food off strangers’ plates — indicated that he was not thinking rationally enough in the moment to recognize that his impaired driving would endanger others.

The jury convicted Callahan on Aug. 27 after about six days of deliberations.

At Friday’s hearing, Licon’s wife Ann described seeing her husband’s body covered by an American flag in the hospital. “The shock that he will never be coming home was too much to bear. … He was my heart, my better half and my best friend.”

Well, it's finally time I get this thing finished.

In an effort to get word out about the fic fundraising campaign for Gazan families' fundraisers, I've decided that the best thing to do to spread the word is to... well, update a fic.

It's odd. Maito Gai was a stranger to Gaara and always would be, but he still feels the heartache of loss. Perhaps it's just Siu-lung's pain, but he hopes by attending the memorial, he can offer them both a sense of peace.

A/N: It's been a minute since my last update, but I'm so excited to say that--other than editing--this fic is done! I started a new job, so it's been difficult to keep up with editing and working on my second piece for WIPYHO, but I'm hoping to get updates for this fic out every Friday until it's no longer a WIP!

For the event, I got to work with the incredible Roarsh, who made me some truly incredible art to accompany and bring this story to life. I could not have gotten this story done without the art motivating and inspiring me. I can't wait to share each art piece that was made for this fic with everyone, and I only hope my story actually does the art justice.
