No one asked but I’m actually a HEAVY believe that Jay is actually tall af. He’s a tall lanky dude. Not taller than Zane but to me he’s TALL. (Although now that I think ab it….was there some point in the series where they said smth about him being short or were they saying smth ab their physique? Meanwhile on the other hand, Kai is THE shortest one out of the whole team, followed by Nya who is like, one cm taller lmao. They’re both the short siblings of the entire team but Nya brags about that one cm a LOT.

Ninjago Headcannons - Holiday Edition!

Wow, it's really been a while since I've done one of these, hasn't it?

Since we're heading into the end of the year (and the bulk of the holidays), I thought it might be fun to go through what everyone does during this time of year!

KAI: - Kai has a tendency to go a bit over-board when it comes to the holidays; especially the really big ones (Trying to make sure your little sister has the chase to celebrate and enjoy the holidays that you did will do that to you). - He keeps appropriate decorations everywhere they stay (even every version of the Bounty has a special "Holiday Storage Locker" aboard). - Kai might be able to cook some basic dishes and general comfort foods, but even Zane knows better than to interrupt Kai or offer help if he hasn't explicitly asked for it. - He also doesn't mess around whenever it comes to festivals and making sure that everyone

COLE: - Cole loves helping decorate with the others, and it's totally not because he can carry all of the supplies in one go mainly because he's one of the only ones who can keep Kai in check from trying do anything dumb. - He absolutely ADORES the warmth and food that just permeates the monastery during the holidays, though he typically has to put his stealth-skills into action if he doesn't want to get caught making off with a tray of goodies while Kai and Zane's backs are turned/fighting over ingredients. - The one thing that he can't stand though, is how often his dad seems to pick the absolute worst time to call him to tell him about the latest gig his group is playing (When? Tonight in about an hour of course! Kai already bought everyone tickets and has the Bounty fueled up. See you soon!)

JAY: - He's a lot like Kai in terms of celebrating the holidays (though he's more about enjoying the simplest setups rather than going all-out). - Jay can tell when Nya's about to go into all-out decorating mode, so he makes sure to distract her before Kai can get into the full swing of things... - He always makes a point to bring at least Nya with him to see his parents (and totally not because they can and will hunt them down bring the holidays to them (and also totally NOT because Kai will trade baby stories about Nya in exchange for Jay's with them).

ZANE: - When he first struck out on his own after his father's first death, Zane approached the holidays with an inquisitive detachment. Since he really didn't have any attachment to anything, he really didn't feel anything at experiencing the festivities, except for the how familiar the food seemed. - It wasn't until he met Kai and Nya that he really started to understand the whole point of what the holidays were about. Now he looks forward to them, though he makes it a point to keep Kai and Nya in check. - After he came back from the Never Realm, something in him changed: Now instead of simply looking forward to them, he's started going all-out in planning the celebrations. - Him and Kai have ended up pulling knives on each other in the kitchen more than once while cooking. In their individual defenses: They completely ruined each other's special holiday dishes...

NYA: - She's a lot like her brother when it comes to holidays. Kai might go all out, but she's (a little) more chill about it. - She can cook, and she'll sometimes help out her brother, and disarm him when anyone tries messing with his cooking before it's absolutely ready though she'll normally take care of setting up the atmosphere and making sure that all of the boxes get put away mostly so that won't kill himself trying to do everything himself. - The one thing that Nya really loves about the holidays, is how everyone makes a point to strike out and spend time with their extended families outside of the Monastery.

LLOYD: - He used to love to sit back and watch the others do their things and would just soak up the fruits of everyone's festivities. - While everyone was distracted with their preparations, he would sneak in with Cole to grab a few trays from the cooling racks. - Once he aged up though, he would start volunteering to help Nya keep Kai and Zane from going too far in the kitchen (He's take Zane while Nya would grab Kai). - While everyone else is off visiting their families, Lloyd will usually stick around with Kai and Nya, or Cole or even Zane (mostly because Wu is busy meditating, and his mother's usually off on another dig).

anyway, this is for my AU of Ninjago, Echoes of the Echoed. The timeline is set to be between Crystalized (s16) and Dragons Rising Season 1. So there shouldn't be any spoilers?

this is just a bunch of random hcs I have for the ninja (and Hanna) in my AU. some of these are adapted from other people, some of them are mine.

Kai

he has naturally straight hair so he uses curlers to put wave in it. by curlers, i mean the ones your grandma uses overnight. he also sleeps in a bonnet

bro wears eyeliner. not a lot, but when asked he will admit to it.

he knows how to cook a meal and is probably the best chef (minus Zane bc Zane is goated) but doesn't like to cook

he is terrified of bugs. any kind of bug, it doesn't matter. he doesn't want to look at them, he doesn't want to be near him, and if he was alone in the monastery and found a spider, the entire thing would be up in flames.

when he gets spooked, sometimes fire will shoot out of his shoulders.

when someone on the team is upset or struggling with smth, he forces them to do self care nights with him

he paints his nails black or red

he's an insomniac, has been since his parents left. it got better around s11 but still struggles with it. when he can't sleep he likes to do blacksmithing. nya and pixal set up a station in the X Cave for him to do it quietly.

Jay

adhd, adhd, adhd, adhd, adhd, adhd-

he doesn't know what his biological mother looks like and he likes to try and imagine it.

the reason his hair curled after s7 is bc of puberty. some people's hair gets curly :/

when he uses his powers his spine will glow blue and have offshoots of the same color that look like lightning. it's sick af

he always carries his yin medallion with him. he might be wearing it, he may be holding it, it may be chillin in his pocket, but it's always on him.

after the events of s15 and then after s16, jay brags about how easy it was for him to grow a beard. it pisses lloyd off.

the eye that he hurt in Skybound(s6) is ever so slightly a lighter shade of blue than his other eye. sometimes it still hurts him and on those days it looks bloodshot and he wears an eye patch.

his favorite kind of art is watercolors.

he's got a wicked spice tollerance

Cole

he forced Zane to teach him how to cook basic things. but, he is a very skilled baker naturally

he's great with kids bc he lets them swing off his arms like monkey bars

cole is black and bc his dad never did, kai taught him how to take care of his hair.

he likes having long hair bc it covers his scar from when he was a ghost.

right after becoming human again, he kept forgetting he wasn't a ghost and kept running into walls and doors

he has seriously considered becoming a streamer

cole is terrified of singing because his mother used to sing him to sleep.

Zane

sometimes he feels what pixal is feeling bc they share a heart

even after nya came back in s16, zane didn't turn on his emotions again until nya convinced him too. he then cried for three hours straight.

he will laugh without hesitation at a dad joke. he will also crack up as he's trying to tell a dad joke

he still has pictures lloyd drew him in s1 until childs play.

he's easily annoyed by people who break traffic laws.

he rarely swears, but swore more when he was pretending to be a pirate in s15.

after figuring out him roleplaying a detective in s12 annoyed Pixal, he downloads and roleplays things for other missions they are on together. like the pirate thing in s15.

he lets kai paint his nails

Nya

unlike kai, her hair is naturally wavy and she used to straighten it from the pilot-s7. then she kinda gave up.

she decided to grow out her hair bc she wanted to look more like her mother, but then hated having hair against her neck all the time and started putting it up.

she can bench press jay and she has a sleeper build

she gets pissed when she sees someone in the arcade getting close to her and jay's high score on the dance machine

she's a light sleeper

she's terrified of snakes

when she's upset about something, she will either beat the shit out of the training equipment (then proceed to fix in in a huff) or just build random things

she's seriously considered building jay a robot dog. but she never went through with it

Lloyd

when he's really happy, sleeping, or meditating, he purrs.

he's got freckles that look like diamonds bc of the dragon scale thing

hes got fangs, his ears are pointed, and when he's pissed or enamored by something his eyes turn red. naturally, his pupils are a bit pointer, aren't as round basically

lloyd knew about his oni form before the events of s16 but never told anyone. he's known about it since s9 when he had a nightmare and woke up to see himself half-shifted in the mirror. he asked mistake about it, she explained, he asked her to not tell anyone, and she didn't. neither did he.

he likes mints because he likes hard candies better, gives him something to fidget with

he's always bustling with energy bc of his element. he can't sit still for the life of him.

he can still control the individual elements of creation as well as water and wind. he found out he could control wind after s5 and he could control water after s15.

when he uses his powers, his eyes glow whatever color they are (red or green) for up to an hour afterwards.

he has super hearing and super smell. he can also partially see in the dark if theres just a little bit of light

he hates ants

he has consistent nightmares. nearly every night. unlike the visions in DR, he doesn't flail for his nightmares, just jolts awake.

he loves photography and has many professional grade cameras. he likes it because he gets to hold memories.

when he's upset at someone, he unconsciously switches to yelling at them in Oni language.

he can understand and read the Harmonizer language but can't speak or write it.

Hanna

she's filthy rich. her parents own a very successful real estate business and a shipping company

she doesn't talk to her parents and doesn't like talking about them

she has an accent bc of being part Harmonizer but she hides it bc it led to a lot of people not understanding her. the closest thing it sounds like irl is a Russian accent.

she sometimes talks in the Harmonizer language, especially if she's frustrated or sleeping.

she can understand and read the Oni language.

after shifting to full harmonizer the first time, the black and gold lines on her skin became visible when human if your close enough to see them

she requires no form of skin care but still joins kai for skin care nights.

she has bad periods and struggles with migraines bc of her powers

she could feel something was off before the crystal king formed in s16. she has a scar on her knuckle from where she punched harumi in the face

she loves sports bikes. she liked going fast and breaking traffic laws. but, safety is her top priority even for herself and never goes out without making sure her and any backpacks are in full gear.

after s15, she had a lot of anxiety attacks

she knew about Lloyd's oni form bc she accidentally walked in on him one day he struggled to mask it.

she is also really good with kids

she heals pretty quickly bc of being part harmonizer, and because of that, most of the wounds she gets scars over.

she hates being in the spotlight

Kai

He’s used to playing the role of an older brother himself, so it throws him for a bit of a loop when he meets you

At first he’s a little wary

He thinks you’re trying to replace him

But once he realizes that you treat him like a little sibling too, he starts to come around to the idea of you

Surprisingly, he actually ends up liking you a lot

He finally gets to experience what he’s provided for others his whole life

It’s a huge weight off his shoulders; for the first time he feels like he doesn’t have to carry all the responsibility

He comes to you often with his troubles, taking full advantage of your relationship

(Not in a manipulative way)

He even asks for help when he needs it

He really does look up to you, and he’s grateful to have you in his life

He still carries a lot of responsibility though, no matter how much you might try to alleviate it

It’s just what he’s used to, I doubt you could convince him to change

Zane

He’s a little confused when he first meets you

He doesn’t know why you’re being so friendly towards the group, taking on the role of companion and mentor at the same time

He’s not complaining though, your presence seems to boost the others’ morale

One day you pull him aside and tell him that you’re there for him too if he should ever need anything

He just blinks at you, but after a moment he smiles

He won’t come to you at first, so you’ll have to come to him

Seeing you helping out with cleaning and sparring shows him that he really can trust you

He starts to come to you when he needs help with cleaning

One day, while you’re doing the dishes, he asks you for advice

You’re happy to help, of course

You’re also stoked that he finally trusts you like that

It becomes a bit of a tradition for you two; discussing life while you clean together

It helps Zane sort out his feelings

Though it took a while for you two to get that close, he’s really grateful to have a relationship like that in his life

Lloyd

He took to you straight away

Despite his mature nature, and as much as he likes to act grown up, he still feels like a kid inside

So he finds himself needing advice often

And to have someone like you, someone reliable who cares about him in an older-brotherly way, it’s no small comfort for him

He spends a lot of time with you, bombarding you with questions and always trying to learn something from you

Of course, he knows that you’re no sensei, but in a way that makes you more trustworthy

You’re closer to him than Wu or Garmadon, both in age and mentality

And he appreciates that it doesn’t always have to be a therapy session when he’s with you

He likes to mess around too, releasing that inner child

A sensei would never help him with pranks or buy comics; that’s another thing that makes you special to him

Overall you play a unique role in his life that he quickly grows attached to

After a while, he can’t even imagine a life without you

Jay

He’s not so receptive to the idea of an older brother

He’s a bit of a brat to you at first

He doesn’t accept your authority or wisdom; he doesn’t even see you as a friend

But when he finds himself in need of advice, he starts to regret the hostility between you two

Luckily you’re both forgiving and observant, so you come to him

He begrudgingly talks to you; you can hear the lingering apprehension in his voice, but you ignore it

You can see his face soften as you offer some advice and comfort

By the time you’re done speaking he’s actually smiling

He jumps up, hugging you tightly before running off to try out your suggestion

After that it’s like he forgot your rocky history together

He comes straight to you with the littlest problems

He usually just needs to vent, which is fine by you

It took him a while to warm up to you, but once he decides you’re okay he’s tied to you for life

Cole

When he first meets you, you guys get along pretty well

You’re more like friends in the beginning; Cole doesn’t really feel the need to come to you for advice

Mostly because he doesn’t trust you like that

So you just stay friends for a while

But after a while he starts to see the merits of your wisdom, so he tests the waters by asking little questions

When those questions lead you into deep conversations, that confirms it for him: you’re definitely a good source for advice

Mostly he just explores those deep topics with you though, learning what he can from the things you say

And it definitely helps that you guys usually have these conversations mid-hang out

So you’ll be working out or playing video games while talking

It certainly makes things more enjoyable for you both

Basically, your relationship is an even balance between deep talks and hanging out

Which Cole greatly appreciates, since he likes deep talks but at the same time doesn’t like to take things too seriously

So you’re the ideal companion :)

Nya

You’d think she’d be opposed to accepting you as an older brother figure, since she already has Kai

But you’re different from Kai

Kai might’ve been a rock in her life, but unfortunately he isn’t much one for advice

In the past when Nya needed advice, she’d have to go to Wu

His riddles were often confusing, leaving her more conflicted than before

But when she meets you, she finally has someone who will speak on her level

Someone who’s got more up to date wisdom, too

She likes to talk to you about her problems because she knows you’ll understand

Your wisdom is just more modern

Plus she likes that you speak to her like an equal, rather than a sensei

You’re just as open with her as she is with you

That’s another reason that she trusts you a lot

She’s glad to have Kai, but she’s also glad to have you :)

• Jay has naturally red-ish, curly hair and decided to not try to tame it and grew it out starting at Season 8; extremely high pain tolerance (relating to Skybound); ADHD, and lots of energetic outbursts; he can be smart when he really needs to; self-esteem issues; good with anything mechanical; very curious + clever; video game genius; listens to kahoot music on repeat

• Cole isn't very flexible (compared to the other ninjas) because of his muscular body; sweet-tooth; loves food, not very good at cooking, ofc; loves playing and listening to music; good taste in music; literally the BFG; makes a good father figure; really kind; gets back at anyone who hurts people he cares about; literally besties with Kai; grounded and down to earth

• Nya, like Cole, is a terrible cook; tends to rant a lot; Kai's babysitter when he gets mad; sharp, pointed features; EXTREMELY stubborn; exceptional with hands-on situations, but not really good with technical and mentally challenging situations; pretty intense

• Lloyd is also Kai's babysitter when he gets mad; has an extreme sweet-tooth, which outstands even Cole's, because of his Oni heritage; the Responsible One™; somewhat energetic, like Jay; DON'T GIVE HIM COFFEE WHATSOEVER; gets teased by most of the ninja for his short height; has the mentality of a child

Sora likes to spend time with Nya by teaching each other about tech and how theyd mix their current knowledge with the stuff the other taught them (i imagine the same thing happening when pixal comes back)

Kai thought it'd be funny to show arin and Sora old pictures of lloyd when he was younger with the bowl haircut, now you're probably imagining both of them laughing but n o. Why? Cuz arin had a similar bowlcut before (this was before the merge) so he just kinda stayed silent while Sora was cry laughing

The thingies on the side of wyldfyres leg and knees are sheded scales from heatwave cuz she's not exactly lava proof

Arin is really cultured when it comes to memes and every time he references one to sora or wyldfyre their reaction is just like "what are you talking about?" But when he references them to the ninjas they go "YOU KNOW THAT MEME????"

Wyldfyre learned how to swear from kai

Fritz and spitz are masters of hide and seek! Whenever it's their turn to hide, they'll always taunt the seekers and you can never tell where they were hiding, not only that but they are really good at seeking too

Wyldfyre HATES the cold, AC rooms are a no no. Why? Cuz 1, she's not used to it. 2, it makes her feel like she's nowhere near her family/home. Which brings me to another headcannon

Wyldfyre loves hugs, they're warm and well it's nice, she associates warmth with the feeling of home or something like that, idk i thought it was sweet

Random idea/thing but, I know everyone hcs that jaya They will adopt Sora and Lloyd adopt arin and I know that can work but sometimes I don't think so (Dr s2 p2 SPOILER!)

arin is like Nya in the past, No one (some fans and characters) cares about them Even when they know they are important to the story And all this is because "they do not have the elements power"....and for Jay, everyone says that he and arin are Annoying and the weakest two people on the team... But they do not realize that they have the potential to be better than other characters Also, they resemble each other for several reasons, but the most important reason is the way in which they lost their family, It is true that they are not similar but that does not negate my point. And also The way they were betrayed or disappointed by their favorite characters, Jay loved an actor (I don't remember his name) and wanted to be like him, but when he discovered the truth that he was his father, His admiration disappeared and became disappointment. and for Arin, it was pretty much the same. Arin was betrayed by his heroes because they didn't stop the merge and didn't save his parents AND didn't even teach him the Spinjitzu, and jay and arin are working for the same person now (Lord Ras)...

And for Sora and Lloyd:

They suffered from abuse and neglect by their families And all this because of something stupid, Sora and Lloyd were similar for many reasons, including the fact that they both lost their childhood. And there were those who hated them for some reasons (Kai and Jordana in the past) And they were different from everyone else (Sora: pink hair and has cat markings) - (Lloyd: dragon/oni hybrid and he is blond, even though his parents had black hair but it's clear that this happened because he's a literal reincarnation of his grandfather) and They have a strong connection with dragons and We all saw the way Lloyd treated Sora in this series and they are literally like a father and daughter here!❤️

Maybe I'm right or I'm just obsessed with them? Idk

Ok so there's this thing called Petechiae. Petechiae are tiny bleeding spots under the skin. It appears as a bunch of red, purple, or brown dots no bigger than the tip of a ball point pen.

Nya and Kai both have it because parts of their bodies have thin skin. Kai's had it on his calves since he was little and Nya has it on her wrists/forearms.

When the spots first started showing when Kai was 8 and Nya was 5 or 6, Kai saved every penny he could to see a doctor because he thought they were dying. When the doctor told him that it's nothing to worry about unless they have worsening symptoms, Kai felt so relieved.

But fast forward to when Kai becomes a ninja and has acess to free workout equipment, petechiae started forming on his biceps bc of how frequently he worked them out. (Petechiae can form in places that you work out/strain too much). Now he likes to wear baggy sleeves to cover the spots up, he's not too insecure abt the spots on his calves, bc who's gonna stare at his calves too long to notice? Nya likes to wear long sleeves or bracelets to cover up the spots on her wrists/forearms.
