French Bulldog Profile, Breed Price, Puppy, Size & Special Info
The French Bulldog is a French breed of a French companion dog or toy dog. It appeared in Paris in the mid-nineteenth century, apparently the result of cross-breeding of toy bulldogs imported from England and local Parisian ratters. This is a stocky, compact dog with a friendly, gentle disposition.
The breed is popular as a pet: in 2020, they were the second most popular registered dog in the United Kingdom, and the fourth most popular AKC-registered dog breed in the United States.
He was ranked the third most popular dog in Australia in 2017. In 2019, in the United Kingdom, French Bulldogs had 375 export pedigrees and a total of 33,661 registered dogs.
By comparison, the Labrador Retriever had over 36,700 dogs, and the Cocker Spaniel had less than 22,000.
History About French Bulldog:
The “Bulldog Francais”, as he is known in his adopted home country of France, actually originated in the city of Nottingham in England. Little Bulldogs were popular pets with local lace workers, keeping them company and ridding their workrooms of rats.
After the Industrial Revolution, lacemaking became mechanized and many lace workers lost their jobs. Some of them moved to France, where their skills were in demand, and of course, they took their beloved dogs with them.
The dogs were equally popular with French shoppers and eventually took on the name of their new country.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, dogs became popular among members of the Parisian bohemian class: women of the night, artists, writers such as the novelist Colette, and wealthy Americans who were taking the Grand Tour.
The Impressionist artist Toulouse Lautrec also used a Frenchie in one of his paintings, “Le Marchand des Marrons”.
Frenchies have rapidly gained popularity over the past decade. Today, the breed ranks 21st among breeds registered by the American Kennel Club, up from 71st in 2000, a testament to their qualities as a companion.
French Bulldog Breed Characteristics:

Temperament of This Breed:
The French Bulldog, like many other companion dog breeds, requires close contact with humans. If left alone for more than a few hours, it can lead to experiencing separation anxiety.
French Bulldogs are often kept as companions. The breed is patient and affectionate with its owners and can live with other breeds. French Bulldogs are agreeable dogs and are human-oriented, and this makes them easy to train, although they do have a tendency to be stubborn.
He is ranked 58th in Stanley Coren’s The Intelligence of Dogs. There are a few exceptions to this average level of canine intelligence; A French Bulldog named Princess Jacqueline, who died in 1934, was claimed to be able to speak 20 words under appropriate circumstances.
Personality of This Dog Breed:
Those who love him say that the best qualities of the French Bulldog are charm and adaptability. A Frenchie loves almost everyone he meets and will look for someone who is up for adoption.
This is a highly alert breed that barks discreetly. If a Frenchie barks, you should investigate him.
What not to like? The French can be stubborn about any type of training. Motivate them with gentle, positive techniques. They can learn quickly when you find the right reward, although you will find that they like to put their own spin on tricks or commands, especially when they have an audience.
Begin training your puppy the day you bring him home. Even at eight weeks old, he is able to soak up everything you can teach him. Don’t wait until they are 6 months old to start training or you will have a more stubborn dog to deal with.
If possible, take him to puppy kindergarten class, and socialize, socialize, socialize until he is 10 to 12 weeks old.
However, be aware that many puppy training classes require some vaccines to be up-to-date, and many veterinarians recommend limited exposure to other dogs and in public places until puppy vaccines.
In lieu of formal training, you can start home training your puppy and socialize him with family and friends until the puppy’s vaccinations are complete.
Talk to the breeder, describe what you are looking for in a dog, and ask for help choosing a puppy. Breeders see puppies daily and can make very accurate recommendations after knowing a bit about their lifestyle and personality.

August 2022
Manage your reactions but do not suppress your emotions - yung pueblo
Meeting Óscar again. Waking up in Cancún, sitting under the happy lime mural during sunrise, watching the cats on the roof and the city slowly waking up.
Sharing a sweet and a savory breakfast dish.
That barista in Holbox - she had a very cool style with magical tattoos: a spell book, bats, potions... Of course she was from CDMX like basically every cool Mexican I connected with during my time there. We talked about language apps and shared our sun/moon/rising signs. On top of that she served a killer Café Latte frío.
In Holbox I also realised that I love those long, straight, overgrown sand paths that end in an ocean view. Sweet anticipation.
Drinking while submerged in water. The shower, a pool, the sea. Such a luxurious feeling.
Fresh passion fruit juice with lots of seeds. Tiny baby bananas. Fruit for breakfast. Coming back to Tulum, retracing my well-trodden paths.
A morning swim to stretch my creaky back after lying still for too long. Ocean yoga - great to practice difficult asanas. If you fall you'll land very softly.
Tacos and quesadillas, salsa verde, chipotle con mayonesa, Chiles Rellenos. Slim Pop palomitas. Salt and Lime on everything (weirdly enough also delicious in Peñafiel mineral water!)
My macramé hammock with an ocean view.
Walking through the water along the sandbank to our own private beach, carrying our backpacks on top of our heads.
All the animals I'm not used to: pelicans, geckos, iguanas, stingrays, needlefish, calamari. I even saw a whale shark from up close.
Snorkelling in Akumal. There were large sea turtles popping up their heads right next to me! Wonderful creatures.
Lunch with Ellie and Elena from Nottingham, two charmingly positive travellers.
Renting an electric bicycle in Tulum. Meeting the Barbels again - Zara, Andrea and Guilia, the Italians I've already rented a bike from in December. Cristian and Sabrina (more Italians) from Howlita were amazing, too!
The Wim Hoff breathwork class at Holistika with Victor Goenka. Actually feeling the heat and the mind-expanding effects. Being able to hold my breath much longer. The ice bath afterwards. - and of course hanging out by the empty pool later.
Befriending a little British boy, telling him the story of how I licked a green ant's butt in Australia and it tasted like lemon. Later I saw him trying to lick a regular Mexican ant - his mum probably hates me now.
Tamarindos in full bloom. I love their feathery leaves.
Locating the esoteric store in Cancún again. Buying two more tiny ranitas for Doris. A red and a green one - one for good luck and one for love.
The vendor lady at a plant market in Oaxaca who told me everything about her geometric molds, clay mix and terrazzo flower pots. The elote lady who let me walk away with my food and bring over the money later. I love how friendly and easygoing many people are in this part of the world.
An evening with Doris. Movies and dinner in bed. Fresh laundry smell.
Walking through Oaxaca: murals and art everywhere. Artisanal kombucha and a pistachio smoothie. The amazing view from Cafe Monte, strolling through the markets.
A woodcutting workshop at Subterráneos. The flow of creating something without a purpose and doing something with my hands without thinking much about it showed me once again how much I enjoy creative work. I need to make more space for that in my life.
Sharing almost-Carbonara at an Italian cabaña restaurant somewhere in the Sierra Madre del Sur during the pouring rain. Playing Trivial Pursuit, ordering more naranjadas.
The cabaña in the mountains: a hammock with a spectacular view of the valley. A hike: mushroom art everywhere, cats and puppies, the forest smell. Taking a bath together, shaving her. Trying to start a fire - failing, mostly. The wood was too moist. Unexpected food deliveries.
We had a whole house to ourselves in La Boquilla with a view of the Pacific. The sound of the waves, hammocks on the roof, sorting my thoughts, planning the next weeks. A fresh breeze. Watching the lime green lizard trying to find its way down from the roof again. Watching You Got Mail in bed. Speaking along. How many times have I seen this movie...
The upside of a tiny bathroom is being able to rest your forehead against the opposite wall while sitting on the toilet.
Setting up office in my gorgeous balcony nook in Zipolite. Inspired, motivated, eager to create. Morning energy, fresh coffee, connecting with a few friends. Getting out my notebook for the first time. Writing down all the places I'd already visited. Applying stickers, carefully cutting out a quote from Octavia's Brood. Listening to Sam Harris musing about meditation. Keeping track of books and movies. Petting the two cats hanging out on the upper floor. I felt so at ease there.
Holding each other after witnessing someone die in the Pacific just a few metres away. It could have been me. My hubris of swimming towards the waves instead of away from them the day before. My fearlessness had a sudden turning point. Humbled and afraid. Vowing to respect the water from then on.
The laid back vibes in Zipolite. And the amazing French bakery.
"We probably look like uber-lesbians right now", she said after I'd spotted a cat outside the window, let her in and all three of us were sitting in bed together.
4 elements, my home in Mazunte for ten days. Cooking my first meal on the road. Actually getting a bag of groceries. La Diosa Mystika (the resident cat). Meeting Tabata. A frightening thunderstorm at night. It was SO loud and rain sprayed into the room. Following the chicklets (which ended in a hen attack). So many huge butterflies I'd never seen before.
My scooter - it feels so liberating every time I finally get a bike or scooter somewhere. Hair flowing in the wind, cooling down, a larger radius of movement.
Dinner at Umami. Falafel bowl and raw maracuyá tarte.
Chakra Flow yoga with Linda from the Netherlands. I dripped. All the time. And sitting up straight in the beginning was painful. But I'm always so grateful that I did it afterwards. The Indian Hatha class was extremely hard for me but somehow I made it through. Proud.
Lying on top of Doris at the beach. A spectacular view. Kisses. Playing with sand, dragging each other through the water. Seeing the water sink into the sand after every wave.
Our tearful goodbye. How she told me that I can always come home. That I have to take care of myself. When she gave me a crescent moon bracelet, the same as hers. One in silver, one gold.
Dinner with Tabi. Talking about our lives, issues, learnings, views and signs. An abundance of delicious food (Chilaquiles!). Learning that I can actually have a profound conversation in Spanish!
Punta Cometa during sunset. Climbing down the rocks, sitting on driftwood at the hidden beach. Admiring the older couple enjoying each other's company. Actually turning around and going back when I noticed I was lost because Doris' words were still in my head.
Someone on horseback (!) at a bar, getting a drink and chatting with his earthbound friends.
Breathwork. It actually works - it's so energising. I need to learn more about it!
Brushing my teeth with a view. Trying to catch a glimpse of the sea, standing in the sunshine looking down the hill.
A spontaneous job offer - Instituto Iguana wanted me to stay for a few weeks to teach the maestras English. In the end I declined (I didn't wanna work that early in my trip, didn't have access to any teaching materials and my flight to Cuba was nearing) but it made me realise how easily I could just stay somewhere and never go back.

First Love and Depression
Day 1, Sunday, 21st October 2018
The time before I met my first love was dark and gloomy. I could hardly remember any of it other than spending majority of my time playing online games and studying. My anxiety did not help me in making friends.
How did I meet her?
It was at a tuition class for 6th grade. We sat in the same table and didn’t talk. There was a guy who was obviously flirting with her but she didn’t budge. I could only secretly glimpse at her. I was stunned at her beauty. Long black hair and a beauty smile. I did not look into her eyes and that was the last I saw her until 4 years later.
Same story at another tuition for 10th grade. We didn’t talk and I could only secretly admire her from afar.
2 years later, we went to pre-university school. We were in the same Mathematics class. Third time the charm. I finally took the courage to talk to her, online that is.
We hit off very well. Lots of late night chat and we would wait for each other to be free to talk. It was a puppy love. We would secretly look at each other at class and smile, and have small conversations. But, we never went out.
As soon as it happened, it was gone.
We stopped talking and she had a boyfriend. He would walk her to classes and pick her up as well. It was very miserable for me. It was a new territory for me, all these emotions. I began to isolate myself even further.
Life is funny.
Two years later at a friend’s birthday party, on the 5th May 2012, we met.
At that time, my walls were build up not only for her but everyone else. My heart was racing when we accidentally ‘talked’ with the host. I said frantically, I had to leave. She asked me something but I could not recall what was it about. I left the party and sped off with my car.
A few days later, she texted me. The moment was very unreal because I did not have her number after I changed my phone. I asked her who she was.
We chatted about the universities we were going to and our courses we were going to take. I thought our conversation would end there. It lasted for a few days…
Those missed chances were taking over me. I had nothing to lose but her again. I asked her out and a few dates later, she was my girlfriend.
Anyone would have thought this is the perfect ending. All those years of missed chances, admiring from afar and hiding my feelings were all worth it. There was no perfect ending but a beautiful beginning.
Many nights were spent strolling down a waterfront and a beach by a hotel. Our conversations were endless and could only finish because of how late the night was. We bonded and talked about our life stories, worries and hope. Never in my life had I opened up to anyone. Trust was the key.
We went to our universities. She was in Nottingham and I was in Bristol; separated by 3 hours and 30 minutes train ride. The journey was the easy part. The relationship was the hurdle that we did not overcome.
Our love was there, to what I believe it was. Trust was not. Only years after we broken up, I reliased that I was not honest with her. Something was haunting me; that time when she disappeared and left me without a word.
I never told her that until when she was about end the relationship. The wrong was all mine for holding on to the past and not be in the present.
She was more than my (ex) lover. A best friend who I never had, who I knew would not judge me for who I was, who was the only person who stood by me all the time.
I went into depression after she left and even went for counseling. As quick as it happened, I was suddenly alone again with no friends or someone to talk to. I had regular panic attacks and anxiety. It went on for months when I finally snapped out of it.
I had two long term relationships with two amazing girls. Both ended on a bad note.
My last relationship made me realised that I have never moved on from my first love. It has been 6 years. Inside my heart, I know I am still hoping for a possibility to be with her again. I am no fool (maybe I am), I know it will never happen. That is when I gave up on finding love. Sometimes you have to let go someone you love just because of how much you love her. She will never be happy with me, no matter how much I am willing to change.
Now, I am still searching for my purpose in life. I am still back at where I was, no friends, no ambitions, no dreams. Everyday I wake up wondering what is my purpose. There sets my 2 years countdown to my last day on earth.

Albums Of 2019
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4fed2afa63f02328aaee68ca4478928c/4d36f49c851cf3e1-10/s540x810/9de036a9b50ac9ab080bc8dfcce84ae861b90143.jpg)
Here we go again. Another pretty strong year. Full disclosure I haven’t had as much time to listen to these albums this year as usual so my mind may be changed (possibly immediately) but here’s my list as it stands at the mo.
Before that though... an honourable mention of an album which I decided wasn’t eligible for the list because technically it’s a soundtrack album, even though it sounds like a new album from the band, and a strong addition to their discography....
Biffy Clyro “Balance, Not Symmetry”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2b0d6019c64f9e8fc47418a7b9d3ce53/4d36f49c851cf3e1-e4/s540x810/6ea9d9c921b7bd53a47b8d96b655f9b7a3edd1b2.jpg)
And now the bonus 30 albums that didn’t quite make the top 50 but couldn’t go unmentioned.

Lindsay Schoolcraft / Sigrid / Talla 2XLC / Ladytron / The Anix / While She Sleeps / Calva Louise / HANA / Ivy Crown / Lacuna Coil / Hante. / Puppy / Stanton Warriors / Moonlight Haze / Perfect Son

Idiot Pilot / Port Noir / Above & Beyond / Eat Your Heart Out / Potty Mouth / Lupa J / Papa Roach / Starkill / IAMWARFACE / The Anix / MC Lars & Mega Ran / Snow Ghosts / J Majik / Estiva / GIRLI
And now the big five-oh
50.
Dinosaur Pile-Up “Celebrity Mansions”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d155bb81bde35923d22bb32025d8aeb2/4d36f49c851cf3e1-a8/s540x810/03f3d07693850dd2590297862038d0db6f9f8f20.jpg)
Dinosaur Pile-Up have been gaining praise for their 4th album, and it’s not hard to see why. Spikey, catchy rock and punk, about touring the USA, some sounding like Foo Fighters’ heavier moments. Fun stuff.
49. Foals “Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 1″
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fe315af472f76f56b05895963960e96b/4d36f49c851cf3e1-49/s540x810/b842a7d64df34160f35e7858f4a53d5d03c338bd.jpg)
The experimental indie band released 2 albums in 2019, both parts of the same project, and though Part 2 certainly has merit, and a few cracking tracks, Part 1 is the more consistent, full of varied and surprising music.
48. Forever Still “Breathe In Colours”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bbe87b3c21597604d572e5de8179d262/4d36f49c851cf3e1-70/s540x810/4e3b79415cd8fc6e0487018b247172e0f0a178bb.jpg)
The Danish hard rockers fronted by Maja Shining, deliver their 2nd album of aggressive, melodic rock and alternative metal.

47. Cold Kingdom “Into The Black Sky”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0fe721e0244bc33b2416b623e0dd8b69/4d36f49c851cf3e1-ff/s540x810/35f2de9f33646397b547da9103c9c302a85b7e62.jpg)
Debut album from the Minneapolis hard rockers, their first release with new singer Elissa Pearson.

46. Hatchie “Keepsake”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a7dcc94093c5702eb8d23d0720742dac/4d36f49c851cf3e1-26/s540x810/3743a587419744627d3fe5df7d0adac0b49eb317.jpg)
Aussie Hatchie brings us her debut album of shoegaze-y, shimmery, dreamy, electronic indie-pop. One to float away with.
https://hatchie.bandcamp.com/album/keepsake
45. UNKLE “The Road Part II / Lost Highway”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/eeaf283174439cf1b52c1ab3cda0bd7b/4d36f49c851cf3e1-79/s540x810/25f33d9ebb1cb0cb2e1df1fef1882cc87bb0c831.jpg)
A serious case of double album syndrome with this one. Disc 1, aside from a weak cover of a terrible song as its last track, is absolutely amazing, and if it was released like that it would be top 10 for sure. But the whole thing has to be considered and disc 2, though far from bad, is just a bit dull, especially comparatively.
44. Doll Skin “Love Is Dead And We Killed Her”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2151129725bcc6488600f7e7225f8bea/4d36f49c851cf3e1-4f/s540x810/88e4f93dd66add64ca6995c9d8d456e591b9b4f7.jpg)
The ladies from Phoenix are back with their new album, once again a great collection of catchy, upbeat, alternative rock and punk.
43.
Only Shadows “Brothers”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b6818ae9f723414d64dd745f46a1c381/4d36f49c851cf3e1-c8/s500x750/6e9efc5bf7d398783e51a90d82fb3e7877077c8c.jpg)
Epic, catchy indie rock. They are very American sounding but they come from Nuneaton. Good stuff though.
42. Driftmoon “Remember The Night”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e951a9fee2adf6bd486696fe379363cd/4d36f49c851cf3e1-a4/s540x810/e3bf80f853944fbbb45e06a4f79fb5c18fb3683c.jpg)
Though it is a live recording of a DJ set, Driftmoon insists that this is his third artist album. Fair enough - it is all his music, though there are many collabs and his remix of John O’Callaghan & Audrey Gallagher’s classic “Big Sky”, but aside from an instrumental version of a track that featured on his last album “Invictus” it’s all previously unreleased. He wanted to switch it up and make the ‘live performance’ the first way these tracks were heard. And like many a DJ set, more often than an album, the biggest and best tracks are in the last third of the album, and there are some mammoth tunes here.
41.
The High Priest “Dream American”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4ed638c78173e9fd9685614495fc4d3c/4d36f49c851cf3e1-c4/s540x810/73b1af2ee088872e1c14d5f948cb55fdf7f9a52e.jpg)
Formerly of excellent bands Diphonia, Global Police Force and Dark Science, The High Priest continues his solo journey with his new album. And it’s a good ‘un. His website describes it best - “Dark brooding sonic rock music and atmospheric soundscapes”. Class.
40. Feeder “Tallulah”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2ffef32a0ad3a53e1aa873122b3ad526/4d36f49c851cf3e1-46/s540x810/ab4994982a14a3704862b7e3101fac1c4e9fb59e.jpg)
Feeder’s tenth album continues their run of quality records. It’s no wild departure, but you’ll like it if you’re a fan. “Fear Of Flying” stands up against many of their classic tunes.
39. Furious Monkey House “Love, Scum & Dust”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/24033758e0440543c899f0de70f61d70/4d36f49c851cf3e1-32/s540x810/cc4ab6c0501950a9f967f3b95f081be21fe7346a.jpg)
Spanish indie-rock young-uns Furious Monkey House release their 2nd album. And it’s an excellent collection of catchy upbeat tunes, mostly in English but with some native Spanish in there too. Great stuff.
38. Nemesea “White Flag”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8bff45512dd660e577c3a950dd65053e/4d36f49c851cf3e1-fa/s540x810/2c37f80a6b83e27ef342417c8f143f95c3456175.jpg)
5th album from the Dutch band. They’ve moved through symphonic metal and gothic rock in their career, and this album includes a handful of the best songs they’ve ever done.
https://nemesea.bandcamp.com/album/white-flag
37. Fever 333 “Strength In Numb333rs”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7c04e4fc17da393dcb5995b1fadb9ec3/4d36f49c851cf3e1-fb/s540x810/dd59fe0fa6d0bad9e601bf70407021c30e4d694b.jpg)
Agressive rap-metal, with massive riffs and huge melodic choruses. Touches of electronics and Trap are dotted throughout. Sounds like the middle ground between Rage Against The Machine and early Linkin Park.
36.
The Dark Element “Songs The Night Sings”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/32ea8f577d29fb9f2a3766e45944712a/4d36f49c851cf3e1-21/s540x810/1cfa0a3108b671bfa5b8419f33e9d5c43214be32.jpg)
Former Nightwish vocalist Anette Olzon and her Dark Element partner Jani Liimatainen deliver their second album, and it’s another quality, catchy collection of symphonic metal tunes.
35. New Years Day “Unbreakable”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e9c804d6ecb1119809af555262d6f7fd/4d36f49c851cf3e1-24/s540x810/5102f3a27afdde128f461a0c2bac89bf33ea0cce.jpg)
Huge, jittery riffage, paired with pop style songwriting and melodies, with powerful vocals. Reminiscent of “Blood” era In This Moment, but less sleazy.
34. Blood Red Shoes “Get Tragic”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/080cbebaba05137f6fe35f3c72f1f8de/4d36f49c851cf3e1-60/s540x810/4c24b6186d68dd1e70ca634e6f6b7c6a7157e935.jpg)
Blood Red Shoes bring a new sound with their 5th album. More electronic, almost synth-pop, but still with a rock band at the core. Some of their most original and catchy tunes yet are included here.
33. Maraton “Meta”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/032e27a4b3d4da76cdd6a59eaa8fd2dd/4d36f49c851cf3e1-f1/s540x810/5ee126cd2714aba280659f8a6890662384b4f0aa.jpg)
The Bandcamp page describes this album perfectly - “MARATON pushes the boundaries between pop music and progressive rock, mixing machine like drums and roaring bass groundwork with shimmering guitars, ethereal keys and sacral vocal performance. The band has sought to create a style of music which combines the rhythmic heaviness from bands such as Mars Volta with the pop aesthetics of Muse.” Check them out.

32. Ankor “White Dragon”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7dbcdbf6970b4e8407ccfbff800ea173/4d36f49c851cf3e1-ad/s540x810/eafcd898f28f53f1966b783c2a0be157ee8f6e67.jpg)
Accessible metal with a prog sensibility, the melodies are catchy, but musically it will keep you guessing throughout.
31.
Liquid “Spacemonkey”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d4d840dafd04192391674ff5e20fcb9a/4d36f49c851cf3e1-7c/s540x810/619e129eae589425088eff7e145450fb6ecc3e19.jpg)
Old school hardcore rave stylings from scene legend Liquid on his 3rd artist album. A breakbeat bounty.
30. As December Falls “As December Falls”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3a12eed94aa2c2bc9d534a4418b1608d/4d36f49c851cf3e1-ba/s540x810/61fc7e6094ab405213385407b885af4011808843.jpg)
Straight to the point, catchy pop-punk from this Nottingham four-piece on their debut album. Fans of early Paramore, early Tonight Alive or We Are The In Crowd etc would do well to check this lot out.
29. Blink-182 “Nine”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/78c1bb7c6dbc58b3a1c52263d78093ec/4d36f49c851cf3e1-69/s540x810/e1013bbb923e9c7893bf9e9a8ed266978fdff2bd.jpg)
2016′s “California”, the first album to feature Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba replacing original member Tom DeLonge, was a huge return to form for the band, and “Nine” continues the revitalised Blink with another massive collection of pop-punk tunes. They broaden their sound palette here too with sampled drum loops and heavier riffs in places.
28. Rebecca Lou “Bleed”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0ff5269b7ac81802e0cdd8bab6d1a6ff/4d36f49c851cf3e1-ac/s540x810/5f3fab0345647043ac2ce8cb984f0c70df738f09.jpg)
There’s a shoegaze-esque vibe to the production on this collection of raw, catchy, rock ‘n’ roll tunes from Denmark, and it gives just the edge of uniqueness that makes this album special.
https://rebeccalou.bandcamp.com/album/bleed
27. Sleep Token “Sundowning”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2a25bec9a464a0b80d46a72bfb0aa18e/4d36f49c851cf3e1-d6/s540x810/27b466576924d19ad13a06b01ae99eb1b87e3923.jpg)
On paper Sleep Token, a mysterious, masked unit of unnamed musicians, who worship an ancient deity called “Sleep”, would make you think they made incredibly sinister black or doom metal. But that isn’t the case. There is a metal heaviness and some mountainous riffs, but only in parts - often kicking in as songs build to their climax. For the most part though they are bewitching soundscapes, often minimal, with huge melodic vocals, and electronic touches. Worship.
26. Within Temptation “Resist”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/371348f46e487f602121f3e4aa715515/4d36f49c851cf3e1-03/s540x810/b5468207c133e11aad1a546d1fb18ed7fb86b198.jpg)
Less orchestras, more electronic touches and more influence from other styles of modern music, but still unmistakably a Within Temptation album, “Resist” brings the band back from the brink after some serious writers’ block almost ended them. Bombastic and revitalised.
25. Solarstone “...--”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/eda77839892182e74d7baf02679776c6/4d36f49c851cf3e1-3e/s540x810/d525057dab442c8ea46e628365ac2492c2bb70d6.jpg)
The final part of Solarstone’s “One” album trilogy is once again an epic journey through his ‘pure trance’ sound.
24. We Are The Catalyst “Ephemeral”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/890a65a7b025221f43a02d6d4daec318/4d36f49c851cf3e1-6e/s540x810/c88f513f3d4d4c16425adbadcbedc93e558095b7.jpg)
Third album from the alternative-metal Swedes, full of huge choruses. Fans of accessible metal with melodic female vocals should check this out.
https://watcofficial.bandcamp.com/album/ephemeral
23. Lamb “The Secret Of Letting Go”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/222fefe5e1dca901635df59a12e5ee06/4d36f49c851cf3e1-ae/s540x810/aeacabd7b582b6025b33c80f8453ce506be74798.jpg)
Five years on from their last, Lamb unleash their 7th album. Ethereal, magical, and special, as they do so well.
22. Polynation “Igneous”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9a9fdd7798c025cd7bccee0285dd7df8/4d36f49c851cf3e1-43/s540x810/ee0b5629e18492b3d73b74b69573d91756cb29ef.jpg)
A cinematic, sweeping, atmospheric album, blending many facets of dance music, ambient, techno, IDM. A wordless, groove laden, goosebump inducing journey.
21. Grum “Deep State”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ac77bb4d6c6e3d362d07c46c79988bb3/4d36f49c851cf3e1-95/s540x810/00e90c273dc7a0ed29fa2b69d564c6360af6108a.jpg)
Grum’s much delayed second album finally lands on Anjunabeats. It’s a kinetic mix of sounds incorporating trance, progressive and deep house elements, and creates some huge anthems. In particular the incredible “Stay”.
20. False Advertising “Brainfreeze”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6c65177f9cdadfa09e41f0381282ec56/4d36f49c851cf3e1-1f/s540x810/6b5e352b41ee7ca07eca3a291357f52df482bee8.jpg)
Mancunian grunge / noise-pop trio deliver a fizzing album of 90s influenced rock. Cracking, energetic tunes throughout.
https://falseadvertising.bandcamp.com/album/brainfreeze
19. Cold Blue “Winter”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/40cddbade09b6b29d68924d906740312/4d36f49c851cf3e1-d2/s540x810/3520db558a8862b673bfa82c9989ae050ba8dcd3.jpg)
Slowly but surely building his status and honing his craft over the last decade or so, and in recent years gaining a reputation as one of the best producers in the trance scene, German Tobias Schuh finally unleashes his debut album. It is an epic, progressive journey through uplifting trance, slowly building and revealing its treasures, avoiding being too formulaic and predictable. One to get lost in.
18. R+ “The Last Summer”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9ca5b674dcf809b6e44c072de67e53c5/4d36f49c851cf3e1-1f/s540x810/c09d632a3aeac8cdf0e70681cb6cdee1bad5df82.jpg)
Rollo returns, with a little help from his sister Dido, and long time production partner and Faithless teammate Sister Bliss, giving us a blissful, Balearic sounding album. The whole thing sounds like a love letter to Ibiza. Lovely.
17. Pumarosa “Devastation”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7d525327c53258ea4ca9b0102977a0df/4d36f49c851cf3e1-58/s540x810/eba3373b86938c76eedfac05c94eeac562bbcc5f.jpg)
Pumarosa deliver their moody second album. A bit more electronic (with elements of trip-hop and drum & bass seeping in), a bit darker, still brilliantly adventurous. A very exciting band.
16. Luttrell “Into Clouds”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/225ff724fdfc28160e3432ea2068f435/4d36f49c851cf3e1-82/s540x810/33fdaeceb6b012308c39b0f8610b348b926cef64.jpg)
I’ve been following Eric Luttrell’s superb, progressive blend of deep house and melodic techno for a couple of years, and now he unleashes his debut album. It doesn’t disappoint. Widescreen, beautiful, upbeat, catchy and excellently produced.
15. The Beautiful Monument “I’m The Reaper”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4a2c2ea1bbf28a95739acfc26d359dc0/4d36f49c851cf3e1-7e/s540x810/b3cfefca560e311b6f8253b9f4fd4060d48842ff.jpg)
The Aussie quartet deliver their second impressive long player. Huge riffs, huge drums, huge melodies, in their blend of post-hardcore, pop-punk and metal.
https://tbmofficial.bandcamp.com/album/im-the-reaper
14. The Thrillseekers present Hydra “Altered State”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/815b978a53232907ef2e11e64c2d983a/4d36f49c851cf3e1-74/s540x810/ad60f21283f71f2f59fb386a57ce32ac35507f89.jpg)
Despite releasing his first music in 1999, and releasing a steady stream of singles since, Steve Helstrip only delivered his debut album as The Thrillseekers in 2016. For this, his 2nd opus, he's decided to release under his Hydra alias. And what a beauty it is. Mostly instrumental, apart from a new reworking of The Thrillseekers classic "The Last Time" with vocals from Fisher, it is a masterclass in sublime, chilled, Balearic trance. Reminiscent of the first couple of Chicane albums, and makes you feel like you are blissed out on a beautiful, sunny beach.
https://thethrillseekers.bandcamp.com/album/altered-state
13. Jimmy Eat World “Surviving”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/006f67d23ad803f3f943206e3ecaeb9e/4d36f49c851cf3e1-ad/s540x810/adf7c12756c01a7405cf719190afc8866815e582.jpg)
"Surviving" is Jimmy Eat World's 10th album. There are little touches of an expansion to their sound, but if you are familiar with their brand of American rock, then you'll know pretty much what to expect. This is undoubtedly a Jimmy Eat World album. It is, however, a very, very good one. One of the strongest they've ever done in my opinion, probably only with "Bleed American" as any kind of competition.
12. Age Of Rampage “Empire City”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/56ceacc493a42fa365ff06431d2f0741/4d36f49c851cf3e1-bf/s540x810/8a1c84a506c8a59da8d932ab7e0218d00753665e.jpg)
Age Of Rampage deliver a plethora of breakbeat stompers on their debut album. Their love for acts like The Prodigy would be evident even without the first track sampling a Keith Flint interview, but the old school is delivered with relish here. If you love 90s breakbeat acts such as The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method, Freestylers etc, this is a very worthy listen. Such a shame Russian breakbeat label Criminal Tribe don't do physical releases.
https://criminaltribeltd.bandcamp.com/album/age-of-rampage-empire-city-ctr035-18032019
11. Hands Off Gretel “I Want The World”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/030aa8c0f1aac03eda57cff81c4564ce/4d36f49c851cf3e1-a2/s540x810/bb7350f6f5613ec7ea8401af6bb2b7026458a4b0.jpg)
Hands Off Gretel are an effervescent blend of punk and grunge, led by the fierce Lauren Tate. A love of 90s rock is evident. "I Want The World", their 2nd album, is packed full of killer tunes.
10. Dido “Still On My Mind”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fe7ba3ae76563946e3974585f336c644/4d36f49c851cf3e1-7a/s540x810/bc10c10e36304a248644b40dd0bda186bdb3cc4b.jpg)
I’ve loved Dido’s voice since the early days of Faithless, so when she started releasing her own music I’ve always liked it to varying degrees (loved some of it, some of it a bit meh). This is her best album since “No Angel” in my opinion. It’s chilled, ethereal, and rather beautiful, and has been one of my most listened to albums in 2019. The title track is absolutely one of my favourite tracks of the year. I’m surprised it is top 10, but it had to be.
9. Wislov “Madness From Paradise”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e3334dde11814b361df95fcff661a4f3/4d36f49c851cf3e1-f5/s540x810/f4cbd4c15661dd0352c1f7f8151826b23c367936.jpg)
Kniteforce Records and their sister labels have been a driving force in the old-school hardcore (or ‘rave’ as many early 90s compilations would call it) revival. Most of their releases are new music, just done in the old style, with fresh touches. Wislov is one of, if not the, greatest talent in this scene, and after a bunch of EPs and a slew of great tunes, this debut album is unleashed. And it’s a cracker. If you love that old-school sound you will find much to love here.
8. HÆLOS “Any Random Kindness”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4b0e1bdb089e38d4bb120e69d213683d/4d36f49c851cf3e1-d7/s540x810/34a5deb0bb94735dcac382869a58d39f6f60f32c.jpg)
Mesmerising, utterly beautiful, electronic tunes, with lush vocals. Picking up where their 2016 debut album “Full Circle” left off, but stepping up a notch. There is a heavy rave influence, but this is definitely made for the post-party, the comedown, the chill out time, the blissed out euphoria after the full on euphoria. Every time I hear this album I discover something new, and love it more. Wonderful.
7. Yonaka “Don’t Wait ‘Til Tomorrow”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/420259895c43edc0d52f945db95e34dd/4d36f49c851cf3e1-67/s540x810/66b98743b9efa86fa9f3a1d0f825a2a9b535c9f3.jpg)
Yonaka may veer to the poppier end of alternative-rock, but they know how to write a hell of a tune. Many of them in fact. 11 feature here on their debut album, released after a string of quality EPs and singles got them some exposure over the last couple of years. Hooks aplenty, huge choruses, riffs and electronics.
6. Anavae “45″
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/33fafd8a2a87d3fbfca0da0802c15792/4d36f49c851cf3e1-8b/s540x810/cd5ea8ba56d40c2bbba7ec74869980f5f79d1036.jpg)
Fans of Anavae have been waiting a long time for this. The debut album many thought may never come. 8 years on from their debut single and 7 years after their debut EP “Into The Aether”, and following a bunch of EPs and singles in the interim, it is finally here. And I’m sure very few will be left disappointed. Rebecca Need-Menear and Jamie Finch deliver a typically varied alternative-rock album, veering at times into poppier territory, and others into moody trip-hop-esque tracks. Other times they stick to simple, yet epic, rock tunes like on the massive “High”. If you don’t know this band, check them out.
5. Dream State “Primrose Path”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/045be86e720f61ddc2db2d8fef958436/4d36f49c851cf3e1-87/s540x810/e172d72bf08d82fee00ec8fe2dc5a9c4a28fd5b0.jpg)
Dream State progress in sound and technical ability with each release. From 2015′s debut EP “Consequences”, through last year’s excellent “Recovery” EP to this, their debut album. And it’s a pretty epic affair. Chunky riffs, pounding drumming, powerful vocals (both in aggressive and melodic turns from CJ Gilpin) with a massive, widescreen feel to the production. The Welsh 4-piece are often classed as post-hardcore, but that is far too limiting a description for a band with such obvious ambition. Class.

4. Machineheart “People Change”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5242f2577f62149021c2ba18240f3456/4d36f49c851cf3e1-1d/s540x810/2eb4d97405478128551c6c92c1bba165b6c72bd6.jpg)
Lush, shimmery, ethereal alt pop from this L.A. quartet fronted by the fabulous vocals of Stevie Scott. A cracking album from start to finish but a particular mention goes to upbeat (almost breakbeat styled) track "Overgrown" which is one of the best tracks I've heard all year. If you like bands like London Grammar or HÆLOS, give this album a spin.

3. Black Futures “Never Not Nothing”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4b0bb06530bcb4b484da3999af6a244e/4d36f49c851cf3e1-a3/s540x810/c3e9ba7393bcba72627870b923a943a324a7970a.jpg)
Black Futures are a genre meshing riot. They've been called "Anarchic Electro Psych Punk Noise", "industrial noise-punk" and label themselves as "Future Punk". They have the sensibilities of a punk band and a dance band simultaneously. There's Bobby Gillespie from Primal Scream guesting, as is rapper P.O.S. More than once have they been described as a mix of Death From Above 1979 & The Chemical Brothers. It's a future party, a post-apocalyptic riot. Give it a listen.

2. Dallas Kalevala “Dallas Kalevala”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1c48f5a8637cd9d8a68a39c690e13b0a/4d36f49c851cf3e1-16/s540x810/2a07625a3058ca72b762793dd3c20464a6cae7a4.jpg)
Dallas Kalevala hail from Finland and have been called fierce subarctic pop music. Whether they called themselves this I'm not sure. What it sounds like to me is a brilliant, varied pop album, slightly camp, with fantastic electronic production and some full on pounding dance beats. 9 brilliantly written tracks, that all sound different, but somehow sound like they come from the same band and belong together. There is a feeling Dallas Kalevala would be somewhat polarising. There's no way they'll be everyone's cup of tea (which suggests they are doing something right), but those that get them will love them a whole lot.

1. The Chemical Brothers “No Geography”
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8b68c0a6a5cdaea32152185477f5f40e/4d36f49c851cf3e1-34/s540x810/3abcc2e8b28f9387480cd592692f33684eb38508.jpg)
To make their 9th album The Chemical Brothers returned to the equipment they used to make their first two albums. And though "No Geography" doesn't sound like "Exit Planet Dust" or "Dig Your Own Hole", it feels like them. Consequently it is arguably their best album since them, but it is definitely their best since 2002's "Come With Us". It feels a bit old school, but also fresh and new. Tracks flow into each other seamlessly making the album feel like a complete body of work rather than a collection of tracks, and it is utterly brilliant throughout. Joyous.

Abel - 23 years old - King John’s Men
Resident of Nottingham Castle’s daughter
- About Abel
Abel grew up at the castle, the daughter of no one, she was taken in by the Sheriff. She bonded with Guy, became best friends with Rebecca, and fooled around a couple of times with Daniel. But contrary to Rebecca, Abel does know about life outside of the castle. She’s been to the market enough times, has a good sense of listening to stories, and generally can’t sit still for more than an hour. Although she calls herself one of King John’s Men, because that’s what’s expected of her, Abel is against most of what the Sheriff and Gisborne have in store for the people of Nottingham.
- Personality
Abel is very bubbly, lively, always on top of things, and always in for a good time. But she also unendingly curious, if she could she would leave the castle to go explore, but as a woman alone, Abel doesn’t like her chances. So she’ll wait for the day when Robin Hood comes to take her away.
- Connections
The Sheriff; despite how she doesn’t like his plans most of the time, Abel is grateful to the Sheriff and respects him immensely. Guy of Gisborne; she can talk around him all day, and he’ll never get angry at her. Sometimes she thinks of him as some awkward puppy with no class around the ladies. But she also sees how he is around Lady Marian. Rebecca; besties forever. Isabella; the woman inspires her, she has heard from mouth to mouth what Isabella is really up to, and she is both scared for her and jealous of her bravery. Daniel; Abel has fooled around with Daniel a couple of times, but she still can’t tell if he likes her back or not. Jasper; he always tries to avoid her. Lady Marian; she is a little jealous of how beautiful and elegant the woman is. Carter; he always tries to avoid her, too.

Jo Konta on verge of French Open last-16 but close friend Donna Vekic stands in her way
Jo & # 39; s clay days! Konta on edge of French Open last 16 but good friend Donna Vekic stands in her way
British No. 1 has listened to the radio to keep himself relaxed in Paris date
By Mike Dickson for The Mail on Sunday
June 2019 | Every morning listening to Smooth Radio and video connections with her dog, Bono, have been the only distraction for Jo Konta at Roland this week Garros.
Her ascetic routine, in which she cooks for herself every evening in her rented apartment, seems to do no harm at all.
The British number 1 is through to the fourth round of the French Open and plays the old opponent Donna Vekic on Sunday for a place in the quarterfinals.
<img id = "i-b5475bc4fff6aa56" src = "https://dailym.ai/2Z0bEOi -1_1559410065781.jpg "height =" 423 "width =" 634 "alt =" Johanna Konta enjoys her best run at the French Open as she prepares for the fourth round "enjoys her best run at the French Open as she stands prepares for the fourth round "
Johanna Konta enjoys her best run at the French Open as she prepares for the fourth round
In one week she never won to match the last 16, and a win on Sunday would restore her to & # 39; the world's top 20, that's where her
& # 39; we didn't get it. & # 39; We didn't get it, we didn't get it, he still had a puppy passport, and it's quite a procedure, "she said about her dachshund." I had the impression that you couldn't bring dogs here, but then i saw i Everyone brought dogs. So next year Bonus will definitely be on Roland Garros.
<img id =" i-1b0259a960242314 "src =" https://dailym.ai/2ELLUO4 "height =" 423 "width =" 634 "alt =" Konta plays impressive and showed her credentials by dismantling Viktoria Kuzmova "class =" blkBorder img-share "
Konta plays impressive and showed her credentials by dismantling Viktoria Kuzmo
The optimistic behavior of Konta is reflected in her tennis, and this has been by far the best season in clay soils, which has shown her two finals and a and has compiled a 13-3 match record. ]
Its shape is reminiscent of the runs she made to the final four of Wimbledon and the Australian Open, which is also a testament to the support team behind her of French coach Dmitri Zavialoff and beating partner Dan Smethurst, the former British pro from Manchester
Zavialoff is a thinker and strategist, while the great Smethurst is also a source of peace away from the court. As former world No. 1, Kim Clijsters – working here for Eurosport – pointed out that it is more important to get into the right mental zone for Konta than for most players. look at how she plays, it's like she thought, & said the Belgian. & # 39; But she works hard and that is something that I really admire. A few years ago she had great results at Wimbledon and with that much attention and pressure on her camera.
& # 39; That's the process to become a better tennis player – it's not just about improving your tennis, it's about learning more about yourself. & # 39;
An interesting statute about Konta is that she has won on all six occasions, she won the third round has made a Grand Slam, shows what a momentum player she is when she gets going. The demolition of Viktoria Kuzmova on Friday night further supported that.
It left British number 1 as follows: & I absolutely believe I can make it to the end, and I have been in two semifinals of Grand Slams, so I
Now she is confronted with a friend in world No. 24 Vekic, with whom she shares the same London-based management company Starwing Sports. The Croatian, who has trained in Middlesex in many of her teenage years, has had an interesting season because she said goodbye to her regular friend Stan Wawrinka earlier this year.
If it is something, she has improved her tennis, and this is probably so close to their previous six encounters, which are split 3-3.
The most memorable of these were the battles at the Center Court, two years ago when Konta won the 10-8 in a dramatic third en route to the semi-final and world ranking No. 4. It was during those few days that the All England Club was besieged by insects due to a combination of unusual heat and humidity.
& # 39; I remember the flying ants literally the most & # 39 ;, said Konta. & # 39; Prior to that, a few weeks before that we played in the final of Nottingham, so we had two heavy battles in a row and I expect the same again. & # 39;
Vekic, who has a big turn, is part of Konta & # 39; s tough quarter of the draw that also includes a former champion, Garbine Muguruza, and runner-up, Sloane Stephens. The one coming from them to the final four will be in good shape for the title.

How Meghan Markle won over Prince George and Princess Charlotte is truly great

How Meghan Markle won over Prince George and Princess Charlotte is truly great
Being a royal child definitely has its advantages. The first-class travel. The hangouts with Barack Obama in your pjs. Not to mention having an actual Queen for a great-grandmother.
But as if we needed another reason to be jealous of George and Charlotte, now it turns out their new aunt-in-law, Meghan Markle, loves cooking for them. Who wouldn’t want an invitation to one of those family dinners?
Meghan and Prince Harry, AKA the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, live in Nottingham Cottage, just a few doors up from Kate and William’s pad in Kensington Palace.
And it seems Meghan, who loves to cook, has been calling round to the Cambridges’ (as you do) to drop off treats for the kids, and it’s really helped them to bond. As strategies go, it’s a pretty safe bet – it can’t hurt to have the future king onside, right?
The latest addition to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s family is going to make you cry with jealousy
It’s a well-known fact that Meghan knows her way around the kitchen. The pair revealed in their engagement interview that Harry actually proposed while they were making roast chicken at home together. Total #Goals.
And now with a new puppy in the palace, there’s even more reason for George and Charlotte to want a visit from Aunty Megs and Uncle Haz.
Meghan, if you’re ever looking for anyone to sample your cooking, you know where we are.

March 9: Educate Yourself
"How are the Americans doing?" -our kindly old religion professor every class about midway through
"The Americans have accepted their imminent failure of this course and are spending their time doodling, checking social media, journaling, and writing postcards." -what I want to say
"The Americans are doing great." -what I actually say
I've gotten a lot of questions about how the Maltese University system works and this post is hopefully going to explain it all! First things first, yes, I do occasionally go to school! Between all of the international trips, weekend outings, and island adventures, I go to class for a total of 12 hours every week in addition to 2-3 hours of volunteering for credit. I purposefully made a schedule that only has class every Wednesday and Friday in order to give myself extra long weekends for traveling and fun- this was an incredibly wise decision. The walk to and from school is a 30-45 minute hilly death trap that involves dodging cars, busses, dog poop, and trying to avoid the temptations of neighbourhood Pastizzeria (a Maltese exclusive hole-in-the-wall shop filled with greasy variations of cheese, meat, and fried bread). My calves thank me for minimising the number of times I have to make the trek.

(The University is full of outdoor corridors and a labyrinth of above and below ground classrooms and hallways)

(Malta loves its stray cats. It’s become clear that this is the cats’ island and I’m just living on it. This guy decided to visit us in the cafeteria yesterday)
First of all, the University of Malta does not measure its courses in credits but ECTS. One ECTS is equal to half of an American credit. Most full time students take a max of 31-32 ECTS and my friends and I are taking 22 ECTS (11 US credits) and I simply can't imagine taking any more. Wednesday's I have class 12-2 and 3-5 (Paideia 450 and Malta & the Maltese: History and Culture) and Friday's I add a third course to my schedule from 10-12 (Sexuality, Theology, and Marriage).

(A very famous neolithic statue entitled “The Sleeping Lady”- we learned about it in class and then went to a museum where we got to visit it)

(A couple friends and I went to explore a neolithic temple on our day off class after learning about them- talk about applied learning!)
You read that right. Classes are two hours long and every Friday I get the joy of six hours of class. At Luther this wouldn't really warrant a complaint but classes at the University of Malta are lecture style (cue the spooky foreboding music). You truly don't know what you have until it's gone and I realised this when I lost my comfortable discussion based Luther classes. The two hours of class are sometimes broken up by a 5-10 minute break but usually consist of a very old man sitting behind a desk and reading in such a heavily accented voice that we only pick up on every third or fourth word. The classes will cumulate in a final exam or paper depending on what a professor prefers, but we have no homework or busy work during the week. I spend the majority of time in class writing postcards and filling my notes with doodles and caricatures of the content.

(Neanderthal pictured, not pictured are the subsequent doodles of the Normans, Spaniards, Sail Boats, and a random Scuba Diver)
In order to have enough credits to qualify as a full time student back at Luther, I have also started to earn “service credit” at the local Humane Society. Once a week for 2-3 hours I have to go play with dogs (sounds awful, huh?). I’ve gotten very connected to the other volunteers and residents of the shelter. The men, women, and gender fluid individuals who work there are kind hearted and eager to teach us the proper walking technique and tell us the stories of the dogs. There are usually approximately 14 dogs in the shelter, about two or three getting adopted or dropped off weekly. Some have been in the shelter for ten years, others only last a week. The dogs are never euthanised unless they are in considerable pain and never due to age, viciousness, or length of stay at the shelter- the one aggressive dog that literally took a chunk out of somebody’s arm once greets us daily with a happy tail wag and booming bark. I’ve never actually worked at a Humane Society before and this experience has changed me completely. The dogs choose me, nuzzling onto my lap, pressing their noses through the bars into my knuckles. When I take them on walks their big goofy smiles and flopping tails fill me with joy. I hear their stories of abandonment and abuse and try to fill their deep soulful eyes with love and compassion since they have been shown so little in their lives. I’m certainly getting more out of this experience than a few college credits.
(I hate cats. I’m allergic to them, but this guy chose me and I had to pet him. I feared the consequences if I didn’t)

(Boccu is a sweet Fox Terrier at the shelter. I accidentally mispronounced his name and apparently swore in Maltese to the other volunteers’ cheeky delight)
(we only got to meet Emmy once before she was adopted but she was such a happy puppy. All dogs and cats are spayed, neutered, and microchipped before they are adopted, and you can pay for your own pet to be taken care of for a mere 50 euro)
(I know I shouldn’t pick favorites, but Argo is by far my favorite. He was left behind by his owners when they moved to Italy. At 80 pounds, Argo likes to drag me along on walks and is looking forward to going to his forever home next week. There’s no way you can look into his eyes and not believe that dogs have souls)
In my free time when I’m not exploring some distant corner of the island, touring a national aquarium, or going on a wine tour (the contents of this last weekend), I’ve enjoyed sunbathing on the roof with a good book (I just finished “Gone Girl” after being hopelessly glued to it), long naps, walks along the seaside, and ample time spent in my journal.
(Top Left: Christ the Redeemer with local fish, Top Right: Cass the Redeemer with local fish, Bottom Left: Turns out I love sting rays. Absolutely beautiful, Bottom Right: I even enjoyed the reptile and amphibian room!)
I have picked up a wonderful habit of bullet journaling. For Christmas my godparents bought me a Moleskin bulleted journal that has quickly become my constant companion. It's a perfect balance of a planner, to do list, memory book, habit tracker, and journal. Completely customisable, I have been filling my journal with receipts, tickets, maps, funny stories, monthly layouts and weekly to do lists. It's a total source of distraction and comfort and will definitely end up being my most cherished souvenir. I hate to admit that have made the most progress on the pages during the two hour lectures (oops!).

(Here is my beloved journal. Slowly but surely I’m coating it in stickers from the places I’ve been. It’s my most constant companion)

(I’ve used the journal to collect ticket stubs, maps, boarding passes, and document memories- it will be my favourite souvenir)

(The journal is so multifunctional that I never have to pay attention in class! I fill the pages with whatever my heart desires. It took four hours of class on March 8 to make the International Women’s Day doodle!)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c7902ac28637d788bef7ca6470f09871/tumblr_inline_omjs5xhpUR1r5jk1c_540.jpg)
(I’ve planned out my entire month on this page. It ages me about 5 years every time I look at the sheer amount of stuff)

(this is an example of a to-do list. I have one per week and I only fill it out Wednesday and Friday. It makes sure that I stay on track and keep everything prioritised. Every week has a different colour scheme and layout)
So you just got a cool snapshot into an average week in Malta. This weekend we might be heading back to Gozo for the day on Saturday but strong winds might keep the ferries from running. Keep the locals in your hearts as a beloved landmark collapsed due to the crazy weather (RIP Azure Window). I head to England in two weeks on my first traveling adventure so feel free to shoot me any recommendations for the Nottingham area and London area! Much love, keep in touch, & let me know if you want a postcard!
Special shout out to Grandma & Grandpa Woods, Steve & Susan Woods, Dixie Forsberg, and Mom & Dad for the postcards, packages, and letters! I LOVE MAIL.
