This was once an idea for a one-shot but I don't know how to properly walk the line between platonic and romantic I'm going for, so I will just post the headcanon here
I think Juliana and Nemona trade a lot
But I mean like, a lot lot.
I think their definition of rivals doesn't just mean to grow alongside each other but also together. To compete as much as collaborate. Like, I don't know how to properly put it into words but the fact that they are becoming stronger with each other is as much a point as the competition and the growth themselves.
So the logical conclusion is that they trade pokemon. Not just for competitive strategy or even as a reminder of each other, but as a promise.
In trading they are saying: "train this pokemon alongside your team, so that a part of me always grows strong with you and I am always there to make you stronger".
Of course, there are certain pokemon they are too attached to trade (Koraidon, Pawmot, their starters), but eventually their teams become almost interchangable. Maybe with some team members they even forget which pokemon belonged to who originally if they don't see the original trainer ID. The other's strenght is so integral to themselves they become indistinguishable from their own identity.
There is a kind of comfort and also a kind of closeness in the way they trade that feels like giving away a part of themselves but is also as natural as breathing, because it's the one person who will always carry that part with them.

The other thing that I think I would want in an Annabeth Wayne AU that I don't think I've seen so far is Bruce being absolutely pissed at Athena.
It was bad enough with Talia and Damian, but Athena is a literal god of wisdom who should know better AND he doesn't even have the "culpability" of having slept with her.
She one hundred percent saw Batman, tactician of the Justice League, was drawn in by her aspect of the Goddess of Strategy, and proceeded to create a child without his consent, a daughter who she didn't even raise before the child became a weapon.
And like whatever else, however fucked up Damian was by his own training to become a child-weapon, at least Talia loved Damian.
Whereas Athena loves Annabeth in the way a Goddess loves, not the way a Person loves, and I don't think Bruce, whose entire identity is so fixated on his relationship with his own parents, would recognize that as love at all.
And, like, Talia put Damian through a lot of shit. I think Bruce would be angry there too. But when push came to shove, she at least at some point brought him to Bruce because she thought it was in her son's best interests.
Athena actively lead Annabeth away from Bruce and into the streets at the age of seven, which Bruce would never see as in her best interest, whatever Athena's godly perspective is, however badly he reacted after Jason's death, even though he couldn't see (and dismissed the idea of) the spiders and the monsters. She was seven. In the streets of Gotham.
Athena let Annabeth fight a major role in two wars back to back without being there to train her or protect her or love her or even advise her. Athena advocated for the cold blooded murder of the other children who had actually tried to keep his daughter safe. Athena sent Annabeth against Arachne when Athena's children have universally died on that quest for a thousand years.
Athena let Bruce think he had gotten Annabeth killed because of his own inability to handle his grief. Let him think his daughter was dead or worse for years. Would have let him keep thinking that if the Fates didn't have other plans.
And just, in true fashion for all of my ideas on a PJO x DC crossover, everyone really comes out more traumatized than before. This includes Bruce.
Because now he wasn't just used unknowingly for a child just once, but twice. And in both cases he's going to have to live forever with the guilt of not having been able to protect his kids from what their other parent wanted to make of them
(On top of all the ways he has directly failed them and made any complexes worse, of course )
#bruce wayne#annabeth chase#annabeth wayne#athena#pjo x dcu#dcu x pjo#again I have to reiterate that I actually do think Athena loves her daughter#I just think that to a human a god's love is inevitably going to look cruel#because they don't and can't love in the same way#giving your child opportunity for Kleos and sending them to a teacher is a love to a goddess#whereas a human parent might never want their child to fight or suffer at all#and even with Bruce's whole Batman and Robin situation#he a) still felt guilt and went back and forth over it multiple times#and b) he was at least trying to guide them and accompanied them into the field and deliberately tried to give them whatever tools they#needed to be both moral and safe#Athena doesn't see a difference between what she did and Bruce's crusade but he absolutely doe#this post is obviously very much more Bruce's POV of course#Athena would have her own but I am biased#'love the way a goddess loves not the way a person loves' - but Rev aren't the gods people#Not fully#I don't think they can be; they're too vast#Behind their personalities they're all personification#so yes and no but not enough#as for bruce reacting badly after Jason's death#I generally don't think he *hurt* her which I've seen some choose to write based on him hitting Dick#but someone in fic wrote a HC that he blamed her at first bc she knew Jason was sneaking out and didn't say and I took that and ran with it#& after his initial outburst he freezes her out bc his anger scares him & he thinks keeping her at a distance will protect her from that#not knowing that she's already internalized that guilt AND already felt prior to this that Bruce was abandoning her in favor of being Batma

i love how the main message in the wolf hall trilogy is how power, no matter how humble the person is, will corrupt and will make them a mirror of the people they hated. thomas spends a lot of time speaking poorly about the boleyns, the howards, gardiner, henry, etc., but he starts to mirror their personalities. he becomes cutthroat, treacherous, cruel, yet thinks he's untouchable.
what i don't think the message is, is that a low born man shouldn't come into power. because arguably, he was the only one there who could do the job right.
it is just interesting to see how he's transformed and essentially doesn't even realize it. but he becomes a darker, colder person and he starts to mirror that.

These asks are fun!
Dear Scott, do you like improvisation or playing composed pieces better? And what is your favourite piece / Style?
(my guesses would be improvisation and woodland fairy music - I couldnt think of a more random ask but if an idea comes i'll send it!)
At some point my mom tried to teach me how to read music and I found it annoying and frustrating and distracting and generally unpleasant. She tried to say that reading sheet music would help me build a foundation, something something something - I was very young and my attention span was not great back then.
I ended up doing what I consider to be the far easier and more reasonable thing, which was to play every note of my family's piano one at a time, over and over again, and memorize them to their corresponding note. I did this for about two hours a day, every day, for maybe a year when I was five-ish. After that I was pretty good at learning pretty much any composition by ear as long as I could hear it on a loop for an hour or two. Mom brags that I have perfect pitch and I don't think she's wrong but I do think that's a weird thing to brag about to people.
Liszt is fine but really only interesting for one hand at a time. Something like Ryuichi Sakamoto scratches the itch but it doesn't really allow you to be as wiggly while you play as I end up being.
Ragtime is best across the board. Pretty much everyone I say that to gives me a look because the music I play with my old band is much more rock/cabaret adjacent, but that's because I compose based on lyrics and I'm a guy with strong emotions. If I'm just playing the piano for three or five hours straight, it's absolutely ragtime.
No one gives it the same credit as the complexity of classical or jazz because it's a form of complexity that's born out of a love for playing music.
Yeah, complex polyrhythmic compositions are cool. Literally everyone knows that and the only reason why they all aren't also delving into the creative milleau of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is because of either scheduling conflicts or a lack of access to quality instruments.
The ego of some of these people is infuriating. Oh, you're a master of alternating octave triads? Can you make music that people enjoy? Can you play piano to create a fun experience as opposed to get a bunch of strangers to fawn at how cool and talented you are?
Can people dance to the music you play? Can they even bob their head?
You can bring virtually any song on piano into the ragtime genre if you play the melody through octaves, add syncopation, and throw in a bunch of notes from the chord to fill space. It automatically makes every song better and anyone who disagrees is at best wrong and at worst very boring.

y'all get this one early <3
alternate versions under the cut!
I've recently gotten super into the Markiplier cinematic universe, so expect a lot more markiplier ego fanart to come
also! here's my y/n design I'm quite fond of em
anyway I highly encourage you to go watch Mark's choose your own adventure stuff, Heist is a good place to start, lots of light-hearted fun, and In Space With Markiplier is my favourite thing atm, it's still very fun and entertaining but also darker and much more serious at times, it handles some heavier subjects. both are super cool!!
