One of my favourite things about all three Nosferatu films is how there is such heavy emphasis on disease and plague, which is quite meaningful when you consider the history behind it.
You don't need to be a scholar to know that bubonic plague, which has always been a source of terror and destruction for the peoples of Europe even before and after it crafted its magnum opus with the Black Death, and in all three versions, you'll see imagery that calls back to these dark times.
From legions of rats crawling off ships to white crosses adorning infected houses and countless coffins being paraded down the streets. You even see this in Nosferatu's design as well as in the 1922 and 1979 films, Orlok had pointed ears and fangs on his front incisors rather than his canines, much like a rat! And in the 2024 film, his body is adorned with the symptoms of the illness.
And that's what makes Orlok stand out from other versions of Count Dracula (and such a memorable and terrifying character): he's more than just another embodiment of pure evil, he's the embodiment of a continent's greatest trauma!

Part of the magic behind our NOSFERATU: A Symphony Of Horror is how every scene digitally mixes us new actors and dialogue with the same scene from the original silent film backdrops (as seen here with me in front of a green screen and lit to match the same set Max Schrek played on in 1922).
AVAILABLE NOW on Amazon Prime and AppleTV.
NOT TO BE CONFUSED with the other Nosferatu coming to cinemas in December.

How are you gonna complain that Nosferatu was too sexual as if Gothic literature didn't originate from social rebellion? As if Bram Stoker's novel didn't have sexual undertones? As if Nosferatu didn't have sexual undertones already? I understand if you didn't expect such upfront sexuality, but don't hate on the movie for it. If it's not for you, that's okay! Taboo topics aren't for everyone; Just remember that Gothic literature is meant to be taboo. A social rebellion. Expressing the dark, barbaric, animalistic, and shunned aspects of human nature. I haven't watched the film YET; But I have taken a course SPECIFICALLY on Gothic literature {and passed}, read Bram Stoker's Dracula, watched both original Nosferatu's multiple times, and immersed myself in Gothic literature for a while now. Gothic horror IS sexual in its essence. It's grotesque and disgusting. Revolting and shameful. That's the point. It's also sensual, emotional, despondent, and FULL of metaphors. It鈥檚 EROTIC. If the genre isn't for you, or if certain aspects aren't for you, that's okay. Everyone has their limits, everyone deserves their boundaries.

ship these two ever since I watched Nosferatu so my h/c is that when Friedrich is looking at the scars on Thomas' body he just feels devastated for the man he loves so he gently touches his skin in the hope that his touch could bring some comfort for Thomas but he knows he can't.
