So I have to write a press release about a crisis for a fictional organization and I'm allowed to be as unrealistic as I want so long as its in AP format and I show off my crisis communication skills. I am basically treating this as a chance to write fanfic but I don't know what organization to chose so Tumblr gets to pick

I spent that night trying to come up with a roster for the Company, to see who we had left. We'd come into Belgium with 121 men and officers plus 24 replacements. That's 145 total. We were going out with 63. Guarnere was badly wounded and Hoobler died accidentally. Joe Toye had lost his leg. Among the dead were Herron, Mellet, Sowosko, Kenneth Webb, Harold Webb, Alex Penkala, and Skip Muck. Our month in Belgium cost us one good officer, Buck Compton. And one bad one, Norman Dike. But we gained a good one in the end, so I guess we came out ahead.

I WON'T TELL YOU HOW TO LIVE // EAT AND EAT 'TIL YOU GET SICK // I WON'T TELL YOU HOW TO LIVE // FEED THE HABIT LIKE A BLOATED TICK!
#spiderman#earth 1961#my art#otto octavius#norman osborn#SO. little context here is this is based off the circus-p song misery loves company!#and it gives me the specific vibes of like.#my norman and otto are both kinda jerks who use the people around them for their gain#its just that norman doesnt try to dress it up as if its some sort of act of goodwill really.#sure he HIDES it but when hes 'the goblin' hes very transparent about how hes cutthroat for power#meanwhile otto acts as if he's some saint#but he's really manipulating vulnerable people at their lowest point to be loyal to him#so the mocking chorus of 'misery loves company' is norman pretty much telling otto to his face that he knows what the sinister six is.#and it sure as hell isn't a happy family.#EHEHE UH YEAH [runs off]

Going back to that thing I was talking about yesterday, yeah I absolutely firmly believe that Harry spending his life working for OSCORP is the worst possible ending for him (not necessarily in a bad writing way, more in a dating sim “bad ending” sort of way) and this time I’m going to explain why.
Harry’s ending makes sense and manages to be bittersweet despite his death because, as is far better explained in a video I’ll try and remember to link, Harry’s arc is about identity in many ways. He lives most of his life as an extension of Norman, only doing what he would want and centering his choices around him and what he believes will finally please him. But that ending has him changing that, at last he’s looking at his life and deciding what he wants out of it for himself and nothing but and he chooses the friends he actually loves. It’s bittersweet because even if he gives up his life, he’s finally made the choice of his identity for himself and what he’s chosen is to be good, heroic, and he’s chosen loving the people who actually care for him back over being an extension of a person who doesn’t. That’s very simplified but I’m trying to be brief here.
But spending the rest of his life alive but working for OSCORP implies he never gains that in a different way than running off and dying for Peter. He hasn’t found a different way to find self actualization, he’s still lacking in his own identity and his freedom in what it is. He’s never been able to go and sit with himself and decide what he wants.
OSCORP is his father’s baby, Norman’s dream, not his. These movies reference and establish that Harry has absolutely no interest in anything scientific over and over again, just as much as they reference the fact he’s bad at anything involving it. It’s not what he wants, there’s no world where it makes sense that he would choose that for himself if he had the choice and wasn’t just acting for his father and what he believes he would want. It’s not even as though you can reasonably believe he would find joy in it later as he was working because Harry is actively really bad at the job too. His entire tenure is shown to be immensely difficult and full of mistakes that he’s going to be the one taking the fall for.
If he’s spending his whole life doing that, doing something he doesn’t like and isn’t good about at a company he doesn’t care about, that implies he’s never had that chance at self actualization and deciding for himself. He’s never been able to, without any other pressures pushing him to make choices he wouldn’t otherwise, decide what he would want. He simply spent his whole life, the only life he has, living to please and be another piece of another person. It is infinitely more tragic to me to imagine wasting the only life he has doing something that makes him unhappy and he never wanted than to die happily giving himself up for someone he actually cared about.
It’s not even as though he needs to work to maintain his lifestyle or anything of the sort. I’m no expert on business, but I don’t think you can inherit a CEO position at a publicly traded company. It’s likely Harry was hired on for appearances, but he was only ever head of special projects, which sort of feels like the actual board actually in charge of deciding the head of their actually not at all owned by Norman company shoved him into a role they wouldn’t be too fucked over if he messed up while also still keeping up appearances by hiring the dead founders kid, which just sort of makes it sadder. Even regardless of that, what Harry likely actually inherited were Norman’s stocks in OSCORP which likely made him just as much or more money than the actual job he’s shown doing. Harry is shown to maintain about the same lifestyle at what is no doubt likely a much lower paying position than Norman’s—most of that money is likely Norman’s investments, investments Harry doesn’t have to keep. That money can probably do a lot for him, even if he wants to just mess around and do things that will make him close to no money, something that should be his right as much as it would be anyone’s if he never had the chance to do something like that as a teenager.
Harry’s agency in making the choice to work for OSCORP really only means so much in terms of his personhood to me when there would hardly be a Harry to make those choices.

*This is not all of Easy Co. just some of the more recognizable names. If I missed anyone that you would like to see listed please message me and I would be glad to add him.
**I was also thinking about adding more info to this list and/or making a separate post with additional details like awards/medals, how and where they were wounded (if at all), and maybe some personal details like where they were born/died, their family (parents, siblings, spouse, children), what they did after the war (if they survived) stuff like that (though that might be a separate list idk yet). I would love to hear your opinion and if you'd like to see something like this. Basically just one large masterpost! Message me and tell me your thoughts!!!! I'm open to ideas!

Fell asleep last night thinking about an au where Norman recovers from being the Green Goblin, but he ended up doing some really creepy stuff beforehand including attacking Peter as he was Peter Parker and not Spidey and then keeping him locked up for several days (Peter ends up with a few scars from it)
Norman avoids any jail time because he’s rich and revealed somewhat of the truth, that a medicine he was working on for himself had terrible side effects, no one knows about him being the Goblin, they only know about him attacking Peter
Peter is able to successfully get a restraining order against him tho, but Norman’s a jackass who keeps hanging out on the fringe of the distance he’s supposed to be at and speaking/yelling at Peter, stuff like “when you finally forgive me and drop this restraining order, I’ll be here with open arms,” and “Uncle Ben wouldn’t want you to hold this hate in your heart” and because of the previous mentioned richness, Peter can’t do anything unless Norman steps too closely
And tbh Peter mostly got the restraining order because he was worried it would look suspicious if “Peter Parker” didn’t seem too badly affected by things, since he was used to being attacked by Norman as Spiderman
But now that he’s keeping Norman away, even if he still hangs around, and he has visible scars from it that everyone can see, and everyone knows about the court case and what happened and keep asking him if he’s okay, he’s…starting to acknowledge that it all was traumatizing, not just the kidnapping event but the whole thing with the Green Goblin, that he was just pretending it wasn’t because he’s a hero, and people seeing how badly it’s been affecting him is actually healing in a way
#part of the au#was that Peter runs Parker Industries#and although most people are on Peter’s side#every time there’s a science event the people who set it up complain at him and try to get him to drop his restraining order against Norman#because they’re going to invite Norman#he’s rich and runs a science company#but they also have to invite Peter because even if it’s a small company he’s always putting out amazing inventions#and it makes it difficult for the organizers to plan it with the two of them always staying a certain amount away#so they’re dicks.#and Miles was upset that people could just harass Peter about his restraining order and that he’d have to deal with someone who hurt him#at this event#so he gets his dad involved as some unofficial security guard since Norman probably paid off all security at the event#which was really sweet of Miles but now Peter has no way of escaping as Spiderman#and then I fell asleep before figuring out how he’d get around that because if Miles is also at the event then his dad#would be paying attention to him too especially if Norman Osborn is nearby#so that’s why this section isn’t in the body of the post#I love Norman Osborn but sometimes gotta acknowledge he was a creep who greatly traumatized Peter#Peter Parker#Norman Osborn#Spiderman#spider man#spider-man#the green goblin
