Im just here thinking about your (hijak) post and sylvan being French and thinking which specific fey descendence would speak kreyol. I think it's not elves but my brain is very mush to go thru all dnd races to find which other have the fey antecesor quality but it's a tought I need to share with.

ooo yeah! if we’re talking specifically haitian creole, i think it could make sense for that to be the equivalent of sea elvish.

creole is technically the classification of mixing languages (like spanglish as i mentioned). i just learned that as i was looking more into creole, so there’s a little fun fact!!

there are a lot of french-based creole languages. it’s tied to the same reason why there are a lot of roman-based languages (aka the romantic languages); imperialism and conquest. there’s Tayo, which is spoken in New Caledonia (off the coast of australia), and lots of languages across the Indian Ocean collectively known as Bourbonnais Creole Languages.

i think haitian creole or tayo would be a good equivalent to sea elvish, just since they are island nations with historical cultures tied to the sea.

if we want to talk more about elvish in different cultures, here’s my thoughts:

- Eladrin elvish is the closest to French. In D&D, they’re the closest to the sylvan elves, so their elvish would not differ too much.

- Shadar-kai are elves from Shadowfell. In lore, they would speak both Elvish and Abyssal. I don’t have much thought for this, but if we were to build off NaDDPod’s southern gothic for Shadowfell, you could make Shadar-kai Elvish the equivalent of Missouri French.

- Drow elvish could be Tayo, only if you want to play into the Oceania/Australia joke of Drow elves being from “down under”. Other than that I don’t have much.

Lore

Tempest was created by accident when his parents were having relations and Scourge imbued Mephiles with too much chaos energy, resulting in a crystalline polyp growing from him. Not quite sure what to do with it, but seeing that it was moving, Scourge and Mephiles took care of it almost like a plant to see what would happen and soon, the crystals hardened into something resembling a hedgehog that began acting like a toddler. Scourge named the toddler crystal Tempest, which just seemed to complete the creation process and soon, a fully fledged hedgehog was beginning to bounce around their penthouse.

Tempest is an only child and is spoiled terribly by his parents, although Mephiles pretends he doesn’t. As he grew, he found himself drawn to the tech world, tinkering with robots starting at 10, creating his first app when he was 15, and going from there. He creates tech, gear, and software for his dads’ company that helps them crush all competition and enjoys the freedom to do whatever he wants in his free time. Usually, he torments his peers with his latest, more unhinged creations. Both Tails and Dr. Eggman find him amazingly annoying.

Lol I feel a little bad giving him such a "normal" backstory compared to Paradox and her sisters, but maybe this works for his vibe. He's not that complicated, he's just a rich kid🤣

Day 20: Frost

It’s too quiet…

When I was younger I loved winter. I thought the darkness and thick sweaters were cozy but the older I get the more I love summer.

Understand that I live in a Nordic country where winters are dark and frost/snow makes it difficult for me to get to work, autumn is cold and wet, and spring is slightly warmer and wet with added thunderstorms that make my bike rides to work dangerous. The summers are often wet too but at least the rain is warmer, the days long and bright and I can sit in my garden.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t HATE the other seasons. I’m just so tired of sitting in the dark shivering from the cold because I have bad blood circulation in my hands and feet and the frostbite I got years ago still hurt when I’m cold. I’ve definitely turned into the type of person who prefers to be a little too warm rather than a little too cold. It’s crazy how much the heated blanket my housemate got me for my birthday helped my overall mood this year. Now I just need the sun to at least still be up at 6 pm.
