This is mainly if Zen knew about the mc + their amnesia when he's already at utira library (im going to say the infernal grunt that tries to kill Jaern at the start of the game but ends up dead is the one that informed him, phones technically exist so maybe he was able to tell him something when he saw the first augur's kid looking lost af and not even knowing who or what the second augur was).

Anyways .

Even if the mc has amnesia they have already learnt about the cults and Zenith does know this especially because them+Nora+Damian come to the library asking about the prophecy, so he wouldn't be able to mention anything cult-related.

He would literally just be very nice to the player and gain their trust that way just like he did w the people living in Oranos (and even if not as extreme also Utira). His popularity among the people would also make him seem more trustworthy so he wouldnt have a hard time gaining the players trust— He would also try to separate the mc from Nora+Damian and probably make those two seem like bad people so that the mc stays away from them.

He wouldn't really need his powers at all either, if he wanted the mc to do something specific he could always just:

a: ask favours from the mc as exchange for favours he'd done for them (like helping them find the prophecy!)

b: gaslight them even more (?

c: peer pressure them into doing whatever tf he wants (since he CAN control everyone else)

Probably at some point he would slowly introduce them to the cult, not sure how he would manage that but oh well, he is a cult leader so definitely not the first time he's done that.

And fun fact: Even if the mc is immune to his powers bcs of Nyx, they arent immune to actual manipulation tactics so l o l . If Zenith knew they'd be immune to mind control from the start i can imagine he would've just gone the manipulating (tm) route.

i saw ur post about talking about teenage girl plane crash media and i am so ready to talk about yj and the wilds any day of the week!! i've been thinking lately about whether or not the wilds girls would've survived in a more yellowjackets like situation (unlike the one they're in where they're being provided for-- however minimally). i feel like dot def would've taken on nat's role, leah would've taken on lottie's, and i feel like rachel would have taken on shaunas.

ive also thought about this! i dont think leah would have lotties spiritual side i think since shes so suspicious the whole time in the wilds that she’d be most like taissa and not take it seriously at all. i think rachel also wouldnt believe any of it.

i cant see the wilds girls going full cannibalism tho. if anything maybe itd be a jackie situation where someone already died naturally and they were so starving that they felt like they had no choice but i cant see them full on hunting each other the way they do in yellowjackets bc they all end up loving each other so much, unlike yj where they start out knowing and loving each other until their hunger takes over their feelings. but now that im typing this im realizing it wouldve been REALLY interesting if the guys did. that would be crazy. i think the story with the guys had a lot more potential and i really wish it was better and didnt get canceled.

oposites attract: for starters, winifred is a hell of a lot older than me ajhsjd. iirc shes about 300 years older??? so shes basically an antique /aff. she talks a lot in elizabethan english, so its a lil hard for me to understand what shes talking about sometimes, but ive gotten a lil better at understanding her. shes really bossy and grumpy, but its mostly cuz of her having to be the mom to her two lil sisters on top of dealing with people bullying her

shes pretty vain, but im under the assumption that shes like that to attempt to hide how insecure she actually is about her apperance. of course, shes incredibly gifted with all sorts of magic, especially spellwork and electrokinesis (y'know how she can use lightning to attack and stuff?? thats what that is shdbdb)

crossover: i think at first, winnie wouldnt get along with val at all. theyre polar opposites and winnie would most likely be the one to try to fight val. val on the other hand, doesnt quite get along at first considering how winifred and her sisters are with eating children. they'd both be fascinated by what the other's capable of doing, with winnie and her magic and val with her science and tech

eventually, i think the two would be on good terms. not friends but they def dont hate each other either. it'd take a long while tho

with nora, idk why but i feel like winnie would be legit scared of nora. she'd try her damndest not yo show it of course, but theres something about nora she cant help but be scared by. to be fair, nora's a dullahan, and theyre essentially a sort of harbringer of death, and considering how often (three times so far) winifred and her sisters have died, im sure coming face to face with something like nora would keep her on edge.

nora, on the other hand, is legit really curious about winifred. she doesnt have a whole lot of experience interacting with other humans outside of a really small handful of them, let alone an actual witch. while she is aware of winnie and her sisters tending to eat children, nora's fairly certain she wouldnt try to eat her students, mostly cuz shes to scared of her to even attempt to go after her students (and is also scared of her students in general sndnd)

Okay so I FINALLY feel like I'm settling in after move-in day and having syllabus week, I have a little free time to update you guys on stuff!!

The first few days leading up to orientation were crazy, sure, but like you wouldnt believe wtf happened DURING orientation. First off, I hit up the ppl i met at the cafe so we could go together (willow also dragged her roomie along and she totally promised she was cool but she was sooooo lame lmao), but we ended up being the last to arrive somehow. Turns out orientation here is, like, a small group activity and not some big boring thing in an auditorium so i ended up working on this weird group scavanger hunt in the library with the same ppl. idk, the statues in the room with the glowing pool of magic light ("the snarl"???) told us something about working together and being graded on teamwork. Since when is orientation fucking graded anyways???

We split up even more into two groups since we were running late so we could tackle different clues at the same time. I managed to pawn stick-in-the-mud and frat boy off on each other (with mettie as necessary collateral damage but whatevs im sure he didnt mind). I'm just happy i got to be with willow who so far seems like the most normal person i've met since the cafe. I guess that nora girl and that cute owl boy i met today were pretty normal too. Wait wait wait did i even tell you guys about my roommate? He was, like, dumpster-diving on day 1 so i did NOT get the best first impression on the weirdo, but at least he's letting me use his closet since he only owns like 3 shirts and 2 pants.

Anyways back to the scavenger hunt! It was kinda cute but also super lame in that way school-sponsored events always are. Muk had another terrible time in the cafe (but got a, like, bag of holding out of it- which i am SO jealous of tbh!!), i befriended a bush (no not like that, it was, like, an actual sentient bush) that gave me a cute morphing plushie, and then willow got a lantern for getting on stage! From what i gathered, mettie and the others spent most of their time playing with the magic light pool in the first room? It made them trip balls or smthn. idc what mettie says- i dont think microdosing on distilled wild magic is gonna make thad a cooler person.

I think they did get some health potions from it tho, and then they found some kitschy little school pennants from their other clue. Mettie got enough for all of us, tho he brought me a prismari one and like...idk. I'm still not sure about all that stuff. I have like a year to figure it out tho so 🤷‍♀️

Okay that was all normal stuff but HERE is where it got CRAZY! We were just about to regroup and finish our scavenger hunt, when out of NOWHERE this chest came to life as a mimic and chomped down on this poor little gnome lady! And then a chair started coming to life too! Everyone was panicking and tbh i kinda wanted to gtfo too but idk, my group just, like...rushed in to help her so what was i gonna do? Make myself look bad by leaving them all behind in public? Not on my first day lol

tbh i might as well have just run away though, bc finance bro immediately drops a sleep spell and ofc me, mettie, and the gnome (CURRENTLY BEING DIGESTED) passed out and the two mimics were, like, totally fine.

idk what happened while i was sleeping, but once i woke up muk was totally passed out and bleeding everywhere, but at least they managed to get the other student out of the mimic's mouth before that. Anyways i sawed that motherfucker in half and then sawed the legs off the other stupid chair-mimic. I mean, dont get me wrong, it was def a group effort to take them down for sure. Aside from the sleep spell i think we have a kinda rhythm going together, considering that was our third fight before classes had even started 🙄 🙄 🙄

And then finally a professor showed up to help! She apologized and told us these things just kinda happen sometimes because of the snarl thing in the library, like it causes wild magic surges and stuff. She took the gnome lady to the infirmary and gave us all a platinum piece for our troubles (she said it wasn't a bribe, but ngl its working on me anyways).

After all that, our first week went pretty smoothly- we're all gonna meet up to go to the career/club fair at the end of the week! It sounds like most of us do not wanna keep being baristas after what happened lol We also went for boba and a lil mall trip this week, since muk hadn't ever done either of those things before (they were homeschooled!) and i am always up for getting myself a little treat. Even better when someone else gets the little treat for me! I can't believe mettie got my boba order right on the first try. Like...oh, whatever. I totally agree with the extra content opinion you recently reblogged.. I’m of the mindset (which might not be your exact mindset) that extra content is canon when written by the author.. so the lack of ilys and smiles I can accept as a natural Andrew recovery… and I agree that a lot of people struggle with that bc that’s not their version of progress.. but my one hottake on the extra content (which I might be remembering incorrectly it’s been a while) is that I disagree with the “they never hug” thing.. I think that was in there and idk I cannot wrap my head around them never hugging.. RARELY hugging sure but sometimes there are scenarios in my brain where they would hug.. even if brief or in extreme situations, or barely ever.. I do see them eventually working up to hugging each other tho.. thoughts?

yeah i get you there, i dont quite agree with 'everything the author writes is canon', id probably only include the actual published books myself, but also as someone who primarily writes au and isnt doing like. actual literary crit theres a point where i dont really...care whats canon or not canon. i cherrypick both canon and the ec looking for ideas for what would make sense in the context of my current au and then fill the gaps with my own stuff

that being said, as someone who is touch-repulsed and aroace, a lot of the ec really resonated with me because i will never and can never have a conventional future and while i will obviously never complain to any individual person about their interpretation just because their happiness looks different from mine it does sometimes feel a bit disappointing when so many interpretations tend to push the characters into being more conventional. i like that nora gave them a strange, abnormal future and that she also said they wouldnt have it any other way because they are happy! they love each other and they are happy but these are not the words or ways they say that!

as for hugging, iirc she said they would in certain situations (ie the heat of the moment after winning a game) and im inclined to think they would find a lot of comfort together and that yes, that would occasionally take the form of hugs. sometimes i picture a big baltimore-esque scene where one thought the other was gonna die and theres a big physical embrace but then again we know in canon how they dealt with that and it was controlled but extremely charged physical touches and very intense dialogue. the apres-olympic win scene nora described is probably the one that fits the best with them in my mind.

but mostly i picture them having a lot of more casual just. being near each other and making a point to be touching. i personally much prefer leaning on people or just draping my legs over somebody as a form of physical affection as opposed to a Hug which is a Thing. so this is me hardcore projecting but i like to think of andrew and neil just on the couch, shoulders against each other, maybe one of them puts an arm over the other so its more comfortable, barely even paying attention to each other just being pressed together and for once not worrying about it.

and then sometimes also doing the thing where they sit on opposite sides of the room and everyone is like ???? are they fighting??? and meanwhile andrew and neil are just slow blinking at each other like cats

The "Team RWBY is to blame for all of this" crowd really hasn't paid attention to the show, huh? I mean, its not surprising. Id suggest rewatching the volume because then you would notice details that were already there before the protagonists arrived to Mantle.

- Mantle's security system hasnt been updated, while Atlas had a new and safer system, and thus Mantle was left vulnerable to hacks

- The protective wall that surrounds Mantle hasnt been fixed for ages, thats why grimm were able to get in the city, and that is what Robyn was stealing supplies for from Ironwood, she wanted to protect her people from being exposed to grimm

- When the gang is arrested in chapter 1, the Ace-Ops take away their weapons, saying its an "unauthorized use of weapons" even tho Qrow was a licensed Huntsman. This means that using weapons to protect yourself was illegal, people who didnt have Licenses werent allowed to fight back against the grimm

- All the camera bots that fly around Mantle, recording every activity. The people were sick of being monitored every living second.

-Ironwood calling Mantle "a few city blocks", RWBYJNROQ calling him out on his neglect, especially Nora, soo many times, trying to steer him in the right direction to start and care for his citizens

- Ironwood refusing to give Robyn a chance and negotiate on the situation in Mantle, if he had reached out and tried to come to an agreement, then maybe she wouldnt habe stolen from him

- This wasnt even counting Watts and Tyrion's activity, murdering people to frame Ironwood, framing Penny in a massacer, hacking Mantle's security, hacking the election so Jacques could win, getting into Atlas security cuz of Jacques, this all lead to where the plot is now

-And as @yang-did-everything-right pointed out, even if RWBY hadnt kept a secret form Ironwood and if Blake and Yang hadnt told Robyn about Amity, Ironwood would've still turned on them because they would have disobeyed his order in leaving Mantle to be destroyed. Because as Huntresses, it is their duty to protect everyone that cant protect themselves. The "greater good" for Huntsmen and Huntresses is giving up your own life to save anyone that you can.

TL;DR: Ironwoods neglect and handling of Mantle lead to where the plot is now. If he had cared and updated the security system, Watts and Tyrion wouldn't have been able to hack Mantle and add to the distress in the city. Stop blaming team RWBY for the actions of adults.

honestly if we get a fatou/kieu my and ava season i wouldn’t mind having a constantin season. it would interesting to have a season about a character who everyone hates and what his shame is. + druck is great at redemption stories. also it would be closure for nora and constantin to become friends. i just think it would be cool to see what druck would have to do to make a character the fandom hates one they love like we usually do our mains.

(1) nora and constantin don't need "closure" because nora very clearly doesn't care about him and is satisfied with like,,,, not talking to him lmaooo. She barely remembers he exists. Whether or not the fans accept the apology, nora was clearly satisfied with it so.

(2) he doesn't need "redemption." None of the characters except for ava have any issue or character tension because of him... not even nora. And they will almost certainly be addressing ava's issues with him in her season, so.... I want him to have depth, but I personally don't see a reason to give him a primary place in the story more than what he already is. For me, he is about as relevant as Ingrid and her remakes are (save s4 storylines). He's a backstory to nora and the insta's. That's the depth they've given him. There has been nothing in his character design (imo) to indicate that the writers intend to do anything more with him on an individual or "main character" level. and frankly I think expecting him to have a redemption arc IS because he's the conventionally attractive white boy they threw into the background, a character design we are SO used to being a main character or important in some way.

(3) if it's between constantin or literally any of the other boys they've introduced? Almost all of whom are men of color? Yeah. Constantrain has no written personality traits. He has no identity outside of the friend group. That's my biggest criticism of his character. This means anything they wanted to do with his character - and I do mean ANYTHING- they could give it to a minority character with complete and total ease. Mailin and Constantin make up about 50% of the white characters they've introduced this season, and they are very obviously the least developed of all the new gen. To side step around ANY of the characters of color (ALL OF WHOM HAVE BEEN GIVEN STORYLINES/SUBPLOTS) to give another season to a white character would be unnecessary and questionable writing to me.

(4) if we get a constantin season we most likely wouldnt get an ismail season... So that's another no from me lmao

the challenge of giving the entire fandom an enemies to lovers relationship with a main is definitely a fun one tho
