This ol’ gal keeps me moving. Just turned 387,800 miles. Looks pretty good for a ten year old vehicle, too (most folks are amazed when I tell how old and how many miles) and so far has been the most dependable vehicle I’ve ever owned, winter or summer. . This short trip, a few hundred miles, so far is registering 20.2mpg (swipe for pic) on the DIC, even hauling my heavily-loaded trailer, though I know the real mileage is more likely a bit less. I’ll see what it averages over the next few fill-ups. Hard to figure this time of year, traffic being what it is and more stop-n-go on the highways and a lot more construction zone slow-downs. Over the river and through the woods... . Hauling this week’s recycling and trash to the local dumpster station. This is the route I take; through the woods, over a bridge, quick trail through more woods to the shore then over a nice long sandy beach, then up along a terrific marshy area on a great up and down woods trail. Lots of quiet riding through a variety of terrain. Quiet bike means seeing more wildlife. . I generate what most may think is a surprisingly small amount of trash but manage somehow to accumulate a fair amount of recyclables...uhh, mostly cans. Have to have a cold beer or three when out in the woods or coming in from paddling around gorgeous lakes. I think it’s the law in NH, yeah, I think I read that somewhere. . I also pick up a fair amount of trash that others have left behind. All part of @overlandbound ’s #trailguardian program and the principles of #leaveitbetterthanyoufoundit, #leavenotrace and #treadlightly. It’s our world, folks, let’s keep it nice. Pretty simple and easy, really. . My Sondors X ebike has proven to be one fine packmule, exercise machine, errand runner, and head-turner. I’m constantly being stopped to answer questions about the bike. A good looking gal a third to half my age watched me zip by silently and yelled “Yo Dude, nice bike!” with a big grin and a thumbs up. Ready for the Desert . Filled up my fresh water tank with twenty-two gallons in Study Butte for $2.20. Bought groceries and supplies in Fort Davis yesterday. Got a sixer of Lone Star today in Terlingua, to add to the Shiner I already have. . Have a new buddy riding down on his bike from Las Cruces NM to join me camping for the night, maybe two, so am all set for a few days. . It is 72F/22C with almost no breeze and few clouds here today down on the border. Front coming through tonight and daytime temps will drop to freezing tonight with winds around 10-15mph/16-24kmh Tomorrow’s high will be around 53F/12C with a bit less wind. Then temps back up a bit for rest of the week. . Another view I love, every time... .
