You know you've spent too much time looking at home formulations for lotions, etc. when someone mentions that thread crochet can make a drapey fabric and your first thought it 'Yes, and you can also alter the viscosity by choosing the right stitch pattern'.
Clearly my brain is made of scrambled eggs at this point.

If you use a CPAP or BiPAP and use chapstick:
Do not use a chapstick with petroleum-based products in it — it will degrade your masks

I mean if we’re getting into it we can also examine the massive amount of waste including petroleum and plastic waste in the mechanized animal industry. Most micro plastics come from fishing nets (at sea) and tire particles (on land). How are herd animals moved around in mechanized agriculture? Oh, right. Extensive trucking industry. As to an alternative that I have never seen (yet) include partial petroleum plastic, and which is sustainable — check out vegan leather made of fungi mycelium. It’s already available and I would say will become more and more soon
oh my god! you're right, capitalism and mass production is bad! anyway, I'm gonna go pick up some leather that was processed on a local small scale farm I can walk to, get some fresh meat and milk while I'm at it, and hang out with the farm animals that are born and raised there before walking home again.

[Image description: the Trolley Problem diagram, with one person tied to the alternate track and five people tied to the default track. Alternate track is labeled "kill some animals for a decades lasting, biodegradable material that insulates and breathes very well." Default track is labeled "poison the entire earth with plastic garments that fall apart in 2 years and get dumped in a Ghanaian or Chilean landfill." End description.]

Idk exactly how to explain this but the softness of real wool and real linen is very different from the artificial softness of polyester “sherpa”, fuzzy faux-fur, spongey acrylic knits and people have gotten too used to the soft plastics and now associate wool with “itchy” and linen with rough and cotton with “too heavy” and then go and wear 100% polyester fleecy sweatshirts and say it’s so warm and cozy but actually they’re just staticky cooking in their sweat locked inside a plastic membrane and you are paying too much to be wearing filaments of petroleum products and the money isn’t going to the people sewing them either. I’m saying you all need to touch grass and the grass in this situation is good quality textiles made of natural fibres.
