I appreciate how angry you are that people are scamming folx. Your kind heart made my day. AND! You are SO RIGHT that some education is needed here! Taking your advice, I used Google and Google Scholar for this research.
WHAT I LEARNED:
1. The fucked up wellness influencers are often, though not always, neofascist girlies (of all genders) trying to get people with chronic medical problems that are UNDER INVESTIGATED & UNDER TREATED to feel appreciated as a recruitment tactic. It’s a Problem. And we all know a fascist Loves a GOOD GRIFT.
2. The stuff that isn’t about vaginas and shit is actually about stuff that is UNDER INVESTIGATED & UNDER TREATED. 3. Personal note on the subject of GETTING OUTDOORS AND TOUCH THE GRASS: Most of the consequences of having under investigated and under treated invisible disabilities like the various types of arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and many others limit how much and what kind of outside time you can do. How much gardening you can do, for example. I am in CONSTANT pain that varies in intensity. My hands sometimes stop working altogether. Me trying to prune a bush in my garden is not practical. Me trying to weed my garden, or harvest there isn’t always something I can do. This year, I couldn’t harvest my radishes in time due to a pain flare, so now i have the most BEAUTIFUL radish flowers! Enjoying them, too. So pretty! So yeah, many of us who need some of the things on your list of scams the wellness influencers were making up really do feel very disconnected from Earth BECAUSE OF OUR INVISIBLE DISABILITIES.
4. NOW TO THE GOOGLE LINKS! 4a. AIP is the AutoImmune Protocol used to identify what is making someone with an autoimmune illness unwell and here is what the CLEVELAND CLINIC (not a ‘fraudster’) says about it. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/aip-diet-autoimmune-protocol-diet/ Autoimmune diseases are horrible and most people tell people who have them that we just want ATTENTION. No, we just don’t want to die because our body think our body is THE ENEMY. Quite often the result is INFLAMMATION and CHRONIC PAIN which varies in intensity and location in the body.
4b. The MAYO CLINIC’s thoughts on those annoying gluten free people (i’m one of them, alas!): https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/celiac-disease/symptoms-causes/syc-20352220
4c. There is clearly some debate among medical researchers about how valid the nightshade allergy might be as an across the board thing: (apologies, that these are behind paywalls)
https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10620-023-07955-9 https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-030-88473-4_3 4d. LINK TO THE TOMATO ALLERGY SEARCH I JUST DID ON GOOGLE SCHOLAR: https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C48&q=tomato+allergy&btnG= apparently some people WILL die of eating a tomato, trust me I was surprised, too. 4e. LINK TO THE DIETARY TRIGGER NIGHTSHADE VEGETABLES SEARCH I JUST DID ON GOOGLE SCHOLAR: https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C48&q=dietary+trigger+nightshade+vegetables&oq=NIGHTSHADE+VEGETABLE
and nightshades seem to be causing inflammation issues all over the place which is one of the hallmarks of many autoimmune disorders.
5. ON THE VAG NONSENSE - You’re right that stuff is a scam and it can make your body unhappy if you use them.
6. In case you want reliable, experiment and research based understandings of herbs as used in Germany - you can read: https://shop.elsevier.com/books/the-complete-german-commission-e-monographs/blumenthal/978-0-9655555-0-0
which is THE COMPLETE GERMAN COMMISSION E MONOGRAPHS. This book relates all the science done on each of 300 herbs commonly used by German herbalists. Helpful. Very science. Much research. COOL. 7. LINK TO THE GOOGLE SCHOLAR SEARCH FOR ‘AMERICAN HERBAL MEDICINE RESEARCH’ https://scholar.google.com/scholar?as_ylo=2022&q=american+herbal+medicine+research&hl=en&as_sdt=0,48 8. FINAL THOUGHTS Hope that helps everybody understand some of the stuff that is REAL that is still being researched and discussed and debated by actual medical experts and researchers.
I know and deeply appreciate that you didn’t intend to throw disabled people without proper access to doctors who give a shit under the bus.
Those of us with these oddball autoimmune diseases are overwhelmingly not taken seriously by doctors. We are objects of intense interest to RESEARCH SCIENTISTS, so if we catch one of THAT SORT’s EYE we are guinea pigs.
We spend a lot of time on Google Scholar finding everything to do with our WTF is wrong now experiences and then we bring that full ass note book to the doctor, who says 'oh you really want attention don’t you’ and how he knows best and won’t even talk to the authors of the study to see if your situation and the ones they’re investigating are a match. It’s horrid and common. ESP FOR WOMEN, and even more so for women of color.
The wellness industry sprung up at first to serve those of us that the medical people generally don’t take seriously. And then it morphed into a money grab by icky sorts. Nothing more horrifying than watching people trying to heal while enduring medical neglect get coopted into weird toxic delusional shit.
i hate you alternative wellness natural chemical free vegan non-GMO herbal intuitive whole foods healing raw high vibrational plant based cleanse gluten free superfood supplement blend bullshit!!!! You're not healthier and more balanced and connected to the Earth because your smoothies are full of unidentifiable green and brown powders you got from a subscription box to ✨URTH-CRUNCH VAGINAL ENLIGHTENMENT✨!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello! Small request here~ can you possibly do a Dr,stone headcanon where reader has severely bad memory? They’re memory is so bad to the point they would start to call everyone by fruits, vegetables, plants. You name it. Just so they could remember their faces properly? This has been in my mind for so long..but of course no rush and always take care of urself! <3
Idk if you take emoji anons, but can I be 🌒 or 🪻anon? You can choose which one if both are free!
Hi🪻anon (I picked this one cuz I like flowers and it’s different from the emojis I already have anons for, hope that’s okay) (oh and this request is about plants so it fits!)
I decided to do Senku, Gen, Tsukasa, and Hyoga. (I’m finally writing for Tsukasa, THE WORLD REJOICES)
Senku Ishigami
You called him a Leak.
He’s confused, but then looks in the mirror and… holy shit you’re right.
He’s offended, but like brushes it off.
“Focus” he says, turning you back to your work.
He thinks it’s strange thought when you don’t call him by his name even to others.
Eventually, he realizes you must not remember his name.
He couldn’t care less tbh. Maybe you are bad with names? Thats common enough he really doesn’t dig.
Gen Asagiri
You called him “nightshade”
It’s his favorite flower so he’s not fazed.
Oh, not the mention it means “liar.” And he’s the world’s best.
Eventually, while watching you, he realizes you don’t call him anything but it, so he subtly tests you.
He works to push you towards saying his name, and you really just don’t seem receptive.
Eventually, he’d subtly pry your reasoning out of you when he notices you call everybody plants and vegetables.
He finds out that the amount of different plants in the nightshade family reminds you of his two faced nature and helps you remember him.
He finds it interesting.
Tsukasa Shishio
He was confused when you called him “Rosanne”
Did you think he was a woman…?
From Gen, he finds out that you might be referring to a Rosanne Brown Lisianthus since you call everybody by plant names.
Gen says he doesn’t know the reason and shrugs, shaking his head as he walks away.
You later tell him it looks like a rose and it’s got a beautiful brown color sometimes.
He gets it now… his hair color!
Takes it as a compliment because the flower sounds pretty the way you describe it.
Hyoga Akatsuki
You called him “cauliflower”
He’s confused?
He’s not… a vegetable?
Are you calling him as weak as a mere vegetable? He’s not, so???
Genuinely, he’s confused.
Takes it the wrong way.
Gives you an eye smile and nods, but then straight up walks away from you.
He over hears somebody talking about your odd nicknames for every one and it clicks that you must be remembering him that way. Cauliflower is white… so is his hair. Okay…

Chinese Herbal Silkie Chicken Soup
A popular immune-boosting elixir
Most often, a main ingredient of this soup is the Chinese Yam, a recommendation substitute for potatoes (a Nightshade vegetable) for those with autoimmune disorders because of its anti-inflammatory properties
Hannibal notably left out this ingredient in the soup he gave Will.
Treatments for Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis:
Immunomodulatory/immunosuppressive therapies
Anti-seizure medication
Autoimmune Protocol Diet (AIP): a diet tailored to reduce inflammation, pain, and other symptoms caused by autoimmune diseases
Of the 5 ingredients Hannibal listed, 4 of them are potentially harmful for those with autoimmune disorders:
Wolf berries ("Goji Berries") - A 'Nightshade Vegetable', recommended to avoid if you have an autoimmune disorder
Red Dates ("Chinese Dates" or "Jujube") - The extract has been found to interact with some seizure medications
Ginseng ("Ginseng Root") - Studies have shown it can boost the immune system and exacerbate autoimmune diseases at the same time
Star Anise - Recommended against, according to the official AIP diet for people with autoimmune conditions
Hannibal enjoys creating situations where Will feels compelled to seek comfort (whether physical or emotional) from him, because he enjoys when Will needs him. He enjoys providing Will comfort, and he feels no guilt causing Will to need that comfort.
His actions are always multifaceted.
Giving Will a comfort food that often holds friendly/familial/romantic connotations and ALSO causes Will to be more dependent on him is a 'killing two birds with one stone' plan.
Sweet and cruel in equal measure

Sopa de mora salvadoreña (Salvadoran black nightshade soup)
American black nightshade (Solanum americanum)—not to be confused with bittersweet nightshade (Solanum dulcamara) or deadly nightshade (Atropa belladonna)—is a widespread flowering plant in the genus Solanum which grows throughout central America and Mexico, and into the northeastern United States. The genus Solanum, within the nightshade family Solanaceae, also includes tomatoes, potatoes, and eggplants.
The ripe berries of this plant, perhaps unsurprisingly, taste something like a very small tomato—but this dish concerns the plant's leaves. Sopa de mora is an earthy, savory, slightly spicy soup eaten in the countryside of El Salvador. It is made from the leaves of hierba mora, or black nightshade, in addition to squash, potato, chili, and sometimes chicken; a beaten egg or two may also be added and cooked, without stirring, directly in the soup.
A similar soup, made from black nightshade and broken pasta, is eaten in Guatemala under the name "caldo de quilete," "sopa de quilete," or "sopa de macuy." "Macuy" presumably derives from the word "majk'u'y", from Kaqchikel: a language in the Maya family spoken in central Guatemala.

Note that, despite the fact that black nightshade leaves are eaten all throughout the plant's native range, they contain varying amounts of toxic compounds including Solanine, and should be eaten in moderation. Avoid unripe (green) berries, and do not eat leaves raw. Some people advise pre-boiling the leaves and discarding the boiling water to remove toxins.
Ingredients:
Large bunch of American black nightshade (Solanum americanum), Eastern black nightshade (Solanum ptychanthum), or European black nightshade (Solanum nigrum) leaves, washed and chopped
1/2 white onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tomato, diced
1 jalapeño, sliced
1 small russet potato, diced
1 chayote fruit (güisquil), diced (optional)
1 small carrot, sliced (optional)
Water or vegetable stock
I used water, and found that the vegetables and leaves gave the soup plenty of flavor; but it's not unusual to use vegetable or chicken stock.
Instructions:
Sauté onion and garlic on medium in a large stockpot until onions are softened and translucent.
Add garlic and sauté until light golden brown.
Add tomato and salt and sauté until softened and nearly dry.
Add remaining ingredients, plus water to cover. Boil until vegetables and leaves are softened, 15-20 minutes. Taste and adjust salt.
Identifying American black nightshade
These are quick notes rather than a complete guide. Don't forage unless you know what you're doing!
Leaves are alternate; ovate or lanceolate; with entire to undulate to blunty dentate margins. Flowers are about 1cm in diameter; white to light purple; with yellow stamens. Berries are green when unripe, and glossy and black when ripe. They grow in clusters. Calyxes are smaller than the berries, and curl away from them. Ripe berries, unripe berries, and flowers often appear on the same branch.
Avoid the green, unripe berries, which are toxic.
Lookalikes
Bittersweet nightshade (Solanum dulcamara) is poisonous. It has berries that are green when unripe, and bright red when ripe. Black nightshade has berries that are green when unripe, and black when ripe.
Deadly nightshade (Atropa belladonna) is poisonous. It has a calyx extending far beyond the berry, and the berries grow singly. Black nightshade has a calyx smaller than the berry, and its berries grow in clusters.
Eastern black nightshade (Solanum ptychanthum) is also in the Solanum nigrum complex and is sometimes considered synonymous with American black nightshade. It is edible, and may also be used in this recipe. Leaves are alternate; ovate or lanceolate. Leaf margins have 2-5 blunt teeth at the base, but become smooth and pointed at the tip. The base is rounded or cuneate (wedge-shaped). Petioles are winged with extensions of the leaf blade.
Flowers are about 1cm in diameter; white to light purple; with yellow stamens. Berries are green when unripe, and glossy and black when ripe; and grow in clusters.

A Moonlit Memory
On 0001 Cemetery Lane stood the Addams mansion, looming in eerie grandeur against the dim light of a misty morning.
Y/n, stepped into the living room. "Ghoulheart, my love," she purred, wrapping her arms around Gomez, who was engrossed in his model trains. "are we letting the locomotives roam free today?"
Gomez chuckled, his mustache twitching with excitement. "Absolutely, Amore mio! All aboard the Addams Express!" He turned to face her, planting a kiss on her lips.
Just then, Morticia entered, her elegant gown flowing as gracefully as ever, her presence enough to capture everyone’s attention. "Beautiful as always, my beloved Nightshade," Y/n greeted her, giving a subtle but intimate kiss on Morticia's cheek.
Morticia’s lips curved into a smile. "And a lovely morning to you too, my love." She reached for Gomez, pulling him into their embrace.
Their moment was interrupted by Uncle Fester, bursting into the room. "Gomez! Y/n! Morticia! Guess what I've invented? A train track that changes its form automatically!" he declared, dragging in a desk covered with a blanket.
Gomez’s eyes lit up like a child’s on Halloween. "Fester, you’ve outdone yourself! Let’s give it a whirl!"
"Boys and their trains," Y/n whispered with a smile as she watched Gomez and Fester excitedly pull the blanket off the table to reveal an built-in train track.
As Fester and Gomez fiddled with the setup, Morticia turned to Y/n. "There will be a beautiful full moon tonight, my dear. Perfect for a moonlit stroll."
A smile crept across Y/n’s face at her wife’s suggestion. "Absolutely perfect, my love. Let's ask Lurch and the kids if they’d like to join." She pulled on the rope hanging from the ceiling, ringing the large bell that echoed through the house.
Lurch’s tall, looming figure appeared silently from the shadows. "You rang?"
Y/n looked at him with a grin. "Lurch, my dear, ominous friend, would you accompany us on a moonlit stroll tonight?" Lurch answer was just to give a solemnly nod.
Just then, Grandmama shuffled in from the kitchen. "A stroll, eh? Just remember to watch out for werewolves!"
"Don’t worry, Mamá," Y/n replied. "I’ll be sure to pack a snack for them."
The sound of scampering feet announced the arrival of Wednesday and Pugsley. "Morning, Mother, Mom," Wednesday greeted, looking up at Morticia and Y/n. "We've been working on a potion to turn vegetables into bats."
Pugsley added, "It’s not working yet, but it makes great slime!" He held up his hands, covered in a gooey mess.
Y/n chuckled. "Still that is Impressive work, you two."
As the morning melted into afternoon, the family went about their usual activities. Morticia tended her garden; Y/n rested in the living room, listening as Lurch played the piano; Gomez and Fester tried to outdo each other with in a explosives battle, and Wednesday and Pugsley enjoyed their break in the playroom after finishing Grandmama’s lessons.
As night fell, the family gathered in the garden, bathed in the soft glow of lanterns. Before setting off, Y/n turned to the kids. “Did you remember to leave food for Aristotle and Homer?”
“Yes, we fed them earlier,” Pugsley replied. Fester chimed in, “And I gave Kitty Kat some meat. You know how much that cat eats—wouldn’t want him sneaking out to hunt.”
“Good thinking,” Y/n nodded approvingly. “Poor thing wouldn’t last a second out there.” With everyone ready, they began their moonlit stroll, arms linked.
“It truly is a remarkable night,” Morticia murmured, resting her head on Y/n’s shoulder.
Gomez grinned. “Absolutely. A brilliant idea to come out tonight!”
The stars twinkled above, casting long, shifting shadows across the garden. Pugsley and Wednesday glanced up at their parents, curiosity lighting their faces.
“Mom, Dad… Mother,” Pugsley began, “how did you three meet?”
Morticia’s lips curled into a nostalgic smile. “Ah, well then, gather ’round, and we’ll share a tale from the days of our youth.”
Gomez leaned in, his eyes gleaming. “It was a night much like this, many moons ago. Your mother and I were young.”
Morticia continued, her voice soft and melodic. “We’d heard whispers of a peculiar circus in town, one promising oddities beyond imagination. Naturally, we thought it would make for an unforgettable date.”
Gomez chuckled, his enthusiasm infectious. “The circus was like no other—a strange blend of performances and macabre wonders. But amid it all, we spotted something special.”
Morticia gently brushed a stray lock of Wednesday’s hair. “A curious sign caught our attention: ‘Gaze into the Spirit Veil and Communicate with the Beyond.’ We were intrigued, drawn in by the mysteries it promised.”
Y/n’s eyes sparkled as Morticia spoke. “We entered a tent adorned with mystic symbols and deep velvet curtains. In the center, a figure cloaked in shadow awaited. She stepped into the light, revealing the most captivating girl I’d ever seen.”
Pugsley leaned forward, wide-eyed. “You were part of the circus?!”
Y/n chuckled softly. “Yes. I had a gift—connecting with spirits—and the circus… well, they exploited it. People would come to speak to the beyond through me.”
Wednesday’s curiosity deepened. “What happened next?”
Gomez’s gaze softened, a nostalgic smile spreading across his face. “As I looked into Y/n’s eyes, it felt like the world around us disappeared. We were drawn to each other like moths to a flame.”
Morticia’s voice held a touch of mystery. “It was love at first sight.”
Y/n’s smile was tender. “We spoke without words; it was as if our souls connected in that single moment.”
Gomez’s tone turned mischievous. “We knew we had to help Y/n escape the circus and its clutches.”
Morticia nodded, her eyes reflecting a boldness from her younger years. “With a plan as daring as it was risky, we orchestrated a grand escape. Beneath the watchful gaze of the moon, we whisked Y/n away into the warmth of our love.”
Pugsley’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “And then you got married?”
Gomez laughed, ruffling Pugsley’s hair. “Exactly, my boy!”
Y/n let out a soft laugh, watching her family fondly. “Well, it wasn’t quite that simple, but yes, that’s how it all started.”

Nicotine and Tobacco
"Nicotine is also present at ppb concentrations in edible plants in the family Solanaceae, including potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplants..."
"...Nicotine is highly addictive. Slow-release forms (gums and patches, when used correctly) can be less addictive and help in quitting." - Wikipedia on Nicotine
My immediate thought is that a person is *not* addicted to McDonald's Hashbrowns the same way as Cigarettes.
And many people describe "nicotine cessation" usually closer to "Tobacco Cessation"
Most notable in studies like [these]; that seek to answer *why* people can't seem to kick the habit.
Some of these studies suggest it's the physical act of smoking that is the true habit. Some literally note that "a patient seems more depressed and anxious when they stop smoking"
Which literally means the person is self-medicating; but it's often observed as "simply withdrawals"
My nemesis "Bupropion" (Wellbutrin) is one of the few drugs that has actual results in tobacco cessation; I don't like the way it makes me feel, but I can't deny the results in cessation.
While I've noted this before; I'm on a "studying the studies" kick currently. And here's a glaring piece of absence in our collective understanding.
And, like I said above; there's plenty of cranky old folk who; upon reading that nightshade has nicotine in it; say that if "eating vegetables had the same effect as smoking, I would've quit ages ago."
I'm stuck here BECAUSE our medical research is such here. Somewhere between drug shaming and profits.
What is the missing link between Wellbutrin and Cigarettes? What effects do both have in common, that I person might use cigarettes to self-Medicare for?
It's not Nicotine. It's something else.

What Exactly Is Sannyo Smoking?
Well of course it sucks Mamizou, don't you remember what she said it's made of?
Now, an herb you can smoke that can grow on a mountain. The first, most obvious, initial guess would be marijuana. It's a weed after all, it can grow basically anywhere. Plus, let us be honest, it would be a little funny.
marijuana can definitely grow on mountains, it even grows on mountains in Central Asia
Plus, it is apparently spreading over northern Japan right now as a weed. They used to grow it for hemp material, not to smoke, it would probably not do much, but that wouldn't stop Sannyo if she wanted to give it a shot.
(Except I'm deliberately teasing)
There is a very, very obvious reason why it's not marijuana.
Marijuana has no nicotine, even though you can smoke it, it's not by any stretch of the imagination "tobacco"
Even if we imagine a world where this is the only thing Sannyo ever smoked, Mamizou smoked it with her and just said it was bad tobacco, not to mention Mamizou has recently been to the outside world and would probably know weed in seconds. (Which, although hypothetical, would have made for a hilarious Mamizou thought bubble)
We are looking for "tobacco" after all, we need nicotine, not just anything you can smoke, but it's a weed and a popular joke, so I obviously had to tease.
I could go through every variant of wild Nicotiana, tobacco was even imported to Japan by Portuguese sailors in 1542, and it's cultivation was legalized in 1625. The Hakurei barrier was formed in 1885, that's actually plenty of time for actual wild tobacco to spread.
But it might not work either.
While we might find some enthusiastic and previously cultivated tobacco growing as a weed that spread up to the mountains, it's not going to be unique enough. It'll be growing all over the place by the time it gets up a mountain. And the village would be smoking that exact same thing.
But most importantly, it's no fun.
Truth be told, there is a genus of Nicotiana that would work well in mountains, furthermore, Portugal actually had some at the time as an import from the Americas. But thats no fun, so I'll just return to this later when I inevitably run out of exotic options.
After all, if its tobacco made from "herbs" it would boarder on cheating to just use nicotiana, regardless of the form it ends up in.
Thankfully, there are other herbs and weeds beyond nicotiana that actually have nicotine, it really would be worthwhile check one of those.
And I've got a fun one. A whole family in fact.
Just above the Genus: "Nicotiana" is the Tribe: "Nicotianeae" and above that we find the family Solanaceae.
The Solanaceae, also known as the potato or deadly nightshade family
Nicotine is a naturally produced alkaloid in the nightshade family of plants
It contains everything from eggplants and other vegetables to the infamous Deadly Nightshade. (Atropa belladonna)
And of course, like I said, further down the family, it even has nicotiana itself. All of them contain nicotine to some greater or lesser extent. (Yes, hilariously even eggplants, a little bit)
Solanaceae consists of about 98 genera and some 2,700 species. They grow naturally in more parts of the world than wild Nicotiana.
But we are just going to be looking through the nightshade variations, maybe some fruit, but no potatoes today. And these are coveniently famous for their narcotic effects.
And some varieties, such as the Datura stramonium (occasionally called the Devil's Trumpet) had its leaves smoked in pipes and cigarettes, so much they were traded by the East India Company in the 18th century. And since it was popular for traditional medicine, some people might have even planted it.
But that type is not native to Japan, so it's got the same problem as the nicotiana. Not to mention, even though its an invasive weed, and can survive a little below the freezing point, in its current state, it probably doesn't like mountains. It probably wouldn't last a full winter on one.
This might be definite enough to just say it can be some hypothetical, wild, non specific variation of nightshade with the right combination of alkaloids and nicotine and presumably, relatively non deadly in the form Sannyo uses it.
Or maybe it is just better adapted to mountains form of imported of the Datura stramonium I just mentioned. I doubt even if it spread like a weed, that anyone but Sannyo would bother to figure out you can smoke that type of plant as tobacco.
But we are mostly just having fun at this point.
I doubt we could possibly think Zun cared up to this point, and definitely not beyond this point, we are just doing a fun overanalysis after all. Zun almost always seems to go for extinct species anyway, so it wouldn't be fun to follow that train of thought regardless..
[But if we just want a probable canonical answer Zun thought up. He might have just meant some non specific extinct variation of nightshade, since if there is at least one native version then that's enough to claim there could have once been others,
Besides, it's even possible zun just imagined she could possibly even mix her favorite flowers somehow, which while she probably could not, it would definitely be cute. ]
But we are going to take this further anyway to see if we can find something real and possible that currently exists today.
The simplest thing to think of native to Japan is just Japanese belladonna (Zun's proof of concept for an imaginary extinct nightshade if he really wanted a hypothetical one)
Scopolia japonica, also called Japanese belladonna. It's about as dangerous as the name implies. If eaten by mistake it can cause hallucinations. And while it no doubt contains at least some nicotine, it also contains the alkaloids Scopolamine
And more hilariously Hyoscyamine, known for helping the colon or bladder...
yes, you can use this extract to help you poop or pee if you want too.
Which is even funnier than the marijuana joke i made earlier.
And the only other species in the Scopolia genus is pretty similar and in Korea.
So we'll want to find something different.
But we are trapped. We only have imports left.
And the Datura genus we'd likely want is stuck in the Americas so we can only really consider a variety that came from those possible 18th century imports of Datura stramonium.
They are pretty perfect, tbh, spread widely to the Old World early where it has also become naturalized, and since it was already a weed that could endure dry climate and fairly cold environments. It could probably spread up a mountain.
They are our best bet for something you can smoke for recreation, with nicotine, outside the nicotiana genus that only Sannyo would use. If smoked people used its properties for recreation but you can also use it for anesthesia. Inject it's primary ingredient Atropine and you can use it for all sorts of weird stuff. (Though I pretty much resigned myself to having Atropine in the plant the moment I decided to run up and down the nightshade family).
Though in truth, she's probably just smoking wild tobacco that has lost a lot of flavor while struggling to adapt the mountain. So I'll move on to the most likely answer.
Portugal's more early tobacco is Nicotiana rustica, also called Aztec tobacco.
It is pretty tough and would probably adapt to a mountain pretty well.
I'd like to think it's the Datura stramonium since it's cooler and weird though.
In overview:
The simplest, best answer is just wild imported Aztec tobacco (Nicotiana rustica) from Portugal. Which had trade with Japan open up extremely early. Its honestly perfect for this
Followed by the more provocative option of Devil's Trumpet (Datura stramonium) imported later in the 18th century.
and the funny option. The only one actually native to Japan
Japanese belladonna (Scopolia japonica)
But it's almost definitely just that Aztec tobacco. (Nicotiana rustica)
We could just imagine she mixes flowers or herbs into it to validate her "herbs" comment if we want (which again, would be cute)
#sannyo komakusa#touhou project#Flowers#Smoking#This took me collectively more than 16 hours#I had a ton of fun up until the point I realized Japan had like only one native option and was basically stuck with imports completely.#lotus eaters#It's probably just the Aztec tobacco but I felt obligated to run through looking for native nightshade#I'll need to make a short version later.#It's funny that I've imagined a world Sannyo would give smoking almost anything she comes across a shot if nicotine is involved.#mamizou futatsuiwa

Hello Fai,
I created a sort of mini comic for chapter five the most recent book.
Drawing of Poison Table and Mushroom Patch:
Also the min fanart:
Which is for this scene:
“Is the table back here for all your purple plants?”
“They are not all purple, but segue,” Galois gestures to the table. “The mushroom patch and this table especially, not safe. This is where all our poisonous plants are grown.” He waves his hand. “I mean, roughly. We have tomatoes and potatoes too which are part of the nightshade family and their stems and leaves are poisonous, but we don’t use them as poison. And most of the fungi is perfectly safe, but it can be very difficult to tell sometimes. I would rather you didn’t risk it.”
“These are all poison?” Raphael moves closer to the poison table. “Man, this flower is so pretty.”
“That is the adenium obesum, otherwise known as the desert rose. It’s native to Sahelian Africa and hunters would use them to poison their arrowheads.”
Raphael snatches his hand back.
“It’s actually quite lucky that we have that, most Yokai who hail from the African continent come from the miombo woodlands and the Barotse floodplain, which…I believe are both in Zambia now, so it’s thrilling to have specimens from farther north. Anyway, oleander is another one of my favorites, incredibly beautiful and will cause you to shit blood. Oh, those berries that look absolutely delicious? Belladonna. Don’t even touch any of these without myself or my father present, some of these plants are toxic even to touch.”
“...Why does Draxum have so many poisons?”
“My father is a botanist. And many of these plants have positive effects as well, if you know how to use them.”
“It’s poison.”
“You know what my father does, Raphael. Poisons are a necessity.”
Raphael is entirely silent for far too long. Galois clears his throat.
“Now!” He turns on his heel and marches forward. “On the other side here are all the other non-tree fruits and vegetables. Which is all incredibly exciting, I know, but if you bear with me we will get to the experimentals!”
——————————————————————-
lmao I love how you wrote POISON like the Pokémon type. Gale probably would label shit like that, just to annoy his dad.
I never did finish Draxum's house in the Sims 4 but I did build the greenery. Let me see if I can find my pics...
Did I seriously not take pics of the remodel? Ugh. So this was the first work-through. In the second I expanded both the greenery and Draxum's lab, and adjusted things to fit the in-story descriptions. The flowers at the back of the second pic should be up on a table. I don't have the Sims installed on this computer, but I have the save file and mod folder so when I get around to reinstalling it should be pretty easy to pop them back in and load up the house. One of these days I'll get around to doing that. It's only been like a year.
Oh! And the flowers Gale mentions:
The Desert Rose
Oleander
and Belladonna! Not bad on your renditions!
Beautiful, aren't they? Women used to pour belladonna juice into their eyes to make their pupils look bigger. Which also rendered them blind, but that's historic makeup for you.
Anyway. I love Gale's skeptical eyebrow waggles. He doesn't have time for this personal crisis shit. He's got places to be.

@thedawningofthehour
I made FanArt for the Profile in Quicksilver, or book three of Dawning of the Hour, specifically Chapter 5. Specifically the poison plants scene. I kind of made this section into a mini comic. Hope you like it.
“Is the table back here for all your purple plants?”
“They are not all purple, but segue,” Galois gestures to the table. “The mushroom patch and this table especially, not safe. I tried drawing the tension in this scene. Also, I put the split in Galois/Donnie's sentences to show that they are the same person. Hopefully that showed through well. Also, this was my first time drawing Raph and wow. He is really hard to draw.
Drawing of the Poison section for the Poison Table and Mushroom Patch in the Faniction:
I tried to draw the different plants. Through looking for references, I learned that adenium obesum as plants to put in the house. Also, I made fanart of a scene.
Thank you.

How I Practice Self Care (As a Disabled Witch)
As someone with fibromyalgia, persistent depressive disorder, and chronic fatigue, taking care of myself can be one of the most challenging things in the world (on top of everything else I have to get done). I still have days where I struggle, but I wanted to list out what helps me in hopes that maybe it’s able to help someone else in a situation similar to mine.
Make Myself Move
One of least surprising difficulties of having chronic pain and fatigue, is that getting yourself up and moving can be almost impossible some days. However, low-impact exercise is one of the best things for your body, especially as someone with fibro. Doing pilates, yoga, and going for daily walks are simple ways to get yourself moving. Pilates and yoga can both be done at home with a simple mat if you have an aversion to the public gym, and both can offer that gentle movement that fuels your body while also minimizing the drain on your energy.
Eat Good Foods
Research into foods that cause potential fibro flare-ups is important. Processed sugars and carbohydrates have been noted to potential cause fibro symptoms to worsen, increasing fatigue and pain. Focusing on protein intake alongside fruits and vegetables (avoiding the nightshade family) is one of the best ways to fuel your body towards feeling even just a tad bit better.
Putting Energy Into Yourself
You can’t just give all of your energy into working, especially if you have depression. It’s important to make the daily effort to try doing things that bring you joy, even if just momentarily. For myself, my most consistent moment of doing something just because it makes me happy is doing fun makeup in the morning. It makes me feel more confident about myself, but it also is a short-lived artform that feeds into my creative side without the stress of permanent mistakes and performance pressures from more traditional mediums.
Sleep, Sleep, Sleep!
Alright, admittedly this is one of my worst habits I have yet to break. Getting adequate sleep is one of the best ways you can serve your body, and I have a horrible habit of staying up until 1 a.m. in hopes of relaxing without the pressure of the daylight-seeing world. Your body can’t function without proper rest, and if you have a chronic illness getting sleep is all the more critical.
Practice My Faith
Giving myself permission to openly practice my witchcraft and faith at college was a decision that opened a floodgate of serotonin. I find so much safety and comfort in my practice, so I try to engage with it whenever I can.

Ok I was gonna reblog, but then I realized that might make the post too long.
Tatos are Eggplants
OKAY
I know literally nobody cares but being extremely interested in agriculture and farming, I care.
So frequently tatos are referred ro as a potato-tomato hybrid, or often just considered just... tomatoes.
In the universe, they're described as a 'slightly ketchup flavored starchy vegetable with the texture of wet cardboard.'
The only thing they really have in common with either potatoes or tomatoes is looking similar to a tomato, and being a starchy vegetable. (And tasting kinda like ketchup)
Technically 'tatos' are a real thing and they're crated by grafting potatoes and tomatoes together, but they look like this:
However here are more reasons why i think Tatos are a type of eggplant and not a mutant potato tomato hybrid.
-the plant itself-
Looking at the way the plant looks, it is significantly less dense than a normal tomato plant. This isn't a great point cause apocolypse and admittedly the leaves more so resemble the aforementioned irl tato graft. However, the twiggy bark of the stalk resembles an eggplant stalk more so than either potatoes or tomatoes. (All three are also part of the nightshade family, so leaves are kinda whatever but they match the same wavy diamon shape of all three.)
(Eggplant plant:)
-the flowers-
Tato flower:
Tato flower^
Potato flower ^
Tomato flower^
Eggplant flower^
Okay that's all thank you
#fallout#fallout lore#tatos#this is the dumbest headcannon ever but youll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands
