32. Picket Line Pals with The Doughboys: Mike Mitchell & Nick Wiger

Plot summary:

Workers at Ralph's Pharmacy, Clarice, Jimmy, and Clark decide to go on strike after days of mistreatment by their manager Mr. Ralph who frequently restricts their rights to vote and throws them off boats. Meanwhile Mr Ralph eats a shrimp cocktail he doesn't enjoy and talks about how he can't be taken down. Jimmy and Clarice flirt through a song about finding nemo. Mr Ralph goes on an alpine vacation and orders complicated sushi and brandy from 2004. He meets with the other owners of the top pharmacies and they notice Clarice, Jimmy, Clark, and Ben playing a snowball fight outside their window, as they've rented the airbnb next door. The Big Four, Ms Safeway, Mr. Charles Vander Sorrison (CVS), and Mr Ralph tell the Poors (their words) that they need to leave because the snow outside is for them and the Poors can't be frolicking in their snow. The group says that's crazy because snow doesn't belong to anyone but Mr. CVS buys the mountain to spite them so now they own the snow. Ms. Safeway challenges the Poors to a good old fashioned snowball vs receipt ball fight, winner takes all. The Poors obviously gain the upper hand because snowballs are far more powerful than balls made of receipts. Mr Ralph gets hit in the face with a snowball and turns into ET and it's revealed that ET isn't CG, he's just a guy who turned evil because he's been stuck on earth for so long. ET turns Jimmy into a pro baseball player and Clarice into a home shopping network host, and Clark becomes the new Mr Ralph, just not evil. Ben's dream of room temperature orange chicken comes true. Now that everything's all right and everyone's achieved their dreams, the Poors become the Picket Line Pals and everyone comes back to work at the store.

“How Did This Get Played?” Is Really Worth Listening to No Matter How You Feel About Video Games

Hosts Heather Anne Campbell and Nick Wiger, as a sort of sacrifice for humanity, have subjected themselves to playing the worst video games of all time (many of which that deserve to be buried in sand more than the infamous video game of adaptation of E.T.) to bring you very satisfying hour of dissecting just how truly bad these games are on the new podcast How Did This Get Played?.

Sure, it’s a Sisyphean task for Heather, Nick, producer Matt Apodaca, and a weekly guest, but the anguish that every one of these video games cause is a pretty great bit of dark, existential humor, especially since you can often feel the rancor they have for having to revisiting these beyond-the-bottom-of-the-bargain-bin games. Such titles include Leisure Suit Larry, Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker, Superman 64, and so much more (yeah, there are so many bad video games). You can be a hardcore gamer or barely interested in video games and we’re will to bet that How Did This Get Played? would make for a really good listen.

The name of this podcast, derived from the beloved movie podcast How Did This Get Made?, definitely had a high bar to reach, but most certainly delivers on ripping apart those best/worst video games.
