The NHS Race and Health Observatory has commissioned further work into neonatal screening assessments which could more effectively identify jaundice in Black newborn babies. Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) has now started a recommendations review on the benefits, limitations and implications of transcutaneous bilirubin (TCB) monitoring devices, used within the screening process to diagnose jaundice, a leading condition affecting newborns. An estimated six out of every 10 babies develop the condition and babies with darker skin are especially at increased risk. Characterised by skin colouring with whites of eyes appearing yellow, early treatment is vital for newborns with elevated levels of the bilirubin substance in the blood. If left untreated, the risks of jaundice can cause seizures, learning disabilities, hearing problems and brain damage. The 12-month review will investigate guidance, data on delays in diagnoses, latest evidence and research data across England, to set out a series of practical recommendations. Dr Ngozi Edi-Osagie, Consultant Neonatologist, Group Associate Medical Director at MFT and Principal Investigator for the study, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the NHS Race and Health Observatory on this vital piece of work which will provide further insights into the effective and timely diagnosis of jaundice in newborn babies with darker skin in the community, which will lead to improved clinical outcomes.”

wake up babe new CCCC AU idea just dropped

I was thinking forever about what kind of Pokemon they’d be, out of the existing 1025. Nothing really seemed to fit… until I came up with the idea of them being variants of existing ones with their own types!

As you can see, whilst drawing this concept (and a few other related doodles) I quickly realised that Snivy is actually absolutely adorable, especially when you draw it with its head facing down.

Not to mention also the easiest to draw out of the three. Sobble (Heart, Poison-type which gains Dark once he evolves into Inteleon) and Torchic (Soul, Psychic-type which gains Dragon once he evolves into Blaziken) were surprisingly difficult.

Anyways, with that and a fairly rushed concept of what an Electric/Steel Serperior would look like, I bid you adieu.

My Son, Onkar

“Hello! I’m your father,” Dr. Korom began, relishing every second of this moment. “Sleep easy, my son, my little Onkar.”

Korom struggled to put into words how he felt, but he didn’t have to. He was still overcome with nothing but love and joy sharing it with his newborn son.

Earlier in the morning his husband had vanished after their son arrived, which was devastating for him, but Korom focused on taking Onkar to the hospital for exams and care. Now he was finally able to handle him again. Nothing else mattered to him at this moment than being a father to this new life, and slowly put the incident behind him for now. His son was his new priority in life, and Korom wanted nothing more than to take advantage of that as soon as he retired.

Hey guys, happy Orctober! Thanks again for being patient. For those who genuinely follow these characters, this is BEFORE Dr. Utt met and married Charun.

For context and lore explanations, he was married before, and expected a baby with this young man too. This husband of his turned out to be a literal angel (they’re considered pure myth), whose only purpose in their relationship was to give the orc what he needed most in life; someone to love and was dependent on him, since the orc always felt he would never be with anyone in his life (that’s the entire purpose of angels when they descend to earth, and then once accomplished they descend back to their cosmic plains). Korom never mentioned to anyone about the angel thing, because he knew no one would believe him, so he merely told everyone that his son was born via anonymous surrogate.

my littlest cousin is very sick with some sort of upper respiratory for like the 20th time in his very short little life. 😢 it's so hard not to mentally backseat parent in a situation like this. at least his mom is always quick with the doctor's visits, that makes me feel better at least.

A quick sketch I did a few weeks ago for my personal wiki based around characters from my Quartet universe, with this being Ghirren's kid half-sister: Fae! :>

Compared to him, her childhood wasn't/isn't anywhere near as traumatic and tense so she has a very bright and energetic personality. It's because of this that she's beloved by everyone within Historia castle, aside from Ghirren himself who repeatedly avoids her and doesn't wish to form any kind of bond with Fae (it's complicated, to say the least lmao).

However, Fae herself would very much love to interact with him but because of their age difference and heavily contrasting personalities, it is very much an uphill battle.
