For a while now I've been looking for a setting in FFXIV and I've finally found it. It's not NEW, but I don't think it's commonly known either.

I wanted the setting that changes the player's name color in chat, according to their role. For example, if they are tank, their name would be blue, if they are healer, their name would be green, and if they are DPS, their name would be red.

At first I thought it was this ⤵️

The "Apply colors according to role." check mark option. But what that does, is this;

It may be a bit difficult to tell here because I tried to edit names in the screenshot (attempting to be considerate of people). It's really hard to see the ONE tank in my Alliance (B). But that option color codes the names of players above their head, in your party. And It doesn't effect other players in your alliance. (I have my alliance name plates set to a color very similar to that green apparently... I might change it.)

After learning this (literally today), I went searching again and found the real thing. It's this ⤵️

Found in Character Configuration > Log Window Settings > Button at the top right that says "Name Display Settings"

It'll open a new window called "Chat Log Name Display Settings".

I feel like this is rather hidden tbh 😅. But I was going over this topic with a couple friends in Discord and honestly this find is nice. We're all going to be using it 👌🏻

You can mess with the settings and apply them, and view how they'll look real time at the bottom with the small chat 'example' they provide.

It's just one of those small quality of life things, y'know? It's not game breaking, but it's nice to have 😊

why? well of course mlm wlw solidarity and the epic roast battles they would have. courier, arcade, AND veronica....imagine 3 sassy gays pull up. say your prayers cuz you're done for

but also I think arcade would have a lot of wisdom to share with Veronica. despite not ever actually being a functioning member of the enclave, having ties with it has allowed him to have a different perspective than most when it comes to organizations hated in the mojave. I think Veronica could reeeeallly use someone with that kind of insight because of her struggles with the brotherhood. arcade would be a no judgement type when it comes to that situation and would offer any advice or help he could. because in my mind the best option for Veronica, as a character, is for her to leave the brotherhood.

then after Veronica leaves and truly understands why the brotherhood is disliked I think arcade could help her with the guilt she would feel for being associated with them (after all he knows a looootttt about that)

most importantly he could help her realize that you don't have to hate the people you love and care for just for being in a certain organization. you can recognize the nuance of the situation and judge the person accordingly. we all know that is Veronica's biggest hesitancy when it comes to wanting to leave.

his biggest lesson to her would be: you can't help what you were born into but you can, and should, do everything in your power to do what is good and right moving forward

I hc that arcade took Veronica to meet the remnants and gave her the same spiel that he did the courier + the courier took her to old mormon fort to become a member of the followers

Something about the Everlight being the last to relinquish her mortal form

Something about her choosing a full mortal life where she allowed herself not just to live among mortals or to be worshiped by them but to experience their lives as one of them (almost)

Did she hold out last to give up her form, with the vivid sense-memory of everything she had felt with her briefly mortal body? Was she thinking of her skin and hair that had been touched by her husband? Was she so reluctant because she didn't want to destroy the arms and lips and hips that had hugged and kissed and been there to support her children?

Did she choose to let Death embrace that form, rather than divinely ascending, because it was the closest to what her mortal self might otherwise have had?

Well Critters it's Bells Hells Live Show Day! That snuck up on us quickly didn't it? Felt almost like a few weeks ago that they announced it!

Alas, being across the pond (also tomorrow's Father's Day in the UK) I will have to wait for the VOD, sitting here with my usual Thursday night doses of anticipation, imagination and anxiety, but I hope all that are attending have a great night. So much can happen, so much stuff I want to happen too but ofc some things are long shots - anyone who looks at my feed can tell what I want to happen let's be honest, and there'll be dress up and whatever beyond extra entrance Sam has planned to make his anticipated and grandiose return.

So sing the intro loud, tag your live spoilers just in case, do creepy whispers if Laudna performs a Sending, tell them to stop it if they sneeze, and most of all enjoy the show!

“it’s their show” and “it’s an adaptation” don’t both get to be used to defend tlovm’s weaker choices btw. either it’s just their show (that the cast has explicitly said one of their favourite parts of tlovm is doing it for the fans and seeing reactions — notably different than the campaigns which are For Them) or it’s a story they are trying to tell in a different medium while maintaining the things that made it poignant and significant to an audience in the first place. and, uh, i think the problems i see in tlovm is literally that the show seems to be trying to thread the needle of both of these and it’s failing. truly. i need you to choose one and commit to it. make it just your show and write the version of the story you most want to see or start making more compelling and consistent writing choices. one. i might suggest in a show committed to 7 main characters, is giving all of them depth, given that every person i’ve spoken to who hasn’t seen the campaign and watched the show has told me how they think the characters aren’t always strongly written and the pace is weird and that there are many things that get touched on with characters and their arcs that are interesting but do not have enough depth. i think tlovm has great entertainment value. i think it’s depth as a cohesive story about a party of adventures turned found family is a bit more questionable (which is unfortunate given its title). i don’t need the campaign in animated form, but if interviews are going to consistently reference wanting to appeal to og fans while bringing in new ones, paying attention to what actually kept people watching 4 hours of occasionally meandering plots and long dnd initiatives every week might be a better guiding point than the shock and surprise they have frequently cited in interviews. and obviously that varies from person to person, but one of the most significant strengths of a table of actors playing dnd was, surprise surprise, the characters and their interactions.
