"Unlike in 'Harry & Meghan,' the duchess of Sussex appears only infrequently in 'Heart of Invictus,' which could partly explain the show’s diminished appeal." 🤣 I read that and laughed so hard, I choked on my cider...

The more I read of Madame Restell by Jennifer Wright, the more I get the impression that the author wants readers to know she did a lot of research.
And then I get this gem:
"In order to maximize profits from advertising, The Sun also needed to maximize its readership, which resulted in stories that were often very far removed from anything factual. The Sun is perhaps best remembered for running a six-issue story by Richard Adams Locke about an intelligent group of winged bat-people who lived on the moon. Today that story is known as the “Great Moon Hoax.” It was initially intended as a good piece of satire of some of the speculative descriptions of the moon that were popular during the age. However, much of the public fully believed it to be true, in large part because the newspaper did nothing to indicate it was false. A philanthropic group in England started with the intent of “relieving the wants of the people on the moon and, above all, abolishing slavery if it should be found to exist among the Lunar inhabitants.” The writers at the Sun thought this was hilarious. When a group of students from Yale who fully believed the hoax visited the Sun’s offices to see the original sources used to write the piece, the team at the editorial office assured them the sources were at the printing office. The printing office team told them they had just been returned to the editorial office. In such a manner, the Yale students were kept running futilely through the streets. Except for the Sun’s anti-slavery stance, which we’ll discuss later, the Sun’s writers did not really want to report on news of the day, or on issues like the inner workings of government; they just wanted to tell fun stories. In one lesser-known instance, they dismissed the controversial adjournment of the Twenty-third Congress (during which there was debate over whether members of the old congress could act after midnight) in three words—“congress is adjourned”—following with a lengthier item about the health of an anaconda at a local museum, which, in a hilarious misadventure, had swallowed the very blanket it had been wrapped in to keep it cozy. The museum’s owner—and indeed the world—was very anxious about the health of this “beautiful serpent.”
Think what these writers could have done with an adorably ugly kitten and an Internet connection.
From Madame Restell by Jennifer Wright
BTW, on research:

i can’t even explain how concerned i am for rempe when he is 22 and genuinely has potential as a hockey player but it’s all thrown out the window by the rangers who send him out on the ice solely to fight!!!
and you can make the argument that ‘oh he’s not being forced to fight’ but imagine the backlash he would receive if he declined the challenges when he doesn’t even start the fights most of the time!!! you cannot deny the pressure placed on him as essentially a glorified fighting dog
cte is so incredibly serious, and although fighting has been essentially part of the sport for decades, there comes a point where it’s just not justifiable seeing the same person get into fights time after time only to be beat again and again—matt is way too young to be an enforcer, and you can argue that hockey shouldn’t even have the need for enforcers anyway!
occasional fights will always be entertaining to the fans but i feel like a lot of us are losing sight of the physical repercussions of constantly taking hits like that to the head, especially when you are so young.

Edward Hopper, Morning Sun, 1952. Oil on canvas.
Figures in Hopper’s paintings are often shown, as in this example, isolated and lost in thought. Hopper’s model, bathed in sunlight, gazes out through an enormous window to a row of identical windows of a nearby building. Perhaps every window could reveal another solitary occupant behind its glass, each confronting the new day and yet each alone in the person’s shared experience. One could argue that this popular painting embodies a sense of calm and peace, or an overwhelming feeling of lonely isolation. --David Stark, Columbus Museum
