also APPARENTLY. herniated discs are supposed to get better on their own after 4-6 weeks. I've had one for almost 2 years. and it is better than it used to be, it is slowly improving, but im still having at least moderate pain every day. so I really don't know if the neurosurgeons suggested plan (go to a chiropractor and just fucking wait until it heals) is really feasible. bc I've been waiting and going to physical therapy and taking pain meds and anti inflammatory meds for almost two years now. and right now, almost two years into having this herniated disc, while on 900 mg of gabapentin, after doing my physical therapy exercises, I'm having stabbing back pain that is shooting down my leg, and I can't sit in my desk chair for longer than 15 minutes. and standing and walking hurt a lot too. so I've been lying in bed all day. which SUCKS. I'm tired of being in pain and not being able to do stuff!!!
#mine#this is just like. me processing feelings i think. takes me a while to process stuff sometimes (due to the autism)#amd the neurosurgeon appt was a week ago so im still working on processing my thoughts and emotions abt it.#and this is what im coming away with. i need to talk to my therapist abt this lmao. and probably my mom and my doctor.

Random advice: if you have a surgery involving bones and surgical hardware (screws, plates, etc..) and you're worried something is wrong, ask for a CT scan. You want a CT scan. Push for a CT scan.
#{domino talks}#i had a surgery and within the first four months or so worried something was wrong#we did x-rays and those were fine. i was 17.#ten fucking years later and i find out the fusion isn't complete#all these years we didn't do a ct scan until the neurosurgeon needed one because we're leaning towards surgery#prepping for future surgery - that's the only reason i'm finding this put#ask for a ct scan#maybe we would have done more for my pain#but at least now i have proof that âyeah no my pain isn't mysterious generalized painâ#can we please remove fibromyalgia from my diagnosises and put something more accurate! thx#i'm angry and honestly lucky that i lasted ten years (even if things sucked more than they should have)#i feel like at one point my mom was worried but since i was already brushed off about it i had to defend my health in order to be okay?#anyway shit's fucked and as patients this knowledge isn't our responsibility because it sounds a lot like common fucking sense#from a medical standpoint!#goodnight#realizing how much adults and medical professionals failed me really sucks#and now i'm the adult đ gonna try hard to not fail myself

Just read screenshots of the Aaron extra chapter and I have so many thoughts, so here they are:
It's always so funny to me to be reminded of the fact that the animosity between Aaron and Neil is mostly one-sided. Like, Neil finds Aaron frustrating, but all the antagonistic stuff he does to him is ultimately in service of helping him in some way and while he's angry when Aaron provokes him, he otherwise regards him with disinterest and even expresses the desire to see what he's like when he's relaxed and enjoying himself during the party with the Vixens. Meanwhile Aaron just really hates that man.
I really appreciated Nora using this chapter to clear up some of the gripes a lot of the fandom has had with Aaron's character in the past and confirm that Aaron's comments to Nicky have to do with his cousin making graphic and unwanted sexual advances on their teammates, and his accusations towards Neil were from a place of concern for his brother. I also liked that it was pointed out that of course he would have at least some internalized homophobia due to being raised by religious zealots in a conservative area, but is unlearning it due to Nicky.
On a similar note, I'm glad that we were provided the context that Nicky's inappropriate behavior is a defense mechanism to weed out people who might hurt him rather than legitimate advances, because I think the fandom tends to forget that he is also a character with extreme trauma written outside of the "perfect victim" stereotype. His actions aren't okay, but the entire point is that they are the result of what he's had to endure just like every other member of the team
The implication that Andrew specifically signed with the Foxes so Aaron could go to college
Aaron and Andrew have the same nervous habit of picking at loose thread
It causes me physical pain to see Andrew clearly trying to open up to Aaron about his self-harm, but because his way of communicating is less straightforward (he doesn't lie, but he because he stuggles to confront and be open with his emotions, he presents the truth in flowery, vague language) and because the two dont really know or understand each other, Aaron can't fully grasp the implications of what he's saying
On the subject of things that cause me physical pain: baby Aaron telling his mom that he wanted to be a neurosurgeon like the people on TV and her laughing and saying he'd never make anything of himself. Fuck Tilda Minyard, all my homies hate Tilda.
Andrew is so uncomfortable, someone Get Him Out of There.
Going off that and his nervous habits (that Aaron mentions he did often enough to be noticable as a habit premedication), I am highkey wondering if the reason Sober Andrew doesn't talk to anyone outside Neil is because he's just. Socially Awkward.
We get a little bit of insight into Andrew's "misogyny" (I personally think distrusting certain people as a result of extreme personal trauma is a little bit different than just being sexist, in the same way women distrusting men because they're used to being harassed and belittled isn't misandry, but that's up to your personal opinion) and that his distain for Katelyn comes from the fact that he thinks she's stringing Aaron along and will turn out to be awful like his previous girlfriends (there's also a notable implication that Aaron has the same self-destructive tendencies as Andrew, and may be why he went out of his way to get him into college and on the straight-and-narrow) also see that this extends to Bee as well despite their close relationship, with him being so afraid that she'd reject him for being gay that he can't even look at her while talking about Neil, probably made worse by the fact that she's a maternal figure for him, which is where this trauma response originates.
Aaron is the only person on the team who's aware that Andrew hasn't slept with Neil, and the only one to grasp the significance of the fact that they've gotten close to that point already despite Andrew's trauma, outside of Renee
It was overall really interesting to see inside Aaron's head (I actually wouldn't mind a book from his perspective, he has a similar way of thinking to Neil but much more grounded) and to see Andrew through the lense of someone who just views him as Just A Guy
#obligatory disclaimer that these are my OPINIONS#im not going to tolerate anyone being rude or hateful#aaron minyard#andrew minyard#aftg#aftg extra chapters#all for the game#all for the game extra chapters

Please say a prayer for my dad.
The last 2 things I asked prayers for were my dad being unemployed since May and he had emergency surgery back in February for perforated intestine, infection, had a colostomy then in May had surgery again to have it reversed. He went to the hospital earlier this week because he was having nausea and headaches since starting a new medicine about 6 weeks ago.
He called to make an appointment with his doctor and the system wouldn't even let her schedule something because he had headache and nausea. It just told her to tell him to go to the ER. They did a CT scan and found a brain tumor a little bigger than a golf ball. Neurosurgeon and oncologist wanted to operate ASAP so they didn't even want him to leave the hospital. They had surgery yesterday so now he's recovering from brain surgery.
He's still unemployed and is not doing well financially. He was actually supposed to have interviews both yesterday and the day before but had to cancel.
He has been through a lot this year. 3 MAJOR surgeries, prolonged unemployment, continued health issues, such difficulty with trying to get our prototype functional enough to get investors and more.
Please say a prayer for my mom and my siblings and my wife and me as well. We've all had health issues, job and financial issues, car issues, and helping each other through crises this year.
You guys are the best and your prayers mean so much. I'm praying for you too! God bless and thank you.

Abby Anderson modern day head-cannons
Parings - Abby Anderson if the apocalypse never happened
Tw- some nsfw at the end
An- this is both In general headcannons and relationships
Abbys father is a neurosurgeon so mans is loaded bro đ- abby def went to one of those hella expensive private schools.
Sheâs kinda old and new money
So Abby can go three ways ok
The typical basic blonde IT girl
Straight girl on the weight lifting team
Muscular masculine lesbian
I think we all know which one makes the most sense.
Abby wouldnât come out to her father about being a lesbian until like high school
Iâm pretty sure her mom died in the beginning of the apocalypse but it could be safe to assume that sheâs also a doctor in modern day
Abby would of gone to a really good university and become a neurosurgeon like her father
While in medical school she met Nora and Mel - they knew Owen and manny and thatâs how the group all met
She would of definitely done sports - so sports Abby did would be
Weightlifting
Basketball
Ice hockey
Sheâll go online and see the thirst edits and comments about her and laugh because sheâs not only flattered but sheâll find multiple women who are her type and like their comments.
HEAVVVYYY against college parties like girly is a student athlete and on a scholarship for her medical degree â sheâs always studying and doesnât want to do anything to ruin her scholarship
After she gets her degree she works in a well known and high paying hospital
Got a German Shepard and named her Alice
Graduated top of her class
A big football fan and if her school has a football team she would go to every home game.
You and Abby most likely met in college.
you two met after both taking a same extracurricular.
she had to actually prep talk herself into actually going up to you and talking to you
once she actually asked you out she was freaking out over wether or not you actually liked her (she had Nora help her pick out an outfit)
after a few dates she awkwardly asked if she could be your girlfriend. You said yes of-course
At first you thought the relationship would be hard since Abbyâs always busy but much to your surprise she always made time for you
After like a week together she took you to meet her parents, you were anxious as her parents were well known medical professionals but they welcomed you with open arms
Once she introduced you to the friend group you knew you were stuck with her.
Is overly protective of you- a guy hits on you sheâs passive aggressively getting into his face. Some girls are starting drama with you - sheâll tell them to fuck off . A teacher is refusing to take your paper late - Abby will go have a one on one possibly bribe the teacher to take your paper.
If you did well on exams sheâll take you out to a nice resturant however if you did poor sheâll reassure you take you to a comfort food restaurant and help you study next time.
Outside Abbyâs the sweetest most gentle person youâve ever seen however in the bedroom itâs completely different
Abby is the type of woman to take her time devouring you. She would spend hours between your thighs with her tongue on your clit and her thick fingers pumping in and out of you painfully slow
She can either be soft and loving whispering sweet nothings into your ear taking her time with you compaired to when she lost an important game or is stressed out about exams sheâll fuck you like no tomorrow, denying you your orgasm and degrading you, with her thick strap deep into you

Clean and comforting. The poster-room of an office, personalised, and yet retaining all the professional qualities necessary. The gentle swaying of the tulle that transformed the twinkling of a myriad of skyscrapers outside and a magnificent deep navy and inky black star-filled sky into a soothing haze, the ticking of a clock adorned with illustrations from the doctorâs favourite franchise. There was a unity even in the multicoloured shelves and cupboards. Stickers, kindly left behind by particularly pleased, proud and excited patients turned into permanent decorations on the sides of the otherwise strictly uniform desk, bringing relief and encouragement to its occupant. The newest additions - a small desk Christmas tree that was decorated on theme with the rest of the space, and a couple of garlands elegantly hung on the top cupboards and above the tulle served as reminders that it was, in fact, the festive season, and celebrations were only a day away. Even so, healthcare could not take a holiday, and the hospital was busier than ever.
âHey⊠do you like⊠Lego?â
It had been long enough since the beginning of the appointment, as Doctor Park Seonghwa had noted, but the little patient sitting in front of him was still refusing to succumb to the wrath of a âspooky scary needle that makes him go ouchyâ. Seonghwa could not blame the boy though - if there was something he never did, it was to project a childâs behaviour outwards into adult societal expectations. As a matter of fact, he rarely did that for adults too. He never saw the point, nor did he wish to impose some alternative spin on reality onto anyone who he had the pleasure of meeting, especially his patients or their relatives. As L/N Junseo crossed his arms in disapproval, Seonghwa could not help but spin a tiny fraction on his stool that he used during appointments such as this, and sneak another piece of sporadic scrutiny towards the mother. As he had assumed, there was little comfort to be offered from her side - she was sitting in a corner across the room, fanning herself and sending worried glances in the approximate direction of both the doctor and her son.
So, he had no choice left. He had to pull the most powerful weapons out of his arsenal - inspired by the many pieces that served as baubles on his desktop tree. Seonghwa was grateful that he had the foresight to not unpack the disposable syringe before checking the kidâs tolerance. Judging by the smile that spread across the boyâs face, and the confused expression gracing his motherâs, Seonghwa knew he hit the jackpot and there was potential for him to catch a break if the appointment did not run over, and if he was lucky enough, perhaps the main reason behind his rush would be free too. The simple thought inadvertently crawled into Seonghwaâs mind, and he lowered his gaze to suppress a shy smile and return to being the amiable paediatrician that he needed to be.
âNow, mister Junseo, will you wait a couple of seconds for me?â After receiving his patientâs enthusiastic nods of approval, he spun around on his stool, and rolled towards the cabinet that occupied the majority of the right wall of his office.
Stopping himself from crashing into his desk with a fast hand, he opened one of the lower doors to reveal a series of colour coded and labelled trays, each one filled to the brim with even more vibrant hues, but maintaining a strict order. Pulling the first and then the second tray from the top, the doctor inspected the contents, and decided to give the final decision to Junseo, turning to him with a grin on his face.
âDinosaurs or spaceships?â
âSpaceships!â just as Seonghwa had thought, this question broke through the storm clouds of doubt and fear, cutting right down to Junseoâs primary interests, some of which the young doctor just so happened to share â the only difference was that the latter had to also remember that he had a job to do, and that job involved convincing, or cleverly deceiving with good intentions, a little kid into a routine shot. It was hard not to wonder what your, his life partnerâs, reaction would be if you were in this room with him, considering that this environment was probably the furthest a space from your natural habitat - the operating room, could be.
âA man of good taste I see. I mean, dinosaurs are cool too, but I will let you in on a little secret⊠I have matching spaceship band aids,â As he pulled out the tray that contained some pre-built spaceships, with the bricks being from a younger-child-friendly set, along with stray pieces that turned the set into the perfect cognitive and sensory exercise, Seonghwa took time to explain his actions to the boy. In a way this was not too dissimilar from the preparation of instruments for surgery, so perhaps you would find joy in this interaction to the same extent as him. He shook his head lightly, reeling himself back to the matter at hand.
Sometimes, Seonghwa pondered whether too much of his budget, and, on occasion, personal finances, went towards making his office be more of a playground than what one would imagine âa doctorâs lairâ to be â in his mind, that was your office, one that he visited enough times to memorise. An ode to modernity, with books and documents, diagrams and an anatomically accurate model of a brain with various labels - just what one would expect of a real doctor. But both fortunately and unfortunately, this was a style that Seonghwa would not attempt to achieve in his own office. There was a mat on the floor made out of foam puzzle pieces, there was every form of toy transport he could find, animals, dolls⊠he swore he appeared in toy stores more regularly than in the pharmacy at this point. But the joy with which his patientsâ faces lit up was more than encouraging, reminding him that he was on the right path, he was doing well, and that everything was worth it.
âNO WAY!â Junseo yelled out, excitedly kicking his feet. The paper towels that lined the bench rustled slightly, the link between the sheets being stress tested â much like the mother, who appeared to be speechless, but at least no longer faint.
Seonghwa imagined that his present conclusions and responsive actions were not too distant from how teachers felt when they saw a certain type of action be executed by a child, and then saw its origins during parent teacher conferences. The conclusion had come to his mind on its own accord but resounded loudly enough for him to send a reassuring gleam to Missus in the corner, and observe her delayed reactions as she, evidently, was battling the instinct to throttle him to the ground and save her child from danger. How wild and fascinating the generational sharing of fears and burdens was. Seonghwa turned his attention back to the star of the show, who was eagerly waiting for the eloquently advertised, and much anticipated, spaceships.
âYes way! And I can show them to you later.â Seonghwa responded with a chuckle, setting the tray next to the boy, making him turn to the side and better expose the arm that was to receive the intramuscular injection. Even though Junseo was now fully immersed in the toy provided, he still expressed his gratitude, forcing the man to use every ounce of strength in him to not melt.
âThank you so much Doctor Park!â
"No, thank you! Lego is my favourite, you know, but if you picked dinosaurs, you could have heard my tyrannosaurus rex impression." He could hear some shuffling outside of the room, turning into a thud as he introduced his âspecial abilityâ when it came to distraction tactics. It was straining, conducting all his appointments without a nurse, since quite a number had arranged to go on holiday for Christmas, including his favourite in the form of a tall man with the brightest smile and enough energy to power the whole building - Jeong Yunho. Was it a challenge for Seonghwa? Perhaps, but he was coping. Besides, would he really want anyone here with him except a certain someone who was not even in this specialisation?
"Awh... no... but that sounds so fun I wanna hear, I wanna hear!!!" The cute boy was practically begging, giving Seonghwa his best puppy dog eyes with a turn of his head â that would not do for the doctorâs mission, however, Junseo needed to be practically in a different realm for it to work.
"Could you attach this jet engine please?" In the softest voice he could muster, Seonghwa guided attention back to the spaceships, commenting on how well Junseo was assembling them. He infinitely admired the ability that children had to disregard common practices, ignore rules and simply create. As Junseo would get older, he would undoubtedly have to succumb to standardisation, but in the meantime, he could enjoy picking a wild palette of coloured bricks, not think about astrophysics when constructing the ships, and be perfectly satisfied with what he was crafting.
"Mhm..."
Using the moment of distraction, Seonghwa turned and reached for the hand sanitiser pump on his desk, cleaning his hands. With practised motions, as he returned to his seat in front of the kid, the doctor took out the prefilled syringe out of the pocket of his white coat, peeling the decontamination seal to fish the item out. He had a small window of opportunity and needed to act fast to seize it. From the other pocket, he produced a packet with an alcohol swab, carefully tearing it, as far away from Junseo as possible so that he would not be shocked by the smell.
"Now, Junseo, could you sit a little closer to me, so... oh thank you!" The child obediently shuffled, not taking his eyes off the Lego pieces. "You might feel a little cold on your arm, but don't worry I will roar that away, okay, you with me? Ah wait, how do we make that ship the strongest in the galaxy?" breath in, breath out. Watching the childâs movements so that he would not accidentally hurt himself. Lifting the sleeve of the t-shirt the Junseo was wearing ever so slightly, Seonghwa crept towards the bench on his wheeled stool, praying to every higher power that he would be done with this appointment soon, but retaining his professionalism. It was now or never.
"Imma show you-"
"Nyaaaaaaah~"
As soon as Seonghwa started, he was done, and the syringe was long hidden behind his back as he pressed a cotton ball to the area, though Junseo could not care less, having broken into a fit of giggles over the interesting interpretation of a t-rex. No matter how exhausted he was, this was one of the things the doctor lived for â having the ability to make medicine, doctorâs visits, and hospitals just a little bit less miserable for the little ones, something of a game or an adventure, him being of the opinion that these pocket-sized humans did not deserve to be exposed to the struggles quite yet. If it was in his power, he would have changed the âquite yetâ to never, but that was far too utopian, and something wiped out of him in first year of medical school. So, Doctor Park simply tried his best.
"DOCTOR PARK THAT WAS NOT A ROAR!!!" Junseo proclaimed, still giggling as he clutched onto a bright green brick. Seonghwa chuckled, sliding to the left to dispose of the syringe in a biohazard bin, stretching himself out so that he could still keep holding the cotton ball. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see the mother beginning to come to her senses, the âhigh alertâ mode dropping to a more manageable, generally healthy parental worry.
"Then come on, show me what you've got. I bet you have a-"
"ROOOOOOOOOAAAAAR!!!" With him being startled by what he should have expected, he could not help but throw a glance at the other adult in the room, finding her surprised. Hands clasped together, she whispered âgoodness graciousâ, and upon finding out that she had a one-man audience, gave a sheepish grin and looked down. Seonghwa was calming down from his âperformanceâ, the doctor, actor, caregiver and child-friendly comedian in him began to leave his body, giving way to a straightforward happiness of a man who could see that he helped out people in need.
"Wow now that is IMPRESSIVE Mister Junseo! Ah wait, could you hold this for me?â he gestured towards the cotton ball, and once the boy complied, backed away to get some more hand sanitiser. âWe are done!"
"Huh? Wait... no ouchy?" genuinely confused, the toddler asked, dropping the Lego pieces entirely and blinking in slow motion.
"We scared the ouchy away with spaceships and your awesome roar, didn't we?"
"WE DID!! WE DID!!" With the cotton forgotten, Junseo was about to hop off the bench, his hands pressed into the dark grey material he had been sitting on, but before he could Seonghwa caught him, easily picking the boy up in his arms despite the weight that it put on him. After all, patients came first, and this was always a clear sign that he was trusted â besides, the kid did not have any other ailments, so a little hug would not hurt anyone, especially not Seonghwaâs soul.
"We did! I promised you a cool band aid too so... ah hold on let me... watch your head please." With Junseo still in his arms, Doctor Park ambled towards the other side of the office, closer to where the mother was now standing, to reach into one of the shelves and retrieve the packet of what he considered to be something akin to achievement stamps. A final well done from him to the patient, for being so courageous and letting Seonghwa poke them with a needle.
The rest of the appointment went by in a blur. The boy was safely back in his motherâs arms, sporting a colourful bandaid, babbling away about spaceships, quietly repeating Seonghwaâs dinosaur impression, and emphasising for the umpteenth time that âthe injection actually did not hurt at allâ, much to the motherâs delight. She looked to be on cloud nine as she held her bundle of joy, and even though he was bouncing on her lap to the point where the doctor would assume that she was in discomfort, the woman showed no sign, and instead gleamed at him, expressing genuine gratitude.
"So sorry for all the trouble and that I could not help in any way, please accept my-"
"No need no need! Junseo is such a sweet boy, and it was all his bravery in the end. I am just doing my job." He tried to assure her, flipping through the vaccination booklet she had provided and filling out the details of the shot. While checking the date just in case, despite him having a mental countdown to Christmas with the precision down to an hour practically built into his brain, he still noted the clock on his computer, memorising the time in order to figure out when approximately you would be done with the surgery you had arranged for this evening. Maybe he would have enough time to stop by your department, and manage to catch you there to ask about what plans for celebration you two would dare have in between busy schedules. His attention was guided back to the jovial duo on the armchair, as the mother spoke once more.
"You perform miracles, Doctor Park. Really. You are truly one of a kind! Before today I was convinced that he was wired to cry at every appointment..." she lowered her voice a little, just as Junseo turned away to pick at one of his trouser pockets.
"If you are worried about him developing any phobias and the like, I can recommend some amazing medical experts who can work with you and him?" Whenever anyone voiced a concern, he took it as part of his responsibility to respond wholeheartedly, and as such, once he completed the record, offered assistance. Perhaps this was also a safe zone for him, a removal from what otherwise would inevitably make his heart melt or ache. But to no avail.
"Oh no, no, I think I found the cure right here. Really, my husband will be so impressed about this!â
Husband. Happy family. There it was. Seonghwa felt the corner of his mouth twitch as he lifted himself off his chair, shut the booklet and returned it to the mother, and wife. It was difficult to convince himself that this was not jealousy tugging at his nerves and heartstrings, as the more he pondered the image of what had to be a perfect union, the dinners, the days out in the park, the little meet ups for lunch if either partner was otherwise busy⊠the domesticity got to him and made him want to slam the table in frustration. So, he did the next best thing, and clasped his hands behind his back so that he would not dare act out of line.
âIs that so?â he forced out, remaining composed as he returned the motherâs bows while she ushered her son forward and stood up to head for the door. He could not help but imagine the duo walking under the lights that adorned every shop, every street and coming home to their own tree, coming together as a small family in a cosy atmosphere. Similar routines, similar time off, the space to love and to live and to enjoy being âoneâ to the fullest.Â
âI think he will want to come with us next time, to meet you, really⊠of course if you don't mind us scheduling check-ups with you from now on?" meet him⊠so Seonghwa could see the whole assembly⊠Really, right in the moment when his head was filled with thoughts of you, he had to be reminded of just how adorable some aspects of paediatrics could be, to the degree of malicious irritation.Â
He bet that the reason why you were so relaxed about your relationship was because you were not in direct contact with families and cute kids, for the most part. The closest you came to communicating with patients was in briefing, de-briefing and maintenance of their condition pre- and post- operation. He had to see the bad and good, the downs and ups, the rollercoasters and the memorable highs over long periods of time. Some of his patients he had known for so long, they were basically his relatives, and the personifications of sunshine that would rush to greet him, nearly stumbling over tiny shoes and sometimes barely reaching his waist, or even mid-thigh, restored his faith in the universe. It was exactly because he was aware of the downsides, and still desired this closeness and this next step with you, that he was cursing time itself for not allowing him to express this hope properly. Sure, you had discussed marriage, and both of you were more than committed to one another, but no words had been said about the part where someone popped the question. Was there ever going to be âthe right timeâ? Especially when both of you were at the early stages of your medical careers, and were caught adrift in the chaotic shifts, training, exams and had to sacrifice yourselves for thousands who came through the doors of the hospital.
"Ah, whatever you would prefer, Missus Hwang. It would be an honour.â He squashed his nerves for the remainder of the appointment, and peacefully parted with the two visitors to KQ Hospital, wishing them the happiest holidays and for a stable recovery from the vaccination.Â
Seonghwa remained standing in the corridor, his back propping the door to the office. Closing his eyes, he listened to the opening of the elevator, and let out a breath he did not know he had been holding once Junseoâs excited, shrill voice was muted by the doors. Gears moved into action as the machine carried the mother and son away from the paediatric ward. The doctor rolled his head in an attempt to relieve at least some of the tension that had built up from the back-to-back out-patient care, the abominable late nights, and the vexatious haze that plagued him in his own life.
It was going to be a long night. And he was barely a quarter of the way through his night shift; perhaps the winter cold and the shorter days were to blame for the melancholy mood. As he straightened himself up once more, Seonghwa instinctively reached for the phone that was hidden in the pocket of his black trousers, hoping for any kind of distraction. Checking the time, messages, whether you had even seen his text about the maintenance people coming to check the plumbing next week⊠any sign that there was a world beyond his job. But the communication flatlined, and he resorted to simply staring at his lockscreen: a picture of the two of you during that one vacation that you had managed to book together. The one where, three days in, both of you had severe work withdrawal, but thankfully laughed it off and soothed the pain by falling asleep in each otherâs arms. That was what he missed. The simple things. If there was one thing he wished for this Christmas, it was for you and him to spend it together - no one else, no pagers going off incessantly, no family members intruding on your time, not even friends. He missed you, even though you were right there. Of course, he still felt blessed to be able to embrace you almost every time you two would be floating into dreamland - be it in the morning or in the evening, aside from when shifts did not align, but he craved more, always. Maybe he was being greedy, wanting for even more of your time. Nonetheless, he hoped that his readiness to sacrifice all of his for you would, at some point, result in his most romantic dreams, akin to castles in the sky, coming true. He wished to well and truly build a life with you. Seonghwa had never thought that he would pay so much attention to labels, but something about settling down officially, being together âin sickness and in healthâ, as he had heard in the vows at his friendsâ weddings, was leaving him in a state of longing, constantly, until it was a permanent buzzing in his head.
"So... Doctor Seong-nyah-" rudely tearing through his daydreams, a familiar voice startled the doctor, causing him to gasp and shove his mobile phone into his pocket with panicked haste.
"Wooyoung, don't test me, you are not my patient." Seonghwa gasped, and retorted with sudden venom, spinning to face the man who, evidently, had been loitering around in the corridor behind him for a lot longer than he would ever accept.
"But I want a sticker or a bandaid please~"
But the action only resulted in a stupor, as right there, hands in pockets, the ghost of a mischievous smile on perfectly tinted lips, was his favourite person. Doctor L/N Y/N, neurosurgeon, and definitely the one who had changed his brain wiring to short circuit every time he saw you. Before Wooyoung got any cheekier due to the lack of a response and the less than discreet gawking from Seonghwaâs end, he forced out a random commentary; anything to keep himself from going into cardiac arrest.
"You keep stealing my Disney princess ones anyways!?"
"Can't help it. Besides I've seen you snatch the toy sword so consider us even."
A light blush was threatening to coat his cheeks as he gazed at you, mesmerised by your cheerful reaction. Without a doubt you were imagining the scene, and had you been alone, would coo at âjust how endearingâ it was. This was not the kind of âbreak between appointmentsâ that he was imagining, and while you were here, before him, very obviously free, Seonghwa was questioning whether this was a manifestation of luck or a curse.
"That was for safety⊠and⊠uh⊠hello my love.â he mumbled, while you smiled at him, and gave him a gentle wave, already anticipating that even if you were to speak, you would crack and reveal what you had been planning - a major step forward that had been plaguing your mind at almost all hours, even in rare snippets of quiet. Technically, what you had said to Seonghwa was true - it had been an operation, just of a different kind. Careful to not let the mandatory Santa hat you had tugged on your head as part of your departmentâs senior residentsâ effort to âkeep the spirits upâ slip, you adjusted it to be more snug, and rapidly returned your attention to your boyfriend, who was intently studying you, admiring every detail as though he had not seen each one a million times over.
"Y/N here found the dinosaur impression cute, just so you know." Stuck in a limbo between locking himself in his office and throttling Wooyoung to the ground, Seonghwa chose neither and was simply amazed at how you could remain so nonchalant.
"Were both of you⊠listening to the⊠but that is not-â
You and Wooyoung exchanged a knowing look, causing suspicion to rise in Seonghwa. He was not fond of it. Not in the slightest. There was something brewing, and that glint in your eyes was less than reassuring. What were you hiding from him? A million questions a second ran through his mind as he subjected you to scrutiny. First off, you had said that the surgery could be challenging. And yet he could not detect the slight furrowing in your brows, the slouch, the pursed lips that you normally had if you were monitoring a patient in critical condition.
"They were around the department, and I just so happen to know that you are a certified clown so..." Wooyoung began, purposefully winding the taller man up until he was ready to break the Hippocratic oath and cause harm.
"Says the person who can literally replace the fire alarm with his-"
âThis is why you should follow my methods and do the whole âenergy drink and coffeeâ cocktail before those ghostly long shifts, I tell you-â crossing his arms, Wooyoung appeared to be enjoying every moment he spent teasing his fellow colleague, ignoring how you were starting to get impatient, glancing down the corridor and back to the bickering friends.
âHow even-â
"Well, I would more than like to consult the lovely, charming clown please, because I have a whole circus on my hands and need some help.â
That was all that was needed to regain all attention back. Seonghwa gave Wooyoung one last sidelong stare before focusing on you, attempting to figure out just what you were scheming. He knew better than to pry, however, if there was anyone in your relationship who was an expert in dissecting, be it literally or metaphorically, it would be you. That was exactly why he stood and waited with bated breath, fingertips dancing on his upper thigh. In trepidation, the young manâs mind replayed every shared moment with unfathomable clarity, leading him to wonder if this mischievous glint in your stunning orbs was further foreshadowing, much like your sudden announcement that you would be working the same hours as him today, and upon questioning passed it off as âa bit of Christmas luckâ.Â
âRightâŠâ Wooyoungâs voice appeared distant, barely audible against the thrum of nervousness and lighthearted suspicion. Running a hand through his wavy, neatly parted long hair Seonghwa gave you a lopsided grin before following you down the corridor and giving his colleague an amiable wave, along with a cheerful call of âsee you laterâ. His friend had the whole night ahead of them - much like you and Seonghwa. Except, unfortunately, you and your partner were floors, departments away. Not that far in the grand scheme of things, but far enough for Seonghwaâs heart to start hurting when he least expected it.
Just like now, despite you being within armâs reach, the proximity reminded him of just how much of a luxury such moments were, and how, should anything go wrong, you would metaphorically evaporate. The beeping of a pager would be enough to make you or him leave, that damned device having to be strapped on and prioritised above everything else. As less and less time remained until Christmas, the probability of it going off climbed higher and higher, so every step was a risk, and every scheduled consultation or out-patient care call when Seonghwa was mandated to hand off his monitoring duties to another resident - a temporary salvation.
You were in your scrubs, and were sporting a standard issue doctorâs coat, ever so professional. Though your back was facing him, Seonghwa could easily imagine the identity card clipped to the pocket above your heart, along with the embroidered hospital name and emblem, and your department. Neurosurgery. The top of the top, an art and a science so complex that Seonghwa was in awe of you eternally. How you dedicated your life to the mystery behind a personâs eyes, and how you could heal the terrifyingly enigmatic organ with astounding success. Determined, passionate in all ways, that was what had drawn the enamoured man to you, and what had made him fall deeper and deeper and vow to stay for as long as you would allow him. Would you be fine with him tagging along, just like this? Would you be willing to walk in the same stride?
âHwa,â turning your head, you exclaimed your boyfriendâs nickname and then turned back to scan your pass to let you both through to another corridor, âhow has your day been so far, lovely?â
âItâs been good, not too bothersome. Last appointment was a vaccination - not sure how or why the literal holidays were chosen for this, but who am I to judge,â looking around, Seonghwa responded. Quickly, he caught up to you, and in a matter of moments you felt how his fingers intertwined with yours, and his palm was pressed against you, as though a mirror image. Jigsaw pieces falling into a perfect union, your hands, stilled in harmony.Â
âMaybe not everyone wants to skip school,â you mused, poking fun at the times when your boyfriend did just that - at least before university and him choosing to major in medicine hit like a truck; in the blissful middle and high school days, so easy in retrospect - a fever dream.Â
âIâd love to hear what the little patient would think about that one⊠but really, Christmas? Why would you run the risk of having side effects over Christmas?â
âThatâs true⊠but I bet you made the appointment a really good time. In fact, from what I have heard I am sure you did,â you teased, making Seonghwa squeeze your hand and click his tongue in pretend annoyance.
âHey, Iâm trying my best here-â
â-and you are making the world a better place,â you cut him off, squeezing back and urging him on, closer and closer to your final destination.Â
Seonghwa shook his head, bewildered at the sudden outburst of affection. You were normally not the kind to get too sappy at work - if anyone, it was him who would gush about the simplest things to you during a brief lunch break, while you would be nodding along with a grin on your face. You were excited about something, without a doubt. What it was, however, was beyond him, so he let you lead, while playfully questioning your behaviour.
âWhatâs gotten into you? Did you forget to put the plates back in the cupboard at home?â he squinted, slightly relieved when you chuckled but still left without a concrete answer:
âCanât I praise the love of my life every once in a while?â
âYou can, but-â
â-Besides, Yeosang, you know, my friend from paediatric neurosurgery, he said kids who you had treated talk about you non-stop. Maybe you should pay some of them a visit. If their treating doctors allow it, of course.â
Eyes widening, Seonghwa barely noticed you slipping away from him to grab a large bag you had stationed by a heavy exit door, and in bewilderment was concerned if he should believe your overwhelmingly kind message. All those little lives he had the honour of getting to know and trying his best to help⊠remembering him? It was at times like these, even the hardest days were worth it. For the present and for the future. He returned to reality only when he felt a gust of freezing cold air hit his form and goosebumps ran over his skin. Your proud, loving smile greeted him and encouraged him to walk on. When Seonghwa attempted to query your spontaneous adventurism, you waved it off - forward, only forward. Making a note of something fluffy in texture peeking out of the bag, he hoped for it to be at least a scarf; a doctor should know to not expose themselves to the risk of colds.Â
You led Seonghwa to one of the many secluded areas of the hospital - forgotten by most staff, this portion of the roof was the prettiest at night, when the lights of surrounding high rises and the rest of the metropolis stretching out as far as the eye could see all glimmered like a blanket of stars laid down on the precious planet. The city, forever awake, bustling with activity. A hand brushed against his upper arm, and he turned his head to see you holding his coat that he swore he had left in the call room. Gingerly, the article was in his grasp, and yet another question was travelling for you to tackle:
âNow when did you get this? I know I did not just leave it lying around.â
âMhm, call room. Coat hanger. By the door. I am very aware. I picked it up on the way.â
âSounds like someone had a lot of timeâŠâ trailing off, Seonghwa put on the coat, watching as you did the same. Apparently, that was not all that was in the bag, and with each item that was revealed, his surprise grew and grew.
âJust enough to prepare a little something,â in one swift movement, you caught your boyfriend off guard with sudden Santa hat attack - nearly covering his eyes with the white fluff, previously styled hair shooting out in different directions from under the accessory, you still deemed the mission successful, and giggled, elaborating: ânow, we match.â
He could not not love you. Much like the nights in December were dark and his exhales turned to steam that was to be whisked away by the wind, he was confident in the fact that he was born to love you, and only you. It was funny to think that years ago he thought of other kinds of forever, only for them to fall apart in months. Seonghwa mused about different realities, but was never afraid of losing them until inevitably happened; not because he did not care at all, but because his heart was never in the right place. Now that his heart was home, it was clear. Most of all, the clearest sign of the truth that belonged to your relationship, was the subconscious fear, continuous and blended into every note of adoration. It was in his love for you that he found what it meant to be afraid to lose.Â
The young man did not want to lose these priceless moments - how you would make an elaborate plan and surprise him with it. How out of nowhere, before his very eyes was a blanket that you laid down on the roof, a portable heater that emitted a glow akin to that of a campfire, and a large wool throw that he assumed you wished to use to keep you both warm. That shine that he swore was coming from something heavenly within you as you dragged him to take a seat, your adorable cooing over him as you wrapped the two of you tight with the throw, and scooched until your body was pressed against his. On instinct, Seonghwaâs arm was around you, and he leaned in until he could smell the faint, comforting aroma of your strawberry shampoo. Staring into the heater, he imagined a gentle flame, falling into a beautiful daydream - a world where there was just you and him.
This was a long-standing fantasy of his, a picture of which he had painted for you many times while you counted stars on the ceiling of your bedroom, drifting off to sleep just before the chirping of the birds, the dawn bidding you farewell and wishing a good rest. Somewhere nowhere, in a place with no name, surrounded by no one and nothing, you two could stay for a little while and indulge in simplicity. An escape from the daily stresses, a dive into the daily bliss of being enamoured and having found oneâs soulmate. In a little cottage that you two could rent out, with a little spot outside so you could pretend like you were properly camping, Seonghwa prayed for time in an earthly utopia.Â
âI couldnât find sticks, So I hope you are fireproof,â a marshmallow was held between two delicate fingers right before his eyes. A large, white cloud and a hint that you might have been listening a lot more intently than you had let on.Â
âI- are we- are we about to be toasting marshmallows?â
âYes.â
âOkay,â the doctor followed your lead, stretching out his hand to the heater, imagining the marshmallow roast away; if Seonghwa were to squint hard enough, he could almost see the colour change.
A giggle escaped you, and you huddled into him, at peace due to the safety which you always said he naturally oozed. Without fail you told him how he was a walking spring day, a blessing, a shining star. The more you said it, the more confident he became in accepting the words as truth, and then, one day when he caught you admiring him from afar while waiting for him to finish rounds, acceptance turned into a fact. By loving you, and by letting you love him, Seonghwa learned to love himself. Thoughts of fond memories prompted him to give you a gentle poke, making you lift your head in perplexion. This, however, was quickly dispelled by a the sweetest kiss, deepened by a gentle hand that found purchase on the nape of your neck.
Lips so familiar, so addicting; each time they met was the kindling of a miniature paradise. A journey through time, to end only in the future, the present turned into a miracle in which he could immerse himself, all of his senses attuned to you. The touch of your lips was the rays of a sun in May, kind and soothing, blossoming into the finest beauty and the most satisfying serenity on verdant green leaves and gorgeous flowers. The only thing he could hear was the breeze creeping across the not quite as picturesque cement and metal, and the ghost of a mumble of âI love youâ as you parted for air, still close enough to share it.
Lost in your eyes, Seonghwa wished he could never be found. He was willing to endlessly draw the maze that trapped him in them, adapting it to formulate a personal infinity. Eyelashes, eyebrows, nose, cheeks, lips, every blemish and freckle and scar were all priceless to him. You, in all your personal divinity, a universe that so intently studied him, loved every part unconditionally and invited him in to do the same. A symbiosis, a system of two stars orbiting one another - a gorgeous celestial waltz was how he saw you and him. Under the night sky full of constellations, you two were still the brightest. Seonghwaâs heart was full. He ever so softly let his hand slide to the side of your face, thumb gliding slowly over the skin of your cheek. Once, twice - perpetual motion, each one marking another second in which love grew stronger, and the yearning for his dream more intense. If only he could put it into words. And yet, courage only allowed him to muster a mere two which were far too general, ambiguous:
âThank you.â
âI am glad we could do this,â you answered, sharing in his delight. You did not need anything else, seeing past the mellow, pleasant triviality.
âI think the only downside is that now I want to do this all the time,â his hand guided your head into the crook of his neck, so you could sit side by side, looking out into the urban expanse. Silence weighed on you, until a long-awaited suggestion reached Seonghwaâs ears.
âWell⊠we could. At least for Christmas.âÂ
âAs if we will be taking days off, yeah.â
âWho says we wonât?â
âI- huh?âÂ
You took his hands in yours, and shuffled for you to be face to face. Much to your astonishment, when it came down to the critical moment when you would start being blatantly obvious in your intentions, you were not as anxious anymore. Everything felt more than right, and the comfortable quietude resembled the globe holding its breath for you.Â
âI have an idea,â your boyfriend was intrigued, but doubtful. He had hopes, sure, but he knew better than to keep them up, âso⊠ahem, well, for us it is standard practice to not schedule anything major on holidays, just in case, and thankfully I could⊠reschedule some thingsâŠâ
âUh-huh,â he nodded along, raising his eyebrow. Your hands held his more tightly on their own accord, shaking a little as you spoke.
âWell, so, yeah, you know how the head of⊠the head of paediatrics is a big family person right?â
âYeah, comes with the job I suppose, and?â tongue darting over his lips, Seonghwa began to sense what you were getting at, and he swore there was not enough oxygen to sustain him, and a dizziness settled over his mind, clouding it, leaving behind only you, you, you-
âHm⊠well⊠I think they would be more than happy to let a new family celebrate together⊠yeah?â
â...YeahâŠyeah?â
âSo what Iâm saying is-â
âWill you marry me?â
âBeat me to it,â gleaming, you pulled him in, stopping a mere few millimetres away, seeking approval.
Hints of tears welling in his deep brown eyes induced your own. Pressed forehead to forehead, you memorised every tiny detail, how you felt, how Seonghwa felt, how you were both fondly mumbling âyes's and âalwaysâs and âI love youâs over and over again; vows uttered at the beginning of a new chapter of a miraculous life, in perfect harmony.
âIâm sorry for the âno ringâ situation-â
âIâd marry you with paper rings,â Seonghwa responded at the speed of light, quoting one of the many songs that both of you loved to listen to, and would blast in the living room many times over, âhow did you even plan this-â
âDonât bash me, but Wooyoung was an accomplice-â
âOf course he was,â he flicked your nose with his and guided you into another kiss, your hat sliding away and almost falling to the ground, saved only by Seonghwaâs reflexes. Smiling against your lips, he only deepened the sensual expression of devotion, parting simply to confess,
âTo think we were rehearsing the same thing but I was too scared to say it.â
âYou are too precious. And Iâm sorry if Iâm too scary, angel,â you winked, earning an amused, airy laugh.
This could not be the furthest from how Seonghwa felt; the notion of you terrifying him was hilarious. Everything but you was the issue. You were his safe haven, his clarity. The one to whom he had already given away all his hours, be it in closeness or in his dreams both in the day and night. You were his and he was yours, and now that the one change he had been begging all the goodness in the galaxy for finally happened, he wanted to shout this from every rooftop, starting from this fated, isolated spot that must have been made for just you two.Â
âNo, I am just more certain that you can read minds,â he gestured to the heater, the untouched marshmallows, the stars, and finally stopped at you, alluding to what was to be your proposal, turned mutual.
âJust because I poke around brains-â you began, only to be stopped by unparalleled cuteness in the form of a scrunched up face and a tiny smirk.
âYeah, yeah, you arenât even a cardiologist and you stole my heart-â
âPark Seonghwa, cease the flirting, we are getting married-â playfully, you slap his shoulder.
âOh, you only saw the beginning,â a wiggle of the eyebrows. Your very soul fluttered at the sight of his megawatt grin, and the innocent peck left on your cheek.
â...I hope so,â your wish. To cherish the many sides, colours, shades, edges, angles of your spectacular Seonghwa.
âItâs decided. Iâll hit you with all the festive pick up lines starting tomorrow.â
As you settled back into an embrace, regarding the golden glow of your inner oasis that transposed onto all, previously dark, surroundings, you unwillingly played the role of the realist.
âAsk your department head first.â
âFor a blessing?â
âNo, silly, to confirm your freedom.â
âYes, Docâ,â in jest, your fiance saluted you, and you wrapped your arms tighter around his waist, brushing your jaw against his shoulder.
âPage me after."
âI will page myself across the hospital to tell you.â
âAwh, my Seonghwa Claus and my present in one,â absent-mindedly, you reached for a stubborn strand of his hair to push away, and twirled it around your digits, careful to not ruin the perfect balance of the themed hat beneath which they tried to establish their own order, threatening to disturb your elated angel.Â
âMy future spouse- oh Iâll be saying this so often.âÂ
From one day to the next, under the sun and moon, with many seasons passing by, you became the time that you seeked and previously fought against. As you looked to one another for more and more in your lives, it was destined that eventually, the idea of any other path would be simply impossible. At the end of a year came a new beginning, witnessed by the observant stars and by the long winter night.
âMe too, my love, until I can call you my husband.â

honestly I love Chase's character and how everything about him is kinda controversial
House calls him idiot an like half of the episodes, but after House he has the most solved cases and he's the one who takes over his position
He's shown as lazy and such but he has like 3.5 a half specialisations (intensivist, surgeon, cardiologist and almost a neurosurgeon according to wiki) before he's 26 (or 30, if I remember right they said like two different age for him in the same season) and he was also in a seminary for a time
He's a spoiled nepo baby, but he took care of his alcoholic mom and baby sister as a teen and his father left him out of his will
He's so interesting and my favourite character in the whole show

ch. lxx - good girl
neurosurgeon!hongjoong Ă reader
buy me coffee ?
where love and peace is held, i never expected for this to happen. i planned and i planned, i expected, and i hoped, but it was never you. you held what i wanted hostage to make room for you, the thing that i needed but has no means of acceptance. deny me, live your best life.
At this point, you found yourself in somewhat of a choreographed dance with the father and son duo manoeuvring the child in question. Usually, you would have to move quickly between taking Kijoong's things out of the car and making sure that he wouldn't make a run for it, even going as far as installing a car seat, iPad holder, and small containers of cereal and snacks, effectively turning your car into a mom car. Now, you simply needed to focus on Kijoong because Hongjoong would instinctively take your bag and any of Kijoong's belongings with him. Then, the two of you would basically lock Kijoong's hands in each of yours and making sure that Kijoong wouldn't have any means of escaping or running away as your bodies would block his sides.
You both call it "inmate transfer" and others pointed out that it's actually called "the family hold". You both were confident that "inmate transfer" is correct.
"I think I stuffed myself stupid," Hongjoong huffed, taking a moment to readjust his pants before resuming the walk back to the elevator from his dedicated parking spot. You couldn't help but snicker in amusement at the way he was so comfortable with you, totally different from the person you first knew less than three months ago. "I told you not to get a second plate, Joong, this is all on you," you teased which caused Kijoong to chirp, "Yeah, Joong," he teased, sticking his tongue out at his dad. Hongjoong squinted his eyes at the two of you, "Hey, I finished my main course, I EARN that dessert. And you had some, (y/n), you can't talk shit about my decision," he huffed before crouching down to Kijoong's height, "And that's daddy to you, mister," he said, poking Kijoong's nose.
Teasingly, you raised an eyebrow at Hongjoong, "You asked me to spend my day off with you and Kijoong, I think I reserve the right to call you out for eating a plate of two waffles drenched in maple syrup and ice cream after finishing a whole ass pasta by yourself. And while we're on the subject, who eats carbonara at 10 am?" "Yeah, Joong, who?" Kijoong teased again, this time drawling to poke fun at his dad even more. "A hungry man using food as a reward for a week of hard work," he said in a mocking tone, causing you to raise an eyebrow, "So is this your way of telling me that I've done a good job?" you teased.
"Do you think you've done a good job?"
Suddenly there was a wave of seriousness over the two of you (Kijoong was blissfully unaware, of course, what with kicking pebbles around as he held onto your hands). You momentarily stop in your steps to look at Hongjoong, "What?" Hongjoong stopped in his tracks as well to look back at you, "Do you think you've done a good job so far? Are you satisfied? Are you happy working here?" Already had a feeling that the discussion was coming, you wasted no time in going straight to the point, "Is this about my employment ending?" Hongjoong was kind of glad that you brought it up first as he didn't really know how to say those exact words (In all honesty, Hongjoong didn't know how to say a lot of things to you but one conversation at a time). "Kind of, yeah," Hongjoong confirmed.
For a moment, you pursed your lips and resorted to continuing your walk to the elevator as Kijoong, still in his own world, tried to get you to kick the pebbles with him.
Feeling obligated to explain, Hongjoong opened his mouth again, "I should clarify, I'm not asking you because I'm reviewing your work or anything. In fact, I just want to know if you're happy which I think is the biggest factor in sticking with a job." You could tell that he was trying his best to not be confrontational and your lack of answer would soon make him cry. "Good because if that was your way of firing me after all that we have been through, I would be so pissed, I'd actually give Kijoong back his toy gun." Hearing his name and toy, Kijoong perked up and started jumping excitedly, "MY GUN!?" he exclaimed, hopeful but you immediately shot it down, patting his head with your free hand, "No sweetie, and please don't interrupt your daddy and I are talking."
Relieved, Hongjoong chuckled and shook his head, "At this point, it would make more sense if you leave in the middle of the night and move away to Antarctica or something. But I know you wouldn't," "Hey, I might," you pointed out, rolling your eyes, "Push my buttons enough times and I'll pull a disappearing act so fantastic, it would get Best Performance award at the Grammys or something." Hongjoong's eyes widened, thinking that you were serious, "What, you mean to tell me that you'd consider leaving us?" there was a slight panic in his voice that made you crack out rather loudly, "Oh my God, Joong, calm down! I was just joking! You know I love working with you and I'll be honest, I'm kind of attached to the cutie pies of apartment 801 so it would take a lot for me to not want to continue working with you," you said lightheartedly, pinching Kijoong's cheek affectionately.
It was only when you both stepped inside the elevator that Hongjoong realized what you just said. "Wait, did you just say 'cuties'? As in plural?" Confusedly, you raised an eyebrow at him, "Um, yeah? Why do you think I keep feeding you? You're basically Kijoong-sized XL and I love the boy to bits," this time, you couldn't help but scoop Kijoong into your arms and blew a raspberry on his cheek, making him giggle from the ticklish feeling. There was a mix of feelings that surged through Hongjoong's body and he couldn't pinpoint on the cause as the giddiness was so palpable he could taste it at the tip of his tongue. The sheer feeling rendered him speechless and he could only find his voice when the elevator door opened and the three of you stepped out.
"So... You love me?"
In all fairness, Hongjoong meant that as a joke. Or so he said. He so totally doesn't lowkey hope that you'd say yes. But he was totally expecting you to roll your eyes and call him stupid.
The last thing he expected was for you to step closer to him, nudge his hip with yours and grin, "What do you think, Joong? What do your own feelings tell you?"
A sudden wave of excitement-induced nausea washed over Hongjoong, his body forcing his brain to prepare to have the talk. The one talk he knew he had to have with you considering the revelation he made (through Seonghwa pointing it out but he was not about to give his friend the credit).
You saw that his brain was trying to connect the dots and it was entertaining, to say the least. But at that moment, it dawned on you that you had just opened the door to a conversation you had only planned to have but even that plan was not solid. So to feign being coy, you took quick steps to get to Hongjoong's apartment first. "Hey!" Hongjoong exclaimed when he realized that you had taken off on him and he followed suit. While the distance from the elevator to this unit was not long, he caught up with you quick but it was because you had stopped in your tracks in the middle of the hallway, eyes trailed forward which caused him to look in the same direction.
It was like seeing a ghost. Well, a ghost from his past. Because out of all the moments in the timeline of his life, he would never have expected to see the person he was seeing. Not after what happened in the past.
"Minhee?" he called out.
Minhee, his ex, pushed her body off of the door and smiled gently, eyes looking over to Hongjoong before it settled on you and then on the boy who looked at her confusedly, not knowing who she was but he was intuitive enough to sense that there was something going on. You took notice of this when Kijoong suddenly turned around and clung on your body, refusing to look at his birth mother.
You, on the other hand, couldn't help but stare at her. She looked like the pictures you had caught glimpses of when you were cleaning but... Happier. She looked pretty and well-kept, exactly like how a young lady from a respected family should what with her all-white get-up and expensive bag. The nasty side of your brain immediately made comparisons and you came to the conclusion that you and her were vastly different and though momentarily, the thought of her being the kind of person that made Hongjoong commit flashed, leaving a nasty remnant that felt itchy.
"Well, aren't you going to let an old friend in?" she smiled.
Hell, even her voice sounded nice.
How were you going to fare?

i'd like the chart thanks!
Also, there's another person who wants to rp Leo, can they?
Okay a few people are asking for the chart so hereâs the current chart!! (I took out some characters that are still not as fleshed out. That includes Nathan, Ria, Nina, Ashley, Zoe, Ray, Maggie, and the hater and Metropolis characters, but theyâre all filler characters rn)
A Wild Battinson Character Lore Continuity
- Felicity
- Oldest of the bunch, right between Millennial and Gen Z
- Works at an office, besties with everyone there. Corporate girlie (does use the term girlboss)
- Like if a Gothamite/Bruce Wayne fan was swiftie-coded?
- She has a pet pitbull, you know that kind of white girl
- Tatum
- Goth U, Comp Sci major
- Keeps everyone he knows online at arms length so we donât know much, has a small close knit friend group irl but heâs also mutuals with everybody on twitter because heâs that kinda guy yk?
- But theyâre slowly convincing him. Heâs getting there
- Marzia
- Oh god poor Marzia
- Italian, born in Northern Italy, English is her second language but you wouldnât be able to tell if it werenât for her slight accent
- Biggest Bruce Wayne stan, will go feral, but only gets replies from him at the worst moments possible
- *snorts like cocaine* âPlease donât do cocaineâ is my personal favorite
- Goth U, she gives art major vibes but tacked on a double major in psychology last minute so now sheâs staying a fifth year
- Reads smut, writes smut, part of the poetry club, def on booktok, you know the type
- Alejandro
- Runs an ice cream stand in the park on the weekends when itâs warm enough
- Bi, Dating Leo (pfp is them holding hands because heâs a whipped son of a bitch)
- Heâs like if that normal-looking kind of athletic guy who always wore sweatshirts and basketball shorts to class just suddenly mentioned he had a boyfriend one day.
- Heâs straight-coded but more specifically âthe straight guy that gay guys have crushes on against their better judgementâ-coded
- Knew the whole time he was bi but never REALLY liked a guy until Leo đ„ș. whenever he looks at Leo, heâs got those madly in love eyes
- Thinks Batman is hot and suffers constant torment from Leo (who has a crush on Bruce) because of it
- Ale just wants to be bench pressed is that too much to ask? But Itâs his fault heâs a twunk dating a twink soâ
- Goth U, Really interested in tech stuff but heâs actually a sports medicine major. He wants to be a physical therapist for athletes
- Cannot hold his liquor
- Smile Watch
- Who knows
- Itâs a mystery
- Lela
- Goth Girl
- BFFâs with Nico (goth girl, e-boy solidarity)
- Also good friends with Natalie, they lined up all their gen Edâs together
- Chill in a Morticia Addams kinda way. She is Morticia Addams actually
- Mom owns a convenience store, she helps out after classes a lot
- Studied for the MCAT, did pretty well, she wants to be a doctor (probably neurosurgeon but it depends on what internship she gets)
- Currently completing the undergrad to grad program at Goth University with a masters in public health
- Natalie
- Former intern, now ASSISTANT at Wayne Press
- Got the job because she impressed Bruce with her good reporting skills, now works mostly on organizing press releases and maintaining Bruceâs public image
- Great at her job because she knows social media and Bruce Wayne Stans the best (she is one obv)
- (Babysits Bruce when Alfred is busy, how did this happen, why is this her job now? Sheâs tired of his shit lol)
- Still technically working part-time because she hasnât gotten her degree yet, but sheâs set to work full time after she graduates Goth U in May
- Sometimes while sitting at her desk she just gets that perspective shift where sheâs like âhow did I get hereâ Bruce Wayne Stansâ dreams do come true
- Caleb đ€Ą
- Literally 18/19 but aging faster than humanly possible with the stress heâs under
- Used to work at Bat Burger, left because the babysitting gig required more time
- Lives with his aunt whoâs already retired (used to live alone, she never had kids or a husband so sheâs loaded) Heâs staying cuz his parents are super busy and travel for work :) and guess what crime-filled alley their window overlooks? Iâll give you one guess
- Babysits Tim, used to be a less serious gig but his parents have been out of town a lot lately (just vacationing without their child đ) and thankfully Caleb lives right across from their swanky apartment so heâs practically a nanny now (read: older sibling/third parent)
- Took a ton of childcare courses for this job and now heâs kind of interested in working at a daycare maybe? If Tim doesnât kill him in his sleep first
- Recently graduated Goth High, now takes online classes at Goth Community College while deciding what to do with his life
- Jarod
- Recently graduated Goth High, now taking a gap year before starting GothU in the fall. Him and Caleb were always in the same classes so theyâre super close (theyâre the youngest)
- Future Comp Sci/English major (he wants to be a video game writer)
- Has a younger sister, and technically the oldest child but spiritually heâs the middle child.
- His parents and Priyankaâs parents are close friends so he kind of grew up seeing Priyanka as an older sister. Thatâs why theyâre Like That.
- Literally so fed up with Priyanka, itâs not even funny (yes it is) but the second youâre rude to Priyanka, he will deck you, watch yourself
- Katie (Sweater Thief)
- ER Nurse at Gotham General Hospital, mostly does night shifts
- Gives chronically online energy when sheâs online, but everyone in real life wouldnât suspect a thing because sheâs so good at having her life together (the code switch will give you whiplash)
- Surprisingly older than most of the others despite being Like That.
- Literally graduated with a 4.2 GPA how tf?
- BFFâs with Leo then became BFFâs with Ale too after they started dating (she is slowly corrupting Ale and I think thatâs beautiful)
- Creator of the Babygirl Bruce Wayne Agenda and PROUD
- Priyanka
- Works at coffee shop owned by her mom called Caffe Mood. She plans to run it one day. Currently a barista
- Goth U, business major (accounting)

- Jarod is constantly on her nerves, wtf Jarod (but be mean to him and sheâll kill you)
- Leo
- Works at bookstore called Gotham City Bookstore
- Gay, Dating Alejandro
- Twink (derogatory)
- Swears his gaydar is the most accurate there is (always wrong)
- Made being gay his entire personality because he had an identity crisis in middle school and proceeded to have a massive crush on some straight guy all of high school (that guy was Ale, Leoâs gaydar is so off)
- BFFâs with Katie despite being a few years younger. They were in a high school production of Sweeney Todd together and the rest was history
- Calls every single celebrity gay as a joke, Ale reigns him in if heâs getting too out of hand
- Used to have a mad celebrity crush on Bruce, still kinda (definitely) does
- Attends GothU, undecided for a while but ultimately settled on mathematics because itâs ironically his best subject
- One of those mfâs that needs to be held back at all costs, god help Ale
- Rose đč
- Works a tailoring job full time
- Good friends with Felicity, sheâs like the black cat to Felicityâs golden retriever
- 70% super nice and chill, 30% wild card party girl
- Gets drinks with friends a lot, tweets when drunk but no one can tell the difference. Itâs amazing
- Does not seem horny, is horny. But like normal about it? If thatâs a thing
- Nico
- Kinda plays the straight man of the group if the straight man was emo
- BFFâs with Lela (e-boy, goth girl solidarity)
- KING of twitter roasts. He makes memes to end lives.
- Pansexual, single, and probably writing bad poetry in his diary about it but donât tell anyone
- Goth U, actually dunno the major. Probs public health with Lela but doesnât want to be a doctor. More like research parallel to social sciences
- Has a 8/9yo sister named Madelaine whom he would die for despite not expecting to be an older brother so late in the game (what were his parents thinking)
- Has tea parties with her and all that jazz. She steals his eyeliner and chain accessories all the time, also sheâs friends with Dick and Barbie (yes, Barbara Gordon) so sometimes he watches over their play dates
- Heâs a âtough emo boyâ so he totally doesnât laugh at Madelaineâs puns. Heâs a bitch ass liar
- Kellyanne
- GothU, marine biology. Transferred from GCCC with an associates degree to save money but now sheâs got a full ride cuz of the WE higher education fund
- More recent Bruce Stan
- Pretty poor upbringing, thatâs how she met Bruce Wayne. He bought her whole family groceries one night after her card declined at the convenience store trying to buy dinner
- Now sheâs in it for the long haul :)
- Lia
- GothU, fashion merchandising
- A GIRLâS GIRL
- Older sister also attends Goth U, but sheâs in med school

- Graduated GothU last May and worked an internship at LexCorp, immediately regretted it but snagged a job at WE (thank god)
- Now works as a research assistant at Wayne Tech in the R&D department for commercial products
- Didnât really get the whole Bruce Wayne Stan thing until Bruce Wayne personally wished her a happy birthday?? The man is so sweet?

- Runs bring your kid to work day (idk what her actual job is but sheâs an Essential Worker, okay?)
- Very sweet, 10/10, looks on the bright side but never in a toxic positivity way

- Watched the Graysons die with Bruce, call that trauma bonding
- Watched her toxic exâs car burn to a crisp after a joker spree and took a selfie with it (she can have a little revenge, as a treat)

Schoolboy Crush
Summary: Kim really wants to confess, but he's to nervous to approach you. Hopefully, Ronnie [Ron] can play wingwoman and help out her best friend Pairings: Male! Kim Possible x Fem! Reader Tw: N/a Taglist: N/a [I kept Kim's name the same cause I like it better than Konner]
Kim watched you from where the cheer squad was. You were at the top of the bleachers doing what looked like homework. He would probably do the same if he wasn't forced to get ready for the game. Everyone knew these games lasted hours and some people wouldn't get home until late, making it hard to get any homework done.
He looked around for his friend, Ronnie. Kim's eyes were brought to a large plate of nachos and eye-straining blonde hair. Kim walked over, before calling the girl's name.
"Ronnie!"
Ronnie looks around, trying to see who was calling her before seeing her best friend Kim. She walks over and leans over the balustrade [looked that up] while trying not to spill her nachos. "Oh, hey Kim. What's up?"
"You see that girl over there?" Kim points where you are, writing in a notebook.
"Oh, Y/n? Yeah, I think we have history together."
"Great! Go talk to her."
"What?" Ronnie looked at Kim, confused. "Why?"
Kim clasps his hands together, "Please?"
Ronnie's eyes widen in realization, before pointing at Kim. "Oh my god, you have a crush on Y/n-"
Kim quickly jumps up, quickly putting his hands over Ronnie's mouth, "Not so loud! Do you want the whole school to hear you?"
"Sorry. Wow," Ronnie looks back over at you, "Who would have thought..." She looks back at Kim, "So what am I supposed to say?"
"I don't know. Anything! Talk about history- Just talk to her."
"Fine, but you owe me."
Ronnie walks over to you, eating some of her nachos to cool her nerves. She couldn't believe she was playing wingman for her best friend. God, she better not screw this up.
You feel a presence near you and looked up to see Ronnie, surprising you. You had never spoken to the girl before, so you wondered what she could possibly want.
"Um, hi?" She awkwardly waves and you look at her confused.
"Hi."
There was a few seconds of awkwardness, before Ronnie points to the seat next to you. "That seat taken?"
"Uh, no. Go ahead." You scoot over, making room for her.
"I'm Ro-"
"I know. We're in History together."
"Right. I didn't know if you knew," Ronnie lets out a forced chuckle, "my name. Uh, whatcha working on?"
"An essay that's due for English. I want to get it done before the weekend."
"Essay? We have an essay due?"
"Uh, no- I'm in AP."
"Oh!" Ronnie's eyes lit up. "Uh- I think Kim has that class, too."
"Yeah, we sit near each other."
"So, uh, what's your opinion on Kim?"
You look a little bewildered at her question. "He's uh... fine, I guess?"
"Fine, that's it?"
"I mean, he's not like other guys, I guess."
"Oh, yeah. For sure, for sure," Ronnie takes a big bite of her nachos, causing you to cringe internally. She chews a bit before turning towards the game, "He's one of a kind, right? I mean, he's cheer captain. Plus, his mom's a neurosurgeon and his dad is a rocket scientist."
"Yeah, I heard about that. Must be a lot of pressure to uphold."
"Yeah, but he manages. Plus, he's kind of cute too, right?"
"Uh, yeah I guess he is kind of cute- Wait, does Kim have a crush on me?"
Ronnie's face errupts in red, and nearly drops her nachos. She puts them down and quickly shakes her hands, "No! No, no, no! Haha! Where would you get an idea like that??"
"Well," You rub the back of your neck, "You know, if he does you should tell him that I think he's kind of cute."
"Well, uh I would- If he did like you, which he doesn't- Because I would never- haha, share my best friends secret like that. But if he did like you-" In the middle of his rant, someone interrupts, thankfully saving him.
"Ronnie, there you are! I've been looking everywhere for you." Kim looks over at you, fauxing surprise, " You're Y/n right. I don't think we've met, I'm Kim."
"Pleasure," You grab his hand, shaking it, causing him to smile.
It may not have been what Kim wanted, but it was something. He was so glad he heard Ronnie or his chances would have been ruined. He's just have to find a way to ask you out on his own.

eagletsposting!! eaglets!! posting!!!
( comms open )
these aren't chronological whatsoever which explains why baby #3 is smaller than baby #4 đ do see below the cut for more rambling shhfjs <3
Their first child is born Joanna, who is affectionately referred to as "Jo" instead. Very Little Women core. She's strong-willed and honest to a fault; she has no problem declaring herself leader of the sandbox! A little hellion honestly, but she's a sweet kid with a bright imagination when given a chance. Ol' Dadfred here just picked her up from ballet class and I guess she has beef with one of her classmates because she just gave them her official seal of disapproval. Oh well, at least it wasn't the finger. She grows up to be the vocalist of a band with a few highschool friends, but eventually, she returns to her childhood dream of becoming an oceanographer.
Joanna has a twin, apart by three minutesâ and his name is Theodore, nicknamed Teddy. Curious and mischievous in near-equal measures, he's actually a little more reserved compared to his outgoing sister, but he can be very talkative when someone singles him out specifically. His penchant for mischief gets on Jo's nerves a lot, so the twins are almost always bickering. He's autistic, so that's why he's got his noise-cancelling headphones on. The idea is that he's at his first local baseball game! I don't know if I want him to play baseball yet, but he probably will. I think Teddy is very similar to Alfred in that they both amassed a large amount of hobbies and interests throughout the years.
Their third is born David, nicknamed Davie. Polite, caring and thoughtful, he's rather reserved and is easily the first one brought to tears by a sad movie. He's a sweet kid, evident by his attempts to motivate mom there despite his inability to speak just yet! It's the thought that counts! He's Alfred and Suzie's sweetness wrapped up in one chubby baby. But despite his general soft-heartedness, he grows up pursuing law! He'd always had a knack for reading huge amounts of text and he had the thought of becoming a politician later on. He's also two years younger than the twins!
And finally, their youngest is named Hazel! Cheerful, outgoing and just a little dramatic, all of Alfred and Suzie's children may have an overall sunny disposition but they all pale in comparison to her. Being born about four years after Davie, she's a little clingy with her parents as a result. Her hobbies are reading with mom, watching movies with dad, going to the store with mom, cooking with dad... But game nights are always fun with her around! With this AU's timeline, Hazel is only around 16 years old in 2024 and is currently undecided between becoming a nurse (because mom is a neurosurgeon) and becoming a pilot (because dad is an aerospace engineer). She will probably go into education though.

modern arcana headcanon that lives in my heart. julian as a famous actor and the star of a popular hospital drama. his character on the show is sort of a house md exhausted genius type, but with rakish grey's anatomy sex appeal, you know, one of those characters thirsted over by moms in their 40s/50s.
"so, julian, do a lot of people think you're that smart in real life?"
he raises an eyebrow, grinning at the interviewer. "excuse me?"
"oh, not that you're not smart! just that, you know, on the show you're like the genius doctor guy. do you ever meet fans who, like, think you're a real doctor?"
the smile broadens across his face, and beside him, you see his sister and costar roll her eyes. he loves getting asked that.
"i'm a board-certified epidemiologist and neurosurgeon, so i certainly hope they do!"

Hi, i was wondering if you would write one about Amelia Shepherd as your foster mom or motherly sister - you have anorexia and she is admitting you to the psych ward against your will. meredith is there to support her and you.
Authors note: I'm sorry there wasn't a new story yesterday, but I had another recurring episode of a migraine and it really weighed me down.
á---á
In the dark corridor of the psychiatric hospital, the footsteps of the neurosurgeon and the general surgeon echoed as the two hesitantly walked towards the closed door of your temporary stay, Meredith's arm reassuringly placed on the brunette's shoulder. The dim beam of light from the bulb above the door was the only glow at the end of the dark hallway, reflected off the peeling walls. Amelia's heart was pounding in her chest as she gripped the cold metal handle of the door that separated you from her.
She slowly opened the door and entered the room, which was filled with a diffuse light from the bedside lamp. "Hey, sweetheart. I have brought you a visitor," she spoke to you calmly, scrunching her nose as the smell of disinfectant and suppressed suffering crawled into her sinuses. In the corner of the room you sat, curled up on your bed with your legs pulled up to your chest. "Go away, I do not want to see you," you spoke, your gaze was empty, your eyes seemed tired and expressionless as a faint shadow of past joy of life crossed your face.
Amelia hesitated for a moment before approaching the bed. Her hand shook as she gently took your hand. She felt the cold of your skin and the pressure of your fingers weakly recoil and move away from her, sliding further into the corner. Tears welled up in her eyes as she carefully backed away even though she just wanted to hold on to your hand and cling to it so as not to fall into the abyss herself. "Please, y/n.. I love you and missed you," she began to speak quietly, Amelia's words full of pain and desperation. "and you know that bringing you here was the only right decision,"
You were trapped in your world, your sisterÂŽs words seeming opaque and incomprehensible as she spoke of the constant fear that tormented her when you stopped eating in your dark hours and were no longer the person she once knew. "You dragged me here and left me with strangers who were supposed to help me. When all I really needed was MY SISTER!" Another grab for your knee vanished into thin air as you evaded away from her touch and her hand instead reached back towards Meredith, who had not said a word yet but was holding a bag that the brunette had brought for you.
With tears in her eyes and shaking hands, she pulled out some personal items and began decorating your new room for the next few months to calm herself down. Amelia had no idea what to say, she felt incredibly guilty. She carefully placed these items on the nightstand next to the bed, as if she wanted to leave a piece of her lost sister behind. Photos of happy times, some books you recently bought and a diary where you once wrote down your dreams and hopes. "Amelia, is it okay if you leave us alone for a moment?" Meredith's bright voice broke through the cramped silence that was almost unbearable and the brunette nodded groggily but thankfully before slowly turning away, her eyes full of pain and helplessness.
With one last, loving look at you, she left the room and closed the door behind her. The click of the door lock echoed through the empty hallway, and behind it she burst into tears as she leaned against the cold wall and slid painfully down. In that moment she knew she had made the right decision, even though it broke her heart that you turned her away. Amelia had placed you in the care of professionals in the hope that you would find help there, but the pain and sadness of seeing you in this fragile and self-destructive state would stay with her forever.
But she also knew that you would both get through this and that you would eventually thank her for saving your life. And as she pulled herself together and walked down the hallway of the hospital into the parking lot, she could not stop wondering what was currently going on in that room with Meredith and you. Meanwhile, Meredith retreated to your room with you, the atmosphere charged and tense as you nervously folded your hands over your thighs. She sat down next to you and gently placed a hand on your shoulder. "I know this is all very new and very difficult for you. You are probably feeling very hurt, angry and alone, but I want you to understand that your sister never intended to harm you," she began to speak slowly, her hand moving to your face to brush a stray strand of hair from your pale face and tuck it behind your ear. "She loves you more than words can express and she did everything she could to help you."
You hesitantly let her touch you, hurt that she also agreed to your AmeliaÂŽs decision and helped her register and accommodate you here. "But then why did she put me in this psychiatric hospital? Why she did not try to help me if she loves me so much?"
"Sometimes, my love, life is not as easy as we wish it to be. Amelia was desperate. She saw how much you suffered, how much you had changed and how you were destroying yourself in front of her eyes. She just knew no more how she could help you. Your sister tried everything, but it felt like nothing was helping and she did not want you to continue to be trapped in this darkness. That seemed to her the only way out to make sure that you Get the support and care you need."
After her speech, you burst into utter tears. Meredith took off her shoes and crawled on all fours to you. She quickly pulled you closer to her, pushing your head into her lap where you clung to her thighs. "But I feel so alone here. I am scared and I miss Amelia and you so much." She stroked your hair comfortingly, gently wiping your cheeks with her thumb every now and then to catch your tears. Her other hand searched for yours, fingers intertwining with yours. "Remember that you are not alone here. The people here will help you and I will always be there for you. I am just a call or a text away and if you want, I can come here with your sister every day after work and spend time with you so that you do not feel alone for at least a few hours.â
"I do not want to blame her but it hurts so much to be here," you admitted quietly, turning your head so that you could look into her eyes from below. A small smile crept onto her lips and she nudged your nose before starting to speak again. "It is okay to have these feelings, to be angry and sad.
