Fitting the Mechanicals on the PB22
It’s a good idea to make sure things fit where you think they will. Here you can see exhaust hoses, a pvc pipe chase, the jet thruster hose, a battery box, raw water strainer. Here’s a look at some of the sole pieces I talked about patterning in and earlier post. I’m trying to get ready to coat the inside of the boat before I begin construction of the deck. It’ll be much easier this way with an…

howdy everyone!!
i am excited to announce my first official series! i know i’ve teased a series before and i didn’t follow through with it, but i’m very excited for this. it’s definitely different than anything i’ve done before so i hope that people are pumped for it and enjoy it. this isn’t just my own idea but it is inspired by a story that me and a close friend came up with a couple years ago. this does not follow the exact events, but it is definitely inspired by it (you know who you are bestie). i’m not sure how many parts this story will have, but i am hoping at least 4! i’m hoping that once i get in the swing of writing for an actual series it will inspire me to go back to the previous series i wanted to start. as you can probably see, i really enjoy writing AU stories that take a completely different turn than canon events, whether that is plot or character driven. with that being said, i hope you enjoy this new story and i would love to hear how you feel about it!! until next time🤠🏜🐴

Where's Everett? (1966) Or: Alan Alda raises an invisible alien baby
Part of a series of writeups of unaired or otherwise inaccessible TV objects ft. Alan Alda, which I was able to access via the Paley Center for Media in NYC (November 2024).
Where’s Everett? (1966) - Producer, Creator, Writer: Ed Simmons; Associate Producer: Jon Zimmer; Director: Gene Nelson.
Cast: Arnold Barker - Alan Alda; Sylvia Barker - Patricia Smith; Dr. Paul Jellicoe - Nicolas Coster, Lizzie Barker - Doreen Miller; Murdock - Frank DeVol; Milkman - Robert Cleaves.
Summary: When a basket containing an invisible baby appears on the doorstep of Arnold (Alan Alda) and Sylvia Barker (Patricia Smith), the couple clashes over what to do. Arnold, a professional science fiction author, thinks they ought to turn the baby over to be studied. Sylvia thinks they ought to raise it as their own. The couple call in family friend and pediatrician Dr. Paul Jellicoe (Nicolas Coster) for help, all while trying to balance keeping invisible baby Everett a secret from their daughter, Lizzie (Doreen Miller), nosy neighbors (Milkman - Robert Cleaves) and investigating reporters (Murdock - Frank DeVol).
Plot recounting: The show begins in an unassuming suburban American neighborhood, white-picket-fence’d, green lawn’d, and quiet. A tracking shot follows an empty, floating wicker basket down the street, through a white picket fence, and up to the door of a house. The basket floats down to sit on the doorstep. The doorbell is rung by an unseen entity, whose footsteps are audible as it hurries away. The camera follows the invisible entity back down the street, panning to reveal a large spaceship parked on one of the suburban lawns. The spaceship opens, a staircase descends, footsteps are heard ascending it, and the staircase retracts. The spaceship flies away. Meanwhile, the doorbell is answered by Arnold Barker (Alan Alda), still in his dressing gown. He regards the empty basket with confusion as a baby—not visible—begins to cry. The intro plays: A cheerful, upbeat tune over yellow title cards listing cast and credits.
Arnold and his wife Sylvia (Patricia Smith) investigate, attempting to locate the crying baby. They decide the sound must be coming from inside the apparently empty basket. Though Arnold is doubtful, he puts a hand inside the basket, and quickly withdraws it: He was bitten by something invisible, which left visible teeth-marks (“Arnold, there’s a baby in that basket!” “But a baby what?”). The couple try to decide what to do with the invisible baby. Arnold suggests they report it (“Why don’t we call the police and have them give the baby back to Claude Rains?”), but they eventually settle on calling their friend, pediatrician Dr. Paul Jellicoe (Nicolas Coster) for advice.
Arnold explains the situation to Paul, who refuses to believe him, due to the fact that Arnold is a professional science fiction novelist. Eventually Paul agrees to come over for Arnold’s sake, convinced that Arnold is sick, drunk, or otherwise hallucinating. Meanwhile Sylvia feeds the baby, whom she has named Everett, oatmeal, which disappears off the spoon. Arnold complains about the ridiculousness of the situation, and Everett responds by flinging oatmeal into his face.
When Paul arrives, Arnold shows him to Everett’s wicker basket—but they realize that Everett has crawled away, prompting a carefully thorough and shoeless (“You might step on him!”) search of the floor and furniture, until Paul notices a floating piece of candy and realizes Everett the invisible baby is real after all. Paul gives the baby an exam and notes that the child is healthy and normal, except for an unusually high body temperature and, of course, the invisibility (“Just think, Arnold, you’re going to save a fortune on clothes.”). He recommends the Barkers not mention the baby to their young daughter Lizzie, worrying it might have an adverse emotional impact.
Lizzie descends the stairs and states that she dreamed she heard a baby crying. The Barkers and Paul play a game of hot potato with invisible baby Everett, trying to keep him away from Lizzie without arousing her suspicion or looking too obviously as though they are holding something invisible and baby-sized. The tradeoff only works until Everett is placed back into his basket and begins to cry. To the surprise of the Barkers and Paul, Lizzie takes the revelation with equanimity: “Invisible baby,” she says, pleased, before rocking Everett in her arms and asking if the family can keep him.
Sylvia hears the milkman outside, and asks Arnold to buy some extra milk for the baby. Arnold, still believing they ought to turn the baby over to somebody in authority, reluctantly agrees, and hears from the milkman that a rumor is going around the street: A flying saucer was spotted on a neighboring lawn early in the morning.
Arnold is surprised and then delighted by the news, and suggests that it could be a boon for his career. He proposes handing the baby over to science in a public fashion, imagining the headline attention it might receive, and the increase of attention towards his books. Sylvia, however, wants to keep Everett, distressed by the idea of the baby being “poked at” and studied; she states that whoever dropped the baby off must have wanted them to care for him.
The doorbell rings (Arnold: “If nobody’s there, maybe it’s the parent.”), and reporter Murdock (Frank DeVol) asks if the Barkers have any information about the flying saucer rumor. Arnold attempts to tell the reporter about Everett, but Sylvia and Lizzie undermine him by implying he is relaying a story he’s working on, mentioning his career as a science-fiction writer, and hiding the baby, so when Arnold directs the reporter to pick Everett up, he finds nothing in the basket. Arnold immediately panics, believing Everett has crawled away again (“Where’s Everett?!”), and begins to search the floor on hands and knees. The reporter leaves, convinced Arnold is insane.
Sylvia and Lizzie assure Arnold that the baby isn’t lost again—they only relocated Everett to an armchair. Arnold picks Everett up for safekeeping and tries to convince his family one last time that they can’t possibly raise an invisible baby. He slowly begins to doubt himself as he speaks, noting that they have always wanted a son, before Everett manages his first word: “Dada.” Arnold leaps over a couch and begins to hop around, delighted, holding Everett to his chest (“He knows me!”), accepting his role as Everett’s new father.
(Semi-Alda-specific) review: So awesome. Went into this one knowing the premise “Suburban couple find and raise invisible alien baby” and was prepared for it to be pretty hard to take, but was pleasantly surprised by its consistent humor and how well it committed to a pretty ridiculous conceit. Ed Simmons wrote for Martin and Lewis, which feels just about right, given the zaniness of the script and the prevalence of tossed-off one-liners. Unclear on how this would have worked for longer than one episode, but I’m sad we never got to see it attempted. Alda and Smith are particularly excellent at what seems, while watching, like a long-form improv warmup game: They commit and commit well to ‘holding’ baby Everett, transferring him between each other, rocking, soothing, lifting, and otherwise gently handling baby-shaped empty air, which if you stop buying the existence of the baby becomes insanely funny insanely fast, but in the watching process is pretty sweet. Really excellent for Alda specifically because he does befuddled but well-meaning and generally reasonable suburban dad so well as a role type; plus he’s wearing a wonderfully 60s velour tracksuit top, which is so visually fun it’s almost a character in itself. Verdict: Don’t miss this one if you visit the archive. Such a treat.

Sadie Nelson's summer is off to an awful start.
Her first year in high school has been a disaster, with failed classes and more detentions than she'd care to admit. With summer school the only thing to look forward to, she doesn't think it can get worse - until her parents sit down and tell her they're getting a divorce. The news comes as a devastating kind of relief. She can't wait for the fighting to come to an end, even if it means split holidays.
So when her parents send her off to her aunt's house in Newfoundland for the rest of the summer, she figures things can't get much worse. Her Aunt Claire is content to leave her alone while she works on her art, and Sadie spends most of her days by the seaside, wandering or drawing boats, and lost in thought.
When she finds a strange girl on an abandoned cove, far from town, Sadie is quick to try and make her first friend in St. Brenden's Bay. But her new friend is stranger than she realizes - and what does her Aunt have to do with her appearance?
empyrean eclipse;
Dr. Hazel Hartley-Pryce is what most people refer to as a genius. The leading cybioengineer in the paradisaical city of New Eden, she’s revolutionizing the very concept of prosthetics. At least, that’s her day job. Most of the time, she’s just Zelle Pryce, awkward and unknown heir of an oil empire trying to make up for her family’s myriad sins.
Lark Donaghue lost their arm and their memory in an accident five years ago — or, at least, they think it was an accident. Ever since, they’ve been doing their best to recover in both mind and body. As one of the recipients of the Hartley-Zimmer prosthesis, they spend most of their time in the labs having their new arm calibrated, or in physical therapy, getting used to having a left arm for the first time.
When they bump into each other in the hospital café, Zelle has no idea that Lark is one of her test subjects. Likewise, Lark doesn’t associate the cute young doctor he meets with Dr. H. Hartley, the mysterious billionaire scientist who invented their prosthesis. Each are determined to keep their past a secret, eager to have something normal in their lives.
But when Zelle is attacked, everything changes. The mystery behind Lark’s amnesia might finally be solved — but at what cost?
wrong witch;
born into a family of witches, morgan has never shown a drop of magical power - no matter how much his mothers insist he has the inherent potential. he’s ready to give up on magic altogether, when, on his seventeenth birthday, he wakes up covered in blood, having sleepwalked into the nearby woods. suddenly, he has more power than he knows what to do with, and all of his dreams are coming true - but at what cost?
and why?
gabriel graves is a warlock, having traded his eternal soul for magic. when his family moves from bustling new york city to a small town in the midwest, he’s taken from his circle of power — his true family — and left alone. the citizens of ashborough, mi, are perfectly normal, and perfectly boring.
except, of course, for the mysterious delacroix family.
morgan and gabriel’s lives collide in the ashborough woods, as morgan seeks to discover the source of his newfound powers, and gabriel searches for a place to call his own.

attempting to create a playlist for me to listen to while planning out/writing this postapocalyptic story of mine is a bitch and a half
bc describing the Vibes is so hard it makes it hard to find suggestions
so uh
if anyone knows any songs similar to the following songs, vibes and whatnot, pls lemme know.
story is. essentially. post-global-nuclear-war, hundreds of years later. humanity survived via fallout shelters/bunkers underground, and when it was deemed safe most (but not all) returned to the surface to start again. naturally, during this time, history is lost, especially of what *exactly* fcked up their planet. so. geological/ecological post-apocalypse with remnants long-gone nuclear war, "we fcked up our world and mother nature took it over and then welcomed us back eventually" vibes.
help-
songs on playlist:
"Vagabond (Stripped)" by Missio
"Cornfield Chase" by Hans Zimmer (it was my original theme for it dfdfgkj)

EPIC WAR DUNE: PART TWO
In 2024, Dune: Part Two, a science fiction epic, directed by Denis Villeneuve and co-written with Jon Spaihts, is the sequel to Dune (2021).
This adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel continues the story of Paul Atreides battling House Harkonnen on the desert planet Arrakis, aided by the Fremen. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and numerous actors who appeared in the first film are part of the cast.
In 2016, Legendary Entertainment acquired film and television rights for the Dune franchise, after obtaining the rights the film finally started to develop.
Villeneuve signed on as director in 2017, to make a two-part adaptation of the novel due to its complexity. After the first movie’s huge critical and financial success, Legendary gave Dune: Part Two the go-ahead in October 2021.
Previously, it was going to be released in November 2023 due to the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes, the film premiered at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, on February 6, 2024, and was made available for purchase on March 1 in the US.
It earned captious praise, is considered one of the greatest science fiction, and has grossed over $711 million worldwide. By surpassing its predecessor the film has become the second-highest-grossing film of 2024 and also the highest-grossing film in Villeneuve’s career.
PRODUCTION
The production of Dune: Part Two was handled by many producers:- Villeneuve, Mary Parent, and Cale Boyter, with Tanya Lapointe, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Jon Spaihts, Richard P. Rubinstein, John Harrison, and Herbert W. Gain signed on as executive producers and Kevin J. Anderson as creative consultant.
There was a plan to make a sequel made by Legendary CEO Joshua Grode.
Dune: Part Two, was officially approved by Legendary on October 26, 2021. Villeneuve and his wife Lapointe began pre-production work.
The key point of the discussion which happened before the agreement of the sequel was to ensure the sequel would have an unshared or exclusive window where it would only be shown theatrically. Legendary and Warner Bros. agreed to give a 45-day window before it would be shown through other channels.
WRITING
The creator of Game of Thrones, David Peterson, started working with the team in April 2019 to design the languages for the movie.
The plot for this movie was written as soon as Dune was released and Dune: Part Two was confirmed. This allowed for an early start to production after the picture was given the go-ahead.
Villeneuve called the movie the “second part” and declared that it would pick up right where the first left off. The first movie was more “contemplative,” he said, while the second will have more action. He portrayed this film as “an epic war film”.
CASTING
The film Dune: Part Two cast Pugh and Butler as stars in the film. Without holding an audition, Butler received the part offer and spent four months of training in Budapest. From May to July Christopher Walken, Lea Seydoux, and Souheila Yaccoub joined the cast as Shaddam IV, Lady Maegot Fenring, and Shishakli.
Tim Blake Nelson was brought on board in January 2023 in an unspecified capacity. Anya Taylor-Joy revealed that she had been cast in the movie when she went to the London premiere in February 2024.
Villeneuve commented that it took “so much work to keep that secret” and expressed amazement that her role had been kept under wraps for so long. Her part had been disclosed in a Letterbox casting credit list for the movie.
MUSIC
Hans Zimmer wrote the score for the first movie and came back to do it for this one. Zimmer had written more than ninety minutes of music before the movie’s announcement to support Villeneuve with his narrative.
WaterTower Music released the two singles “Harvester Attack” and “A Time of Quiet Between the Storms” on February 15, 2024. On February 23, the entire soundtrack CD became available.
RELEASE
Dune: Part Two was cleared to be released on October 20, 2023. But it was later postponed by over four months to March 15, 2024, due to the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes.
Dune: Part Two was released in the IMAX 15-perforation 70 mm format to twelve sites globally, and in the conventional 5-perforation 70 mm format to 38 venues worldwide, following the success of Oppenheimer (2023) in the medium.
On February 6, 2024, the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City hosted the international premiere of Dune: Part Two. On February 15, an additional premiere took place at London’s Odeon Luxe Leicester Square.
The movie was screened for a dying man on January 16, 2024, in a palliative care facility in Saguenay, Quebec, the home province of Denis Villeneuve.

Flipping the Boat
The boat is at rest in a sideways position. Notice the cradles under it ready to receive it. I’ve done all I can to the hull from the outside. So it’s time to flip the boat upright so I can start working from the inside. To prepare for this, I’ve made 3 cradles to hold the boat in position once its upright. I used the patterns for some of the frames with one placed directly under where the…

Taboo Science Podcast: Where No Science Has Gone Before
Have you ever noticed that when TV goes large, podcasting goes small? TV wants to do a nature show? It's a wide-angle view of all animals, usually narrated by David Attenborough. Need a space show? How about something with Neil DeGrasse Tyson about the entire cosmos?
By contrast, podcasting goes small. It burrows into a topic small in stature but not insignificant. Podcasting has shows about specific dolphin species, an entire podcast about the planet Jupiter, and, instead of a sports show about all sports, how about a podcast about one owner of one basketball team -- James Dolan of the NBA's New York Knicks? Check out Reign Of Error.
Here is the marketing pitch from Taboo Science: "Taboo Science is a podcast that answers the questions you’re not allowed to ask. It’s hosted by Ashley Hamer, a science writer and podcaster. Every episode dives into a different societal taboo to understand the science that makes it tick, the reasons we don’t talk about it, and the impact that has on society at large. Why don’t we eat people? Why are my swear words different than my parents’? And what makes porn, porn? It’s science class if science class had one of those anonymous question boxes. It’s Taboo Science."
Ashley Hamer is a writer, podcaster, and science communicator in Chicago. She is the creator of Taboo Science and the former host and content lead of the science podcast Curiosity Daily.
When Hamer and Corey Gough co-host Curiosity Daily in the pre-COVID days, I thought they had solid hosting chemistry and brought a certain spontaneous wit to the show. The show has gone through several iterations of hosts, in search, I believe, of that special Hamer-Gough sauce.
Hamer flying solo on Taboo Science is in complete control of the hosting cockpit. She's funny, smart, and a strong interviewer with a flair for the dramatic.
Hamer has interviewed the likes of Sean Carroll, Carl Zimmer, and Alan Alda, written and hosted a number of widely viewed science videos, appeared on several leading science podcasts, and spoken on stages everywhere from C2E2 and New York Comic Con to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and meetings of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in Washington, D.C. and Seattle, Washington.
Ashley Hamer is also a professional saxophonist, a Boston-qualified marathon runner, a new mom, and a cat person. Talk about your diversity of skills. I have questions. Can she play the saxophone while running a marathon? Is the cat jealous of the new baby? How does she have time to do a podcast?
The podcast began in September 2020, and it didn't pull any punches in its first several episodes. Topics included pornography, profanity, cannibalism, penises, and vaginas. I can just sense the uptight people who are organizing bans.
Some of my favorite episodes include the March 25, 2021, one on Marriage with Stephanie Coontz. For those who crow about traditional marriage, you should listen to Coontz talk about the history of marriage as a business transaction instead of a bond created from love.
A recent episode about Asexuality was a learning experience and fascinating and, of course, I can never pass up an episode on poop with Bryon Nelson. Here, Hamer breaks out internet-sourced euphemisms for poop while Nelson explains how for centuries people used "night soil" (poop) for fertilizer.
If you, as a listener, are into your science being serious stuff with people with PhDs speaking in solemn tones, Taboo Science is not for you.
But if enjoy a beaker full of fun with your science lesson, and don't mind your poop being referred to you as "butt nuggets," then Taboo Science is for you.

Movie Reviews Series #2
The second movie that I reviewed was Kung Fu Panda 2. You might ask, "why number 2?" and to that I say, "I actually like Kung Fu Panda 2 better than the first." I know that saying a sequel is better is rare, and a lot of people think that's not possible, but KFP2 knocked it out of the park. For one thing, KFP1 didn't give the antagonist much of a reason to fight the protagonist. Rather the antagonist was angry at the protagonist's master. However, in KFP2 the antagonist Shen has caused the protagonist Po direct emotional damage. That was a huge leap in making the movie feel more significant for Po.
The movie was released in 2011 and directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson. The plot is somewhat simple in that Shen wants to rule China and he created the first-ever cannon that is referred to as "the weapon". A fortune teller says that he will be defeated by a warrior of black and white, so he destroys all of the villages of pandas. Po, however, makes an escape as his mom put him in a cart and then distracted Shen's army to lead them away. Po and his friends go to Gongmen city, where they try again and again to defeat the weapon. They fail each time as Po gets flashbacks of Shen's attack on his village and freezes. Po eventually learns about "Inner peace" and unlocks the secret to defeating the weapon.
The soundtrack was composed by Hans Zimmer and John Powell. These two did a fantastic job, and I enjoyed each song on the soundtrack. With this soundtrack, I noticed a lot of sudden mood changes like in the song, "Po finds inner peace" where Po is struggling internally as he remembers the joy of his old life with his parents mixed with his trauma during the attack on his village. The music had a tendency to be soothing and soft using strings and woodwind instruments, and then suddenly drums and brass instruments fall on you like a lightning bolt. On the first viewing, it is completely unexpected and a beautiful choice.
Overall, I would rate the movie an 8.5 out of 10 for great action, while still being fun. My rating for the soundtrack is a 10 out of 10 for the soundtrack fitting like a glove. My favorite piece is "Zen ball master" as it is a 7-minute, 21-second rollercoaster of emotion and fun.
