Pass, for obvious reasons. I do like her hair and eye colours though. Avirama Redder Pass. He's not unattractive per se but he's not really my thing. Also characters who try to look intimidating and then get utterly bodied tend to be a bit of a turn off for me. Findor Carias Exacta! He's a smash. His personality is kind of annoying but he does have a nice face. Ggio Vega Smash! He's got such a nice design, it's a shame it's wasted on a fraccion. I would've way preferred he got resurrected as a zombie over Luppi.

Pass. She has the most obnoxious personality of the three of them and the weakest design imo, I hate something of a vendetta against bobs.

Smash! She may look like a palette swap of Rangiku but that doesn't change that she looks like Rangiku.

Sun-Sung SMASH! She's soooo fucking pretty. I know Rangiku, Yoruichi, Halibel, Neliel (ugh), Orihime and Unohana are considered like THE beauties of Bleach, but something about Sun-Sung is so gorgeous. Her eye shape and colour and the contrast with her hair is so pleasing. Also she's less annoying than the other two.

Tesra Lindocruz Pass. He's not ugly but his slavish devotion to Nnoitra speaks volumes. Grimmjow's Fraccion All of them are a pass. The only remotely handsome one is Ylforte Granz and he got his ass kicked by a little girl.

Szayel Aporro's Fraccion

Same as Grimmjow except even moreso, especially since two of them look the same blob things.

She's fine. When you first mention her at first I was like, who? Then I have to look her up then I was like oooooohhh her. Honestly I don't really care about her. She's pretty, funny and it's nice seeing characters that wear glasses in anime since I wear them as well but she isn't my type of women. Rangiku, Yoruichi, and Neliel are more of my types. What can I say I like women that can crush my skull with their thighs.

I remember when I first seen her on bleach her whole personality gave me whiplash. Mainly because of her flamboyant love for orihime(especially when she hugged orihime) But this was before I realized I was attracted to women as well and I thought it was kind of odd. I could never be that flamboyant or flirty as her especially to my crush. I'm actually quite shy So I applaud her for her confidence.

But yeah, basically I don't hate her or anything, she's cool.

Shocked Loly got voted down so hard, obviously she's got issues, and she's not even particularly one of my personal favorites or anything, but like clearly that's part of the appeal. Also suprised at Ginjo's performance on these, especially given that his bankai form got its own. I get not liking the mullet, that's fair, but I feel like the bankai rectifies that, not to mention the overall villain form. No Love for Love, really? Also absolutely shocked Luppi scored so low. An egregious disrespect to those hip windows. I'll admit the bangs aren't great but the cute little curls are to die for.

I just cant with people and their love of utterly featureless dead moms/wives. And i love Momo to death but she's just not a smash. girl needs therapy and like a vacation from work, but the girl does not need to be sexualized. Most of the rest of these seem pretty obvious though, both for me and the general concensus. Yeah yeah Mayuri fans are in the minority. Boo... Actually, you know what, in regards to miss Misato, the lack of respect for a modestly attractive teacher over a bunch of tragedy fodder madonna martyrs is shameful

Once again I just cannot jive with the fanbase's absolute garbo taste in wwomen with either zero personality zero autonomy. Nanao I'd have considered back during SS when she was still more of a corporate icequeen, even if the begrudging mommy/put upon secretary role would still have been a huge turn off. But the whole thing in the TYBW arc just ruins her character for me. I feel like I've complained about Nel enough on this blog that I don't need to go over this again: I would unironically rank screeching baby Nel over Neliel, even if they're still both a pass. Nemu I feel bad about, I don't dislike her general character, but again zero autonomy is not a turn on: Hard Pass. Ya'll are cowards not fucking with The Wind. I like his perma bed-head and his two tongues, and yeah even his goofy ass casual ahegao. I want to pull him by the hair. We all knew how the Nnoitra thing was gonna go; obviously not a popular pick but the girlies who got it bad got it bad bad. Nobutsuna is some kinda Thief and the Cobbler/Jafar Aladin/Rurouni Kenshin Udo Jinne ass ting going on and I'm not gonig to lie, I'm into it. The man looks like a whithered corpse but in a good way(?) It's not a super committed smash, but it's there. Honestly, Numb Chandellier I had to think about a little, but she's just the wrong kind of tentacle and the wrong kind of mind control. The heart eyes are cute tho (Category N also marks the first time I've managed a 0% Smash Approval Rating comparing my picks against the general consensus.)

This was a nice short batch with a pretty big split on almost every one. I'll admit, I had to stop and think about Nimaiya a little. When he ties his hair up in a samurai topknot and gets serious about blacksmithing I almost would, but his loud goofball pervert shtick is just not for me. Given the spit I think these are all safely decided, even though the last ones have a few days left. Nimaiya could still flip on me in the next like 24 hours tho...

looks like the R polls are prettymuch wrapped. I feel like i'd get flak for it but look, Unohana's cool and all but not like sexualized cool. And I'm just not into the fetishized servile and demure matronly thing. I feel bad Riku scored so low, he doesn't particularly feel like he deserves it, just not my type. Boy the bleach fans really hate the moustache huh? like it's not an overly enthusstic smash but I wouldn't not. Shocked at the cowards not wanting to fuck Rudbornn; he's a cool guy who you don't have to look at his face, what more do you want? All the benefits of just putting a brown paper bag on their head but what if the bag looked cool. The rest of these were just obvious picks

I'm cutting the Ss in half just because it's a lot. These seemed like pretty clear cut picks all around. Shukuro Tsukishima was a tough decisions because he's basically just me without my glasses and a different location for the forehead scar, and I just don't love myself enough to think of him as hot. But he does have his weird moment toward the end where he has a little too much fun messing with people's memories and I'm about that energy. Shawlong is verymuch contingent on his cool monster scissorhands form.

Been meaning to go back and take stock of my "score" on the ongoing @bleach-smashorpass, I've grayed out anything where my personal pick didn't match the popular outcome, and left the ones where I fall into the majority vote in color.

Look, I'll be real, I'm not above monsterfuckery, even if I don't consider it ""my thing"" but I'd have voted smash on Ayon if he didn't have his weird secret muppet face. Also Aaroniero was an extremely light smash, i really had to flip flop on that one a few times before making a choice. I'll be honest, I liked original Chapter25 epilogue Aisslinger way more than what we got in the Arrancar Arc, and if I could split the vote I'd smash original and pass on final design for him.

Bambi is just such a boring design, and honestly Batsuunsai isn't much better, but the glasses are cute. She was really close to being a pass.

I was actually surprised that I had to stop and think about Choe but his giant chin and tiny bowl cut were not doing him any favors. Also as much as I like Cyan as a character, there is just something about hime cuts that are an automatic off switch for me. the rest of these felt fairly obvious.

I'm not really a fan of pigtails, with very few exceptions, but when I went to check the poll results it said I voted smash. Maybe I was thinking she was feeling Hiyori adjacent enough to count it at the time? I.... I don't remember voting smash on Entetsu...

i feel very scandalized by having voted unpopularly on all these old men... I'll be honest, Gremmy is a very lukewarm smash, and the potential of the Visionary power as a sex thing was very much the deciding factor.

boy bleach fans really don't like moustaches, huh? So funny enough it wasn't until the anime that I realized Hidetomo has his multiple earrings and somehow that changed his whole vibe for me, but prior to that it would have been an easy pass. I absolutely cannot abide characters whose whole thing is being someones dead wife/girlfriend, even if she otherwise looks exactly like Rukia, who'll be a smash for sure once we get to the Rs.

okay so hear me out... Jugram is too blond. I know that sounds like nonsense, but like, he's too fundementally blond. Like most of Bleach's blond characters could have other generally light hair colors, and it wouldn't super change their image or aesthetic, but Jugram has to be blonde because the alternatives don'teel the same, and that's too much blond for me.

i know i voted pass on ichigo, which might make smash on kaien seem weird, but it's between the personality difference and the eyelashes. People not smashing on Kiyone is a catastrophe

Yoruichi’s Will is Kūkaku

so if we accept the premise in that last post that:

Put soul in mortal peril = power Put friends in mortal peril = will Combine the two = willpower

then who or what is Yoruichi fighting for? why does she keep putting herself in these situations where she runs a non-zero risk of death against Soifon or Aizen or Askin or Tokinada?

well Yoruichi still wears a military uniform. Yoruichi isn’t about running away. Yoruichi’s got responsibilities. Soifon still calls Yoruichi herself the Tenshiheisōban. Yoruichi decries Tokinada’s focus on ancestral sin. Yoruichi professes values oddly similar to Kaien. let’s focus on that last bit:

it would be pretty reasonable to assume that Yoruichi is a believer in “Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves” by adding up these different remarks. she believes in living her life for her own sake and has some morals and principles and duties she wants to uphold along the way. right? but... is that really it? is she really just this knight errant who loves the realm?

that’s a pretty antiseptic worldview, don’t you think? although it saddens me some to say it it’s pretty clear Yoruichi doesn’t fight for family as this is a rather cold analysis:

she refuses to use Raiju Senkei even while Yūshirō is still bleeding out:

if she can be dispassionate about her own little brother what real hope does Soul Society or the Seireitei have of motivating her? she has her principles but she doesn’t really care about Kisuke’s “for the good of the Seireitei” stuff which Shunsui will later reframe in CFYOW as the obligations of nobles. it’s not “Sweet Home Alabama” that makes her get up in the mornings

Yoruichi tells herself and the world a story about who she is. there’s all this moral posturing and she does care about the world but only so much. that’s what keeps her going forward as she puts it, but what is she going forward toward?

what gets closer to the truth is what enrages her. certain things definitely do. she was excited to fight Askin but she was really pissed at Aizen and almost dying from Yhwach remodeling the Royal Realm:

she’s joking around or right back to being analytical immediately afterward. she’s not motivated by rage. so let’s look at something like the opposite: when’s the one time we see Yoruichi relieved?

she grins pretty earnestly at Soifon in flashback and looks pretty sad after Soifon’s exposition at the end of their fight but she smiles in open relief exactly once. (and she does it again in the anime.) now I’ve been over all this before in extensive detail and you can say I’ve got shipping goggles on if you want but I continue to maintain that this juxtaposition is not flippant:

While such a conversation was going on, several newer reiatsu were felt, coming from the corridor upstairs. Some newcomers were approaching the hall. Grimmjow, from the depths of his memory, recognized one of them. [...]

literally everyone else shuts the hell up to listen to the two of them chit-chat. this is also the only time Yoruichi sincerely apologizes. compare with her boilerplate to Kisuke:

by process of elimination it’s pretty clear what constitutes Yoruichi’s true source of will: Kūkaku. listen to Yoruichi herself: heart and soul are connected. the fact that that source of will—what’s in her heart—is essentially never in danger goes a very long way toward explaining why Yoruichi’s observed combat performance is rather limited: she has the power but she’s largely cut off from the will part of the equation except in a more academic and removed sense.

her heart is seldom in the fight and those duties and obligations she holds up as important do not motivate her strongly even if she shows up on the basis of them

Arrancar Impressions as Caretakers!

Time for Wes’s impressions on the Arrancar in order from 9 to 0! Related to the current ‘Total Rebirth’ verse threads with Aizen and Aaronierro!

(9) Aaronierro Arruruerie - Wes is absolutely terrified of this bugger. The tentacles are enough to make him physically ill enough to vomit on sight. Don’t get him started on the smell! Greed DEFINITELY suits them. Conclusion: Unfit to be his caretaker in Hueco Mundo. HELL NO.

(8) Szayelaporro Granz - Mad scientist that can create a doll of you in a drag-queen like form? Heeeeell NO. This guy’ll wanna pick his ‘oracle’ brain in 2 seconds flat! Wes feels a serious grudge against him as he went against Uryuu Ishida.. someone Wes is fiercely protective of. Conclusion: Unfit to be his caretaker in Hueco Mundo. HARD NO.

(7) Zommari Rureaux - This guy is obsessed with speed and ‘love’. Wes honestly isn’t sure how the meeting between him and Zommari would go, but he’s not into the whole ‘love control’ thing with so many eyes. Conclusion: Unfit to be his caretaker in Hueco Mundo. Gentle pass.

(6) Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez - Big kitty got some claws and Wes wants NO PART of it. This guy has a lot of issues despite being attractive as all hell. A definite pass as this guy would most likely kill him upon giving a ‘fortune’ of losing to anyone. Conclusion: Unfit to be his caretaker in Hueco Mundo. Pass.

(5) Nnoitra Gilga - Uh oh. Not no, but a MEGA HELL NO. This guy would kill the weak oracle on sight.. plus, with his serious battle complex with women--Neliel in general--he’s the most terrifying out of all them. Even if he is attracted. Damn spoon. Conclusion: Unfit to be his caretaker in Hueco Mundo. Too Dangerous.

(4) Ulquiorra Schiffer - He already takes care of Orihime and doesn’t need to be around the Oracle for character Development. He’s important to the story, so polite pass. Conclusion: Already taken by Orihime as caretaker. Unfit for the Oracle.

(3) Tia Haribell - A possible caretaker. Known as the Queen of Hueco Mundo, he figures she’d be a good candidate..... if the Tres Bestias don’t kill him first. Conclusion: Possible option. Not as violent as the others.

(2) Baraggan Louisenbairn - This old man would probably get annoyed with him quick and have him killed. No other explaination.... unless Wes manages to possibly convince him he could serve under him without getting dusted by age... Conclusion: Unfit caretaker of the Oracle. Too fickle for his old age.

(1) Coyote Starrk - Lazy. Easy to talk to..? Pretty lonely. Wes might actually enjoy hanging out with him. Lilinette would be fun to play with unless he’s suddenly pissing her off for some unknown reason. Conclusion: Possible caretaker option. Easy to get along with.

(0) Yammy Llargo - DANGER. DANGER. Wes could EASILY piss him off just by breathing. Conclusion: UNFIT!!! UNFIT!! UNFIIIIIIT!!! Death imminent!!!

It never is a good idea to disturb a lioness during her slumber, lest they wish to become cat food to her wrath. While Candice doesn’t necessarily consider herself at the status of a lioness, she likes a nice comparison of power (aside from the obvious pun of her last name “Catnipp”. Regardless, to herself and to others, namely her girl gang, “they dare not wake her from her naps, or else there will be hell to pay” she would say every so often to the crew before a nap. Liltotto and Meninas generally don’t care, but Giselle is always but a wicked swine to toy with the napping Candice and disturb her often. This time around with another nap coming to sink Candice’s time, another disturbance comes.

Candice is on the couch of her living room in her renovated home in Wandenreich City. This renovated home isn’t exactly hers, but she likes to call it her own since it was her idea to even renovate it. 

After the war, when needing some place to stay, the femritters took to Hueco Mundo to reside temporarily with Queen of Hueco Mundo Tier Harribel and ex-tres Espada Neliel Tu Odelschwanck. What they called home was theirs for only a time before getting cozy, as Candice and Meninas decided they wanted something of the same thing. With their assistance in renovations and scouting of any residual means of Yhwach or any other wackjob Sternritters, the girls and Candice finally called home an empty and desolate Wandenreich City. Largely, it took a long time for that to be even relocated somewhere that wasn’t the dimension of the Soul King Palace; no they took to the Spirit World, way away from the Soul Society as to not cause anymore distraught to the people.

Regardless of where she was located, home was home, and travel to and from home was always easy due to her shadow. A little height never hurt nobody.

Speaking of hurting... Candice is quickly disturbed from her slumber by a drop of something solid on her head, causing her a jolt awake. She was temporarily blinded by darkness, only to remember her hat was over her eyes, fixing the position of it so that she could see what the hell just happened. Before she could bark out at someone, a can of soda rolled onto her thighs in her lap. To her surprise, Liltotto rounded the couch to pop a squat on the other side, sipping her own soda as if she had done nothing wrong. Candice could really beg to differ however, grabbing the soda and reeling it back to launch at the nearby Sternritter.

❝ The hell’s yer problem, crazy bitch, that fuckin’ hurt! ❞ At the finish of her sentence, she launched it at Lil with the full intent to bring her harm, but. Liltotto is a sternritter all the same, prepared for it. She only brought down her drink just a bit, using her other hand to catch the launched soda to protect herself. While not necessary, blut vene was used to make sure Candice wasn’t trying to murder her.

❝ Not very nice, y’know. That could’ve hurt me a lot. ❞ The irony is purely oozing out of her mouth, Lil softly tossing the drink back to Candice nonchalantly. Candice, contrast to Lil, is fuming, but only coming down once she caught the drink and gave it a once over.

It was a strawberry flavored soda, one that Lil always gets her whenever she leaves for snack runs. She can only imagine Meni got her apple, Gigi got her grape, and Lil was definitely sipping down her mango soda. While she didn’t wanna forgive her right away, she simply put it past her, as it wasn’t that big of a deal. 

Candice sucks her teeth in bitterness before listening to the ka-chk! noise the can gave when she popped the cap. She fixes her posture to sit up against the couch’s armrest a bit, lounging in her seat now while taking small sips. It was easing her anger just slightly, as she can’t get mad at strawberry flavored soda... Lil was a different story at least, she can get mad at her all she wants. But at least she got her something.

❝ What’d I tell you about snoozing on the couch. ❞ Lil says in between sips. ❝ You got a room, can’t get pissed at me when you sleep out here and get woken up. ❞ She’s being a little shit on purpose, just to further poke the beast and have fun through her stoic expression. A tiny belch sounds from the blonde-haired Sternritter before eyes glancing over to Candice to look at her. ❝ And don’t start bitching a storm either. ❞

Candice grits her teeth at just how uncaring and smug sounding she was. Lil knew every which way to push Candi’s buttons and it pissed her off to no end, even though she knows for a fact Lil will likely get under her skin on purpose. Candice huffed a breath through her nose before deciding to just bitterly chug the rest of the soda out of spite. Spite for Lil? Who knows, as that doesn’t really do anything to her. Slamming her empty cup down on the coffee table, Candice moves closer to Lil just to let out her own blech; right in her face. Liltotto expected this and just kind of took it. She couldn’t go around being a tyrant with no repercussions. Didn’t mean it wasn’t fun, though. ❝ Bite me, asshole. ❞ Candi barks, a bird flipped directly into her face. 

Liltotto stared blankly at Candice before the side of her mouth slowly began to pull of her face. ❝ So help me, you bite me literally again... ❞ She says through gritted teeth, Lil just obnoxiously chuckling to herself as her mouth returns to normal. 

The tension between them dies pretty quickly after that, Candice deciding to lie back down, this time using Lil’s lap at her pillow. Liltotto just looked down at green-haired brat preparing her next cat nap on her, just kind of having to deal with it in fear of dealing with multiple zaps. Candice brings hand behind her head to give it some more comfy leverage, the other fixing her hat to sit over her eyes again and then resting on her stomach. Lil is now paying for her actions, the consequence being used as a pillow for an indiscriminate amount of time. It’s happened before and it isn’t stopping now.

❝ Aw crud. ❞ She says quietly. Now that she’s stuck here she can’t really do anything else but ask Meni or Gigi to help her get her stuff. As easy as it would be to just shove her off, that only causes more issues and she just wants to relax now, which is possible if Candi naps. Fine by her... She’s just gonna sit back, relax, enjoy her mango soda til it was gone then harass the girls to get her the snacks she bought when she wanted them. For now, it was “quality time” with the house cat.

Neliel To Grown Up [Uryu & Nel] - Part 1

Uryu was walking a through a street of Karakura town, when he sensed a somewhat familiar spiritual pressure, an Arrancar, a non hostile one at that too. So he followed his senses, taking a corner around so he would walk past this person without much suspicion. Yeah, those hazel eyes and green hair, that mask too, it kind of matched what he was sensing from her. But it was impossible, the Nel he knew was a child, not an adult, maybe this was her mother?

"S-sorry! I thought you were someone I know, well a relatieve of them at least...” The Quincy deep in his thoughts somehow bumped into the familiar stranger, instead of walking past her like he intended. It didn’t really help matters that he noticed how pretty she was too once he was close, so he tried to cover up his faint blush by pushing his glasses up in typical habit.

What kind of nails you think neliel would wear, short, long, stiletto etc And what nail polish I hope you don't think this question is retarded, I just take attention on some silly details while drawing and putting nails on the character is one of them I don't like to draw them like they had no nails

Oooo interesting!!! I happen to love doing my nails lmao so this is a fun question. I guess it depends if this is AU Nel or not, because I think if she was going to be fighting, she would keep them fairly short to keep from ruining her grip.  Ugh ever tried moving heavy boxes with long nails? Ouch. I bet she would do short, maybe not all the way down, and I bet she’d use just a plain clear coat, if that, or match that pretty hair with a flat color. I’d say fuschia to match estigma, but she seems more reserved about that kind of stuff; her outfits are always so modest, so I feel like she wouldn’t go for something that bold. This is all just my opinion~! I bet you can have her rock anything, but it’s what I would prolly do for AU or canon Nel.

Neliel, Rangiku and Rukia Meeting Each other Headcanons

-For the most part I feel like all three of them would get along. -at first, things would most likely become awkward between them. - Rukia and Rangiku would keep their guard up since Neliel is an Arrancar. - neliel would also keep her guard up because she thinks shinjgamis are evil. -after all three of them realize that they won't hurt each other things will be less tense. - Out of the three I think Rangiku and Neliel would get along better. -but of course Rukia and Rangiku would be more comfortable with each other since they both know each other atleast. -Because with Rukia and Rangiku, they do  get along but I feel like that they are completely different people personality wise. -It would  be a bit harder for Rangiku and Rukia to make conversation because of it. - But with Rangiku and Neliel, the two would start talking about random things and I can even picture the two complimenting each other as well. -Rukia on the other hand will be a bit awkward by the whole chatting between the two women. -but once she loosens up and Neliel asks question about Rukia they will begin to talk. -If rukia really wanted to make conversation with Neliel she would just tell her that she knows Ichigo. -she would sound so excited about her knowing ichigo. She would ask so many questions about him. -she will answer them and not only that she will begin to tell embarassing stories about ichigo that would make neliel laugh so hard. -Rangiku will laugh along with them. It is a great time. -That is, until Ichigo finds out that Rukia told the other two about those stories. -The three of them teased them for a week. -poor ichigo. -overall I think if under different circumstances  I think Neliel, Rukia and Rangiku would get along well together. They wouldn't be the best of friends but they can all bully ichigo together and that would be pretty fun.

Another thing that bugged me in TYBW (i mean really what didn't tho amirite?) is the NEGAL(NEGAR?) Historical Site that got very specifically kind of snuck into the background a few times with a light plot hook before vanishing for a while and then amounting to basically nothing.(shout out tot eh Visoreds, yall know what it is) And I think I mentioned as much in passing the one time I sort of mentioned the locale in another post, but I don't think I really addressed specifically why that disappointed me...

So, a refresher before the anime gets its chance to take a stab at things. We only really see the Negal Ruins twice, sort of 3 times...

At some point after Grimmjow(?) finishes off Quilge Opie Urahara sets up his little archeological camp with Chad, and Orihime. We see the interior of this tent and can sort of see Urahara has set up some equipment, suggesting that they are in fact at their destination and not on their way there. (Although it could also be some sort of communication equipment, in which case they could be anywhere...)

The next time we see Urahara & co. we get a good look at the Negal Ruins proper. Here they are named by Urahara, and they've got distinctive architecture that indicates they are not ruins of Los Noches, like what Aizen built. And for comparison we have seen in various instances that Hueco Mundo otherwise appears to lack its own proper architecture. (Stick a pin in that, we'll come back to it in a bit...)

They have only just arrived recently, suggesting they have been travelling between different locations of interest, and Chad has picked up Grimmjow and Neliel in the meantime.

This is also where we see a Quincy cross that Urahara is working on, and we will also have to return to this at a later point...

And then we see it one more time, but don't really learn anything new. Next time we see Urahara he's popping out of one of his patented little backdoor gates sneaking into the section of the Quincy city/fortress(?) that has been swapped out for the 12th Division's labs. And then we just never go back and never discuss what was done there. Urahara has his stupid hollowize pills so presumably what he was researching at the ruins should've had something to do with that, but it seems like a pretty stupid insubstantive link.

So let's talk the implications here...

First notable detail that gets missed in the translation is that this word iseki[遺跡] while it translates as the general terms "ruins/relics/remains" it very specifically refers to historical sites and is the Japanese term used for what in English is called an "Archaeological site​." I feel like the overall context already makes it kind of obvious, but I figure it's worth pointing out that it is in fact an explicit detail that these are ancient buildings and not just abandoned. (above are just a few of the immediate google image results when googling "遺跡")

Other small detail, in the scene just before the Negal Ruins are named, Uryuu has had his encounter with Yhwach to drink his blood and receive his schrift, and after the Sternritter address his appearance in their ranks, Jugram retires to his room and ominously mentions, "...his majesty's true intentions" before the scene cuts. And "[Yhwach]'s true intentions" are brought up here in such a way that implies what Urahara is researching will reveal just that; some new point of tension and drama about what Ywhach really wants, and how his means of attaining that goal will affect the plot... (haha jk Kubo doesn't do any of that)

So, on the one hand, the immediate follow up I want to ask is, "What was Yhwach doing in Hueco Mundo that left evidence Urahara can deduce from?" There's a more low hanging fruit to snatch first...

"Who built these ruins?"

We know Aizen only built his fortress recently. We know it has its own distinctive modern style that doesn't match the ruins.

We know that Barragan's original Los Noches had no walls or ceilings.

And we also know that the Adjuchas live in more primitive cave dwellings, as those designs were originally drafted by Kubo for part of anime filler, and later soft canonized when they appeared in Nnoitra's dying flashbacks.

So not the Adjuchas. Not Aizen. Not whatever group Barragan was in charge of(they just looks like regular hollows mostly?) That really only leaves two options...

The Vastolorde? They are the only group of Menos who's living situation is unaccounted for, but considering their entire existence is also a plot point that never went anywhere... who knows??

The Quincy...?

Before i tackle this, a brief detour to address that Quincy cross Urahara found...

So, what this always read as to me was that the outer prism was a barrier kido of some sort, the square on top is a segment extracted from the dig site, and that the Quincy cross has been etched into said isolated segment of stone(?) while the PAKI PAKI sound effect is the sound of cracking/snapping is the sound of the whatever wisps of energy are there escaping the cracks of the carved cross.

But what the colorist has done makes it seems like the cross is being formed by the energy. Also I don't know what the square is supposed to be here. I'm curious to see how the anime will handle this...

So, back to "The Quincy?"

If the Quincy had settled Hueco Mundo at some point in the past, (presumably the 1000 years ago when Yhwach last tried and failed to invade Soul Society.) There are two variations on that. The most obvious being that Yhwach's previous army of human Quincy for some reason jumped into Hueco Mundo and set up full on permanent fortifications there. Although it's not really properly addressed, this could have been the cause for the Quincy extermination circa ~200 years ago, as clearing out enough of the hollows to secure safe settlement would very certainly have been a noticeable uptick in hollow deaths, enough to pose a threat to the balance of souls, and warrant Shinigami intervention.

But an alternative possibility is that Yhwach had built a kingdom of Hollows (or proto-Arrancar) at some point in the past. We know from his recruitment tactics that Arrancar can in fact use Quincy crosses to form spirit weapons, and can even use Quincy magic via chants and tools. (despite the idiot hollow pill plot device trying to claim the two innate types cannot mix; which is blatantly contradicted by the fact that we already saw Arrancar Quincy and were told/shown that Quincy powers are inherited via bloodline and/or blood eucharist.) And we got that extremely juicy, but completely dead end detail at the very start of the arc where Asguiaro is actually offended to be called an Arrancar, and instead self identifies as a Quincy exclusively. That could mean any number of things, but since it never gets brought up again... who knows???

It could have meant there was just a thorough cult-like ideological brainwashing procedure in recruiting Arrancar.

It could've meant becoming a Quincy meant giving up something fundamental to being an Arrancar. (Luders did have a suspicious lack of mask fragment and a superiority complex toward Asguiaro.)

...meant Yhwach removed his mask and not Aizen, leading to a taxonomical schism.(although the way they qualify that the Arrancar are being recruited from Aizen's remnants suggests otherwise)

... meant he was part of some long hidden cult of Hollows that still worshipped Yhwach from 1000 years ago. (In a thematically appropriate reference to the secret Chrstians of Japan)

It could even have meant Asguiaro was himself a surviving Quincy from Yhwach's previous Hollow army who had been awaiting Yhwach's return.

There were a lot of options really...

But in any case, let's rewind all the way back to,

"What was Yhwach doing in Hueco Mundo that left evidence Urahara can deduce from?"

If this research was supposed to have given some insight into Yhwach's goals, it implies that what these ruins are left over from Yhwach having previously attempted the same thing he's doing in the TYBW plot. I will start with the one that gels with the strict "canon" of the scenario that I find exceedingly stupid...

The specific circle and 5-armed star being researched resembles the Wandenreich's medals and badges specifically and not so much the Ishidas' crosses. Given the stupid pill thing, then the suggestion could well be that Urahara finds evidence of medalization being used, and somehow evidence that they were used on and failed to capture Resurreccion, leading to his deduction about the pills. And this completely ignores the age of the ruins. Dumb. Bad. Boo.

A more straight forward scenario: that he was trying to mass exterminate hollows to forcibly unbalance the world, that would obviously be easiest to do where the hollows live, so he set up a base right in Hueco Mundo. But there is nothing about this that suggests what evidence this would have left behind other than that they were there.

The headcanon I've been arduously building on this whole time: That Yhwach's original army was made up of Hollows who worshipped him, making clear that the entire long blood feud between Quincy and Hollows, and Yhwach's implicit protection against the human Quincy's enemies was an opportunistic farce.

The final scene of the Negal Ruins is one in which Orihime kind of absentmindedly says that she wishes the brief moment of cooperation between Arrancar, humans, and shinigami could last longer... That if maybe everyone could've worked together from the beginning there would be no war... And although a little obtuse a call back, this line echo's Yhwach's original declaration, that he wages his war out of hate of "conflict" and in the name of "peace."

The return of "peace" as a motif here seems to suggest a perhaps dark truth of the matter, that the uniting different factions was always a part of "[Yhwach]'s true intentions" and part of what they would learn from the archeological site: What Yhwach was aiming for. Total unification. Total religious conversion. An end to the Buddhist style 6 Realms and reincarnation, replaced with one eternal kingdom under one singular god.
