do you have any particular thoughts on snakes specifically, rattlesnakes

I love snakes a lot!!

rattlesnakes are very cool i love their scales and thermal infrared detection. and of course, the rattle itself is very cool and ive gotten to hold a discarded rattle and what can i say it totally rattled. my favorite type of rattlesnake is the sidewinders i love how they move.

i originally was going to talk about the 'fun fact' about how rattlesnakes are evolving to be quieter due to the quiet ones escaping human notice and surviving.

but i decided to research that before posting to make sure i wasnt spreading false information and turns out that is a myth! There is no evidence rattlesnakes are evolving to be quieter.

^ these are 'according to snake experts', not scientific articles, but i also couldnt find any studies showing proof snakes are evolving to be quieter due to humans/feral hogs so i believe it is a myth.

um after reading an abstract about a study proposing different hypotheses for the evolution of rattlesnake tails i realized i was getting really sidetracked so im gonna post this now.

Fungi Funeral [1/4/24]

Who decomposes

a fungus, when she dies?

Does her next of kin, break her down,

thinking "Oh, oh, dear mother of mine"?

Does a mushroom return

to the earth that she's built?

The earth that she's turned

into dirt made from silt?

Does a mushroom grieve

for her family, forgotten?

And is she alone

until she herself is rotten?

Do fungi feel

as alone as we do?

Does a mushroom want

a love just as true?

I've read that fungi

make paths in a way

similar to those

that a computer may.

Are we the same?

Both inside and out?

After all, after death,

we become a brand new sprout

Just saw a metasequoia fossil being advertised on Etsy AS VINTAGE
