It is crucial that we come together to combat these threats and protect our digital spaces."

As a victim of cybercrime herself, Rashmika Mandanna has experienced the disturbing impact after a deepfake video of the actress circulated online, leading her to publicly address the issue and raise awareness. The actress reached out to her social media fam earlier on October 15 to share this news and posted about it on her official handle on Instagram saying, “We live in a digital age, and cybercrime is at an all-time high. As someone who’s experienced its impact, I believe it’s time for stricter measures to protect our online world.” She urged her fans to join her in the new campaign and added, “Let’s unite to build a safer cyberspace for ourselves and future generations. I want to bring awareness and protect as many of you as possible from cybercrimes so as I take on the role of brand ambassador for I4C.”

Rashmika's appointment comes at a time when cybercrime rates are escalating, with new forms of digital threats emerging rapidly. The Ministry of Home Affairs is confident that her influence and commitment to the cause will significantly contribute to the national campaign against cybercrime, ultimately helping to create a safer and more secure digital environment for all citizens.

US President-elect Donald Trump has picked New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik as his ambassador to the United Nations, choosing an ally with little foreign policy experience and staunch pro-Israel views to represent Washington at the international organisation. “Elise is an incredibly strong, tough, and smart America First fighter,” Trump said in a statement on Monday. Since the Israeli war on Gaza began in October 2023, Stefanik has supported bills targeting pro-Palestinian student encampments that were erected this past spring in protest against the war, calling on their administrations to cut economic ties with Israel or companies they say support the war.

Elise Stefanik (R-NY) has accepted Donald Trump’s nomination to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, drawing criticism from opponents who challenge the president-elect’s decision to cite her prior controversial and shifting statements, including her apparent hostility toward the international organization.

“Stefanik has repeatedly attacked the United Nations over accusations that the world body is antisemitic. Last month she called for a ‘complete reassessment of U.S. funding of the United Nations’ in response to efforts by the Palestinian Authority to expel Israel from the United Nations as war rages in the Middle East,” Politico reports. “Stefanik this year drew praise from Republicans and Jewish leaders after she grilled college presidents in a House hearing on their handling of campus demonstrations over the Israel-Gaza war.” But before Donald Trump won the GOP presidential nomination in 2016, Congresswoman Stefanik had opposed the real estate mogul and later attributed responsibility for the January 6, 2021, insurrection to the now-former president, who sought to overturn his election defeat. Stefanik, 40, currently also serves as the Chair of the House Republican Conference, a role she won after MAGA Republicans ousted U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from that leadership position. Cheney, who opposed Donald Trump, served as one of two Republicans on the U.S. House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack.
