Male operatic singing in metal, vol. III (Freestyle edition)
[Volume I] -- [Volume II]
Since there has been some interest in my first two posts on the topic and I also see people on Reddit ask about male opera in symph fairly often, I figured I'd do a part 3. Unfortunately it seems such voices are still not very common, so today I'll post about bands that sort of fit or only do this style sometimes.
This is more of an "If you liked the bands in the last two posts, you may also be interested in these" post.
youtube
Enid
Some underrated German symphonic black metal from 2002. Martin Wiese's singing goes in an operatic direction on many tracks, plus there's the wonderful choral harmonies. It's a bit like Empyrium from Volume I, but more metal. I knew this music as a teenager but didn't appreciate it nearly enough. Looking back I think it's actually really cool and avant-garde.
Caveat: To me the vocals sound a bit more "medieval" than operatic but I don't feel competent to really make this judgement. Either way, give it a listen!
youtube
Magni Animi Viri
This Italian band only released one album, Heroes Temporis, in 2006 and an English-language re-release in 2016, but the album has tracks like this with the beautiful voice of Francesco Napoletano. The style on the rather eclectic album varies from song to song though and they have three singers, of which only this one fits the bill.
Caveat: More prog-rock and neoclassical than metal.
youtube
Amberian Dawn
Amberian Dawn made a name for themselves as a power metal band in the late 2000s and often got categorized as symphonic due to the voice of their first singer Heidi Parviainen. After Capri took over as singer, they turned to what they call "ABBA metal", which, while very fun, has no symphonic ambitions. However, on this track they have the baritone Markus Nieminen as a guest singer. One of the rare instances of a metal band combining a male operatic and a female non-operatic voice.
Caveat: The guest singer appears only on this track.
youtube
Fabio Lione Secret Opera Superstar (with Angra)
Fabio Lione sings a duet with Tarja Turunen and reveals a side of his voice that I had no idea existed, even after two decades of listening to Rhapsody. Personally, I wonder why he doesn't always sing like this if he has the skills.
Caveat: Sadly, only in this performance.
youtube
The Tolkien Ensemble
This isn't metal at all, but a lot of metalheads like Tolkien. If you want to hear Legolas and Operaragorn sing poetry for their dead friend Boromir with a piano backing, here is your chance. Christopher Lee also appears on the album, singing the role of Treebeard.
Caveat: Absolutely not metal.
youtube
Forestella
A k-pop boyband does a symph metal concept =)

Now I know it, I have the proof of this miracle: the island is alive!
Yesterday while I was walking along the path to reach the usual peak, I sank into dark dreams; it was like falling straight inside a bottomless puddle of black ink.
In the dreams I changed into a cat and started looking for you, looking for you like an hungry and frantic animal.
I have no idea about the dimensions of its domain but the island should not be a large area at all! What I believe is that it exist without an own shape, with borders moulded just beyond the desire.
I dont know where look for you or where find you out.
Are you a ghost that moves on the island or is it the island that lives and moves around you?
I have tried to figure out an approximate cartography of the main places where your apparitions have occurred in the reality around me and also in the dreams where you cach my soul always much frequently.
The list of places is the following:
1. Beach below the peak where "the castle H." stands;
2.Temple: near the ivy-covered walls;
3.Temple: near the tree across the ancient road;
4.P. Garden near what remains of the dream catcher tree;
5.Parrot Bar in Borgo C.
Every time you appear I hear one of your songs, the ones you left me, your soundtracks that I adore and after that the sea ripples slightly as for goosebumps came on the skin.
Dear Joey Kalós (like beautiful in greek language) you are not the only ghost that populates the island but there are others:
-Francesco S. called: "the General Uncle" is an elderly veteran also called "the Neapolitan Englishman" who walks around in an old military uniform usually lost in his thoughts with his hands behind his back;
-Sergio B. is very rarely seen, he wears a red and white checked shirt and khaki corduroy pants, he always has a guitar behind his back and usually sings and strums songs by F. De A. (especially one that talks about the old fisherman);
-Rita C. is an old lady always well dressed with a big bag full of sweets and gifts for the children.;
-Priscilla: a toy poodle who confronts the island in special places and moments.
1.Spiaggia al di sotto del picco dove sorge "il castello H.";
2.Tempio: vicino alle pareti ricoperte di edera;
3.Tempio: vicino all'albero dall'altra parte della strada;
4.Giardino P. nei pressi di ció che resta dell'albero degli acchiappa sogni;
Francesco S. detto: "lo zio Generale" si tratta di un veterano anziano detto anche "l'inglese Napoletano" che gira con una divisa militare vetusta normalmente perso nei suoi pensieri con le mani dietro la schiena;
Sergio B. lo si vede davvero raramente, indossa una camicia a quadri rossa e bianca e dei pantaloni di velluto color cachi, ha sempre una chitarra dietro la schiena e normalmente intona e strimpella canzoni di F. De A. (specialmente una che parla di in vecchio pescatore);
Rita C. (detta Rituccia o Zia Rita) e' una signora anziana sempre ben vestita con una grande borsa piena di caramelle e regali per i bambini.;
Priscilla: una barboncina Toy che compare sull'isola in posti e momenti speciali.

If you think that cursing in blogs are inappropriate then you should read Erika Napoletano’s blogs and Mark Manson’s pieces, you infant brained human being! Now, do you want to read this?

If you think that cursing in blogs are inappropriate then you should read Erika Napoletano’s blogs and Mark Manson’s pieces, you infant brained human being! Now, do you want to read this?
Very well, then please proceed.
On May 18, 2020 at 10:47 PM, our professor in Trends (I can’t remember the complete name of the subject.) gave us an online requirement, blog making. Ok! So basically we are given this question:
Tumblr media
I will give you answers! No, not the “Plant trees” and “Conserve water” type of answers but a legit answer to this question. You see, this is a very serious question that requires a very serious answer that’s why I invited a good friend here in my blog to help me get an A+. Please welcome, Mr. Albert Einstein himself.
Tumblr media
According to Albert Einstein, “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.” Human stupidity, y’all know that human brain evolved (It makes me wonder, what happened to yours? Sike!) and evidences  proving its evolution are all over the internet. The human race is known for its adaptive nature, we survived! Even at the brink extinction we WILL survive!
We the modern Homo sapiens are the living evidence that humans are powerful beyond measure. Resiliency to climate variability and change? Ha! Piece of cake. Our great ancestors survived the Ice age by developing tools and making clothes to keep them warm, the things we have now and the technology we are continuously developing are our trump cards to avoid extinction. Ever heard of the Variability Selection Hypothesis? This hypothesis suggests that environmental instability shaped humans, if we don’t have plants to eat then we eat animals or even humans just like ourselves. But modern societies don’t approve cannibalism, and I forbid you to bite off your arms.
Tumblr media
So, let me ask you a question.
Tumblr media
THAT’S RIGHT! YOU SON OF A BIRD, HUMANS. We make up all of these. Humans can be found everywhere, even at the tightest space you could ever live in, you can find a breathing human. (Check this link)  https://www.scoopwhoop.com/Couple-Lives-In-Sewer/
So the question “HOW CAN WE MAKE OUR FAMILIES, COMMUNITIES, BUSINESSES, AND OUR WHOLE LOCALITY RESILIENT TO CLIMATE VARIABILITY AND CHANGE?” translates to “How can we make ourselves resilient to climate variability and change?” Planting trees, conserving water, proper distribution of wastes are ways on how to limit the harsh effects caused by this change in the environment to us. It is not a form of resiliency but a self-serving action that humans are ought to do to avoid the environment’s harsh effects (If you don’t get what I meant by that then the example is wearing clothes to keep you warm). We are resilient in nature, that is the biggest reason why we survived and why we are continuously surviving.
The product of our years of evolution are not just our features, language and society. Technology is a product of our evolution too, from stones to complicated machines and computers.
Tumblr media
Let us take this blog on a different level, shall we?
We can use the situation in Angat dam as an example. The metro manila depends on the Angat Dam’s water supply and the drastic change on its water level affects not only the families but the businesses all over metro manila too. And guess what did humans do? They are currently proposing a project named Angat Water Transmission Improvement Project (AWTIP, the “Project”) that aims to normalize the dam’s water level.
Tumblr media
Oh? Not satisfied yet are you?
Have you seen the changes after the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo? I meant this:
Tumblr media
When we combine the idea behind my examples, we can conclude that both we and the environment cause change. The environment offers drought then we do measures such as increasing water supply, decreasing water demand, and increasing flexibility (According to Snover, 2015). The environment provides harsh weather then we adapt in different ways to avoid it. There is no specific answer on how we can adapt to climate variability and change, even our bodies change depending on our environment.
This explains the existence of black skin, a result of the human body’s adaptation to (UV) radiation. And these changes dates back millions of years ago, the change in our environment is not new to us and our kind. We’ve always been dealing with this problem and we are constantly dealing with it up until today. Different measures on how can we deal with climate change will emerge in the future, and it will probably involve a new type of home, clothes, transportations, and many more. So to finish this blog I invited another good friend to deliver a quote. A round of applause for Mr. Winston Churchill.
Tumblr media
“To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.” –Winston Churchill
And with that I thank you and your infant brain for reading this blog. So, how is it?
Tumblr media
YOU MOTHER–

And of course there's Project Gutenberg for classic literature and pretty much anything with an expired copyright. Most everything is available to read as not only ebooks (in multiple formats, including older/disconinued ones), but also as web pages and downloadable HTML files (basically a web page you can open without an internet connection).
Here's all the languages available, sorted by how much stuff there is:
Languages with more than 50 books: Chinese  Danish  Dutch  English  Esperanto  Finnish  French  German  Greek  Hungarian  Italian  Latin  Portuguese  Spanish  Swedish  Tagalog
Languages with up to 50 books: Afrikaans  Aleut  Arabic  Arapaho  Bodo  Breton  Bulgarian  Caló  Catalan  Cebuano  Czech  Estonian Farsi  Frisian  Friulian  Gaelic, Scottish  Galician  Gamilaraay  Greek, Ancient  Haida  Hebrew  Icelandic  Iloko  Interlingua  Inuktitut  Irish  Japanese  Kashubian  Khasi  Korean  Lithuanian  Maori  Mayan Languages  Middle English  Nahuatl  Napoletano-Calabrese  Navajo  North American Indian  Norwegian  Occitan  Ojibwa  Old English  Polish  Romanian  Russian  Sanskrit  Scots  Serbian  Slovenian  Tagabawa  Telugu  Tibetan  Welsh  Yiddish
FWIW, "more than 50" can range from less than 100 (Tagalog) to tens of thousands (English).

Neapolitan language - Wikipedia
Neapolitan (autonym: ('o n)napulitano [(o n)napuliˈtɑːnə]; Italian: napoletano) is a Romance language of the Italo-Romance group spoken in Naples and most of continental Southern Italy. It is named after the Kingdom of Naples, which once covered most of the area, since the city of Naples was its capital. On 14 October 2008, a law by the Region of Campania stated that Neapolitan was to be protected.[2]
