Blog #5 My Identity
My identity has changed so much recently. Just in the time that 2025 has given me, I've been through so much that has carved me into who I am even more than before. The following photos represent how I've recently felt my life has been made up of.

Taken on my Lumix S5IIX, 50mm 1.8, using a Nanlite Mixpad for controlled, constant lighting.
I wanted this photo to represent the two-faced nature of my emotions. I've had so much happen to me personally that has been very challenging to navigate, and while choices must still take place, I'm stuck at every corner. The blue represents the solemn nature of my choices that I know I have to make. If I am upset, so be it, but it can't drag me down if it's out of my control. The red illustrates the strength and power I felt - like I could make any decision I wanted to, right or wrong. These two characteristics lead to the complicated task of navigating life and its ups and downs.

Taken on my Lumix S5IIX, 50mm 1.8, using natural light
No, this photo isn't loading. To continue with the theme of conflicted emotions, this photo describes one of those: the feeling of not being seen for who I am. Surrounded by soft, cool colors, standing on the remains of a recently cut tree in my backyard, I wait for someone to see me for who I am as I navigate through the crazy contingencies of life. I wanted to convey the emotion by still crafting a simple composition, alluding to my life structure (which doesn't look too complicated), but add the headache of the photo being out of focus to show that even with the dream of a simple life, you get what you get.

Taken on my Lumix S5IIX, 50mm 1.8, using natural light
This photo changes everything for me compared to the two previous images. Although simple, I couldn't help but utilize this to convey my dire need for help, specifically through God and his path for my life. With nothing else to fall back on (the empty blue sky that fills the image), I completely trust the path already set for me. I may feel happy, sad, angry, and confused at times, but at all times, I am reaching my hands to another to guide me along the path that has been created because I can't see it on my own. My faith was born last year and has grown so significantly in a short amount of time. I have grown as a person because I finally let go of the belief that I can control everything and trusted in my fate through this gift of life.

Antyeshti India Shoot
Firstly, I just want to say that the experience of shooting Antyeshti in India was such a memorable and unique experience. The shoot went really well despite the differences in language and culture and we got some footage that I am really proud to have my name attached with.
For the majority of the crew, this was the first time we had worked on an international co-production and this presented several challenges. Although the British contingent had all been warned ahead of time about the heat, the dangers of jetlag, and had a faint awareness of what Indian culture was, speaking for myself I had no idea what the experience would be like and the jetlag hit me hard. Luckily Abbie had scheduled a couple of days on either side of our flights to get up to speed with the local timezone.
My first day in India was spent checking the locally rented kit, which consisted of Godox versions of the nanlites I'm familiar with from Napier. After this, we were prepped for the next 5 days which consisted of 3 or 4hr drives into the countryside, largely working off generators and battery lights.
Although the surroundings and culture were very different, the actual shoots felt very familiar and ran very well. This is partly because of the organisation by Abbie & Saif but also because of the incredibly hardworking crewmembers who worked as if they'd known each other for years instead of days. The days were hot and long, however, and I often went back to Kushal's sisters' apartment wanting nothing more than to eat and sleep. In retrospect, it was definitely worth it however and I will jump at the chance to work on more international shoots if given the chance.

One of the shots I'm most proud of. I love how soft her face looks and the lighting on her sari.
