I don’t have the memory I used to but that was the most impressed I’ve been with Grant Dawson I think. Makes me wonder if it’s growth or not having to cut the extra 5lbs. But he looked great in there with Nad Narimani.

Nad Narimani decisions Khalid Taha in our FS1 opener
That felt like a really good Cage Warriors main event. If I had to sum it up in a word, it's that Nad Naramani is a better wrestler than Taha despite being a worse athlete. I enjoyed that although it was without question one of those regional MMA style fights. Nad Narimani's UFC debut has been well overdue so I'm glad he got the nod here. Dude has a chance to really find a home in the 145/155 lb division ranks due to his heavy pressure style and his underrated pop in his hands. Taha needs to tighten up his wrestling (or drop a weight class) if he wants to make use of what he has which is a pretty active bottom game, some good striking andwhat seemed like some solid cardio for a dude up a weight class.

Published: March 19, 2019
This past weekend saw St Patricks Day get started off right with an absolutely solid card from top to bottom, take place in London England at the O2 Arena.
In the main event Jorge Masvidal returned from nearly 500 days away from the cage and shock the world and collective MMA community with a brutal knockout of Darren Till. Then for an encore, Masvidal got into a physical altercation with the man who was victorious in the Co-Main event, Leon Edwards.
Heres what you missed on the Main Card
·Jorge Masvidal def. Darren Till via knockout (punches) – Round 2, 3:05
Why this matters- Masvidal proved a ton of haters wrong and in the process, solidified himself among casual fans as a fix for those missing the presence of the Diaz brothers. Darren Till is almost surely going into a long layoff and when he does return; is likely to do so as middleweight.
·Leon Edwards def. Gunnar Nelson via split decision (28-29, 29-27, 29-28)
Why this matters- Edwards continued his winning ways and now owns 7 straight victories in arguably the toughest division in the UFC. After the fight, his performance was marred by a backstage altercation with main event winner Jorge Masvidal. Nelson will be looking to fight again sooner than later as long as he is injury free. While Edwards won the fight clearly, despite one judge scoring for Nelson, minimal physical damage was imposed and “Gunni” should be poised for a quick turnaround.
· Dominick Reyes def. Volkan Oezdemir via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
Why this matters- Volkan Oezdemir did everything right to win this fight and yet somehow lost it. In a fight between two light heavyweight bruisers, fans saw the definition of a tactical stalemate. Neither Oezdemir or Reyes did enough to claim outright robbery, and while Reyes walked away with a win, the fans are left at a loss.
·Nathaniel Wood def. Jose Quinonez via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 2, 2:46
Why this matters- Nathaniel Wood saw his most game opponent yet, and dispatched him with relative ease. Wood looked every bit the part of shooting star prospect as he displayed his well rounded approach en route to a second round submission win. Wood looks like a star and an appearance on a massive card, like the July card rumored to have Conor Mcgregors next fight, will be a great launch point. In a bantamweight division that’s wide open, it would be great to see him matched up against a real challenge in, Jimmie Rivera. Quinonez is back to the drawing board after getting so easily handled and should look to right the ship as soon as possible if he is ever going to make waves in such a talent deep division.
·Claudio Silva def. Danny Roberts via verbal submission (armbar) – Round 3, 3:37
Why this matters- Claudio Silva looked like a great jiu-jitsu player, while Roberts looked like the much better fighter. Roberts did everything he could to keep from getting submitted in rounds 1 and 2 but as a result, he was in a deep hole on the scorecards. Round 3 saw the action go more in the way of Roberts as Silvas rudimentary standup was on full display. The end of the fight came at the hands of the ultra rare “verbal submission” due to an armbar. Roberts was losing this fight and referee error gave him a point of contention to help mar the win. For what its worth, I watched live and replay and couldn’t hear the submission; despite his arm appeared to hyperextend or break.
·Jack Marshman def. John Phillips via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Why this matters- In a fight tailor made to be an absolute war, fans were left with little more than a scuffle. Marshman was surprisingly tactical. Phillips on the other hand seemed to have no other options after the plan of “brawl til I fall” fell through. Neither of these guys made or lost any fans with this fight and did little to really justify a main card slot moving forward.
Preliminary Card
· Arnold Allen def. Jordan Rinaldi via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 29-28)
· Marc Diakiese def. Joe Duffy via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
· Saparbek Safarov def. Nico Negumereanu via unanimous decision (29-26, 29-26, 29-27)
· Dan Ige def. Danny Henry via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 1, 1:17
· Molly McCann def. Priscila Cachoeira via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-
· Mike Grundy def. Nad Narimani via TKO (punches) – Round 2, 4:42
Betting Implications moving forward-
No fighter on the card showed us a hidden caveat to their game that the betting public should pay more attention to moving forward. Betting favorites went 8-4 overall and fights generally went off without many surprises. Followers of the Fistful of Cash podcast went 8-4 as well with an additional +260 parlay winner. Overall listeners could have ended up with as much as a 6 unit profit if all bets were held to 1 unit plays. Year to date the shows record improves to 75-45.

Mike Grundy stops Nad Narimani in the 2nd round!
Grundy get the first (T)KO finish of his career in his UFC debut.
Awesome opening fight here at featherweight with Grundy outlasting Narimani to get the stoppage win. Grundy had a great opening round, seemingly surprising Narimani with his speed and willingness to throw the right hand. Bloodied Narimani up and hurt him a couple times in the process. Narimani realized that Grundy wasn’t really moving his head or getting back into his stance after throwing his shot in the 2nd. Proceeds to seriously crack Grundy with a right, rocking him in the process. Narimani got extra aggressive but walked into a left hook from Grundy that started the end of the fight.

Mike Grundy wins his UFC debut and stops Nad Narimani in the 2nd!
WHAT a fight. A little bit of everything on display from both guys and one of those fights that you’d hear people go crazy about on the regional scene. Mike Grundy is a really solid wrestler and so it looked like his gameplan was to feint Narimani into exchanges so he could get inside on his legs. On the other hand, Nad Narimani was going to be comfortable to strike from a distance with a lead uppercut as a back up tool if things got hairy. It felt like Narimani was having a tough time dealing with the power of Grundy and then he caught him flush (after being wobbled himself early on) and that led to a wild insane sprint. He rocked Gundy twice in the second round and when it looked like he was about to get the finish, Grundy caught him, dropped him and it was about thirty seconds of all Grundy action before he sealed the deal with a damn good ref stoppage.
