This stupid bitch is going to court over a 90 minute course

Also the course is specifically on maori world views in regards to land and working with iwi and maori clients, so it's not even like she's being taught about maori "religious" beliefs that could conflict with her own.

So if you are not from NZ, you may not be aware, but the Act party, one of 3 parties in government, is wanting to up haul Te Tiriti O Waitangi, our founding document to redefine what it means, with a new bill called the treaty bill.
Their reasoning behind this is that everyone should have equal rights, and we need to stop giving Māori "extra rights".
And whilst I do agree with the fact that everyone should have equal rights, which we already do have, equal rights are a separate thing to reparations and fixing the wrongs of the past, as well as making sure everyone has equal outcomes, which is what those "extra rights" are.
The Māori Health Authority which the government has gotten rid of, existed to help better the health outcomes from Māori as they have the worst health outcomes out of our population. This was not some fancy new fangled thing which have Māori so much more benefits than the Healthcare system for the rest of the country, it was there to have Māori health outcomes reflect the same level that other ethnicities have here in Aotearoa.
The bill also wants to get rid of Māori seats in councils. It has already been changed so councils recently could vote if they want to get rid of them, and some have whilst others have kept them. Maori seats are mandatory seats in council, which means that Māori are always represented in local councils.
This part counts as self governance, which was promised in te tiriti. Changing this, changes a major part of te tiriti which Act party is claiming its not doing. This is not Māori having more rights, it is part of reparations, allowing Māori to have a voice in what happens with the land taken from them.
Those are just two things which the bill will implement.
Whilst the National party and NZ first party, the two other parties in government have voiced that they don't support the bill, actions have already been taken which implement aspects of the bill prior to the bill being read. The other parties in opposition have also voiced that they do not support the bill.
The government has also played dirty.
There was meant to be a peaceful protest, going from different parts of the country to parliment, planned for when the bill was originally supposed to be proposed and potentially have a first reading, in 2ish weeks. The bill was moved up to today.
This undermines the Waitangi Tribunal, which is a Tribunal that protects the rights of Maori which was preparing a case to prevent the proposal of the bill. The change of the proposal of the bill means that the Waitangi tribunal can't do anything. And this isn't the first time this has happened this year.
It is incredibly disgusting what this government is doing to Māori.

every time people find a reason to start clowning on david seymour, i've learned to immediately ask myself "did he manufacture this himself and what he is trying to overshadow?"
it's very fun and cathartic to clown on the guy, don't get me wrong. but i do genuinely worry that, in many cases, he's aware that we love doing it, and is trying to bait us in one direction by making a scene of himself so that we're not looking in another when something important is happening. think how the woke sushi meme, for a while there, was seeming to overshadow the actual important discussions about kids not being fed.
news headlines will latch onto whatever is eye catching. sometimes it's the shock value, sometimes it's the absurdity, sometimes it's the comedic aspects. and i have to wonder if david is intentionally conducting himself in a way that tricks people into latching onto those eye catching spectacles.
there is no way this man is dumb enough to believe that everyone likes him and his policies. he's arrogant but he's not that dumb. and i'm sure he knows that he can leverage our hatred of him for his own gain.
i'm beginning to really believe that privatisation has been the goal from the start. it would be very easy. you simply implement a bunch of really shitty policies that fuck up the economy even more than it already was. you keep making shit worse on purpose until public services such as healthcare, ferries, social housing, all this shit is barely afloat. and right when it's about to go under, you sell it off to private firms for a cheap price. easy two step privatisation scheme. and all the while you distract everyone with unserious scandals like woke sushi and land rovers.
keep your eyes open for as long as these guys are in power. i do not trust these fuckers with anything. i'm very concerned that there's some major scheme in the works here that we're all falling victim to, something designed to strip us of public services. hell, even the fucking treaty principles bill could be a massive part of that scheme. look how massive a shitstorm that's caused; and rightly fucking so, anyone who messes with te tiriti needs to be held to account. but why the fuck is david so damn committed to this stupid fucking bill which he KNOWS will not and should not ever pass? (other than the fact that he'd a racist todger)
what else are they trying to distract us from seeing?
fight as many of these shitty bills as you can. regardless of whether it's all connected to a wider scheme or not, whether david is intentionally trying to distract us or not, whether i'm right or wrong, they still need to be fought. the economy is still being massacred regardless. bigotry is rampant among the elite. people are suffering. there's obvious government lobbying and corruption going on. we can't let anything slip under the radar.
and sweet fuck, i hope i'm just reading too far into things. if only so i don't have to give david the credit of being that intelligent ;-;

This is a picture from Stuff New Zealand (one of two major national newspapers), taken an hour ago. This is a kilometer from Parliament. At this point the Parliament grounds were already full. Can you see the front of the hikoi NO, can you see the back of the hikoi NO.
Current estimates range from 15,000 to 50,000 people. Our total population is 6 million and a lot of those are offshore (some of them are protesting in Sydney and London because a lot of us are there). This is potentially 1% of our ENTIRE in-country population. On a weekday. Turning out to protest David Seymour's stupid, divisive, ugly bill.
Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke just showed up with the Maaori Queen, Te Arikinui Kuini Nga wai hono i te po.
Fuck I wish I was there

New Zealand MPs disrupt parliament with haka to disrupt a vote on the controversial bill that would change the way in which the Treaty of Waitangi -- a 184-year-old treaty between the British Crown and Māori people -- is interpreted.

if you live in aotearoa NZ, or otherwise have some knowledge around what's currently happening here with the treaty principled bill, please consider making a submission opposing the treaty principles bill.
if you don't know, this is what the treaty principles bill will look like. the waitangi tribunal report is a good place to start as to what the bill would actually mean for aotearoa, and they have summaries so you don't have to read the whole thing to get the basics. here is the first summary, and the second.
submissions don't have to be long or fancy, even if all you can do is a short submission stating that you oppose this bill that's still helpful! the only thing is it can't be directly copy-pasted from someone else or it won't be counted. however there are some very helpful guides to help you make a submission:
from ngā haumi: guide/template - google doc
from koekoeā: explanation of process, what you need to know, and FAQs - PDF ; info on oral submissions - PDF, explanation of the origins and function of the treaty principles - instagram post
from te pāti māori: FAQs about submitting on this bill - instagram post
from the green party: general info - instagram post ; short guide based on how long you wanna spend on your submission - instagram post ; longer guide - website
from people against prisons aotearoa: generic guide to making select committee submissions (this is not a specific guide for this bill, however if you've never made a submission like this before it will likely give some helpful explanations!) - website
listening to speeches made by te pāti māori and green MPs on this bill may also be a helpful way to get ideas of what you may want to say! they often post speeches on their instagram accounts, and specifically i think this speech from chlöe swarbrick and this one from rawiri waitiri are really good.
submissions close on the 7th of january next year, so as of now (20th november) you have about seven weeks, however it's important to not forget, so i'd encourage people to do it now or set reminders! let's make sure the government knows that the opposition to this bill is strong!!
#if any of the links are wrong pls let me know!! i tried to make sure everything was right but may have messed something up#aotearoa#new zealand#nz politics#toitu te tiriti#te tiriti o waitangi#the treaty of waitangi#treaty principles bill

Yeah, I'm sure this wasn't a racial attack at all even though it's almost all in the clearly marked maori section of the Urupā and they destroyed maori symbols and set the Graves on fire and-

Also pretty minimal fucking coverage, I gotta say.
Image description: A maori news article by Kevin Mcdonald, titled- ""disgusted": māori Graves targeted by vandals at new zealand's oldest cemetery". It is accompanied by a photo showing the grave of the late Cameron Duncan, its koru headstone smashed to pieces.

Hello not at all my usual posting but please consider signing this petition - it applies in NZ but I believe you can sign from anywhere.
Destiny Church is a cult/hate group with charity status in Aotearoa New Zealand, meaning they do not have to pay tax, while being violent instigators of anti LGBT hatred. They recently attacked a ticketed drag event where they *assaulted a teenager*, as well as protesting the parade in Auckland. They are aggressive and violent, and incredibly controlling of members making it nearly impossible for anyone who questions the beliefs to leave.
Their actions have made many LGBT+ Aucklanders feel unsafe and it is clear they are likely to continue to target LGBT people and events.
Please consider signing this petition to strip them of their charity status. In having this, the NZ goverment is essentially cosigning their actions as well as allowing them access to more funds than they would have if they paid their fuckin taxes. Honestly they should be locked up but this is the bare minimum
I know most of my followers are probably US based and you guys have enough to worry about right now, but support is always appreciated 💞

I just saw the dumbest fucking video of all time.
There is currently a racist anti Māori bill which had its first reading the other day in parliment.
There has been so much opposition to it as it is anti Māori.
In parliament, a Māori MP, Hana Rawhiti, who is 22, ripped up the bill and started a Haka. I cannot put into words how amazing what she did was, and the fact that another member of Te Pati Māori called David Seymour, the person who proposed the bill a cunt. The Haka was beautiful and I hate how she has been suspended from parliment because of it.
Onto the video I saw.
Someone from the US, who is not Māori nor from New Zealand and has never met or spoken to any Māori before claimed that the reason why the ripping of the bill and the haka was done, is because they were inspired by the Palestinian cause.
And this just makes me sooooo mad. Like can't Māori do these frankly impressive acts of activism for their own rights without any other group being the cause?? Like Māori history is rife with actions like this against oppression. It's not something new to Māori.
Its just the absolute ignorance of Māori history and then claiming to care about Māori history and rights. This person doesn't truly care, they just care about furthering one cause.
And initially I was unsure if this next interpretation of what he said was correct or not as not all people who support Palestine support hamas. But I checked out his other videos and he called hamas a resistance group and supports them so I think this next bit is a far understanding of his words.
Hamas raped people. Your average Palestinian is not hamas. But comparing Māori to hamas, is fucked up. You are implying that Māori are on the same level as rapists and murders. Māori already have an unfairly high incarceration rate, and now you think it's okay to compare them to rapists and murderers???? Comparing them to your average Palestinian? Fine and okay. Comparing them to hamas? Fucked up and racist.

genuinely cannot believe that one of our navy ships is leaking oil into samoan waters and our government hasn't even done the bare minimum and apologised. meanwhile judith collins is selfishly using the sexist attacks on the commander of that ship and other woman in the navy as a personal shield, pointing fingers at other people to try and distract us from the faults of the nz government. they can't even be bothered keeping samoans informed about the situation, because who cares about civilians i guess? "100% Pure New Zealand", more like 100% Hypocritical. fuckwits.
samoans, i'm so sorry. i hate these fucks just as much as y'all do. i didn't vote for 'em last election and i won't be voting for them next election either. it was bad when we were the only people being hurt by their bullshit, but now they're hurting other nations as well and they couldn't care less. i'm fucking done with them. i don't know if there's anything i can do to help, but know when i cast my next vote that you guys will be on my mind the entire time.
