Like the problem with pushing the "positive thinking" CBT approach on everyone with mental health issues is that assuming that people are only suffering because of a completely irrational chemical imbalance or whatever is that we inevitably miss a big part of the context of why someone is struggling by assuming that it's just a matter of "thinking the wrong thoughts" and "feeling the wrong feelings" - a problem that can supposedly be straightforwardly solved by practicing "positive thinking". When actually the material circumstances of your life (are you being abused? coping with past trauma? living in poverty? isolated and lonely? hating your job? dealing with a distressing disability? facing bigotry and discrimination?) usually play a bigger role in your mental health and recovery than how hard you work at just repressing and replacing "negative thinking"

what can we even do now? i mean this seriously, i've been donating every month, i've boosted, i've tried to share the truth, but it just doesn't stop. what can we do? this is madness it's always been madness, it's inhumane, it's demonic. how can we save them?
you keep doing it. i know it's tough because what you're doing is long-term work in a short-term emergency. but it matters regardless. now is not the time to stop anything, it's the time to do as much as you can. i shared this screenshot before, but here it is again:
from the new yorker interview with james elder UNICEF chief. key part of this sentence: there is big international pressure and israel loosens controls
there has to be big international pressure. you are part of this. israel has spent 75 years becoming as resilient as possible to big international pressure. it takes an international outcry to let in a paltry can of baby formula. but without you doing what you've been doing, there won't be the pressure even for that. and i know you feel like you've been as present as possible, but actually i have noticed many people clocking out of thinking about palestine. i used to get 30, 40, 50k notes on posts about palestine. now i get around ten times less even though arguably far less people defend what israel is doing. that's less pressure on israel, and this is easy goals. bring those people back. keep palestine the topic of conversation.
so anything you do now to increase pressure is the most important thing you'll do today. and for everyone else reading this, don't forget to donate to the sameer project.

Happy disabled pride month to the undiagnosed. To those with no idea what it could be. To those who are pretty sure they know, but can't be certain yet. To those whose doctors are trying their best, and to those whose doctors aren't. To those with test results, and those without. To those whose prognosis isn't looking good. To those scared by the course of their symptoms, and with no idea what's going to happen next. Living undiagnosed is hard, and I wish you all luck.
#yaaay being underdiagnosed#like at the moment my maybe-right-maybe-wrong diagnosis are ME/CFS and POTS#cus POTS i have the HR jump for (well exceeding that criteria actually. 80bpm to 200bpm upon standing. not fun! but better with beta#blockers) but i never got a tilt table test or even a nasa lean test done by a doctor. my GP was just like#''okay'' when i suggested it? that GP was weird. so i know my HR goes high enough but haven't had other autonomic conditions ruled out.#and then ME/CFS is like. i meet diagnostic criteria i think but which symptoms are most prominent + how quickly i get PEM (within a few#minutes often or within an hour or two if it's not as intense) doesn't fit with typical ME patterns. oh and my weakness (my main symptom) is#impacting my breathing (waiting for spirometry to confirm but my peak flow readings are consistently Bad) which i don't Think is normal for#ME.it might be a thing with very severe ME cause that impacts like Everything and is often left out of studies because with how studies are#usually conducted its not accessible for people with very severe ME. but i am well below that level so ??#love diagnostic purgatory !!!! (<- sarcasm)#okay rant over.

there’s this extremely kind soul of a woman on instagram that makes accessible recipes that don’t require standing, chopping, or a stove and she might just have a permanent place in my heart

please donate to the sameer project, they're running out of money and losing traction. i gave $50 just now, if you have any money to spare please consider skipping the next online purchase or order-in food and donate, it's really simple and easy to do.
