So we all saw the MIT sukkah and how bad that was.
Are you ready for NYU’s?
Because not only is it bad, but the persons behind it are either Jews with no connection whatsoever to their culture and can’t be bothered to do a basic fact check or it’s goyim who can’t be bothered to do a basic fact check.

That’s right. It says “l’chaim intifada” on their post. Yes, the structure is made out of wood. Good job for not using an event tent as the base like MIT. But you've built it under a tree, a no-no, and just said “To life intifada” on your “solidarity” sukkah poster.
That’s as bad as the backwards Hebrew.
It’s a nonsense phrase and makes no sense.
So what else is in the post?

Points 1 through 3 are standard for these organizations. Others that have more experience regarding the legalities of these asks have broken down why it won't happen for 1 and 2.
Point 3 is just xenophobic and discriminatory, and shows the hypocrisy of these orgs. I hate whataboutisms, but this same academic boycott is not being held for other countries that have committed or are committing comparable or worse actions. I have not seen calls to boycott Russian, Chinese, or Iranian academics and condemn research alliances or remote campuses.
Why is it only Israel?
(we know why)
Points 4 and 5 are what we expect as well. But here's the thing. Point 4? So much research and innovation comes through military contracts and funding. Medical entomology alone is reliant on massive funding from the military and was actually established by the US Military as well. The break throughs in treatments for vectored diseases typically come from their projects.
This is going to piss people off. But cutting funding projects that are associated with our military industrial complex is actually really bad for innovation, research, and scientific advancement.
"They can get the funds elsewhere".
No the fuck they cannot. Tell me you know nothing about research in academia without telling me.
But sure, cut funding to things associated with the MI-complex. I'm sure the DHS and DOD projects that are working on medical innovations will definitely help "Free Palestine".
Point 5 states it is "No Normalization", but the text reads more that they want to undo the Find Out portion of the Fuck Around they've been doing all year. As well as redefine antisemitism the way they want so that their dog whistles can be allowed and then it gets to the normalization thing. Which is just a way of saying they don't want peace. I'm not surprised as normalization processes lead to peace, and these groups don't want that. We've seen them eschew peace repeatedly and endorse violence.
But they'll tell you they're a peace movement.
Point 6 is just odd to include. 1 through 5 are standard, but 6 gets into the academic pay scale and structure and that just feels tacked on. It's trying to put a rider to ban abortion at the back end of the agricultural bill. It's trying to say "while I have you attention, also this."
I'll be the first one to say the academic pay structure is fucked and needs to be overhauled (The Cali University system has had multiple protests because Professors can't afford to even live in the cities they teach in). But putting pay structure issues onto this is just "everything relates to Gaza!" nonsense. We've seen countless occurrences of these activists trying to link any and every movement and concern to I/P throughout the year and it's just ridiculous.
Also note the text "expanding further into the city and across the globe" makes it seem like they view the university they are attending as a colonizer as well. If such is the case, and they're against colonization as vehemently as they attest to, then why are they still attending as their tuition is funding colonization? Yes, this is a "why don't you leave" argument, but they have the option to drop out or transfer. It's not leaving the USA, it's leaving or changing schools (and that's much more doable).
Point 7 isn't really a point. It's the same thing we've seen from anti-Israel groups across college campuses in the USA a long time. The problem is that they deny Zionism/Zionist has become a major dog whistle that has a history of being one ever since the Soviet era. Is every instance of anti-Zionism antisemitism? Of course not. But because major antisemitism groups, militias, and governments have used it for decades as a cover it is often viewed as such.
There's no denying that.
The problem is that you have college kids who are earnest in their beliefs that they don't see how they're being manipulated to use said dog whistles. It's especially worse when it comes to anti-Zionist Jews because they will say/endorse absolutely horrendous antisemitic rhetoric while justifying it through "Don't worry, I'm a Jew".
Unfortunately the sukkah they've built and the "L'chaim Intifada" brings in to question how Jewish they are. Even secular Jews would know that L'chaim means "To Life" by simply existing within our culture. So they're either extremely detached and didn't fact check, they're religious Jews who don't know enough Hebrew and didn't fact check, or they're goyim who are cosplaying as Jews and didn't fact check.
Initially I was leaning towards the detached as being behind this as I personally know several detached Jews who are using their ethnicity to defend antisemitism in NYC and by these groups. And because this is NYU it's more than likely that detached Leftist Jews are behind this with support from goyim than simply goyim alone. Which shows how little is know of our culture in general and means they really shouldn't be relied upon as arbiters of what is offensive to Jews and what isn't.
However, there is nothing Jewish about what they post. They even have photos of them in the sukkah and there's not a single kippah in sight. It's all keffiyehs. You'd think that if they wanted to show solidarity there'd be some variation in garb. You'd think that if they wanted to show that Jewish religious traditions and culture are welcoming that you'd have some visibly Jewish persons in your sukkah sitting side by side with keffiyeh wearing activists in this "solidarity sukkah"
But there's not.
Now this isn't to say I know who is behind this group, who the members are, or what the agenda is.
But this organization has only existed since November 2023, regularly cross posts with NYU SJP, and endorsed/justified 10/7 as well as the anniversary events celebrating it.
Come to your own conclusions as you will, but I know what I think.

A question about protest safety
I heard people shouldn’t wear contact lenses to protests because pepper spray and tear gas. So it’s better to wear glasses, but won’t you damage and injure your face far easier? And some people are practically blind without their glasses what if they lose them?

Columbia University is in shambles.
How much longer until other universities fall? Let’s check in on them.
Right now I have UCLA, Northwestern, Portland State, NYU, University of Washington, Penn State, UNC, and CUNY.
UCLA
A parent released audio of a phone call with the UCLA Police Department.
@UCLA gave permission to release this audio of her phone call with @UCLAPD as they describe the school's directive to allow protestors to restrict the movement of Jewish students. "Are the protestors allowed to block students who are paying tuition from classes? No, but unfortunately, they have taken over that area." "We've received a directive not to intervene" "So you're allowing the protestors to block the Jewish students?" "I'm not allowing it... the school is. Yes, the school is saying that they will not be removed at this time."
The school doesn’t care that these people block Jewish students from classes.
We have videos of these people blocking Jews from campus and the library. We have videos of these people assaulting Jews.
Lots of videos of campus anti-Jewish insanity here at Legal Insurrection.

feel like i haven't been seeing a ton of updates on the student encampments on my dash, so here's some:
breaking news (as of may 1st 2024): nyc police have used force to arrest and remove columbia protestors, and zionists have violently attacked UCLA's encampment.
just from looking at the news tab for student encampments and scanning the names: there are encampments at UCLA, University of Florida, Harvard, UChicago, Tufts, Tulane, UT-Austin, UPenn, Swarthmore, Bryn Mawr, UW-Miwaukee and Madison, University of Illinois, University of Minnesota, University of Washington, DePaul, George Washington University, University of Utah, and University of Ottawa. also: MIT, Emerson, NYU, and UNC-Chapel Hill (although that last was recently violently cleared by police, who arrested numerous students, though they were largely released after being cited for trespassing. UT Austin has also had arrests and detainments, and students are still in jail.)
brown has successfully reached an agreement! the college has agreed to put a divestment resolution up for vote at the financial meeting, and agreed that students who participated in the encampment will not be subject to severe disciplinary responses like suspension or expulsion.
evergreen has successfully reached an agreement as well! evergreen college is divesting from israel, ending study abroad to occupied palestine, and adding resources/personnel to respond to medical emergencies instead of police!
as many encampments begin to move into the seventh or eighth days of presence, many colleges and universities are beginning to take the protests more seriously and threaten suspensions, expulsions, or even police violence. in light of both the news at columbia and at brown, i hope that they can see that enacting violence against the student protestors will put them firmly on the wrong side of history, and that it'll be much better for them if they meet our demands.
oh, also: jvp and sjp have called for a strike on may 1st, as it is international worker's day, in solidarity with palestine. in light of this, many students are not attending class.
#wow look something original!!#news#student encampments#palestine#kind of scary i do not usually make news posts. if i get something wrong please do not stone me in the town square#i'll try to keep this updated but i may not be able to as i am also a student trying to get finals done while participating in the protests

Most NYU arrested protesters were not students–could the Biden Administration Gaza plan cause terrorism within the USA?
@bible-news-prophecy-radio
Although the media has mainly pointed to student anti-Israel protesters, some have suspected that many outside agitators were involved. Apparently quite a few:
NYU: Over Half Arrested for Anti-Israel Protests Not Tied to School
May 2, 2024
Less than half of the pro-Palestine protesters arrested at New York University last week after refusing to vacate the campus were members of the academic institution, the university said on Wednesday.
Of the 133 protesters arrested on April 22 at Gould Plaza on campus, 65 were students, faculty or other employees of NYU, located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood on the west side of lower Manhattan. …
At Columbia University in northern Manhattan’s Morningside Heights neighborhood, Hamas supporters who were not students or staff were involved in violent protests, according to the city’s mayor.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, speaking on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday, revealed that “outside agitators,” including one whose husband was convicted for terrorism, played a key role in the anti-Israel protests at Columbia. https://www.newsmax.com/us/nyu-pro-palestine-protests/2024/05/02/id/1163192/
Unmask the Death-To-America Rioters
May 1, 2024
I realize that masks are de rigueur for rioters. Combined with an oversized keffiyeh they offer anonymity to the Hamas and Hezbollah wannabes. Take a gander at any footage from the nationwide campus protests and most of the anti-semites are wearing masks. https://www.baconsrebellion.com/wp/unmask-the-death-to-america-rioters/
The Anti-Israel Protests Are Being Organized By Paid Professional Agitators And Are Being Funded By The Usual Suspects
May 1, 2024
If you actually believe that it is just a “coincidence” that anti-Israel protests have “spontaneously” erupted at dozens of colleges and universities all over the nation, you are just being delusional. … these protests are being organized by paid professional agitators, and they are being funded by the same far left sources that have funded other radical protest movements in the past. …
New York City Mayor Eric Adams is a far left mayor in a far left city, and even he is admitting that there were “professionals” involved in the chaos that we just witnessed at Columbia University…
There were individuals on the campus who should not have been there. They were people who are professionals and we saw evidence of training,” Adams said. …
“This is a global problem that young people are being influenced by those who are professionals at radicalizing our children and I’m not going to allow that to happen as the mayor of the city of New York.”
Mayor Adams says that Lisa Fithian, who is considered to be “the nation’s best-known protest consultant”, was directly involved with what was going on at Columbia…
In addition, it is being reported that three groups that are heavily funded by George Soros “set up the tent city on Columbia’s lawn”…
The cash from Soros and his acolytes has been critical to the Columbia protests that set off the national copycat demonstrations.
Three groups set up the tent city on Columbia’s lawn last Wednesday: Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Within Our Lifetime. …
And the SJP has had a hand in initiating similar operations at other colleges and universities all over the United States…
Copycat tent cities have been set up at colleges including Harvard, Yale, Berkeley in California, the Ohio State University and Emory in Georgia — all of them organized by branches of the Soros-funded Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) — and at some, students have clashed with police.
The SJP parent organization has been funded by a network of nonprofits ultimately funded by, among others, Soros, the billionaire left-wing investor. …
The violence at UCLA is particularly disturbing. …
This is complete and utter lawlessness.
And if they get away with it there, paid agitators will try the same thing at other colleges and universities. …
One of the primary goals of these protests is to get attention, and the mainstream media has been giving them plenty of it.
Unfortunately, I believe that this is just the beginning.
I am entirely convinced that global events will soon spiral completely out of control, and that will provide plenty of fuel for more nationwide protests. https://endoftheamericandream.com/the-anti-israel-protests-are-being-organized-by-paid-professional-agitators-and-are-being-funded-by-the-usual-suspects/
Yes, the matters in the USA will get worse. Not necessarily immediately, but ultimately yes.
And, it appears that in addition to multiple millions of people entering the USA illegally the past few years, the Biden Administration is working on giving permanent residence to many from Gaza. CBS reported:
April 30, 2024
The Biden administration is considering bringing certain Palestinians to the U.S. as refugees, a move that would offer a permanent safe haven to some of those fleeing war-torn Gaza, according to internal federal government documents obtained by CBS News.
In recent weeks, the documents show, senior officials across several federal U.S. agencies have discussed the practicality of different options to resettle Palestinians from Gaza who have immediate family members who are American citizens or permanent residents.
One of those proposals involves using the decades-old United States Refugee Admissions Program to welcome Palestinians with U.S. ties who have managed to escape Gaza and enter neighboring Egypt, according to the inter-agency planning documents. …
Those who pass a series of eligibility, medical and security screenings would qualify to fly to the U.S. with refugee status, which offers beneficiaries permanent residency, resettlement benefits like housing assistance and a path to American citizenship. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/palestinian-refugees-us-gaza-white-house/
If they are screened, what’s the risk?
Well, the vast majority in Gaza support Hamas and hate the USA. As far as supporting Hamas goes, notice the following:
A new poll released by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research finds … the percentage who believe the terror group’s October 7 onslaught was “correct” is virtually unchanged.
According to the survey, 71% of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank back the October 7 massacres in which in terrorists killed some 1,200 people and kidnapped 253 others, 03/20/24 https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/poll-over-70-palestinians-still-maintain-hamas-correct-to-commit-oct-7-atrocities/
Here is some information about Hamas’ official goals:
THE COVENANT OF THE HAMAS – MAIN POINTS . . .Goals of the HAMAS: —————— ‘The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinguished Palestinian movement, whose allegiance is to Allah, and whose way of life is Islam. It strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine.’ (Article 6) On the Destruction of Israel: —————————– ‘Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.’ (Preamble) The Exclusive Moslem Nature of the Area: —————————————- ‘The land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf [Holy Possession] consecrated for future Moslem generations until Judgment Day. No one can renounce it or any part, or abandon it or any part of it.’ (Article 11) ‘Palestine is an Islamic land… Since this is the case, the Liberation of Palestine is an individual duty for every Moslem wherever he may be.’ (Article 13) The Call to Jihad: —————— ‘The day the enemies usurp part of Moslem land, Jihad becomes the individual duty of every Moslem. In the face of the Jews’ usurpation, it is compulsory that the banner of Jihad be raised.’ (Article 15) ‘Ranks will close, fighters joining other fighters, and masses everywhere in the Islamic world will come forward in response to the call of duty, loudly proclaiming: ‘Hail to Jihad!’. This cry will reach the heavens and will go on being resounded until liberation is achieved, the invaders vanquished and Allah’s victory comes about.’ (Article 33) Rejection of a Negotiated Peace Settlement: ——————————————- ‘[Peace] initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement… Those conferences are no more than a means to appoint the infidels as arbitrators in the lands of Islam… There is no solution for the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are but a waste of time, an exercise in futility.’ (Article 13) Condemnation of the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty: ———————————————- ‘Egypt was, to a great extent, removed from the circle of struggle [against Zionism] through the treacherous Camp David Agreement. The Zionists are trying to draw other Arab countries into Similar agreements in order to bring them outside the circle of struggle. … Leaving the circle of struggle against Zionism is high treason, and cursed be he who perpetrates such an act.’ (Article 32) . . . ‘The HAMAS regards itself the spearhead and the vanguard of the circle of struggle against World Zionism… Islamic groups all over the Arab world should also do the same, since they are best equipped for their future role in the fight against the warmongering Jews.’ (Article 32)
Hamas has more goals, but the above ones give an idea of what it has intended to be about. Hamas is an Islamic organization and has no interest with peace with Israel, nor with the USA. The slogan “Death to America” has been repeated at various anti-Israel protests this past week or so.
Notice also the following:
Should Biden Bring Refugees From Gaza To The US?
May 2, 2024
With violent confrontations on liberal campuses, the Biden administration is considering bringing refugees from Gaza to the U.S. This move could provide a haven but also risks escalating tensions similar to those of the 2020 summer of violence. … the U.S. plans could provide a crucial escape route for some Palestinians fleeing the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, …
Critics also point out that this is the same administration that, in the past two years, has allowed over 20 million undocumented immigrants into the country, …
Given this context, it is not surprising that Biden, who seeks to retain the support of the ultra-left progressive wing of the Democratic Party, might use this proposal to win votes. This wing has shown sympathy for Hamas, and their support could be crucial in the upcoming election. …
Biden will likely proceed with his plan, even though the U.S. is considering accepting refugees from Gaza when no Arab nation has done so. https://greatgameindia.com/should-biden-bring-refugees-from-gaza-to-the-us/
This is dangerous.
Back in 2014, I posted the following:
As far as the Bible, the Palestinians, and Gaza goes, there are several prophecies that discuss what will happen.
According to a prophecy in the Book of Isaiah, the Palestinians (biblically referred to as Philistines), apparently along with some Syrians, are prophesied to be involved in war:
8 The Lord sent a word against Jacob, And it has fallen on Israel. 9 All the people will know — Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria — Who say in pride and arrogance of heart: 10 ‘The bricks have fallen down, But we will rebuild with hewn stones; The sycamores are cut down, But we will replace them with cedars.” 11 Therefore the Lord shall set up The adversaries of Rezin against him, And spur his enemies on, 12 The Syrians before and the Philistines behind; And they shall devour Israel with an open mouth. (Isaiah 9:8-12)
Since the above prophecy involves Ephraim and Samaria, this is indicative that the UK and USA will themselves be attacked (see Anglo – America in Prophecy & the Lost Tribes of Israel), apparently including terroristic tactics (hitting them before and behind). Hamas has used terrorism in the past and is expected to do so in the future. (Thiel B. Fighting stops and starts: What is ahead for Gaza? COGwriter, July 27, 2014)
Isaiah 9:12 is a prophecy that points to terrorism hitting the USA and its British-descended allies by people from Syria and Palestine. The USA, Canada, and UK brought in many Syrian refugees, along with some Palestinian ones since I wrote the above. Now, the USA is looking to bring in more.
Realize that the Bible shows that terrorism is prophesied:
14 ‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, 15 and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, 16 I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. 17 I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you. (Leviticus 26:14-17)
25 The sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within (Deuteronomy 32:25)
12 “Cry and wail, son of man; For it will be against My people, Against all the princes of Israel. Terrors including the sword will be against My people; Therefore strike your thigh. (Ezekiel 21:12)
12 Behold, these are the ungodly,Who are always at ease; They increase in riches…19 Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. (Psalms 73:12,19)
25 Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke, 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, 27 When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. (Proverbs 1:25-27)
5 Also they are afraid of height, And of terrors in the way (Ecclesiastes 12:5).
Let me also add that according to the 83rd Psalm, a confederation against the USA, its Anglo-Saxon-Celtic allies, and Israel involving Arab and European forces is coming (Psalm 83). And I have long believed that terrorism will have to be part of this.
Related to Gaza, we also have the following related video:

Gaza and Bible Prophecy
Israeli officials such as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have claimed that all those in Hamas will be killed or eliminated. Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen added that the plan is to make Gaza shrink. Where do those of Gaza and other Palestinians come from? Does the Bible show historical animosities between the descendants of Israel and those of the Gazans and the Palestinians? What does the Bible show that Gaza and Hamas mean? Do biblical prophecies in Amos and Jeremiah point to Gaza ending up with territories that Israel now controls? Can Israel lose territory? Will Hamas achieve some of its objectives? What does the 83rd Psalm prophesy? Might terrorism be involved? Steve Dupuie and Dr. Thiel address these issues.
Here is a link to our video: Gaza and Bible Prophecy.
Despite how things may look now, Israel will lose territory to the Palestinians, including the Gazans.
While there are humanitarian reasons to allow Gazans into the USA, the USA will end up with more terrorism.

The Federal Department of Education said its Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is investigating an April complaint by Adela Cojab, 22, an NYU senior, that Students for Justice in Palestine, an on-campus pro-Palestinian group, has created a “hostile atmosphere” for Jewish students, and that NYU has allowed “extreme anti-Semitism” to proliferate.
On Wednesday, the Department of Education notified Cojab’s attorneys that it had opened a full-scale investigation into her allegations.
The initial complaint said that “SJP is a radical organization affiliated with terror groups, bent on adopting a policy of anti-normalization of Jewish groups, and on isolating, demonizing and ultimately destroying the Jewish state.” It also suggested SJP “serves as the leading student arm of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement in the United States.”

by Justin Feldman
As a Jewish student leader at NYU, the widely-viewed House Committee hearing on campus antisemitism last month moved me and articulated the isolation that my Jewish peers and I have been experiencing, simply for partaking in higher education as Jews. From the barring of Rachel Beyda from student government at UCLA in 2015, to Jewish students being removed from a sexual assault survivors organization at SUNY New Paltz in 2022, to last month’s testimonies of exclusion, this discriminatory pattern has proven potent. I’ve unfortunately been no exception.
During the same period President Liz Magill of Penn and President Claudine Gay of Harvard yielded to pressure to resign for their comments on campus “call(s) for Jewish genocide”, I was sent a “Vote to Dismiss and Terminate Position” email, as a Student Justice for New York University’s Graduate Student Council (GSC). My student council president was calling to remove me, one of the only Jewish students in NYU’s student government.

Fabricated “technicalities” brought in bad faith were invoked to falsely accuse me of the unauthorized use of GSC’s name in my resolution, even though my use of the GSC name was solely used as an identifier for my position. I was clear that I was not claiming to speak for anyone but myself and the resolution’s cosponsors.
The true, underlying reason that prompted my removal was that my resolution, which defined and “condemned the endorsement, promotion, or excusing of civilian murder (terrorism) in academia”, undermined the expressions — and by relation the stature — of a number of our radical student senators and their pro-Hamas student backers. In particular, my resolution cited famous justifications, praises, and denials of the October 7th Hamas terrorist attacks by unnamed faculty, student leaders, and student organizations.
Yet, despite indirectly implicating the aforementioned pro-Hamas groups and individuals like the Faculty/Students for Justice in Palestine (FJP/SJP), the resolution also included condemnations of both recent Islamophobic and antisemitic hate crimes and proposed universally beneficial safety measures on hate crime reporting and transparency on free speech.
Not only were these reforms voted down in early stages, contrary to various antisemitic resolutions that passed. I was also singled out by my council president for removal weeks later – simply for voicing opposition to extremist support for terror on campus.

A comparison of articles on “removal” of councilmembers, from the publicly available NYU GSAS GSC Constitution & Bylaws, ratified Spring 2020 (left), and the NYU GSAS GSC Constitution and Bylaws, secretly modified and never voted on for ratification – uploaded to the GSC Drive on December 10, 2023 (right).
Despite notifying administrators and our SGA Elections Commission officials in advance of these offenses, no actions were taken to prevent this inconsistent and discriminatory vote from being carried out. I was removed by less than half of the attending councilmembers.
Unlike Dr. Gay and Dr. Magill, I was not accused of dehumanizing any group, nor subjecting certain people to visible double standards. I, myself, became the target of clear double standards for humanizing myself and my Jewish community amid the backdrop of peers chanting for the very genocidal rhetoric that these former administrators failed to distinguish as violatory.
But sounding this alarm about NYU isn’t just about me, or the brutal and carefully planned murder, rape, and kidnapping of over a thousand Israeli Jewish and Arab citizens. As I stated in my last GSC meeting before being voted out by less than half of our attending council: the October 7th terror attacks targeted citizens of more than 40 different countries across continents that came to Israel.
At NYU, an elite institution with an abundance of global campuses and students attending from all over the world, I could not fathom how so many in my student council – including students from affected countries – could downplay the effect that this moral collapse had on our physical safety.
I witnessed the consequences of unchecked sympathy for terror firsthand. In November at NYU’s Bobst Library, I saw the aftermath of an antisemitic hate crime in real time, where a Jewish student was called slurs and physically assaulted for wearing Israeli and American flags in NYU’s Bobst Library. Security personnel did nothing for minutes on end. The perpetrator was eventually detained by NYPD and released hours later – photographed entering the same library the very next day.
In Washington Square Park, Jewish students (including myself) were physically threatened by an inebriated man multiple times over the course of months, calling us “animals”, saying “f*** all you Jews”, spitting, and threatening physical attack. Many of us were just wearing a kippah or a Magen David necklace around campus.
These examples are drops in the ocean in the vast record of hate crimes that Jewish-Americans disproportionately face, compared to any other minority group per capita in the U.S. and beyond.
As we saw in the case of Liz Magill and Claudine Gay’s resignations, what campus antisemitism reveals is the underlying moral failure of our elite institutions (and society) to equally enforce many things: free speech, fair admissions, transparent financing, just hiring practices, and accountable student conduct.
What my story of removal from NYU’s Graduate Student Council also illuminates is that this fight is just as much a battle to restore my generation’s recognition of a “shared humanity” – including Jewish humanity – as it is a battle to save liberal values in higher education and our country.

NYU president Hamilton – Is this how you support justice?
SJP has worked immensely hard each year to demonstrate their anti-Israel hatred, sometimes even violently, in more ways than one. NYU president Hamilton – Is this how you support justice? published first on https://sex777blog.tumblr.com/

New York University School of Law may be legally obligated to punish some of its star students after nearly a dozen student groups signed a statement that defended terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians and bemoaned the "Zionist grip on the media."
The statement, drafted by NYU Law School’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, has elicited harassment complaints from Jewish students who say that the letter—and some of the responses it sparked from students—constituted vicious anti-Semitic attacks.
"The Zionist grip on the media is omnipresent," the statement read. "Palestinians are not obligated to engage in racialized ‘nonviolence’ theory and wait around for a United Nations action that will never come as their homes are taken from them."
Several students who signed and organized the statement are attending the law school on scholarship as part of the Root-Tilden-Kern Program, widely considered the most prestigious public interest law scholarship in the country. The scholarship’s winners have gone on to hold federal office: They include Lamar Alexander, a U.S. senator and former secretary of education, and Jenny Yang, who served as chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission during former president Barack Obama’s second term.
Current scholars include Zaynab Said, who signed on behalf of NYU’s Black Allied Law Students Association; Maya Goldman, who signed on behalf of the Disablility Allied Law Students Association; Yosmin Badie, who sits on the board of NYU's Students for Justice in Palestine; and Allison Hrabar, who signed with the valediction, "from the river to the sea"—a call for the elimination of Israel.
NYU may have no choice but to punish these students because the university in 2020 agreed to adopt a zero-tolerance policy toward anti-Semitism as part of a settlement with the Department of Education’s civil rights office, which was investigating a string of anti-Semitic incidents at the elite scool. The agreement obligates NYU to "take all necessary actions, including pursuant to its student discipline process," to address anti-Semitism on campus. Should the Biden administration decide to enforce the terms of that agreement, inaction could jeopardize NYU’s federal funding under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
The law school told students on Tuesday that it was investigating the harassment complaints "as required by our policies." But some students doubt the investigation will amount to much.

Alumni and faculty members of New York University’s School of Medicine called on President Andrew Hamilton to combat a “climate of anti-Semitism at NYU that creates a hostile environment for Jewish students, prevents honest discourse and limits academic freedom on our campus.”
The letter, which attracted more than 140 signatories as of Wednesday afternoon, warned that “anti-Semitism has been normalized on our campus” in recent months.
“Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), an organization that has become a symbol for anti-Israel and anti-Semitic hatred, was awarded the highest honor of any organization at NYU, the President’s Service Award,” the letter read.
SJP has faced criticism for spearheading the passage of a student government resolution in December endorsing the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) campaign, which has been denounced by top Jewish groups in the US and globally, and leading an earlier boycott of Zionist student clubs, all Israeli goods and universities, and the Anti-Defamation League. Last year, while participating in a protest that saw two of its members arrested and accused of physical assault, SJP’s president said the group sought “to make being Zionist uncomfortable on the NYU campus.”

Academic Hypocrisy in the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Like many US universities, New York University is having to deal with anti-Semitism on its campus, thanks as always, to the actions of the pro-Palestinian forces and their academic enablers. It has just been announced that there will be a federal investigation into allegations of campus anti-Semitism at NYU. Recently, a university department sponsored a speech at NYU by Noura Erakat, a well-known anti-Israel activist. In response, some Jewish students asked the department of Asian American Studies when they would host a speaker with pro-Israel views in order to balance the discussion. The answer was “Never”. I am cross-posting an article on the issue by United with Israel. This, of course, reminds me of similar experiences I have had in attending such events, which are all the rage on American university campuses. Not only groups like the Muslim Student Association and Students for Justice in Palestine routinely sponsor speakers like Erakat, they are often invited by university departments lending their imprimatur to the Palestinian narrative. As a part-time teacher at the UC Irvine Extension from 1998-2016, I became involved in following such events on that campus as well as others. In September of this year, I attended an event at UC Irvine in which the featured speaker was Lila Adib Sharif of the University of Illinois. Her apperance was sponsored by the Department of International and Global Studies, School of Social Sciences. You can read above what happened during the q and a when I asked the sponosors when and if they might hold an event featuring a pro-Israel speaker. This was also similar to an event I attended at UC Riverside in 2014 sponsored by the Humanities Department and Ethnic Studies featuring BDS co-founder Omar Barghouti. I asked the same question. Only this time, departmental chair David Lloyd, a prominent BDS activist, told me my question was “preposterous”.This points to an important point. If pro-Israel speakers expect to be invited to a university campus to defend the Jewish state, it pretty much has to be at the invitation of student groups like Students Supporting Israel or the College Republicans. Even then they can expect to be disrupted by SJP/MSA students or off-campus radicals. University departments prefer to expose their students and the public to anti-Israel speakers like Erakat and Barghouti. In fairness, I should point out that in 2010, the UC Irvine Law School and Political Science Department joined with Jewish groups to host Michael Oren, the then-Israeli ambassador to the US. The results were disasterous as the speech was repeatedly disrupted by the campus Muslim Student Union. Eleven arrests were made. I was present and reported on it.Perhaps that incident set the template for universities all over the nation as to why they think they should avoid pro-Israel events since they are going to be disrupted. If that is even part of the rationale, then universities are guilty of cowardice in caving in to the mobs. I suspect, however, that the real reason is that these departments tend to be sympathetic to the Palestinian narrative. That means they are guilty of betraying the fundamental purpose of the university-to expose students to differing points of view on topics. New York University has failed the test. Putting together an event dedicated to the study of anti-Semitism (and Islamophobia) hardly corrects the problem. Perhaps, they might look at their own role in helping to create an atmosphere of anti-Semitism on their own campus.
