I need to share how the IT guy at work greeted my department on CrowdStrike Blue Screen Friday. Never have I seen a man so shocked by the sight of perfectly functional computers
(They were off during the update)

EVERYONE SHUT THE FUCK UP AND READ THIS.
THE CURRENT VOTE COUNT IS NOT THE FINAL RESULT.
IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL DAYS TO COUNT ALL OF THE VOTES AND DETERMINE WHO WINS THE ELECTION (POSSIBLY MORE IF A RECOUNT IS NECESSARY).
IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT THE FINAL RESULTS WILL NOT LOOK LIKE THE INITIAL RESULTS.
STOP DOOMPOSTING AND LEARN HOW THIS SHIT WORKS.

This is exactly why fat-shaming is not only cruel and discriminatory but useless as a way to encourage health-promoting behaviour.
Sorta gives away the fact that this isn’t about health at all, it’s about fatphobia.
(Also you can’t tell if someone is healthy by the size of their body, and health is not a moral imperative).
Sorry OP for hijacking your post to rant about one of my bugbears!
Not that anybody asked, but I think it's important to understand how shame and guilt actually work before you try to use it for good.
It's a necessary emotion. There are reasons we have it. It makes everything so. much. worse. when you use it wrong.
Shame and guilt are DE-motivators. They are meant to stop behavior, not promote it. You cannot, ever, in any meaningful way, guilt someone into doing good. You can only shame them into not doing bad.
Let's say you're a parent and your kid is having issues.
Swearing in class? Shame could work. You want them to stop it. Keep it in proportion*, and it might help. *(KEEP IT IN PROPORTION!!!)
Not doing their homework? NO! STOP! NO NOT DO THAT! EVER! EVER! EVER! You want them to start to do their homework. Shaming them will have to opposite effect! You have demotivated them! They will double down on NOT doing it. Not because they are being oppositional, but because that's what shame does!
You can't guilt people into building better habits, being more successful, or getting more involved. That requires encouragement. You need to motivate for that stuff!
If you want it in a simple phrase:
You can shame someone out of being a bad person, but you can't shame them into being a good person.

love triangle to ot3 not as in "i just think these characters should kiss" but as in there is a special bond between two people who love the same person more than themselves, more than anything else and eventually the rage and possessiveness will evaporate, you can't be scared and snarling forever, and when it does they will be left with the understanding that this is maybe the only person on earth who gets it. who gets what it means to be utterly consumed by this person, to love them so much you would open a vein at their request. this person, your "rival" perhaps understands you more than even the object of your affection. they have felt the same longing and the same fear and the same anger and the same desperation as you. they will go to the same lengths to keep your mutual beloved safe. and isn't that a little bit like looking in a mirror. isn't that a little bit like love.

FYI (to whoever sees this) if the situation in Bangladesh is described as "Quota Protest Gone Violent," and you find yourself wondering why the entire country imploded with violence and rage over that and a few ill-advised name-calling from the PM, just know that is not the whole story.
There is a decade and a half of grievances littered with disappearances, killings, disproportionate violence towards people, unfair systems, CorruptionTM, etc etc. There were very few parts of our lives as Bangladeshi citizens that were untouched from the lurking, cloying darkness of the government's incompetence and corruption, and this is not to mention the treatment of ethnic minorities.
I have never seen chaos of this scale in Bangladesh before, and even my parents are saying this is shocking to them as well. But this doesn't mean that Bangladesh didn't have chaos before, that it was all well and peaceful before. It never was. There were kids, elementary school kids, getting beaten up in 2018 when the police and Chhatra League went Batshit InsaneTM during peaceful protesting for Road Safety in Bangladesh. There were deaths then as well. It wasn't unthinkable for someone to be in fear for their and their family's safety should they speak out against the government in any significant way. You get tired of hearing about it, you get desensitized. But you never forget.
To reduce what's happening just down to the Quota Movement feels like a nice way of portraying the protesters as too violent and too vehement, specially when added with the news that the protesters refused to sit and Have A Chat with the same authority figures that are responsible for their comrades' deaths, authority figures that didn't bother to listen before deploying violence on peaceful protests, that never listened before properly. It almost feels like propaganda, which you are not immune to.

I worked out a deal with my little sister, so she'll make periodic posts for me while I'm gone. This will include updates on my wellbeing as well as rants about her life and interests: her music (she plays cello, guitar, piano, violin, and Appalachian dulcimer), other people's music, anime, school, friendships, our parents, etc.
My parents maintain ongoing conversations about social media and its use in our household, but my sister has opted to go without altogether, so she's going to make these posts and dip. She won't respond to - or even see - your replies/reblogs/asks/etc.
Real human Sophie is going to an anxiety rehabilitation center without her phone for 45 days, thus, Tumblr user sopheadraws will be in stasis for 45 days.
(This is a positive development btw! Yay mental health treatment!)
Edit: There isn't actually a set time. Forty-five days was an estimate from the center because the average patient is there between one to three months. Tumblr user sopheadraws's stasis is of undetermined length.
