𝐣𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡?
zoro x gn!reader // sfw! we've all seen reader walking in on zoro and hiyori, but what if zoro stumbles upon you with someone else? it's just a big misunderstaning, of course!
𝐙𝐎𝐑𝐎'𝐒 cheeks are colored a light pink, bordering on red as the icy wind continues to relentlessly nip on them. the snow isn’t a problem, thick, powdery, yielding for each rhythmic movement of his strong legs.
it’s early, much too early, and he should be on the ship just like he was commanded to do, but when does he ever comply?
no, he wouldn’t be staying on the ship, not when he knew you were out here somewhere on this frozen waste of an island. zoro doesn’t often kick himself, taking things as they come, but he feels it’s his personal responsibility to go after you.
a part of him isn’t quite sure what had happened the day prior.
the crew was together, united, exploring the island when the peace was disrupted by an ambush from some not so friendly inhabitants. it wasn’t a problem, shouldn’t have been a problem, but when the snow cleared, when the last of the flurries were blown away, you were gone.
not only were you the closest one to him, but he prided himself on being the protector, the man who safeguards his crew mates.
zoro walks along, his green hair sticking out amidst the snow white landscape. he scoffs, looking all over. had he came around here already? he doesn’t know, but he looks up toward the sky, nose wrinkling as a few flakes melt into his skin.
his body knows before his brain, his steps coming to a halt before he takes a last minute turn toward the east. instinct; it’s all instinct, his good eye honing in on a structure just beyond a few trees. he’s found what he’s been looking for and he knows it.
the scent of pine gives way to something smoky as he trudges closer, one of his hands wrapping around his wado. there’s hints of alcohol, the medical kind, and alcohol, the drinking kind, but more than that- there’s you.
old wooden steps creak as he makes his way toward the entrance of a worn down cabin, his muscles tense, ready for action. it’s quiet inside, much too quiet, yet he doesn’t bother concealing his own presence. the door opens, hitting the wall, and he steps inside, the light from a nearby window illuminating all.
he’s prepared to see you, knows you’re here. would you be starved and injured? frightened and in need of help? he takes his role as a pillar, but this isn’t what he expects to see.
you don’t look like you need help, that’s for damn sure. thick blankets shield your form from the morning chill, but so do a strong pair of arms. who the hell is that laying next to you? why are you letting him so close?
"eh?" he finds himself saying, keeping his sword pointed and ready for action.
zoro doesn't recognize the man beside you, enveloping you in a safe embrace. it's...surprisingly irritating and he doesn't know why, but he has enough mind to place his wado back into it's sheath.
those damn arms tighten around you and zoro decides he's had enough. "oi," he calls, crossing his arms, taking another step toward you. "what the hell is this? get. up."
beneath the blankets, you and your partner huddle a bit closer. and when you stir, letting out a soft, sleepy grunt, your new companion opens his eyes and tenses, ready to protect you.
oh, how it makes the marimo's eye twitch. doesn't this guy know that zoro should be protecting you? it's made even worse when you hold the man a little tighter, your eyes just barely starting to open.
"watch it." the swordsman growls, not trusting this man one single bit.
zoro says your name again, more firm, a little more demanding of your attention. for a moment it sounds like he's scolding you, clearly not approving of this whole situation.
it's only when you fully wake that you sit up, then the swordsman silently thanks the stars above. he relaxes once you shake yourself from the stranger's hold, a relieved smile on your face.
his protective instincts swell, a certain satisfaction filling him as you scoot away from the man.
"zoro!" you tug the blankets off and the marimo tenses again. bandages are snuggly wrapped around your leg, you're injured, but you've been tended to. cared for.
he takes some steps closer, a flash of concern in his eyes, yet he remains strong, not wanting to let his guard down around the man who is still a little too close to you for his liking. crouching down beside you, reclaiming his place, he assesses the wound.
his nose wrinkles. you smell like that bastard right beside you, the one that had probably been cuddling up to you all-
zoro shakes his head, focusing on the important things.
you explain everything that led you to this point. you'd taken a tumble during the initial fight, sliding down the snowy mountain and hurting your leg in the process. the so-called stranger had been the one to find you, tend to your wounds. of course he was skilled at first aid, of course he cooked you a hot dinner, of course he kept you warm while the snow fell outside in soft flurries.
damn, it pisses zoro off. none of this would've happened if the swordsman had kept you safe to begin with. yet, he has to begrudgingly voice a quick thanks.
you don't leave his sight though, not for one bit.
once some goods are packed up, zoro gets you situated on his back as he prepares to return you to the ship. he watches as you wave at the man one last time, your eyes bright, thankful, and zoro feels his cheeks warming at your expression, wishing it was directed at him instead.
he grows more comfortable as the cabin fades away and out of view. his shoulders relax, his breaths even out, and he's acutely aware of every move you make.
your arms snuggly rest over his shoulders, face resting in the crook of his neck as you seek refuge from the light snowfall. with your thighs wrapped around his hips, you rest and he makes sure to keep a secure hold on you.
it's as though all is right again. you'll be back with the crew, and it's a reassuring thought. or maybe it feels right because it's just you and him? zoro doesn't know.
either way, he makes a pledge to be better, to do better, to keep you safe.
at the end of the day, he doesn't even make the connection that he simply can't stand to see you in the arms of someone else.

I love shipping Luffy, Zoro and Sanji because only Sanji is having a bad time (because his brain is stupid)
Luffy? He gets to date his best friend AND his cook! More food and more cuddles!!!!
Zoro? He gets to date his best friend AND someone’s who’s gonna challenge him just like Kuina. Someone to follow and someone to fight back to back.
Sanji? Does Luffy just love me because I make him food? Why would someone so perfect like Luffy want anything to do with me? How does the Marimo factor into all of this? Is he just here because Luffy is? What am I thinking of course he is…in what world could someone as honorable and steadfast fall for anyone as pathetic and worthless…well I don’t wanna confront them if they’re just in it for the food…maybe I can make something super special to make dating me worth it! Does Luffy want to be doted on? Do they want me to stop doting on the girls? They did kiss me but maybe that’s more transactional, like a bit of love for doing a job well done! Well in that case I gotta do a pretty good job more often because I’m actually really touch-starved and they look at me like I’m doing something right but that’s just because I’m tricking them and…
He calls them stupid but seriously he’s the dumbest one by far

Sanji figured out he was in love with Zoro of all people, he immediately started planning how to kill the shitty Marimo. His favorite plan was to lure the damn swordsman in for a fight and then wrap his legs around his head and squeeze him and- well, by that point Sanji's head would wander off and when he came to himself he was already thinking about Zoro with even less clothing than usual. That man left nothing for the imagination and that would probably kill Sanji one day, because his mind could conjure Zoro's body with an accuracy that could be scary for some. So Sanji had a mission: Stop Loving Moss.
Step 1 of the mission would be to stop thinking about him. Which was easy, since differently from that idiot, Sanji actually had a job that he needed to do constantly instead of napping in the sun the whole day and- well. That step was doomed to fail anyway.
But step 2 would be easier! Don't think about why he fell in love with the Marimo. Zoro didn't have any good qualities outside of fighting. Except maybe how gentle he was with Chopper, or children in general, and also how he took his role as the crew's protector so seriously he trained religiously everyday, and also his determination to fulfill his dream to be the world's greatest swordsman, and- well, Sanji might be delusional at times, but even he could see that this step was simply impossible.
But he could skip straight to the third step! All he needed to do was fall in love with someone else! A lovely lady with luscious hair and pink lips, not the patch of grass Zoro had on his head or his chapped and dry lips, even if his hair was actually really soft, and running his hands through it had become one of his favorite things, and his lips weren't really dry thanks to how much water Sanji made the swordsman drink throughout the day.
And Sanji probably could come up with a thousand steps, but the shitty swordsman would slash right through them. At the end of the day, Sanji would still end up in his arms, with their hearts interwoven in a mess that only the two of them understood.
When Sanji found out he was in love with Zoro, he simply kept falling.
(I think Zoro figuring it out would be like:
Zoro: *acquires the brain cell for one second and the first thing he thinks about is Sanji smiling
Zoro:
Zoro: well now I gotta keep him forever I guess
And then he went on with his day)
#zosan#I think they would be like#very extreme in the sense of they're either Together or they're absolutely nothing#like I think as soon as Zoro realized he was in love with Sanji he immediately asked the cook to marry him#even if they weren't even dating yet

Green With Envy |Zoro X Reader|
Jealous Zoro x reader
Zoro x Crewmate!Reader
A/N: This is for @dinuxia-bhm, Who requested Zoro Jealous of the shitty cook. This is my very first One Piece fic request so I hope I did it justice.
Request : Open
Word Count : 5.3k
Leave a comment if you enjoy ! :)
"If you stare any longer , you may actually burn the image of them into your brain." Nami teased. She bumped the swordsman with her elbow , only then drawing his attention to her presence. "
Do you plan on making a move or were you hoping to intimidate her into a relationship?"
Nami takes a seat at the table next to the pirate who also awaits the start of breakfast. His eyes glance over at her , contemplating if he has any harsh words for the navigator... He has half a mind to tell her to mind her own business. Relationship? He scoffs at the notion. The swordsman knew nothing of feelings or love. The taboo, he quickly determined, too ridiculous to even discuss. Zoro only huffs in disagreement then goes back to watching the displays of affection amongst you and the cook.
You were teaching Sanji how to make an authentic breakfast from your village. The cook had begged you for weeks to share your favorite recipe with him. Even offering to spend his own berries gathering all the ingredients.
"Sanji, why do you keep asking me about this?" You inquired on the third week.
" I know you've only been sailing with us for a couple months, but I'm sure you noticed how hard it is to be away from home. " He took the cigarette out his lips then ashed it on the railing before giving you a sincere smile. "I just want to be able to make you something if you get homesick."
It was difficult to decline such a heartfelt request.
"Here. Try it now."
You blew on the spoon hoping to cool it down. When most of the steam subsided , you extended your arm bringing the spoon to Sanji's lips. You steadied his chin with your free hand being sure not to spill the hot liquid on his face. He hummed in pleasure at the taste.
"I think you have outdone even me on this one, my love." Sanji grinned proudly.
"As if I could ever!"
You pushed your hand into Sanji's chest jokingly shoving him away from you. The cook grabs your wrist before you can pull away, drawing you in to plant a tender kiss on your cheek.
"Darling, you truly did an amazing job. Thank you for showing me."
The sight made Zoro's stomach turn. He watched how Sanji's hands fell to your waist when he moved around you to navigate the kitchen. Notice how you didn't shy away from his touch. How you actually offered a sweet smile to him in return . The marimo's body strained at every passing touch you and Sanji exchanged. His taut muscles are too tense to contract any further at the sight of Sanji's lips against your skin. "Why does he get to touch you?" The thought comes as a surprise to him.
"Here Zo , you wanna try ?" You asked.
You turn to him with a new spoonful of jam, blowing on it just as you had done for Sanji . You had taken notice of the swordsman's observations of you . Watch the way his eyes had followed your hands to Sanji's chin when you fed him . Zoro had sat at the table all morning supervising your lesson with the cook. You figured you could offer him that attention too.
"Marimo is too dense to appreciate such elegant flavors. " Sanji responds before Zoro has an opportunity to.
"Fuck you! It's only your shit cooking I don't appreciate!"
While the boys bicker you walk over to the table spoon in hand. Sanji had hurled another insult at the ex bounty hunter , but the delicate feeling of your fingers wrapping around his chin stopped any words Zoro may have had in return. There was a small pause where his eyes lingered on yours . Searching for something . Malice? Contempt? You didn't know. But When he found what he was looking for , or lack thereof , his lips parted.
"Is it good? Do you like it?" You asked using your thumb to wipe away the excess from the side of his mouth.
"Yeah..." His gaze shifts away from you. "Way better than the cooks."
You giggled at his words, allowing yourself to wallow in the heat that filled your chest at his praise. Amused at the small smirk that laid on his lips once he had gotten what he wanted. Your attention. You bend to bring your mouth to his ear.
"Silly swordsman, I have enough attention for the both of you." You whispered .
"I- that's not-"
The words trip and stumble out his mouth never once finding their feet. You could see the sweat begging to bead on Zoro's brow as his eyes shifted about in panic, looking for anything coherent to mumble back. The stoic pirate reduced to a fumbling teenager at your words. When he can come up with nothing, he decides to stop speaking. Annoyed, he crosses his arms against his chest and turns his head to face the navigator. He is met with the knowing grin on her face.
-
Your eyes scanned the room while your fingers aimlessly tapped against the sake bottle. You sat at the bar top alone , waiting for the rest of your crew-mates to join you . You should have known better than to think any of them would be on time. Sticking to the plan was not something the Strawhats were particularly versed in. Especially when they were all left to their own devices on a new island. You sigh, dragging your free hand down your face , attempting not to ruin your makeup in the process. It was beginning to get difficult to wait. The eyes of the pirate's in the bar watched you hungrily, and you feared one may try to satiate their appetite. Eyes still roaming the room, you hoped to see a familiar face.
"A pretty lady like yourself shouldn't be sitting all alone in a packed bar. " A man announces.
It's their captain. His arm is extended, hand out offering you a beer as he approaches. You smile, kindly declining. You hold up your own bottle, shaking it slightly to indicate its fullness as means of justification . The man nodded in understanding, but didn't leave. In fact he took the prolonged silence as an invitation to take a seat alongside you.
"Are you waiting on somebody?"
He casually rests his hand on your thigh as though he has already claimed you . You shift in your seat, turning so your legs would fall beneath the bar top. You're hoping the man would sense your discomfort at his proximity. His hand does not move. Instead his smile grows wider. Taking your movement as the green light to slowly drag his hand up toward your waist.
"My boyfriend is meeting me."
The lie slips past your lips with ease at the sudden rush of adrenaline. You go to swat the man's hands from you . The previous statement should be enough for him to understand you are not his to claim . The smile he wears drops. His hand doesn't move. Despite your physical protest. Your breath hitches in your throat at the growing realization of the situation you're in.
"He shouldn't have left you here all alone." The man's voice isn't above a whisper
His warning is gone just as quickly as it came , but your fear still lingers in the air. Your eyes bounce wryly from the door to the pirate who continued to creep into your space. "They're coming!" Your mind loops the words as if they were an incantation.
Then, as if to answer your fervent prayers, the bar door is shoved open. Luffy is the first of your crew to enter, his first mate trails behind him. You can see Zoro searching for you in the crowd, as the rest of the Strawhats messily file in after him. It doesn't take long for his eyes to find yours.
You don't have to say a word . The swordsman can sense your discomfort from where he stood. He saw the fear that engulfed the glimmer that resides in your eyes. He watched how you kept your arms held close to your body, afraid the man would reach for you. Notice how rigidly you cross your legs over one another . Then he sees the man's hand rubbing up and down your thigh. The swordsman starts making his way over to you, hand on the hilt of Shusui.
Zoro drew his sword placing the blade at the base of the man's wrist. The music in the bar stopped. The patrons are silent. Everybody's eyes fall on the three of you. Most filled with fear, your friends with confusion. But all watch the same as the conflict unfolds.
"Move your hand, before I slice it off."
There is a brief pause before the man laughs. A genuine belly hugging laugh at Zoro's imminent threat. Moments later the other men join in, egging their captain on.
"Is this the boyfriend you were talking about?"' The man asks, ignoring the ex bounty hunter. His eyes don't leave your body. Neither does his hand. "You almost got your lady in a lot of trouble , leaving her all alone in a bar like this."
Zoro's scowl deepens at the pirate's words. "Boyfriend? You had told the man he was your boyfriend?" The pieces slowly fall into place as the swordsman assesses the scene surrounding you. Alone, you sat in a bar full of pirates. The only other women present are staff of the small business. Zoro's eyes glance over at yours. His grip tightens around the hilt at the sight of your fearful expression. You had told the pirate he was boyfriend. Zoro finally understands.
"What kind of man would treat his girlfriend that way?"
"What kind of man uses his power to strong arm women? " The swordsman responds.
The question coals in the raging fire that was already roaring in the ex bounty hunter. The pirate had thought you were his, yet touched you anyway. Decided you were his to claim. To conquer. Then Justified his actions using the lack of Zoro's presence as an excuse. As if his absence was reason enough to encroach your space, and have you trembling in fear. Now the pirate captain had the audacity to question the type of man he was. It enrages Zoro.
"I'm not going to repeat myself."
"Strong arm?" The captain stifles another laugh. His eyes finally look over to meet the swordsman. "We would've handled princess here real gentle."
The pirate clenches his fingers around you then goes to inch his hand further up your thigh. Zoro has seen enough. There is a sharp yelp preceding the sound of him sheathing his weapon. Your harasser's hand falls to the floor beneath your feet. Blood spews from his severed arm. You want to scream, but a sharp gasp falls from your lips instead. Almost instinctively Zoro's hand reaches out to grasp yours at the reaction.
You had seen Zoro cut down many men before, but being inches away from his blade as he does so was an entirely different experience. As you felt the warmth of the pirate's blood seeping into your dress, and wiped at the splatters of blood that littered your skin, you couldn't help but be a bit awestruck at his strength.
The captain's crew members rush to his aid as his screams continue. Zoro lets you squeeze his hand while you cautiously hop down from the bar stool, trying your best not to slip on the blood that covered the floor. He nudges you along to follow him. The only precursor you receive before the two of you walk into the single stalled bathroom at the back of the bar.
The small room didn't allot the two of you much personal space. If anything it forced you two into dangerously close proximity. As you stood in front of the sink , back to the mirror, you could feel Zoro's knees lightly brush yours when he reached to grab the paper towel off the roll. He bundles it up then brings it to your cheek. You take note of the small hesitation he makes before his hand lands on your chin . He licks the wad before swiping away at your cheek. A poor attempt to rid you of the scumbag's blood.
"I'm sorry." The words feel unfamiliar as they fall from the swordsman's mouth.
Your eyebrows raise to your temples. In all the months you had been sailing with the Strawhats , you have never heard Zoro apologize. You wonder what made this occasion so different. the slight widening of your eyes gives way to your surprise. Zoro notices and continues.
"I should have been on time."
"Don't be sorry Zoro. You saved me, thank you."
You bring your hand up to rest over his before smiling up at him. The look in your eyes, the one he had seen you give to Sanji so many times, was finally from his doing. His heart raced at your expression. He felt himself begin to sweat as the warmth of your stare spread across his skin. Zoro couldn't understand the physical response from his body. Part of him wanted to run. To flee the threat that seemed to be your piercing gaze. But a bigger part of him wanted to bask in its glow, doing anything imaginable to keep the sun out just a little while longer.
"Although " You giggle at the silly hunch. "I would have thought it would be Sanji to save me."
Your words bring raging storm clouds that wash Zoro's warmth away. He rolls his eyes. As though the notion was too implausible to even be considered. He brings the paper towel back to your cheek then speaks.
"The dumbass cook can barely save himself !"
"Is the moss head jealous?" You tease. " I'm happy it was you."
A loud bang on the flimsy wooden door interrupts the swordsman before he can respond. Seconds later it flings open, shaking on its creaky hinges. The sniper stands on the other side wide eyed.
"It's time to go!"
When you reunite with your crew there really is no need to explain the urgency of the situation. The pirate captain laid unconscious on the ground with a makeshift tourniquet wrapped around his arm. Apparently the crew had not taken kindly to Zoro's treatment of their captain, and seemed to have every intention of taking it out on the rest of the crew.
"C'mon guys there is surely no reason to make this much fuss over one hand." Brooke had tried to reason, his efforts in vain. The pirate crew wanted a fight.
"You pieces of shit!" Sanji swept his leg, thrashing a considerable number of men through the bar's singular window. "How dare he have the audacity to treat my darling , sweet love with such disrespect. And now you stand here trying to avenge your captain's actions... I won't allow it to go unpunished."
Sanji had enough fury in his heart to take on the entirety of the scumbag's lackeys. A fight was the only way to alleviate the emotions that were sure to get the better of him. In under three moves the cook had the no named pirate crew looking just as bad as their captain. The situation was settled.
-
"So the swordsman saves the day." Sanji says dejectedly as he brings the glass to his lips to take a drink. "At least you're okay."
You can't help the giddy smile that appears on your face at his mention. A bitter side effect of the alcohol. The navigator had suggested none of you go home empty handed after the chaos that ensued at the bar. Insinuated you had deserved a treat after all your troubles. There were no objections. At first you can only giggle at the cook's words. Butterfly's bloom in your chest when you think about the swordsman's delicate touch against your skin just moments after cutting a man down... for you. A slight chills crawls down your spine. You take a significant swig from the whiskey bottle in your hand hoping the burn of the alcohol sliding down your throat may warm you up.
"He's an interesting man , Uh?" You pause to glance towards the deck. "Zoro."
"That's one word."
Sanji's curly brows raise at your question. He turns to look at you, but you don't meet his gaze. You're looking out at the party . The cook watches your eyes while they search and scatter. He is trying to assess their intent, and then it dawns on him. You were looking for him. The Swordsman.
"You wouldn't happen to have a crush on mosshead would you?"
Your eyes dart back to Sanji , then away to look at the sea. Crush wasn't nearly a strong enough word to describe how you felt about Roronoa Zoro. Sometimes you would switch night watches with Nami just for the opportunity to watch the swordsman train in the crows nest. Although most of the time had been spent in silence , there was still something special about being in his presence. But Zoro's stoicism made it difficult to discern his feelings. You had thought him so unconcerned with your presence for so long that you had resorted to blatant teases and flirting with him in the first place. If only to fluster him. You craved acknowledgment from Zoro, in the way your lungs craved oxygen. desperately.
"I have been obsessed with the swordsman since the day Luffy dragged me onto the sunny... "
"Obsessed uh?"
Sanji lets out a genuine laugh at the words. Amused by the way the alcohol loosens your tongue. He had always taken notice of your affinity toward Zoro. Witnessed how differently you spoke to him than the others. Your crewmates had easily labeled you a flirt, but the way you riled Zoro had been different than the jokingly stated endearments you passed the rest of them.
Sanji glances around you to spot the swordsman on the deck. As he suspects the green haired pirate is surveilling them. When their eyes meet Zoro turns his head to stare at the antics of their captain, feigning interest. "If the dumbass mosshead had even the slightest ounce of emotional intelligence the two of you would be happy now." Sanji is surprised when the thought bumps into his head.
"Well, darling" Sanji wraps his arm around your shoulder to draw you into him. You rest your head on his chest, then he continues to speak. "I have half a mind to say marimo likes you too."
The swordsman lays against the mast , feet crossed in front of him downing his third bottle of the night. He doesn't understand his anger at your actions; This scalding feeling that envelops him at the way you rest your head on Sanji's chest encourages him to drink more. He tries to dismiss his thoughts, convince himself that he doesn't care, but they bombard him like a buster call.
"Why did the cook get to hold you?" "He was the one who saved you. Why are you batting your eyelashes at Sanji and not him ?" "What else does he have to do to keep your attention?" "What about the shit cook was so much better than him?"
Zoro sees you part from the cook, and watches as you trek back to the party. He assumes you'll rejoin Nami and Robin, considering the tipsy women are calling your name so fervently. His brows raise when you pass them giving a placating wave. You're making your way over to him.
"Don't tell me you're already done drinking Zoro. I hadn't known you to be such a lightweight." You jest, pointing over to the 3 empty bottles that sat alongside him.
Zoro smirks before reaching for the half empty bottle that was clutched in your fingers. He wraps his large hand around yours then guides you to bring the bottle to his lips so he can take a drink. When he is done he wipes the excess from his lips using the back of his hand.
"You done smiling at the cook?"
He releases his hold on you then turns his head so your eyes won't meet his. He's staring at the sea as if it will answer his question. You mock a gasp bringing your free hand to your chest. Then you giggle.
"Roronoa! You're so jealous."
"No I'm not!"
You bring your hand to Zoro's cheek guiding his eyes back to yours. You offer him a sly smirk before you bend at the waist to meet his face. You're so close Zoro can feel your breath on his cheeks.
"Yes you are mossy. So spoiled, wanting my attention all to yourself. It's okay, I'm here now."
Zoro jerks his chin away from your grasp. His face scrunches into a frown. It's difficult for him to discern if it's anger, or embarrassment that's swelling inside him. The words fall from his lips before he has a chance to assess them.
"I'm not jealous!... I don't even know what the shitty cook sees in you."
Zoro wishes he could snatch the words back before they hit your ears. Hates how you wince at what he says. The way your smile dropped while you ruminated on his words. There is no more sunshine in your tear pooled eyes, only storm clouds. He knows it before the first tear has fallen. He's gone too far. You storm away from him.
-
"You made her cry." Sanji states as he pulls the cigarette for his lips. He puffs the smoke out then turns to Mosshead for an answer.
Zoro is in the crow's nest hiding from the peering eyes of his crewmates. Surely the cook hadn't been the only one to notice your early departure from the party only moments after the conversation you two had. The others were bound to have questions of their own soon. None of which Zoro cared to answer.
"I didn't mean to." Is all the swordsman can muster. The image of your broken hearted eyes are seared into his brain. Why did he say that? He wants to bang his head against the wall at the thought. Sanji rolls his eyes at the excuse. Not assuaged by the swordsman's words. Intent had no significance in Sanji's mind, all that mattered was that he was the source of your tears.
"What did you say to her?"
"It doesn't matter."
"Bullshit."
Zoro walked toward the dumbbells that laid on the floor . He decides lifting is a better option than repeating his misgivings. He had no intention of admitting to the cook that he himself had been the source of Zoro's rage.
"Why do you care?" Zoro snaps back . He's deflecting.
"Because I care about her. She's cried herself to sleep and it's your fault!"
"If you care so much you fix it!"
"I wish I could marimo, I would love nothing more than to take that darling lady away from you."
Zoro scrunched his face into yet another frown. From him ? Zoro had never believed you his to begin with . Had that been the case he would've cut the chef down ages ago for his fleeting touches and stares.
"Take her, I don't care."
At this the cook let out a loud laugh that threatened to escape the confines of the crow's nest. He genuinely couldn't believe the swordsman could be so oblivious of his own feelings. When Sanji catches his breath, he can't help his devilish smile.
"... So you wouldn't mind if I climb into her bed tonight? You know she asked me."
Zoro's jaw clenches. He lowers the dumb bells away from his chest then drops them to the floor. Now his eyes meet the cook. Sanji takes it as an invitation to continue.
"I think she wanted the comfort after y'all's ... run in."
More fuel is added to Zoro's already racing thoughts. This time, he could not convince himself he was unbothered. Couldn't find a deep place to push the discomfort. The cook always got the best parts of you. Parts the swordsman so desperately wanted to save for himself. Zoro was sick of it.
"Don't touch her."
A sharp chuckle falls from Sanji's lips at the irony. Zoro couldn't admit to how he feels about you, but is standing there contemplating cutting him down at the mere thought of letting him into your bed. How could marimo be so stupid?
"Yeah mosshead, You don't care about her at all." Sanji mocked.
"You don't know what you're talking about?" Zoro scoffs.
What does the shitty cook know of his feelings, when he himself could not sort them out.
Sanji can only shake his head in disappointment. He brings his fingers to the bridge of his nose to pinch it slightly before letting out a dismissive sigh. Oh how'd he wished to take your mind away from the swordsman. Wished it was he who was the object of your affections, but the cook knew you would never be obsessed with him in the same way you were marimo. As painful as that may be.
"Zoro, if you lose the girl you're in love with because you're too stupid to figure out your feelings..." He takes a drag from his cigarette "You're a bigger dumbass than I thought."
"Why do you give a shit if things work out?t" Zoro snarls. He wonders why Sanji has suddenly taken his feelings into so much consideration.
"Honestly mossy I don't. You don't deserve her. but she loves you and she deserves to be happy. You'll make her happy. That's all I really want... "
-
Sanji set the plate down on the vanity. He peers over at you wrapped in the thick comforter. You had allowed it to engulf you, face and all. You had not moved since he had come to see you last. That was at breakfast. Still you faced the wall with your back to him. There is a slight hesitation in his step before he walks further into the room.
"You sure everything is okay?" He inquires for the second time.
"I'm fine Sanji. Really." You attempt to sound reassuring.
The cook nods in understanding. He is not convinced , but will not ask for a third time . Instead he leaves the room, shutting the door behind him. A sigh of relief leaves your lips. You didn't want to tell Sanji the truth. That you were too embarrassed to face the swordsman. That his rejection looped continuously through your mind, making it impossible to sleep. Had Zoro really meant what he said ? Were you just making a fool of yourself this whole time? The thought makes you shudder.
Sanji pushes his way through the door to enter the kitchen. He is met with the eyes of his crewmates who waited for him at the table in anticipation . He shakes his head. Nami and Robin release their sighs of disappointment .
"I wonder why she won't join us." Robin inquires.
"First breakfast, now lunch... She must really be feeling bad." Nami continues.
"I can go check on her... " Luffy chimes in "maybe she'll tell me what's wrong."
Luffy goes to grab a handful of the chopped fruit Sanji had placed on the table . Sanji swats his captain's hands away before sitting another plate down, this time sandwiches. Zoro has now entered the kitchen hearing the tale end of the Strawhat's woes. He feels the way the cooks eye borough into his skull, knowing that they're scowling at him. Zoro doesn't look his way. He knows that it is his fault you've gone missing . He doesn't need the cook to remind him.
"Marimo is going to check on her." Sanji announces.
The room falls quite as eyes are now on the swordsman. Nami cringes in disbelief, shaking her head vigorously.
"I don't think that's a good id-"
"Don't worry, he'll fix it." Sanji ends Nami's sentence before she has the chance to.
His crew eyes him with unsure stares. Zoro had never been one to offer much comfort, even in the most dark of times. They didn't see how he'd be the answer to their troubles. Sanji does not elaborate on his statement. He offers his crew a smile before setting the homemade chips on the table and announcing lunch is ready.
-
"Sanji , you don't have to keep coming in here every fifteen minutes to check on me. " You say to the sound of knocking at the bedroom door.
You pull the blankets back to face who you thought was the cook. Zoro stood there in his place. His back against the bedroom door like he was still contemplating if he should stay or not. You sit up at the feeling of your heart shooting to your throat.
"What are you doing here?"
"You haven't come out all day." He responds as if that answers your question. When you don't say anything back , he assumes he should continue. "They're worried about you."
Zoro's hand falls to the nape of his neck, he rubs sheepishly then looks down at the floor. You roll your eyes, dissatisfied with his answer. You pull the blankets up to cover your face then turn your back to him.
"Go away Zoro."
It hurts him to hear, although he knows he has no right to be upset. When he heard you didn't show up for breakfast, he'd felt worse than when the words initially fell from his mouth. Truth be told he had hid in the crow's nest as long as he could trying not to run into you this morning . Thought that he was giving you space to breathe without his watchful eye.
"I- I was jealous... of you and the cook."
Zoro pauses waiting for a reaction from you to see if he should keep talking or not. There's an unusual shake of fear in his voice you don't recognize. You sit up to face him once again.
"I was mad and I took it out on you. I'm sorry. It won't happen again."
This has made two apologies from the ever prideful pirate.
"You hurt my feelings." Your voice is soft , fragile as you respond.
"I know..." The swordsman pushes himself from the door to take a step towards you. "If I could eat the words I would."
You gaze into his eyes for a moment, searching for an ounce of deception. You know you won't find it . If the swordsman had not meant his words, he would not have gone out of his way to say them. But still you look to reassure yourself.
"Zoro I don't understand makes you so angry about my relationship with Sanji?"
"I don't like it when he touches you." The swordsman confesses.
You smirk at his candor. All this over the playful touches the cook had thrown your way. It was almost too sweet to believe you had the swordsman so twisted at the sight of you sharing your affection. You swing your legs so they fall off the edge of the bed. You're staring at him intently. Zoro is nervous under your gaze . You can tell by the way he fiddles with his fingers aimlessly.
"You don't like when Sanji touches me ?" You repeat. You pause to offer the swordsman a chance to take back his words. But he does not renege.
"...I don't like when anyone touches you."
Your giggle is involuntary. The smirk on your lips is now a full blown smile. Despite the pain that had come from it, you couldn't help but love the thought of the swordsman jealous over you. Before you were just joking , but to hear the words from Zoro's mouth himself was truly blissful.
"Roronoa... Do you have a crush on me?"
"Crush on you?" He ponders like it's the first time he's thought about it. "I don't think that's a strong enough word."
"No?"
He shakes his head taking a step toward you . His hand meets your cheek. He is hesitant. Thinks you may pull away from his touch. But the swordsman is pleasantly surprised when you lean into his hand.
"Sanji says I'm in love with you."
Your heart skips at the word. Love. It sounded so sweet coming from Zoro lips. You wondered what you would have to do to hear him say it again.
"Yeah? And what do you think?"
"I think he might be right."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A/N : I stared at this so long, I might have it memorized at this point lol. I'm not sure if I'm happy with it , but it is a labor of love nonetheless.
{If you would like to be added to my tag list lemme know! I would Love to have you}

Reacting To Your Moods
( Zoro x Reader )
Warnings: None I guess. [SFW]
Sadness
-When you get sad over something, he brings a sake bottle and sits beside you.
-"So, what happened?' he asks you calmly and listens to your venting while drinking his sake.
-If you start to cry suddenly, he gets startled and comes closer to you.
-"Oi..!" He has no idea what to say. But he wants to comfort you.
-He awkwardly says, "Everything will, work fine... Okay?"
-If you don't stop crying, he will sigh and hug you, letting your head rest on his chest. He prefers to comfort you like this more than with words.
Anger
-On the days where you get irritated over almost everything for no reason, he just tries to avoid you and exercise all day.
-If a huge argument starts over about something, he tries not to say anything back. Yes, he is annoyed. But he is the type who gets out of the room in the middle of the argument, saying,
"Tsk, this is going nowhere."
-And comes back again after both of you have cooled down.
Happiness
-When he sees you happy and smiling over something, it brings a slight smile to his face too.
-He watches you from afar.
-Even if he doesn't have much brain capacity, he keeps everything that makes you happy in his mind.
Fear
-If you have a phobia or get scared of something, he will quickly notice it.
"Oi Y/N, Are you okay there?"
-If you are in private, he will hold you in his arms until you calm down.
-If you are in public, he will put a hand around your shoulder and let you know that he is with you.
Jealousy
-There are cons to dating a man this handsome, not to mention how talented a swordsman he is.
-You know he is loyal, but when you see girls stare at him and try to flirt with him, you can't help but get jealous.
-Even if he notices an attack coming from miles away, he will never notice your burning jealousy, even if you are standing just beside him.
-If Sanji or Nami notice it, they might give him a good yell. Sanji will kick him and say,
"Baka Marimo. How could you make a lovely lady jealous like that, huh?"
Or
-Zoro himself will notice that you are acting weird. But, of course, he has no idea why. He will ask you directly what's bothering you. And after you tell him everything, he will say,
"Huuuuuh? When did that happen?" in shock.
When he sees you sad about it, he comes to you. Then he grabs your waist and pulls you closer to him. He looks into your eyes. His other hand runs through your hair.
"You know that you are the only one for me. Right?"
He gives you a charming smile. Then he slowly leans on you and kisses you gently.

Truth Truth fruit
I have this idea that has been stuck in my brain for a little while.
What if the strawhats were aproached by the devil fruit user whose power would be making others tell the truth. It can work in different ways.
* It can just forbid those affected to tell lies. They can still hide the truth by keeping quiet
* It can force the truth out of them. They can’t stay quiet and they feel like they have to tell everything
* It can make them act on their true feelings
The plan of the df user is to incite conflict and weaken the strawhats
Now there are two options: it can affect everyone ( except Luffy cause he’s an honest boi) or maybe just Sanji.
I was mainly focused on a scenario where Sanji starts avoiding Zoro so he wouldn’t confess his true feelings for marimo. One day he finds out he can’t tell lies. At first he somehow deals with it but after one time when instead of saying something rude to Zoro he said something really sweet he decided it’s too risky. He decided to stay away from mosshead until they find the culprit. After some time Zoro starts getting suspicious of Sanji. He thought there were no more secrets between them. He already knew about momoiro island and vinsmokes. And he is the only one Sanji decided to avoid! He thought they could fully trust each other. He’s hurt but he doesn’t do anything about it at first. That is until one day he approaches Sanji in the kitchen. Before the cook can say anything a hand suddenly covers his mouth.
- listen, cook. It’s obvious that you’re avoiding me and it really has been pissing me off. If there’s something you don’t want to tell me then that’s fine. I’m not going to force it out of you. I just wanted to remind you that…you’re not alone. We are your nakama. You shouldn’t feel like you have to hide anything from us cause we’ll accept you no matter what………or somethin like that…..I guess…..
Zoro then removes his hand from Sanji’s mouth and turns to leave the kitchen. Before he can do that Sanji catches his wrist to stop him
- I love you
(It could be just these three words or a proper love confession with Sanji telling Marimo how long he’s been feeling that way and how Zoro made him question everything) and then they kiss 👉🏻👈🏻
Now that I wrote this I have no idea what to do with this. I’m bad at writing and I have no idea how to even draw it. ;-;
I’m just gonna leave it here. Now I’m free
#sooo first time sharing an idea like this#I wonder if someone already wrote a fic like this#if not then you can use these messy notes however you like#I focused on a confession but I think it has a potential for many funny scenarios#zosan#roronoa zoro#sanji x zoro#black leg sanji#one piece

He has done everything in his power to protect the snail from being tampered with: sleeping with it on his mattress beside him as a last ditch effort to halt it from an unwanted touch and alteration...
...but his crew is exceptionally intelligent, and the mechanical mastery of the Polar Tang translates exceptionally well to Den Den frequency.
It started with a silly comment regarding how many beats per minute is used in cardiopulmonary resuscitation: it's 100-120 beats. Compressions need to be timed accordingly to save a life, and what a better way to remember that by tampering with Captain Trafalgar Law's Den Den to set a beat to match that frequency.
Ikkaku is the best with wires and cogs, Penguin is an excellent anesthesiologist, and Hakugan is the second best surgeon on the ship. With Jean Bart and Uni keeping watch of the door, Clione and Bepo steering the Tang and holding it steady, the three of them begin the tamper with the snail radio frequency to not only emit the sound from Law's shell when it's called: but all shells Law manages to call from his personal Den Den.
Unaware and sleeping soundly for the first time in a long time, Law is awoken by the sound of his Den Den singing instead of its usual warble, and his face flushed red with both anger and embarassment.
He can't even bring himself to answer the call, even while knowing who was on the other end of the transmission. There is nothing he can do to change it now, and after the anger subsides, he actually marvels a little at the mastery gone into ensuring that this is what plays when he needs to use his shell...

Monster Trio w/ a Jealous S/O who Decides to Take Revenge
Luffy:
Boa Hancock was definitely in love with Luffy. Everyone could see it, except for Luffy.
He just kind of let it happen. He didn’t flirt back or anything, but that is what pissed you off!
So you kept thinking of how to get revenge and Nami told you to spend time with someone he could not stand. You wrecked your brain trying to think of people he didn’t like, when all of a sudden he walked right by you. Kid!
You spent your time with him at the pirate festival ignoring Luffy. Kid was actually super fun to spend time with. You both had a lot of hobbies and interests in common, so it was actually kind of fun
Luffy wasn’t really bothered. Flirting wasn’t really something he understood, so your plan backfired. He asked you when you and Jaggy became friends.
Even after explaining your revenge plan to him, Luffy really didn’t understand what was going on, so you did all that work for nothing.
Well, at least you made a new friend in Kid.
And a new enemy in Boa Hancock.
Zoro:
Hiyori and Zoro woke up together and of course you had to walk into the room with Brook and see it.
You decide to get revenge and make him jealous. So you decide to get cozy with the one person he can’t stand, Sanji.
You hung out with Sanji all day. Telling him how sweet he was and how much you enjoyed being with him and how much better he was than Marimo.
Zoro was so annoyed but knew you wouldn’t listen to him, so he sent your new arch rival, Hiyori, to talk to you.
She explained that it was only for body warmth and that she would not step on your toes.
You went to find Zoro and told him you were sorry and that you didn’t really like Sanji like you liked him.
He was happy and gave you a passionate kiss.
Then he went and found Sanji. We all know how that was going to end.
Sanji:
Sanji is one of the biggest flirts. If you are a beautiful woman, he’s flirting with you.
One day you were just done with it all and you knew you needed to get back at him for this
You were really good friends with Zoro (much to Sanji’s dismay) so you asked him for a favor. Be all flirty with you for the day and you’ll let him have your share of Sake at dinner.
You two spent the whole day spending time with Zoro, taking naps together, talking, training, etc.
Sanji was NOT liking this. No one out like HIS GIRL more that him
At one point, Sanji could take it and the two men got into their usual fights. Saying that Zoro need to back off because he was better to you and he could love you better
This was your queue. You jumped into action and explained the whole situation to Sanji while Zoro laughed at how dumb the cook was.
Sanji promised to try a little harder to not flirt, but no matter how much he flirted, none of them were as great as you.
But, he could not promise you that he wouldn’t beat up your swordsman bff after he was done

i would love to see a hate fuck scene with zoro and sanji based off your “we all got needs” fic !! it doesn’t have to actually be canon to your story of course. i love your writing so much !!
Thank you so much! 🥰🥰 And thank you for the request! I haven't written a hatefuck scene before, and wasn't sure if I could, but then I wrote the first draft hella fast, lol. I hope you like it
This is not part of We've All Got Needs, but if it was it would happen after this: I Saw You First ~ Part 1

Pairings: Zoro x Sanji, Sanji x Fem!Reader, Zoro x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 815
We've All Got Needs Masterlist
Ao3 Link
Summary: You have a casual arrangement with Zoro, but he isn't happy that you had your first night with Sanji tonight. Zoro overheard some of your time together, and his rage kept him from sleeping. Instead, Zoro has gone to confront the cook for taking what's his.
Rating/Warnings: Explicit Sexual Content, 18+ Only, MDNI, DUB CON, Fem!Reader (not present in scene but discussed), Brief Reader-Insert, Smut, Angst, Anger, Mild Violence, Hate Sex, Jealousy, Blow Jobs, Face-Fucking, Zoro can't keep his shit together, and Sanji keeps poking the bear
A/N: This was way too fun
“Why are you always after what’s mine?”
Zoro couldn’t fall asleep after he’d heard you leave the galley. The memory of your moans mixed with Sanji’s kept ripping through him until his rage was too much. He’d charged into the kitchen to find Sanji leaning over the counter, lazily smoking a cigarette.
“Funny, I didn’t see your name on her, and I was pretty thorough in my inspection.”
Zoro grabbed Sanji by his striped shirt, still unbuttoned after your time together. Shoving him against the wall, Zoro seethed as Sanji blew smoke into his face, taunting him.
“I saw her first.”
“Are you worried she’ll prefer me? Did you hear her moaning my name earlier? She really does have the voice of an angel.”
“Shut the fuck up! You listened to us didn’t you. I bet you got off on it, pervert. And then you had to butt in, always getting in my way.”
“I believe you told dear Y/N that you were alright with this arrangement. Was the concept too difficult for your moss filled brain to grasp?”
“I don’t fucking care about the concept. I care about you fucking with me and my shit for the last time.”
Zoro pinned him against the wall now, grabbing his chin hard to tilt it toward him as he spit the words in his face.
Sanji let out a small sound that was way too close to a moan, and Zoro growled.
“I don’t know, Marimo. Seems like you’ve got some other shit to deal with.”
Sanji’s warm hand gripped Zoro’s cock, hard and angry as he pressed against the cook.
Zoro let out a strained gasp, pushing away from the wall, and the touch.
“Fuck you, pervert.”
Sanji walked slowly to the kitchen table, putting out his cigarette before smiling at the swordsman.
He tilted his head as he walked toward the door.
“Thanks for the offer, but Y/N took care of me tonight.”
Zoro ran up, slamming him into the wall by the kitchen door.
Sanji kept balanced on his feet, but didn’t push him away, laughing in his face instead.
“Oh, this explains so much, mosshead. When you go to sleep tonight, will you touch yourself to the thought of Y/N’s sweet body, or will it be mine?”
“Shut your fucking mouth.”
Sanji was still laughing when Zoro shoved him to his knees, his eyes going wide when Zoro reached for his pants. Sanji started to speak when Zoro grabbed his stupid blonde hair, and shoved his cock down the cook's throat.
Sanji sputtered, but breathed through the rough thrusts, gripping Zoro's thighs, digging his fingers in.
But he didn’t push him away. He looked up at the swordsman, watching his rage filled eyes, manic now as he shoved into him.
Zoro’s mind was blind with anger, and the sickly sweet feeling of Sanji's throat clenching around his cock. All the rage and frustration that had been building felt like it was funneling down, focused on this single point as he gripped that blonde hair, taking what he fucking needed.
Sanji’s eyes were watering, overwhelmed with shock, and the pulse of blood filling his own cock, throbbing again after this wild night.
Sanji couldn’t believe this fucking idiot. He could have shoved him away, but the thought of Marimo hating himself in the morning for this was too fucking delicious.
Zoro wasn’t saying a word, just grunting and taking. The wet, sloppy sounds echoed through the galley, Sanji’s whimpers growing louder as his eyes rolled back in his head.
Sanji couldn’t control his lower body as it started to thrust forward slightly, the sensation of Zoro’s cock finally overwhelming his own petty thoughts.
Then Zoro’s thrusts stuttered, and Sanji could feel the pulsing, throbbing, twitching cock about to claim him.
Before Sanji could think or move, Zoro was coming down his throat, the heat filling him as Zoro gripped his hair even harder. Sanji shook beneath him, his own come filling his pants, the sensation of it all was too much for him.
Zoro grabbed onto Sanji’s head with both hands as he finished, groaning as he came hard, feeling the cook's throat taking everything.
Panting, he would have stayed there for a moment until he remembered whose lips were wrapped around him. Launching himself backward, he stumbled against the counter, sending one of the stools clattering to the floor.
Zoro shoved himself back in his pants, panic flooding his veins.
Sanji was gasping, mouth red and swollen as he rubbed tears from his eyes.
Zoro tried to speak, but couldn’t find any words. He wanted to go jump off the fucking ship. ‘There’s no fucking way that just happened,’ he thought, trying to grip onto denial.
Sanji had his hands on his knees, finally able to breathe enough to smile.
“And I thought you didn’t want me touching what’s yours.”
Thank You for Reading! 💜

Trans!masc Sanji who spent years dreaming about having a baby, despite the body dysmorphia he knew he would risk.
Sanji who spent his whole life dreaming of starting a family, planning to be a better father than his shitty sperm donor and to also be a bit more gentle than Zeff. Sanji who knows his calling (after being a chef and finding the all blue) is to give love unconditionally. He gives love to so many, people constantly say he’s going to make a great father and he believes it.
Sanji who has the most difficult pregnancy. Everything hurts, standing for so long in the kitchen sucks, his ankles are sore, he’s not allowed to spar anymore, he’s not able to wear a binder anymore, but he knows, he just knows that he was born to be a parent, that one of the best things he could do in his life is to raise a child with his marimo (IM A ZOSAN FAN I CANT HELP IT)
Sanji who finally FINALLY goes into labor and has the baby, everything goes as smooth as it can… so why doesn’t this baby feel like HIS baby? Why does it feel like he’s babysitting someone else’s kid? Wasn’t he supposed to feel some instant bond, some overwhelming love? He can’t sleep more than 2 hours at a time without waking up in a cold sweat and rushing to check the baby is alive, only to desperately wish he could just go back in time and not have to do this anymore.
Nami and Robin who get together and make padcicles for Sanji post partum and hold the baby so he can just make himself a cup of tea and breath.
Brooke who plays soothing lullabies for the baby and does his best to drown out the cries so Sanji doesn’t wake up from a nap.
Franky and Usopp who create a bassinet that gently rocks the baby to sleep if it detects motion or crying
Jimbei who is so big and squishy and does contact naps with the baby so Zoro and Sanji can have a nap just the two of them
Luffy who is a human weighted blanket, grabbing Sanji and forcing him to listen to affirmations of how he IS a good dad, he loves his baby even if his brain is being dumb, no baby is as lucky as his baby is and no baby has a better set of dads
Zoro who holds his partner while he cries, reassuring him that it’s ok to feel this way, that this isn’t some Vinsmoke thing, it’s a “you just had a baby and your body and brain are totally different now”
Sanji who suffers from severe post partum depression and anxiety but has an entire crew to uplift and support him as he heals
Sanji who wakes up one morning, turning to Zoro and says “I think I finally feel like myself again”

I saw a Zosan comic once where Usopp asked Zoro how he dealt with Sanji being so like that (swirly was flirting up the ladies per usual in the background) Before Sanji twirled his way around to fill up Zoro's mug, whisper something sweet into the kiss his pressed into his cheek, then twirled away as Zoro flashed a smug little grin Usopp's way
And I just think there should be more zosan art/fics like that
Yes yes the boys still bicker and have their little dick measuring contests and fight as always to tests their strength
But it's always done with a knowing smile even as they test the upper limit of each other's patience and outside of that? Sanji's just as loving as he would be with any other partner (Something that kind of bothers me in fic spaces is that Sanji's always portrayed as fawning over any and every fem person but when it comes to Zoro himself and they're intended to be shipped there isn't nearly as much of that same energy :/)
Zoro deserves to be adored and cared for just as much, flaunted to the world as Sanji's man and appreciated by him just as much as any woman if they're going to be in love dammit Sanji's weird and repressed pre-ts because seeing Zoro be out and unashamed of who he is while he's still struggling to come to terms that he even likes men and puts women on a pedastal as a result of intense trauma, I don't expect him to do all that for Zoro back then with that much unaddressed baggage
So I like to think that especially post-ts after Sanji's sorted his shit on Gender Island that he's more than willing to shower his marimo in damn near embarrassing open affection, and Zoro's receptive to it - not prancing around like Sanji is too, I don't think it's in his nature, but at least smiling in acknowledgement and the occasional heart fingers/hands across the deck that sends Sanji spinning with love hearts back into the kitchen to whip up Zoro's afternoon snack
Usopp, Nami, and Robin tease him about how he's become quite the perfect little housewife for his big strong man after maybe seriously trying to kill Zoro more than a handful of times before they were separated at Sabaody The truly genuine response of how he acted in the past makes him cringe, and how he hope to make it up to Zoro now by making sure that stupid moss knows that he loves him every day throws his peers off a little and earns a gentle smile from Robin in response
The teasing slows but doesn't stop from there
(Don't get me wrong I still like emotionally constipated ZS @/wellfine's comic about them saying I love you is still one of my faves to date I just want... more stuff of them being loving in conventional ways </3)
+ some quick gender thoughts as well since this ramble post is getting long and I might as well
I'm a ride or die trans!Zoro truther but I think it'd be sweet if Sanji came back from Gender Island cis, just- like an actually functioning person about it now He's gnc and plays with heels and makeup and dresses but he's still a man, only a man who's fully confident in who he is and confident in the fact that his supportive trans boyfriend still loves him not despite all of that, but because of it since that's who he is Zoro being a huge muscly trans man who still retains the ability to be tender and soft and in touch with his emotions instead of a meat-brained gym rat is so important to me personally actually asdfgsdfsd

zosan angst 👀 post whole cake island where zoro is mad for sanji not relying on him enough to help with his family drama. swears to become a better man for him. sanji thinks zoro is the ideal man (he’ll never tell him this though) and doesn’t have to deal with his family drama bc he can “solve it himself” they fight, their screams are heard by the whole ship who is all negatively effected by it. they come to the point of throwing punches (something sanji would never do outside of this intense monent). zoro grabs sanji by them shirt, gets sanji down on his knees, and is hitting him in the face. sanji stops hitting him back and breaks down crying, zoro sees this and stops being angry instantly.
“why can’t you just let me help you”, zoro wants to understand.
sanji’s sobs echo through the room his nose running with blood and tears, “ i never thought i was worthy of being saved.”
zoro’s eyes widen. sanji gasps out through tears, “im sorry”.
something breaks within zoro, he kneels to sanji’s level, and holds him tightly as he sobs into his neck
“i’m sorry too. you are worth more to me than you could ever think.”
zoro take’s sanji’s face into his rough calloused hands, wiping away the blood and tears, “let me me be there for you”.
i swear this prompt grabbed my brain cells and SPRINTED bcs this was slightly more than 1.6k words,,, thank you anon 🤭🤌🏼
Zoro catches a heel to the jaw, lets it whip his head to the side and rolls as he hits the deck.
His blood is a metallic bloom in his mouth, rose-red as it splatters across the planks and drips from his chin. He’s half sure he just lost a tooth. He’s very sure he bit his tongue.
He thinks he rather deserves this pain, even if he’s not exactly sure why.
It had started when they were back on the Sunny, after the whole shitshow on Whole Cake Island; Zoro had paced about the deck, strung tight as a tripwire, still itching with the urge to look over his shoulder and around the corners and unwilling to take his hand off Wado’s hilt.
He’d retreated to the men’s quarters alone, too wound up to seek out Sanji’s usual company as waited his turn for the shower and then scrubbed until his skin turned raw. He’d changed into clean clothes and lay down on his bed, put his hands behind his head, tried to breath in time with the gentle rocking of the ocean and found something still binding his lungs tight.
He was safe. They were safe. And yet, it had still felt like his skin was crawling.
After tossing and turning for a good twenty minutes he’d given up trying to fall asleep and hauled himself out of bed, trudging to the galley for a glass (or a bottle, more like) of whatever liquor he could get his hands on. The ship had swayed as he’d grabbed a half-filled bottle of scotch, bumping the door shut properly with his hip because he knew Sanji was finicky about it.
He’d hesitated before going back to the shared cabin. His bed hadn’t been the only one empty, and there was cigarette smoke rising from the helm.
Sanji had barely reacted when he’d settled beside the cook, elbows propped on the railing as he took a swig of his drink. It went down easy; everything Sanji had always did. Some nights Zoro found himself wishing for more of a burn if only to help him feel something.
He’d eyed Sanji out of the edge of his vision, tongueing behind his canines as he noticed the way the cook’s hair was all over his face, more so than usual. Both his eyes— no, not his eyes, Zoro had realised. Both his eyebrows were covered—
And it had sunk in slowly, like a lead weight to the bottom of the ocean.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he’d muttered, half to the mouth of his bottle, and Sanji had sighed.
“What do you mean, marimo?”
“You know what I mean.”
And Sanji had. He’d tilted his head, taking in a bracing breath, lips pinched in something that was supposed to be a smile. “Not your battle to fight.”
“That’s bullshit and you know it,” Zoro had snarled, suddenly angry, and it made him dig his nails into the peeling paper label beneath his fingers. “You— We do this shit together, curly, that’s what we agreed—”
And Sanji had turned away silently, pushing off the railing and walking off to God knew where, and Zoro had grabbed his wrist before he’d realised what he was doing.
“Do you just not trust me?” he’d gritted, desperation sharpening his tongue, a little voice wailing in his head and sounding a bit too much like his younger self for his liking.
Sanji had barked a laugh, burning his cigarette down to a stub in one long inhale. “Now that’s bullshit.”
“Then? What?” I’d do anything, is what he hadn’t said. Anything for you to let me in. Let me help.
“It’s not your fight, alright? Just leave it.”
Zoro had wanted to scream, just a little. He’d been distantly aware that his grip was in danger of crushing the bottle but he hadn’t cared at all. Sanji had shoved him away when he hadn’t let the matter go (because how could he?), and he’d shoved back, and then it had escalated until they were fighting across the deck and now—
He snaps out of his head when Sanji screams, a ragged thing torn out of his chest, abandoning all reason to tackle him bodily to the ground. Zoro stumbles and hits the deck hard, pain flaring sharp as his elbow jams into the ground and a fist sinks into his gut. He’s snarling as he rolls them over, as he pins Sanji’s wrists to the ground and lets out a grunt when a kneecap catches him beneath the ribs.
“Why can’t you just stay out of it?!” Sanji yells, right in his face, hair a mess and eyes wilder than Zoro has ever seen up close.
He falters. Just for a moment, but it’s more than enough for Sanji to slip out of his grip and wriggle away, and the pit in his gut grows ever larger. “They hurt you! They were hurting you!” he roars, scrambling to his feet, and it rather feels like someone has a crushing hand wrapped around his heart.
“It doesn’t matter!” the cook cries, swinging a fist towards his face, and Zoro dodges. Sidesteps, slams a foot down behind Sanji’s kneecaps and slugs his knuckles across a pale cheek if only to snap Sanji out of whatever the fuck is going on, he raises his fist again and—
Freezes. Bile crawls up his throat as his heart sinks. Sanji’s eyes are wet, so blue they’re nearly glowing in the darkness, and Zoro is so, so tired. He vaguely registers the rest of the crew behind them and he angles his body to hide Sanji from view; he knows the cook would hate their nakama seeing him like this. The hand he has wrapped in Sanji’s collar loosens, falling away like fluttering paper, and he drops to his knees with a heavy thunk.
Sanji shudders, and Zoro feels sick. His — he doesn’t know what they are, but Sanji is his — cook’s cheekbone is already bruising, blooming purple-pink, and guilt sinks its claws into his stomach. “Why can’t you just let me help you?” he hears himself plead, breathless and choked, and Sanji smiles with blood across his teeth.
“Because I never thought I was worthy of being saved,” he whispers, looking down at his trembling hands. There are tears dripping off his chin now, luminous streaks down his face that suddenly looks haggard in the starlight. “And I never wanted you to see me like this.”
Zoro thinks he breaks. Shatters right apart like the bottle of scotch on the ground not far away from them, amber seeping sticky into the wood. He’d have to apologise to Franky later, he thinks a little wildly, throat tight and fingers numb as he reaches out to pull Sanji to him.
The cook goes slack like a puppet off strings, hiding his face in the crook of Zoro’s neck as he really starts to cry. Zoro sits back on his heels and takes his weight, cards a hand through his hair so that it doesn't stick because he knows that Sanji would make a fuss about it being all over his face later, and it’s these tiny, trivial things that wrench a hollow sound from his lungs. “There’s no such thing as it not being my fight, you hear me?” It comes out more watery that he likes, but the laugh-sob Sanji lets out tells him the message got across. “If it’s your fight, it’s my fight. I’m with you till the end no matter what happens.”
“It’s pathetic,” Sanji hiccups, shoulders hitching as he tries to get himself under control.
“No, it’s not.”
“I’m pa—”
“Don’t you dare finish that sentence,” Zoro hisses, at odds with the way he rubs a soothing palm over Sanji’s back. His knees are starting to hurt. He doesn’t care. “They hurt you. They put you through some fucked-up shit, cook, and then you had to go through it again. And you were strong enough to make it out but you— You could stand to give it a rest, alright?”
It’s times like this when he wishes he could be better with words, because Sanji looks a little like he might start crying all over again when Zoro takes a peek at his face. He presses his thumbs flat to wet skin, salt cooling in the night wind, dragging up along Sanji’s cheek as the cook sniffs. “Let me be there for you,” he rasps.
He feels like he’s been scraped raw from the inside out. Like someone had hollowed him out with a ladle and now his guts were spilling all across the deck. He doesn’t know how to describe the twisting in his chest when he thumbs rust-red iron away from Sanji’s bottom lip, regretfully cups the spill of colour spreading over the right side of his face. “Look at me?” he tries again, and Sanji does, fine lashes clumped with tears and inhale trembling.
“I’m sorry,” he gasps, and Zoro is an open wound, raw and weeping as Sanji climbs into his lap and curls up into a ball.
“You are worth so much. To the crew, to our friends—You’re worth more to me than you could ever know. So shut up and stop trying to deal with it alone,” he says in lieu of a reply, achingly quiet. He hopes it’s enough as Sanji digs lithe fingers into his shoulder.
He welcomes the pain like an old friend. Bears it gladly, for if he could take all of Sanji’s he would.
But he can’t— So he tries. Tries to be gentle, as much as he knows how, sits properly and folds his legs and rocks them back and forth because it helps Sanji’s breathing even out. Traces the spirals of his eyebrows and brushes his mouth over the bruise on his cheek, presses his silent apologies into skin.
Sanji’s spine bows beneath his hands, and the cook’s fingers are wound tight into the back of his shirt like it’s a lifeline. His pale hair tickles Zoro’s jaw, impossibly mussed and starting to curl with the sea air. Their crew is waiting. Worried, surely, but they can wait a little longer; Zoro will make it up to them.
For now, he thinks he and Sanji have earned this.
fin.

Finding You
A/N: Guys I'm here and I'm so sorry I'm a week late with this. I got a new job after losing mine a few months ago so things have been hectic lately with my schedule. All I can say is sometimes adulting SUCKS but I love money so 😭🤑
A lovely reader on AO3 had helped me realise there was an anomaly with the timeline of how Y/N and Zoro meet and all so I went through it and I thought I would go through this:
Y/N's flashback of Zoro sleeping in the forest in Chapter 3 was when they were 15 so its actually 7 years ago and not 4 years ago. I've edited this and amended the story you tell Zoro slightly in Chapter 5 to correct this so my apologies for not finding this sooner. I wanted to show that she had a crush on him before they officially met after he rescued her in the alley. They then turn 16, graduate school and then Zoro asks her out. They date till 18, get engaged and marry at 19. Zoro disappears a few days after this and you spend the 2, almost 2 and a half years looking for him so he's 21 and your 21.
Its sometime after Wano and Egghead doesn't exist in this "dimension" when you find him in Chapter 1 so they're just cruising right now. I wanted to match the actual One Piece ages he was before and after timeskip.
I hope this has helped clarify if anyone else was confused of the timeline but please do enjoy this chapter. Because of my new job, I'll do my very post to work and post in a timely manner. Thank you for everyones patience and support with me.
Chapter Eight Previous Next “Zoro? You okay?”
“i-I have to go, m’sorry.”
That was the last thing he said to you a week ago in the Crows Nest. You had gone through every single possible reason for why he suddenly would switch up the way he did which left you nowhere near to a conclusive answer. You were sure you’d done absolutely nothing but at the same time doubted yourself and wondered if you had done something unconsciously.
Since then, he'd practically been living in the Crows Nest. He never ate in the galley anymore, never came on the deck to hang around with anyone and you weren’t even sure if he was sticking with his once a week baths. Every time you tried to seek him out, you noticed the hint of stress in his face and would walk away in the opposite direction. Thankfully you weren’t the only one who noticed the swordsman's strange behaviour.
“Marimo is really starting to piss me off, can you believe he’s making me bring his meals to him like I’m some waiter?!” Sanji spat with annoyance as he piled nourishment onto Zoro’s breakfast plate. You knew Zoro wouldn’t have asked Sanji for food, you just understood Sanjis code of ethics when it came to making sure that every member of the crew was properly fed and nourished. You appreciated him for it.
You were one of the few who remained in the galley after breakfast, sitting with Jinbe and Usopp who were finishing off their own meals. You’d leaned forward to sit your chin on your forearms as you traced the rim of your coffee cup with your finger caught in a net of progressive overthinking of the enigma that was your husband.
“Has he really not said anything?” Usopp asked Sanji, the cook turning to face them, the plate in his hand piled high in mostly eggs, sausages and toast.
“Not a word. I swear the algae on his heads really taken over his brain.” Sanji cursed before leaving the galley, chewing on his unlit cigarette.
“Isn’t this normal for Zoro? I mean he is pretty quiet.” Jinbe asked Usopp. Since Jinbe was the most recent crewmate to join Luffy and the crew before you, it was understandable he would ask. You would have agreed with Jinbe on the fact Zoro was quiet, however, you knew better than to mistake this for just his regular self.
“When something is bothering him, he shuts down. He avoids everyone, he won’t talk, he’ll just isolate. I just can’t figure out what's bothering him.” You grumbled out before lifting your cup to take a gulp of your coffee. Setting the cup down, you realised you couldn’t hear either of them talking anymore and turned to see them both staring at you with wide eyes.
“Has he really never done this in front of you guys?” You questioned the gaping pair with a raised brow slightly mocking their owlish stares back. Jinbe shook his head as expected whereas Usopp's gaze drifted off behind you in thought. You assumed he was revisiting his album of memories with the swordsman.
“Well…there was the time on Thriller Bark when he shut himself away to train but it wasn’t anything like this.” Usopp answered cautiously, his mouth slightly turned down in slight distress. This caught your attention and your heart filled with anxiety.
“What happened?” You asked, unconsciously frowning. Usopp's gaze refocused back to yours, adjusting himself uncomfortably in his seat as he seemed hesitant to retell the story. Nonetheless, he sighed before clearing his throat to speak.
“We were on Thriller Bark where we met Brook. Brook was stuck on his old crew's ship and he couldn’t leave because his shadow being taken by the ex-warlord Gecko Moria.”
“Brook has a shadow?” You asked in surprise trying to suppress a laugh. You valued Brook as a crew member despite his panties fetish. Thankfully Nami always stepped in after he asked to put him in his place.
“I don’t even know anymore, ANYWAYS ....we managed to defeat him but another ex-warlord named Kuma came for us.We don’t know what exactly happened because Kuma knocked us out but we know Zoro got really hurt. He was unconscious for a few days after that. I think at the time we underestimated them but knowing him, he blamed himself for not being strong enough.”
Usopp clarified, his tone laced with guilt. Your heart ached at the idea of Zoro being that severely injured to that extent. You knew he didn’t care as long as he met his goal in the end even if you did reprimand him on his mentality many times over the years you both dated. You had eventually accepted it and you didn’t want to stand in his way.
“Let's just give him space and see what happens.” You spoke assuringly to the two despite your chest hammering with the anxiety of unsurety.
One Week Later
Two weeks had passed since you last heard Zoro's voice. The patient person you were two weeks ago was buried deep inside and now your patience was wearing thin along with your paranoia running rampant. You couldn’t take the silence anymore and neither could the rest of the crew.
It was the afternoon and Nami had called everyone in for a crew meeting on deck, including Zoro who had unsuccessfully attempted to blend into the background. Your eyes has locked in on him from the moment you walked in and spotted green. You also saw the obvious attempt he made to avoid looking your way as he chose to focus his gaze on the wall behind Nami.
‘Just what was so interesting about the wall you fucker?’ You thought to yourself as you leaned back in your chair in observation.
“Right guys, I called this meeting in because I came across information that there's an island nearby rumoured to have a fuck ton of treasure. We gotta make a game plan.” Nami excitedly spoke, the berries practically beaming out of her eye sockets. Reluctantly, you took your eyes away from Zoro to focus on Nami.
For about an hour, she went over and planned in detail how to navigate the island, showing you and the others the maps and other sources of information from a book she read detailing the treasure and its history.
“I also decided that not all of us can go on the island so I’m picking Zoro and Y/N to stay behind on the ship.” Nami added. From the corner of your eye, you noticed Zoro stiffen before clearing his throat to speak up.
“I’m coming with you guys, have Sanji stay on the ship with Y/N.” Zoro spoke in a low, reserved manner clearly disguising his obvious discomfort towards you. It was the first time you’d heard his voice in two weeks but hearing the words he chose only had you gritting your teeth. You took a deep breath in and decided that at that moment you couldn’t take anymore.
He had drawn your last straw.
“Oh Y/N-chan, I’d love to-” You cut off Sanji as you stood up from your seat, the feet of the chair roughly scraping against the floor boards as you paced your steps towards Zoro to now stand strong in front of him. You felt the intense gaze of the others on you but ignored it, the anger you felt overpowered your rationality.
“Whats your fucking problem?” You spat out as you looked up at him.
This caught him off surprise. You could see he was trying to shift away from you but you weren’t going to allow him to get out of this. You moved in tandem with him whenever he attempted to get away from you only to have him give up and stay glued to the wall behind him.
“I ain’t got no problem-”
“Bullshit. You’ve been avoiding me for the past two weeks. In fact, you’ve been avoiding ALL of us.”
“You’re being dramatic.”
“No I’m fucking not.” You somehow got even closer, your chest practically touching his as you felt his body heat against you.
“She's really not Zoro, did something happen between you two?” Nami asked cautiously behind you.
“Did I do something?”
He could see you were frustrated with him and he could see he was only hurting you more than he wanted to.
‘I’m sorry….’ He thought as he looked at you, the guilt overwhelming him.
Whilst he didn’t appreciate the questioning from you and the heavy gazes of everyone, he will admit he had isolated himself from you. It wasn’t because you did anything to him personally and it wasn’t because he started rejecting your presence on the ship; by far you'd been patient with him by letting him be. The persistent questioning he got from the others, especially the shitty cook despite being appreciative of him bringing his meals to him only to be met with silence from him only fueled his guilt. Since the discovery of his feelings for you, he felt overwhelmed. Being around you distracted him. He felt the want to be with you but at the same time, his mind shielded him from you as if he was protecting himself from you. He prided himself in being strong minded and he felt frustrated with himself over how he could possibly feel this way when he prided himself in being strong minded. He could only theorise that this mental block with you had to do with the guy who’d wiped his memory.
‘Was his named Edward? Ethan? Whatever, it didn’t matter.’
He knew he was being a dick by staying away from you but he didn’t know what else to do. The moment he accepted his feelings for you, he’d also accepted what felt like an overwhelming burden in his stomach. He felt panic, a feeling he hadn’t felt in a long time. He left you in the Crows Nest, remembering the feeling of not being able to breathe. This was why Zoro did not do feelings; they were complicated.
“You didn’t do anyth-”
“Then why have you been avoiding me?” You persistently questioned, the frustration brimming in your eyes.
“I’m done with this, I’m leaving.” He felt his heart climbing up into his throat with you being so close to him.
“Oh no you don’t, you’re not getting out of this one.”
You made an impulse decision out of anger. With your free hand, you summoned a hole behind Zoro. You pictured the very island where you spent time training yourself with your devil fruit, knowing it was quiet and you wouldn’t be disturbed. The hole behind him had formed and Zoro had realised too late he was no longer leaning against solid and fell through the smoke of clouds that enveloped him.
You turned to the others who were gaping at you in shock. Even Luffy stayed glued to his seat with no attempt to jump through the cloud of smoke.
“I’ll bring him back tomorrow.” You huffed out before going through the hole yourself.
As you landed in the sand of the island, you looked up to see the hole you summoned. You then looked around to see your surroundings. The island hadn’t changed one bit; the wave of nostalgia hit as you breathed in the smell of the sand and sea, the lingering scent of greenery coming from the forest coming into the mix as well. If you looked around again, you’d be able to find the rock you carved the last date you were here before leaving to continue your search for Zoro.
You purposefully summoned the hole on the empty side of the island, choosing to leave the small population of habitants to the other side undisturbed. They were peaceful people and had even shared a few meals with you from time to time whenever a few of them found you exhausted from exertion after training. They knew you well and that you didn’t pose a threat, choosing to peacefully coexist with them.
Once closed, the anger still ever present in your system you looked around to spot Zoro sitting in the sand as he looked around taking his surroundings.
“Wh-where are-?”
“You gonna talk or what?” You aggressively asked.
Zoro was now angry. He didn’t want to fight with you, he just wanted to piece together his feelings and rebuild his courage to be around you. He wasn’t ready to face you and being here with you only made him feel worse.
He stood up from the sand and stomped over to stand over you, pushing the bile from his thumping heart back down his throat.
“What…the FUCK…were you thinking? Why would you do that? Do you realise without me there, you’ve put the others in danger? Take us back NOW.”
“First of all, step the fuck back and calm down. Second of all, they’ll be fine. Third of all, were not going anywhere until we sort whatever the fucks gone up your ass and died.” You said as you matched his energy.
“Fuck this, I’m out.” Zoro refused to admit anything. He couldn’t. He turned away from you and began walking.
“Roronoa Zoro, come back here now.” You ordered him as you followed behind.
“No. Piss off.” He called back as he continued stomping.
“Zoro, stop.” You shouted, your voice almost broke as your anger now turned into hurt.
“Leave me alone Y/N.”
“WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?” You now cried out. You couldn’t stop the tears and the lump in your throat as you stared at his back.
Zoro stopped at the sound of your voice breaking. He frowned at the thought of you upset, his heart ached but he couldn’t turn around.
“I’m not doing anything to you Y/N. I just need space.” He spoke regretfully before he continued walking again and turned left heading into the forest. You stood still as you watched him walk away.
“Fuck.” You whispered to yourself, taking your palm to rub against your forehead in frustration and then using the back of your hand to wipe your tears away. You hated crying, you’d always felt so weak. No matter how much you try to control it, the tears always win. You decided to sit, digging yourself further into the sand before leaning back to let it envelop you.
You breathed in, allowing yourself to take in the sound of the waves crashing against the damp sand. You didn’t realise how much you missed being back on land. You loved being on the Sunny, you really did but sometimes allowing yourself to be grounded for a bit always helped.
You let your hands moved with the sand, feeling the softness of it between your fingers. You clenched the sand into your palms finding the action soothing and allowing the anger you’d felt seep into each particle.
What were you going to do with Zoro?
————————————- ⚔️✨ ————————————
A few hours had passed and you found yourself waking up from a nap you had unconsciously taken. You noticed the sun was beginning to lower, you predicted you had a few hours left before nightfall. You sighed before getting up from the sand, swiping off the residue of sand that was left on your clothes and turned to face the direction Zoro left you from. You were grateful the island was small and you knew it wouldn’t take you long to track down the lost swordsman.
As you were about to start walking, you felt a presence lurking near you. You stiffened before smiling and realising there was more than one and posed no danger.
“How long have you guys been there for?” You called out. You turned to find a small group of what you assumed were hunters gathering food. The group consisted of three men and one woman.
“Y/N, are you okay?” One of the male hunters asked.
“I’m fine don’t worry…you didn’t happen to see a green haired guy with three swords roaming around?” You queried. You didn’t know them personally but you assumed the few that did check in on you when you were training spread the word to the others of your existence.
“He’s sitting by the waterfall.” The female hunter softly answered. You nodded as you brought the memorised path to the area up into your mind to plan out your short walk.
“Thank you, don’t mind us. We’ll be gone tomorrow.” You promised before you began making your way to him. A short walk through the forest and your feet found you at the beginning of a small lake. As you continued, your eyes caught the waterfall and the blue hues of water falling over into the lake. You looked around and soon enough your eyes caught on a head of green hair. You frowned at his slouched demeanor, noticing his eye was lost in the water and in thought. You took a quick breath in before continuing your walk to now stand near the swordsman. You noticed his body stiffened as you felt your presence before slouching back, his eye not breaking out of his lost gaze.
“Zoro…I.”
“Don’t speak.”
Your mouth closed into a straight line, the words ‘I’m sorry’ stuck at the tip of your tongue. You felt like you stood for eternity but just a few short minutes later and you decided to find a seat on the grass near him. Your eyes followed his and soon enough you were also lost in the water with him. Apart from the sounds of the water crashing into the lake and the gentle calls from the birds in the trees, the angst between the both of you laid thick.
As you watched the water, you were reminded of how much you missed swimming and the ability to just float. You had thankfully never fallen into the ocean since obtaining your devil fruit but the thought of sinking struck fear in you. You missed the feeling of saltwater soaking into your skin, letting your fingertips wrinkle and allowing your mind to wonder and be free. Sure you were able to shower in non-sea water but it just wasn’t the same.
Time had passed and the sky had turned into a deep hue of orange indicating the end of daylight. The forest had begun to fill out with fireflies, adding to the ambiance and giving light to where you both sat. You knew you’d have to start a fire and look for food soon but you couldn’t find the will to do so yet.
You had decided to scoot closer to the edge of the lake, allowing yourself to indulge in the only closeness you can have to water.
“You ain’t plannin to jump in right?”
Hearing his voice shook you out of thought, you shook your head to answer his question.
Zoro had every right to be pissed at you but seeing the sadness in your face made him feel guilty for letting himself behave like a teenager for hours. This was his fault after all but admitted he let his pride get the better of him.
“Why’re you moping?”
“I’m not moping..I’m just remembering how much I enjoyed swimming and just being in the ocean.” You confessed, pouting and allowing yourself to lean on your hand.
“I thought you didn’t regret-”
“I don’t regret anything. I’m allowed to feel sad.” You snapped.
He allowed silence to fill the space between the both of you for a moment before he made an anxiety-consuming decision that would definitely change everything.
“You wanna go in?” Zoro softly asked.
You turned to face him, surprise evident in your face.
“That's impossible, I’ll just feel weak and sink.” You answered.
“Not if I’m holding you.” Zoro said.
“I thought you were avoiding me, now you wanna hold me?” You questioned back.
“Answer my question; you want to go in yes or no?” Zoro bit back with slight annoyance at you being argumentative.
You bit your lip to stop yourself from going into a tangent, turning to look back at the water before nodding.
From seeing your physical consent, Zoro stood up and began to strip. You visibly blushed and let your gaze turn away from him refusing to turn it into ogling. He brought himself into your line of vision as he walked forward and stepped into the water, waiting with his back turned to you at the edge to allow you privacy. You were able to see he was just left in his boxers. You stared for a bit before finding your brevity and beginning to strip until you were just in your underwear and bra. You walked a few steps forward until you stood just behind him but you hadn’t stepped in the water yet.
“Am I okay to pick you up?” Zoro cautiously asked, his back still facing you.
“y-Yeah you can.”
Zoro turned around, pushing back his raging heartbeat and ignoring the growing heat in his skin before scooping you into his arms bridal style and slowly walking back into the lake until he was halfway submerged. You relished in the warmth of his skin and you hadn’t realised just how much you missed his presence.
“If it gets too much for you, tell me and I’ll take you back.” Zoro’s voice almost broke. He was currently fighting back the blush that had threatened to consume his wholebeing as he avoided looking down at your naked body. It wasn’t like he hadn’t seen a naked woman before, heck Nami and Robin walked around the ship in practically nothing and it never once bothered him. Seeing you see this way; shy and almost vulnerable gave a completely different meaning to it. He couldn’t fathom anyone else seeing you like this and the mere idea of any man seeing you this way made his skin itch and his temper rise.
He hadn’t even allowed himself to be consumed in the lust-filled thoughts he had of you since his recent awakening of feelings he had for you. He felt too much respect for you to subject you to his internal needs. He didn’t even know if you both even consummated the marriage before he disappeared but refused to go down the tangent of thoughts surrounding it.
He slowly began to lower you into the water, allowing the flow of the water to cover your legs and your arms. You gasped at the sudden coolness of the water, immediately feeling the weakness of the ocean consume you. Rather than fighting the weakness, you allowed it to sit as you relished in the feeling of the cool water and Zoro’s body heat.
“You okay?”
“Thank you Zoro.” You quietly spoke, grateful to him.
His concern alone was enough for you to choke on a sob. You were overwhelmed.
“Why did you avoid me?” You weakly asked, allowing yourself to cry.
“M’sorry.” Zoro mumbled back as he bit the inside of his cheek.
“I don’t want a sorry…I want an answer.”
Zoro said nothing. He didn’t know how to confess his feelings to you. He couldn’t even begin to explain or know where to start with talking about what was wrong with him. Seeing you broken hurt him badly and he knew he couldn’t let this go on anymore.
‘Show her.’
A small voice in his head spoke. He frowned at the intrusion of the voice.
‘Show her how you feel.’
He looked down to see you looking back up at him. The yearning he felt to hold you closer, the want to be with you overtook him.
He decided to listen to the foreign voice, putting his anxiety to one side as he leaned forward and pressed his lips to yours in a chaste kiss.

Zosan Au- Pearl Divers
(Request from @sampaisleyriot, I strayed from your idea a little bit sorry 😭)
• The Going Merry crew consisted of Luffy- the Captain, Nami- the navigator and Usopp- the mechanist and “protector”.
• Luffy had also found two pearl divers, named Zoro and Sanji. Unfortunately, they didn’t seem to get along much.
• “I want to offer one of you a six month contract. So, you’ll have to compete to show me which one of you I should choose.” Hearing this, they both eyed up their opposition, scoffed and agreed to the challenge.
• Sanji flirts with Nami as she steers them across the ocean. Zoro rolls his eyes and settles into a nap despite the noisy engine.
• Luffy soon calls for the anchor to be set down as he peers off the edge of the bow, which had a strange goat head on it.
• As Sanji gets into his white diving costume, Zoro opts only for a tiny pair of shorts which causes the blond’s breath to be caught in his throat.
• “You ready to watch a professional, cook?” Zoro taunts as he pulls on his leather finger guards and slides on his nose clip.
• Sanji cackles at his voice change due to the nose clip and replies, “We’ll see whether you’ve got any brains under that moss.”
• Usopp lets out a cough and hands them their rope baskets for collecting oysters and stone weights for bringing them to the sea bed.
• Then they both dive in and their competitive nature grows. Zoro’s advantage lies in his upper body strength, while Sanji’s toned legs make him glide quickly through the water.
• Despite the opportunity at stake, they aren’t stupid and regularly check that the other hasn't somehow drowned.
• On one of his trips to the surface, Sanji spots Usopp fishing on the port side. He’s about to offer to make Nami a refreshing drink when Luffy yells affectionately-
• “Sanji! Get back to work!”
• They take a couple of longer breaks, where they enjoy dates and coffee. Sanji smacks Zoro’s hand away from the Saké in the cooler.
• Zoro likes how the saltwater makes Sanji’s hair frizzy and curly.
• As the sun goes down, they both shuck their own oysters and let Nami count them. Zoro cuts the fish caught by Usopp for Sanji to cook. Luffy happily chatters.
• “Even! You got an equally small amount of pearls, but at least we can keep the meat to eat,” proclaims Nami.
• “Nami-Swan, how would you like a pearl necklace? I think-“
• “Luffy, you don’t want a pervert on your crew do you? You should just make your decision now.” Zoro fires out.
• “I am simply appreciating her beauty. You don’t get to insult me while you’re happily eating my cooking!” Sanji retorts.
• Over the next couple of days, they continue this routine. The crew becomes increasingly close and comfortable with each other.
• Sanji comments how Zoro’s body is exposed to stingrays and Zoro replies that he doesn’t need to worry about his body.
• When Luffy accidentally falls into the ocean, Sanji jumps in and saves him.
• At one point, they both spot the same oyster. Glancing over to one another, they make angry eye contact and immediately race towards it.
• Zoro reaches it first and swoops it up, only for Sanji to kick him and take it from his basket. The mosshead wraps his arms around his waist and drags him down. Sanji kicks free and swims to the surface, with Zoro’s hand on his oyster.
• They gasp for air as Nami reprimands them for their stupid antics. In the evening, they discover that the oyster was pearl-less anyway.
• When it’s finally time for Luffy to sign one of them on, both are on edge. This contract is a dream come true.
• “I won’t make you wait any longer. I’m signing you both on! Welcome to the Straw hat crew!”
• Zoro’s eyebrows rise and Sanji’s furrow.
• “We’re not actually calling ourselves that, are we?” says Nami.
• “Alright! I won’t ever actually have to go pearl diving then? Because I might have slightly lied when I was listing my skills.” Usopp scratches the back of his neck with a grin.
• “Guess you’re stuck with me, Marimo.” Sanji sings as he shakes Luffy’s hand.
• “I’ll pick up the slack whenever your little arms get tired, bastard.” Zoro gets an immediate kick to the face.
• A few months later, after they get together, they definitely try an underwater kiss and it is awful.
• Zoro gives Sanji pearl cufflinks as a gift at some point.

Drowned song
"Sit still!” Sanji snapped at him as he grabbed his still bleeding ankle. “Tch, cutting your own feet off, what were you thinking?” Sanji grumbled. Before Zoro could explain himself, he heard a familiar voice, but the song was different as Sanji began to stitch up his wound.
“What the hell curly! I thought these damn preals would stop us from being affected by your song!” Zoro yanked his foot back with a hiss as he took the needle with him.
“Negatively affected Marimo, this is a healing song. It won't heal you completely. Maybe one day it will be able to, but this is the first time I'm using it.” The blonde huffed before taking his bleeding foot back. Zoro watched as Sanji went back to stitching up his ankle, the sticks jagged and uneven but better than what he could have done himself. “Other foot,” the blonde ordered as he tied and cut the string.
“What are the different songs?” Zoro asked as he watched and listened while Sanji worked, his blonde head bent over his bleeding foot.
“Thires your basic Lure that traps people or entices them, I trapped both you and the fishmen I killed. That the first one you learn is instinctive. There's a song of Joy, when I go for a swim I use it to bring prosperity to the local area. It's said you can bring spring froth early with the song, but I don't know for sure. It's a song of Healing, which I'm trying to use on you. The song of sleep, I'm sure that's self explanatiory. The song of Destruction witch I've never used, it causes someone to go mad, and it was said to bring about the end…look alot of this I can only speak of based what my mom told me in hushed whispers. Thires much I don't know. “
“I don't know what I am,” Zoro admitted, filling the silence that fell after the siren had stopped speaking. Only his song had filled the void left behind. “I only remember that my mother had horns like my own and that my father didn't. They both died when I was young, raised in a dojo with a bunch of other boys, and there was no one else like me. I don't know what I am capable of, but I know that I'll become the world's greatest swordsman with my own strength and determination. The grandline is vast. Who knows, maybe we will learn more the more we travel.”
“Hmp who knew you had a brain under all that grass you call hair.” Sanji finally looked up at and smikered before reaching up to ruffel Zoros hair.
“Shut up!” Zoro braked at him, turning his head to hide the flush on his face as the cook laughed at him. The sound made his stomach swoop, and his face turned red. He wanted to hear it again. The laugh was so loud in his ears as the song had stopped.
“Now get your filthy feet off me, I'm done stitching them up.”
