I love the idea that each of the Mystery Skulls mess with technology in their own way, especially recording equipment.

Vivi's active use of magic interferes with microphones of all kinds just by being in the proximity.

Mystery loves to make visual illusions in front of cameras.

So late last night during movie night with some friends, I fell asleep during Jurassic Park and woke up to them watching an animation of Velma meets Remake Velma.

Yeah, just in time to see what I can only describe as SonicEXE Creepypasta Scooby Doo.

It talks like a man, it stands like a man, it has trapped increasingly smaller pieces of the Gang's souls in an endless cycle of hell in a sad attempt to preserve the delight and wonder of their first existence together.

Me being me, I dreamed Horror Monster Scooby meeting Mystery from Mystery Skulls Animated. For obvious reasons, the two supernatural animals fought.

Mystery is kind of his polar opposite: it walks like a dog, moves like a dog, as far as we can tell doesn't speak. But he cares so much about those he has grown attached to that he will do everything to make sure they're safe. Also his 'unleashed' form is a full fledged kitsune that still doesn't look as unnerving as Horror Monster Scooby.

I know the normal version of Scooby has been crossed over to death but imagine if it was that version.

Ember crashes the concert of a band playing many miles away from Amity Park, trying to take over. Several things happen.

A) None of the band members react to her music.

B) The woman with the blue hair rapidly and cheerily asks her questions as she’s swinging a baseball bat at her. Ember made the mistake before to think it wouldn’t connect.

C) The big guy with the pompadour is a ghost. He reminds her a bit of Skulker, but he’s actually skeletal and it creeps her out a bit. He’s also very powerful, blasts fire at her, and his powers cancel her brainwashing.

D) She tries overshadowing the blond guy. A paw swipes at her head before she can. As she whirls around from where she was slammed into a wall, any attack or retort dies on her lips as she faces a massive maw.

E) The blond guy electrocutes her. He somehow electrocutes her, pointing a screwdriver at her with his one arm!!

Ember flies off. Nobody told her that there's ghost hunters with magic out there! And that there’s a ghost with them!!

Tis the season for a Mystery Skulls Animated reblog!

I’ve just released a whole bunch of Mystery Skulls Animated stickers on Red Bubble now available at www.redbubble.com/people/art-expression As for why there are so many, well it was my initial plan to produce a single page of eight for each main character but halfway through the project I suddenly realised that Red Bubble would very likely shrink the entire page down to a minuscule size so better to release each design individually. Besides, a friend pointed out to me that seeing as I had genuinely eight ideas for each character, I would of gone crazy trying to narrow them down to, say, three and wouldn’t of stopped thinking about the ones that I hadn’t drawn so better to just carry on, draw them all and let my customers make their own decisions on exactly which ones they liked and how many to buy! We still need to learn and fast. And get a better boat. But while we do that, I can get us around with comfort and style.

Vivi: *with stars in her eyes* That's sooooo cool!

Arthur: *grinning with excitement* That's definitely cool. I bet the inside has everything we need to stay comfortable from your words.

Lewis: It sure does. But I have a feeling I'll strain my powers often here. We will need to restock the old-fashioned way, too. But I have no idea what necessities a boat should have when you're out on the open sea.

Vivi: Leave that to me and Mystery! We're very good at research and being stealthy. I want to know more about those 'Demon Fruits'. They could provide the information we need to return home.

Lewis: Apropos- Should we need stealth, I can modify the outside to look like any other ship. Marines, traders, a shipwreck...

Vivi: *nudges his side* Or make it invisible, right? *wraggling her eyebrows*

Lewis: *exaggerated gasp* You wound me! Which ghost would not include invisibility with a haunted ship?

Vivi: I'll add sketch books to our shopping list so that you can practice visualizing the designs.

Arthur: I'll go check out how we can make money. Lewis is right. We can't solely rely on his powers. And we'll not always have that much luck to find a sunken treasure chest that just happens to contain swatches of the local currency.

Mystery: Lewis could draw portraits and sell those. He has the skill to enthrall many people. Under an alias, of course.

Lewis: Oh, right. What do we do about our appearances? Vivi's the only one so far who's gotten a Wanted Poster-

Arthur: Which is still so weird and creepy. How did they get that photo of her?!

Lewis: -and the cameras here don't seem to work me, too. But even if we're not notorious and stay on the down-low, we might get attention we don't want. Which is weird to think about since- OMG, GUYS, GUYS. WE HAVE THE CHANCE TO BE LIKE SAILOR MOON AND HAVE SECRET IDENTITIES.

Arthur: I've encountered yokai and ghosts and demons. But it's seeing a guy disperse and reform from smoke that makes my brain hurt.

Mystery: Vivi, you've been holding that Devil Fruit for several minutes now. Are you alright?

Vivi: I'm trying to get a reading of this thing. It's definitely not a normal fruit, but I can't tell what kind of magic it is either. Maybe if I had a second one to compare with...

Oh, right. These things are incredibly valuable and rare. Either protected until it's sold or somebody eats it. We were lucky to find this one. Damn it!

Mystery: *puts a paw onto it* One thing for certain is that it is powerful. To have things like this exist, that give you a variety of powers with only just a bite of them...

Arthur: Half of these people are physically stronger than Lewis, right?

Lewis: I can throw them around but it doesn't do anything to keep them down. It's a weird feeling.

Arthur: The same number is also stronger than Mystery?

Mystery: As much as I loathe to admit it. They're not even the strongest people around. *grouses*

Arthur: And if we get into a prolonged fight with them, their numbers means there's a very high chance that Lewis' attention will slip or he'll tire out, leaving an opening to capture us on the ship. Or that they hurt or kill either Mystery, Vivi, or me directly.

Vivi: Very much so.

Mystery: Unacceptable.

Lewis: What he said.

Arthur: Mystery Skulls. Since we're not dealing with our usual brand of the supernatural, and nothing else is keeping us here... What do you think about leaving this shithow? Like... vanishing under their feet?

Vivi: Ohhh, yes. We are on a ghost ship, are we not? A ship that our Lewlew is steering.

Lewis: Artie, I love the way you think. I'll add just one modification.

Outside: *Marine soldiers of different ranks yell as they drop, because the ship's deck they were on is gone; deeply confused they hit the decks of their own ship*

Random marine: What happened???

Other marine: Where's the pirate ship? It's just gone!

Lewis: I've been experimenting. I now can manipulate the space on top of my constructs, too, not only within. It makes for dramatic escapes.

Mystery: That will be useful. Where did you set up this time?

Lewis: One of the small closets where they store the washing soap.

Vivi: *snickers* I know they won't find us, but I'm imagining the poor man's face who goes to fetch the soap and the drawer opens to a luxurious bathroom.

Lewis: Don't tempt me. I want to prank these guys after this mess, but I don't want any of those stronger marines close.

Arthur: Just let the Deadbeats drop us off some miles away and go our merry way.

Arthur: ... You know what, please forget everything I said. The Deadbeats will cause mischief AND transport us at the same time.

Voice: Ahem.

Marine: What- Urgh. *turns as white as a paper sheet as he comes face to face with Vice Admiral Garp* Ah, Vice-Admiral, this civilian is a troublemaker, I was just-

Vivi: Well, that's another way to deal with it.

Arthur: *smacks the marine upside the head with his ruined prosthesis*

Mystery: *in human disguise, as a trader* It seems that the local Marine base has a problem with internal discipline, has it not?

Garp: And training, Ma'am. *grabs marine by the lapel from the ground* I remember telling you to shape up or face the consequences. I see neither improvement in conduct nor in strength. What does it say about you that a 'civilian troublemaker' effortlessly fought you off?

Vivi: Mystery, I love you and appreciate that you went to get help. But did you have to get one of the highest ranking officials and strongest people of this world involved?

Arthur: Of the very organization which is hunting us after they branded us as pirates?

Mystery: It worked, didn't it? And meeting that man gave me important information:

Garp: *somewhere else, before* Where the fuck did this lady go? It's as if she's never existed.

Mystery: I can vanish from whatever skill he and likely others used to track us before. I'd wager the same goes for Lewis. And if I can do it once, I can do it again.

Murder Mystery is circling him like Mystery is prey. The eyes on his tails seem look at Mystery as well as Murder Mystery's eyeballs.

The markings on his tails, with the eyes, also look a bit like arrows. All of them point at Mystery. It adds to the feeling that he's been hunting and now has cornered him.

It just seemed right to post this on Halloween
