Could this perhaps be an inevitable and unfortunate consequence of the entire gaming industry piggybacking on a system that requires infinite spending and/or grinding with an emphasis on repeating content forever?!

To say nothing of how quickly such games usually crash and burn with the servers quickly being shutdown a year or two afterwards.

How could this happen?

Should we perhaps abandon this model and tell the companies that nobody has infinite money or time?

AND that such a model is completely unsustainable even in the long run?

"edwerd hands" the fake YA book I was reading in my dream last night was pretty fun to me because it was about a young man in a really contrived world of boats in tiered pool oceans (?) singularly fleeing people trying to shoot at him. being implicitly about LGBT self discovery while he escapes some situations by the help of a personal genie/spirit? he has who communicates by pressing words into his lips and who has a second aspect that's 100% identical but a woman. (melted a pirate into liquid with this.) it was adapted from a nonexistent phoebe bridgers album which was going to have a second part released after the book; I've never listened to her music
