What are your thoughts on the p̶o̶o̶k̶i̶e̶s̶ robots from the Electric State trailer?
I’ll do you better, my thoughts on every robot seen in the trailer :D
Herman, voiced by Anthony Mackie: interesting advanced design, most step away from Simon’s design philosophy if it weren’t for the cartoon hands he has, yet to understand how he can shift sizes though, like to see that explained
Cosmo, voiced by Alan Tudyk: The best character design ever, the most faithful adaptation of Simon’s art. Not excited that he’s going to be speaking, but interested on whatever advertisement dialogue he has pre-programmed
Giant cat robot: a unique robot, only seen in the art of the recent ttrpg. It’s still fitting to the world with how many huge robots exist as disfunctioning corpses and how many exist as mash up abominations. Overall, I like it and think it’s cool
Mr. Peanut, voiced by Woody Harrelson doing a Jimmy Carter impression: absolutely the most goofiest addition in the movie. I don’t think they are going to do much with him because he’s a mascot to a real corporation, but I heard rumors he’s going to be a bad guy, so I hope that happens (can’t wait to see the nut-mobile in action)
Popfly, voiced by Brian Cox: I like how time appropriate his design is. I can absolutely see a robot baseball mascot in the 90s having that sort of design (I wonder if he swears in the movie). Yet he doesn’t seem like a mechanically advance robot, due to seemingly move via wheels
Penny Pal, voiced by Jenny Slate: adorable design, yet again, love that it feels time appropriate. Still, she seems to move around on wheels, but at least she has two arms (whereas Popfly looks like he has one arm)
nuerocaster soldiers: Usually human like robots are automatically boring to me, but I like how they share a similar head shape to the nuerocaster devices the humans use, adds some relevant connection to their function and what the nuerocaster were originally used for. I also like how they fly around with a silly propellers on their backs.
Those weird cigarette-shaped robots at the end: They silly
Overall, pretty decent translation to film

you are the new casting director for this star-studded epic. choose your players wisely.
Previously cast:
Jonathan Harker—Jimmy Stewart
The Old Woman—Martita Hunt

Mr. Swales—Ed Wynn
The Correspondent for The Daily Graph—Ethel Waters

My Long Road From Truman to Trump
I’ve been a Democrat since 1948, when I was 10. But I can no longer abide what my old party has become.
By Bartle Bull Sr. -- Wall Street Journal
I’ve been an outspoken Democrat since 1948, when I was the only student in my fifth-grade class to “vote” for Harry Truman. It’s been astonishingly difficult to disclose that next month I will vote for Donald Trump.
Like many, I will be doing so in the European way, voting for a party and its issues, rather than in the American way of supporting someone I like. When I have expressed my views—on economics, security and cultural matters—long-time liberal friends have said, “You sound like Trump, or some uneducated hillbilly.” Ignoring my schooling at Harvard, Oxford and the Sorbonne, these friends sound like well-meaning dilettantes, otherwise described as self-righteous, useful idiots or bien-pensant.
Such responses prompt me to compare my own liberal credentials with theirs. This makes me a difficult adversary, as I have long been an extremely useful idiot, overloaded with liberal credentials.
To name a few: In 1956 I helped coordinate Harvard Freshmen for Adlai Stevenson. Ten years later, I was arrested as a civil-rights lawyer in Hattiesburg, Miss., where Vernon Dahmer, the local head of the NAACP, had been burned alive in his house. In the same state, I later campaigned for Charles Evers for governor.
In 1968 I quit my job as a Wall Street lawyer to serve as Robert F. Kennedy’s New York campaign coordinator. In 1972, I organized the New York Citizens Committee for McGovern-Shriver. During this period, I was publisher of the Village Voice, a left-wing Manhattan newspaper. In 1976 I worked as Jimmy Carter’s New York state campaign manager, and in 1978 in South Carolina to support Charles Ravenel’s challenge to Sen. Strom Thurmond. My last Democratic Party campaign was in Harlem, backing Craig Schley, a young black reformer, in a primary against Rep. Charles Rangel. In 2008 I was chairman of New York Democrats for John McCain for President.
At the international level, in 1993-94, I volunteered in Bosnia with the International Rescue Committee to help Muslim refugees, spending Christmas Eve with Bosnian soldiers in a bunker in the mountains. In 2010, at 72, I worked in Afghanistan with the Initiative to Educate Afghan Women, going on foot patrols to girls’ schools. The Biden administration later abandoned these courageous women to the Taliban.
For a long time, like an old locomotive, I have been building steam inside when liberal friends, with the certitude and arrogance of the righteous, decry me as a “right-winger.” In a Harvard class-reunion speech many years ago, I said that “Harvard should stand up to the tyrannies of the left today the way it stood up to the tyrannies of the right in the days of Joe McCarthy.” But the progressive agenda doesn’t seem to include what Truman and John F. Kennedy considered liberal values, such as true political tolerance.
Now, as a lifelong Democrat, I am voting Republican for policy reasons, not because I like Mr. Trump. I believe my old party, as it abuses the powers of office and threatens to pack the Supreme Court and end the filibuster, now supports a government that is far too strong at home and far too weak abroad.
Mr. Bull is a writer living in upstate New York. His latest novel is “We’ll Meet Again.”

Why did Mr. Meadows squander his career, his reputation and possibly his liberty by casting his lot with Mr. Trump? He once seemed an unlikely casualty of Mr. Trump’s wrecking ball — he was a savvy politician who knew his way around the corridors of power. In fairness to Mr. Meadows, three of his predecessors also failed as Mr. Trump’s chief. “Anyone who goes into the orbit of the former president is virtually doomed,” said Jack Watson, Jimmy Carter’s former chief of staff. “Because saying no to Trump is like spitting into a raging headwind. It was not just Mission Impossible; it was Mission Self-Destruction. I don’t know why he chose to do it.” In their motion to remove the Fulton County case to federal court, the lawyers for Mr. Meadows addressed Mr. Trump’s now infamous Jan. 2, 2021, call with Georgia’s secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger — during which Mr. Meadows rode shotgun as the president cut to the chase: “All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes ….” Addressing Mr. Meadows’s role, his lawyers wrote: “One would expect a chief of staff to the president of the United States to do these sorts of things.” Actually, any competent White House chief of staff would have thrown his body in front of that call. Any chief worth his salt would have said: “Mr. President, we’re not going to do that. And if you insist, you’re going to make that call yourself. And when you’re through, you’ll find my resignation letter on your desk.” Mr. Meadows failed as Mr. Trump’s chief because he was unable to check the president’s worst impulses. But the bigger problem for our country is that his failure is a template for the inevitable disasters in a potential second Trump administration.

[Note: What the women in Afghanistan are experiencing today is not a new story. In fact, it’s one of the oldest we know. And the silence of everyone on this topic, with the exception of certain feminists, is not new either. It’s perhaps the second oldest story, as Dworkin learned from her then-president, Jimmy Carter.]
Seductive mirages of progress notwithstanding, nowhere in the world is apartheid practiced with more cruelty and finality than in Saudi Arabia. Of course, it is women who are locked in and kept out, exiled to invisibility and abject powerlessness within their own country. It is women who are degraded systematically from birth to early death, utterly and totally and without exception deprived of freedom. It is women who are sold into marriage or concubinage, often before puberty; killed if their hymens are not intact on the wedding night; kept confined, ignorant, pregnant, poor, without choice or recourse. It is women who are raped and beaten with full sanction of the law. It is women who cannot own property or work for a living or determine in any way the circumstances of their own lives. It is women who are subject to a despotism that knows no restraint. Women, locked out and locked in. Mr Carter, enchanted with his good friends, the Saudis. Mr Carter, a sincere advocate of human rights. Sometimes even a feminist with a realistic knowledge of male hypocrisy and a strong stomach cannot believe the world she lives in.

Worth the read. Mr. Carter has been an excellent example of what it means to be a good and kind person. And to think that he still wonders if he’s done enough good. If we were to follow his lead, the world would be a much more compassionate place

Mr. Carter entered hospice care one year ago Sunday, choosing to forgo further life-prolonging treatment with the intent to return to his simple home in Plains, Ga., to pass his final days in comfort and peace. As it turns out, there have been more final days than he or anyone around him anticipated.
The former president’s long goodbye has defied the odds and absorbed many around the world who have spent the last 12 months honoring his memory even as he has refused to follow anyone else’s timetable. Hospice care is meant to ease the end for both patient and family, prescribed for those with less than six months to live. About half of those who enter hospice care last no more than 17 days. A tiny fraction are still alive a year later. Mr. Carter, the only president ever to live to age 99, seems destined to keep pushing the limits.

Mickey Mouse and Friends (plus Kermit the Frog) as Smiling Friends characters - Smiling Friends and Classic Disney plus Muppets - Crossover and Cosplay - Mouseverse - Gift for my friend
After a long time and a little rest from this summer heat, I am returning to my favorite hobby, so I drew a small challenge. After American Dad, it's time for the next adult sitcom called Smiling Friends.
It is an adult cartoon series created by Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack in an American-Australian production and has been running for two years, with the first episode being four years ago. It's about two friends, Charlie Dompler and Pim Pimling, two employees of the Smiling Friends, a small charitable company dedicated to bringing joy and happiness to its clients, and they meet new colleagues and a new boss. However, they will encounter numerous problems. Now, at the request of my Discord friend, I drew Mickey and friends in roles from Smiling Friends, but in my own way. This time they find themselves in a very real and cruel world.
Donald Duck plays Charlie Dompler, an often scowling but friendly and rational man who has his best friend with whom he works in business, which is Pim Pimling and that role is played by Mickey Mouse, since he mostly cheers people up. Normally, Donald and Mickey are not friends, yet their dynamic relationship is reminiscent of that between Charlie and Pim. Allan Red is played by Goofy Goof who makes people laugh but is also tall. Glep is played by Kermit the Frog from the Muppets since Mickey and friends unfortunately don't have a frog character, so I took it from the Muppets since it's definitely part Disney. Smorma is played by James Carter as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who is Pim's rival (the background of the story is well-known and unfortunately rather difficult and sad), and the role of Jimmy Fallon is played by Horace Horsecollar, Mr. Boss is played by Sylvester Shyster (also one of Mickey Mouse's main rivals who often appears in the comics), while his son Jason is played by Mortimer Mouse. James would be played by Peg-Leg Pete, unfortunately not all characters fit in one drawing. Of course, those who watched this series will know more about it, and I recommend that you watch it, in my opinion, it's an excellent series.
I hope you like this drawing and this idea and this is a gift for my Tumblr friend who requested this @asritca. I hope you like this. I hope you like this cosplay and this crossover, just don’t use these same ideas and characters without Asritca and my permission. Thank you!

"We thought at the beginning of this process that it was going to be in five or so days. I was down there with him in the hospital and then said goodbye. And then we thought it was going to be in that week that it was coming to the end. And it's just now been seven months." -- Jason Carter, grandson of former President Jimmy Carter, on Carter defying expectations and living far longer than expected when he announced in February that he would forgo further treatment at hospitals and instead receive hospice care at his home in Plains, Georgia. President Carter will celebrate his 99th birthday on October 1st.
