This is something that always baffled me when this episode aired. Other than the Powerpuff Girls, and maybe even Betty Boop, Lisa's choices don't make a lot of sense.

Why is Miss Grundy here? Isn't she technically from the world of comics and not animation?

Why did she picked Louise Belcher? I get that Linda is an adult and Tina is a teenager, but still why?

Did the writers and animators have a limited choice of female characters in animation or didn't they even try?

I suppose it makes sense for the story. Bob Bolling puts in a poignant story regarding a retirement scare from Mr. Weatherbee. World War 1 service puts him in his seventies. And hell! Weatherbee gets to make an appearance in World War 2 while he’s at it.

But now we save the artwork and create a family lineage out of it.

Today they may have to reshuffle the generations back once again, leaving one good for nothing father Weatherbee that does not fit the artwork.

One problem with this one. The “early days of baseball” would comprise the last third of the nineteenth century. The rewriters know nothing of baseball, apparently.
