The only backstories for Buttons that I'll accept are that he either came from a perfectly normal family with no explanation as to how he ended up the way he is, or he crawled out of a marsh fully grown with not idea nor concern as to how he got there. There can be no in between.

The fucking season isn't done yet and I'm already thinking about all the stuff that could happen in season 3!!

Ed getting a new outfit! Because as much as i love his leather look, he needs a new less blackbeardy look, colorful too, that man needs color, preferably purple!

Seeing mary and anne again with their own ship (and perhaps a crew of just women!)

Ed and stede being very much married and so casually open about their relationship, including casual kisses and pet names!

Seeing what the hell happened with buttons! (because he was written off for the rest of the season) I'm still 99% sure he was kidnapped, maybe that'll be a plot point!

More of izzy being stedes first mate (if you told me I'd want this a year ago i wouldn't have believed you)

And finally the season and the show could end with ed and stedes wedding!!
