I was watching a Mountain Dew iceberg video and found out Mountain Dew Adrenaline was a thing.
This gave me Hassy vibes even though Hassy is cola like in appearance.

can u pls do random things u think the gang would be obsessed with in a modern AU?
UMM YESS!!!
Johnny: Anime and cute stuff!! He's def a Hello Kitty kinda guy and he has a sticker on his phone of her <3 as for anime he likes the older ones like Lucky Star and Sailor Moon (him and Ponyboy watch those on his old ahh iphone on the school bus together). He very rarely tells anyone abt his interests in fear of losing his "tuff" status but once Dally got him a Hello Kitty soda to tease him and he was secretly so happy
Ponyboy: Headphones. They're either always on or around his neck and he always puts them on on long trips/walking around. Darry gets worried as hell that the socs will try to jump him and he won't notice. Also 3+ hour long iceberg videos
Dally: Axe body spray and he's been banned from the Curtis house a few times for using it in substitute to showering.
Two-bit: Meme generator and instagram. He runs a soc hate account for the school and he always makes the most vile memes abt them and NO ONE knows it's him 😭
Darry: Audiobooks. He always has one on when he's cleaning the house or doing chores, and recently he's been listening to the same books as Pony in an attempt to have more things to talk abt with him
Sodapop: Minecraft and the Red Dead games. Video games in general actually. He can play them for hours and it's so relaxing (and also the only thing he focuses on lol). But the whole gang has their own massive world on Minecraft they all work on on and off.
Steve: Mountain Dew Code Red and Baja Blast from Taco Bell. Actually Taco Bell in general, esp that shit that's like. a giant cheez it 💀 and TikTok brainrot ofc

Bit of a rant post here so bear with me or just ignore it. I just need to put my thoughts out where maybe people can relate so I know I’m not alone in that sense.
It is so isolating being the only queer person in my family. It’s isolating being in my family in general. First it was “no more sleepovers with boys, you guys will have sex” when I was in 6th grade. As if me and my guy friend at the time ever thought of that. All we did was okay legos, play Minecraft, drink Mountain Dew, and watch YouTube or movies. Then when I got outed in 8th or 9th, it was “no more sleepovers with girls too”
I haven’t been able to openly date anyone or hang with friends in years. I had to hide my last relationship from my parents and I felt horrible. I loved my partners. I wanted to parade them around and brag that I had 2, awesome people I was dating. When I dated someone long before them, I was so watched and monitored I couldn’t even truly be me and I felt embarrassed my partner knew my parents were always watching.
I couldn’t even have sleepovers with friends. The last time I had a slumber party was in elementary school. I’m almost 20 years old now. I haven’t gotten to stay up late talking about tiktoks or YouTube iceberg videos or anything with a friend in almost a decade.
I have a lot of friends, sure, but do I ever get to see them outside text messages? No. I’d say I miss a time when I could freely have friends but I honestly don’t remember a time I could. My parents were strict, controlling, and loved to make my friends laugh at my expense.
The last time I hung with friends in high school was with my partners at the time and I hadn’t even known it was a date. I broke the rules and went to hang with them and was so anxious I almost threw up the entire day. Still one of my favorite memories despite how unreasonably afraid I was. I’d gotten grounded from electronics for 1 week and seeing friends for 2 weeks. Totally worth it.
Even now as an adult who can do what I want with my free time, I’m too afraid to hang with friends because of what my parents have been like. I see the shit my younger siblings get to do and get away with and honestly, I’m extremely jealous.
I envy my sister who gets to hang with her besties every other week. Who has the balls to sneak out and make late night memories with them. Who gets to go to school events. Who gets to make plans shorter notice than I could’ve ever done.
I envy my brother who gets to hang with all his friends in the neighborhood. Who gets to make plans during church to hang with a friend right after. Who gets to go to the park nearby with them. Who gets to play kickball in the cul de sac with. Who gets to do fun extracurriculars like flag football and boxing.
I envy the parents my parents are with them. I wish they’d been less controlling over me. I wish they hadn’t instilled so much fear in me that now I don’t even have the balls to maintain friendships outside interacting with them online and over text.
My parents have taught me to be alone and I’ve forced myself to be content with it. To just be like “oh I’m just introverted, I like my me time!”. In reality, I’m so alone. I want to make memories with friends and be able to talk about it, brag about it, post about it.

Writ(h)ing
Raging Screaming Scrambling Why cannot I write? Why mustn't I write Writhing in chains made of my own thoughts That tangle the more you try to break free Of the eternal damage of what has left undone Rendered your heart and soul asunder And cast apart a mighty blaze with but a drop of water All metaphors tumbling down mountains Like rivers from icebergs And yet, perennial, somehow The flow of the words controlled and conjugated by the weather And whether it smells of dew anymore And it is then you realise You do not no the smell of dew Because it is a city where your heart is locked And all the water is blocked by dams So there are no rivers to screech into
What are you writing in then, I wonder?

This is technically not related but the ice gave me a good idea
Phantom breathed in, his lungs and chest expanding and cracking like ancient glaciers. Frost swirled around his finger tips and obeyed even his smallest commands. Icicles of ectoplasm dripped from his cold core. His eyes were a frost blue that made you feel like the wind whipping around your face as you flew down a mountain. The very blood in his veins was ice cold, no longer green ectoplasm.
His fangs clicked together as he exhaled, his breath making the air steam, not because it was warmer than the room but because it froze the very reality in front of him. Frost covered his injuried side, it was as thin as the hundreds of dew drops on grass and as strong as icebergs. Blood sloshed around in between the ice covering and his flesh like an aquarium. The hair that floated around his face was as pure and cold as snow, it burnt with the cold.
The room around him froze in his presence. He was winter and childrens stuffy noses and giggles and snow fights and screams of excitement and skiing, he was frostbite and cold acceptance and dull pain that cut into your very soul and never left, he was Christmas and Hanukkah and all the other holidays that happened, he was ice cubes in your drink on a hot beach and ice packs for swelling bruises and the numbness of frozen fingers, he was the numbness that replaced the pain and the void in your soul that never left and the thing you could never replace left empty and cold.
The Fentons stared at him from behind green-coloured glass, horror in their eyes as frost creeped up it and it shattered form the cold, he breathed out a deadly breath that sent unwelcome frost-filled breezes through their house. They’d pushed him too far this time, he could kill, he could destroy, he could harm, he could give up everything, but he would never stop protecting what was his HISFRAIDHISFAMILYHISHISHISHIS and sending Dani on a mission doomed for failure was too much.
He didn’t care that saving her had nearly killed him, when had he been human to begin with? He didn’t care that his cold rage was going to kill everyone because they deserved it, he was not a vengeful spirt, an entirely different type of ghost actually, but right now as he lay on the ground looking weak and pathetic, he was everything but that.
He was mad.
He was raging. He was angry. He was furious. And he was going to freeze himself into the depth of their souls, he was going to tear open their hearts and freeze their blood until they begged him for death, they would regret it. The poor Fentons didn’t even know what they were messing with, sure he was a talon, but now that he fully leaned into his powers he realised he was so much more
He was an ancient.
And the Fentons would never escape him.
A Bird in the Hand is Worth a Talon in the Brush
{Read on Ao3}
Talon doesn't remember who he was before the Green. Sometimes, when the cold seeped into his bones and made his whole body ache he'd have flashes of memory. A man ruffling his hair, a woman smiling at him. Crystal blue eyes crinkled at the corners in joy.
Talon doesn't remember joy. He remembers blood and bodies twisted in unnatural ways and screaming and a voice calling for him in a language he doesn't speak anymore.
Talon doesn't dream. There is only the green and the cold and the memories. Sometimes he thinks it would be easier without the memories.
Talons weren't supposed to feel. They were supposed to be dead. He was better. Being better meant he wasn't dead, not all the way. Being better meant he felt it when the Green was pumped into his veins. He felt it creeping along like liquid fire, burning the ice away every time his sarcophagus opened. Talon pulled himself out of his Sarcophagus and knelt before the two scientists who created him and the Master.
"It isn't ready." The short one in teal said, "It still has too much independence.”
"You said six months, Mrs. Fenton." The Master said “I have given you eight.  This pet project has cost a lot of money and we need to see results."
"If we could just have a few more weeks–" the big scientist in orange said. The Master cut him off.
"I have given you as much time as I can. Now," the Master's voice changed to the tone he used when addressing Talons. "The Court of Owls needs you, Talon. Rise." Talon stood. The Master was wearing a white mask, but Talon didn't look him in the face anyway. "The Court of Owls has sentenced Bruce Wayne to die."
"Then he is dead."
Talon was better. Being better meant he could learn easier, and adapt better. Being better meant he could blend in with not-Talons if he needed to. He could hide his too-green eyes and too-cold skin behind a human mask. He could go where other Talons couldn't. He could go to a party disguised as the Master's son. He could be Daniel Masters until he needed to be Talon. He didn't like being Daniel Masters. Daniel Masters made the memories worse.
"Ah, Vlad!" Talon looked over to where Bruce Wayne stood, surrounded by people. The Master's hand on his shoulder reminded him of what he already knew: not yet. Bruce excused himself from his group and approached the Master. He swayed as if he had been drinking, but Talon couldn't smell any alcohol on him.
"I'm surprised to see you, and with a child, no less," Bruce said. His words slurred together, but his eyes were clear slate blue, piercing into Talon's crystal mask as if he could see the green beneath.
"My son, Daniel." Masters said. Talon held out his hand for Bruce to grasp.
"It's nice to meet you, sir."
Bruce smiled at him, and it was warm and welcoming and reminded Talon of the man from before the Green. Talon hated him for it. "Please, call me Bruce. Oh, Margaret! Please, excuse me, Vlad, Daniel. Enjoy the party."
Talon watched him go, planning which ribs he would slip his dagger between.
Crystal blue eyes met Talons from across the room. He knew those eyes, remembered them scrunched almost closed as a ringing peal of laughter rang out. Now they stared at him in recognition, confusion, suspicion, and…rage. Talon wanted to run. The boy with the crystal eyes was coming toward them, and Talon wanted to run from the memories he was bringing with him, but the Master would not allow it. Talon did not need to see what the Master could do if he failed this mission.
"Richard, it's nice to see you again." The Master said a hand placed on Talon's back.
"Mr. Masters, it's been a while. I didn't know you had kids." Dick -no- Richard said.
"Hi, I'm Daniel." Talon didn't extend his hand to shake Richard's.
"I'm Dick. Are you hungry? I can show you the best things on the refreshment table." Dick didn't wait for a response, just grabbed Talon's hand and pulled him along behind him. Talon looked over his shoulder at the Master. In his eyes, he could see the warning and the order. "Don't mess this up, or else."
Dick shoved a plate piled high with food into his hands and led him away from the party. Gone was the bright smile and friendly demeanor. In its place was an icy calm that would make any Talon jealous.
"Kon san tu, phrala?"* The phrase was nearly whispered in a language Talon used to know before the Green.
"I don't understand."
Dick was disappointed but hid it behind a smile. "I'm sorry. You remind me of someone I lost." Dick popped a sausage ball in his mouth before stating "I haven't seen you at one of these things before."
It wasn't a question or an order, and Talon didn't know how to respond. The Master wasn't in sight. But Talon was adaptable. He could learn. He was better.
"I've never been to one of these before." Talon picked up a sausage ball and popped it into his mouth like Dick had and nearly choked. Talon ate. His human mask required sustenance, usually in the form of high-density nutrition bars. One time when he was a new Talon the scientist's daughter mistook him for a human child and gave him chocolate. It was sweet and delicious and smooth and creamy, he still remembers it when the cold gets to be too much. The sausage ball was nothing like the chocolate. It was warm and savory and salty and spicy with a crisp exterior and a soft and oily center. The flavor burst over his tongue all at once and it was all he could do to swallow it down. Dick gave him a concerned look as he coughed, but offered him a glass of sparkling grape juice that was sweet and cool and refreshing with bubbles that tickled his nose.
"Never had a sausage ball before, either, huh?" Dick asked with a smile. He was…teasing him?
"No, not that I can remember. It's good."
"If you think that's good, you should try the bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers."
Talon wanted to try all the foods before he went back into the ice.
People started leaving the party. Talon excused himself to the bathroom. He couldn't pretend to be human any longer. It was time to be Talon. Once Talon was alone he let his human mask fall. His black hair became white, the expensive suit was replaced with a sleek black uniform with white gloves and boots. His vivid green eyes glowed from behind the lenses in his hood. Gravity left him and he floated a few inches above the ground. Some Talons had weapons, but he was better. The ice in his veins solidified into daggers, throwing knives, and swords—any weapon he needed at a moment's notice at his fingertips.
All that was left for him tonight was to finish his assignment, then forget about blue eyes squinting in mirth, forget the familial feeling in his chest as Dick laughed. All he had to do was slip a knife into Bruce Wayne's ribs.
Talon stalked Wayne, an invisible predator, and an unwary prey. It would be easy to finish his mission if Wayne wasn't surrounded by people. Everyone at the party had to say 'goodbye' before leaving, then he supervised the cleaning crew. Then, finally, Wayne went to his study.
"I know you're there." All traces of the man from the party were wiped, replaced with a soul-deep weariness. Talon was about to reveal himself and finish the mission when the desk chair turned.
"I know what I saw, Bruce. It was him." Dick said.
"I understand wanting to have him back, but bud, you have to look at it objectively," Bruce said.
"Then we'll look into it, but I know what my brother looks like."
"We can't make any moves until we have tangible proof."
In response, Dick put a glass in a plastic bag on the desk. "He used this glass all night. Prints and DNA."
"Okay, I'll run it. Go to bed, Dick."
Bruce closed and locked the door behind Dick. Silly. Locks don't work on Talons. Not when they are in the room already. Not when they can walk through walls. He sat down at the desk chair with a heavy sigh and picked up the glass.
Finally, Talon floated behind Wayne and made himself visible.
"Bruce Wayne." Talon saw Bruce look up in the reflection of the dark computer monitor. He met Talon's glowing green eyes but didn't jump or scream. "The Court of Owls have judged you, and sentenced you to die." Talon manifested a long icy knife and stuck it through the desk chair. It should have punctured Wayne's lung, but only pierced empty air on the other side of the expensive leather.
Wayne had somersaulted over the desk and landed facing Talon.
"Who are you?"
"I'm Talon."
"They're using children now?" Wayne sounded angry.
"I am Talon. Talons are not children." Talon threw a knife right at Wayne's heart, but the man moved again and the knife embedded in the wall, cracking the plaster.
"How did you get in?" Wayne was edging toward the fireplace. Talon let him grab the fire poker. It would do nothing to save him. Talon has learned to take the pain of iron and make it rage.
Talon didn't answer, instead, three more knives flew at his target, the poker knocked away two, but one embedded itself in Wayne's shoulder, and ice spread around the wound.
Wayne attacked with the poker like it was a fencing saber. He could have dodged the hit, but the attack left Wayne open. Talon moved into the attack and the poker pierced his side as he stabbed forward with a knife, aiming at Wayne's fourth rib. Wayne twisted at the last second and Talon hit only air. Wayne yanked on the poker, still embedded in his body, and pulled Talon forward. Talon turned intangible and the poker slipped from his side. Red and green blood splattered on the white carpet as Wayne caught his balance. Talon suppressed a pained gasp.
"Did that hurt?" Wayne growled. "Talons don't feel pain, or bleed"
Talon attacked with fists and knives and anger. Wayne matched him blow for blow, targeting his wounded side. One good hit landed that had Talon doubled over gagging. Wayne wasted no time pulling his hood off, revealing his white hair and green eyes.
"You're not a Talon."
"I'm better."
"You're a child! I can help you."
"Help me by dying." Talon lunged again, and Wayne twisted out of the way and ran to the grandfather clock in the corner of the room, Talon quick on his heels. The clock slid away and Wayne bolted down the hidden stairs. Talon flew behind him, knives embedding themselves in the stone and stairs as Wayne dodged. Wayne was speaking, but Talon couldn't hear him.
The stairs opened up to an enormous cave, and Wayne vaulted over the railing and onto a platform with a massive computer. Talon flew after him and slammed into his back. Frustratingly, Wayne only stumbled and didn't fall. He reached over his shoulder and grabbed Talon by the back of his suit and slammed him into the ground. Talon only had a second to go intangible and fall through the platform before a fist connected right where his face had been. Finally, he sees Batman instead of Wayne.
Talon popped his head up through the floor and watched as Wayne scanned the area, wary. Like a shark through the sea, Talon flew towards Wayne and grabbed his ankle, pulling him through the floor. They grappled as they fell, Wayne targeted his injured side to keep him from turning intangible until he was slammed back first into the next platform, all of Wayne's weight landing on him, forcing the breath from his lungs. Wayne stood above him and Talon rolled into his hands and knees, coughing and spitting the acidic-iron blood from his mouth.
"Stay down," Wayne said. "I don't like hurting kids."
"I" Talon wheezed "am Talon!" He got his feet under him and stood. His side was burning and he could feel warm blood trickling down his leg. Wayne looked sad for a second before he moved, pushing Talon back. He tried to gain ground, but Wayne kept pushing. Too late Talon realized Wayne was guiding him. With one last kick, Talon was knocked back into a containment cell, the door slamming closed behind him as the small room filled with freezing air.
Talon hated the cold. He wasn't like other Talons. The cold didn't put him to sleep, but it made him slow and stupid. He couldn't access his powers in the cold, the scientists made sure of it. There was a cot and a blanket in the cell, but Talon sat on the floor. Blankets were for humans.
Wayne had left once he was sure Talon wouldn't be able to leave the cell. Once he was gone Talon allowed himself to press his hand to the wound on his side. It was bleeding sluggishly now, and deep breaths pulled pained gasps from him. He sat for six hundred and fifty-two breaths before an old man in a suit and mask appeared before his cell with Wayne, now in his Batman mask.
A beep sounded and the old man spoke into the intercom. "Young man, I'd like to come in and treat your wounds. Would that be okay?"
"I heal fast," Talon said, pressing his hand into the wound.
"Are you already healed?" Batman asked.
"No." It would take him at least a week to heal from this fight if he finishes the mission and gets back to the Master. But he’s stuck in this cell, with the cold seeping into his skin.
“If you aren't already healed, you should let us treat you, so you don’t get an infection.”
“It won’t matter.” Talon was getting sleepy, his eyelids were getting heavier by the second. Without the Green, he could feel his human mask creeping toward the surface. He was going to change soon, then he’d freeze or bleed out. Or Batman would finish him off. He should. Talon would.
Batman and the old man shifted to look at each other. “What do you mean by that?”
“I failed.” he blinked his eyes open, moisture gathering on his eyelashes and freezing quickly. “Talons don’t fail.”
“You’re a child,” Batman said. “Failure is expected from children, that’s how they learn.”
“I’m a Talon,” he said. His eyes slid closed and he couldn’t pry them open, he felt his human mask take over as he was pulled into the freezing darkness.
When Talon came to he was warm. Warmer than he could remember being in his entire life. There was a soft blanket over his body and he could feel that he had been changed out of the fancy suit and into warm and comfortable clothes. He was comfortable, which means something was very wrong. His eyes flew open and he sat up quickly only to groan in pain as the wound in his side protested. Strong hands guided him back to laying down.
“It’s okay, Daniel, lay back. Everything is okay.”
“Not Daniel.”
Well, I’m not calling you Talon.”
Talon opened his eyes again and took stock around him. He was still in the containment cell, but it wasn’t freezing anymore. He had been moved to the cot and an IV was in his arm. He made a move to remove it, but his other arm was stopped by soft restraints. Dick was the only one in the room with him. “I am Talon.”
“Talon isn’t a name, it's a title,” Dick said. “If you don’t like Daniel, I can call you whatever you want, but I refuse to call you Talon.”
“You shouldn’t be nice to me,” Talon said. “I’m supposed to kill Bruce Wayne.”
“Yeah, that's why you’re restrained and sedated.”
“I have to kill him. If I don’t the Master will–”
“Do nothing. Bruce left an hour ago to hunt down Vlad Masters and the Fentons. He’s going to go away for a long time.”
That didn’t make sense. Why would the Master go away? Talon failed, he needs to be punished. “Why?”
“Kidnapping, illegal human experimentation on a minor, child endangerment, child abuse, conspiracy to commit murder. I could go on. You don’t have anything to worry about, Danny, they can’t get you here.”
Danny
The name settled into his bones and felt right. He remembered crystal blue eyes laughing as he flew in the air.
“Good job, Danny! You’ll take center ring before you know it!”
“Dick?” The name fell from his lips like a plea. A question he didn’t know how to ask behind the word.”
“That’s my name!” Dick said with a grin stretched thin over some other emotion Talon–no–Danny couldn’t name. He wanted to know.
“I think I know you,” he started slowly. “From before I was Talon. There was an elephant and ropes and lights and music.” Dick was watching him with serious eyes. “Did you know me?”
“We are waiting for the blood test to come back,” Dick said, his fingers twitching like he wanted to grab Danny’s hand, but grabbed his own hand instead. “But I had a brother. We were separated after our parents died and he went missing.”
“I don’t know if I can be a brother. I only remember being Talon.”
“It’s okay. I can teach you how to be a brother.”
Danny felt his face stretch into a smile slowly like the movement would break him if he wasn’t careful. “I think I want that.”
Dick’s smile could melt even the ice in Danny’s veins.
The blood test came back at the same time Batman did. Danny could hear the old man, Alfred, berating him for going out with an injured shoulder, but his face softened when they both came around the corner to see Dick asleep, half on and half off the cot. Danny was carding his fingers through his hair, enamored with the silkiness of the strands, but he stopped when the two adults entered the cell.
“He fell asleep, I didn’t do anything to him.” He said, pulling his hand away from Dick.
“I believe you. I wouldn’t have allowed him in here if I thought you would hurt him,” Batman said.
“He said the Master was going to go away.” Batman nodded, even though Danny hadn’t asked a question. “Did you bring the sarcophagus?”
“No. It was destroyed in a fire, along with all the Fenton’s research,” Batman said.
“Oh. What- will you freeze me in here?”
“You're not getting frozen,” Dick mumbled from where he lay, face half smashed into Danny’s leg. “We have plenty of beds up in the manor.”
“But Talons are frozen when they aren’t needed.”
“You aren’t a Talon. You’re Danny,” Dick said, sitting up and wiping a bit of drool from his face.
“Danny Grayson,” Batman said, holding up a piece of paper.
Dick’s eyes got huge and a smile spread across his face. “For real?” At Batman’s nod, he launched himself at Danny, wrapping his arms around his torso and squeezing until Danny hissed in pain. “Sorry, I forgot about your side.”
“And concussion and multiple spinal contusions,” Alfred said with a pointed glare at Wayne.
Batman grunted in response but looked a bit sheepish.
“It'll heal,” Danny mumbled into Dick’s shoulder.
“Come on, Sparrow, keep up!” Robin called across the rooftops. Danny laughed and ran toward the edge of the roof, ready to leap into the air after his brother. Flying over the rooftops was different from flying as Talon, but Danny loved running the city with Dick. He loved going home to the manor and eating the delicious foods that Alfred cooked and sleeping in the warm and soft bed in his room. Sometimes, when he woke up at night from memories of the Master or the scientists he would climb up to the roof and look up at the stars. On those nights, Bruce would find him after a little while and sit with him. He was learning to love those moments, too.
Sparrow ran as fast as he could and overtook Robin, finishing the race on the edge of the roof above where the Batmobile was parked before he froze.
“Sparrow? Something wrong?”
“Someone’s stealing the tires,” he said, pointing out the tiny figure in a red jacket, not nearly warm enough for the changing weather.
“Oh, we should go say ‘hi’.” Robin didn’t wait for a response and grappled down to the ground behind the thief. Sparrow didn’t bother with a grapple, just allowed his Talon mask to slow his decent enough so he didn’t hurt himself.
Maybe next time they go out he’ll point out the kid with a camera that follows them around.

okokokok so i don’t typically make these kinds of posts like. ever BUT since mortie and i just came back from the cinema i simply have to. as your resident professional batman connoisseur and insufferable bastard, i believe i am obliged legally - so here it is:
my review for the batman (2022) (starring robpot) (spoilers ahead)(also pretty darn long ahead):
let me just quickly preface this by saying that i did genuinely and truly enjoy the movie a lot, but i do also think it had pretty serious flaws. here, the good and the not so good will be mixed in together and i’m writing these points chronologically and/or as they pop up in my brain. ok leggo:
first of all, this movie has to be watched as a comedy. it CANNOT be taken seriously under any circumstance. if you begin to watch it as a straight-faced drama, everything is lost. it becomes an insufferable, stupid, long movie. this is a COMEDY
robpat’s batman was fun. i am very strongly on the fence about his portrayal, but since this is a comedy, i think i’m gonna say that i like it. his batman listens to nirvana and tells alfred ‘you’re not my DAD’ unironically. his batman never kissed a girl before. his batman doesn't leave his cave, doesn’t bother to wash off his eyeliner, and eats doritos and mountain dew when alfred isn’t looking. his batman is 17 years old and also me when i haven’t left my house for 3 months in a row. his batman is a wet shaking chihuahua that is also a looney tunes character and his batman is GREAT.
that being said, i simply CANNOT believe that this is batman after 2 years of doing his vigilante act. if you told me this is his third month on the job i’d be like ‘yeah, that checks out’. but two whole years??? that’s a significant amount of time. the fact that this 28-29 year old man is acting the way he is (towards alfred, out in public, towards selina, towards kids, etc) after TWO YEARS of fighting crime on the daily? impossible.
well okay not impossible but it makes him seem like a huge shithead (and like. a huge creep. why did he watch selina like that. why did he keep staring at the kid like that. bruce plz)
i mean i get it, i do - they had to integrate gordon and police work into this, and it wouldn’t have worked with batman month 3. but then his character feels really really wrong. but hey, this is a comedy so i’ll let it slide
besides, watching him eat shit and faceplant into concrete is fun as hell
the AESTHETIC. oh my GOD if there is one thing the movie nailed entirely it’s the feel of gotham. desolate poverty clashing with high rise buildings, people trying to live their lives as horrible things keep happening around them, those who still have hope and strive for change against all odds, echos of the past still haunting every single corner of the city. the techno music of the iceberg lounge contrasted against the worn architecture of falcone’s office. wayne’s gothic castle contrasted against the modernity of batman’s gadgets. the red and black. fuck, the read and black….. yeah i have no notes there. everything is perfect.
mortie: you know what they should’ve called the iceberg lounge
me: what
mortie: club penguin
me: oh my god
the score too!!! the score is AMAZING. the theme is haunting the movie, like batman haunts gotham, and the mix of church bell tolls against the violins…. goodness me. ive been listening on repeat since i stepped out of the cinema
the storyline itself was actually decent enough (i bet you're already like 'huh???' but hear me out here).
for what it was aiming for, i think it was alright. i did like the wayne family aspects of it, and that it wasn’t as clean as it was always made out to be. this is kinda like what they did in the first season of telltale’s batman (only telltale did it better imo lol). the fights were very well choreographed, the situation was intriguing, all the aspects converged together in the end.
so yeah, it was FUN. and that’s the most important part, isn't it. did it actually make sense? i honestly don’t know at this point. so for what they did with the plot - sure, let’s say it kinda worked, yeah.
now what DIDNT work was The Riddler. oh my fucking fuck the riddler. why. just why.
why did they make him like that. where did they pull this characterization out of. please point me to a comic book where this happens because i was. so insanely confused. i’m actually gonna go on a huge tangent here so brace yourselves.
so we all know (or at least i know, or at least i THINK i know and i dont even know if i know anymore-) who riddler is in the comic books (and the games for that matter). he’s a narcissist and an egoist. in every iteration, he’s out for himself and himself only. his greatest desire in life is to prove himself the smartest there ever was. to feed his ego. that’s pathetic enough on its own, but what makes it even more pathetic is that he desires to prove himself smarter than batman - which he isn’t. let me reiterate this again - batman outwits him at every turn, solves his every convoluted puzzle and riddle, is always one step ahead of him, and that is the staple of their dynamic. riddler is NOT as smart as batman but he desperately wants to be and that is what drives him to commit the shit he commits. he is vengeful against those that wronged him, sure, but when the hell did riddler start caring about justice????? why is that a thing???? this is a man who only ever was out for himself, so making him this. vigilante twitch streamer is. a choice.
it is definitely a choice.
i did like that they kept him pathetic (cuz he is (affectionate)), but that actually has nothing to do with his intellect or his constant dick measuring contest with batman. no, in this iteration, riddler is all but coming onto batman, and batman rejects him, and that’s what makes him a sad little meow meow. which, again, is ridiculous (nothing to do with shipping, i promise, ship your barriddles to all your hearts' desires or whatever their shipname is).
it's ridiculous because in this fucking movie, he actually outwits batman. riddler literally says ‘you’re not as smart as i thought you were’ and in this case, it’s not mockery, it’s true. batman failed to notice a critical piece of the puzzle. batman was outsmarted.
honestly, robpat’s batman is.... just kinda dumb compared to your usual batmans and that’s…. well, ngl, thats pretty disappointing, considering it is also a core part of his character. (also batman didn't think to just use google translate for spanish. really. well. O.K.)
honestly, in this instance, riddler quite literally won.
his only loss was batman being like ‘um, sorry, i’m not looking to date anyone rn :\ also i kinda hate u’ and embarrassing riddler making him go all 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaveeeeee maaaaarriiiiiiiiiaaaaaaa'
and - AND!!!! don’t even get me STARTED on him figuring out batman’s identity. that is such. total. utter. horseshit.
it is a STAPLE of riddler’s character that he cannot guess who batman is. it is his vital flaw that makes him who he is. he cannot crack batman. he is too self important, too much of a megalomaniac to realize batman’s true identity. he’d never connect bruce wayne to batman. never. his ego wouldn’t let him. not on his own. and yet, this riddler just. knows.
how? well. yknow. reasons.
also can i just say his costume was fucking dumb as shit. why. like. why. he is a gimmicky villain, give him his gimmicky suit. not like. a ski mask. i mean cmon man.
yeah so riddler was a huge disappointment and he’s like. a good 25% of the movie so that’s sad. (not sayign anything about the actor btw paul dano did great with what he was given.)
(and that is 500 followers on twitch)
catwoman, on the other hand, was phenomenal. i actually adored everything about her personality. even her relationship with bruce was alright, no matter how much i dont care for batcat. like selina gave it her all - and then batman just stood there like 📷 _📷 99% of the time.
we love a man who never interacted with a woman before.
i just wish selina's mask wasn't a ripped up beanie cuz cmon. really. you can give her a super sexy cool suit but not a sexy cool mask. man forreal.
why does everybody's mask suck.
(that being said, batman's costume was one of the best we've seen in movies, but i still dont get why they don't just use white glowing lenses for his eyes. why bother with the eyeliner. it's so dumb. just make his eyes fully blue or white. it's not a hard solution.)
the penguin was also so so so so so SO good i actually gasped when i saw him what phenomenal casting + makeup and wardrobe work im still floored
but also speaking of penguin - what the heck was thAT CAR CHASE SCENE. WHY WAS IT SO LONG. WHY DID IT CUT EVERY 3 SECONDS. DID ANYONE UNDERSTAND LITERALLY ANYTHING THAT WAS HAPPENING THERE. WHY WAS IT SO LONG. THEY COULD'VE MADE IT AT LEAST 5 MINUTES SHORTER THAN IT WAS.
and honestly, they could've made the whole movie at least 50 minutes shorter than it was cuz like holy crap 3 hours. THREE entire hours. i nearly pissed myself cuz i didnt wanna move from my seat but i had to give up and go to the bathroom eventually. this movie had absolutely no business being 3 hours long. i think you can cut out at least 20 minutes of robpat staring into space alone.
ngl tho, they werent a boring three hours. if they come out with uncensored version on bluray, you bet im rewatching.
honestly that whole final segment was a messsss. i didn't see the explosions (bathroom break), but i came back when the flood was happening and it was all like. ok? so this is what's going on now?
the batman fighting scenes there were COOL (all of them were oh so COOL, actually) but besides that, it was just. a mess.
his dramatic jump into the water. why did he do it like that. i straight up thought he was offing himself when he jumped.
tho the imagery in the water WAS cool (again, nailing the aesthetics)
mortie: this movie is goddamn biblical
morite: *not ten seconds later* lost in the sauce
the final scenes were all sorts of confusing too, but at that point i gave up trying to make sense of any of it and began thinking of telltale batman season 2 and how i wanna replay it again
as you might have guessed, as an S-Tier Simp and Gremlin, i was delighted to see joker (yet) again. From the silhouette alone his appearance seems fanfuckingtastic and im ecstatic to see what comes next - even if everyone is tired of joker nowadays, and him being in arkham already doesn't even make sense
but whatever, i'll take it
i wanna see margot robbie's harley interact with robpat btw. well, robpat's batman, but he's jsut robpat to me, we're on a first name basis.
great movie, hilarious, 8/10

#AHAHAHAHAH omg#that’s so funny glad to see you’re enjoying the squiptionary <3#that’s more my sibling @happistar’s jam but I do in fact ghostwrite half of the definitions lol 😭#anyway yes. squips out here running the soda market#there’s a dude on ebay who has like every mountain dew flavor ever and I think abt them often#shoutout tho bc their listing of MDR is the only reason I know the exact ingredients for fanfiction-reverse-engineering purposes#be more chill#musicals
i feel so utterly PUNKED. imagine being me. imagine no one discussing this secret iceberg of lore since you found it in like 2018. imagine spending all that time putting this info together and then googling it and seeing YOUR EXACT NAME. it feels MALICIOUS
omg squipnaps 😭😭 that’s so silly. I love ur notes. I wanted to say your thoughts on the social networking being a new, AI-developed thing make a lotta sense and aren’t rly smth I’ve considered before! :O makes sense tho, I often think about how the squip doesn’t realize MDR would shut off its entire network and what that implies about squip behavior/their knowledge of what MDR actually does to their system.
anyway here to say I would love to hear any info you wanna share, like this mysterious squip pun lore haha
Well hi there! Long time no see.
I think the SQUIP does know about MDR - "why do you think we had it discontinued?" Which I love because yes, you could take it to mean that the SQUIPs are secretly running the world or whatever, but I don't really think so. I think they're just secretly running the soda market.
BRUH I SPENT LIKE AN HOUR WRITING OUT LINKS and i couldn't find the mcfreaking page until I found the Tumblr archive run by YOU. 😂😂😂 Thank you for the public service @the-squiptionary

A lot of places are named after historical events, battles, and people, so keep that in mind. God/Goddess names tied to your world also work well. Places are also often named after things that the area is known for, like Georgia being known for its peaches.
My brain was fried by the end of this so feel free to add more!
I hope you find this reference helpful and good luck world-building!

The world of travels and photography of Russian businessman from Moscow
Tumblr media
Continents, countries, cities - the world greets travelers with unique natural phenomena, picturesque landscapes, famous sights. David Kaplan is a true gourmet, a talented and independent photographer, a scholar, a mathematician, a system programmer, a successful Russian businessman, and a world citizen, who was born in the USSR, worked for a long time in Moscow, Russia, and now lives in his historic homeland in Jerusalem (Israel).
The map of his travels has no boundaries and deserves credit. From the North Pole to the South, from Asia to Europe, across America, Russia, the Near and the Far East - since Kaplan began to travel, he has already flown more than a million miles, traveled almost all the capitals of the world by visiting 65 countries. He knows where it is best in the fall, winter, spring, or summer; where breathtaking sunsets are and in which corner of the globe to fly for the most beautiful dawn; where to go with a big group of people, and where it is better to relax alone. He knows which cities are a must to visit, where you should only go once, and where you should not go at all. From each of his trips, the photographer will surely bring home his impressions, photographs, and original recipes of his favorite national dishes. Impressions are added to the experience bucket and the list of recommendations for future trips of the Russian businessman from Moscow David Kaplan, his friends, and subscribers of his travel blog. Recipes of delicious dishes appear in the menu of the gastronomic aggregator FUBER - this is the gastronomic project of David, which contains hundred of thousands unique recipes from 65 countries of the world. The best photos from incredibly beautiful places on earth, shooting beautiful architectural structures and world-famous sights are replenished with terabytes of digital storage of a Russian businessman and photographer David Kaplan.
From mathematician and businessman to photographer and blogger
It is known that for many centuries, world artists have used the principle of the "golden section" to build harmonious compositions. And in photography, it is an important compositional rule. Many photographers are forced to learn this principle to be able to find the most active nodes of attention and correctly place the main objects. Equipped with a professional camera Hasselblad Digital David does not just picture the composition. He has his own opinion on nature and objects surrounding us. Thanks to combinatorial thinking, David Kaplan intuitively sets all the accents in the frame, draws with light, capturing the essence. He is a talented photographer who knows how to see what is hidden from the eyes of an ordinary observer.David’s camera lens has moments that make you stop and think, take a fresh look at the already famous architectural monuments and familiar landscapes. According to Russian businessman David Kaplan, the correct photo reveals problems and exacerbates feelings, strengths, and weaknesses.
Personal photo collection The David Kaplan photo archive can be divided into several thematic sections.
Moscow. While staying in Moscow David Kaplan devoted a large cycle of photographs to ballet. The author shows us, graceful ballerinas against the backdrop of urban landscapes, revealing art from a new perspective. In the pictures, we see sophisticated girls in air ballet tutus in the interiors of massive buildings under construction or being restored. Each photo shows us how opposites can balance each other and be in harmonious unity. Israel. The works of the so-called Israeli cycle absorbed the energy of Israel, the great history and traditions of the Jewish people, demonstrating the unconditional love and reverence of the photographer for this country. They reveal the pain of war and human suffering, joy and sorrow, the beauty of landscapes, flora, and fauna. Ecology. David Kaplan pays particular attention to the topic of environmental disaster. Through his photographs, he demonstrates the devastating effects of human activity and the slow death of our planet. Invisible labor. An impressive number of shots tell about key moments in the life of modern people and specialists whose daily work is hidden from us but is very important and necessary. Travels. This is one of the largest projects of travel photographer David Kaplan. From each of his trips, he will surely take his impressions, photographs, and original recipes of his favorite national dishes. Impressions are added to the experience and the list of recommendations for future trips of David Kaplan, his friends, and subscribers of the travel blog. Recipes of delicious dishes fall into the menu of the gastronomic aggregator FUBER - this is Kaplan's project, which contains hundred of thousands of unique recipes from 65 countries of the world. The best photos from incredibly beautiful places on earth, shooting beautiful architectural structures and world-famous sights are replenished with terabytes of digital storage of a Russian businessman and photographer David Kaplan.
Photographs from David Kaplan's travels
Nature for Kaplan is a world of revelation; dazzling, unrealistically vivid, and vibrant. David Kaplan felt his connection with nature precisely through photography. The right choice of time of the day and focus on natural light, the use of special shooting techniques, modern professional equipment, and a set of advanced image processing programs; all this together helped Kaplan develop his own, recognizable style of photography. Each shot is a reflection of his author's view of the uniqueness and beauty of the world. In his works, we will find images of picturesque waterfalls, red walls of canyons, high mountain peaks, mysterious deserts, the sun rising over the valley, a magical full moon night sky, and much more. From one of his trips to Southeast Asia, David Kaplan, Russian businessman, brought a delightful shot of sakura blossoms in the Japanese city of Kyoto - an airy pink and white capture of real Japanese spring. Another photograph, which depicts a Japanese maple tree in autumn, is filled with special calm and pacification. In the soft light of the rising sun, the majestic maple
seems to rest against a cloudy morning sky with its powerful branches and a fluffy crown, and its roots are buried in the grass, rich and moist from the morning dew. Another autumn series of photos is dedicated to Lake Como. I must say that Lake Como is a place of strength for the Russian businessman. Autumn is quiet, full of colors, calming. All nature merges. Amazing shots of golden landscapes creeping along rivers and lakes of dense fog, snow caps on the tops of massive mountains, a geyser lake, and the Lake Como. One of David's works resembles the impressionist painting - a reflection of the foliage of autumn trees on a flat and calm surface of the river. From his travels in Scotland, David Kaplan brings photos of ancient ruins and ancient mysterious castles shrouded in mystical legends, the breathtaking and picturesque landscapes of Norway. These are photographs of the fantastic beauty of sunsets, dancing lights, turning into the northern lights, rocky shores of narrow, winding, and crashing into the land of the sea fjords. The North Pole with its drifting perennial ice floes, arctic flowers, and rare polar animals appeared in Kaplan’s lens. A trip to the South Pole gave the photographer a unique opportunity to see with his own eyes and to capture a colony of emperor penguins. Special attention deserves the photo of glaciers and icebergs, bathed in the light of the full moon. From the sight of a huge moon hanging over the kingdom of ice and snow makes a body covered in goosebumps. This is only a small part of the work of travel photographer David Kaplan from Moscow, Russia. According to his photo archives, you can go on a virtual journey through the most beautiful corners of our planet and study the features of nature and sights of different countries of the world.

saturday morning i woke up at 4am cuz was still on east coast time. chilled in bed til 6 then headed out for a run/hike around the baldwin hills park and the ballona creek bike path.
the bed and breakfast i stayed at serves breakfast from 7-9am, so got back to my room at around 8:30 to shower.
breakfast was served in the kitchen on the island. namhau, the wife of the couple that runs the b&b, served fruit salad with strawberries, blueberries, fuji apples, plums, and apricot. to go with the fruit there was yogurt and some granola she made (pumpkin seeds, dried fruit, coconut). also she made all of the dishes that she served in--rly nice little cups and tiny little bowls, and these plates that looked like lily pads. she also gave me some rly dark coffee she made in an aeropress.  really nice!
while i was eating my fruit and yogurt namhau toasted a poppyseed bagel and used one half to make me an avocado toast with pesto, avocado, feta, and walnuts in honey. it was sooo fuckin good! i told her i’d pay like $15 for it in a restaurant lol. the other half of the bagel i got plain and tried each of her three homemade jams: orange marmalade, blackberry jam, and raspberry jam. def the orange marmalade was my favorite.
i stayed at bfast way too long talking to namhau, luu (the husband), and another guest james (production engineer at CAVA GRILL going through a divorce living in arlington va...learned a lot about him). headed out at 11am to walk to my noon massage appointment in west culver city.
after my massage i grabbed tito’s tacos, which is a popular but contentious taco place in culver city. contentious cuz the tacos are like school cafeteria tacos: yellow hard shelled tacos with beef and yellow cheddar and iceberg lettuce.
i got one beef taco and one beef and bean burrito. every order also comes with a side of chips and salsa. got my box of taco/burrito/chips and a mountain dew (lol dk why i got that, it just slipped out when she asked what i wanted to drink) and sat at a picnic table in the sun. i thought i took a covert pic of my food but turns out i just took a pic of my lap! it’s okay though, the box was not photogenic...just a pile of tortilla chips.
the beef in the taco and the burrito was way diff than i expected it. i did actually like the taco. the beef in the taco was more like the beef in a tamale...like pulled, seasoned beef. almost fluffy. there was a lil too much cheese tho and it kept falling out, but i just let it fall on top of my chips and melt in the sun so i got fake nachos.
bean burrito was insane! it was like...a volcano of hot beans and beef chili. so dangerous and messy to eat! it was not my favorite burrito...i thought i would love it, cuz i love refried beans. but it was just too much.
the chips were a’ight, a bit stale. the salsa was more like gazpacho...felt like the tomatoes they used weren’t ripe so it was kind of a grainy, light, but refreshing, dip.
after titos walked back to the b&b to get ready for the wedding. stopped at copenhagen bakery on the way to pick up some apple strudel because namhau talked about liking it. they didn’t have strudel tho! so just got a couple of danishes.
i got to the wedding too early to be seated (!) so went to the mandrake bar across the street from the venue (smogshoppe) and had an aperol spritz, which was nice.
at the wedding i was still full from tacos! they were handing out hors d’oeuvres from gina’s dad’s restaurant/catering company? looked mostly like flatbreads. i tried one speck one and it was good. u kno, a flatbread. for my dinner i chose the branzino with salsa verde. at the table they also served family-style sides: white asparagus, israeli couscous salad, roasted potatoes, and spaetzle. everything was good! i really enjoyed the fish.
for dessert they had a dessert buffet with tiny little cannelles, almond tortes, crostatas...very german lookin desserts.
day 3
slept in a bit (til 6!) and showered and packed up my stuff, cuz was gonna be checking out of the b&b at 11. was first to arrive at breakfast and all the food was much the same as the day before. the main diff was instead of avocado toast namhau made sourdough toast with tahini, cucumber, and mint. we also had the pastries i bought from copenhagen bakery.
alex and gina threw a brunch buffet from 11-1:30 so i headed out after breakfast. decided to WALK to santa monica from culver city (mistake) and james (the divorcee) wanted to walk with me cuz he wanted exercise and company. didn’t have the heart to tell him i’m a lone ranger, so was like ‘sure but u kno this is a 7 mile walk’ n he was like ‘sounds good’. we walked and talked for 2 hrs. mostly we talked about how he’s excited to live by himself for the first time, how he picked out his new mattress and furniture, and how he wishes his son (19) wanted to travel around the world. i told him about wwoof and workaway.
at 12:30 we were still walkin and i was like ‘shit if i want to get to alex’s buffet i better call an uber’. so we got a car that dropped james off at venice beach and me off at the restaurant. by the time i got to the restaurant (lunetta all day) most of the food was picked through, but i still got a plate of bacon, potatoes, and some lemon ricotta pancakes.
after brunch we went to alex and gina’s house and hung out and drank sparkling water lol. and a bunch of ppl like chain smoked weed in the backyard. i’ve never seen so much pot consumption. it all felt very l.a.
at 6 folks were starting to disband to find dinner and i really wanted to see santa monica/venice beach still. so peaced out and took an uber to the boardwalk at venice. at this point was hungry, but none of the restaurants looked good.  i walked back and forth for like an hour or so and was starting to get really hangry. after sunset decided i’d just go to the airport and find something to eat there (which in a none hanger state i know is not a good idea).
at the airport went to james beach, which funnily enough, is a restaurant in venice beach i decided not to go to. i’m sure the food at the venice restaurant would have been better. i got a $21 salmon club sandwich and they were fuckin out of fries!!! so got a side salad and also a ballast point ipa. rly liked the ipa.
when the sandwich came out i was severely disappointed cuz it looked tiny and wimpy. but actually it was really good. the bread was toasted rye and it was super buttery. the salmon was overcooked (hey ho) but the bacon and avocado was rly nice. and the salad was surprisingly good...with grape tomatoes, bleu cheese, and a balsamic vinaigrette. tab was $45 :< :< :<
at midnight my plane boarded and i landed in philly at 8am this morning. very exhausted from talking to so many ppl and walking ~12 miles a day! glad to be back in philly.
