Rogier van der Weyden or Roger de la Pasture (Netherlandish, c.1399-1464) The Crucifixion, with the Virgin and Saint John the Evangelist Mourning, ca.1460 Philadelphia Museum of Art When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home (John 19:26-27). If the Blessed Mother actually gave birth to other children, as many Protestants mistakenly believe, it would be unthinkable to put her in the care of St. John, a non-blood relative, because the ancient Jews greatly valued family and related responsibilities. Instead, Jesus puts his mother in the care of his apostle John. And even though John is not a son of Mary, Jesus refers to John as her son and Mary as John’s mother. Mary is thus seen as the spiritual mother of all disciples. Brother: 1. Son of our parents (Gen. 27:6), or of our father (Gen. 28:6), or of our mother (Judg. 8:19). 2. Countryman (Exo. 2:11; Acts 3:22). 3. Member of the same tribe (2 Sam. 19:12). 4. Ally (Am. 1:9). 5. Member of the same race (Num. 20:14). 6. Of the same religion (Acts 9:17; Rom. 1:13). 7. Members of the same office (Ezra 3:2). 8. Persons of equal rank or position (1 Kings 9:13). 9 Any member of the human race (Mt. 7:3-5; Heb. 2:17). 10. A very loved one (2 Sam. 1:26). 11 Relative (Mt. 12:46). James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas are called brothers of the Lord (Mt. 13:55); Jn. 7:1-10 states that his brothers did not even believe in Him. There is a difference of opinion as to whether these "brothers" were truly brothers or whether they were Joseph's cousins or children from a previous marriage. -Illustrated Edition, Popular Dictionary of the Bible By Juan Rojas, Unilit Editorial.

my mother and Mary
bore lambs
at about fourteen
but Mary, how did you bear
raising yours for slaughter
when my mother could not bear
raising me at all?
away, unknown, no crib by her bed
i would not compare to my Savior
but just to say
i may not see thirty-four either

Do you think Mary knew that her son was dead the moment he was born?
Do you think she held her baby and knew that no matter how much suffering he soothed, how many people helped it would never be enough? Did she know that the only way for him to live up to his father's expectations was to break his mother's heart?

based on this tweet and also turning up contrast what I can make out of the writing on top is "now I lay me down to sleep lay with maman whilst covid creep she protect me keep me fed as we say our daily [intelligible]" but honestly the lay with maman part might be totally wrong cause the letters are so close and difficult to parse (my heart says it is correct for the implications for louis headspace).
also is this a Mary/Madonna with child Jesus motif? The gesture and the blue on gold makes me think so but I’m not sure I’m out of my depth here.

There's a very popular theory going around that Jesus was a victim of heat stroke, and that's why it looked like he "died" so quickly once he was put on the cross. And that the "water" that came out of his side when they stuck him was actually pleural fluid- which, because they drained, would actually make it easier for him to breathe again. The best way for them to have treated for heatstroke back then would be for them to put him in a cool, dark place and wait for him to heal (you know, the exact description of the tomb).
It's also a common depiction to have Mary holding him before he was locked away in that tomb.
Do you think that Mary knew he was still alive as she cradled him once again? Do you think she saw the slight rise of his chest? Or heard the faint, weak beating of his heart when she rested her head against it? Were her sobs only out of grief, or were they also in relief that her boy was alive by some mercy? Did she have to hide her smile or her worry from the guards as they sealed him away? Did she tell the other women before they went to clean him?
Did they come back asking one, simple question:
Mary, did you know?

Today's Republican Christians would accuse migrant Jesus of eating pets and taunt his teen mother with 'your body, my choice'.
They would wear 'I can't breathe' shirts to the crucifixion.
