Y'know what? It's been a long day. I'm in charge of what I say here. Here's this:
Joe Shooter OCD Headcanons
Ties the tighteest knots ever. Not necessarily because they're good (Although he is very skilled), but because he yanks them so very hard they're nearly impossible to undo. Doesn't matter what: Ropes, shoelaces, ribbons (He hates wrapping gifts because he knows he's gonna mutilate the bow but he can't help it)
PRISTINE uniform at all times. An officer looking less than perfect instills doubt in passengers, which leads to panic, which leads to people getting hurt
Holds his breath whenever he has to walk past the rooms any bullfrogs or particularly difficult passengers, as if it'll keep them from suddenly opening the door and yelling at him
Has a book of specifically sea/water related mythology and folklore. He doesn't believe in any of it per se, but he rereads it a lot so he's sure that if anything were ever to happen, he'd know what to do
Knows that scurvy is a lot less likely and a fairly well understood and easily preventable illness nowadays, but still keeps a container of dehydrated oranges (Which he kind of hates the taste of) on a shelf and eats one or two (Or a handful) whenever he starts to feel "off"
Actually finds comfort in the swaying sensation that follows a person onto land after being at sea for a while, and it causes him a lot of anxiety the longer it's been since that feeling has worn off (Sometimes he tries to counter this by swaying gently or rocking)
Will volunteer to help with inventory so he can ensure there are "enough" lifejackets and lifeboats. But it keeps upping and upping and pretty soon Cpt. Noland sits him down and is like "Buddy. Can you explain to me why, on a ship with a maximum of two hundred passengers and fifty crew, we need to have six hundred and forty lifejackets?"
Will drop literally everything as soon as Noland so much as breathes in his direction. He knows logically that the captain being well definitely does not equal the crew and actual ship being okay, but he really needs Noland to be okay or he can't focus to do his own job properly
#The max ship capacity is totally made up#My brain is tired okay it can't hold the numbers right now#But he initially starts with 'Lets get five or ten extra. In case some break or get lost'#But then what about back ups for the backups#And backups for those#And then pretty soon you're stuck with over twice the amount of safety equipment you probably need and you don't know what to do :(#I have SO MANY thoughts about Cannonball#Mostly Book version though#I like Show Cannonball and Noland alright#But I prefer their book counterparts#I think because we really get to see them instead of time constraints reducing them to just jokes and obstacles for the kids#But that's just me!#Hope this is okay#the mysterious benedict society#mbs#joe shooter#cannonball mbs#captain noland#phil noland

Fellas, is it gay to give two extremely thoughtful handmade gifts (one of which would've taken hours upon hours of crafting, planning, & prototyping) to your Jewish "research partner" (who you left your wife and kid to help with a nebulously-long "project") for Christmas and then forget to get your Christian wife literally anything?
#i know a million and one people probably already made this post immediately after reading the book of bill#but by god is it accurate#original post#vaguely#gravity falls#the book of bill#the book of bill spoilers#later on it specifically says that ford stumbles on a bunch of *failed* versions of the hand-knitted six-fingered gloves#so like. fidds was working on them for a WHILE.#presumably because there's probably no existing pattern to follow for six-fingered gloves so he had to make his own#maybe knitting doesn't use patterns the way sewing does though idk i dont knit#also i assume fidds' wife is christian based on vibes but i could be wrong#either way the point is she celebrates christmas and ford does NOT#god the level of subtle queerness in this book. and unsubtle queerness but i mean its disney its usually at least mostly under the surface#fiddleford mcgucket#fiddleford hadron mcgucket#i forgot he had a middle name!#like the hadron collider#tbob

I've been toying with a dragonformers au in my head. Not set in a particular canon, bit of a fusion of whatever I want.
So the transformers are dragons, obviously. But I'm torn between having it be about dragon riders, so Dot with Megatron, Raoul with Tracks, etc. Or a conservation area for wild dragons, with the humans basically being park rangers. Or a combo, a retirement area for dragons used for combat.
I'm sorry, I'm just tossing ideas about.
Hmmmm. Now, I'm not quite familiar with dragonformers as I've probably only read one? Fic with it, and even then i didn't quite finish the fic.
Buuuut, here's what I'm thinking here: a mixture, like you've suggested above. Some of them have grown up with humans their entire lives (or most of their lives) and have handlers. Some have had little to no human contact throughout their life up until this point. Some fall somewhere in the middle of this spectrum. I feel like it's exactly a good idea to suggest some are former military, but not all of them. Why do I suggest that last line? Hear me out, but
Dragon rehab.
#as I've mentioned before I'm still not entirely thawed out when it comes to the idea if [blank]formers but i definitely consider it#i myself like to keep them as sapient as possible just like they are in canon but hey that's me#dragonformers#maccadam#transformers#au#the picture i was getting in my head was mostly tfa and g1 but i definitely definitely couldn't stop thinking about the aligned predacons#or the game of thrones universe even though i have literally never watched a single episode or read a single book in it.#all i know about game of throwns is the fire and ice modpack and a youtube spec bio vid and ykw that's all i need#the only clear characters i was getting was hot rod and megatron#with hot rod having been raised with humans his entire life and he's here to drag everyone else into therapy (physical and other)#i was conflicted on Megs being 100% wild or if he's a veteran (tfp version for the first but tfa version for the second)#that's all i haveđ
#hot rod would look so fucking cool as a dragon#he has phoenix based dragon vibes#oh right ig mtmte is also in the mix in my head but mostly the more lighthearted parts

in the future, i would love to see taylor do kpop style releases/promotions. instead of just releasing full albums, focusing on a lot of single (2-3 tracks) and mini (4-7 tracks) albums. centering them around hyper-specific concepts + narratives. releasing concept films + track videos + lots of live performances. itâd be so fun to see her creativity focused onto smaller projects and i know sheâd do it so well
#+#obv i love her full-length albums#but imagine her releasing a single album like the betty/cardigan/august trilogy#and it being fully promoted#like her discography is soo good but itâs so enormous that sm songs donât get their time to shine#but this would allow more of that + give her more space to explore new sounds and directions#or like.. release them ig bc we all know sheâs writing an insane amount of music all the time đ¤#also i would absolutely kill for her to have kpop style album packaging đđŠˇ#imagine a taylor swift photo book + postcards#ik sheâs done polaroids before those could be her version of pocas#omgg the way sheâd do lyric books đ¤đ¤đ¤#theyâd be so beautiful and fun to unbox + display i just know itâd be so popular ^^#like sheâs already half way there with lover deluxe + ttpd vinyls#mostly though iâd just love love love to have ts photo books for each era </3

#this book is really tame mostly but you know#i dont even know which version i read. the f slur was there though and i think burke said 'cunting'

Whyâs Skullyâs idea of the ideal Halloween so jank??? Bro wants:
No candy (he says itâs frivolous and therefore unnecessary; Trey and Riddle argue for candy, RIDDLE defends CANDY)
No decorations (he calls for modesty and simplicity)
No color (just rooms painted entirely black with a single lit pumpkin; Vil and even Malleus, who often wears mostly black, areagainst this idea)
No music, no dancing (only silence; he says music and dancing is inappropriate even after the mermen talk about the importance of music)
To beat back (bad) ghosts (even though this holiday is meant to honor them all and their temporary return to the land of the living; Leona, Sebek, and Jamil are appalled at the suggestion, calling it discourteous)
Very odd how his entire concept of Halloween contradicts his idolâs vision for it?? Especially since Skully claims he and his entire village supposedly worship Jack Skellington as the founder of the holiday. In fact, Skully seems to be experiencing cognitive dissonance when Jack proposes a Halloween with all the things Skully disapproves of, but agrees to help with Jackâs vision anyway. What kind of twisted version of history do they have in his hometownâŚ? Are Jack and Halloween as a whole just super dull there???
AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, Skully js disappointed when you disagree with him⌠Thereâs also a very strange personality shift between Skullyâs upbeat, gentlemanly self and the Skully that makes that deranged expression, speaks ill of dissenters, and gets gloomy when his ideas are rejected. His wording is also very odd???? He says things like heâll teach everyone what a âproperâ Halloween is, which is very reminiscent of how controlling Riddle was back in book 1. Skully also talks about LOT about reflection and atonement. He also mentions it is his duty/reason why he was brought to this world/book⌠to show everyone what Halloween truly is.
HOW IS SKULLY JUST AS CONSERVATIVE AND VAGUELY RELIGIOUS AS ROLLO???????? đ Look, itâs okay to have a different perspective on Halloween and want to celebrate it differently than the modern and more commercialized version of it, but thereâs no need to be upset about it when you get outvoted??? (Not the NRC students were the most polite when they told Skully off, but stillâŚ) Really not sure how to feel about this.
Starting to think your classmates were right about you being WEIRD, Skully đ I didnât buy the âheâs a cultistâ or âheâs old/deadâ or âheâs Rolloâs dead brotherâ theories but now Iâm really eyeballinâ him suspiciously⌠(Not that I believe the theories now, but something is definitely up with him.)

Male Jock Yandere Ghost x Gender Neutral Nerd Ghost Reader
CW: Reader death, ghosts, spirit world, manipulative yandere, stalking, general yandere behavior, consensual sex
Word Count: 801
(Trying to get back into the habit of writing, this is the result, hope you like it! I consider a demented ghost as still being a monster and therefore still teratophilia.)
You had died in college. One moment, you were being your nerdy self, rummaging through your binder, and the next, you were on the ground. You didn't really remember much, all very fuzzy. Was it a stroke? A brain aneurysm? You had no idea.
Once you were brain dead, though, you stepped from your body and appeared on the ghostly plane. A fog filled realm that somewhat mirrored the world of the living. Though spirits could make alterations, there were spaces untouched by the activities of the still living.Â
There were a lot of ghosts. Many of them wandered aimlessly or were stuck in a loop of denial, acting out behaviors as if they were still alive. Others lashed aggressively, unable to regain their grip on their sanity.Â
You mostly kept to yourself. Like Jonesy taught you. He was a former jock about your age when he died in the late 80s. He still wore his letterman jacket. You weren't limited to the clothes you died in, but you figured it was a symbol of how he was still attached to his old life.
Jonesy had taught you a lot of things. He had pretty much been your mentor since you had died. He was there waiting when you passed. He said he had sensed someone might die as he was wandering the halls of the college, where he had also died years ago.Â
Jonesy said he was stuck in a loop. Being alone had made him lose his mental stability. But when he sensed you were about to die, it snapped him out of it. He said you saved him, so he wanted to get to know you and help you navigate the land of the dead.Â
Plus, being together would help prevent the two of you from getting mentally frail.Â
It was a bit of a paradox. Jonesy taught you to avoid most spirits, but communication and relationships were essential to staying sane.Â
"You just have to know the right types to befriend. Many of the people here have a darkness in them and can drag you down if you're not careful."
He also told you the other secret to remaining stable.Â
"You have to keep busy, do stuff. Don't get too bored."
There was a surprising amount you could do as a ghost. You could go to stores and yoink whatever you wanted, eat whatever you wanted, play video games, there was even a ghost version of the internet!Â
Getting infinite free popcorn at the movies was your favorite thing. Jonesy always did that lame pretend yawn thing that ended with his arm wrapped around you. It was nice, though. Made you feel safe. You had been touch starved in life.
The transition to him being your boyfriend was so seemless and natural that you barely noticed that it had happened. You had never stopped any of his advances. Cuddling you, holding you, and smooching your cheek.
You didn't even question it when chaste kisses led to him kissing you hungrily before carefully taking off your clothing, like he was removing the wrapping from something delicate.Â
Soon you found yourself laying ass up on his bed with him pounding into you, drinking in all your lusty moans and unabashed calling of his name.
He gripped your hips firmly as he came deeply into you; the pleasure made you see stars. His girthy cock stretched you wonderfully. You felt so lucky and special that this jock spirit had taken an interest in you, a lowly nerd.
Jonesy felt lucky too. He hadn't been in a loop. For a year before your death, he had been haunting you, It was difficult to peek into the living world, but once he found you, he was addicted.Â
He loved watching you read books, study, and watch anime. He especially loved watching you shower, fervently jerking hinself off as he did so.Â
It wasn't enough though. He needed to have you with him! You had been so perfect for him. You were kindred souls in a way. You were always alone and starved for attention. You'd fall for his affections easily, and you wouldn't just crossover beyond the purgatory the two of you were now in, you were too depressed for that.
Influencing people who were still alive was nearly impossible, but decades of being alone had made Jonesy angry and bitter. He used those emotions as fuel and tried many times to trip you down the stairs or get you to stroll into traffic absentmindedly. Finally, the jock was successful in busting something in your head.
At long last, you were with him. As he held you tightly, after making love several more times, he knew he'd be able to keep you there forever and he'd never have to be alone again.Â

Moshang AU where Airplane transmigrates into a demon NPC from one of the fanservice clans he created, rather than into Shang Qinghua.
So basically, there was a point in time where a lot of PIDW chapters were just Luo Binghe running around propelled by political plots and rebellions from the demon kingdoms, and most of that actually just ended up being Luo Binghe collecting wives with cute animal ears and tails and various abilities that Airplane used all of once and then completely forgot about. They covered the usual bases of the sexy cat girls, sexy fox girls, sexy bunny girls, sexy bird girls with wings, etc, before moving into more, erm, niche animal hybrid demon territory.
Which is all a roundabout way of explaining Cute Hamster Boy Shang Qinghua in his faithful-to-canon clan of Hamster Demons, whose primary skills include cute squeaking noises and digging abilities.
In the process of making his braindead written-in-a-panic-at-3-am "world building" on this front actually function in a real version of the setting, there has got to be a way for the otherwise-unremarkable fanservice demon tribes to actually survive the incredibly hostile environment which Airplane otherwise described, though. Like yeah sure when you're writing a book you can just say in one breath that the demon realms are incredibly brutal and cutthroat, and then in the next that this tribe of bunny girls with no visible skills at self-defense has existed here for thousands of years, but if you actually tried to set that up in some kind of a simulation the bunny girls wouldn't last one year, let alone one thousand.
In that case of Airplane's hamster tribe, their digging skills are so supernaturally prodigious that they are able to construct massive underground fortifications in otherwise hostile terrain. But that still doesn't solve all of their problems, because they still need to acquire food, and for that they mostly do have to go up to the surface. Some of their weakness is mitigated by sheer numbers -- they have a lot of kids to offset the high mortality rate. However, to further increase the survival rates, the hamster demons also try and make contracts with some of the local liege lords or ruling clans whenever they expand into a new territory. In exchange for protection, they send some of their extraneous family members out as servants, to either cement alliances through marriage (that high fertility is helpful and was indeed the crux of Wife #whatever's acquisition in canon) or to work as diggers or even high-level architects.
As the like, twelfth son of the Hamster Demon chieftain, this is Airplane's fate. On the one hand he's highly positioned enough to get an education, and his plot knowledge helps a lot. On the other hand, he's not high enough in the hierarchy to be kept around, so it's either go work for some other clan or else risk his neck doing missions on the hostile and deadly surface. Neither seems great, but Airplane would rather try his luck as a sycophant than a warrior.
Luckily (or unluckily, depending on his mood when he thinks about it) when Airplane reaches sixteen years of age, it's around the same time that the Hamster clan's tunnels have expanded towards the Northern Desert. Airplane ends up being part of the "hiii~ pleasedon'tkillus let's be friends~" tribute to Mobei Jun's father.
Mobei Jun's father tosses him to Mobei Jun, so Airplane dutifully latches onto him in order to avoid being eaten by any of the other retainers. Airplane has been educated in various subterranean building skills and is under the impression that he's been given to MBJ in order to build him his own palace or something?
Everyone else assumes that the Hamster demon is a concubine.
Mobei Jun also thinks that's what he's been given, but he's too busy bristling in teenage offense at being given a concubine by his father to actually consider taking Airplane to bed. So when Airplane starts doing other things for him, he just sort of bemusedly lets it happen.
Gradually it becomes apparent that Airplane himself isn't interested in being a concubine. No. Clearly, this Hamster is gunning for future empress of the Northern Desert! How else would one explain all the lengths he's going to not only to win Mobei Jun's favor, but to secure his position and ensure his future rule? The system also wants Airplane to ensure the Abyss plot arc happens in the future, too, which means Airplane helps Mobei Jun win and instigate conflicts against the righteous cultivation sects too.
Obviously, Airplane wants power. Mobei Jun knows that if he gets an heir off of Airplane that will be that, the wily minx will use any children to secure his position, and MBJ is not convinced he could control himself well enough to prevent that sort of eventually. Airplane is fiendishly attractive, and he clearly knows it, and Mobei Jun is not sure if he wants to accept what increasingly seems to be the inevitable. He won't be a ladder for someone else's ambitions! But... as long as Airplane remains loyal to him, he will consider it. Even if Airplane never harbors any true affection for him, and simply considers him a means to an end. If, by the time he ascends the Hamster has not betrayed him or tried to elevate himself by flipping over this uncle's side, or seduced any of his other relatives or any of the highly-placed lords all salivating to steal MBJ's would-be empress, then Mobei Jun will grant his wish and make him the second most powerful demon in the North.
Airplane, meanwhile, just wants a snack and a nap. Maybe if he builds a secure enough fortress and amasses enough of an intelligence network and hoards a few advantages for himself, and figures out how to stop pissing off MBJ, he'll survive long enough to retire. Somehow.
#moshang#svsss#mobei jun#shang qinghua#airplane shooting towards the sky#scum villain's self saving system#og shang qinghua doesn't factor in I don't think#airplane gets shipped north around when mbj would have run into hhp and rescues him instead

Guess what it's my blog and we're going to talk about the Waiting Room now.
In the show, it seems rather boring at first glance. However, this is a LIE because they want to throw you off. There's only one chair, and it has a short leg. There's a weird spirograph-type piece of art on the wall. There's a fish tank, for some reason. There's a bunch of very strange shelves. And there's a giant clock on the wall. THIS IS NOT ALL. The normal entry door is invisible due to the paneling, and the back wall MOVES. It is also possible the clock moves to create loss of time and the floor slants, although these might be stress-induced hallucination. It is a perfectly designed horror liminal space, and, depending on who you put in there and why, I'm fairly certain it can be defined as psychological torture. It evokes the same kind of discomfort and lack of control that a convict being placed in solitary confinement experiences.
HOWEVER
In the books, it is entirely different, and arguably worse. Again, depending on the person. In the books, it is a completely dark room full of slimy black mud that isn't thick enough to stand on. It is also a very deep pit of mud, so anyone who enters for a period of time slowly starts sinking. It also has bugs in it.
Now. If you are not the type of person who is terrified of who you are waiting for, or if you are a person who typically enjoys defying the conventional, the show version shouldn't be much of an issue. The chair doesn't work? Find a way to fix it, or sit on the floor. The room is obviously set up so you have to face whoever is going to enter? Face the other direction. Look at the fish. Sit on the really weird and randomly empty shelves. There are many things that can be done physically about what the room is doing to you mentally. It is also easier for the people who are putting you through this ordeal to rationalize. "It's just an oddly decorated waiting room. There's nothing that bad about waiting"
But the book version is another story. One that I have many questions about. One, we learn later on that the mud is created and maintained by the room being connected to an underground stream. (It takes a long time to swim/dig through the mud and other obstacles to reach the stream, so it is not a viable escape option for anyone but Milligan) It also, as previously mentioned, houses a lot of bugs. We do not know what kind of bugs these are. And yet, since they are alive, they must be living off of something in there. Most bugs cannot just live off of mud. So, either the Executives are having to refresh the bug population from time to time (And where would they get the bugs? Do they collect them? Does Curtain purchase them and have them shipped to the island? Does no one question this?) Or the Waiting Room is its own mainly self-contained ecosystem. My prevailing tentative theory is that it was designed for research/as a science experiment and then either abandoned until Curtain needed somewhere to keep people or he deliberately made the decision that it was part of his interrogation methods for the agents he captured (before he brainswept them) and then he simply extended the use to interrogating students.
BUT ALSO
How did Curtain in the book convince teenagers/young adults to leave children in there? It is an entirely different ballgame to tell someone (especially a younger person who hasn't quite got the morals beaten out of them yet) that it is completely safe and not at all detrimental to leave ELEVEN YEAR OLDS in a pitch-black room of slimy mud and unknown creatures for any period of time! That must have left some damage to the Executives, or maybe they had already experienced it and were afraid to be threatened with it again. Either way, that's such a terrifying thing to anyone, especially a child, and especially since they seemed to choose to leave kids in there overnight (Maybe so it wouldn't interfere with too many classes?) and they wouldn't get any sleep. AND THEN the meaner Executives and Curtain would GASLIGHT THEM. "It's not such a bad place" "Nobody likes to wait, but it didn't hurt you" "Waiting can be unpleasant, but sometimes there's no help for it" and whatever else they said. We don't even hear about the Waiting Room from Sticky or one of the other kids who've been sentenced; they just get extremely upset and start crying.
What I'm saying is, while it was a very clever narrative tool and an unconventional way to raise stakes without causing physical harm to children, I can see why it was toned down for the show. However, I think it is a fascinating bit of plot that can be examined in a lot of different ways.
#also i'm not that scared of bugs#so i'd mostly be upset by the texture of the mud (it sounded so gross) and the anxiety it caused me#i'd still prefer the show version though#i'd just sit next to the fish tank#however those specific type of lights make my insides want to shrivel up and die#so i'd be very unhappy either way#and also i just hate the shelves#they're dumb#i was trying to go back through book one and see if s. q. ever mentions going to the waiting room#but i couldn't find anything#it would be an interesting situation#but i also think curtain probably wouldn't send him because most of his mistakes were from being excessively brainswept#but poor sticky was terrified from the mere mention of the waiting room and also the sole member who would have the hardest time#i think some of it is because he felt like he needed to be ânormalâ aside from his intelligence#so he never let himself explore out of the box solutions#or do things like sit on the floor to avoid the chair#but i was proud of him for the button idea!#mbs#the mysterious benedict society#no this wasn't brought on by @nobody33333333's latest chapter of âS.O.Sâ and what kind of science would explain it in-story#shush

Excuse the format (I made this for instagram since that's what the publisher wants, rip) but this is basically a shorter, easy-to-read version of the history section at the back of my new book.
(Part 2 || The book)
---
Disclaimer: I'm extremely not an expert, and this is only scratching the very surface of complex topics that are hard to simplify. I mostly made this to EXTREMELY rec these books and podcasts, and would urge you to go check them out if you're not familiar!!
This stuff might seem obvious to some of you, but let me tell you, I do NOT think it's widely known in the general UK population.
Imo a lot of the general (especially white) public think that the Windrush generation - Caribbean migrants brought in to help rebuild postwar Britain in the 50s - were the first Black communities in the UK. And yet there's deliberately not much focus on why the Caribbean has links with northern europe. HMMMM
(Britain loves, for example, to celebrate the abolition of slavery without mentioning WHAT CAME BEFORE IT - Britain being the biggest trader of enslaved people, with more than 1 million people enslaved in the British Caribbean. They literally just did it overseas.)
Telling the truth about history or British imperialism gets this massive manufactured backlash at the moment. There are so many ideas prevalent in UK politics - anti-Black, anti-refugee, anti-trans - based on going âbackâ to some imaginary version of the past. Those are enabled by a long tradition of carving parts out of the historical record, and being selective about whose histories get told and preserved. Even though the book I was making is a fun rom-com, by the time I finished researching, I decided to make an illustrated history section at the back too (this is a mini version). My hope is that readers who havenât come across these histories might get an introduction to them - and some pointers of what they could read next to get a clearer view of our past.
#i feel like it's also gone the other way a bit#where some people imagine a sanitised bridgerton version of historical britain where racism doesnt exist?#trying to speak to BOTH groups#but like. you can't understand british history without the white supremacy inherent in its empire building. that IS british history#can't overstate how impossible it was to read anything about 1800s england without being clobbered round the face with colonialism#anyway uk people pls read at least one imperial history book by someone who's not white AND not entrenched in establishment revisionism#i shall make a tag for this in the hope i do more#hari's history corner

Masterlist | Bucky Barnes Masterlist
James Buchanan Barnes, the most popular mobster in town, has at least one hundred men who are protecting him and another one hundred men as well as women who clean his house, cook for him, or do other chores. His house - his villa - near the forest is almost not even in town anymore. The man could have every woman, and almost every woman admires him. He has long brown hair, mostly tied into a bun; his beard is trimmed; he has ocean blue eyes; and he has a smile that could light up the darkest night. James has a muscular body, is tall, and is just the dream of every woman. But even though he could have it all, he lives with his daughter alone. But he has an eye on someone, someone who doesnât look really interested in him, which slightly confuses him but makes her more interesting for the mobster.
âDaddy, look what I found,â his princess says with a proud smile, holding up a book in her hands.
He furrows his eyebrows, his legs spread, while he sits on his couch and waits for the woman he asked to come into his office. In his hand, he holds a glass of his favorite Bourbon while he looks at his daughter. She walks closer to him, pushing herself up to sit on his lap before she holds the book closer to his face. James reads the title on it and smirks.
âThatâs the book your friends - my employees - wrote into, isnât it?â he asks with a smirk.
He told all his closest employees to write into the book after his princess was sad about having just four people - next to her - written into it. Those people were James, Sam, Steve, and Natasha. And then she asked her daddy if he knew if some more who wanted to write into it. Of course she also has friends, but the little girl prefers the big men around her, commanding them around like her daddy does, and he enjoys seeing his well-working education.
âDo you wanna see it?â she asks, kissing her daddyâs cheek softly.
The small girl looks like James - just the smaller, female version - but she has the same brown hair, ocean blue eyes, and the same smirk and pout on her lips as her daddy.
âBut just until Y/N is here,â James says, and he turns his daughter around.
With his hands wrapped around her tummy, he looks over her shoulder. Her small back is pressed against his broad chest. Then she opens the book and waits for her daddy to start reading. James does, and his princess is always telling him something about the pictures before he can turn to the next side.
After a few minutes, it knocks at the door, and he looks up to see you standing there, shifting nervously from one foot to the other. You play with your fingers, looking down, while you just stand there and wait for James to give you instructions.
âI- I can- Iâm sorry for distracting you,â you mumble when your nervousness grows.
âNo, itâs fine. I asked you to come here, so please come in,â he says with his rough voice, and you shiver slightly.
When you met him for the first time, he was scary, and being so close to such a dangerous man can still be scary, but he is all soft and sweet around you and makes you feel like you are special to him. Little do you know youâre special to him, and he would buy the whole town, the moon, or the whole universe for you just to see your smile and hear you laughing while he is the reason for it.
James leans closer to his daughter, kissing her cheek before he lifts her off his lap and places her in front of him.
âTell Uncle Stevie he has to give you some cookies,â James says, laughing when he sees his daughter jumping around with a giggle before she runs out of the room.
His ocean blue eyes then meet you again, and he gets off the couch as well. James walks closer to the door, gripping the doorknob while he waits for you to walk into the room to close the door behind you. It makes you a bit uncomfortable to be all alone with him in a room, but you know youâre safe.
âWanna drink something, Bourbon? Itâs a good one, my favorite bourbon.â
âN-no, thank you. I- Uhm- Iâm fine, really,â you mumble.
You could face palm yourself when you realize what you just said. He didnât want to know more, just if you wanted to have a drink. You inhale deeply while he leads you to the couch. When the two of you are taking a seat, he smiles and turns his head toward you.
âDo you have any plans for tonight?â
âN-no. I can take care of your daughter when you have plans for tonight.â
âNo, thatâs not what I meant,â he laughs softly and takes a sip of his bourbon. âMore like, do you have time to go out with me?â
Your mouth drops open, and you swallow hard, rubbing your palms over your pants to dry the sweat.
âI- Youâre my boss, James,â you say quietly, turning your head away.
He chuckles softly and slides his hand to your back, stroking it softly while he takes another sip of his bourbon. The shiver along your spine makes him grin even more, and the way your body reacts to his touch lets him admire you even more.
âIâm not asking you, actually. Babydoll, let me take you out, please.â
âI-I donât want to overstep boundaries. I- James, I should go back to my room,â you mumble.
Bucky chuckles; the way his body vibrates against yours sent another shiver along your spine. His thumb moves closer to your lips before he slides it over them, making you gasp. Your boss is so close, you can feel his hot breath on your skin; his touches are like electricity, causing more goosebumps all over your skin. Bucky leans closer, his lips almost touching your ear, inhaling your scent before he kisses your earlobe.
âHow about we take Mia with us? You love her, and she loves you.â
None of the two of you mentioned that there are feelings between you and Bucky. You nod softly, but he sees it and smiles, kissing your earlobe again. Then he pulls away.
âI will pick you up in an hour,â he says, getting up, and you follow.
The two of you walk to the door. He opens it and runs his fingers over your back before you walk out of the room and to yours to change into something better to go out with your boss.
Like he told you, he is knocking at your door an hour later, wearing a suit - like always - his cologne all around you, and you smile softly when you look into his beautiful face. His brown hair is tied back, and he holds the tiny hand of his daughter. She is smiling at you as well as her daddy, both admiring you in your dress. Bucky in another way as the girl, but they both canât get their eyes off of you. Bucky clears his throat and takes a step to the side, letting you walk out of the room.
âYou look beautiful, doll.â
You blush, scratching the back of your neck.
âDaddy said we gonna go to my favorite restaurant,â she tells you with a proud smile.
Youâre still not pretty sure what to say or how to act since your boss has invited you to go out with him. So you smile nicely and walk with him and Mia to the cars in the garage.
Bucky is a gentleman, opening the door for you, making sure youâre comfortable, but always taking care of his daughter too.
When you arrive at the restaurant, he takes your hand in his, stroking his thumb over the back of your hand. He makes sure youâre comfortable; otherwise, he would immediately let go of your hand. But there is not even a hint of discomfort on your face, just a small smile on your lips. Together with you and Mia, he walks to the entrance, letting the two of you walk into it before he follows you.
âGood evening,â the waiter says, his muscles tensing when he sees Bucky.
âGood evening, a table for three by the name of Barnes.â
The man in front of Bucky nods and shows you the table. Youâre helping Mia out of her jacket and talking to her while you walk through the restaurant. The eyes of the people widen when they see James walking with his daughter and a woman through the room. He smirks when he offers you a seat, takes your and Miaâs jackets out of your hands, and sits across from you, smiling widely with his steel blue eyes piercing into yours. His tattoo-covered arms rest with the sleeves slightly up and his arms on the table, and he just admires you while you look between Mia and him with a small smile.
âGood evening. Have you already decided what you like to eat?â a woman asks, her smile shy, and her eyes dart from Bucky to you and back to the muscular man.
âAs always, for my daughter and for me,â he says, then turns his face to you and smiles softly. âAnd you, doll?â
A shiver rushes through your body, and butterflies go crazy in your belly when he calls you by that nickname in front of other people. Then you look at the waitress and order your food as well. She just nods, takes the menus, and walks back to the kitchen.
âY/N?â Mia asks, her hand touching yours.
âYes?â
âDo you like daddy?â
You almost choke on your own saliva when she asks that. Of course you do; who doesnât? He is a gentle and soft man; he is beautiful, muscular, and makes you laugh. You feel safe with him, not just because there are always some of his men around, but just because of him. On the other hand, he doesnât act in a soft way with others like you always thought, which makes the feelings you have for him stronger. Bucky doesnât say anything to the question; he just smirks and waits for you to answer, wanting to know what you think about him.
âI-I- He is nice, but he is my boss,â you mumble.
âBut you like him?â
âYes, but I like you too, Mia.â
âSo do you want to be my new mommy?â
This question caught you off guard, and your jaw drops immediately. Bucky chuckles are low and rough, causing your skin to tingle. He makes you feel things you never thought you would feel, especially not for him. The most fearful man in town, a mobster. But also your boss, a wonderful and sweet man and daddy of a beautiful and cute daughter.
âSay yes, and Iâm gonna make you mine tonight,â he says.
Your breath hitches, your body shakes softly in anticipation, and you nod. Do you want it? Want to be his? Of course, you definitely want to be his.
âY-yes.â
Mia smirks, ready to throw herself around your neck, but the food arrives at your table and she learned manners from her daddy, so she just squirms a bit in her seat but starts eating and smirks the whole time at you. Your cheeks are red, and you fix the plate with food in front of you instead of facing Bucky. What if he just wanted to know what you feel for him, but he just wants to play with you? But he is just so soft with you and not with any other woman around him.
âDoll?â his rough voice interrupts your thoughts, and you look at him. âPlease let me make you mine. I know the way you look at me, and youâre the only woman I want to have. I have loved you since we first met.â
âO-Oke. B-But I canât work for you then. H-How can I pay for my things?â
âYou donât have to pay anything. Donât forget who youâre talking to; you will get everything you need, and you just need to ask me,â he tells you with the softest smile you have ever seen.
When you nod again, his eyes light up, and he canât help but get up to walk around the table. He gets on his knees next to you, capturing your cheeks with his big hands before he leans closer and presses his soft, plumb lips on yours. Kissing you in a way no one has ever kissed you before, so filled with love and passion. When you kiss him back, he smirks, pulling you even closer, and your hands grip his shoulder, your fingers sliding along his neck. Mia cheers quietly, giggling and looking at the two of you in awe while he bits into her nugget. You blush when Bucky leans back, his thumb stroking your lips, and his blue eyes say more than words could ever say.
âI love you, doll. My precious doll.â
âI-I love you, too.â
âAndddddd I love you. And my nuggies,â Mia says, holding her nugget up to show it.
âYeah. We love you too, little girl,â Bucky laughs and kisses you again, then he gets up and takes his seat again to finish eating.
Your cheeks are still red, especially when you recognize that everyone in the restaurant was looking at the two of you. But when you look at Bucky, every fear fades away, and you feel just loved by him.

Using your teeth to pull open the bottle cap top of the ice cold orange juice, you took a few huge mouthfuls as you waited for the stop light to turn green, the drink was cold and refreshing causing a shiver to run though your body as you placed the bottle on the passenger's seat. Today you were coming back from annual and yearly no boyfriends or husbands girls vacation weekend you and your best friend always planned since you were in high school.
The trip started out innocently just spending the day at the spa getting your nails done and relaxing, to only end up going clubbing last night and dancing on the table to when I grow up by the pussycat dolls in 6 inch stiletto heels. As much as you loved the girls' vacation and letting loose for a couple days, you couldnât wait to get home and curl up next to your husband, with a spicy enemies to lovers book with your dog Ace cuddled into your side.
Ace is an old German shepherd that is also an ex police dog whose owner was killed in the line of duty, the poor dog was so confused on why his owner and handler didnât come back, he would wait for his older owner to return, as time went on Ace grew more and more depressed he refused to work with anybody else or be social with other dogs.
It go so bad that the police department thought it would be better to put Ace up for adoption and hope he would find a loving forever home but Ace just stayed in his kennel hiding away, he refused to eat and would growl at anybody who came near him.
That was until he met your husband of 8 years Leon who was looking for a dog that could protect you while he was away on missions, but also he could play around with at the park or at home when he had time off, the moment the two of them meet they were inseparable and Leon rushed to adopt him that day and after waiting for a week you both welcomed Ace into your little family and you both became the dogs whole world.
Always coming for cuddles and acting like a huge baby even letting you put Leonâs sunglasses on him and take pictures, it filled your heart with so much joy when Ace started putting on weight and started looking healthier.
Then you have your sweet little Oreo who was just your average black cat with white little paws and little face markings with one marking on her chest that looks like a heart, she was a stray when you first found her huddled in a small box on a stormy night outside your momâs bakery, she was so small and fragile you didnât think she would make it through the night, she was really skinny and her fur was matted to her skin nearly, she must of been abandoned at a very young age which broke your heart.Â
She had no collar and no microchip so it was pointless trying to find her old owners. So that night you wrapped her up in your warm woolly scarf and took her home, where both you and Leon very gently brushed her fur, clipped her nails and gave her some food and water after you asked Leon to get some kitten food before you got home. She warmed up to you both but she mostly stuck to your side always wanting cuddles and pets.
You ended up adopting her a few days later after she passed all the vet checks and got her vaccinations, she was a little cautious of Leon since he smelt like Ace, but Ace was a good boy and let Oreo get used to him, even if it meant he got bit and clawed at a few times but slowly they became friends, then even shared Aceâs bed on cold nights and play with their toys with each other.
When the stoplight finally turned green you started driving down the main highway listening to the music that softly played in your car, distracting you from the slightly throbbing pain in your head from your dull hangover. The drive home was quick and you pulled into your garage within 10 minutes, the throbbing in your head subsided and you didn't feel as bad but you where really hungry.
Getting out you grabbed your bag and started heading inside to where you could hear Ace happily barking at the front door, you could even hear his tippy tappy paws, it caused you to smile thinking somebody was excited that you were home.Â
âHey Baby.â You say happily after opening the front door, Ace was running around your legs, his tail wagging so fast it was almost like a dark blur as he was barking, it was so sweet, you heard Oreo meow from the small table by the door as if she was saying welcome home, putting your bag down you kneeled down and started petting ace and gave Oreoâs head a soft kiss.
âYes yes I missed you guys too.â you say as Oreo rubbed her face on your cheek and Ace was nuzzling into your hand. âWhere you talking to me sweetheart.â Your husband Leon says with a soft chuckle, causing you to look at him wide eyed before running over and hugging Leon tightly. âYour back early.â you say happily wrapping your arms around his neck, his large arms wrapped around your waist pulling your body closer to him.Â
âSurprise.â he says as you nuzzle into his chest, you were so glad your husband was home in one piece. âWhy didnât you tell me?â you whined softly hitting his shoulder causing him to laugh before he grabbed your smaller hand in his larger one. âBecause I have a surprise for you.â he hints as he starts walking down the hallway of your house, you were a little confused but you followed your husband anyway.
Soon you found yourself outside your storage room, it was a spare bedroom you and Leon used for storage since it was pretty spacious and you didn't really use it, pulling out a key from his pocket Leon slid the key into lock and softly popped open the door. âGo inside.â Leon says, by his tone you could tell he was excited for you to see his surprise, pushing the door open you gasped softly, your one messy and chaotic storage room was turned into an in-home library.Â
There was black floor to ceiling bookshelves filled with your books and some new ones you recognized, there was also a small wooden ladder that travel down the bookshelves, a fluffy rug on the ground, your window seat was decorated with comfy pillows and a blanket, there was a small coffee table in the middle of the room with a container with bookmarks, colorful page tabs, highlighters fine tip pens, and a blackberry and guava scented candle accompanied by a box of matches, in the far right conner was a little coffee and tea station where you could make a hot drink and cozy up with one of your books, The room felt warm and cozy, you could feel your eyes tearing up at the sight.
âLeonâŚâ you say quietly, your voice cracking slightly, you looked up at your husband teary eyed to which he softly cupped your cheek and kissed you softly. âHappy valentines day, I wanted you to have a place for all your books since they were kind of taking over the house.â he says with a chuckle as he rested his forehead on yours as his rough thumb stroked the soft skin of your cheek, it would explain the black paint smudge on his face.
âI love you so much.â you say wrapping your arms around his neck, sometimes you felt like you didnât deserve Leon. âNot as much as I love you sweetheart.â he says as he gives your hips a slight squeeze.
Later That NightÂ
You where cozied up in your little library reading one of the new books Leon had purchased you, it was a spicy romance novel that has a few dark twists, just as you were about to turn to the next page your library door opened and saw Leon was leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed over his chest he must of come back from his night run with Ace.
When your gaze met his there was a soft and gentle look in his baby blue eyes as he took in the sight of you reading your book, the soft light of the lamp casting a warm glow on your skin, to him you where Leonâs little slice of heaven from the rest of the chaos in his world.
âWhat's this book about?â Leon asked with curiosity as he walked into your library and rested his chin on your shoulder, his stubble tickling the side of your face. âA spicy forbidden romance between a DEA agent and a criminal mastermind.â you tell him with a small giddy look on your face, it was no secret that you had an âinterestâ in forbidden romances but Leon was no stranger to that.
âDo you like a man in uniform?â he mumbled deeply in your ear as he started to press soft kisses to your neck, a soft sigh left your lips as you bit your bottom lip.Â
âYou know I do.â you say as your eyes flutter closed enjoying the loving affection from your husband, your book now just a passing thought. âHow about you put your book down and get that pretty little ass upstairs.â Leon suggests against your ear, his voice a few octaves deeper causing you to squeeze your thighs slightly, you felt one of his hands make its way from your hip up your stomach and chest before he wrapped his fingers around your neck and gave it a light squeeze causing a soft whine to leave your lips.
âOkay.â you say looking up at him through your lashes, releasing your neck he placed an innocent kiss on your forehead before you started making your way to your shared bedroom upstairs.
Once you made it to your shared bedroom you could hear Leon doing something downstairs, but you just went and waited on your bed for him with your hands in your lap, after a couple moments you could hear his heavy footsteps coming up the steps âhe must be wearing his boots.â you thought and when he came into view all the moisture in your mouth evaporated, thighs squeezed together and your pussy clenched.Â
There Leon stood in his work clothing which consisted of a navy blue short sleeve top that was tight around his biceps, dark grey cargo jeans and black combat boots, but what really caught your eyes was the grey tactical vest that was strapped around his front and back. You felt yourself gulping slightly as you looked at your husband up and down, âIâm in danger.â you thought but you couldnât help but be excited.
âLike what you see doll?â Leon asked, there was a slight tease in his tone as he walked over to you and gently grabbed your chin with his gloved hand, you nodded your head not trusting your voice as you nuzzled your face into his hand, hearing a soft chuckle you felt Leon gently tug your face up before he gently kissed you, his lips were warm and soft his kiss gentle and sweet.
Feeling his hand move away from your chin you felt him start to strip you of your oversized shirt that was clearly his, only breaking the kiss for a second to tug his your shirt off then tossing it on the ground before reconnecting your lips again, you feel back onto your plush bed one of his knees in between your legs as he hovered over you.
Your fingers found their way into his dark hair and gently tugged on his roots, earning you a soft groan from your husband as he tugged your leggings off your legs leaving you in your bra and panties. When Leon finally broke the kiss you looked up at each other breathing heavily, nothing but love and affection swimming in both your eyes for each other.
One of his gloved hands rests on your cheek, his thumb tracing your bottom lip sticking your tongue out slightly you ran it up the front of his glove before taking his gloved thumb into your mouth and gently sucking.Â
âAnd you say I'm a tease princess.â Leon groaned, cheekily you gently bit his thumb and your teeth leaving a little imprint in his glove, before you leaned up and kissed him then used your strength to push Leon over onto the other side of the bed then straddle his waist, you felt his eyes on you but you where on a mission you wanted to pay Leon back for the library and the thoughtfulness then went into the idea.
You unclipped his tactical vest and placed on the ground be your bed before you trailed gentle kisses down his clothed chest and stomach as your hands worked on unbutton his pants and tugging them down his legs leaving him in his underwear.Â
When you finally reached the top of his underwear that had a wet patch, you gently tugged them down revealing his hard cock that was leaking precum everywhere, you looked up at Leon as if to ask permission Leon nodded his head and ran his fingers through your hair and held it in a makeshift ponytail so your hair didnât get in your eyes.
Smiling soft you let your tongue run up the side before you wrapped your lips around the tip and slowly began to bob your head you could feel every vein and ridge, he was heavy on your tongue but there was a small comfort, you made yourself at home placing your hands on his muscular thighs as you set a smooth pace.
Slowly bobbing your head occasionally he would hit the back of your throat, causing tears to prick your eyes but you blinked them away quickly.
Above you could hear Leon groaning and giving you soft praises of âsuch a good girlâ and âfeels so good darling.â the praise sent heat to your cheeks and kept you going, you wanted to make him feel good, you wanted to be his good girl.
You could feel your jaw was being to hurt slightly when your suddenly pulled off, breathing heavily saliva coating your slightly swollen lips a soft whine leaving your throat as you looked at your husband with a pout, he was breathing heavily his cheeks were slightly pink.
âWant to make you feel good too.â Leon says before you can think about what he said he pulls your lower half over his face, his stubble tickling the inside of your thighs, you could feel his warm breath on the wet patch of your panties causing you to clench around nothing and a soft whine to leave your lips.
When you felt him move your panties to the side and his tongue ran up your folds, a soft moan left your lips as you slightly arched your back. You could feel the heat running through your body as he feasted on you, as if he was in his own little world with his tongue deep inside you.Â
Feeling his wrap his arms around your hips to keep you in place, you went back to giving him the same pleasure, your pillowy lips wrapping around his cock again and bobbing your head at a steady pace with your cheeks slightly sucked in.
You could feel him twitching in your mouth, you pulled away slightly and swirled your tongue around his tip causing his hips to jolt slightly you knew he was close, but so where you as your thighs shook slightly around his head.Â
âFuck doll cumming.â Leon groaned before you pushed him all the way down your throat, a few tears rolling down your cheeks at the sudden intrusion but you ignored the pain as your throat muscles tightened around him.
Leon came down your throat with a deep groan and even slightly bucked his hips, you soon followed and came with a loud moan, pulling away slightly you breathed heavily and wiped your mouth. Leon was breathing heavily but there was a huge grin on his face as he moved so now he was hovering over you.Â
âAnother round princess?â he asked as he reached into the bedside table and pulled out a silver square, you could barely pull a thought together but you nodded your head and let your husband position you how he wanted, lucky this time you were laid on your stomach with a pillow under your hips, your head resting against your pillow and soft hum leaving your lips as you where in a comfortable position.
You heard the sound of the condom packet being torn open and the lid of a lube bottle being cracked opened, it wasnât that you weren't used to Leonâs size but sometimes it made it more comfortable, you heard the sound of the rest of his clothes hit the ground beside the bed as he stripped off, he even carefully took your soaked panties off and tossed them onto the pile of his clothes.
âCold.â you whined softly as a shiver went down your spine, you felt Leon placed a small blob over your slit and gently rub it in. âI know sweetheart, you'll warm up soon princess I promise.â Leon says before you felt him at your entrance, you closed your eyes and waited for the familiar stretch, a soft moan left your lips as he slowly pushed in being careful and soon bottomed out a soft groan leaving both of your lips as you felt each other.
âFuck.â you cursed as you placed your face into your pillow, no matter how many times you take him, he always overwhelms you with how good he makes you feel.Â
âAre you ok?â Leon asked when you felt him gently kiss your shoulder, when he was this gentle with you it made your heart skip a beat, you nodded your head and gave him a smile as you leaned up and softly kissed her cheek.
âIâm ok but I do have one request?â you say when you notice he is still wearing the gloves on his hands, you saw him glance between you and his hands a small smirk on his face as he already knew what you were asking him for, moving his arm his bicep wrapped snug around your neck giving a soft squeeze Leon began to thrust slowly, teasingly but you here in heaven with his bicep around your neck.
âSuch a dirty little girl, do you like it when I choke you? Deprive you of oxygen until you nearly pass out.â Leon asked his tone was mean and nasty as the pace of his thrusts picked up, your brain was going fuzzy you couldnât focus on anything else but him.
You loved it when Leon was your kind and sweet husband but deep deep down a part of you liked it when he was mean and dominant, it made you feel so small being under him, his body towering over yours, his muscles and strength double if not triple then yours and it was such a turn on.
âYes I do.â you choked out as you looked up at your husband, there was a smirk on his face as he thrusted into your soaked pussy, your gummy walls sucking him in and never wanting him to leave.
âOpen.â he demanded and you opened your mouth without hesitation then you felt Leon spit into your mouth making you feel even dirtier, but you loved it and grinned up at him almost as if you were a crazed woman, you swallowed before you opened your mouth again and stick out your tongue.Â
âFuck I love you so much.â Leon groaned his voice deeper as he tightened his bicep around your neck, causing small spots to come into your version. You knew your safe word but you didnât want to use it, this feeling felt like pure ecstasy and you were floating. âYou close darling?â you heard Leon ask and you nodded your head feeling the familiar tightening in your stomach.
âYes.â you choked out in between moans, your thighs were trembling and your head was feeling foggy. âCumming.â you cry out as you let out a high pitch moan and came around Leon, you felt him soon follow. After a couple minutes you slowly felt him pull out then discard the used condom in the rubbish.
an hour laterÂ
You were freshly showered and dressed in one of Leonâs shirts and a pair of panties, you both were relaxing in bed cuddled into Leon with Ace sleeping in his dog bed next to the window and Oreo resting and purring in between you and Leon.Â
âI wasnât too rough was I?â you heard Leon asked as he was tracing his thumb on your hip bone under his shirt you were wearing. âNo, you were perfect as always.â you say you press a kiss to the top of his bare chest that had a few old scars, this caused him to smile and pull you closer to him being careful of Oreo as he doesnât want to be attacked by her again.
âHappy Valentine's Day doll.â Leon says as he kisses your head and makes sure both you and Oreo are comfortable on the bed, âHappy Valentine's Day honey.â you say as you leaned up and softly kissed him, grateful to have a husband as kind, caring and gentle as LeonâŚ.

Unfortunately I came across a very strange and misinformed video about Black Butler.
Itâs not good. Donât watch it. Unless you wanna ruin your day, in which case have fun.
Despite it all, I watched it. What left me wondering, however, was how off the mark the person who made the video was on, well, everything.
From their insistence that the Book of Circus Arc theme or point is non existent, to reading Cielâs character so badly they genuinely thought the Green Witch Arc did nothing for his character development.
While baffled, it also made me think on how someone could read Black Butler so badly.
Sure, you can say that thereâs no real way to read or interpret something âin the wrong wayâ but interpreting The Hunger Games as a pure battle-royale action story would make you believe itâs bad.
âWhy are we focusing so much on how the capitol preps them?â Or âWhy isnât Katniss winning everything?â Or âI wanna know more about the rebellionâ All questions that miss the actual point of the story - which is criticizing (not solving or ignoring) the way that media distracts us from violence via spectacle.
The same thing applies here. While there is no ârightâ way to consume media, thereâs things that the author makes clear they wanna focus when creating a story. Things that, if you understand, make the story youâre reading actually make sense.
And in Black Butler thereâs three things that you have to understand to properly get what Yana is saying.
Sebastian is the protagonist
Ciel and Sebastianâs relationship IS the story.
And that relationship is, fundamentally, a positive one.
A quicker version of it would be:
Black Butler is a love story from the POV of Sebastian, and you have to ship it to get it
- but thatâs not entirely true.
You can still look at it as a complex but ultimately positive rship and get in broad strokes of what itâs conveying. It doesnât have to be romantic. Although, it helps much more than a platonic framing.
(That said, interpreting their rship as father and son, still isnât the best way to go about it. Mostly because by its very nature of âsoul consumingâ their relationship is extremely sexually charged. And hey, if youâre into that I donât judge. However, if youâre desperately trying to interpret their rship as NOT romantic to the point you fall back on heteronormative patriarchal ideals of nuclear familiar as framing device, I donât think this interpretation bodes with you)
Now, having all that ground work:
Why do I say these are the key components to understand BB?
Okay so, first,
1. Sebastian is the Main Character. The protagonist.
Thereâs a lot of people who wanna argue against it, claiming heâs either the villain or the antagonist. Both wrong.
He does not function as an antagonist. Even if, and an emphasis on if, you consider Ciel to the protagonist, Sebastian isnât a narrative antagonist.
If you wanna go back to Creative Writing 101, be my guest. An antagonist is directly defined by the protagonist. Itâs the opposing force. If the protagonist wants A, the antagonist wants to stop them from getting A.
Sebastianâs catchphrase is âYes, my Lordâ. He never opposes Ciel, in fact quite the contrary. By the mere fact theyâve created contract, it means that theyâve both agreed in the inevitable outcome.
People want to frame Sebastian as the villain, because Ciel having his soul taken by a demon, would be a BAD END in the context of their moral compass. They see Ciel as a frail victim of abuse, whoâs being tricked by Sebastian, who wants Cielâs soul.
Which is an. Interpretation. A bad one. But still one.
The narrative (and whether the narrative fits your personal moral compass and lack of critical thinking is irrelevant) treats Ciel as an agent in his own destiny. The abuse he suffered was the moment in which he had no control. Itâs only after he meets Sebastian that he can rid of both his guilt and his despair, and do what he wants.
In this case though, itâs revenge.
The famous âAsthmaâ scene shows this. If Ciel is taken back to his past, he becomes helpless. Swarmed with pain and memories that make it so that he canât even react. Sebastian is his saving grace. If Ciel didnât have him, and the power he wields to rebuilt whatâs broken, he would crumble once more.
If Ciel has a panic attack, because of all the pain he has, Sebastian picks him up and says âyou are not a helpless child anymore, you are not a victim anymore, you have the power to do anything. So, what do you wanna do?â
Cielâs answer is to kill them.
A proper analogy would be to say that, if Sebastian offers a gun, Ciel pulls the trigger. They are both at fault. Sebastian, strictly speaking, is not here to directly cause Cielâs downfall, but as a tool Ciel uses to plunge into the abyss.
If, again if, you were to frame Ciel as a protagonist, Sebastian falls closer to the âVoice of reasonâ character. Not a literal voice of reason, but a literary one. If you have a protagonist and an antagonist exchanging ideals, the Voice of Reason serves to engage with the protagonist on their own ideals.
That said, Ciel isnât the protagonist. The story quickly falls apart if you interpret it as such.
Things such as Cielâs character arc beingâŚshall I say odd?
Itâs not that his character arc isnât there, but itâs never lineal. His goals stay the same, the only thing that happens is that we start to peel back the âwhyâs of his goals. Throughout the series itâs never about Ciel understanding himself better, he knows who he is, he knows what he wants, he knows why he wants it. He doesnât ever need to uncover these, but simply remember them. Because itâs always about the audience understanding Ciel.
He knows he wants revenge.
In the Circus Arc: He knows that he needs Sebastian because without him, the pain of the abuse he suffered would be too much to bear. But WE are introduced to it.
In the Book of Atlantis: He knows that with this new lease he does not want happiness and peace, he wants revenge. The one being told this is the audience.
In Green Witch Arc: He knows that their revenge isnât for his family, the real Ciel or guilt. Itâs because he wants it. Heâs angry, heâs upset, and this is entirely for him. The one being told this is the audience.
Except. Not really. The one either discovering or remembering these key moments - is always Sebastian.
Sebastian is the one who reassures him that he now holds the power of a demon to override the pain. Sebastian is the one who remembers that to override that pain, Ciel wants revenge. And Sebastian is the one who discovers that that revenge isnât built out of grief or guilt, but for himself.
We are witnessing it all, through the eyes of Sebastian.
This is why we have an extremely vague idea of who Ciel is, Sebastian does not have the whole picture.
If you havenât been reading this manga with your eyes closed, youâll realize we have a better grasp at Sebastianâs character than that of Ciel. We get a lot of insight on how he thinks and what he values through light hearted dialogue he has with the servants. You even see the character development in these little interactions.
Think about how when he first arrived to the mansion he magically created food with no regards to taste, but when he meets Bard he states that food is created to see whoever will eat it, smile.
That is character development, more than you will be able to see from Ciel.
Because Cielâs character, while not static, doesnât go from point A to point B. Mostly, cause it doesnât need to. He went through that when he lost the real Ciel and got Sebastian. Everything we are watching is the falling out.
Now, given the fact that Iâve told you that it makes more sense for Sebastian to be the protagonist/main character, and that he 100% isnât either a villain or antagonist in ANY of the interpretations you can get:
Do you believe me?
If you donât, youâll probably believe Yana herself.
This is from the first Volume, where Yana herself describes the process of making Black Butler. The primary idea behind the creation of BB was a butler as a âheroâ.
If you go back to the introductory chapter, you notice that Ciel is barely mentioned. Heâs simply the one to give Sebastian impossible tasks and standards that Sebastian must find how to overcome.
Ciel is properly introduced until the NEXT chapter. The second chapter has this formula too, introducing Lizzie as a problem to overcome. Although, to Sebastian the best way to âget rid of the problemâ is simply to indulge her.
The issue here being that the problem isnât as simple as a business meeting but something directly tied to Ciel and Cielâs past. Each time that Sebastian has to solve a problem, it chips away at Ciel. While with Lizzie he shows a persona, once heâs alone with Sebastian he acknowledges the toll it took on him. It serves to build Ciel as Sebastianâs master, and how some problems arenât as simple as discarding a tablecloth.
The third and the fourth, are a unified narrative, with a similar premise to the first chapter. Ciel gets kidnapped and Sebastian must find a way to retrieve him without raising suspicions.
If the first chapter is to set up what Sebastian must do as a butler, the third and the fourth serve to set up what he must do as a demon.
The entirety of the volume, and up to Book of Circus Arc, is about how Sebastian tries to follow the increasingly absurd orders that Ciel has - it is not about Ciel trying to solve them.
Thatâs how they work, we follow Sebastian for the most part, because heâs the one having to come up with the solutions.
If anything, in early Kuro, where the emphasis was more on a slice of life conflict, Ciel is the antagonist. Heâs the one creating problems for Sebastian to solve.
Whatâs more, in the second volume, the very first chapter is one from Sebastianâs POV. So far, we hadnât gotten an entire chapter from Cielâs POV. In fact, I would find it hard to point to a single chapter where Ciel is the POV throughout. The reveal of real Ciel and the flashback is the closest contender.
But once we move past early Kuro, and into Book of Circus, this set up changes.
Itâs fairly easy to assume that Ciel is the main character, because from this point on the conflict of the plot sorta surrounded him. We spend a lot of time with him and with his story. The enemies start being people directly tied to Ciel and Cielâs trauma. Rarely, if at all, we get to see Sebastian before he met Ciel. The framing device for the story, is Ciel.
This is where point 2 gets intertwined.
2.- Sebastian and Cielâs relationship IS the story.
The story begins at the point where Sebastian and Ciel met. Who Ciel was before he met Sebastian, informs why heâs the way he is when he does. You have to know all he went through to understand why heâs a brat, why he lashes out. However Sebastianâs past doesnât matterâŚbecause Sebastian himself doesnât care much for who he was, before he was âSebastianâ. Thatâs also part of the narrative.
Unlike Ciel, he doesnât seem opposed to revealing information from before the contract. He talks about how pets from where he is from are gross, he talks about how he knows how to dance because of other places heâs been to, and alludes to the life he's lived before.
Just that, to him, they're footnotes.
He makes allusions to a very bland, uninteresting life, up to the point he meets Ciel.
Thatâs why we donât know more about his past.
As for why we focus on Cielâs storyâŚokay maybe we need Creative Writing lessons 102
I studied Dramaturgy for about 3 to 4 years. And something you notice is how play-writing is the quintessential story telling. Itâs making it work with the bare bones of a story.
Some other mediums have more finesse, more depth, or more spectacle - all amazing things that work for whatever theyâre created for. But understanding a play, how and why it works, helps understand the fundamentals of any derivative story telling medium.
Particularly, conflict.
Conflict is dialogue and dialogue can take many forms. A story, in its essence, is a dialogue between two opposing ideas.
Take Batman, for example, who embodies the ideas of justice and order. On his own, heâs not a well rounded character.
If you ONLY present him, in a vaccum with nothing else, you donât have a character. You have a list of characteristics that youâre supposed to know.
You only know who he is when you have dialogue with another character.
I say Dialogue, but it doesnât necessarily mean spoken language at one another. Dialogue can mean fist fighting, playing tabletop games, talking to other people about the other, or even just a competition. The idea is to simply to compare and contrast both ideas.
If you want an example on how tabletop games serve as dialogue, watch the video âWell, Someone Had to Explain the Liarâs Dice Sceneâ by Lord Ravecraft
Another example, were we to retake Batman, you have him fight Joker. Whoâs the embodiment of chaos and randomness.
In the following picture, you get far more information than the one previously shown. While the Joke fights with daggers and fake guns, Batman only uses his fists. He doesnât use the tricks that Joker does. His serious demeanor, contrasted with Jokerâs glee at the dangerous situation. The fact that Batman has a deathly grip on Jokerâs shirt, while the Joker doesnât, which shows a desperation to catch him.
You are being shown, through a dialogue, who Batman is.
Itâs so much easier and much more effective to explore a character through another character.
This is the reason why Shonen has a tendency to make incredibly good gay ships. If you want to explore Narutoâs personality, and his feelings of inferiority, you HAVE to have him interact with Sasuke.
If you wanna understand Hinataâs passion for volleyball, you have him enjoy himself the most with the only other crazy motherfucker whoâs as obsessed with volleyball - Kageyama.
And I think that originally, Yana had this problem.
Sebastian was the protagonist, but she had little room to develop him as a character in the confines of the manor, dealing with random enemies.
She likely tried to create Grell as someone of the same stature as Sebastian. Someone who could be this other person to engage dialogue with and show or allude to his past a bit more.
The problem being that Sebastian didnât care for his past. Or really, engaging with anyone. He sees everyone as below him, but when confronted with Grell who isnât below him, he doesnât wanna talk to her.
So youâre stuck in conundrum.
How do you have dialogue with a character, that as a character trait, doesnât really wanna have dialogue?
Well, Grell also solves the problem. Because only the moment she gets him to start any semblance of a dialogue - is questioning why heâs serving Ciel.
And this is the moment when itâs perfectly cemented that the focus of the story is their relationship.
Why is Sebastian here? Why does he stay? What did he see in Ciel that made him want this extremely convoluted contract?
THATS the dialogue.
THATS the conversation weâre having in Black Butler.
We need to know Ciel because understanding who he is, letâs us know WHY /Sebastian/ is here.
Then slowly, with the introduction with the Undertaker, we find out Sebastianâs conflict.
Which isâŚ
Heâs scared of losing Ciel. It becomes apparent with the constant imagery of the Undertaker taking away Ciel and at some point even obtaining r!Cielâs body, that heâs worried it might happen.
But he can only be worried that Ciel might be taken away if he wants to stay near Ciel.
And thatâs his character arc.
Realizing that he actually likes Ciel, cares for him and the role he plays a butler that he doesnât want this to end.
In the first chapters, he doesnât feel a need to protect Ciel anymore than whatâs strictly necessary. Just donât die, thatâs about as deep as his involvement in chapter 4 gets.
But by the Green Witch Arc, he feels a need to protect Ciel from ANY harm.
This is why I also said
3.- Their relationship is fundamentally a positive one.
In broad strokes, Sebastian to Ciel is the person who allows him to survive. Heâs not worried about giving up his soul since heâs already dead. While Ciel to Sebastian, is someone whoâs making him have fun. Heâs slowly becoming more and more attached to Ciel and the life he has with Ciel.
Their relationship is not that of just a predator and prey, but also of master and pet.
In the terms that Black Butler itself would call: Sebastian is a wild wolf acting like a collared dog.
Ciel is aware that the wild beast will eat him at the end of the day, but if he clings hard to leash for now, he might just be able to have Sebastian maul his abusers.
Sebastian as a dog, currently finds that he enjoys being a chained dog.
(This is demonstrated in the Green Witch arc where he quite literally says, he doesnât wanna be a wild beast and prefers to be a butler)
And much like the actual DOG Sebastian, Ciel constantly interprets his attempts to get close and protect him, as an act of aggression.
This push and pull of Cielâs perception of Sebastian and Sebastianâs true motives is what feeds the story.
And the briefs interludes were that isnât the case (what other people call the âplotâ, but I would refer to as the connective tissue) such as Sullivan and Wolfram, the other servantâs past, the grim reapers and the like, serve as a parallel to Ciel and Sebastian relationship. Either to signify how they care for each other, highlight their weaknesses or fears, or explore how they feel.
Itâs no surprise that Sullivan and Wolfram are parallels to Ciel and Sebastian. A sheltered sickly child who seeks the protection of a cold hearted machine that only knew how to kill, but who eventually found he cared for her genuinely.
Undertaker and Claudiaâs relationship being heavily paralleled with them, even though we arenât 109% sure what they had but heavily implied it was a romantic attraction from the undead supernatural creature and a Phantomhive.
Everything is a parallel.
Thatâs why, like the approach of the terrible original video, is flawed.
Trying to interpret Black Butler as action scene after action scene, with mystery after mystery with the only connective tissue being the mystery of who burned down the mansion - is missing the trees for the forest.
Thatâs not the point.
And if youâre too much of a prude to engage with gothic horror in its gothic horror game, I see little point as to why you even bother to engage with it at all.
A lot of people, including the person who create the video, simply refuse to acknowledge Black Butler IS the story of Sebastian and Ciel as a close and positive relationship, romantically and sexually charged. The reason for it being that theyâre âput offâ by it.
Part of me wonders how much that is genuinely true, and how much is just performative outrage. Itâs like ignoring the fact that Cersei and Jami are in an incestous relationship and try to frame it as âplatonic loveâ, because the idea of it is THAT off putting.
But regardless of that, if you donât like the fact that itâs as canon as canon can get, I would reccomend you donât engage with the story at all.
As Iâve explained, the entirety of the series is about them. If you refuse to see Sebastian and Ciel as, at the very least, a duo that cares deeply for the other - you arenât reading Black Butler.
I have no idea what youâre reading.Perhaps your own biases and subconscious stigma with British aesthetic. At that point, watch the fucking British Royalty Gossip Magazine. Youâd find more substance there.
Just donât be like the person in the video, please? Donât play dumb. Donât ignore the fact that Yana is a Shotacon, donât ignore the fact Sebastian is a hero, donât ignore the fact that the entirety of the story is based on Sebastian and Cielâs dynamic.
Because if you do, you are ashamed. You are ashamed of what this story is about. You donât wanna engage with the text, you want to engage with yourself. You wanna project into Ciel whatever traumas and experiences you have, for the sake a vanity project, where you come out as the morally superior.
You donât wanna talk about Black Butler, you wanna talk about how good YOU are. How you âdonât sinâ by watching it âwithout all the gross unholy stuffâ.
Which is the exact opposite of what BB is about.
So, if you donât want to, save us all the humiliation fetish and leave.

There's a line in the book where Shadwell asks Aziraphale if the antichrist would be harder to get rid of than a demon.
"Not much more," said Aziraphale, who had never done other to get rid of demons than to hint to them very strongly that he, Aziraphale, had some work to be getting on with, and wasn't it getting late? And Crowley had always got the hint.
And I keep thinking about this line because it's so funny but I just cannot reconcile it with the show verse because like. It paints a picture of companionship that's so easy and relaxed, where they're shaking each other out of their hair so they can have a few hours to themselves without worrying about when they'll get to have more of each other. And I want that for show verse Crowley and Aziraphale so badly. But as it stands I find it hard to imagine they've ever managed to spend so much time together that they got sick of each other.
What I would love to see in season three though is a remixed version of the line where Aziraphale is being asked how to summon a demon, and he has to admit he mostly just gets himself kidnapped and waits.
