Idk I just had the intrusive idea of the JL or some hero investigating the GIW or some other group with suspicions of them keeping merfolk or similar what with the giant tanks and what's shown in their paper trails over the years.

Only for Big Ass realms naga to swim by the observation window in the water.

Like I am saying 30ft (9.1m) at the least from head to tail, probably bigger in giant rooms. And like, visibly has been there for a while. Like the GIW have been studying them as the only available specimens after they hypothetically destroyed the portals.

The GIW is the ghost investigation ward after all, not extermination. Though that doesn't mean they're exactly treated the best either- more akin to something like a snake or crow, like semi-intelligent animals like dolphins, chained to make taking samples & dragging them from the ecto-infused waters easier.

And maybe they're a little feral, muzzles on save for feedings preventing them from talking, if they even remember how to make noises that aren't in the words of the Zone anymore.

Maybe they've convinced themselves that it could be worse, they could've been killed like Vlad, like an animal that had bit too much, over and over. Maybe they've convinced themselves that this isn't so bad, even if they're treated less than human, even if they've not seen the sun for who knows how long now.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Design Thoughts?

-Metal Core Valerie, her scales are literally made from it, in blacks and reds like molten gemstones. Her scales are sharp too, designed for easily cutting through stone. Lots of spikes that glow when channeling energy.

-Plant Core Sam, scales designed for plant seeds to catch hold and take root not unlike a sloth's fur, hiding the sharp thorn-like ones lining her backside. Also, acid. Blacks, greens, and flashes of bright purples & greens that hint at the poisonous nature

-Storm Core Tucker, very thick scales designed for going through the sand with side spikes that help channel electricity. Has both a rattle and a pair of stingers that could hypothetically 'plug in' to things as well. Some of the most bioluminescence of the group.

-Ocean Core Jazz, she is the most aquatically designed out of all of them, with lures all across her body that mimics the lights reflecting off water, tricking the mind from noticing her. Large carp-like scales and several rows of teeth. Lots of blues in coloration with hints of oranges & yellows like a sunrise at the sea

-Space Core Danny, with large amounts of spikes and 'vents' that cover him in an aurora if he were free. Spikes with their own miniature gravity forces, twisting the area around him as he moves. Black iridescence & swirling white-blue patterns like galaxies are painted across his body

-Moon Core Ellie, covered in fine needle-esque scales not unlike how actual moondust is. Very rough like sandpaper and a fin that mimics the tail of a comet tinted ecto-green. Mostly monotone colors otherwise.

-Sun Core Jordan, with similar vents to Danny but with flames and plasma. Thick fur at the end of his tail not unlike how Vlad's was, with thick scales that allow for swimming through molten material that could melt anything and anyone else. Blacks, whites, blues, almost like white-hot coals

thank you for the prompt! :) i know it's been a while, but it really fits in current events and my brain is full of these two, soo...

Eris lifts her face up to the cool winds of Titan. The broken, shattered pieces of civilization surround her, cluttering the horizon line. The Hive screams somewhere, always roiling in the depths of metallic corridors which they have taken for themselves.

And yet, she feels calm.

Eris has come here in caution, to see the progress of the salvage jobs. To see Sloane, perhaps, if she could muster the courage and the words to say to her. Eris wishes she could come see Ahsa, too, ask questions of her, but Eris wants to be patient.

Instead, she admires the view.

Footsteps, heavy announcement against the grated metal plates, approach. She needs not turn to know it to be the Drifter's steps.

"Germaine," she says with a breathe of softness that makes her chest ache. She forgot she could do this. Be gentle, say words with a meaning from her heart.

"Moondust," he replies curtly. His coin tinkles as he throws and catches it, over and over. "You shouldn't be out here by yourself."

"I am not by myself," she objects, turning to look at him. Her eyes, all three in poisonous green, focus on him.

"You know what I mean," he looks away. "Titan ain't a safe place, never has been. Now more than ever."

"So it seems."

"I keep worrying if I take a wrong turn, I'll just run straight into good ole Xivu. Who's gonna run the Gambit then?"

"I'm sure there would be arrangements," Eris replies, weighing her words before going on. "But I would rather you do not run into the Hive God of War."

"Care about the Drifter, huh?"

She takes a pause. What a stupid question, she thinks. He keeps playing those strange word games she does not understand nor wants to play. Of course, she cares. Has she not shown it enough? Not said enough?

The agitation must have seeped through her walls, because the Drifter moves, and Eris feels something heavy rest atop her shoulders.

"Here, Moondust," he says casually. "Don't catch a cold."

She feels it, his coat, heavy folds and the scent. Eris shivers harder, not from the weather nor the winds, but the warmth of affection, stored in that single gesture. With one hand, she draws the coat closer around herself, like a protective cocoon.

When she turns to speak to him, the Drifter is gone. But his warmth remains, all around her. And if Eris reads him correctly, this was more than a token of care. That was an invitation, for she must go see him to return the coat.

Eris turns back to the methane oceans and hides a hint of a smile in the folds of the coat. All the Drifter's games.

well that was a disturbing way to end my dream.

the earliest i can remember is offering to show my friend to their classes they can’t locate, before realizing i don’t know where their classes are because they’re in pods i don’t have classes in. see the structure of my school in the dream was this: plain first floor. second floor is separated into four pods, blue, red, green, and purple. third floor is the dull pastel version of second floor, with dusty rose, ‘moondust’ (apparently some kind of mint green), light denim, and violet. moondust was the only one explicitly named the others are just descriptioms based on what i remember from the color palette. and third floor mostly had older kid classes, and i apparently did not, so i didn’t particularly know my way around. and i soon realized this third pod was open, like those rooftops you can just hop off the railing. and this made me scared and nauseous when i looked at the height, so i quickly headed downstairs. now see my school in this dream is apparently a boarding school. breakfast is served on the first floor, lunch second, dinner third. so then we got an announcement saying breakfast was served by some grumpy bitch who said we can’t eat on the third floor. but me and some other girl did it anyway. they were serving sushi, and the girl was talking loudly to herself like “who eats sushi for breakfast?? who?” as if she didn’t go to eat on the floor that serves dinner. after a while, she admits defeat and sits down with a plate, as do i. so we’ve just started eating in silence when we hear some girl screaming in the hallway. i figure it’s probably an altercation or injury, so i say “haha yeah i’m staying up here”. because i don’t want to get involved or hurt. soon after her voice is joined with several other low ugly screams. the girl and i just glance uncomfortably at each other then back at the door. this is where i get really nervous and i think of horror movies, where whoever opens the door dies. i think i’d send her to open it, but i figure she’d probably say no if she has an ounce of self-preservation. so we sit there in increasing panic along with the screams outside, before hearing an emergency siren and that’s where i stand up quickly and “nope! we’re leaving” so i hold my breath in case the issue is co or poison gas, and run down the stairs. i hear paramedics on either side of me but avoid looking at them. i i have a bad feeling of dread like i’ll see an ugly body. i get uncomfortable holding my breath halfway down, but luckily at this point i’m half-awake and can force myself to just shimmy out there fast. so i woke up pretty uncomfortable because that’s not a good dream to have

There are Ways to Kill the Immortal

AI-less Whumptober Day 1: Drugging/Sick/Poisoned

I'm tired and will do tags in the morning,

“How many of these do we have left at this point?” Emily asked as she counted out her arrows.

“I think about 30 still, they’ve been more careful since you shut down their original operation in Riverrun.” Irene explained.

“We get it, another town, another base. Let’s just go in already.” Jamie explained, acting like she wasn’t thinking about how she should have gone home to sharpen her knife before this.

They’d been at this for about 10 years now. Irene had clones herself and like any sci-fi movie ever, they had teamed up and began traveling to take them out.

“It still feels weird splitting up is in our best interest,” Mike laughed.

“Well as long as they still got those damn corruption darts it ain’t safe to be around each other.”

“You know, except for me since a corpse can’t exactly revive herself,” Jamie remarked, beginning to walk with Mike.

“Stay safe everyone.” Irene finally called as they all parted ways.

Jamie held her dagger close as she and Mike wandered the east most hall looking for literally anything. Finding their darts would be the best outcome considering the amount of damage those bastards could cause with fucking corruption. 

The two most basic forms of magic were white purification and black corruption magic, both extremely dangerous, both the clones had dabbled in. White magic they had as a powder than a dart like the black was. They used the white as a fail-safe for their mind control work and the black essentially made beasts.

Granted finding the mind control devices and breaking those would be equally useful.

They peaked into a room they had someone from the town tied up in,

“Do you see the dart they’re loading in the gun?”

“Yeah..completely bandless…what do you think they’re trying.”

“New dart, trail 16. Subject,” The clone turned from the captive, “The bot and the halfbreed.”

Realizing they’d been heard, the two split up and ran.

Meanwhile, Emily snuck around to find the clones themselves whether for information on what their plans or to take one or two out would depend on how many were there and if she could get a good enough vantage point. No matter what, anything could be useful. She followed one of the bots to a lab room with darts & parts galore.

“Bingo.” She carefully opened the vents, readied her bow, and aimed for their weakest point. 

The stone arrowhead jammed into the neck and the bot fell to the ground sparking. Emily jumped down glancing over the darts, black band for corruption, purple for magic affecting moondust, gray for knockout serum, and…

“What the hell are blank darts for?”

“Well we can't have you finding that out can we?” Irene A Clone laughed from behind and shot Emily with a gray banded dart before she could even turn around.

In other parts of the base debated on playing it safe and hidden or trying to blend in with her mistake for information. But if her fear was recognized, she’d be interrogated for sure, granted she still had her necklace but that was only for an absolute– no other way out –emergency. She decided to wander around, trying to look like belonged there, just had to hope to find something before her enemy did. Granted it had been Mike & her’s base before all this so she did technically know where certain things were, but many things had been moved around. Plus they were doing very different things. She passed a lab room to see Emily getting knocked out.

Frick.

Not thinking she grabbed her gun hand gun & took out the clone really hoping no one was close enough to hear. Irene scooped her friend up and noticed the blank dart herself and wondered what in the multiverse they were up to this time. But never mind that, for that she did need to get Emily Safe.

Back at the entrance the four came back together. Only Irene was still carrying Emily and Jamie was on the floor, one the new darts in her arm.

“You got any ideas on what the hell these new darts are?” Irene snapped as she knelt down to take a look wondering why no one was around, unless it was a corruption dart it wasn't like them to just leave the victim on the ground.

“Poison, I saw them talking about it, but I don’t know what type, they noticed me..” Mike was pale as could be, why didn’t they run the same direction?!

“I-it’s fine, let’s just get out of here, stab Jamie in the forest and recon in a starpeak hotel.”

“No.”

“What?”

“Jamie…Jamie can’t revive from poison. We. We talked about it a while ago. We need to get back to Riverrun. Now.”

Emily woke up as they got back and was able to get an explanation while Jamie was put in bed. Mike began poison testing and she awoke just after he finished. Her head hurt, everything ached, & she felt hot. But how? She was half fire demon, she didn’t get ‘hot’.”

“Hey Jamie~”

“Fucking hell. Why does everything hurt?”

“You got darted at the base, you’ll be okay. It’s a minor poison, it should pass even without an antidote,” He lied.

She laughed slightly, “So it's basically like your damn mortal flu? If that's all, then I should pry just go home to the demon realm, so I can take care of myself better there.”

“No! I mean, we don’t know if the poison will react to the realm change, considering it's not a thing that’s ever been studied. And with you not being able to-”

“Yeah okay I get it. But still don’t worry about me. I can take care of myself.”

“Alright, alright.”

“So what are we actually working with?”

“It’s called Kyotin. The symptoms are nothing serious, as Jamie already noticed it’s meant to mimic a normal flu, but if we don’t get her help, it’s gonna kill her.”

“How long do we have?”

“About a week likely.”

“What are we gonna do?”

“Only thing we can do. Find an Antidote.”

Zenith Code and Her Enchanted Garden #1: Potent Poison, Treasured Tonic by @moondust-bard

All of @moondust-bard‘s pitches were really captivating, but I’d like to highlight these two in particular. Zenith Code pretty much did the impossible by getting me interested in something overtly dystopian, and the concept behind it is really fascinating. Potent Poison, Treasured Tonic reminds me of something I would read for comfort when I was younger, and I’m excited to see how its themes tie into its plot. Both of them make me sorely want to pick them up and plow through them; curse the fact that they have to be written first!

Closet Pun and Homebirds by @surroundedbypearls

What can I say? I’m a sucker for supernatural characters getting grips on their powers and interacting in a casual setting, and when LGBT+ themes and found family are thrown on top of that, I’m hooked. Plus, the conflict in Closet Pun seems really captivating! And Homebirds seems to have a similar tone, with characters from all different origins working together. I’m excited to dig deeper into each!

Howdy, fellow WIP with a main character named after a bug! The conspiracy in this one is just captivating, and like I said before, I’m not usually that into overt dystopians, but something about this one just caught my eye. Maybe it’s the aesthetic, maybe because I really like stories that explore company cities, maybe the themes; but like before, I adore the LGBT+ (and especially the QPR) representation!

Katherine Winchester is the child of a knife and a gun.

She sees fire behind her lids, breathes smoke and ashes, haunted by the ghost of a mother she never knew and tormented by a father she doesn't want to claim as hers. She is scraped knees and silent cries, quiet screams muffled by teeth sunk in flesh, moondust and black holes, gunpowder and gasoline.

A poppy with beautiful petals and poisonous seeds, a speck of blood and cursed life in the valley of death.

If sons have to be soldiers, then what are daughters supposed to be?

John Winchester probably had written the answer somewhere in his journal but his youngest child never got to opportunity to read it.

A family is a car, a yell, and a gun.

Three pieces of a broken promise not knowing how to mend themselves and turn against the one who broke them. So they turn against each other.

And Katherine is the yell.

And she'll yell loud enough that all of space and time will hear.

No I have not inserted myself back into the Ahit fandom and immediately made an au about the Conductor having a genetic disorder that made him closer to his feral ancestors rather than the rest of his more civilized siblings after reading some fanfics about DJGrooves and the Conductor. No I would never do that.

.............so basically hes the only one of his siblings that can actually fly and if toppled over his breaking point he can go into a half feral rage. But he can get talked down from.

And later in the story, thanks to his disorder he's not immune to the dreaded Moon Dust that DJGrooves and the rest of the penguins drag into the studio. So he gets MoonDust poisoning and desperately tries to hide it. Hes heard that it's not uncommon to be fatal, but as if hes gonna take a break to enjoy his life. As if he has anywhere to go but the studio itself anyway.

(Might as well put this here but MoonDust poisoning effects only birds and the side effects come in stages where (like rabies most of the time (or so I've heard) when the side effects show, it's too late) The disease will effect the brain and genetic make up of the bird, bringing up old habits and if listened to the Bird's feathers will start falling out and turning blue, starting from a focal point. The more they listen, the more feathers turn blue. But as long as they fight (or find their own unique way of having it paused somehow (Conductor ends up having the mental take over delayed thanks to Snatcher)) the poisoning wouldnt take over their mind, practically turning them into a false knock off of those moon penguins.

But that doesnt mean it still wouldnt kill them if they're not careful, as the infected bird's body/DNA is being morphed. When completely infected the bird's body would be a pale moon like blue, webbed feet/hands, and larger lungs. For swimming. But since MoonPenguins tend to not swin, most dont have them. But remember The Conductor has a genetic disorder. And that's the scary part. Everything else and he would be mostly fine. But his lungs? Luckily he survived that.

In the end Hat Kid manages to grab a time piece and gives it to the Conductor. So now his condition can be switched between MoonOwl and TrainConductor. But if he goes back into movie filming depends entirely on him.

Pouting And Coughing

Pairing: Desire x Human!Reader

Summary: A witch curses Desire with illness and their lover has to take care of the sick Endless

For their entire life, Desire had been working under the pretty much completely accurate assumption that they were incapable of getting sick. That sickness was for weak mortals and that they were better than that. 

However, they were finding out that while they were immune to human illness, they were not immune to magic-induced illness. Not immune to the anger of a witch who only wanted to cause Desire discomfort and sickness.

Desire wasn't usually used to other people seeking revenge for the trouble that the Endless had caused. And even if someone did, they were sure that they were able to protect themself from it. But the witch was smart, and went after Desire's human lover. 

Knowing that the poison the witch used would kill any human, Desire took the effects of the spell upon themself. Getting an illness from the poison, but being too powerful to die. 

Their lover (Y/N) took it upon themself to take care of Desire, knowing it was only fair and hating to see their powerful partner in pain. It was only after they started that they realized how much of a child Desire was when they were sick.

"(Y/N)!" They whined, stretching over their chair. "I don't like this." 

They had been pouting and complaining for the last hour, not used to feeling as bad as they were. (Y/N) chuckled slightly. "I know, babe. I know." They went over to Desire, allowing the Endless to cuddle up against them. "It'll wear off in a few hours."

They coughed. "I want it to wear off now." 

"I know." (Y/N) kissed their forehead. "It sucks. Can I get you anything? Are you hungry?" 

Desire felt nauseous at the idea of food. They normally enjoyed their lover's cooking despite not really needing to eat. But in the moment, the thought of it was incredibly unappealing. They shook their head. "No." 

They just wanted to stay in (Y/N)'s arms, feeling only a little bit better when their lover was holding them. "Okay, sweetheart. You let me know if you need anything." (Y/N) told them, stroking a hair through their short pale hair.

Soon, Desire would go back to their teasing, powerful self. But for the moment, the two of them were wrapped up tight, keeping each other warm and safe. Ego put aside when Desire wasn't feeling like their best self.
