some of you may know i’m graduating today, and monster high has been such a huge part of my life i had to commemorate it!

It’s come to my attention that apparently many of you have not seen the movie Us and you don’t understand how amazing some of the accessories are! I’m a huge fan of easter eggs in character designs and I love this movie! ✂️ 🐇

(This post may contain spoilers, if you can I highly recommend watching this movie)

These two characters are Adelaide in white and Red in red. They are both played by Lupita Nyong’o and are meant to be tethered/mirrored versions of each other.

Starting off we have the box art background which was already previously leaked, it is of young Adelaide at a fair and it shows the house of mirrors she gets lost in which is a very important role in the movie

Then we have the classroom with stick figures on the chalkboard on the box, this is from the underground classrooms and is a drawing of all the tethered people

if you’ve heard of Us you should definitely know about Red’s scissors, you could not make a doll without these scissors, they were all over promotional posters, not only are they creepy but they do also represent something important for Red in the film

Red’s earrings are paper cut outs of tethered people and Adelaide’s earrings are the handcuffs that Red locked her up in

Adelaide’s outfit keeps core elements with the layering but the blood looks amazing and I’m so happy they went with it, she also has a pattern which I believe is bunnies but I could be wrong

Adelaide’s hair accessory is a fire poker, her main weapon in the movie

Adelaide has charms on her belt and I couldn’t tell what they were but my friend @the-ghost-rat pointed out that the top one is a ballerina! Ballet is a way that Adelaide expressed herself after she went through a trauma. The dolls also both wear pointe shoes which is a detail that I saw confused some people but I love it (also I love that they included some blood on the shoes!)

And finally (for now) the pet bunnies may seem random if you haven’t seen the movie (honestly the bunnies were a confusing part of the movie on a first watch) but there are a lot of bunnies in the film, it’s not just some random thing they threw in there I can’t even explain it

Another detail I really love is that Red looks like she is crying (at least in the art she does) and it is a beautiful detail to include. I can’t wait for these dolls to release and get better photos of them!

When it comes to the whole "object heels" thing, my opinion is basically that sometimes they're clever and cool, and sometimes they're a little too on the nose where they just come across as kinda corny (and downright ugly in some cases)

Overall though, I think the designers at Mattel are over-relying on them right now for Skullector dolls, to the point where they're not really exciting. You can design really cool shoes without defaulting to just slapping an overly complicated shape as a heel and calling it a day. Gen 1, and even Gen 3, have plenty of examples.

Late November til Christmas is the Starkid’s Black Friday time of year so let’s combine the two things I’ve been watching nonstop for the past month into a Wiggly Skullector doll??? That’s right folks this post is for a NICHE audience but most importantly it makes me happy and my fiancé said it would be cool. For a name I’m thinking… Wiggy G. Wrath? Like… like Twiggy? I’m not sure.

Today's Anti-Kawaii Character of The Day is the Monster High Skullector Annabelle Doll by Mattel Creations! She wears Guro Lolita!

(I will try to avoid spoilers but I make to promises!)

So before I noticed one of the charms on Adelaide’s belt was a ballerina which is a significant part of her characters past, and now I am realizing the other two charms are a rabbit and a strawberry. The strawberry is alluding to this scene, there is a notable reason and Adelaide tends to eat different from other characters we see.

I also couldn’t tell in the first picture what Red’s eyebrows looked like and I was a little scared they could make the doll look funny but they work perfectly, and the tears are the perfect touch I feel like they really bring the doll/character to life in a way

The writing on the shoes says “tethered together” and “find yourself” and usually I’m not the biggest fan of writing on dolls clothes but this feels like a nice nod so what the premise of the movie is and how Adelaide and Red are just two sides of the same coin in a way

We can also see the patterns on their clothes a bit better and Adelaide does have bunnies in a kind of “camo” pattern and Red has a monogram of a bunch of the red tethered people paper cut outs

I am a big fan of what they have been doing in g3 and making personalized eye shines so I’m very happy about Red’s scissors shine and whatever Adelaide has in her eyes (I think they’re safety pins? I can’t exactly tell?)

I also talked about bunnies in my last post (not very well bc they’re very confusing but they’re important!)

I actually hadn't seen Jennifer's Body until recently, but after watching it, the idea of Jennifer being a Skullector would not leave my mind (could she be in a two pack with Needy? Oh for sure, but she's also stunning and deadly all on her own 😈🥰)
