America is sucky and so is capitalism, but man do I love hearing about immigrants who were able to come here and open their own business and make a new life for themselves. 😭
Seeing restaurants and shops owned by first generation immigrants is just so special about America you really don't see that in too many other countries
We really do be selling a dream as a country and so few are able to reach it, but love when it's an underdog reaching it.

Mochinut, 3756 W Ave 40, Ste 2A, Los Angeles (Glassell Park), CA 90065
Tumblr media
My first Korean hot dog of the year. It’s been over a year since I visited a Mochinut. The Mochinut in Glassell Park has mochi doughnuts, Korean hot dogs, Groundwork organic coffee, and boba drinks. They had over 12 kinds of mochi doughnuts ($4 each). For the Korean dogs, you choose the outside (e.g., ramen, potato), then the inside (sausage, mozzarella, or half & half) and the sauce. The original hot dog is $5. The Korean dog places I went to in the past let you add your own sauce.
Mochi donuts are made with sweet glutinous rice flour, so they are chewier than your typical donut. They’re have a ring of balls shape. The base donut is the same but they add different glazes and sugar coatings. Ive had glazed ones in the past and they’re too sweet.
Powdered sugar mochi donut ($4): still a little warm…the donut was better (chewier and crispier) than I remembered. It’s really like eating fried crispy mochi.
Hot Cheetos Korean dog with ½ mozz, ½ sausage: The flavor is in the batter. The sausage didn’t have much flavor. The Korean dog is like a crispy corn dog – lots of batter, very crunchy. The mozz had lots of long cheese pulls. The sweetness of the batter with the saltiness and spiciness of the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos was heaven.
The Korean dogs are made to order and take about 6 minutes. Parking was easy to find in the strip mall. The shop was cute and had areas meant for nice social media backdrops.
4 out of 5 stars
