Fever Tree, 2022
I originally found this brand for their tonic, but quickly became of fan of their ginger beer, which this cap is from.
A silly cocktail I make using this soda is called a Panda Expression. It’s equal parts ginger beer and orange juice with a shot of Drumshambo’s gunpowder green tea gin, garnished with mulled black peppercorns and an orange peel.

The Science Behind the Perfect Shot: Exploring Shot Glass Shape
Tumblr media
In the world of bars and bartending, shot glasses are a staple that are essential for any successful night. Whether you're a seasoned bartender or someone who likes to entertain at home, knowing the ins and outs of it can make all the difference when it comes to creating the perfect shot. In this blog, we'll delve into the professional mindset on shot glasses, exploring their history, types, and how to use them effectively.
The History of Shot glasses have a rich history that dates back hundreds of years. They were first introduced in the early 1700s, when alcohol began to be served in smaller portions. Shot glasses were originally made of glass, and they were designed to hold a single measure of alcohol. In fact, the term "shot" was derived from the practice of pouring a shot of powder into a musket to fire it.
Over the years, these glasses have evolved to become more than just a vessel for alcohol. They're now used to serve all sorts of drinks, including cocktails, liqueurs, and even beer. These glasses are also a popular souvenir item and are often sold in gift shops.
Here are some of the most common types of Shot Glasses come in a variety of shapes and sizes, each designed for a specific purpose :
Standard Shot Glass - The most common type of shot glass, the standard, this is usually made of glass and holds around 1.5 to 2 ounces of liquid. It's the go-to shot glass for most bartenders and is used to serve everything from tequila to whiskey.
Tall Shot Glass - A tall shot glass is a bit larger than a standard shot glass and is usually around 2.5 to 3 ounces in size. It's designed for layered shots and is often used to serve drinks like the B-52 or the Irish Car Bomb.
Double Shot Glass - A double shot glass is exactly what it sounds like - a shot glass that's designed to hold a double shot of alcohol. It's usually around 3 to 4 ounces in size and is perfect for drinks like the Long Island Iced Tea.
Jigger - A jigger is a measuring tool used to measure out precise amounts of alcohol. It's typically made of metal and comes in a variety of sizes, with the most common being 1.5 ounces and 2 ounces.
Effectively knowing how to use shot glasses effectively is key to creating the perfect shot. We have some tips for you to keep in mind:
Chill the Glass - Before pouring the alcohol, chill the shot glass in the freezer for a few minutes. This will keep the drink colder for longer and enhance the flavor.
Measure Precisely - Use a jigger to measure out the precise amount of alcohol for your shot. This will ensure that the drink is consistent and not too strong or weak.
Add Mixers Carefully - If you're making a mixed shot, be sure to add the mixers carefully so that the drink doesn't overflow. It's also important to stir the drink gently so that the flavors are well combined.
Sip and Savor - Shots are meant to be sipped and savored, not downed in one gulp. Take your time and enjoy the flavors of the drink.
Be Responsible - Remember to always drink responsibly and never drink and drive.
In conclusion, shot glasses are a key element in any bar or party setting. Whether you're a bartender or a home entertainer, knowing the different types of shot glasses and how to use them effectively can take your drink game to the next level. Buy your favourite shot glass from Boozlo . So, chill your glass, measure your pour precisely, add mixers carefully, sip and savor.
