so tired of seeing all the shauna haters say they ‘love complex female characters’ because shauna is THE complex female character in yellowjackets. her behaviour is never explained at surface level and that’s what makes her so fascinating to dive into !!!

shauna’s trauma is formed differently from the others’, most closely aligned with misty’s i would say. while misty is able to be herself and therefore outcasted, shauna isn’t herself at all to avoid being outcasted. she mentions this time and time again, especially in her fight with jackie where she confesses that she lets jackie choose what she wears, who she hooks up with, who she’s friends with, what sport she plays, what she does and says every day. she’s completely debilitated by her need to please others.

when people call her ‘cruel’ or ‘mean’, they are talking about jackie’s personality !!! because that’s exactly what shauna is until jackie’s death and even long after - a carbon copy of jackie. shauna has bursts of anger in a way jackie doesn’t because this whole character she’s putting on is exhausting to play.

even hooking up with jeff is her trying to become jackie. she wants her children to be jackie’s, not with jackie and herself, but purely jackie’s. she longs for the one thing she can’t have, the one person she can’t be OR be with.

from the moment she finds out she’s pregnant in the wilderness, she’s already undergoing the most trauma out of all of them. maybe not before, of course with nat’s dad and coach martinez’s death, but as soon as she finds that out she’s condemned to a life of suffering and she knows it.

i always see people saying they don’t like her ‘before her trauma’ but the version of her after jackie’s death IS the real shauna !!! that’s the point !!!

if you like jackie, you’re liking shauna. if you defend misty, you’re defending shauna. she is the most complex character in that she’s not morally grey, she’s morally black AND white

What was the bad Yellowjackets take you blocked someone over? (I’m curious)

Some backstory: I’m a 25 year old trans man who was a teenager once. And I lost a lot of people I was close with. Travis isn’t a shitty person. He’s going thru it and has had character development. I’m not saying his actions or his words are defendable but he’s a TEENAGER in the 90s! Like I’m really tired of people just forgetting they were all teenagers. Like I also see Misty hate and Jackie hate ??? Like I love all the characters but Shauna as much as I love her, she was the mean girl. But teenagers do dumb thing like be misogynistic due to ignorance or fuck their best friends boyfriend.

Essentially what I’m saying is… they are kids. That still have growing to do so don’t judge too harshly. I did and said some stupid things when I was a kid.

I've been thinking if there truly is an 8th survivor from the wilderness who would I want it to be.

In my heart I want it to be akilah but for the plot I want it to be been.

I just think it'd be interesting to see the different and unique perspectives of the victims in the same situation and how their actions varied. In the group of girls + Travis thoughts and actions varied but not to the severity that Ben's did with how he completely left the group and went against them. Also just seeing how he would deal with everything modern day considering he's the only one who hasn't eaten a human(at least so far) and how he would interact with the other survivors. I mean the wilderness is kind of working overtime to keep this man alive. No leg infections, conveniently has 2 perfectly shaped sticks as canes, made it past a suicidal state, and somehow survived starvation when the girls where eating jackie. Now he's living in the same place a 13yr old survived for months. And If he was still alive he'd only be in his mid-late 50s so he could still be an interactive character in the adult timeline. Just give him a leg prosthetic.

Although I do think I'd be interesting to see, I also think there's an 85% chance they're going to eat that man alive. Pulling his leg hair out their mouth like it's a popcorn kernel. I mean look at this. Unless he finally hit the delusions everyone else is having, he's probably not going to make it.

I just think it would be more interesting to see than another teammate. It'd also be pretty funny, like that would be one awkward ride home
