25/10/24// I just had ingrown toenail surgery. It was certainly an experience. I was definitely not screaming through it…/s. After the initial injection of anaesthetic (which was kind of awful) it wasn’t painful which was a pleasant surprise, but the sensation of having it done was its own special kind of horribleness and set me off. The surgical team were really nice, told jokes and talked about their cats the entire time which I was thankful for.
I have to try and stay off my foot for the rest of the day which is hard when my other leg has sciatica.
I’m proud of myself for getting through it. From the moment I lay down I was fighting the urge to blurt out that I wanted them to stop and cancel it but I managed not to.

What a drag it is getting old.
Colon cancer screening stuff under the cut.
Friday will be my last solid meal before my colonoscopy on tuesday. On Saturday I can only have liquids but on Saturday I can have milk or dairy or any kind of creamy soup or any kind of soup really. But it's all liquids.
The next day is clearl liquid all day so basically just chicken broth and water but they did tell me I could have coffee in the morning just no cream.
On Monday it is the same thing, water, 7UP, and then I get to start that gigantic jug of basically just relaxative to drink all day long. I have five to seven hours to drink this entire jug.
Tumblr media
Then at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday I get to go actually have the colonoscopy.
I could have done colon guard but I----TMI--- needed to have a GYN exam, and I am built so small that usually only female doctors know how to do it without causing me pain. And even then, it's pretty damn uncomfortable.
This year was the first time I've ever had a guy doctor do it, and it was so painful and said to tell him to stop and forget about it. So he is going to do it while I am unconscious during the colonoscopy. I could've used the colon guard, but by doing the invasive colonoscopy, I won't have to have another one for 10 years, while colon guard is only good for three I believe.
Having low blood sugar is going to make this a real adventure. So Monday I am leaving work at 12:00 to start my private home because basically I will be on the toilet the rest of the day. I'm worried about my blood sugar the other day that I have to be at work but what can you do. The day that I can have regular liquids I'll probably do apple juice a lot that seems to help keep my sugar up.
And while the rest of the district is going back on Monday, we are going back tomorrow even though the entire school is under construction and nobody will have air conditioning. AND is going to be 100°

I get a very small liver resection done tomorrow. Should be minor
I was planning to bring my finger-woven belt WIP with me as entertainment for the hospital stay, but my lovely spouse pointed out that attempting a complicated pattern while on the Strong Painkillers was perhaps unwise.
All of my WIPs have complicated patterns, though..,
Contemplating whether it’s worth starting a very boring scarf, just to have something to do.

"I try not to be grumpy, but I can indeed come off as a grump-a-lump. Especially when I am in distress. I’m having major trouble with my feeding tube over the course of the past.. ::Counts on fingers:: Oh, as long as it has been implanted. One of my doctors said it kind of reminds her of an organ constantly being rejected. I mean. Make of that what you will. They’re not supposed to be this finicky. They’re supposed to just stay in and not suck so much. At the same time, I have also been told that feeding tubes are harder to keep in place if you have gastroparesis. So. I mean.. I do have gastroparesis. That’s an annoying thing that I do have.
Recently, I was at home when I felt my feeding tube dislodge. It’s a thing I can feel. The balloon will usually pop..."

Life update
A little late but there arent any date stamps anyways so whatevs
Anywho! So last wk i got a minor operation on my left side
What we all thought was just fat or lymphoma was apparently a cyst (benign tho so we guds) the only reason y i even got the operation was cuz it grew from the last time i took note of it (hs and uni) so yuh
Frustrated a bit by the minimal movement
Im finally allowed to have the stitches removed but bcuz I’m busy today I’ll have to delay it to tom
Ugh i hope this doesn’t take too long to heal completely; i miss being able to move and stretch freely
Funny tho how everyone around me forgets i was cut open just a wk ago so they’re mildly surprised when i have to turn down physical activities smh 🤦‍♀️😂😂

The Consultant: this is a really minor surgery and the likelihood is that you’re going to be absolutely fine
The Leaflets: so you’re going to die xo

Benefits of working in medicine:
Free toenail wedge removal because the outside edge of my big toe likes to curl inwards, which causes much pain when walking and frequent ingrown infections.
Cons of working in medicine:
I know the reason why my toe hurts like a bitch right now is because someone fucked up the supply order and ordered a shit ton (around 100mL) of 10mg/mL lidocaine instead of our usual 20mg/mL lidocaine, so the shit injected into my toe (painful as fuck) is half as effective as it should be.
Owwwwwwww.

Oof! Sorry about the rare side effects. That's awful.
Cool about the convo, though! I had to have a biopsy done recently and all I could do was cry and apologize to the doctors for crying. I wish I could have had neat animal facts to talk about.
Hello and salutations everybody, I had a minor surgical procedure this morning and when the Doc asked me to tell him a fun fact to distract me I started infodumping about subterranean mammals

For the wings au... is there no uhhh. Safer?? Way to remove the wings like idk a surgery? Jamils family seems to (in some form cus I'm sure there's a better way) choose the painful and shitty health method of knife cutting like, every year?month? Like it sucks anyways but come on the health issues...
Anyways the art is amazing and it hurts so gooood
Oh, there would definitely be safer ways.
But they would leave traces. Official surgeries and all that involve a lot of time, paperwork and money, especially for a thing that has to be repeated very regularly.
And the Viper's problem is that NOBODY can know. Words travel fast, especially amongst servants. Should anybody figure out something is going on with them, that could bring problems to the whole family without a single feather having to be seen.
So secrecy it is. And pain.
For their safety.
(I'm glad you enjoy this series <3)
