Serbian actress Milena Radulovic took the stand at Belgrade Higher Court on Tuesday, testifying that her former drama teacher, Miroslav ‘Mika’ Aleksic, sexually assaulted her after she had been taking his classes for six years, while she was still a teenager.
“It’s a feeling of such betrayal because a man who I trusted so much, who was a supreme authority and who I felt in awe of, caused me such pain,” Radulovic told the court.
She explained that she start taking acting lessons when she was 11 and that she loved to attend the classes.
But she said that when she was 17 years old, Aleksic sexually assaulted her – the first of what she said were several attacks that followed in the months afterwards.
“I was losing my confidence, wondering why it is only happening to me, why is he punishing me?” she testified.
Aleksic is on trial for multiple cases of rape and illicit sexual acts against seven women, all members of his drama group.
At the start of his trial in February 2022, Aleksic denied the charges, calling the indictment a “ghastly mistake”. He finished presenting his defence in October 2022.
He was arrested after daily newspaper Blic published an interview with Radulovic, who said Aleksic had raped her when she was 17 years old and then subsequently subjected her to further sexual violence.
Radulovic said that before filing a complaint about Aleksic, she was afraid that tabloid journalists would find out about it and twist her story inaccurately, which is why she gave the interview to Blic.
“I wanted my story to be heard originally, from me so they would not have material to spin,” she said.
She said that she decided to report Aleksic several years after the assaults because she found out in the meantime that other women had also been subjected to sexual violence by the drama teacher and that she would “feel guilty if I kept quiet and he continued”.
Another actress, Iva Ilincic, has also spoke out publicly about similar experiences with Aleksic.
At the beginning of the trial, Aleksic tried to discredit Radulovic, Ilincic and his accusers with claims about their private lives and careers.
He called Ivana Jasnic Mastilovic, the Blic journalist who conducted interviews with both women, “one of the leaders of the media lynch mob”.
Aleksic was a film director who in the 1980s worked at the Radio Belgrade drama unit, and he later established his own private drama studio, Matter of the Heart (Stvar srca).
His acting school was popular and, according to some media, around 3,000 people attended his classes over four decades. Many of Serbia’s most famous actors, TV presenters and journalists attended the school.
Aleksic told the court he was “not a teacher” and did not run an “acting school” but a production company, at which he worked with talented children once a week. He said the prosecution wanted “to convict a personality in the absence of evidence for the alleged crimes”.
The women’s accusations have drawn support from their colleagues and other public figures and NGOs.

Something possessed me to blind buy this Blu-ray last week and I gotta say, while the movie is not perfect, I enjoyed it quite a lot.
I definitely recommend it to fans of practical effects because the makeup and monster effects are gooey and full of air bladders, just as they should be.

A former pupil of the well-known acting teacher Miroslav “Mika” Aleksic told Belgrade’s Higher Court on Friday that she was frightened to report the sexual abuse she’d survived when it happened.
She tesitifed that she was abused in 2015 but only reported it to the police in 2021, after other former pupils spoke out about what had happened to them.
Aleksic is indicted for multiple cases of rape and illicit sexual acts against seven women, all then members of a drama group he taught.
This former pupil testified that in November 2020 Milena Radulovic, the Serbian actress who first spoke publicly about the alleged violence, told her she was going to report it.
“If she hadn’t said she was going to do it, as well as other girls, I don’t know if I would have done it,” she told the court.
She reported the accusations a couple of days after Aleksic was arrested. She said she also did not tell her parents what had happened until after she went to the police.
She is third victim to speak before the court, all in public sessions. She was visibly shaken and cried at times.
At the start of his trial, in February 2022, Aleksic denied the charges, calling the indictment a “ghastly mistake”. He finished presenting his defence in October.
He was arrested in January 2021 and spent some eight months in custody. The arrest happened soon after the daily Blic published an interview with Milena Radulovic, who said Aleksic had raped her when she was 17 years old and that the sexual violence was repeated.
The other actress who publicly spoke out about similar experiences with Aleksic was Iva Ilincic.
At the beginning of the trial, Aleksic tried to discredit Radulovic, Ilincic and his other accusers, with claims about their private lives and careers. He called Ivana Jasnic Mastilovic, the Blic journalist who published both interviews, “one of the leaders of the media lynch”.
Aleksic was a film director who in the 1980s worked at the drama group of Radio Belgrade, while he later established his own private drama studio, “Matter of the heart” [Stvar srca].
His acting school was popular and, according to some media, around 3,000 people attended his classes over four decades. Many of Serbia’s most famous actors, TV presenters and journalists attended the school.
Aleksic told the court he was “not a teacher” and did not run “an acting school” but a production company, at which he worked with talented children once a week. He said the prosecution wanted “to convict a personality in the absence of evidence for the alleged crimes”.
The women’s accusations have drawn sharp responses from the public. Support for both Radulovic and Ilincic has come from their colleagues and other public figures and NGOs.

Oooh that house Stark gifset... Yesss!! Who are the fancasts? (And where are they from?)
Hi! I used footage mainly from the following shows:
- Sofiya/Софи́я (2016)
- The Terrible/Грозный (2020)
The fancasts I can't easily identify are Lyarra's (character briefly appeared in The Golden Horde/Золотая Орда 2018), Eddard's and Benjen's (both from The Terrible), but the rest are:
- Rickard*: Evgeniy Tsyganov (Sofiya)
- Brandon: Ilya Ilinykh (Sofiya)
- Lyanna: Milena Radulovic (The Terrible) - unfortunately much older than actual Lyanna, but I really liked her face + I think it matches with the general vibe Lyanna had

Activists hope the outpouring will leave lasting change in a region where patriarchal attitudes dominate and where previous #MeToo movements against sexual violence and harassment have been limited in scale.
Tumblr media
When a Serbian actress accused her former drama teacher of rape last week, the reaction was seismic: thousands of women across the Balkans have since come forward with their own stories, united under the banner, #NisiSama or #YouAreNotAlone.
Tumblr media
Activists hope the outpouring will leave lasting change in a region where patriarchal attitudes dominate and where previous #MeToo movements against sexual violence and harassment have been limited in scale.
Much of the catharsis is taking place online, thanks to a new Facebook page called Nisam Trazila, which means "I didn't ask for it", created by Bosnian actresses.
"For years I have been gathering my courage to tell someone, to calm my soul, to resurrect the dead child inside me," one young woman wrote on the page about the trauma of a sexual assault she suffered at age 14.
She and others have been emboldened by 25-year-old Milena Radulovic, the actress who broke the dam when she told her story to the Serbian newspaper Blic in an interview published on January 17.
Radulovic accused a famous 68-year-old Belgrade theatre teacher and producer, Miroslav Aleksic, of raping her and abusing other students at his prestigious drama school.
Her testimony — and that of several other alleged victims — saw Aleksic arrested the following day on accusations of rape and sexual assault. He has denied all allegations.
Radulovic, who is currently based in Russia, said she was motivated to protect other students from harm.
"I feel a huge responsibility towards those children, towards society, but also towards myself. This is a thing that must be brought to an end," she said.

Superdeep
Tumblr media
It’s certainly interesting that Aaron Syuhin and Sergey Torchilin’s SUPERDEEP (2020) manages to critique Russian militarism by setting its story in the waning days of the Soviet Union. I just wish they’d made a better movie. Anna (Milena Radulovic), an epidemiologist still reeling from past mistakes, is assigned to accompany a military team to a subterranean research station in the Arctic that’s discovered something nasty down below. The something nasty is a fungus that takes over human beings. The military hopes to weaponize it, even as Anna comes to suspect it could prove virtually unstoppable. It’s basically ATTACK OF THE MUSHROOM PEOPLE (1963) with a massive dose of self-importance. Syuhin and Torchilin create some strong visuals, particularly black-and-white flashbacks to Anna’s past and the design of the fungus among us. But the film is too long and too dreary. Worse still, Anna’s the only fully defined human being in the film. When poorly defined characters suddenly do good or evil things, it isn’t shocking or moving. It’s just an annoying plot contrivance.
