Michael's skill description kinda scares me because if he works like Ifrit he's going to be meta-defining as fuck. High DPS despite having a straight-line range, especially if he'll hit everyone in his range.
Meanwhile I can imagine Gabriel working a little bit like Manticore for his normal attacks, just without the slow. Also uncertain if he hits everyone in his range. Probably not, unless the devs want to try out something new.
Raphael I feel would work like a more broken Shamare (bc global Attack down despite not lowering Defense, and having Broken Shit for angel teams). I just didn't use her here because the tag combinations make Slow integral - she doesn't have Slow.
Yeah...Ifrit carried. Most strats in this map, back when CC11 was on, had a strong and consistent DPS for R18. For ranged, usually if not the likes of Pozyömka or Schwarz, then the likes of Ifrit. For melee? Mlynar and SilverAsh and Surtr, who else do you think could DPS the lifeguard robots, dockworkers, cars, and Ehrgeitzs down? I used a modified low-rarity Pozyömka strat for my R18 run - definitely one of the easier CC main maps apart from Blade.

I've been too scared to say it, but yes I agree. I'm of the opinion that you can't keep on using the "first gacha game from a small dev team" excuse after a certain point, because this just reeks of very predatory pricing strategies with little to no regards for a positive gameplay experience. I keep on telling others interested in WHB if they're interested in tower defense gameplay and not the charas/plot of WHB in particular, then just play Arknights (which, news flash, has the angel/Sankta Executor the Ex Foedere releasing in 5 hours!) or Path to Nowhere. It's that bad, and I can't recommend WHB in good faith knowing what already happened in the game. Especially when I see so many questionable decisions in the tower defense portion that is just a huge turn-off for me to keep playing.
Paywalling units in a gacha, especially units that are meta-defining, will always leave a sour taste in my mouth. I don't particularly enjoy the Resplendent Hero mechanic for Fire Emblem Heroes, but I grit my teeth and accept it nonetheless because they're buffs for older units that don't exactly break the game in half despite being paid (if you want a game-breaking set of units look no further than the current Christmas banner with Duo Byleth, Dimitri, Edelgard, and Yunaka). The only reason why I'd consider buying Resplendent Takumi is because Takumi is my fave Fire Emblem character, that's it.
And I absolutely HATE to bring this up again but Limbus Company, despite being the first gacha game from a dev team with roughly the same size as WHB (in fact I wager Limbus has less staff working on the game, since around half of their 30-ish staff members work at their merch café), did a ton of research on gachas and their gameplay. The end result is an amazing game that, despite its buggy release, was loved because of the amazing world and characters, intuitive gameplay which is basically a more streamlined and remixed Library of Ruina (their previous game), and general generosity. Which unfortunately all came crashing down after the Vellmori debacle back in July.
But yeah, that's my own two cents. I want to love this game, I really do. But at this point I've already considered dropping the game multple times, and the dev team's decisions just aren't helping their case.
I've seen a lot of people at the beginning saying "don't be so mean, it's their first gacha game"... Sorry? Not even obey me is so unfair! I truly love this game & the characters & most of the fandom, if I didn't want Lucifer so badly then I'd just quit & now I'm afraid that he's gonna be behind a paywall.
Like, they didn't even look at how other gachas work? Cuz that's the first thing you do when it's your first time doing X type of game.
I understand that you want money, but the prices of the Solomon seals are waaaaay too much (almost 10€ for ONE) & the f2p are stuck without a single chance to get the angels! At least give us a 10 pull goddamnit. Or don't even put them in the CHANCE UP gacha cuz it's not even chance up, it's only chance.
Also, nightmare coins... What are they actually for? They only unlock one tier & not even the reward.
In 2 days they did everything to destroy a really good game & to make their own fandom not even want to get close to it... Which is sad cuz I've been there since their insta started promoting it

yet another ant mimic jumping spider from Singapore: here’s Bocus angusticollis with its huge, flattened chelicerae (fangs) that resemble the broad head of an ant. not only does it look just like an ant, but it “antenna”-flicks and walks like one too! when it briefly glances at a passing oribatid mite or small beetle, however, it breaks the illusion; most ants don’t have binocular vision or at least don’t use their eyes like that.
this one is special to me since there’s only one other iNaturalist observation of it, from the exact location where I’d seen it a year before! wish I’d gotten a better photo of it too, but it leapt away from me before I could

New Games from April and May 2024
It’s been another great couple months for new games. If this is the first post like this that you’re seeing: every two months I highlight around ten games that were newly released on itch.io. I hear about most of these games through this form.
A Terrible Fate: A FitD game about cursed adventurers doomed to re-live the same three days until they stop the world from ending. Uses magical masks, inspired by Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. (@theresattrpgforthat / Mint-Rabbit)
Against the Monster: A story game about a monster hunt, the good of the monster, and the monstrosity of the hunters. Based on For the Queen. Comes in English & German. (Jasmin Neitzel and Andrea Rick, Plotbunny Games)
Numberless Secrets: An expansion for Hearts of Wulin that adds a Brindlewood Bay style mystery mechanic to the game of wuxia melodrama. For fans of Ancient Detective and such. (Lowell Francis, Age of Ravens Games)
Down the Road Through the End of the World: A game about people on a desperate journey through a post-apocalyptic world, looking for a haven. Based on Psi*Run. (Kodi Gonzaga)
Last Train To Bremen: A storytelling game of doomed musicians and poor decisions. One shot for 4 players exactly, using Liar’s Dice. From Caro Asercion, the designer of i’m sorry did you say street magic.
Deep in a Matrix of Flesh and Metal: A FitD game of crime and cyber-horror, where you and your crew of down-and-outs will try to become the biggest fish in the overcrowded pond that is Zone Zero, or die trying. (Calum Grace)
The Adventures of Gonan: A cute and innovative adventure game based on a fictional kids fantasy TV show, using a scene based structure that looks a bit like Yazeba’s Bed and Breakfast. (Tragos Games)
Into the Blind: A scifi horror hack of Trophy that twists it to tell stories like Alien and other genre classics. (Riley Daniels/Sick Sad Games)
Full Spectrum: An expansion for Spectres of Brocken, the mecha game of former friends turned enemies. This contains a collection of alternate settings and scenarios for the base game. (Austin Taylor, Arisia Santiago, Ethan Yen, Fin Coe, Juliet L’mous, Mike Balles, Valis Teoh, Aaron Lim)
The Pact: A two-player game poem about best friends, one of whom becomes a vampire at some point in their life. Players explore their relationship & find out what they’ll do to keep a childhood promise… (Marc Majcher / Majcher Arcana)
And as a bonus, a game I contributed to, Chiron’s Doom is out. It’s a storytelling game about an ill-fated expedition to explore a mysterious monument. Can be played solo or up to 3 players. It’s pretty neat!
